Healthy Meal suggestions for Tim Hortons

Let me start by saying Tim Hortons is the worse mass produced coffee on the planet. The coffee's flavor is blended to taste good when served as a double double. So imagine drinking black coffee that is only meant to taste good with a quarter cup of cream and two large helpings of sugar. All that being said, my children go to preschool near here and I have spent an afternoon eating bagels and drinking crappy coffee rather than brave 94 only to drive back again to pick them up in a few hours. The location is super clean and the staff is very fast and friendly. I have been reminded several times that my bagel order would be cheaper if I would buy a half-dozen rather than 5.

On our drive from Jackson, Michigan back to Detroit, we pulled off the interstate to gas up, and spotted a Tim Horton's coffee and donut house across the street. For those who don't know, Tim's has been THE donut franchise throughout Canada and portions of the United States, and they've attracted a cult-like following of devoted donut munchers from sea to shining sea. Tim Horton was a professional ice hockey player for 22 years, and there has always been a special connection between hockey fans and Tim Horton's Donut Shoppes. Since I'm not a coffee drinker I cannot fathom the infatuation for a fresh cup o' Tims, though there are plenty of people lining up for their coffee, hot tea, cocoa, or soda drinks. They also have breakfast sandwiches, breakfast paninis, bagel sandwiches, wraps, maple biscuit breakfast sammies and more. For lunch they have traditional deli subs, paninis, wraps, bowls of chili and soup. But let's be honest, the majority of people stop at Tim Hortons for their baked goods - muffins, bagels, cookies, pastries, and donuts. The donuts are made fresh throughout the day, and you're likely to find any number of the following: *Apple Fritter *Chocolate Dip *Honey Dip *Vanilla Dip *Maple Dip *Chocolate Glazed *Double Chocolate *OId Fashion Plain *Old Fashion Glazed *Sour Cream Plain *Strawberry Vanilla *Strawberry *Boston Cream *Canadian Maple *Sour Cream Glazed *Honey Cruller *Blueberry This time of year you'll also see their amazing pumpkin lineup which includes Pumpkin Pie iced cappuccino and the decadent Pumpkin Pie latte. You'll find their new pumpkin bagel, Pumpkin Pie donut, or a Pumpkin Spice muffin or donut. We pulled into Tim's parking lot and ran in to use the facilities and buy a donut for rest of the way back to the airport. I tried one of the new pumpkin spice donuts, and it was superb! If you happen to be in the right part of the country, or near any of the major ice hockey arenas then you're probably familiar with Tims. Go there, have a donut and some coffee. You'll be glad that you stopped.

Timmie's is always muy bueno but this particular location is quite slow. Stopped in for lunch while headed back to Chicago. Ordered the new spicy chicken sandwich -- which is delicious. The chicken itself is average, but the bakery fresh bun really does it for me. Had a medium coffee as well. Gf ordered a combo with chips and I added a wrap snacker. It took about ten minutes to get everything because, for whatever reason, the manager thought having two people in the entire store at 3:30 on a Sunday afternoon was a good idea. The workers were doing their best, but there's only so much they can do as one person is constantly splitting off from food prep to handle drive through orders. There are a pocket of THs in the Ypsi area off 94, so I usually get my fix headed west in this vicinity. I'll try another one next time I'm on the road.

I want to love American Timmy's like my Canadian homeland variety, but it just ISN'T even close. The coffee is off in flavour from what you get in Canada. The service is SLOW, maybe this is an American thing!? Because across the midwest, every Timmy's I've tried is usually slower than any Canadian version I've been in. The coffee... *sigh* oh the coffee, it is NOT the same. The typical coffee I get here tastes like it was burnt? Maybe they have it on too hot on the heater element? But it consistently has this aftertaste of being burnt. The lack of things like "Roll up the rim to win!" and other "Canadian'esque like' vibes are lacking (yes, I know its American owned by Wendy's) but I expected something else. I still come here, because... well its Timmy's damnit! I want to be surprised one day that they ACTUALLY have "steeped tea" (and not just a blank stare when I request it, followed by "bag tea?").

I would rather go to other Tim Horton's then this location. The one on Whittaker, has quicker and friendly service. I am basing this off more than one visit. I have seen people wait 15 minutes for a plain coffee, because I got a sub. Service is barely with a smile. I feel like I am bothering them. Went tonight in hopes that with the remodel it would be a fresh start. Looks very nice, but it doesn't look like a place that is big for selling donuts. The donut case is so little. I think it is actually smaller then the one they had before upfront to display chips. I kid you not, I think there were only about 30 donuts total. No muffins, 5 bagels, and a dozen cookies. I think if someone came and got a dozen they would clean them out. I think they have a bigger choice at WALMART!!! This location wants to go for the coffee, and meals. Forget treats, the treat that I was trying to get for my son for dessert. Too Limited. I will go to Speedway when I am trying to stay on Rawsonville. I was very disappointed... I wanted a muffin (any kind really) and my son wanted a long john type donut with creme filling.

Don't let the long lines scare you. This Tim Horton's knows how to take care of business. When I walk in the door, they start pouring my medium black coffee with vanilla syrup. Everyone who works here is really nice and friendly. The donut displays always look clean and properly aligned. The donuts themselves always taste fresh and delicious. The Rawsonville Tim Horton's is the perfect stop to break up my very long morning commute!

Check your order if you go through the drive-thru! This location has officially lost my business. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me 3 more times, shame on me I guess. I really like the concept of this place; slightly better than Mickey D's or BK with a sizable menu. However, they constantly screw things up. Wrong side item, wrong meat on the breakfast sandwich, wrong bagel type, etc. A missing hashbrown this morning was the last straw for me. Sure a hashbrown is under a buck, but I paid for it and expected it in the bag. Is that too much to ask? The staff is friendly, but don't let their pleasant demeanor and smiling face fool you: they've almost certainly f'ed up your order. If management wants to reach out to me, feel free. I'll give you another shot if you commit to doing better.

I stop in monthly for a double double coffee with an added shot of vanilla. Double cream, double sugar. Other than that I just get my coffee with skim milk and splenda and the vanilla shot which doesn't make me nearly as happy but is much better for my blood sugar, I used to be more of a cafe mocha fan, which is half Timmie's coffee, half hot chocolate but tastes change. I am not a huge fancy coffee drinker. Timmies is reliably darned good simple coffee, cheap as chips and makes me happy. If you delve into the baked goods, I like the bagels alright, the chocolate chip and pumpkin muffins work too. The doughnuts are hit and miss but I am a snob about that. Personally it makes me annoyed they no longer carry butter tarts but I have the Canadian blood that requires them and all. I also have to drive over the border to get their properly brewed tea which is the bomb. I wish they had both here (as well as nanaimo bars, a girl can only dream though) and it would be a five star.

Timmy's was all but a myth for me for many years. Some claimed it rivaled my favorite drive-through coffee spot, Dunkies [aka Dunkin Donuts], but I could not believe it. I passed by a Tim Horton's once while on a road trip to northwestern New York state, but never had a chance to try them until I moved here. The one thing I demand of drive-through coffee is simply: get the coffee right. Go ahead and put cream cheese on the bagel I asked to be buttered, give me a chocolate glazed instead of a chocolate dipped, I don't care. Just don't screw up my caffeine. I seem to hit this Timmy's about once a week. They have never, ever messed up the coffee order. They did once put cream cheese on the bagel I asked to be buttered -- it was still tasty. One of the few times I ordered a chocolate donut they got me the wrong kind -- it was still yummy. But when they toast and butter a bagel, well, if it's not real butter at least it doesn't taste like cheap margarine, and the bagel is pretty good, too. And the coffee *is* better than Dunkies. *sob* It's true. Now I can never set food in New England again. I'll be run out of eastern Massachusetts on a rail. I tried one of the breakfast sandwiches once. It was quite tasty, and far less greasy than the one from the golden arches.

As far as a Tim Horton's goes, this place is top notch. They are fast, don't mind special orders and the bathrooms are always clean.

I get a large coffee from the Window about once a month. I stop at the next door hit & miss McDonald's window for the young ones, have everyone inspect their order & then pull up to Tim Horton's for a large American Coffee (Just to set the record straight, coffee originated here and was exported by stout men to Italy and France. Heavy fat infested frilled-sleeve coffee mixes came here from France...& Italy). I was surprised the first time. I did not need to repeat my order and I got three creamers in a small bag. Having been on the road a lot over the years, I guess I was trained by drive-by burger joints to always expect the unexpected & to be ready to repeat my complex coffee order a few times....and still have it come WRONG. It is complex: Large American Coffee, do not put cream or sugar in it. Three creamers on the side. I tried every possible way of saying this order. No go. I gave up and just make sure I get the creamers and lift the lid to make sure the coffee is black. This Tim Hortons, which is next door to the Clown Burger Window Services, always gets my "highly complex" order correct and I never have to repeat it! Imagine. High local unemployment rate, yet the nearby fast food joints have the same unfocused, rather be back at the party types they had when available solid employees were much fewer. I credit Tim Horton's management.
