First time for my wife and I.Found it out for a ride.Food is very good in a camp style setting.Nice spot to watch the lobster and fishing boats dock with their bounty.I had the Fried Scallops dinner and was impressed with both the quality and portion size.Came with choice of 2 sides for under $20.00.Wife had Bouliabase which came with lots of seafood and a whole lobster for $25.00. A lot of food for the money! Will definitely be back

Food is delicious! Best fried scallops I've ever had. Even a really good lobster penne dish. Definitely be back anytime we're in the area.

This is a little shack perched near the water at the end of a lane in Scarborough, and it's absolutely worth seeking out. The lobster was great, the onion rings were PERFECT, and the fish and chips classic. So: Lobster: A Onion Rings: A++. My first A++ ever. Classic breading, but there were also actual onions in it (rather than the onions having been waved over the fryer). Fries: A+ Fried haddock: A I forget what else, but we'll go back every time we're in Old Orchard Beach.

Stay away unless you want to get sick Dishwasher, I kid you not, was NOT WEARING a shirt. Blonde haired waiteess, mid-20's was EATING fries OFF a PLATE then served it to a table. I saw both from outside looking in through the kitchen window. Was watching her EAT right OFF the SAME PLATE then bring it to a guy on the deck. Yuk!! I told the manager who went back to talk to her, she was yelling at him. I left and went to OOB to eat. Time to call the health department.

First, cannot beat the location. Beautiful, you can walk right down to the water after you eat. Second, I'm sure if I had the lobster, I would be raving...but I felt let down by the food. The haddock my husband had and my haddock sandwich were delicious and fresh. The fries and onion rings were too heavily battered and not very crispy. Fried pickles were "meh". I ordered a bowl of lobster stew for an appetizer and it had a LOT of lobster meat in it...really huge chunks and so much meat...however, the stew itself had so much butter and oil in it, the broth was basically inedible. By the end of our meal the whole thing had congealed unpleasantly. I would stick to lobster dinner here.

What can I say about this place?! Went there THREE times last week during my vacation for my "lobsta" fix. I am a New England girl now living in Huntington Beach, CA and you just can't get lobster like this. Had the the lobster roll twice. LOVE it because the mayo is on the side & it does not need it. Had the cole slaw & potato salad which were delicious! Had a regular lobster the other time. So yummy AND affordable. Again had the cole slaw & potato salad (couldn't get enough of it). They have Shipyard beer there which is great. The prices are amazing. Hint: get the buffalo shrimp. it's not on the menu. to die for.

We have been going to the Rising Tide for 12+ years while visiting Pine Point. For our kids this is a must do and the vacation would be incomplete with out it! This year the food and ambiance was as good as any. Be forewarned that this is a "funky place" with a casual ambiance..... The lobster penne and the mussels marinara were excellent, lost of lobster in the penne and a generous serving of mussels.. This year they were served with a toasted hoagie bun which we liked as you really want to have lots of bread to mop up both of these dishes. Teens had burgers and fries and according to one of our daughters it is still the best burger that you can get. If you arrive at peak dinner time be prepared to wait but you can get a drink and sit outside and enjoy the fantastic view. It is rare that we ever wait in line for a restaurant but this is one of our exceptions! Great staff, dinner for four with drinks (2 glasses of wine, beer & soda) and tip $75.00. Can't beat it....

We happened upon this hidden treasure while visiting Old Orchard Beach and searching for live lobster. It's right on the docks and has a great harbor side cafe ambiance (don't let the outside put you off, it's part of the charm). We also found a great meal. Altogether, our group had lobster, scallops, clams, haddock and some awesome chowder. Everyone said their seafood was fresh and expertly prepared and we'll definitely be going back again before we go home to Virginia.

Maine seafood the way it should be. Fresh and simple. Affordable and delicious. The soups are wonderful and the lobster was perfectly prepared. Friendly service and beautiful view of the bay.

The stars are earned for lobster and the view, which looks out into the inlet and boats and is gorgeous. We all ordered lobsters or lobsters plus steamers which were all very tasty. Sweet and well steamed! Many groups around us seemed to go with fried sandwiches and I saw a lot of clean plates. The sides were a mixed bag. Nothing fresh or green but very solid effort on the potato salad and coleslaw, if a bit too heavy on the mayo. The French fries were lukewarm, which made me a bit concerned about the food handling. Service is best described as laid back/ unconcerned. Fine, but I observed more than one group got a bit confused about where to sit or where to wait. Very busy on a weekend lunch service but they kept things rolling!

Best price for lobster. We went to several places when we were in Maine for 10 days and this was by far the best lobster and price. The only complaint was the fried clams had heavy breading and cooked to much. This is definitely a local place, nothing fancy but great service and lobster.

My review would be 5 stars but Lydia wasn't here tonight. Lydia we need a Lydia fix before we head south. Where are you? Email me mlippa4@gmal.com BTW, WTF. The restaurant portions on a haddock dinner & a fish sandwich have changed from a decent portion to ridiculously small in size. The comment was " we are cutting back sizes so we can be profitable" VERY Dissapointing. Ten years of eating here comes to an end. How sad

This is a cool little spot to get some fresh seafood. Highly recommend the fried clams, lobster roll and the lobster dinner. Pass on fries, onion rings and clam cakes. Good prices and average service round this out at 3 stars. If you're in the area, Bayley's Lobster Pound is the call.

  • Kris M.

Excellent in every way! I went this passed summer, August 2013 with family and we stayed in OOB. This place was right down the road from our cottage, and we heard great things so we tried it. I ordered the clam cakes with fries and potato salad. BEST clam cakes I had the entire trip. Not to throw any other businesses under the bus, but it knocked Bailey's Lobster Pound out of the water with quality and price. The lobster dinner was fantastic according to my mother and grandfather, and the lobster stew was loaded with huge chunks of fresh lobster meat. The wait is long, and for a reason. GO! Right now!

    (5)
  • Brian L.

A short wait to be seated, but there are docks and beach to explore while you wait. Lobster was good, and the surprise of the night was the ONION RINGS which might have been the best I have ever had!!! Prices were way more reasonable than many of the local gougers. Not a fancy place, but quick, friendly service with good food and reasonable prices brought us back for lunch and more of the same!

Ate there last weekend and was very disappointed. I partially blame myself for ordering a pasta dish at a seafood hole in the wall restaurant. I had the penne with lobster and it was awful. There was very little lobster, tiny pieces that maybe came from one or two claws. The marinara sauce was from a jar and to add insult, I had an upset stomach the rest of the night. Maybe the fried seafood is better but definitely stay away from the pasta/seafood dishes.

  • David S.

This was the best place I ate on this trip. I had the lobster/ steamer dinner. The steamers were big and sweet. The lobster was about 1/12 lbs and was great. Blueberry pie is a must for dessert. The price for the lobster/steamer dinner was $18.99 and besides the 1 1/2 lb lobster there was about the same poundage of clams and 2 sides. The place is behind the fisherman's coop and there is a little pier with some benches at the end.

    (5)
  • Emilykate C.

Lobster penne with fresh veggies- I found 3 cherry tomatoes and 3 slices of yellow pepper in marinara sauce that came from a jar. Very small amount of lobster. The lobster Caesar salad was really small and didn't have any Parmesan on it. Mussels were under cooked and fish was also very raw. The waitress was great but the food was not and we won't be back.

  • Paul S.

Exceedingly fresh seafood in a quintessentially Maine type of place makes Rising Tide one of my favorite stops when I'm Downeast (even though I go Northeast to get there). This place ain't pretty but it serves up some of the tastiest and freshest crustaceans and mollusks around. Don't forget loads of clarified butter, a few bibs and a mound of napkins. If there is a wait, and there usually is, grab a beverage inside and take a stroll on the dock.

  • Sarah L.

Great food, great prices, great views!! The atmosphere is nothing fancy, but this local gem earns all 5 stars for hospitality & amazing food!

    (5)
  • David S.

This is a wonderful place. I can't imagine anyone not liking it! The views are amazing and the atmosphere is wonderful. It is hard to describe how relaxed I felt there as I had my steamers and lobster roll, both of which were delicious. The service was very good. Our waitress was friendly and attentive.

    (5)
  • Jeffrey L.

great food, great service, and nice location.

  • Peter S.

Bouillabaisse was unique, but wonderful. No hard shell clams, only mussels and streamers to complement the local shrimp, fish & lobster. Fried clams & scallops were very good. Waiter was very good, but the veteran, older, pudgy, brunette hostess was a scourge. On the way out, I stopped to use the restroom.young guy exited without washing his hands, then went into the kitchen. As I washed mine I read the sign telling all employees that they had to wash hands. So what do I write? Until the restroom incident I was deciding between a 4 & 5 (mostly on value, freshness, generally food, atmosphere is pure seafood shack). The 3 stars is the result of the restroom incident. Maybe I should ignore it and do the four of five, or maybe I should give it a one star. I split the difference.

Casual but great view. Used to have great wine selection, badger mt, but no more. Anyhow, love the atmosphere. If u want good lobsters CALL AHEAD to the pound and they will reserve 2-3 lb for u. Lobster stew banging. Clam cakes ok, like corn flake crumbs but cannot beat Ken's. However, something very special about this place-or maybe the company I keep!

  • John R.

I drove by the Rising Tide this weekend longing for a nice lobster dinner. So this is actually not a review, as much as it's reminiscing. There is nothing better than a nice large lobster with drawn butter on a warm summer day. The Rising Tide is on the back side of the retail coop. It is an exceptionally nice area where a glass of wine watching the sun go down would be enough. But it's never enough. If you can sit outside and bust open a 3 pounder with a nice bottle of Pinot Grigio then you are living. The mussels are really good too. The chowder is good but it's all about the lobster (to me) So I will wait another month or two and make the summer trip to the best lobster joint/sunset view/slice of heaven in Pine point.

    (4)
  • New F.

Went here last summer. The view is great, but the lobster I had was mediocre at best. The steamers were pretty awesome though. There are better places out there.

  • R E M.

We love this place. It is our summer favorite. The atmosphere is unbeatable, and they always have a fantastic staff. The food is just terrific ... well worth the wait. Grab a glass of wine and watch the lobster boats coem in. It is a Maine tradition.

  • Nate C.

Granted, we went on a Friday night, there was a 45 minute to an hour wait for a table around 7 o clock. Understandable. However, what was not appreciated was the total lack of courtesy by the service staff. I understand it's late, but really, do I have to hear you sigh as you walk away from my table each time? The food was good, wish the service and people were a bit friendlier, really ruined my experience.

  • Denis D.

Went back again with my family. Food was still amazing, although prices went up significantly since last time. Not such a good deal as it used too, it seems. $17.95 for a 1.5lb lobster, $20.95 for a 1lb lobster with 1.5 lb of steamers, $12.90 for a lobster roll. Fair, possibly. Service was outstanding, view was exceptional, we had a good time. Will I go back? Sure, but I won't be dreaming about it at night anymore... I'll consider other options next time I'm up in Maine.

My son asked for a seafood dinner for his 10th birthday, so we thought we'd try a new place -- and we were pleasantly surprised! Rising Tide is exactly what you picture when you think of a New England seafood shack: good prices, fresh and delicious seafood right off the boat, beautiful views. We ate inside because it was low tide and the smell from the dock was unpleasant, but I would love to sit on the little deck next time and watch the boats and the sky. The dining room is small and sparsely decorated, but comfortable, unpretentious, and good for small kids. (Meaning, the place is super-casual and the staff is friendly, and we didn't get dirty looks for having children with us.) The birthday boy and my husband enjoyed their lobster-and-pasta special, my other son gobbled down the seafood chowder in minutes, and I really enjoyed my scallop roll; the scallops were fresh, sweet and cooked just right, with cole slaw and delicious onion rings as sides, and a cold beer. The prices are quite reasonable for a place in the heard of tourist-ville --which tells me they value the locals' business just as much, maybe more. Rarely do all four of us eat out for less than $75...and the food was terrific. We locals will certainly be back! (Bonus: While we waited for our table, the kids played on the beach and dock and found a zillion little hermit crabs and other sea treasures -- certainly a welcome way to pass waiting time, much better than the whining and "how much longer?! I'm so hungry!" that we usually get.)

My husband and I have eaten at the Rising Tide every year since we met nine years ago. The lobster and steamers are the best. We don't even bother going to other restaurants in the area anymore when we visit Scarborough.

I stayed a few nights at Old Orchard Beach, ME, and the couple that runs the B&B where I stayed recommended this restaurant. Boy, am I glad I went there. This was the best seafood I have ever had, and I had to go twice. The restaurant is small, and you may have to wait if you can't get a reservation, but it is worth it. The restaurant is in back of a fishermen's co-op and has a great view of where the Nonesuch River flows into the Atlantic Ocean. Seafood chowder was excellent, and the lobster bisque has whole claws in it. The lobster roll has generous portions and is succulent. The three pounds of steamers I had were excellent. Sides are also great, but a little small. No liquor, but beer and wine are available. Service was attentive and pleasant. If you are staying in Old Orchard Beach on vacation, please go here!

What a great disappointment. Heard so many great things about this restaurant and could not wait to try it, but what a let down. Ordered the steamers and calamari for appetizers; the calamari had the texture of an old eraser and the steamers were ice cold. For dinner I ordered the half and half plate, 18 bucks did not sound bad for the platter, but once it came out i was appalled. Four overcooked scallops, small piece of haddock the size of deck of cards, and frozen onion rings was not worth it's price. Long wait, bad service, and overpriced drinks and food. Will not go back.

  • Bonnie M.

Great fresh seafood at a reasonable price. Most items are fried and we tried the clam strips, haddock, scallops and shrimp. The shrimp took me back to being a kid eating at Red Lobster (I know, blasphemy for Maine but I grew up in Chicago, so forgive me) seafood was always my favorite and I loved the popcorn shrimp back then. It brought back good memories so I fell in love with the shrimp here. The clam strips were a close second (my first time eating clam strips!). We each got a beer and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and food. Will definitely go back if I'm with another seafood lover (hubs hates seafood, gasp!!)

Excellent. One word describes this joint. They had great chicken nuggets and French fries, but the lobster roll was the best my mom ever had. It was sweet, tender, and you can make it your self so it has just the right amount of everything.

  • Josh K.

Nice cozy shack resting on a harbor, food was good. Good selection on kids food. The waitress wouldn't let my dad by a beer while we were waiting 40 minutes. Also the waitress forgot a lemon on my haddock, what seafood place doesn't serve a lemon slice on the side? Overall good fresh food, definitely a must try!

  • Brian M.

The quintessential Maine lobster experience. I'd go back in a heartbeat. Right on the inlet to Scarborough Marsh, there are fine views inside or out. The lobsters are fresh, delicious, and come with tasty sides like cole slaw and onion rings. The seafood chowder rocked as well. Best lobster I had in the Old Orchard Beach area.

Five stars it is. I've given a few lately. I figured that since this was a genuine shack, I'd find some big flaws, thus justifying my overdue 4 star, or possibly lower, rating. This was not to be. Outstanding scallops and Maine shrimp - 1/2 & 1/2 plate w two sides - fries and potato salad. The scallops were sweet and delicious - so fresh. This place is literally attached to the back of the fisherman's co-op. no real sign to identify it, just drive til you see the line of people trying to get their fix. I love Maine shrimp, tiny morsels with a much better breading to shrimp ratio than their prawn cousins. Fries are breaded, not bad but standard fare. Potato salad was cool and basic, but good. Pretty obvious by the way potatoes came apart w the fork that it's house made with some care. Lastly, loved the cocktail sauce, not house made, but good horseradish bite. Served cold in a plastic squirt bottle - as was the ketchup - just the way I like. Waiter Adam was attentive when I needed him, busy as hell running food, taking orders, and just doing a great job when I didn't. Congrats R.T. on your 5 stars - you deserve it.

Hint: get the buffalo shrimp. it's not on the menu. to die for.

GO! Right now!

Went here last summer. The view is great, but the lobster I had was mediocre at best. The steamers were pretty awesome though. There are better places out there.

We love this place. It is our summer favorite. The atmosphere is unbeatable, and they always have a fantastic staff. The food is just terrific ... well worth the wait. Grab a glass of wine and watch the lobster boats coem in. It is a Maine tradition.
