Solid choice in the restaurant desert that is Waterville. I go back to when the Joseph's building housed other, long-gone restaurants. The current incarnation is really good too. We got broiled scallops, a huge burger, and NY strip steak. Portions were large and the entrees were all delicious. Sides were also large and good. A caprese salad for $6 was a nice surprise -- it was huge and perfect for sharing. Tomatoes could have been a bit better but that's a minor quibble. Service was very good. Atmosphere is casual but you could dress up a bit and not feel weird.

I came here today for a group family dinner. When I walked in I was immediately intrigued because this used to be a beat up Chinese restaurant. It has a beautiful seating area and a separate room that overlooks the golf course with great natural lighting. However, it was so incredibly hot in there opposed to the other room. SO HOT! On to my experience with the food. I ordered the haddock lunch special. It was pretty expensive. I was disappointed as it was dry and lacked flavor. It was not worth the money though. The service was mediocre. It took a very long time to even get past ordering drinks. The service was wildly inconsistent which is troublesome because we were the only ones there for awhile. It's a nice environment, food and service aren't the best. If you are new to Waterville, there are places that surpass Joseph's.

Nice atmosphere, Caesar salad and other starters OK. Steaks not great, this is my second trip here. This place is packed on weekends, I don't know another steakhouse in Waterville, but don't come for steak. Bone-in strip was thin, gristle ridden and overcooked even when ordered rare. Prices reasonable and I'll give them another try.

Nice atmosphere with beautiful bar and multiple televisions. Dining area small but plenty of seating and space between tables. Patio seating as well. I checked the reviews out prior to going to decide what I would have and decided to make sure I tried at least one thing with great comments. Several of us shared the spinach and artichoke dip which was phenomonal. Definitely recommend this dish. One couple ordered the wings and had been told to ask for them to be double dipped which is sauce then fried then dipped in sauce again. They came out and were not double dipped as requested. I ordered the crab stuffed haddock and had my choice of 2 sides and because of reviews I decided to pay extra and get the lobster Mac and cheese. Unfortunately I was very disappointed in my entire meal. The haddock was dry and the crab stuffing was so overpowered by celery I really couldn't taste any crab at all. Just tasted stuffing with lots of big pieces of celery. The lobster Mac and cheese was barely warm and the lobster was super tough almost like it had been frozen. The Mac and cheese was not very cheesy at all so this was really disappointing. One person ordered a steak and said it was overdone. This was my first visit there and everyone else had been before and had good meals so they thought this might just be an "off" night. I never try and judge any place on just one visit so will give them another try when in Maine visiting but for now just 3 stars mainly for appetizers, nice dining area and great service. Food overall mediocre at best. Prices are very reasonable though which is a bonus if the food could come up a notch or two.

Pleasantly surprised by this place as we dropped our daughter off at Colby. We had the 12 oz charbroiled rib-eye (a little thin), and 2 8 oz filets. Also pleased with the side dishes--Caesar salad, green beans (very thin!) with red onions, and out daughter had the lobster mac & cheese.

I went here Tuesday night and ordered the filet mignon topped with crab. The steak was fresh though underseasoned, the crab however was clearly frozen. The service was friendly although somewhat slow. I have come here several times and the service is simply not consistent but the steak always is.

Reservation does not work well. But service and food are very good and price is reasonable. Best steakhouse around Waterville.

Really good burgers. Handmade on a toasted bun and cooked perfectly. The house made chips and fries were great too. Good beer selection and good atmosphere. Worth going out of the way for.

Great food, good service, not to expensive. Can't go wrong. Best place to eat in waterville that I have found. Steak tips were especially good, buffalo wings are also very good.

Service was good. Hot chicken wings crispy and juicy, very good. My steakhouse burger was desperately under-seasoned and the "steak sauce" was pretty flavorless, I think mayonnaise based, nothing like I would normally think of as a steak sauce. But it was cooked well, the bacon and crispy onions good. All in all satisfying, just be prepared to add a lot of salt at the table.

I wanted, after the hype, to give more stars. I'm okay with the wait, since it was Friday at 7pm, but we got seated in an area that was out of view of anything, so it took a long time to place our orders and get our food. My steak was almost raw. I ordered medium rare but the meat wasn't even hot. I don't like to return things. The waitress took ownership for entering it wrong, but still. While the quality of the meat is unquestionable, the cooking of it I found lacking. No matter how good the meat, it still needs to be seasoned. Salt and pepper (standard seasonings for ANYTHING) would have really enhanced and rounded out the flavor of the beef. The garlic mashed potatoes were good. Would I come here again? Probably.

Service was slow. I've only had one bad experience. I think the portions got smaller. Good food and good atmosphere. I usually sit at the bar but.

We had come here a few times when they first opened and I had reached blacklist status for some reason. Well because I could not remember why and was craving a burger, in we came. Well when I looked at the menu it started coming back to me. Too expensive I remembered, then I got my burger it was cooked properly but was so greasy tasting and unseasoned I ate half and had them through the other half away. Now I remember clearly. All done, welcome to the blacklist!

Looking at houses in the Waterville area and tried this place for a late lunch/early supper. The filet was one of the best I've ever eaten. Tender and juicy, cooked medium with a nice char on the outside. Perfect! The beautiful all wood lodge style building still has that new wood smell, which my wife and i enjoyed. The service was very good and the salads and vegetables were fresh and tasty. We're coming back for sure.

We were in Waterville area and we searched for a local place downtown. Found nothing appealing. So we found this listing highlight rated on Yelp. We followed the GPS and found this new building, clean and comfortable on this little 9 hole executive par 3 just outside of town. I golfed here 10+ years back and this is new since then and clearly a local favorite And rightfully so. Good food, Nice service and pleasant all around. My wife liked the bread on her burger and I was very pleased with my chowder. The salad was fresh and a good house dressing.

Food is great..buttt...It's only a three because of the service. Wich was slow and slow and slow. We went for lunch and it took us 20 minutes just to get our apps. I will say that the food is outstanding and I give the food 5 stars.

Excellent service and quality. Steak was cooked to order and not over-seasoned. The pulled pork plate was surprisingly good as well. Kids meals were reasonably-priced and substantial (homemade mac n' cheese was so good, I had to steal some). I'd suggest arriving early or plan to have a drink at the bar while you wait for a table - we were on our way out at @ 6:00 and it looked like quite a wait.

We all ordered beef, and it was all cooked to order and was very good. The prime rib was seasoned very well; basically, just right. Salads were very good, as well as the dressing. Not one complaint about the food at all. The room does echo a lot. It was noisy, but we have been to other places that were worse. It was a little warm inside; it was warm outside, but not too hot. Service was excellent. Prices were reasonable for the quality and portion size. We will return. We thought it was the best steakhouse we have been to in the area. Great experience, and we look forward to returning.

Treat yourself! I've been here multiple times and I'm sold on it. Close to town, but in a rural setting. Lots of parking. Big clean building, but I agree with the person that said that if you get seated in "out of the way" corners, you get forgotten. The staff is sparse and minimally helpful. Steaks out of this world, but everything else just ok. Seating is comfortable and clean.

Recently dined here to celebrate my Gram's 90th birthday, my Gramps 93rd and my Great Aunt's 95th. We were a group of 9 altogether and there was something on the menu for everyone. The service was excellent, the food was great. Everyone was pleased with the food from starters to desserts. Casual and comfortable environment, I would highly recommend Joseph's for a great lunch or dinner in Waterville.

I stopped in tonight while in town on business, been here a few times before. Sat at bar for 15 min being ignored by two servers, looked at me but didn't acknowledge my existence or offer a menu/drink. Gratuity would have been a rough go, so I figured best to walk out. A shame because this place usually serves a good steak.

Very nice steakhouse overlooking a golf course. There's a nominal western theme, though the big stuffed moose head in the dining room reminds you that it's Maine. The dining room is pleasant and a bit rustic. The service was cordial. This place is a real bargain, with very moderate prices for a steakhouse. Cocktails and wine were good and reasonably priced. We shared a very good order of mushrooms stuffed with crabmeat to get started. We saw an enormous order of pulled pork nachos delivered to the next table that I would love to try sometime. Entrees come with 2 side dishes, including salad, so they are all you really need to order. My wife loved her lobster mac and cheese. My daughter really liked her filet stuffed with crabmeat. I had surf and turf- not a dish that I usually order. The filet mignon was pretty good. The beef was good, but didn't taste as if it had been seasoned prior to cooking. The lobster tail was broiled and a bit dry to my taste. We split a single dessert, which we enjoyed. Overall a very nice restaurant and great value for the Kennebec valley.

For Waterville, ME it is the best place to go for Steak and Wine. Post fairly good and a pretty cool lodge setting.

Very good food. The steaks are seasoned and cooked well. I also had the lobster mac and cheese one time and it was AMAZING. Definitely worth trying if you don't feel like steak. I don't think any of the appetizers are special but the entrees are well worth a trip here. Haven't tried any of the desserts yet, but there's always next time!

i have not been here, but my grandparents assure me that it's the best food they've eaten in quite some time. don't tell them, but i plan to get them a gift certificate here for the holidays. i would suggest you do the same for anyone on your shopping list who likes to go out and eat possibly meaty meals!
