My experience at Fleming's has never been anything short of superb. From the service to the food, no detail is overlooked. My boyfriend and I continue to go back for our anniversary dinners because we've had such stellar experiences. The waitstaff knows the menu and is always sure to clue us in on nightly specials. They are attentive without bugging your every 3 minutes. The best part - you can actually order a steak the way you want it cooked! No more of this ordering something rare in anticipation that it comes out medium. You certainly get what you pay for here. Be sure to let them know if you're celebrating a birthday, anniversary, or special occasion - they give you a celebratory treat, which is a sweet way to end the night!

My partner and I decided on Fleming's for Easter dinner, and the experience was pretty good. We were promptly seated and given menus and a wine list on an iPad, a first for me. I decided I was more comfortable reading the hard copy, but it was kind of cool to see how they managed their extensive wine list electronically. We were promptly given water and bread with a choice of gorgonzola cheese spread and tomato butter. Both were OK, but I would have preferred plain old butter. We decided to split an appetizer and ordered the pork belly. It was good, as was the onion relish that came with it. Frankly, it tasted more like cranberry relish, but it was good anyway. Then came our salads, which were excellent. I had the wedge salad, which was crisp, cold, and contained a respectable amount of blue cheese. My partner had the burrata salad, which she also liked. I had a glass of chardonnay with my app and salad while my teetotaler partner stuck with a soft drink. The wine pour wasn't overly generous, but it was enough. The food missteps came with our small plates, which we had instead of entrees. My filet mignon, which I had ordered medium rare, was blood rare instead. The sliced beef sat on small beds of porcini risotto, which was pretty flavorless. My partner's lobster tempura was so thickly coated with batter that she sat there excavating the lobster from the crust. She ate the lobster but remarked that it was rubbery and the tempura crust tasted scorched. We also ordered a side of creamed corn to share but it was overly spiced with jalapeños, which made it difficult for me to enjoy the taste of my filet. I finally pushed it aside and neither of us ate very much of it. I had a glass of cabernet with my small plate and we declined dessert. The final verdict is that our meal was pretty good, the service was very good, but for the price tag it was just an OK experience. With so many good restaurants in Birmingham I doubt if we'll return.

My wife and I had dinner Saturday evening. The waitress and food were excellent. We stayed longer than normally expected. The staff never rushed us and made us feel welcomed. We had the filet steaks, Fleming potatoes, green beans, cream brûlée for desert. All cooked to perfection. This is really a nice place the locals recommended.

This year, I took part in Biirrrrrrmingham's Restaurant Week by visiting Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar. Stick around until the end of this review and you're in for a treat with a really funny story that happened there. The BRW meals were $30 and I decided to roll with the following: Fleming's Salad - candied walnuts, dried cranberries, tomatoes, onions & croutons Breast of Chicken baked in white wine mushroom, shallot & thyme sauce, served w/baby green beans Dessert -- spoonful of raspberry sorbet with 2 chocolate truffles and a lemon type of truffle rolled in toasted coconut. Upon entering, checking my coat and checking in (I made my reservation using Open Table) at the host podium, I was quickly seated. After I was seated and waiting for my fine dining partner, the server and server asst tended to my beverage needs (wine order & water). I ordered the Kendall-Jackson Chardonnay. I indulged in their table bread (delving into my weekly allowance points with WW) which was served with a sun-dried tomato (?) butter and a chardonnay infused butter. The salad was nice. It was exactly as described above. The croutons were not big cubes as one would expect... they were tiny flakes. Like crushed croutons, if you will. The breast of chicken wasn't just a filet. It was attached to a lil leg. The sauce was a bit heavy for chicken, IMO. The baby green beans were nice. The raspberry sorbet was delish. The chocolate truffle was rolled in what seemed like pure cocoa. When I bit into it, the cocoa went straight to the back of my throat and then my life played out before my eyes, as I thought i was going to choke half to death. Needless to say, I didn't eat the rest of it, nor did I touch the other. The 3rd truffle was delicious, though... it had a creamy, lemony taste to it and was rolled in toasted coconut. Their coffee smelled great, so i had a cup of it, as well. The ambiance was intimate, as expected with a fine dining establishment. Dim lighting, wine bottles lined along the walls, etc. The service was great. The staff worked cohesively and efficiently. Our dinner was under 2 hours (I know because parking is free for the first 2 hours, so we made a point to be in and out!). Speaking of parking, I wouldn't advise anybody to park at the meters out front -- the structure which is *right there* has plenty of parking, which of course, is free for the first 2 hours. I had a great time. Flemings, let alone Birmingham is a bit hoity-toity for me, so I don't see myself strapping in for the ride out there on a casual day or evening out. I doubt I'd be back for anything other than another Restaurant Week Event or other event-specific reason. Okay, here's my funny story -- As we stood up to leave, the waitstaff and managers began to clap. We kinda slowed down and looked around to see if there was someone of significance walking behind us -- I was ready to clutch my pearls and say "For Meeee??", but nobody was really looking at us. We decided to casually walk on out and as we exited the dining room, we noticed a gold box on a table and flowers, etc... A couple had just gotten engaged! That's why they were all clapping.... hehe. I mean, I thought a flash mob was about to break out in there! As I waited for my coat at the host station, I told the maitre 'd what went through my head and he laughed Lol. After I got my coat on and we said goodbye, everybody at the host station clapped for us! Ha!

With the new addition of our Baby my husband and I have created a new baby-free eating-out motto "Go big or Stay home". We tend to take our baby (Cameron) with us almost everywhere, however there are some restaurants we don't deem as baby-friendly. These restaurants are designated by asking myself, pre-baby if I was paying $200+ for a dinner would I want someone's infant strewing crackers all over the floor next to me? Granted your answer may be, "I never want that to happen at any restaurant", but this foodie couple had a child so it happens at 70% of the places we eat out at. Not being from the "City", I had never heard of Fleming's growing up. So when I received a gift card I was like "whats this place". Little did I know it was a well-known and well established steakhouse chain. Lets start with what I liked. We were able to make a reservation and the atmosphere was comfortable. Also, I found their extensive wine list great because my husband and I are always looking for new wines to try. Finally, the Chipotle Mac and Cheese was the best part of our meal. Not only was it delicious, but it was different. Usually we see lobster or truffle mac and cheese as upscale restaurants, so I thought the chipotle was a brave move. Now the down side. My husband and I both ordered the special that was two smaller filets with different treatments. We always order medium-rare (how else would you eat a steak?). Both of our dishes, so all 4 steaks, came out medium-well to well done. Ugh, cardinal sin for a steakhouse. Granted our waiter jumped on it and made it right, but come on! You are supposedly famous for your steaks and you send out dried, overcooked ones out to a table? I know that it is harsh, but because of the steaks issue I don't see us going back to Fleming's. There are just too many other great options. Maybe I will just get take-out Mac and Cheese!

I've been to all the steakhouses in the area, and there are a lot; but Fleming's is my favorite for both quality of food, price, and service. I usually order the bone in ribeye at all of these places and IMHO Fleming's has the best and it's also the lowest price!! The service there is always awesome, be it in the dining room or bar. I've been with all adults and with my wife and kids, and without fail we've left with a smile on our faces. I know that Fleming's has a reputation for being snooty, but that is not warranted. I have never been to their happy hour, but have heard from friends that it is awesome!!! All in all, I love this place and could not recommend a better restaurant in the area!!!

I took my BF for his birthday here... And had made a reservation - they took great care of us... And was very sweet to give him a box of truffles and also a 25 dollar gift card.... The food is pricey but was delicious... He ate the aged New York strip and as a vegetarian I ate different sides... Overall it was a good experience!

My boyfriend and I went to dinner tonight at Flemings for our 3 year anniversary. What a special night it was thanks to the amazing service, great wine, and delicious food at Flemings! Espire was our waitress and she was so helpful! She saw we were struggling to pick a wine from their huge selection and informed us that they have something called a Vinotype Flight where we were able to sample 3 different wines to help us decide. As a result, my boyfriend and I ended up being very satisfied with the wines we chose! At the end of dinner, the manager Dan brought us over a box of chocolates in honor of our anniversary! From beginning to end, the experience at Flemings tonight was one we will remember and we will be going back soon!

Nice atmosphere, very empty for the dinner hour on a Thursday night. For starters our bus boy knocked over our $100 bottle of wine and only commented that it was a good thing it didn't spill on me and quickly scurried off. We had to notify our waiter of this mishap and in doing so the manager got us a new bottle. The bus boy then avoided us after that. We ordered the baked brie which tasted bad, something pungent on it. We couldn't quite put our finger on what it was but did not finish it. We also didn't care for the WICKED CAJUN BARBECUE SHRIMP either. Both appetizers were left unfinished, the waiter never questioned it, we didn't mention it either. I ordered the PORCINI RUBBED FILET MIGNON ($45). I ordered medium rare, it came back medium well. I sent it back only to then get another medium well steak! The waiter didn't come to check on us again, I believe he knew it was overcooked..again. We took it home and fed it to our dog. My boyfriend's steak was also over cooked and very dry. We decided enough was enough and were just too upset to mention it. Figured we would leave and NEVER come back. We spent $250 for bad food and service. The only thing that was good was the red wine and the CHOCOLATE LAVA CAKE.

5 stars for the bar and the happy hour food and cocktails. recently made our first, but definately not our last trip to Fleming's for some late afternoon cocktails. Nice atmosphere. Nice bar staff. Comfortable seats and relaxed feel. The bartender makes a GREAT drink here. Great manhattan and dirty martini. the bar food on the happy hour menu was nothing short of spectacular, though we only tried the pork belly and the calamari the pork belly was delicious with a wonderful accompanying sauce and some seriously legit polenta. I could eat an entire bowl of that polenta. man was it good the calamari was cooked perfectly and had a really nice sauce. it was very subtle. just perfect. portion sizes were awesome. quality of the food was awesome. drinks were awesome. service was awesome. will definately be back for happy hour

We returned to Flemings a month after our previous visit after an invitation from the restaurant manager to "make things right". I felt compelled to update my original review and rating as this time our experience was vastly improved. Appetizers: Crab cakes were excellent, Caesar salad was OK. A small point, but this time the bread was much improved, served hot & fresh. Steaks: Bone-in ribeye - cast iron pan seared - was superb. My wife had the chefs special, trio of 4oz filets with various toppings (Crab, porcini mushroom rub), tender like butter (my wife's words) and flavorful - which could be attributed to the added rubs. Dessert: Lava cake was fabulous, big enough to split, takes 20 minutes so order ahead. The other major difference from our previous visit was service. Our waiter, James. enhanced the dining experience with his professionalism, friendly demeanor and great recommendations. I would rate this a 5-star dining experience - so my updated 4-star rating reflects a blend of our 2 visits. We would definitely come back - and make a specific request to have James as our waiter.

Overall this is a pretty nice place. Sat at the bar with the boyfriend. Our server seemed disinterested in our presence and stood aloof when we were clearly waiting just for the menu's. The wine list was presented in a slightly different manner than what I'm normally used to and the glasses are priced at 3, 6 and 9 ounces accordingly. If you are into cabernet sauvignon, I really enjoyed the Oberon, Napa Valley. Went straight to entree: I had the chilean sea bass. This was served very soft and meaty in a flavorful tomato broth- Very good, highly recommend. The boyfriend had the salmon which was equally delicious. The portions are sizable so bring your appetite. Dinner was pretty pricey and its going to hurt the wallet. Food was a 4 but service brings the rating down to a 3. Ambiance was nice as well.

HAPPY HOUR REVIEW I always get the prime burger for 6 dollars here. It is juicy and delicious and comes with cheese, bacon, and a side of fries! Fleming's always has a happy hour from 5-6:30 every single day! There are other appetizers and drinks on the menu that are also offered for 6 dollars, but I highly recommend the prime burger for the best bang for your buck! Top class meal for a budget price. Happy yelping! Edit: prime burger now 7 bucks here. Still worth it IMHO.

Location- 5 star Food- 4 Ambience-2.5-3 Service- 3 I went there just because I had $40 coupon from American Express. It was my birthday dinner and my wife made reservations. Ambience- We got there on time and in 5-6 min they got us seated. Both of us were expecting something far more better experience than what we got. Tables were close to each other. Overall restaurant was very loud and annoying. I did not like chairs and they were uncomfortable. But I was happy with just the thought that I am going to get some good steak. Service- service was something which made me really mad. Guy servicing us was rude and he seemed not at all interested. For through out our dinner we never got feeling that he wants us there. Food- my wife is vegetarian. She almost had no options except sides and some salads. Apart from that they do not have any veg options. Steak- I got prime New York strip ($53). It was good tasting and made exactly the way I asked for. I was happy about that but none of their food comes with sides. You have to buy sides separately. (Each side is $10-12) By the time we were done with food, we were not happy with the place to stay there for some desserts. We asked for our check n got out. Overall it was a good place. Nice decent crowd, expensive food but just very loud. I hated the service and attitude by our waiter. They gave me $25 gift card for my next visit as it was my birthday but I doubt I will use that soon.

Went here for a night out with no kids and I was not impressed ! Only friend and I both ordered filets pan seared. I ordered mine MR it came out well done. We had to flag someone down town them know my steak was not cooked properly. Thus brought me a new steak and it was the end piece with fat on it and not pan seared. My friends meal was cold by the time I received mine. They took the steak off the bill. We do not go out that much to a nice place since we have little ones at home and I was so excited to have a good steak. I will not be back.

My boyfriend and I went for Birmingham Restaurant Week, and overall enjoyed our experience. Our salads were great. The steaks and mashed potatoes were OUTSTANDING. It's all about the wine sauce :) For dessert, the menu said "assorted mini desserts." Naturally, I was super excited for this platter of tiny things! What we got, though, were two chocolate truffles. That is the OPPOSITE of assorted mini desserts. This was enough of a disappointment for them to lose a star. Just advertise honestly. That's all I ask. Side note: While we were eating dinner, there was a waiter moving chairs around and carrying them over his head. He was passing by a guy dressed in a suit with a name tag who I'm assuming is the manager. The manager just stared at him and did not move out of the way, so the waiter tried to squeeze by with the chair and accidentally kicked over a chair at an empty table. The look on the manager's face was absolutely frightening. I wouldn't be surprised if the waiter got fired. I mean, I get that you're trying to be a fancy place and all, but 1) you didn't get out of the guy's way so he could get by and 2) it is SO not the end of the world for a chair to fall over, especially if no one's even sitting nearby. It made me nervous about how employees might be treated here, so I won't be going out of my way to come back.

5 stars for food! Got a GC and used it. Never been there before. Although Yelp said attire was dressy, I called ahead and was told jeans and tennis shoes were ok. Still, dress nice when you go. Dark atmosphere, very romantic. Nice decor. Wine list on iPads. Front area seemed more like a relaxed high end bar, it was very busy. A little disappointed that we had to wait to have a table set. When we walked in there were numerous empty tables or dirty tables. Kind of strange that tables weren't ready as the waiter was very attentive and didn't let my glass go empty. Menu was pricey (but this is Birmingham anyway), but well worth it! Food was excellent! They are known for their steaks, and we eat a lot of steaks- Fleming's was delicious. I had a perfect meal, my new fave restaurant. The bread comes to the table freshly baked with 2 kinds of spread- a Gorgonzola mix and a tomato(?), both good but the Gorgonzola was refreshing. The pork belly appetizer in s cherry sauce-- soooo good! ($16.50). I could have that as a meal! We ordered the dry aged rib eye with scallops and asparagus- great nutty flavor on the steak, both steak and scallops were cooked perfectly. My fave was the filet mignon ($40) with lobster ($12.50), bernaise and caviar. My new fave dish! Creamed spinach was good too! ($10?) Total for an app, 2 steaks and an added lobster was $157- we will go again!

Hostess: ok. Our reservations were at 4:15 they opened at 4 we arrived at 3:50 and he did not ask us if we wanted to be seated even thou there was no one in the restaurant. We sat there till 4:15 Water boy: great my glass was never empty. Server: Great! He was very friendly and good at his job. Ambiance: low light, upscale The food: ok. To start they bring bread and cheese spread to the table that's tasty. I ordered the swordfish and a side of Mac and cheese. The swordfish was good the sauce it's served with was very good. The Mac and cheese was ok. Nothing special. My dinner buddy had the prime rib I would say he's an expert of this cut of meat and he thought it was just ok not a $50 piece of meat. The king crab was good. I have eaten here a few times and it's not wort the price you pay. I would say go to j Alexander and take your extra $100 and buy a new toy at best buy.

For being a chain restaurant Flemings never lets me down . I've heard negative reviews from friends however the three times I've gone in the past year have been nothing but delicious . Appetizers were perfect . The filet was cooked to perfection ( med rare) and the service was exceptional.

We've been here 2x prior and loved it which is why i gave it the 2. But this last visit was so bad that i needed to vent. Our waitress wasn't great. Super snobby and borderline rude. We ordered 4 filets and they failed on all 4. They feel like they were bbq'ed on a grill by a rookie. we all requested medium and received 3 overly well done and a brick. They outsides were charred. For the amount of money dinners costs here consistency is important. They definitely don't have it.

My friend and I usually meet up at this Flemings once a month or so to catch up, have dinner, and enjoy a few drinks. My most recent visit was woefully underwhelming and not what you'd expect when you're paying these prices. I mean, you can go to any bar in Birmingham and have the same ambiance. You can also buy a four pound pack of USDA prime filets from your local wholesale warehouse for the price of one filet here. Given this, I expect the experience here to be on par with the price, but it unfortunately is not. The service is what is to be expected at a "steakhouse" and the liquor selection is nice. The soup selection is nearly always a disappointment, and the appetizers and small plates are not in the least bit appetizing. I typically order the porcini rubbed filet, so I went with my usual during my last visit; as did my friend. Hers came out, was nicely barrel cut, and cooked as she ordered. Mine on the other hand, was nothing like hers. It had been butchered and was about two thirds the size of hers, overcooked, and dry (I ordered it Medium). You'd expect two orders of the exact same dish to look and taste similar, right? Not this time around. So, I sent it back. I then ordered the crème brûlée, which apparently had not been given adequate time to chill. It had a nice flavor, but the consistency was soupy and not at all what crème brûlée should feel like. Lastly, the valet service is less than desirable. The time before out last visit to Flemings the valet guy pulled our cars out front, illegally parked them, and dropped our keys at our table. Mind you, the restaurant was not closed and we weren't the last two present (although I'm assuming we were the last two with our cars in valet). I'm assuming the valet doesn't stay open for the duration of time that the restaurant does; which is unfortunate, because this made us have to rush to finish our drinks so our cars wouldn't be ticketed. The most recent time (the same incident as the overcooked filet and watery dessert) the valet guy kept coming into the restaurant and counting the people who were still eating. I'm not sure what the purpose for this was, but I don't expect the valet to be in and out of the restaurant while they're supposed to be working. It left me with an unsettling feeling, and, again, made me feel as though the valet was in a rush to get all of the vehicles out so he could close up shop. Needless to say, we will be moving on to a different restaurant for our next meet up.

Yes, this is a typical steakhouse. No, there is nothing wrong with that. Very professional staff and the entire restaurant is always spic & span CLEAN. They offer an extensive wine list on an iPad - east to find what you're looking for. I have no complaints about their steaks. I've been here twice in 11 months. Looking forward to going back!

In short, it was pretty horrific and I am embarrassed I brought clients there for a private dining event. The food wasn't great and the service was worse. I'm providing details about specific concerns below so you have a full understanding. I sent these privately to the restaurant and to the main headquarters with no response. * The hostess did not bring us to the room, she pointed at the at the stairs and did not come up show us to the room or around it * We had to ask for cocktail and wine menus they were not readily available * The room was uncomfortably hot * There was a general sense of annoyance, especially from our main waiter, James * The wait staff was speaking loudly about needing to 'get us out' because they had other things to do and reset the room o The manager in the suit was overheard near the kitchen asking 'have those people left yet?' * The steaks came out almost cold like they had been sitting for a while. Some people had to send it back and the wait staff audibly scoffed at this. The main meals did not come out even closely to the same time * Drinks took up to 30 minutes at times to be delivered * In generally, the wait staff was not around to check on us, etc. * James specifically was annoyed when people weren't eating their salads quickly enough and stood over people deep in conversation until they ate some and took it away, mumbling rudely under his breath * James went out of his way to say loudly that gratuity was not included. He was overall unprofessional but this was appalling * Once the person who signed the check got up, James scurried over and looked at the bill for his tip in front of everyone. It was really rude. * There was inconsistencies on drinks being served. James refused to serve someone a cosmo while she still had some left in her existing glass. He rudely stuttered over saying this. There is a professional way to be concerned about your liability for over serving people. Again, he did not show any class or professionalism while stating this. As you can see, everyone felt unwelcome, rushed, etc. It really left a negative experience for all of us.

All I can say is Stellar !! We went to Fleming's tonight for my wife's birthday dinner. We were greeted with a smile at the front reception and immediately seated (as per our reservation). We started with some wine (which was great)....selected from their Ipad type menu. Our appetizer was the Barbeque Shrimp....it was SO SO good. I could've made a meal of 100 of those!!!! My wife was not in love with the Fleming's salad that she had. It was below average in her opinon. I don't do salad, so I wouldn't know. It looked great in my opinion. We both had steaks. I had the Newport (6 oz filet) and my wife had a petit filet. They were both insanely great ... cooked to perfection and the flavors were amazing. Mine came with the Flemings potatoes which were fantastic. I wish I had a bucket to take home. We finished things off with the lava cake which of course, was amazing. The prices are a little high, but that's to be expected a a top notch restaurant. Our service was top notch, food top notch, surrounds were wonderful. The owner paid extra great attention to us and I had several great conversations with him. It was all delightful and we will certainly not hesitate to return.

So... An hour and a half into ordering our food and we're still sitting here with nothing in front of us except our drinks. No excuses, no apologies from management, nothing... Zilch! Either the restaurant is horrible or Birmingham Michigan has very low standards for fine eating. The good news is the ambience is wonderful but that's where it ends. I would love to report on the food but...we haven't gotten it yet.... ...here comes the food. Steaks are just ok. Fish is over cooked and way too hot. Many missed sides. Very disappointing. If you want to eat here give yourself lots and lots and lots of time to be served otherwise avoid this restaurant.

I went their tonight with my girlfriend service was great but food on the other hand wasn't the greatest with both ordered an app which was the mushroom ravioli and that was wonderful but shortly we ordered our main entree which was the porcini filet and we both ordered medium well the steaks were cooked to order on the inside but the outer was very burned for being $45 a steak you would expect for the steak to be alittle better but I guess it's not about how much you pay its where you go overall the waitress was very nice but I don't think I would be going back there

We threw a dinner in honor of our sister this weekend for over 30 guests. A daunting task that ended up being very easy thanks to the help of the wonderful staff at Flemming's. Marsha helped us select our menu choices from appetizers, entrees, to the wine. She then printed customized menus for our guests that we preapproved. We rented the two back rooms and opened up the divider between them. When we arrived, the servers had set up the room beautifully with the wine and champagne ready for our guests. There were several waiters who ensured that everyone's glasses were filled throughout the evening. Especially Michael Smith who was the best! Dinner was served and it was delicious. Everyone's filet was perfect. The room was beautiful, the staff was helpful the food was phenomenal. A night our guests will remember

What a disappointment this place is. We had been wanting to try this restaurant for a while. Two of the three steaks we ordered were not prepared as ordered. The signature potato, the Fleming's potatoes, were undercooked and hard in the middle. The grilled asparagus was cold and undercooked as well. The creme brûlée was burned, leaving a bitter taste. The wedge salad was delicious, but it's a disappointment to come to a steak house for a great salad. Avoid this chain disappointment. You can get a much better steak elsewhere.

Over all, it was a really nice experience. We went out for my parents wedding anniversary. Our server (her name escapes me, unfortunately) was great. She wasn't stuffy like most waiters at fine dining restaurants and was very knowledgable and honest about all aspects of the menu. I got the main fillet and the pepper corn mashed potatoes. I also added the crab legs. All I can say is YUM. Everyone at the table was thrilled with their meal, and our wine and drinks were perfect. I was disappointed with the creme brûlée. It was slightly gritty, but I still enjoyed it, since it is one of my favorite desserts! At the end of the meal, my parents received a gift card and box of chocolates in honor of their anniversary, I thought that was a great touch. We'll definitely be back for special occasions in the future.

We made reservations and we're promptly seated. The staff were great. My wife and I order wine and ahi. When my wine came out the waitress recognized it was incorrect and quickly fixed it. The ahi was pretty good my wife really liked it, I thought it was fair. Our dinner was served promptly, petite filets were perfect, flemings potatoes were good but the texture was slightly under done. Mac and cheese was crazy good. The flour less lava cake was ok but didn't blow our socks off. All and all great experience.

I first found Fleming's by chance one night, after a friend and I tried going out for steak at two other places, and being told there was over an hour wait at both. A short drive away, we turned a corner and saw Fleming's, and decided to take a chance. We were greeted warmly, seated immediately, and got such great service and food that at one point we had to high-five each other across the table. Honestly, the server had exactly the personality you want, warm and amusing, very knowledgeable, able to give great suggestions for our orders, was attentive without being intrusive, and each dish was perfectly prepared, plated, and presented. This is not an innovative menu, but if you are looking for high quality and attention to detail in a traditional, upscale setting, this is perfection. I went back tonight with another friend, and had another stellar experience. I had apparently signed up for their email list and given them my birthday info, so even though my birthday was two days ago, they saw it when I gave my name at the hostess station, and so, in addition to another stellar meal, accompanied by superior service, we also had a manager stop by our table to deliver a darling golden box of handmade chocolate truffles, and a $25 gift card, after our meal. Take your dad, take a date, take a friend when you both are feeling flush and want to be pampered. I effing LOVE this place. It's not trendy, it's not hip, but it is a place that takes great pride in excellent service and attention to detail, and rightfully so.

Glad to pay $150 on a hot date with my husband when the food, service, and experience is worthy - heck $200! Sadly this disappointed. I was so excited, thinking a Capital Grill or Big Rock way to dine was how my Saturday dinner would be and it was not. I was freezing my patootie off in the back corner of the place that should have been cozy. I should not have to beg for heat in winter in Michigan. I looked to see several other diners at other tables with their coats on. The waiter could have taken note "oh you look chilly with your sweater cardigan plus husband's blazer around you".. but NOPE. Then the steak was good but not killer good, on par with Texas Roadhouse. The worst was the price of the shrimp appetizer and the small portion, no wait the actual worst part was ordering my ten dollar loaded potato and doing all the work!! Now, seriously in a place that Flemings pretends to be, I should not get little ramekins of each item separate to build my own loaded potato. I'm not paying the big bucks to work at my table in a nice dress. The butter was cold and not whipped, not even thrown on the hot potato on way out of the kitchen. Wendys even puts butter on your baked potato for you, Come ON! That was a huge miss in my book. We would have done dessert if we had reason to think it might impress but after the disappointment we got the bill. They need to bring down pricing and ambiance to fit a lower level restaurant. The hostess I think was a manager the one that sat me. A petite woman with dark brown shoulder length hair and maybe 50's? We had reservations and with inclement weather my husband had dropped me at the door while he parked the car. I wanted to wait for my man before escaping to a table. She seemed curt and annoyed I was waiting for him. The waiter was nice enough but not overly attentive. When paying these prices you need to be hitting on all marks at all times. Missing all of these marks is not acceptable, when you play in the big league$$$$ you need to step up. Our choice will be Big Rock or Capital Grill Somerset, over here any day.

Great beef, polished service, comfort food, bit pricey. That's pretty much all you need to know. Fleming's is a "type" - its a high-end steak house along the same lines as Ruth's Chris, Capital Grille and Mortons. Clean yet comfortable (corporate-y) dim interior, great wine list with some value bottles alongside more enviable companions, WONDERFUL melt-in-your-mouth aged beef, complemented by sides and salads that you've already enjoyed too many times before to count - Caesar and wedge salads, creamed spinach, sauteed asparagus, potatoes every which way. Your palate won't be surprised here, but it won't be disappointed either. Budget-friendly tip: go on Sunday! My family and I went for Father's Day, had a lovely relaxed time. How is this day different from all other days? Well, on all other days, everything is a la carte - $40 for a steak, and $10 each for salad, side and dessert - that could get you easily to $70 per (very stuffed) person, and you haven't yet had a drop to drink or tipped anybody! But on Sunday, they have a prime rib special that, at $40, comes with a lovely 12oz slice, a salad, a side AND a dessert (any one off the menu, not a limited selection). It's the best deal you'll find there, and the prime rib is particularly delicious.

The first time I went to Fleming's was for the "Taste of Birmingham" event, when you get to try a fixed price menu and restaurants you can't usually afford. Even though we were there on that menu, they treated us like we were kings. It was that night that made up my mind that it was worth it to pay a little more to get top notch service and food. The side dishes come in family style and the macaroni and cheese was a highlight. One in our group got the pork and it was juicy and perfectly seasoned. The filets we had were cooked to perfection save for my one friend. When the manager saw that hers wasn't cooked properly, he whisked it away and offered her a shot of Cabo Wabo tequila while she waited. The waitress was very good with the wine list, helping us make an impeccable decision on what is now my favorite bottle of wine. Fleming's is also a great spot for a glass of wine after the movies. They have a bar menu (selections from the menu) and the full wine list, along with a full bar in the bar section. A very swanky way to end the evening.

Very disappointing. Two of our three visits just haven't measured up. Tonight's waiter was rushed - even after the rush ended - and forget to pick up a wine we ordered. He did apologize and didn't charge us for the glass. Both steaks were over cooked. Just not the best.

I've eaten at Flemings a couple times and each time was great. The first time we were there, I had a filet my husband had a seafood dish... both excellent. My husband and I recently went in for the steak and seafood deal and it was perfect! This is what we received: * Two 6-ounce Filets * Two Australian Lobster Tails * Two Chopped Wedge Salads * Fleming's Potatoes * Sugar Snap Peas * Chocolate Mousse with Hazelnut Bark for two For a fixed $99 price (not sure if they still do this, I just dug up the email of the deal to write the fixed menu). The steak was sooo good, the lobster even better!! The staff was so attentive even for a busy Thursday night and it was our anniversary so they gave us special chocolate covered strawberries in a Flemings box... plus the dessert included in the deal.

I was going to give this place 5 stars and changed my mind to 4. They dont please my tastebuds enough to give 5! The lobster tempura and seafood tower are both delicious .... Yummy lamb chops and interesting mint jelly that comes with it ... Not too fond of their steaks tho ... Their sides are sleepy ... ... My husband had the veal and liked it ... My husbands favorite is the double breast of chicken - it's in a white wine and mushroom sauce. It is not good as a take out tho. Can I still give 5 stars and tell you what happened when they first opened? I ordered a salad take out ... got home and their were fruit flies in my salad ... just walking around in it. WTH. I complained - of course. The manager said they were having a fruit fly issue. That's never happened again tho. I gave them another try and ever since they've been so delicious ... with NO fruit flies ... haha.

ooooooo Fleming's. I wish it had a different name....Flem, Phelgm(sp?)...kinda gross...also I was wondering if this was going to a faux steakhouse like this guys famous PF Changs chains. I could start a Chinese place too-SMB Xinglings. So authentic. Anyway, it was a Thursday night and decently busy and I was there with the husbands family so the waiter kissed our ass since 8 people=HUGE tip. He kept like trying to explain the wine list to me, which was nice, but in no way did I need him to do that, but how do you say, "Uh, I used to work at 220, I know my wines..." ? I ordered a cheaper glass, and it was decent, but acidic but all reds are these days. The black napkins on my cheap as hell dress pants were my favorite. If the lady only knew me, she would know there was zero reason for me to not have a white napkin. I felt so poshy and dbaggy for even being there, especially on a Thursday...it pry wasn't as crowded as they were hoping the place would be. Ok, so the free stuff comes out and it was a good cheese spead with crostini's and celery. With it being called a steakhouse that is what I decided to order...a filet medium. Oh I did have a ceasar sald first which was ok, I have had better ceasars in my life-at 220. The lettuce wasn't old and they did put plenty of parm on thou... The fliet was very good, but my bro and law and I realized the dumbasses mixed up our steaks because he said his was good but slightly overcooked and I was like, 'son of a bitch...' anyway, still good flavor and good quality meat and even better when I didn't have to pay for it. Sides-HUGE. The asparagus was good. I didn't have any of the shoestring potatoes because by the time it got around to me, everyone had been reaching in with their hands..family or not, still gross. The baked potato was massive, but I didn't have any of that either, but everyone said it was great! The mac and cheese=MUY fabulous! I would go there just for that, and gladly used my carb calories on that instead of poatoes. Creamy, cheesy and a perfect flavor of not being so rich you feel like you will puke. I was feeling like a fat whompus so I didn't order dessert. However, the choclate lava cake and cheesecake did look great and everyone said it was. Again, I would go there for a dessert and a glass of wine after a movie for sure or something. I would definatley go back, but don't see it being in the budget anytime soon....

We went last night for a birthday celebration with a party of 5. We had long waits for everything...to place our order, to get our drinks, to get appetizers, salads, bread, refills on water, entrees. And, when asking the waiter a second time for bread (mind you, we hadn't received ANY bread at this point), he condescendingly reminded us that we had already asked him once (he didn't seem to care that it was 30 minutes earlier). Our dinner service didn't "flow" and we spent a lot of time with absolutely nothing on the table between courses. The food was mediocre, nothing to rave about for the exorbitant price. Keeping the wine flowing was a priority for our waiter, but it was clear that he wanted to make as few trips to the bar as possible to accommodate our preferences. Our total bill was over $600, and the waiter had the audacity to suggest a 21% tip when presenting the bill. He's lucky he got 15%, and I struggled with that. We won't go back, and will not recommend Fleming's to our colleagues and friends.

The service was spectacular Kate and manager Robert Loomis made my birthday night one to remeber! Kids if you haven't been, it's a must. The wine and food is outstanding. What your still reading this and not eating your steak at Flemings? Shesh! Ps there's creme brûlée is sinful I tell you! I refused to share with my friend that evening...

I am a skeptic, what can I say? But what I do love is when a place proves me wrong. I went there last night for a friends birthday dinner and I was under the impression that this was just "another steakhouse." Boy was I wrong. I have NEVER had a filet as tasty as this one, and I have had A LOT of filets in my day. Order it medium and you will get the perfect amount of juices with their seasoning that satiates any meat lovers palate. Someone coming to the table every 5 minutes to let us know that they were so pleased we came to dine at their establishment was a little much, but none the less, it was kind of endearing. Their sides are ala carte. We got three and had PLENTY to split between five people. May I recommend the gorgonzola mashers and creamed spinach?? Oh, the zinger... it's a "black napkin" place. What this means is that if you are wearing black or a dark color they will offer you a black napkin so the white napkin doesn't rub off on your clothes. Never knew places did that.., I guess it makes sense. Valet is available, but a little tricky with the construction right now.. oh, and it's 6 bucks. Birmingham, when will you learn this isn't New York? But, just like New York, I can't wait to go back...

I have been to Fleming's a few times and have to give it mixed reviews. I usually get the salmon. At times it has been inedible and very gamey. The steaks are hit or miss but when they are the former, they are juicy, and tender . Salads are good. The Caesar has fresh romaine, a nice amount of parmesan, but the croutons are the cheap, stale ones. Desserts are good. They are at their best when they are garnished with fresh fruit. Service is average or below. It took way too long to get dinner last time - approx. 1hr. 2.5 stars. Rounded down be cause I remember more negative than positive things. Don't use the valet. There is a parking structure right behind the restaurant with the first two hours free.

It's about once a year that I throw down on a place like Flemming's. The bill may not be kind to your wallet, but to me, everything you get from the moment you walk in until the moment you leave is well worth the price. The decor of Flemming's is great; lots of wood and dim lighting. The music however, left something to be desired. However, I dug the fact that we were presented with black cloth napkins once we sat down. Now, onto the food. I started with the jumbo lump crab cake appetizer. In a word, fantastic. These things were huge, definitely the biggest crab cakes I've seen; they rested in a little pool of roasted red pepper coulis. They were a bit on the salty side, but still really, really good. As usual, I opted for the Filet Mignon, along with some roasted garlic mashed potatoes, and green beans. The filet was cooked just right, but there was something about it that was a little odd. It was good, but even so, I've had better. The green beans were pretty disappointing; they were cooked well, but there wasn't much flavor going on with them. The mashed potatoes on the other hand were a much different(and better) story. They were very smooth and creamy, without being watery and runny, and FULL of flavor. Some of the best mashed potatoes I've had in a long time. I somehow managed to save room for dessert, and decided on one of my favorites, creme brulee. Places like this always know how to do this dessert the right way. Very smooth, great vanilla flavor, and the fresh berry garnish was great as well. This was a great place to go, the service was good, albeit a touch overbearing at times. I'd recommend it, so save your pennies for a nice night out.

Everything was prepared perfectly and the service was perfect. But it was very boring food. The wine list was disappointing--probably because the focus was on offerering value. But all the wine we drank was good although ordinary.

I've eaten here a few times before, both as a dinner with just my husband and for group pharmaceutical dinners. The food I've had before had been very good up until my most recent group dinner. My filet was overcooked, almost well done when I had asked for medium rare. Our mashed potatoes were boring. I think they're a great spot for happy hour though.

Got a promo for some $$ off our dinner so we decided to give this place a try. Normally since we're young we get awful service because our waiters assume we'll be poor tippers- NOT the case at Flemings! We got a nice booth where we were able to look out onto the restaraunt and couldnt hear other conversations. It's not a quiet place but not jumping lively either- I would describe it with lots of enthused conversation. Anyways, we got excellent service and they really made us feel welcome! Our dinner included an appetizer, steak of course, and the chocolate lava cake which was out of this world. We were there for quite a while- 3 hours- but it didnt bother us. It seems that a lot of the complaints come from slow service, and I can understand that. However this was a special dinner for us and we didnt mind the leisurely pace. Our food always came to us pipping hot and fresh. That being said I wouldnt advise you to go when you are already hungry! Get there an hour before you plan to eat, and expect to stay for a little bit. We will definitely be going back- compared to other steak houses that we've been to (like Capitol Grille), this was the best.

Currently, Fleming's is one of my favorites. Their waiters so far have been very customer focused. They have good food and great specials. On certain weeknights, they have a special which includes an appetizer, entree, side and dessert. I have had their Caesar salad which is very garlicky :), their steak is delicious and slightly seasoned. They do provide three choices for complimentary sauces. For sides, I love their creamed spinach and mushrooms. The Flemings potatoes are a little on the spicy side. I have had all their desserts and my favorite is the Chocolate Lava cake. The best part is that if you go here for a birthday and let them know, they give you a giftcard and truffles! They definitely want people to return. Also, I love their wine list. You get to search for wine on a tablet and they have a lot of variation. Although, the app they designed for their wine list can be frustrating since it doesn't seem to get updated frequently.

Good food at reasonable prices for what you get. We've dined here quite a few times and have yet to be unsatisfied. Service is top notch and the overall ambiance is very comfortable with noise levels not too overwhelming. I will also say they did a fantastic group event with 20+ guests. I do not believe we a single unsatisfied guest either.

Very nice ambiance - brighter, lighter and more modern than a lot of other prime steakhouses. Food was great, juicy and tender, high quality meat nicely cooked. The portion of its filet mignon was a bit smaller compared to other major steakhouses like Capital Grille or Rugby Grille or Big Rock, etc., but just the right size for ladies. A variety of smaller plates available as well. Love the bread bowl and its dressings too! Price is reasonable, about $40-50/entree and $20ish small plates. Service was less attentive though. Not that easy to get attention from my waitress and it wasn't busy! ...

Had a wonderful meal with my boyfriend here - great service, food and good wine. A little pricy, but to be expected in the area. Totally worth it for a special occassion. Had the small plate of sliced filet in a Sriracha sauce. AWESOME, and I'm not that big on red meat. Would go back!

I went here because of their special between 5pm - 7pm. half off of few of their food and drinks. Well one of the meals that's half off is their Prime Steakburger. It was $6 (Originally $12). I would easily pay $12 for this hamburger. I would probably pay $20. It's that good. The hamburger is made of buttery brioche buns, bacon, cheese, nice sized medium cooked patty, it might of had tomato and lettuce but I don't remember because the only thing I do remember is the amazing taste of the buns, burger and bacon that melts in your mouth. I think the bacon was somewhat infused on top of the burger. It was super delicious and I said after few bites. "This might be the best hamburger I have ever eaten". It came with 2 huge onion rings that was amazing. It came with a southwest dressing dip that I used for the burger even though I think it was for the onion rings. It's really good. So 5 stars just for the hamburger so far. The service was top notch. Very fancy decor inside. You should dress up a bit to eat there. I don't think it's a good place for wearing tank top and sandles after 7pm. I think 5pm to 7pm, they might not care how you dress. It's a pricey restaurant if you don't get the special. I think it's only open for dinner. Good place overall.

The creme brulee is delicious! Perfect amount of caramelized sugar top layer and creme. Berries sprinkled on top are a nice addition. The filet mignon was deliciously seasoned. The blue cheese roasted garlic mashed potatoes had a a gross brown sauce on them. They are decent if you don't get them with the brown sauce. Not a fan of the mashed potatoes overall. The portion sizes of the sides should be larger considering the price. The mixed drinks are well made. No shortage on the alcohol content. Good place for groups/private dining. I went there for a work event. There was a private group in the room next to us using a microphone. It was a little loud and disruptive while we were conducting our meeting and listening to our presenters. They have a projector for viewing presentations. About two waiters were designated to serve our party of 13. Not sure if they charge fees for the room rental or projector.

Visited Flemings during the holidays for my girlfriend's birthday. Heard decent things about this place (apparently they have a good Happy Hour Special) and admittedly would've chosen a different place to go for the BDay celebration, however I was the lucky recipient of $100 in Gift Cards from various clients to Flemings....so, Flemings was the choice. Location is in downtown Birmingham. We went on a week night, however it was busy due to the holidays so we had to wait 1/2 for our table...which wasn't a huge deal because we didn't mind grabbing a drink at the bar while we waited, except...it took approximately 1/2 hour to get our drink from the Bartender. Yes, I could see that he was busy, but he acknowledged us once and did not return. I tried to get his attention a few times, however it was to no avail. Finally, I rather firmly butted my way in and made my drink order....and it still took a long time to get to us! Not a great start to the evening. Shortly after we received our drinks we were led to our table. Atmosphere is your typical, higher end steakhouse - Stuffy, nothing too out of the ordinary. Clientele was typical of upscale Birmingham - older, rich type people. Our waitress was nice, but still a little slow on drink refills orders - Having worked in the restaurant business for many years, I was rather unimpressed with the service - although it wasn't terrible, I would call it so - so and not up to the standards of what a restaurant of this price range should be. Food was Good, but un-inspiring. Bread given at the table was decent, but not as good as competitor restaurants (Capitol Grille IMO.) We had the Calamari app - It was delicious! We loved the sweet and spicy flavor. For the main dish, we both ordered the Prime Ribeye cooked Med Rare - Very good. Not "Oh my god I have to have this every week good", but overall it was a good dish. My GF thought the amount of fat on it was ridiculous, esp for a restaurant of this caliber, but I didnt mind it. The Mac & Cheese and Flemings Potatoes sides were good too, however we would recommend just getting one side - two was overkill. Dessert was unimpressive - we would've liked the chocolate lava cake, however the waitress told us it would take 15 minutes to make, so be ready for a wait (we wanted to get out of there) - Instead we ordered the Creme Brulee, which we still had to wait forever to get. It was decent but nothing special. Overall, I would NOT go to Flemings again. It was too expensive for what we got. Food was good but un-inspiring, service was iffy and the atmosphere was stuffy. Not worth the price, and if spending $160 on a meal, I want it to be top notch! I guess I value quality over appearance.

Flemings is exactly what it states in the title. A steak house and a wine bar. The night started out right with a delicious and pretty well priced Syrah. They have quite the extensive wine list, a definite plus in this wino's book ;) Starters: Shrimp Cocktail. The cocktail sauce had a hint of chipotle and is infused with Grey Goose Vodka. Talk about a winning combo! My gripe? As with all shrimp cocktails, there's too little shrimp for the price. Also, the "jumbo" shrimp appear to have shrunken...they looked like normal shrimp to me...3 average shrimps all lonely on a plate of crushed ice...worth it? Maybe for the cocktail sauce. I guess. For my entree I went with the Porcini rubbed Filet Mignon with Gorgonzola sauce and asparagus. I asked for medium rare and it was more medium. The meat didn't really seem like a filet to me...the cut had tendons and make it hard to cut...even with a steak knife. Usually filets are so tender and easy to cut. The side of Flemings Potatoes was a bit of a mediocre dish too. The potatoes weren't cooked long enough, so they were a bit crisp. The flavor of jalapeno was a nice combination with the baked cheese. What could have easily been a home run dish, fell short with the crispy potatoes. The atmosphere is very nice. Tall ceilings, lots of dark beautiful wood booths and a very large dining area. The kitchen is somewhat exposed and very tastefully done. They have large bottles of wine all around, you can tell the owners are wine lovers. The service was great and the dessert. Oh the dessert...creme brulee done to perfection. I'm going to go back another time in hopes this mediocre moment was a passing one and not their everyday standard.

From the moment my wife and I were greeted with warm smiles. We arrived early to try out the wine bar before dinner. The wine selections were great! The bar staff was very knowledgeable which made our selections perfect. Once seated, the server was great and the mall went off without a hitch. Great evening!!

Me and my wife had a great time here on our anniversary. The service was great, the food was wonderful. We both had steaks and when we cut into it, it cut like we were cutting butter. We also had the fully loaded baked potatoes, which was good also. I really recommend this place if you want to spend the night out eating good food. Also when you arrive, pull right in front of flemmings and the valet when be happy to park your ride.

Took my boyfriend here in December for his birthday. He had never been and I new the food was delicious. I had previously visited the location in Scottsdale and remembered how great the food, wine, drinks, and service was. We had a table setup in the back part of the dinning room, perfect romantic ambience. My boyfriend ordered a steak and was raving about it for days. I had a small plate lobster tempura which was good, the specials sounded amazing. Wine was paired perfectly with the meal. We will be back!

I was at Fleming's recently for a work-related dinner presentation (I do HIV-related social work, so we sometimes attend dinner presentations sponsored by pharmaceutical companies). I had never been to Fleming's before, so I can only base my review on their private event abilities thus far. First off, the cabernet they were serving was REALLY, REALLY good. I was impressed. I'm not overly fond of Michigan wine (don't get your panties in a wad; my native Californian nose and palate has a taste for Californian wine. MI wine is a bit too sweet), but this local wine was superb. And they kept it coming, which was even better! The caesar dressing was AWESOME. Generally speaking, I don't like caesar dressing, but this one had a bit of a kick to it, and that gave it just the edge it needed. Definitely recommend it. I ended up having the barbecue Scottish salmon. It was excellent. Cooked to perfection, with a tasty, crispy glaze. The salmon was of good quality, too. The sides - black peppercorn mashed potatoes and creamed spinach - were served family style. I adored both of the sides. I think I've mentioned before that I'm a mashed potato aficionado, and these were delish. The creamed spinach was TO DIE for. Seriously. I kinda wanted to Golem that ish and steal it away to some creepy cave, calling it "my precious." For dessert, they served vanilla creme brulee. It was pretty good, but my favorite part was the fruit on top. It wasn't the best I've had, but I'd likely order it again as my dessert. It was appropriately fluffy yet heavy, and very creamy. Overall, my experience at Fleming's was enjoyable!

The food has always been very good but the last two times we have been there for dinner, not appetizers, the services has taken forever! I don't blame the servers. The management/owners need to bump up their staffing. We are regulars in Birmingham and we are on the verge of not going back for dinner. They're Happy Hour is great, if you can get a spot in the bar, but when it comes to dining, we would suggest somewhere else if you require quick service. Our dinner took us 2 1/2 hours for service, including us taking our dessert to go.

I write this as a vegetarian who did not pay for his meal. All and all, it is not too shabby. I had the mushroom ravioli, caprese salad, mac and cheese, and the fleming salad. Everything was tasty, especially the ravioli. Everyone enjoyed their steaks. The food, though, is pretty damn expensive. It isn't a good value. If you want to blow a a few $100s on a meal, there are probably better places. Like, I could get 50 falafel king sandwiches just down Woodward. But if you have lots of disposable income, this is a place to include in your dining rotation. Also, the malbec was nice.

Went to Flemings on Friday evening with the girls & we got there about 6:30pm & just in time for the 'BEST HAPPY HOUR IN DETROIT!" They have a Specialty Drinks Menu you may order from an array of drinks for $5 bucks. Then we got the Mushroom Ravioli & The Capprochio which both were AMAZING~ All under $15 dollars, WOW~ I'm telling ALL my friends & see you next week Flemings!!!

The girls and I went to happy hour here. We were anticipating a young, trendy, upscale place, but instead we got a stuffy older environment. I think we were the only people in our 20s besides the employees. There was a great martini special (I think it was $6 for a martini that is normally $12) so we definitely took advantage of that! But we were definitely not the only ones and sure enough they ran out of cocktail glasses! We had waiters circling like vultures, swooping in to confiscate our partially-finished drinks. And drink orders that were twenty minutes overdue because of the shortage of drinkware. Once we got the drinks though, they were fabulous!! We ordered appetizers too (also on special) and those were awesome! The portions were huge! The check ended up being reasonable because we had ordered all the happy hour specials. Had we not gotten the special, the prices would not have been worth it. Overall this was a positive experience. Also I should note that this place was walkable from a parking structure which offers two hours free parking. It was also walkable to the Birmingham palladium, where we went afterwards to catch a show. It was a good way to spend a Friday evening.

My husband and I went to Flemings for our anniversary on a recommendation from a friend. She insisted that they were a great option for someone like Brian (with a gluten allergy), and she should know since she used to work there. I could go on and on about how wonderful this restaurant was: The food was excellent - as soon as our waiter heard about the gluten allergy he went back to the chef to discuss options. When he returned, all he said was, "We've got something great for you - just trust me." Brian is not the type to leave someone else to ordering his food, but he took a chance and was not disappointed. His meal consisted of three different steaks - all of which got rave reviews from Brian. I ordered the small plate of lamb chops and a salad - both were excellent. We ended with the ice cream and fruit for Brian and the carrot cake for me - again both very good. The service was impeccable. Our waiter was fast, efficient, helpful, and attentive to details. The chef came out after our meal to chat with Brian for a minute asking if everything met his standard. The manager of the restaurant stopped by to check with us as well. The hostess with cordial both upon our arrival and as we departed. A cool thing they offer - when you make reservations online, they keep your information on file. So before we left our waiter informed us that he would add Brian's food allergy to our file so it will be noted each time we returned. Pretty cool! The ambiance was lovely - this is a classy place to dine and makes for an obvious special occasion choice. The price was not cheap, but for the level of service and all around quality - I'd say it is worth it. It is not the type of restaurant Brian and I will be going to weekly, but certinly a place we will revisit from time to time. Overall, a nice choice!

Flemming's is another just okay restaurant. I admit, Im hard to impress, so perhaps you feel differently. I have only eaten here once and was not compelled to finish my meal, or return. The service was excellent, and the decor is very classy. I am not a huge lover of red meat so please go in and give the steak a try, disregarding my review. If you want creative food, this probably won't be your cup of tea.

Do not waste your time or money. Fleming is always doing specials and the night I went it was packed. I ordered a shrimp appetizer and it took a least 20 min to get to my table and it was overcooked. The service was slow and the only way to any attention is I flagged down the manger. Do Not go.. even if they are giving steaks away.

Last night Fleming's held us hostage for a 3 hour tour. Does this town really need another half assed Ruth's Chris knock off? Last night in an excruciating 3 hours and 15 minutes I found out. I should be bummed that the steaks half of us ordered were way over cooked and had to be sent back. Our table had to eat in shifts as the new steaks showed up 25 minutes later. Then the cuts were not what was originally ordered and were still not cooked correctly. Does medium-rare at Fleming's mean crispy dry leather outside and barely red and tough on the inside? Yes, apparently. I should be bummed that the potato and veggie side dishes seemed like heated up Stouffer's. Actually that's being cruel to Stouffer's - these were worse. I should be bummed that my beer was warm. No biggie, I can live. What really set me off was being ignored by the wait staff and the excruciating time between courses. It was long and tedious even in good company. We had a very simple meal order: shared appetizer, steaks, and dessert. Why did it take approximately one hour per course? In his defense, our waiter was very nice when he did appear and seemed concerned that he served half of us shoe leather. The amount of time between anybody showing up just got silly and we started wonder what would happen if we ordered dessert. One hour later we had our answer. It took twenty minutes for the lukewarm coffee, then we got to place our order for berries and the vaunted "Chantilly" cream. Twenty five minutes later as my group sipped what was left of our cold coffee, the tiny portions of out of season fruit and whip cream arrived. Wahoo! Did we have to ask for the bill? You betcha, but that only took a couple of minutes to show up.

Food was ok. Went here for Birminghams Restaurant Week and my steak was dry and the potatoes were cold. Salad & bread were different but good. Wine was good, though! I love the decor in this place. Its really dark yet classy. The bar area is really nice & big and they also have 99 calorie martinis! They also seem to have great drink specials. I'll go back for the bar but eating there is not in the future, sadly.

Eh, good not great. Had the seafood tower appetizer, $25 a person. I would think that a "tower" would mean plenty of food but they were pretty stingy. Two very tiny lobster tails, a couple crab claws, and a few pieces of shrimp. They did make me a nice salsa when I asked though and my dad completely devoured the bread basket. Food was good but not spectacular. Probably won't be back.

Great place for a date. Don't come broke, though. Happy hour is optimal time for great specials.

Good mini fillet-mignon, appropriately seasoned, perfectly seared. Great salad- simple lettuce, cheese, bacon, caper and fresh dressing. The desert was a disappointing flop- chocolate walnut cake/brownie with caramel that was way too sweet, way to thick after a meal like this- fruit cup would have been a better offering. A good meal needs a delicate balance, this restaurant has not mastered this art. Ambience is okay- severe AC on a cool evening in the high 50s? Open window would have been better.

We will never go back. I made a reservation for six people to celebrate a special occasion. Our reservation was for 8pm. We got there on time - the entire party - and we were told that our table "wasn't quite ready." We stood at the crowded hostess stand (apparently other people were also backed up on their reservations) and left to ourselves. I would check in every few minutes and kept getting the same answer, "Not quite ready." Finally at 8:50pm I asked for the final time and was told there were "four tables ahead of us." I told the hostess we were leaving. She shrugged her shoulders and crossed off our name. We were never given an apology, offered free drinks. Nothing. We also happened to run into friends who also had an 8pm reservation. They were still standing in the lobby when we left. Luckily, there are a number of fine restaurants in our neighborhood and we were able to walk to another one and had a lovely dinner. None of the people in our party will ever return to Fleming's. This is not the upscale restaurant they pretend to be. I have never encountered a more unfriendly, uncaring staff. Stay away.

Go to Ruth Chris. Flemings wasn't bad, but it just is not nearly as good as Ruth Chris but it is still the same price. The filet was fatty, and the beef carpachio lacked flavor. Again, not bad, just no where nearly as good as ruth chris.

I had my FAVORITE chocolate mousse dessert with a oreo crust last night. I don't often order dessert, but I always have to have this! The chef drizzles with a creme sauce and there are candied walnuts. They are taking off the menu at the end of the month; and although, I am VERY sad to see it go, I am looking forward to see what he will do next!

Flemings are typically good where ever they may be, this one is no different. Good wine selection, very good steaks prepared how you like them best. Attentive service in a nice environment. Flemings provides you the canvass for a great evening. Just add some fun friends and/ or family and it can be a memorable experience.

I was a bit underwhelmed at the experience of dining at Fleming's. Had the service been better, I might have rated them higher. My friend and I came here for dinner one evening last week. They had a cute little Ipad loaded with all the wine options, making it easy to peruse their selection. I ordered a bottle when the waitress came around. She retrieved the bottle and in the process of uncorking it, asked to see my ID. I understand, I appear much younger than I actually am. But she should have asked me straight away for it when I ordered the bottle for us. My friend good naturedly joked if she wanted to see his ID. She didn't think it was funny. Then, after handing the ID back to me, she poured a sip of wine into HIS glass to taste. Now, he wasn't the one that ordered the wine. I did. I have had that particular wine before so I know it's good but she should have poured both of us a taste, in my opinion. I felt it to be a bit rude. We ordered our steaks and some sides. We each got a trio of medallions which was their special for the evening. I ordered my medallions medium. The first medallion was medium, the second, medium well and the third, well done. It was odd, to say the least. The meat was good but perhaps a bit too salty. I thought the Fleming's potatoes and the mushroom sides were delicious. Again, our wine glasses were empty and the waitress wasn't particularly motivated to refill or even check on us. It was not a busy night so she wasn't stressed by any means. Literally right after receiving our steaks, she asked if we wanted dessert since the molten chocolate cake takes 20 minutes to bake. No, we just started eating, we're obviously not in a rush. Cool your jets. We did end up ordered the molten chocolate cake which was delicious. So the food was good, comparable to Eddie Merlot or Ruth Chris but in this instance, the service was less than extraordinary.

My boyfriend took me to Flemings for a birthday dinner. Our waitress was amazing. We are more of beer connoisseurs, not wine. We had a lot of questions about wine and our waitress gave us a little lesson. It was very interesting. She taught us the etiquette in ordering wine and the order she goes in pouring the wine. I wish I remembered her name to give her credit! She also recommended Tania's pizza and told us the her and her husband are huge fans of Tania's. Naturally, we are fond of rave reviews and we tried out her recommendation. It was a delightful experience.

BI Location Ambiance: dark, large table, cool waiter, food plated beautifully Food: we didnt get steaks but the salmon was ok and the lobster was rubbery. Crabcakes good but not the best. Onion rings not seasoned. Drinks were perfect and complimentary bread was good too. Overall: great service and str8 food but I expected better.

My bf and I came for dinner last night and had a great meal! While we were waiting at the table, we ordered cocktails at the bar - I had a blood orange margarita that was delicious and my bf had a "new old fashioned" which he seemed to like. After we sat down, since we ended up having to wait a bit for our table the manager came by and told us that he would be comping our appetizer. We had the seared ahi tuna, and it was fabulous! The blackened crust on the tuna was a little bit spicy which was great, and it was cooked really well. For dinner, we both got the specials. My bf got a piece of monkfish in some kind of lemony-peppery sauce that was totally delicious. I had the trio of filets, all were good but two of them were excellent - perfectly cooked to a medium and accompanied by a little bit of mashed potato and some tender asparagus. If I hadn't been so stuff, I would have loved to stick around for dessert! The only thing I found wanting was the wine that I chose: the 14 Hands cabernet was just so-so. Other than that, the wait staff was extremely professional and courteous and it was overall a really great meal!

The bf and I came back here for a spontaneous dinner!!! We requested Melvin's section, and again, he was an absolute delight!! I didn't get the name of the lady who was co-training with him, but she was great, as well. She got us the score of the Tigers-Red Sox game when we asked, was prompt to refill our drinks, and worked hard (along with the busboys and everyone else) to make our night special. We ordered: - French onion soup: this was really good!!! The bf loves this, so we get it everywhere we go, and the waitstaff who brought it out was kind enough to bring 2 spoons since we said we were sharing. :) - Calamari: this wasn't as good as I remembered, but I think that's bc I was also SO HUNGRY that I devoured bread AND the soup...and by the time I got to the calamari, I was full. Next time, bf and I are gonna skip the soup and appetizers and go straight to the entrees bc they were AMAZING, but our stomachs couldn't give them the love and attention they deserve. - Pork rib chop: deeeeeelicious. Geez. It blows my mind how good the pork rib chops are...I usu HATE pork chops, but I really loved it here. It comes on top of a bed of apples, I think. - Prime ribeye: the bf ordered his rare+ (didn't know it was an option - we learned that it was thanks to Melvin!) and was blown away by every bite. He was so pleased with his meal. - Garlic mashed potatoes: delicious, as well!! We both think they're a little too garlic-y, so if they weren't so heavy-handed on their garlic, the meal would've been a 5+! Bf and I have been really disappointed with the fine dining options in Detroit.. I feel like it doesn't compare to other places we've been to outside of Michigan. We went into Flemings with no expectations at all (other than it's a chain, so it's whatevs) and left both agreeing that it's one of our new faves in the Detroit area. Service here is spectacular, there's so much attention provided to detail and to YOU and your experience here, and the food is consistently delicious. Can't wait for tomorrow's dinner - I'm heating up my pork rib chop and mashed potatoes leftovers! ;)

My family and I came here to celebrate my husbands birthday. It is a very nice atmosphere and perfect for birthday celebration. For starters, I ordered the lobster bisque soup and it was given to me ice cold. For the price, I had to send it back. They promptly took it off our bill and I was given a fresh soup which I appreciated. I was surprised when everyone's dinner came out just how small the "shareable" sides were. Everyone seemed to enjoy there meal but unfortunately my filet was so overlooked I could barely eat it. I asked for it medium and it came out overly well done. Plus, it was cold! I didn't want to be that person at the table that kept sending back my meal so I just sucked it up and ate what I could. The mashed potatoes with Parmesan peppercorn were really good along with the creamed spinach. I will say everyone else in my family really enjoyed their meal and my brothers kept raving about the bone in strip steak. The staff gave my husband a gift card to come back since we went for his birthday and I'll for sure come back and give them another try since everyone else had a better experience.

BOTH menu and wait person - NOT vegetarian friendly! It's Birmingham's restaurant week, made dinner suggestion to my friend for her B-day. She picked this restaurant, no vegetarian dish on the restaurant week menu for me; many restaurants (i. e. Rugby Grille of Townsend), offered to create good dish for vegetarians in the party, NOT Flemings. The hostess was great! Wait person is another story, when ask for suggestions, he indicated they are a steak restaurant, got cold should there already. I ordered the mushroom raviolis appetizers and ask to put in some veggies. The raviolis were cooked firm to the bite; however, the grilled asparagus was hard. My dish contains 2 big portabella mushrooms, 5 asparagus and some pepper slices; they charged it for $22. My friend ordered the filet mignon from the restaurant week menu, the size is petite; the mini-desserts were 2 truffles, I don't count this as dessert! Wait person did not pay much attention to our table after we put in the order; still tip him over 20%. Having another reservation this Friday at Forest Grill, they have vegetarian on their restaurant week menu. Detroit Restaurant Week is always vegetarians friendly, please go and try them all in Spring and Fall.

Cesar salad is a wonderful mix of bold flavors. The F17 steak sauce was wonder and served warm in a shot glass. The asparagus was super flavorful and nutty. They have an extensive wine list and a wonderful assortment of mixed drinks. My financee' had 2 of their small plates which actually come with a lot of food for a small plate. It's a bit pricey for a casual dinner, but a wonderful location for a special occasion.

I'll start off with saying that she ordered the crab stuffed filet mignon with asperagus and house salad. I had the prime rib with bone, mashed potatoe and corn chowder. From what she said she really enjoyed her cuisine as well as the atmosphere. I tried a bite of her filet mignon and I can honestly say it was better than my prime rib. The filet was cooked perfectly at a medium +. I am not saying the prime rib was bad at all, because it also was cooked perfectly to medium rare. I also ordered a side Au Jus, excellent. Have you ever tried somebody else's food that you're eating with and said "damn, should've ordered that", that was me. Again, through and through the food was absolutely amazing. For the rest of the meal I had the garlic mashed potatoes and also they were excellent. The corn chowder was great as well, but could've of used a little bit more of some sort of spice or herb. It was a tiny bit flat tasting. It still was very good though and they must've used three entire corn on the cobs, because it wasn't lacking any corn at all. Not a bad thing at all. The chowder was one of the chefs specials for the day. Now onto the decor, it's nothing special. It has a franchise feel to it because it is a franchise I believe. I'm not knocking it at all it was very well kept and very clean. Our waiter was a great guy as well. I wish I remembered his name. I know this review is all over the place. As most are saying on here that it is great place with beyond excellent meat cooked perfectly and superb staff.

My husband and I have eaten at Fleming's many times. We decided to go there with another couple on New Year's Day. The restaurant was a little busy, so we sat in the bar area. Our waitress was very bubbly with the husbands, and didn't pay much attention to the wives. We had so many problems with her. We put our order in almost right away, and yet, we were there for 3 hours. We were never given silverware. Then, when she brought our wine, my glass was dirty. I had to wait at least 20 minutes to flag her down, and get a new glass. Appetizers came out, and the salads. The food was good, no complaints there. When the bus boy cleared our plates, they took our silverware. Next up, we get our main entrees. They look great, but alas, we don't have anything to eat them with. So we had to wait a few more minutes to get silverware. We asked for water refills multiple times before we got it. This waitress was horrible. She never paid any attention to our table. Never once, did we complain about the food, or had anything sent back. We simply asked for silverware, and water. When we ordered dessert, they served it without spoons. I mean, Come On!!!! Like I said, we have been here several times, and the service this time was nothing i have ever seen before. Usually the waiters are on top of everything, and very accommodating. The food was absolutely amazing, and my filet was cooked to perfection. IF it wasn't for that, I would have left a much lower rating. Next time I go, I'll make sure not to sit in the bar area, or have the same waitress wait on us. She needs to go.
