Can only speak of breakfast and brunch, but you can never go wrong with the eggs benedict or sausage platter. Service is the best and the atmosphere is great.
Very cute brunch place that I had the good fortune of stumbling upon (and by stumble, I mean yelping and hitting up the highest rated yelp establishment) while vacationing in Boyne City, MI with a group of friends. The menu had such great sounding offerings, we had a hard time making up our minds. I ended up going with the eggs benedict, which was delicious. Instead of English muffins, the benedict was served atop the baguette that is made in house. Though I still prefer the English muffins version, that was very original. It was the first time I've seen a grinder sandwich on the menu. The half I shared with my friend was pretty good, but nothing I'd write home about. Would come back to try the croque madame, that looked really good! Very cute restaurant with beautiful views of the lake, nice and accommodating waitstaff, and very solid menu offerings.
This place continues to impress me. Just wanted to freshen up my review as the old one is nearly 3 years old. Have been back multiple times. Will continue to come back. I have yet to try anything on the menu that wasn't excellent. Service is always good. I feel like you can be in and out of here in an hour if you'd like, or linger for a couple hours if you want to do that, too. Just can't say enough good things about this place.

It was really good food. Nice atmosphere in a house looking restaurant. It wasn't real far from the city but nice to get away and see something different than a bunch of crammed places on a street. The mushroom bruschetta was very tasty but only for those who like mushrooms. It is worth a try for a very tasty menu.
Great place and worth the drive. I really didn't think my wife and I would find the place, but we're always up for an adventure. The mushroom soup was fantastic! It's a broth based soup packed full of a variety of shrooms. We also tried the pork shanks, again fantastic. I understand they've won awards for these, I can understand why; they were meaty, sweet and tender. My wife tried the beet salad, which was disappointing. Favor was great but a little small We shared the porterhouse steak special with fresh morels. All I can say is wow; steak was cooked perfect and the morels were exquisite! Also had the fried brosell sprouts, again perfect. The waiter was one of the best servers we've ever had! Attentive, relaxed and knew his stuff. Lastly make sure you have the molten lava cake, you will not be sorry!
This was an unexpected find in a small town in Northern Michigan! A little house at the end of a short dirt driveway. We were here for a wine dinner in the front of the restaurant, where the bar was, so didn't see rest of the dining room. We were presented with the menu, which looked very special. It turned out that every course was absolutely delicious and had been expertly paired (by Brett, the owner and chef) with the wines that were picked for the dinner. The highlight for me was the hugely rich, decadent mushroom risotto that accompanied the tenderloin. Despite how rich it was, it that didn't feel overly weighty...I couldn't stop eating it. Delicious food, friendly service and incredible value. If you live in this area, this would be an incredible place to go for fine dining or a special occasion dinner. I highly recommend you make the next wine dinner.

Service is personable, professional and fun to be at. The food is consistently good. So is the option of boat docking for the restaurant
We had a great dinner tonight. The Whitefish was tasty, the ribs well seasoned and fall off the bone tasty. Our waitress and other staff were attentive and the view was wonderful from the upper porch.
We came for their Wednesday "Burger and a Beer" night, so everyone at our table got a burger. I can't speak for all of us (though I'm almost certain they would all agree) but the burgers were great! Nice buttered/toasted bun, burger was actually cooked medium as I requested, and they didn't skimp on the toppings. Plus, they have meunster cheese, so I was sold. And I'm glad Michiganders are fans of green olives on their burgers, because I love having some sliced olives to top it all off! The beers that came with the burger deal were not any that I was going to order: Labatts, Bud, etc. Bit for an "up-charge" you could get a bit better brew. I chose a Harbor Light from Petoskey Brewing Co and I thought it was great! I opted to just get the chips that came with the meal-others had raved about their sweet potato fries, so they ordered those for an additional charge- I was not impressed. The star of my meal-the Caprese Salad. Though it's a simple salad, it takes some skill to make it outstanding, and this was! As far as the atmosphere, while I can appreciate the gorgeous, tall, wooden ceiling painted with a compass rose, it made an echo chamber of the entire inside. It was LOUD! I was visiting family in Boyne, and we would have loved to have been able to hold a conversation around the table, but you couldn't really talk to anyone besides the ones sitting directly next to you. The outdoor seating is where I would choose to sit- I recommend a reservation. It was very busy (we waited 45 minutes for indoor seating) at 6:00 on a Wednesday night in the summer.

We have a favorite waiter at Bella Vita, so my mother in law requested her. Linda treats us like celebrities. We really like her. She is so personable and made sure we always had everything we needed. A real asset to the place! The food was as wonderful as I remembered. The walleye is one of their specialties. Lots of traditional Italian foods, with a local Michigan influence from the ingredients. It was morel season, so I had to have a cup of morel bisque. HEAVEN! Lots of mushroom-licious flavor. The walleye had a mozzarella crust and a sauce that was creamy without being heavy. I think hubby picked the best dessert of all: Triple Crown Pie, with multiple layers of flavor. I had the flourless chocolate torte. See all my delicious photos! I noticed that the gluten free items are marked on the menu. I remembered that Bella Vita gets noisy due to hard surfaces, so I got my mother in law to agree to getting us there early so that we'd be able to hear ourselves talk. It was also early in the season, so the room never filled up and I never had to resort to my trusty ear plugs.
Been there many times over the last several years. The name changed when Mary and John sold the restaurant, but the basic great food has remained with the new owners. It is always a treat to go there, especially when Linda serves our table. I like the welcome that Kelly gives us when we walk in the door--it feels like home. We will be going back, that's for sure!
We have recently been spending time in Boyne coming from Ann Arbor. Bella Vita looks so inviting from the road so we decided to give it a shot. We had a very pleasant experience. Service was friendly and attentive. Warm bread and soft butter kicked it off. A very nice touch. The wine list is short but has some very good selections. Didn't love the minestrone soup but the entrees were excellent. We split a Chicken Parm. In a world were there is a lot of bad chicken parm out there, this one was great. A little crispy which I love and the sauce was tasty. Everyone else loved there entrees and the staff were excellent with our kids, even after a big spill. This is certainly going to make our rotation and it seems like a great place for the winter. Very cozy!

This is a very solid breakfast place. I would give it 3 1/2 stars if I could. One reviewer said the place is grimy. We did not have that experience at all. This is just a plain and simple breakfast place. Egg, bacon, toast, hash browns as good as anywhere diner. Very clean, good service and a decent price. This will be a regular stop for us when we are staying up north.
Great place for breakfast! You should see the baskets and gravy. Didn't get them but wish I did! Friend said they were "wow!"
"Meh. I've experienced better" describes this place to a T. Our group of three sat down for breakfast and after a few moments, the server came by and took our drink order and gave us menus. The coffee was hot and delicious by my standards* and the small juice looks to be about 8 oz.. Server was pleasant and quick considering she was the only one working the front. (* I like my coffee weak) We ordered and waited. And waited. To be fair, while there was only one server on duty, I believe the issue was the kitchen since our drinks came out quickly. So, we finally get our food (it was about a 20 minute wait) and it was...okay. Nothing I could really point out and say "oooh, that was awful" but on the other hand, nothing stood out as outstanding either. I left most of mine though my companions ate most of theirs. Thinking about this place though, what is really off-putting is the griminess. This place does not look clean. Sorry, but a thorough cleaning and some paint would probably add an extra star but as it stands now, it's just kind of gross. Like people have smoked in there for 40 years gross. Next time I'm Up North, I'll go to Betty's in Boyne Falls or FlapJack in Charlevoix instead. *** They only accept cash or a check ***

Whoa! Who demolished the Boyne City McDonalds? No, it's not gone forever. I can see signs that they're completely remodeling the building and adding a two-lane drive-through.
