Asian Garden Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

The food was quite disappointing. The veggie rice was dry and contained no veggies! Only a few freeze dried carrots and absolutely no egg. A first for me. I asked for light sauce on my sesame chicken yet my plate came drowning in it. The egg roll was okay at best :/

Asian Garden has been through a variety of changes (name included) and drama through the years. Despite that it has remained, mostly by a local customer base that really has no where else to go. I really should try some of the other food here, I get exclusively Chinese, though the restaurant is now billed as Vietnamese and Sushi as well. As for the Chinese, it's simple, a good value, and perfectly acceptable. It is the only Asian restaurant with an appropriate dining room in Belleville but I get take out only. The service is pleasant and very friendly, and better than it was a restaurant ago. Stop by it you're ever in the area.

So i wasn't looking for a place to delivery but only pickup; since i was at work and this place very close. It wasn't a bad location - previously i thought this place was this other food spot I enjoy back when but i guess they closed. It took about 10 to 15mins to have food ready and their carryout container were hard plastic which I enjoyed. The portion was enough for two people unless you wanted to be greedy like i was. I highly suggest visiting their website if you are unsure about what you are looking for - inside of the location wasn't busy at all and matter of fact when i walked in their was only one person sitting in the entire place.

This is consistently very good food with great service. I like the Vietnamese vegetable rolls and the crunchy fried noodle. The curry fried rice is also a really nice dish since they don't skimp on the curry. Service is friendly with that little extra touch such as slices of fruit at the end of the meal. Very nice.

I was staying at the Days Inn a couple minutes away and found this place through Yelp. I initially came for the pho, but when I got there, I found out that they didn't have any sort of vegetarian version. (How hard is it to have vegetable broth in your pantry and to throw in some veggies/tofu that any Asian restaurant would carry...? Apparently hard enough not to offer it.) Already disappointed, I ordered the ma po tofu instead (without pork) and an extra side of brown rice with it for takeout. My total came out to around $11, which was pretty reasonable for what I was getting. However, right before my order was sent to the kitchen, I asked if they add MSG into their food. MSG is considered a flavor enhancer and gives food an artificially savory taste. Restaurants that don't add MSG have to properly season their food for it to reach a natural savory taste, which takes longer and is a costlier process. Some people may like it, but if you're looking for natural flavors, MSG will basically overwhelm everything in your dish. I do my best to avoid MSG, just because it's been linked to unhealthy weight gain and I prefer natural flavors in my food. They said they do add MSG, but that they can leave it out of my food. I agreed, figuring that this meant it would be cooked in an alternative way for maximum flavor. Or at least they would add some salt instead. When I got back to my hotel room, I found that they cooked my food in exactly the same way they always do, albeit without the MSG. That meant that the tofu that made up most of my dish - which is already a naturally bland food and relies heavily on the seasoning in the sauce it's cooked in - tasted like I was eating a lot of spicy nothing. And the two packets of soy sauce they included did very little to change that. I didn't even have salt on hand to add to the dish myself. Obviously whoever cooked my food had no idea what they were doing. The ambiance of the place also screams tacky, stereotypical Asian decor and isn't a place I would recommend for a date if you're trying to impress. 1.5 stars

On second visit, this time with a big crew (6 adults, and as many kids). Food was still just OK by our snobbish native-eater standards, but passable for our group of Korean, Chinese, Burmese, Filipino, and Vietnamese eaters. We also ordered a ca kho to (caramelized cat fish in clay pot) to go, which we haven't tried yet, but looked great (it's a pain to make at home)! Best of what we ordered: pho dac biet, which two other Vietnamese and Cantonese couples came in to order as well (the waitress / owner? spoke both fluently). The bun and com dia (pork and beef) were not great, relative to what you find in places with other Vietnamese restaurants (best around are in Warren and Windsor). Salted squid was just OK, and a relatively small portion, vs. the price (given how amazing the prices are for everything else, it doesn't seem fair to complain!). The waitress steered us away honestly from some of the more ambitious dishes we'd asked about - bun bo hue isn't something you see in your average Chinese-Vietnamese restaurant, and she confirmed they didn't have all ingredients to make it well. Service was somewhat slow, but not surprising given it was likely just mother and daughter (and cook) for the whole restaurant. They were very sweet, though, treating us to free crab rangoon while we waited. Something tells me they probably do amazing Chinese-American standards, and I might just try that next time. Still, the pho is certainly worthy (and authentic - real bo vien, tripe, basil, lime, no substitutes) - and at the price, a must-try!

I ended up at Asian Garden with a small group of friends after discovering that, no, there aren't very many restaurants open on New Years Day. Go figure. Our group of four was seated quickly, and our drink orders were taken; water, Coke, hot tea, root beer. Those came in a timely manner. Their menu contained different types of Asian foods including sushi, Thai, American Chinese, and perhaps even authentic Chinese. And of course there were quite a few vegetarian options. I'd ordered miso soup, cucumber sushi roll, and Ma Po Tofu. My partner ordered Pad Thai with sweet and sour soup. Our friends places their orders at the same time. Between placing our orders, and bringing out both mine and my partner's soups, our waitress changed. We asked about our friends' soup since they'd ordered some as well. The new waitress stated that she hadn't seen it on the ticket, but went off to get it right away. Same thing happened with the main course; our friends's meals were completely forgotten. We asked after she came to check up on us; apparently those hadn't been written down either. She had the chef make their orders immediately. By the time their food came out, ours was cold. We'd been picking at it, but it felt rude to eat while they waited. Our second waitress handled everything very well and was very nice, but the negligence of the first waitress was irritating despite that. We ended up receiving a complimentary order of crab rangoon for the trouble. The food itself was okay. My miso soup was fine, not remarkable. Same with the cucumber rolls. And my Ma Po Tofu was okay. My partner loved the sweet and sour soup, but disliked and was unable to finish their main dish. Once their food came, our friends enjoyed it. So with average food, and iffy service, I don't know if I'll come back. This may have been a fluke experience since other reviews reflect nicer experiences. On the plus side, they were open on New Years!

With the limited options in Belleville, this place always makes me happy. I usually eat from the Vietnamese menu, while my companions tend toward the Chinese options. I have eaten the green beans several times. Yesterday they were just what I needed. They were so garlicky that my mouth was watering while driving back home with our takeout! The beans didn't disappoint. They were perfectly cooked and seasoned with a gorgeous basil flavor. The kids with fried rice and sesame chicken. While I cannot comment on the flavor, I can say that the kids loved it because it was all gone in a flash. I am certain this restaurant could offer better food, if they shortened up their menu and didn't cater so much to the palate of the locals, but they need to stay in business! They are fast, friendly and helpful with questions about the food. They have some fairly healthy choices, a lot of vegetarian options, and a lot of selections for picky eaters. After living in this area about two years, I'm happy with this place. It is better than the other Chinese restaurant close by and gives us a good, non-fast food chain option when we are in a hurry.

I had heard that this place was good. That was not accurate. It is GREAT! Restaurant setting, nice tables. Upon receiving the Egg Drop Soup, it is not overpowering but nice and flavorful. Since I was not sure about the spice level of the General Tso's Chicken so I ordered the spice relish on the side. The General comes with a sauce on it to which the spices are added. I recommend ordering this way because you can add spice to each piece (as I did) or the whole thing to suit your spice tolerance. It was rich flavorful and delicious. I have been to Asian Fusion and they are delicious, INYO in Ferndale is a great example.... but with a $30 per plate price tag. The cost of a General Dinner soup and soft drink....under $15. But here is the kicker..... if Chinese was made from scratch fresh, this is how I imagine it would be..... WELL WORTH THE TRIP & PRICE!!

I am also Vietnamese and authentic food is difficult to come by. However, this tucked away joint has impressed me. Such variety for my taste palate and it reminds me a bit of home. I had the rice dish and even the type of rice (broke rice) was used versus normal jasmine rice. My friend had the grilled chicken vermicelli - complete with fish sauce! LOL. I would definitely go again and try to venture the other dishes.

The Pho is so great here and the prices are spot on. Service is really friendly and they were really kind when we showed up at 9:30 (they close at 10). If you are looking for a hot bowl of "soup" then this is a really great place for you.

Last week after a long work day, Tony and I took the baby here for some dinner. We had the best server we've ever had and it was GREAT. Totally made the experience so much better. We ordered a few different sushi rolls, fried rice, and spring rolls. BE AWARE- If you spend over $30 you get a free order of crab rangoons. Sadly, I never have enough room after eating all of the food we order! It's no Sushi House, but it's close to home, can get my sushi fix, and has Chinese/Vietnamese options to boot :)

When I heard through the grapevine that there was a vietnamese restaurant in a strip mall near the Belleville Rd exit, I was slightly shocked as I drive by that location at least once a month on a random basis... but when I searched it out, there it was behind a McDonalds next to a HandR Block and a Dollar Tree. I was thrilled to see a Vietnamese restaurant not 15 minutes from my house, but reading some of the reviews, I did not have very high hopes. Came in for lunch on Friday and was kind of amazed at the different dishes on the lunch menu. Literally every single generic Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai dish was available. Furthermore, the atmosphere was generic Chinese at its finest. But, I was ready to give the Vietnamese food a decent chance. I ordere the guoi cuon and the requisite bun vermicelli dish with beef, pork and egg rolls that i always use to guage the quality of Vietnamese restaurant we're looking at and I was mildly suprised to get some egg drop soup as part of my lunch... not that it was any good... it was probably the least flavorful soup I have had in my entire life. Then my guoi cuon comes out with this odd peanut butter sauce... it was strange. Luckily there was hoisin sauce on the table, which went much better with the summer roll... the roll itself was also bland-ish but probably because i was expecting shrimp... apparently that's another 50 cents. Anyways, after my apps, the bun vermicelli came and it was good, but not great. The grilled beef was definitely the best part as the pork that came with it was not juicy or flavorful at all- it was like a Wal-Mart pork chop cut up and seasoned with some pepper and that was it. Finally, my spring roll that is always cut when served with bun was not cut, so i had to cut it myself. The roll was quite greasy and when I had a bite, I didn't taste anything but cabbage. There were lots of good cucumber and shredded carrot and some mint, but not much, and the lettuce was old and slightly brown which wasn't appetizing. The fish sauce was also dull. Overall, I came in with low expectations and was not disappointed. However, for a vietnamese restaurant I would give this a low 2... in the general vicinity though, when the next best restaurant is Culver's, at least they get a 3 for effort and being an oasis in a dearth of Asian food options in this small area. If I worked closer or was a Belleville resident, this would be a go-to place just to see how the other dishes turned out... but in terms of genuine Vietnamese cuisine, Dalat in Ypsilanti and Pho Hang/Que Huong are going to stay my mainstays.

I am a huge fan of Vietnamese Pho. I got the shrimp spring rolls and the rice paper wrapper was still hard and crunchy and it smelled weird, I ripped it open and it was full of brown lettuce. I was disappointed by the spring rolls. At least the peanut sauce was fantastic. The pho however was great. I got a spicy pho, I can't remember what it was called exactly...but it had beef strips in it that were like a delicious pot roast. I don't know if I would call it SPICY because it really wasn't it all, but it is some of the best pho I have had.

There used to be an awesome buffet of interesting Chinese food which was very nearly cooked to order in this location so I was not thrilled to see this takeover at all. Gah I will miss the Korean chicken full of perfectly cooked peppers... That being said I was very intrigued by the prospect of a Vietnamese place being so close to my house. If it had been good Vietnamese then it would have rocked but alas it was not. I am no expert but I have had Vietnamese I really enjoyed and this wasn't it. I think the problem here is they try to do too many things, Chinese, Vietnamese and sushi. Instead they need to focus on getting one of them right. I sampled some vermicelli noodles with chicken and was less than wowed, where was the taste? Spring rolls were ok but also just bland. The items were fresh but could have used something to jazz it up, fish sauce maybe, more lemongrass? Something to make the palette wake up a bit. I don't know if they are afraid the Belleville locals can't handle it or what but no one is going to be wanting to delve into Vietnamese if this is what they think it is. I think they underestimate the people in this area and do them a real disservice as a result. It feels like they lack faith in their food or that they feel it must be dumbed down for the populace to really enjoy it. They offer bland Chinese as a lure and don't even liven up the Vietnamese because apparently those ignorant locals won't know or appreciate any better. If this had been my first tiptoe in Vietnamese I would have been left with the impression it was not a very flavorful or interesting cuisine in general which is sad to me because Vietnamese done well is so bright and full of great flavors and fun herbs. I think people who try it in its best form will fall in love and I wish this were a place that taught people, even people who have no prior experience, that hey this is a cuisine you need to dive into and explore more. Likewise my husband was less than impressed with the strictly standard mostly fried Chinese fare. I think he is still sad about the mango chicken from the other place at any rate. Really the Chinese menu is quite disappointing now in general. If you are going to offer Chinese at least try to make something interesting or something that is a particularly good rendition of a standard rather than overcooked and blandly over sauced. After that meal we never have returned for sushi experimentation or another try at anything else for that matter, just not too inspired really.

Went there today with a good friend of mine. After reading some of the reviews, I was unsure of what we were getting into. After arriving and being promptly seated, we were asked our drink orders withing 4 minutes of sitting down. Our orders were taken rapidly and soups and appetizers came out on time and tasted phenomenal. Our server was extremely friendly and always made sure our drinks were full! :-) The entrées were cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. Now, I understand that this isn't PF Chang's or anything, hence the 4 star rating. But for this location and area, it was perfect. I would definitely take a group there or EVEN a date :-)

I was very impressed with the Pho here. We've tried every place in Ann Arbor and it's always so-so, but it was fantastic here! I'm also a big sushi fan and also thought the rolls were pretty good. Since it has a little bit of a lot of asian style foods I wasn't expecting much, but I will definitely go out of my way to go here again.

This place sucks! It started with hot and sour soup being dumped down the front of my blouse and white summer skirt. The soup itself was bland and tasteless. I had ordered very spicey, but that did'nt happen. The cliantro chicken arrived with white rice. I had specifically asked what came with this dish. The waitstaff said fried rice. Why then is this rice white? The cilantro chicken itself was dry and tasteless other than being hot from a large dose of cayenne pepper thrown in. Now mind you both my tongue and tastebuds can handle hot to very hot., but the waitstaff never mentioned that this dish is hot. Not everyone can handle. This was also one of the specials of the day and it was not listed on the specials board either. Yes, the waitstaff did apologize for dumping the soup on me. But the really irritating thing was that repeatedly she said "No problem." Look lady it might not be a problem for you as you are not the one with the food stains down the front of your clothes. You are not the one that has to cancel evening plans to return home and wash these stains out. Thank goodness for All and Clorox. When exiting I took a business card and asked for the owners name. The staff refused to give me this information. This is not a language barrier as everyone spoke extremeIy good english. Then I asked for the manager and name. The one that dumped the soup on me said that she is the owner's daughter. WTF! Never again!

Two caveats: 1) We got take-away; the take-away menu may be different than the sit-down menu (we didn't check), and 2) We didn't try any of the Chinese food, as it seemed to be the standard Americanized-Chinese options. We did try some of the sushi and some of the Vietnamese fare. Take-away sushi can be a dicey prospect; you really don't want it to sit too long. We dug into the bags within 15 minutes of getting them, so freshness was not an issue. The only options on the take-away menu were rolls so we got a couple. The fish was definitely fresh but was kind of bland. I'll give them the possibility that the 15 minute wait took something out of it, but I also suspect that places that specialize more in sushi are likely to have better quality fish. The Vietnamese food was rather disappointing. The fresh springrolls with shrimp had very fresh vegetables but the shrimp was bland. Grilled beef with vermacelli, again, had fresh vegetables, and the beef admittedly had a nice flavor, but overall was a bland dish. Summary: a disappointing experience. It wasn't bad food, it just wasn't interesting enough to warrant a return visit.

I was super excited to have found a place in Belleville that serves sushi...which I assumed would be fresh sushi. It came in a packaging that looks just like the sushi that you can buy in the grocery store! The menu should have indicated that it wasn't made there or that it's store bought. I wouldn't have tipped so well for my carryout, but bonus the miso soup was good.

I'm really surprised at the less-than-stellar reviews. We stop here whenever we are in the Belleville area, and think that the quality of the food has gone way up since they dropped the buffet. I'm a big fan of Vietnamese pho, and it is so good here that I don't order anything else. Similarly, my wife tried the pineapple chicken (always with fresh pineapple) her first visit, and now always orders that. I'll make a point to try something different our next visit, but doubt that we lucked into the only two good dishes they offer.

Being Vietnamese, I know (generally speaking) most people think that all "Asian" food is the same, and usually consists of some kind of Sweet & Sour Chicken or Egg Drop Soup. Having been friends with many uncultured people, this restaurant is great in the fact that it caters to everyone. Having been here quite a bit and overhearing questions asked by other diners ("what is lemon grass? is that some sort of grass?") I definitely appreciate that they serve " Americanized Chinese food. You can order authentic Vietnamese food (that tastes wonderful) and if your friends aren't up to it, they can order Shrimp fried rice...something that they know, because, the truth is, most people don't know what Vietnamese food really is. Sushi is also a great addition to the menu because there aren't any great Sushi places in the area. Overall, this is a great place to go when you aren't decided on what you'd like. The food is fresh, the prices are great and the staff is friendly. Its uncultured eaters that expect "Mango Chicken", that give bad reviews.

The food was quite disappointing. The veggie rice was dry and contained no veggies! Only a few freeze dried carrots and absolutely no egg. A first for me. I asked for light sauce on my sesame chicken yet my plate came drowning in it. The egg roll was okay at best :/

This place is as expensive as it is bad. Rubes will even hate it.

Great pho! Incredible service to introduce me to pho - waitress tip: mix the sirracha with the hoisin sauce and dip the slices of beef.... Yum! Delicious broth, awesome meat, and plentiful toppings

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
