The atmosphere was very nice. My Wife and I were seated in the bar as we didn't want to wait for the other section. The reason for the dinner was it was my wife's birthday and I wanted to take her somewhere we haven't been before and I know she likes Italian so it was a win-win. Overall the food was slightly okay at best and the wait was pretty bad, however I really just wanted to enjoy the conversation with my date for the evening so I was okay with it during the moment. The food was hot and wasn't warmed over and late to be served to us. The only bad thing I will say is that for the price it was pretty simple of an entree. I ordered the veal Simbitacco I believe. Pretty much veal in a sweet sauce with prosciutto smothered in cheese. I also ordered it with penne pasta and a house salad. The salad was very tasty, however I was very disappointed in the penne pasta, I was sort of expecting a homemade pasta for the price, not some store bought pasta that was lightly covered in the sauce from the rest of my meal. Overall it was a simple meal. Not to say it wasn't a tasty meal, just not what I was expecting for the price. During our experience the drinks were more than strong enough to keep us talking through the night as each of our drinks were STRONG! I really appreciate the strength of the drinks as for the price I felt I was getting my money's worth per sip. Lastly the dessert was very decadent. They came out to show what they had to offer instead of showing you a description and hoping you'll like it. My wife and shared the raspberry cheesecake (my ultimate weakness!!) from the first bite I was everything but disappointed with my dessert. Full of richness and big enough for me to share and enjoy still. The bill was about what I expected for the evening. I can't complain one bit about the atmosphere and if you are bringing a special someone out for a date or just want to enjoy a nice Italian meal then please stop in, I'm sure they will get faster as they get more business. I hope they next time we are more patient to wait for the actual "dinning" area so that we can get that experience. Pros - warm atmosphere - strong drinks - great food Cons - wait time - price of meals (simple entrees I felt)

Having grown up Italian-American very few italian restaurants can deliver, this one was OK, but.. I ordered shrimp fra d'avlo the shrimp were tuff (overcooked) and a bit old tasting the sauce was really good though. Service was good, not great.

Just had a lovely meal. We were quite pleased with the quality of the food. The service was very attentive. They have several options that can be made gluten free, including a GF penne and they even brought out GF bread. The server was very knowledgable about the ingredients in each dish. A lovely treat in Waterville!!

A diverse menu, excellent desserts, and a creative drink list (see Shannon for specialty martinis) are accentuated with a personable, fun (and competent) staff. Will go again... and again... even if it's just for some tiramisu and/or a Cloud 9.

I tried Amici's Cucina for the first time recently. The food was very good, and the waiter was very friendly and attentive throughout the meal. We especially enjoyed the homemade meatballs, which were recommended by our server. The desserts were also excellent: I recommend the cannoli. Overall, a very nice dining experience. I have two minor critiques: the atmosphere was slightly dampened by the front door being open and we were seated right there, so we had traffic noise and cigarette smoke along with our meal. Prices are high, but portions were generous. I recommend Amici's if you enjoy good Italian food and great service.

Where else can you get authentic Italian food for a good price. Bread and oil and your choice of side salad or soup with your meal. May favorite has to be the ala mariea. Top it of what and Italian margarita or an Italian donkey to wet your whistle

Nice atmosphere, I like the brick walls and paintings. The employees were nice as well. I got lobster macaroni and cheese, and it was very good. I'm sure I'll come back at some point!

Had shrimp diavlo...sauce was very yummy & spicy! Dessert is a must have! Had the cannoli and lemon marscapon cake...still dreaming about it! Bread and olive oil was very tasty to start, house made vinaigrette was soooo good on the house salad. I can't wait to try their cocktails!

Food was really good. The portions were good size. I had a salad and it wasn't fresh. They only had 2 servers and they were way behind. It could have been an off night. The food was worth the extra wait.

Amici's is a a pleasant surprise in downtown Waterville. it's situated in a generic looking storefront. The space is unremarkable. The waitstaff were very nice. They were patient and unflustered despite it being a busy weekend at Colby College. We were served good bread and olive oil upon being seated. The wine list was reasonably priced and good. We shared a bunch of above average appetizers, including grilled sausages, bruschetta and stuffed mushrooms. I had a special dinner entree, which was essentially fettucine alfredo topped with an assortment of seafood. The pasta was a little bit overcooked, but otherwise OK. The veal saltimbocca was very good, as was the chicken Mona Lisa. We were a big group and stayed longer than we were supposed to and therefore didn't get a chance to try dessert. Overall a good restaurant with cheerful service and moderate prices that is a real asset to Waterville.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
