Great lunch specials at an affordable price. Love the calzones and coney dog specials. Friendly staff.
Mug, small and large pitchers. For CHEAP. This is a perfect example of a great Up North Michigan bar. When we walked in early afternoon, we were the only ones there. Nancy the bartender greeted us. Seriously though, you can't beat $1.50 mugs, $5.50 large pitchers of Bud Light. They also had some good Michigan beers on draft as well. My first mug was a $3.25 Oberon. After that, we drank a couple pitchers. Nancy the bartender was great. Being the only three people in the bar for a while, we spoke with her about the bar's history and how she was born and raised in Au Gres. She said she had worked at the bar for more than eight years. They have specials during baseball games. Half price cans when the Tigers score a run (one per inning). If you go, be sure to tip good as the prices are so low, the bartenders really deserve it for their hospitality at this great little bar.
This is a great little Bed and Breakfast. You'll be staying on the second floor of an old farmhouse that has been redecorated in a classic country motif. The rooms are not perfect, but they are very nice and are exceptional for the price-point. The hosts, Greg and Pam, are also very nice people who have set up this home-based business in their retirement. It's a few miles outside of town, but is less than a 5-minue drive. I would highly recommend this B&B if you are visiting the Au Gres area.
I'm currently sitting in this restaurant wishing I never even walked in this place. You would think that a waitress who works there would know the menu inside out but she seemed very ignorant about it and didn't know what was included in certain meals. The waitress messed up one of the orders twice and there were hairs found in 2 out of the 6 meals that were ordered. The food was not quality at all. The hash browns were cold, the sausage was undercooked, and the bacon was rubbery. I will never eat at this establishment ever again. I would rather eat at McDonalds.
We stopped in for dinner traveling north. Homemade pastie, sounded good. It was filled with ground beef, carrots, onion and rutabaga. The veggies were quite small shreds vs the larger diced pieces I'm used to, but quite tasty. Daughter got chili and liked all the meat and tomatoes in it. Husband got broasted chicken and liked it. All our food was served nice and hot.The dinners came with salad bar. Very nice and attentive waitress .
It's not bad. Delicious breadsticks! We had bud light on special for $1. Amazing patty melt. Really goooood blueberry bread and sweets!
