Great food and great service. The owner was very nice and accommodated our request to not include fish sauce and oyster sauce in our dishes and soups to make them plant-based. We got the tom kha hot and sour soup which was delicious and also got a flat fried noodle dish and a vegetable delight dish--both were delicious. Lunch special looked like great deal too!

This is my first official review and I felt like it was necessary after the dining experience I just had here. First off the staff was very friendly. You could tell there were a few regulars that the owner was chummy with which is alway a good sign. To drink I got the Thai iced tea, which I always have to get at a Thai restaurant. I ordered the vegetable soup with clear broth for an appetizer. It was a little bland tasting which was a tad disappointing. For my meal I ordered the pad Thai. That had really good flavor. Overall the meal was pretty good. The thing that was the most off putting but also hilarious was the music playing. When we sat down I kid you not Tupac's "I love you mama" was playing. After that was "Lovers and friends" by Usher, Lil' Jon and Ludacris....the uncensored version. Im not offended by foul language as I have my own set but right next to us was a table with kids. So it just made me feel a tad bit uncomfortable. Overall food pretty good but the terrible music was what justified the 3 star rating.

My friend and I made an unexpected stop here on our way home from Saco. The staff was polite and friendly although I admit to difficulty understanding our waitress. As far as the food it was all pretty good. We started out with spring rolls and vegetable dumplings. Both were great but the dumplings were so oily I wanted to pat some of it off. The pad thai was also oilier than I'm used to, but the flavor was great. My friend got lobster fried rice which she enjoyed, but the lobster head garnish creeped me out. I felt like it was staring at me. The thai iced tea I got to go with my meal was just ok and I lonlve thai iced tea. It tasted bitter instead of the swert I'm used to which was disappointing. All in all I would return if I was in the area again

Lovely little Thai women running this lovely little Thai joint. $10 lunch combo always making me come back for more. Great service, great people, definitely worth stopping by and checking out. I'm the duke for a reason ya heard?

Pad Thai chicken was fantastic. Edamame was delicious. Miso soup stole the show. People extremely kind.

Best Thai food I've had in Southern Maine! I usually stop in with friends from work and today I had the Pad Thai with chicken, which was exceptional. The service was prompt and the waiter was pleasant and timely with refills and other things. The only downside is that the place doesn't look like much, with random wood planks nailed to the wall and odd partitions here and there, but if you overlook these things, Chaba is a really good choice for lunch or dinner.

A delicious and quaint little restaurant. Will DEFINITELY return. The pork dumplings were great and they also have a sushi bar.

Soup smelled really weird and tasted even weirder. Eggrolls were crunchy but soft on the inside. I ordered the pad Thai. I really did not like all the additions in the food. Pad Thai should not have baby corn green beans and all of the kitchen vegetables in it. The pad Thai itself was not bad when it when I sorted out the noodles from the vegetables. It was not the best pad thai I have ever had but it was okay. I won't be coming back.

I ordered sushi to go from Chaba Thai this week. The restaurant has a cute set up with a comfortable couch section to wait while my order was being prepared. There was a counter by the window to sit at or tables in the back. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was quite nice. I ordered three rolls, an Alaska roll, a California roll, and a Thai Chicken roll with a side of spicy mayo. After eating one piece, I knew that I should have stuck with the Thai food options. Their sushi rice was all wrong, tons of it and extremely mushy. I had to open up the rolls and just eat the centers. The texture was that bad. The Thai Chicken roll had a spicy peanut sauce on top that was delicious. After tasting that sauce, I really regretted my sushi choice. I have a feeling that their Thai food may be extremely good. My advice, stay away from the sushi but try the Thai! Their menu is posted online which made for easy ordering! Here is their website. chabathai.com

I was pleasantly surprised by the vibrant interior, quality of ingredients, presentation and overall taste of the food. It was great! The exterior does not match the interior and quality of good. The only con I found was there was good on the floor under a couple of empty tables and we were the only people in there. So they need to do a better job cleaning the floor under the tables.

Surprisingly very good Thai food. I didn't expect much from places in Maine, but this definitely tastes very authentic (just like the ones back home in San Fran). Everything was reasonably priced. Came in here after a recommendation from a car salesman on where to go for a good lunch that didn't consist of fast food. They've got a lunch special about $10. Includes soup, entree, & 2 sides. Pad see ew was hands down one of my favorites. Fried rice specials were just as good. Can't wait to go back! Esp now that they have a groupon! groupon.com/portland-me/…

Sweet Thai place located in a quirky building on Rt 1. Their lunch specials are a good value! You get smaller portions of an entree with 2 sides. I had a red curry, thai salad and spicy soup. Such a great combination and it was all wonderful. It was very empty during our weekday lunch, but service was quick and friendly!

Stay away from the sushi. Absolutely the worst dining experience we've had this year. The staff is WAY overworked and just barely keeping up. We had a reservation which did nothing to hold our table for us and we ended up waiting for 40 minutes just to be seated...once we were there, we ordered 6 sushi items and they were sloppy and carelessly done...probably because our WAITRESS was making them. We could see her take our order then run behind the sushi bar and make each roll. So strange. Still managed to spend about $65, but will never go back. Will be surprised if they're still in business next time I drive by.

I came here because they had a groupon. Preface- if you like Thai food on the sweeter side rather than the spicer side, you'll like this place. I'm a little torn while writing this review. I wanted to give it a 4, but I was disappointed with some things here. Pros- Very fresh produce used. Fresh crisp onions, peppers, scallions, broccoli. They choose/use quality ingredients which I can respect and appreciate. Also, the dishes we had, squid salad, soup, pad thai & drunken noodle were all visually attractive. Vibrant and contrast in colors. We do eat with our eyes before your mouth. So the food was very inviting. Their tom yum soup, though on the sweeter side I loved. And I don't generally like TYS. Their squid salad sauce was SO tasty. If we had white rice, I'd have eaten the sauce and white rice and called it a day Cons- Portions. Now my drunken noodle had maybe 3/4 cup noodles. For $10 there should be more. There was plenty of chicken and veggies with my drunken noodle.. but the name of the dish is "Drunken Noodle" but there were virtually no noodles (I did ask our waitress if that is how they served their dishes here.. and she said yes). When I imagine pad thai, I think a drier noodles. This pad thai was extremely wet/slippery and VERY sweet. The noodles were so wet that it was difficult for a person with expertise in chopsticks to handle. And there was maybe 4 pieces of small chicken, and I saw no egg in the pad thai. I was really disappointed. Overall, though they use good quality products, there is too much inconsistency with their food. Mom's pad thai had TONS OF NOODLES, no chicken. My drunken noodle was PLENTY of veggies & chicken and no noodle.. $10 bucks a plate I expected portions to be better.

Excellent food, very friendly service, and consistently satisfying dining each time we dine there (or get take-out, like we did tonight). Best Thai food north of Boston!

This is the best thai food in maine, seriously. Everything is fresh, properly cooked and spiced, and nice portions. They don't drown you in a ton of food to justify charging more, they give you just the right amount for a reasonable price of 10-15 a head. Very friendly staff and they offer samples to get regulars to try different things. Cozy decor too. I've been to many thai places and you wouldn't expect this quality hidden past the Scarboro marshes, but it's above the rest, including anything in portland or freeport. Worth a drive.
