The best grinders I've probably ever had, definitely worth a shot. Haven't tried anything but the grinders yet but I feel that the work that goes into the sandwhiches every things got to be just as good.

Great food, Great people, Great prices... What more could you want! I love the warm welcome I receive as I walk in, the staff knows me by name. Whenever I visit family, I make sure to stop by Rachel's for a delicious bite to eat. I would recommend Rachel's for large parties or just an intimate dinner. Make sure to try the angry orchard Sam Adams!
Service was good. Decor is nice. Food was average. Felt like everyone in the restaurant knew each other which I guess is to be expected in a small town oh god what am I doing in Bad Axe help me please...
We happened upon this restaurant while up visiting friends in the Thumb (their recommendation) and had a great meal! My husband had the chicken enchiladas and they were delicious, though I had eyed them with suspicion when they arrived, as they didn't look like we're used to. My Thai chicken dish was a delightful surprise. We live in So. California so our standard for Mexican AND Thai food is rather high. Needless to say, this did not disappoint us, though the refried beans were not what we had anticipated... out here our beans are light colored and creamy, whereas when we're in the east, they tend to be dark, dry and overcooked... maybe it's just a regional thing. Next time we're back in Michigan we'll be sure to stop by again...

I've gone to this establishment since I was very young. The people are always so welcoming and it's always well kept and clean! The food is fabulous and the service is fast! I always leave there happily full. I have since moved to another state with my husband and we have yet to find a place as good as this one. Every time we come back home we go here with our family for dinner!! I will be a fan and customer as long as they're in business!!! Fantastic all around!!
We were able to get some food to go this last weekend and it was superb. We ordered, almond Chicken, Sesame Chicken, Lo Mein and Crab Rangoons. All the food was hot and tasted fresh. Portions were huge and very satisfying. I dont make it to Bad Axe to often but when I do this is a must have. I will be back!
We must say, there were lots of people here. The staff was friendly, but . . that's where the "good" ended. We did the buffet - which we felt was expensive for the very limited selection offered. There were a couple/few chicken dishes, one seafood dish w/shrimp and one with beef - along with rice and a couple veggie dishes. We were also offered soup, which was just "OK" - and tea, which was standard black tea (not a special jasmine tea or something like that to go along with Chinese dinner. Sorry - we won't be back.

The McDonald's Food & Family Center is a great place to go for groceries, lunch, and catering. The catering is quite good, reasonably priced, and the caterers are very friendly and eager to help. Try their fried chicken if you get a chance.

Peppermill Restaurant

Reviews:
It's a pretty decent restaurant. You don't really have a whole lot to choose from in Bad Axe, but this is kinda your typical family style restaurant. The food is decent but nothing really special. The staff seemed friendly though.
We drove around Bad Axe looking for a place to eat and found the Peppermill, it appeared to be the only sit-down restaurant in town. It was around 1PM, I ordered a hot meatloaf sandwich, and my wife ordered an omelette, since they have all day breakfast. My meatloaf came with mashed potatoes and stuffing. I could taste the dehydrated onions and celery in the stuffing, and it tasted like it came from an instant mix. The gravy was very salty, and also tasted like it was canned or instant. The meatloaf was kind of bland, but at least it was real meatloaf, unlike the stuffing. The mashed potatoes were real though, and were actually very good. Overall, my meal was the definition of mediocre. As for my wife, she works is a cook by trade, so she knows how things work in restaurants. She said the hashbrowns were good, but she took a few bites out of the omelette, and pushed her plate to the side. It was greasy and gross. It was filled with these nasty onions, that my wife said tasted like they had been sitting in artificial butter for 2 days. She couldn't eat it. I tried it too and almost spit it out. The omelette was pretty much inedible. The waitress came up to take our plates. This was the second bad restaurant experience in 3 days in the Thumb, so we didn't say anything about the omelette. The waitress didn't even ask why my wife didn't eat it, which I would think any good server would do. We paid and left, and began our long trip back to Ohio with my wife frustrated and still hungry. I post this negative review not to be a jerk or a food snob, but because 2 out of 3 restaurants we went to in the Thumb were very bad. This is a big tourist area, and these people are sitting on a potential gold mine. If they actually served fresh food with real ingredients, they would rake in the money. As it stands now, I'm bringing my own food next time I go to the Thumb. Also, it's interesting that Yelp chose to "filter" another negative review, because that review looked similar to our experience at this restuarant.
I stop here frequently for breakfast when traveling to the Thumb for business. Good eggs, great toast, quick friendly service. It gets to the point where we don't get menus, because we're there every day for weeks in a row. There's a pretty regular breakfast crowd in here weekdays. I actually look forward to Thumb travel because I can get bacon, eggs, hash browns, and their excellent toast every morning before heading out to the field to play with wind turbines.

We ordered two pizzas to go and they were delicious. Both were the deep dish style and did not disappoint. We had a house full and those two pies feed us all. I was extremely impressed with the freshness of the dough that was used. I am somewhat of a crust snob when it comes to my pies and this bread passed the test with flying colors. We will be back on our next time thru. I cannot comment on the establishment itself as I did not pick up the order but was told that your employee Theresa was very nice and helpful during the pickip.
I really wanted to like this place. Seems friendly, and inviting. The food however really ticked my girlfriend off. She's a vegetarian and ordered the veggie burger. After having 2 bites, she thought it tasted funky. And sure enough, check out the work the "cook" did to this thing. And to top it off, he still thought it was worthy of serving it to her. I should have went back and threw it in his face for thinking it was acceptable to serve.
Last nights dinner at the gathering place was good, but left us wanting s little for service. The restaurant was pretty full yet they only had one waitress on. She was trying her hardest and overall did pretty well, but I'm surprised the management would schedule it so short especially on a night when the Lions were playing. The location inside the restaurant is very nice, however the entry way seemed a bit sparse and rundown. We had the pizza for dinner and it was delicious being an almost deep dish with toppings all the way to the edge. They had a thick crust menu option (we didn't order it) and I wonder how deep that would be. The cheese had dripped over the edges a bit which made a bit of a crispy cheese crust that I absolutely love. The toppings seemed fresh and the flavor was fabulous. Altogether we were happy with dinner and would definitely return. If service is better next time I'd definitely consider a fourth star.
