Yum yum! Love the white bean/spinach/garlic pizza, the ricotta/butternut squash/cranberry is a close second. So many delicious options, the daily specials are always great too. Whether you grab a slice, or dine in for a whole pie, it's great stuff! Their many locations are convenient and consistent! Delivery is a good option to, and the online tool keeps you posted on your order status. It's a bit pricey, but worth the splurge!

The Mashed Potato, Bacon & Scallion pizza is outstanding! I had just flown in from Raleigh and had walked a half mile to a closed lobster shack. Lucky for me, Otto was open. I grabbed a seat at the bar and chatted with my lovely bartender. They have slices available but since I was hungry I chose the small pie and a glass of wine. It was perfection - my taste buds were dancing with happiness. I wasn't able to finish the last 2 pieces, so buying it by the slice (and getting to try a variety of pies) may have been a better option, but I have no regrets. I'll be dreaming of that pizza for nights to come.

Fantastic restaurant that is upscale (for a pizza/bar) and sophisticated without losing the easy deliciousness of pizza. Service is spot on, hipster, casual, cool, and friendly. Great crisp pizza with some good size to it, and a varied menu ranging from classics to vegan friendly and meat-lover as well. They usually have some specials, such as meatballs too which for some reason just solidifies the 5-star rating.

I love this Otto location, there is plenty of seating, is more kid friendly then the other Congress Street location, and the staff is always friendly and fast. In my opinion, Otto makes the best pizza in the Portland area. I have tried many kinds, but the Potato, Bacon Scallion really is my absolute favorite. I generally come here with my husband for a drink and a slice when we are on this side of town. They always have a great draft selection and service is always prompt. This location having more of a sit down vibe, brings many families here which is nice to see, as my kids love pizza. I highly recommend checking out this location and having a slice, or two, or three!

Best pizza hands down in Portland Maine ! Must get the mashed potato pizza. Amazing.

Feeling pretty great about our lunch at Otto. All their flavors rock, and they're quick and as fancy or casual as you'd like. With a little area for picking up slices, there's also a restaurant and bar in the next room for a sit down meal. We picked up pepperoni and the potato bacon pizza, and both were delicious. It's very possibly one of my favorite pizza joints on the east coast.

My friend and I had decided to walk to a different location but GPS failed us, for a second time this trip. So we ended up walking and walking and walking until finally we both said, "The next place that looks like it offers food, we're stopping." And thus, we happened upon Otto. I'm not sure how many locations they have or where they started but I've passed their location in Harvard Sq many times and never been tempted to stop, I will be oh so tempted now. We snagged a tomato salad to start then had a spinach white bean, and roasted garlic pie. The tomato salad was light and whet our appetite. The pie arrive in short order and smelled great. The small was more than enough for the two of us. I broke my "two is good, 3 is gross" rule concerning slices of pizza and finished the last slice. The thin crust was crispy and had just enough salt to be tasty. the whole tomaotoes were really nice instead of sauce. And oh baby the roasted garlic was smooooooth and mellow. No harshing my pizza mellow there. Damn this was a fine thin crust pie. My unsweetened iced tea was great as well. Okay, we'd also walked a mile or more to get there, in hot sun, but hey, the pie was GOOD. The waitress was sweet, saw we'd been to the PMA and made appropriate comments about our art supply purchases we'd both made. She heard we'd walked from the museum and brought us a full pitcher of water, which we finished.

Education comes in strange places. After immediately being pegged as "Not from around here" (I'm sure being the only brown person in a 100 mile radius had nothing to do with it), our delightful waitress Emma educated us on a few things: 1. The best pizza in the US comes from New Haven. I initially scoffed at this, but after some intense googling... whaddaya know, it's true. I've never once thought about making a trip to New Haven, but now... well... I'm still not planning it, but should I end up there, I'll know what to go eat. 2. The path to a beautiful hike devoid of tourists (I will not divulge... if you want to know, go to Otto and ask). 3. The ebb and flow of the July 4th crowds on the 4th of July in Portland. All this, along with some damned fine pizza. Service always makes a big difference, and so thank you Emma and Otto for a lovely 4th of July lunch.

After the restaurant we were waiting at basically neglected us and our plans to catch The Nutcracker ballet, we scrambled to find a place to eat and still not miss the show. Right around the corner was Otto's, so my squeeze and I headed there. Unfortunately for us, the group we were with got confused and went to the Otto's near the West End... We had ordered two large pizzas for our group, thinking we were planning ahead for when the rest of us got here so we could quickly eat and run out. After finding out we were the only ones that would be dining at this Otto's, we panicked about what to do with two large pizzas and the bill. The staff was very friendly and understanding, they took the pepperoni pizza off our hands and used it as one of their 'by the slice option' pizzas. We ended up taking the mushroom and ricotta cheese pizza to go and wolfed it down in the car while trying to find a parking spot so we wouldn't miss the ballet. We really appreciated the staff's understanding after they set a table for all of us even though we didn't end up staying, and for not charging us for one of the pizzas we ordered because of our mix-up with our friends. The pizza we took with us was also amazing! Smooth and creamy ricotta cheese with delicious mushrooms and herbs, it was really a positive spin on a night that turned chaotic. Thank you Ottto's!

A-mazing pizza, especially if you're a vegetarian. Our group of 8 ordered 5 pizzas, and every one of them was delicious. Will definitely get again when we come to Portland next time.

We had the mashed potato, meatloaf and onion pizza, along with the pulled pork with mango, both different and good pies, some of the best crust ever, soft yet crunchy, would eat here again, friendly staff....

Stumbled upon the best pizza I've ever had!! I highly recommend the butternut squash w/ ricotta & cranberries. Good enough to go back the next day for another slice before leaving town : )

I've had pizza from Otto a few times and I'm always semi happy with it. It's good, but not great. We got cheese and pepperoni and the bacon potato scallion pizza. In theory, I should love the bacon potato pizza, in reality, I don't. I've had it a few times and I'm consistently disappointed. It has always been dry and just lacks flavors. I love white pizzas and I love bacon and scallions make just about everything better but the bacon reminds me of bagged bacon pieces and the scallions don't have much flavor. So I will skip it in the future. The pepperoni, though...that's good stuff! Definitely order pepperoni. This past time we ordered with extra cheese (they are light on cheese in general) and it was tremendous. It's a good choice for dinner and we'll certainly order again, but we'll just stick to the good ones.

Yum! What a great pizza place! I was craving some, and Dan and I saw this place while in town looking for lunch. Cozy, priced well, friendly staff. We had the spicy pulled pork pie, it was the perfect amount of meat and spice. There were several other pies I can't wait to go back and try.

Otto deserves 5 stars, 6 or 7 even, because this place has THE BEST PIZZA I'VE EVER EATEN. No joke. This place is the real deal. I've been hearing about this place from my foodie sister and bro-in-law whose opinions on food I highly respect and value, but my thoughts were, c'mon...good pizza is good pizza. Besides, this place cannot be better than my favorite pizza place, a tiny little shop on the shoreline of Connecticut whose passionate young owners train in Italy quite frequently and have written two cookbooks . No way. Way. Sorry, Bufalina but OTTO now takes the title of MY FAVORITE PIZZA IN ALL THE LAND. Holy deliciousness. On a recent visit I tried four different slices: pepperoni, sausage + vidalia onlon, roasted tomato + ricotta + basil, and the mashed potato + bacon + scallion. I'm in looove. Best crust ever. Light and crispy, almost airy but with substance, if that makes any sense. I dream of this. Toppings, ingredients, are top-notch. San Pellegrinos in every flavor (I recommend blood orange or grapefruit) are available to quench your thirst as well as what appears to be homebrewed iced teas and fresh oj. Probably waters too but I wasn't paying attention. I want some OTTO right now.

Amazing pizza, great service, good beers. Have been twice and not let down. Can't go wrong with whatever you order from Caesar salad to pizzas. Laid back environment, good for kids to grown ups :)

Yummy thin crust pizza. Not exactly New York caliber, but pretty dang close. Got the klamata olive, roasted garlic red pepper pizza + sausage, was bangin. Bar tender was really friendly, and they have decent beers on tap. This location seems to be a bit smaller than the other ones, street parking only.

  • Carlos A.

The pizza was excellent. We had: Butternut Squash, Ricotta and Cranberry ($21/$12) The small pizza is definitely big enough for 2 people. I would certainly go back here. Service was friendly and it was nice and warm inside.

We had a delicious dinner here. Fantastic pizza, lots of vegetarian choices! We love that it's not super heavy. The wait staff is very nice, and the ambiance is great. We will be back here again. They lost stars from me for the following reasons: - there were flies in the place that were driving me nuts. a couple of fruit type flies, and one house fly that would not leave us alone. The fruit flies will make their way into your beer and drown. This is not a total deal breaker to me, but it's happened both times I've been here and sat at different ends of the restaurant, and is a problem they could solve. -the beer and drinks are really overpriced. $6 for a pint is something I pay for really nice beer. The local breweries they carry are very good, but not that high end... $4-$4.50 would be far more appropriate. Fountain drinks were also expensive. -I would not order out here. The pizza is fantastic hot, but not that exciting once it cools off.

I grew up between New York and Maine and this pizza is awesome! Thin crispy crust, fresh ingredients. Good cheese! The place is totally cozy, creative, and great staff too. Delicious and fun!

decent slices. fresh pies looked good. lots of interesting toppings. nice vibe and some decent beers on tap. reasonable prices and there were some cheap lunch specials. pizza was on the thin side, but not quite new haven style - not really charred or crackery, i havent had a lot of pizza in portland, so i dont really know what other local options are but this place is on my list of places i would definitely return to. did slices my first time in but next time i am in for a whole pie.

Otto Pizza sticks to what they do best...pizza. So, don't go there hoping to get anything else except for a possible starter salad or dessert for after your pizza. They do have beer and wine to accompany your pizza though. Otto Pizza has a few locations in Portland, Maine, as well some in Massachusetts, and I liked the old charm of the interior at their 225 Congress Street restaurant in Portland. They also offer carryout and delivery, and this location had a small patio out front if you prefer to dine outdoors. Otto Pizza has a lot of interesting pizza creations to offer, but I tried some pretty simple ones to appease my wife: a pepperoni and a margherita. The crust was my favorite part of both pizzas. It was thin, light, and airy with no charring. It also had some saltiness to it that was particularly noticeable on the margherita, and I enjoyed that. Both pizzas were pretty light on cheese, but that worked with the overall thinness of them. The pepperoni was somewhat spicy, and that blended nicely with the sweet sauce. I am comfortable recommending Otto Pizza in Portland, Maine, but I would just encourage others to order more creative pizzas than I did.

Best Pizza I've ever had. The eggplant ricotta and basil is to die for. The Allagash White on tap doesn't hurt either- love this place!

  • Jay N.

These pizzas aren't pretentious but they're somewhat artisan with ingredients I can generally tell are fresh. Lots of variety, the staff is cool and the delivery folks are alway, ALWAYS friendly. But it's the pizza you'll keep going back for again and again. Try something simple like garlic and bacon with tomato: the perfect pie for lunchtime or a Saturday afternoon. It's also worth your time to stop in and take your time enjoying a single slice.

I always LOVE going to Otto in the Boston area, so when my boyfriend and I were heading up to Maine we thought what better of an idea than to stop at their Portland location! A MA ZING. This shop was a sit down-waiter service which I was of course not used to. The waiter we had was so sweet and gave numerous options for pizzas (unfortunately the kitchen was too busy to do a 1/2 and 1/2 pizza). We got a pulled pork pizza and an eggplant ricotta. The only other I've ever tried is the tortellini... I get it every time I go, when something is that good it's hard to stray away!

My husband and I visited Otto's for the first time on our anniversary vacation in Portland. I am gluten free, so this was a big factor in choosing their restaurant, plus it was walking distance from the Residence Inn where we were staying. I really liked my GF margherita pizza, and would absolutely get it again if I go back! My hubby ordered a pepperoni pizza which he also enjoyed. Everything looked clean, the staff was friendly, and we were seating in less than a minute. Great pizza place to visit for anyone in the Portland area!

Otto's pepperoni pizza is my favorite pizza. I'm a traditionalist. I frequent the Hill location because it's comfortable and cozy. They always have a decent offering of five or six craft beers on draught, many of which are local. Additionally, they have a wine list that appears to have been very carefully put together. No booze at Otto...just beer and wine to compliment your pie. The thing that gets me most about Otto is their crust. It's so thin! In crisps right up and tastes almost buttery when bitten into. I like to start eating the crust before I'm finished with all of the sauce and cheese because I dip it like a breadstick into all of the excess toppings. I won't charge you for that tip, but you will thank me later. The menu is creative and offers red and white pie options. They don't allow modifications, but do provide a "build your own" option. You just have to trust that they know what they are doing and that everything will taste great. The thing about Otto is that it looks, tastes, and feels homemade. I know that the marinara is some kind of family secret recipe and in the many, many, many times I've eaten there, nothing has ever been old, stale, or past its prime. Simply put, Otto is the good stuff. The best stuff.

Oh, God, it's good. OH. GOD. IT'S. GOOD. GODDAMN, SON, it's GOOD!!!!!! You want to put mashed potatoes, BACON, and scallions on my pie? What are you, high? Oh, fine, I will try it. Boy am I glad I did. There are very few foods that make me dance. This pie was one of them. I couldn't help but wiggle when I ate it. To be honest, it had me at bacon. I actually had to Google "scallion" because I had a serious brain fart on what it was. It all blended very nicely. Kinda like high fives and stage dives. You are missing out if you don't dry this delicious pie.

We heard about ottos so while on vacation we went for supper. The place was so homey and the staff was great. Not only was the pizza outstanding but the lemon cello cake for dessert was a great finish to our meal. We will definitely go back NANCY V Worcester MA

  • Karen C.

My husband ordered the spicy pulled pork with scallion and herb ($12/19). And I ordered the sausage with onions ($12/19). Both pizzas were delicious . Light thin crisp crust. Was able to eat the pie and not feel stuffed.

It was great that Otto's was open late when we needed food. It was pretty disappointing that they completely forgot about the two slices of vegetarian pizza we ordered, until after the two whole meat pizzas we ordered were baked, delivered and eaten. We had to chase down our waitress and remind her. The margherita was very tasty - crisp thin crust with a good toothiness, good spicing and good cheese. I was fairly surprised that it didn't involve tomato sauce.

Maine pizza at its finest. Intimate, friendly and always delicious. A little loud on the weekends but an otherwise delightful experience. Menu has everything you could possibly want on a pizza and more.

What happened? Seriously what happened to Otto pizza?this was my first experience with this location. I had previously had pizza at the Otto's in Brookline MA and the other location on Congress St in Portland. Both where outstanding, hands down some of the best pizza I have ever had. I ordered a large cheese and a large four cheese pizza. what happened to the thin and chewy crust and the incredible sauce. This pizza was dry and crunchy, the scant amount of sauce was tasteless. What a disappointment. The pizza we had tonight was either made with old ingredients and over cooked or it was a slice pie from lunch that was reheated. The Pizza I have had from Otto's in the past will get them a pass on this, everyone has an off day. I really hope things haven't changed for the worst at Otto Pizza.

  • Kristen H.

Otto has hands-down the best pizza we've found in Portland. Awesome gluten free crust and the regular crust has no grease that gets left in the bottom of the box like most places. My husband has tried the mashed potato specialty pie and the pulled pork specialty and raved about both. I've had the eggplant ricotta on gluten free crust and it was amazing. The only reason I docked them a star is because the last time we ordered, I asked for red sauce and it came with no sauce, which was really disappointing given how much we truly love Otto!

Stopped in on a Friday night with very little wait. Very cool atmosphere. Love the piano backs. For three people, we chose three smalls: Mashed Potato, Bacon and Scallion, Pepperoni, and Apple, Bacon and Red Onion. All are very good, especially their flagship: mashed potato/bacon/scallion. I really enjoyed the tomato sauce on the peperoni pie. They also have Birra Moretti, which I enjoy.

I moved to Portland from New Jersey, which is considered to be the prime location for pizza in the world, and man did Otto's absolutely blow me away! The Kalamata Olive, Red Pepper, Garlic and Asiago pizza is my favorite. The restaurant has a great ambiance, and I like how the take-out is next door for those on the go.

Best pizza ever!!! If you are in the area you need to stop in for pizza. My boyfriend and I stopped in to eat and ended up ordering delivery to our hotel the second night. We had an early morning flight and actually brought the leftovers to the airport (don't judge) it was also amazing cold.

  • Monica L.

Bf and I were starving and freezing, and we didn't want to venture too far from the hotel. This place was AMAZING. We couldn't choose so ended up ordering three different small pizzas and had leftovers. Not complaining! I had a glass of chianti (delicious!) while we waited. Butternut squash, house made ricotta and cranberries - I ordered this, bf scoffed at the idea, then fell in love with it and ate most of it. Ha. Cheese tortellini pizza - bf wanted this. The house red sauce is phenomenal but the tortellini felt out of place on that pizza. We should have just ordered something different (ahem, like I had suggested). Mashed potatoes, bacon and scallions - we both wanted this. This was my fav of the night. The crust was still perfectly crispy and the flavors just jived with me. Yay carb heaven! Overall, inventive and fun pizzas with a great crust and base red sauce. A tad expensive for small pizzas but the sheer genius of the toppings made up for it. Ended up taking a full pizza box with delicious leftovers to the hotel. Yeah, they didn't last very long... Summary: Heck yeah, I'd come back!

how sad, this pizza used to be awesome,,, today my pie was dry (hardly ANY red sauce, as ordered ), the dough was dead... the toppings were sad.... oh my.... what to say...i used to love you guys...

Otto is a truly novel place - it's not often you can find a pizza joint that can't (or won't) produce pizza in the space of an hour. I'm not asking for the world. I just want the one thing Otto supposedly sells... The pizza sounds great based on the reviews I've read. I've just never seen a slice and I've given them over 3 hours of my life at this point. It's very simple - you place an order here, and you wait. And you wait. And you wait. And then the semi-interested staff wanders over and vaguely explains that your order was misplaced, one of your pizzas was burned, etc. And then they leave and you wait. And you wait. And you wait. I've tried this place twice with my family. Each time, we ordered 3 pizzas on the menu with no changes at all, nothing special. And each time the same thing. No pizza an hour later. That's right - one hour, no pizza. Twice. No pizza each time, each time we gave them an hour to produce pizza. Zip. Nada. Best of luck if you try this place. Don't say you weren't warned.

Best pizza I've had possibly ever! Thin crust with very fresh toppings. We got the mushroom, ricotta and herb which was light and delicious! And the bacon, apple and red onion which was equally as delicious. If you want pizza, this is your spot!

  • Trenicia W.

So, I think I'm obsessed :look: When I first got to town the hotel clerk recommended this place because they deliver. The first night I had the apple, bacon, and red onion pizza. After that I couldn't get enough and ordered from them the next two nights. I tried the chicken, spincah, and asiago cheese as well as the butternut squash, ricotta, and cranberry (don't turn your nose up it was amazing). This place uses fresh ingredients, the crust is th perfect thin but not too thin that it tastes like pizza on a cracker. Even if you're not obsessed like me, you should try it at least one time while you're here. Best pizza I have had so far!

On a visit to Portland, we accidentally happened upon this little gem. We were next door at the Snug drinking entirely too much bourbon and kept seeing people walk in with pizza slices. After we left the Snug, the bourbon sugar dive created a hunger. So, we meandered into Otto. Thank god for that drunken decision. The only good one I've made with that much bourbon in my blood. We got the vidalia onion, bacon, mushroom pie. Holy god was it to die for. Drunk anything tastes good, right? Well, I will address that shortly. Bartendress was amazing, we had great conversation with random people at the bar, it was totally laid back (as all of Portland seems to be) and we devoured that delightful goodness. A few days later, we craved it again..this time sober. enough. Wandered in. Same awesome bartendress. Same awesome pizza. I am telling you...the red sauce was not too thick and acidic, the crust was perfect and thin and the toppings were plentiful and worked so well together. Since I am beer stupid (more bourbon and tequila girl), the barkeep and her lovely assistant were so kind to let us try a few different things and had great suggestions without being snooty. They helped pair beer with the pizza and man alive, that shit was on point. We got the small pizza and it was enough for 2 hungry girls. I would super highly most def recommend Otto's Pizza.

I could just *listen* to this crust all day. The way it crackles when bent, the way it crunches when bit, and that's saying nothing about the taste! OTTO has, hands down, some of the best pizza in the world. I'd heard a lot of hype before coming here, and it lived up to all of it. Just stop what you're doing and go to OTTO.

The mushroom, herb, and ricotta pizza was the best pizza I've ever had. The crispy pepperoni on the Otto Italian salad was, as my husband put it, like crack. We are out of towners but will be back once more before we leave. yes, it's that effin' good.

Cute little rustic and cozy place for good NY style thin crust pizza in the heart of Portland. Ingredients were very fresh and tasty. Loved their local beer selection. Would definitely make a visit here again next time in Portland!

The food here was delicious. From a recommendation, we started off with some meatballs, which were amazing. For pizza, we ordered a margarita pizza, sausage mushroom onion, and ricotta mushroom. All wee delicious. The crust was just the right thickness to allow you to taste the cheese and ingredients. Overall, a wonderful experience. We will definitely be coming back!

Met my boyfriend for a quick lunch a few weeks ago. Server seemed a bit scattered but was pleasant. He was really attentive at first but we ended up waiting a while for our food. It was especially frustrating to see tables that arrived after us getting served first. In the end we split the caesar and a small genoa salami, tomato and scallion pie. The caesar was nice and fresh but could use a bit more of a kick and less parmesan. On the other hand, the pizza was quite perfect. The crust had crunch without being too crispy, and the ingredients were well balanced and distributed on each slice. I found myself reaching for more even after I was full, which is always a good sign ;) Overall, the service was spotty (it did seemed like they were a bit short-staffed), but if you're looking for a good slice, I think OTTO is a safe bet!

Came in here a couple of weeks ago for Saturday lunch with the family. It was hot out and we were the only 6 people in the restaurant at noontime. The server was very friendly and patient with questions and uncertainty over what to order. We all got a couple of slices apiece, they were huge and hot with the perfect crust, mostly on the thin side. Good sauce and tasty toppings were abundant, which was a bit of a negative for the mushroom and ricotta which suffered from too much richness. The best thing I can say was that my 7 year-old nephew attacked that slice with unabashed gusto, despite the fact that it was bigger than his head. Overall very good pizza, not badly priced, either.

Another delicious pizza at Otto - white bean with roasted garlic and red sauce. The place was packed on a Saturday night around 8:30 but we were lucky enough to snag a booth. My only complaint - PLEASE BRING BACK THE CAULIFLOWER MUSHROOM pizza!

Otto is easily one of my favorite pizza spots of all time. We've eaten in the restaurant a handful of times (both locations) which was awesome, but we primarily have it delivered. I won't lie, it's the longest pizza delivery ever -- at least 45 minutes, usually closer to an hour or more. But we just make sure to order it in advance, it's that good. Our regular is the margherita, but I am IN LOVE with their cheese tortellini pizza -- do yourself a favor and request double the tortellini. OH MY GAH.

Everyone has a favorite pizza place, but as a previous New Yorker with all the hype that goes along with New York pizzerias, I can hands-down say OTTO takes first place ANYWHERE. The mashed potato pizza in unparalleled, slices are generous, and this summer they have Oxbow Farmhouse (Damariscotta, Maine) unfiltered craft beer on tap. Summer noshing just got better...

I was in Portland this past week with my son for a few days. Otto's was on my list of possibilities. So many places to eat,so little time!! I didn't think we were going to get there, but on our last day, my son and I were walking to Portland Observatory which was a bit of a hike from our hotel on a warm day (that shuttle bus driver was always around when we didn't want him, but was he there when we wanted him?..NOOOO) and my son started bitching and whining he was hungry and thirsty (it had been a whole 90 minutes since he last ate.....teenagers!) when we happened upon another location of Otto's. I took this as a sign it was meant to be! I had plans to eat a Central Provisions later on in the day, so we only got 2 slices to share. We chose the mashed potato, bacon and scallion, and the sausage and vidalia onion. We are from NY, where there is no short supply of great pizza, so I was actually very impressed with Otto's....the crust in particular. It was thin, light and crispy. The toppings were delicious too. I would love to come back on a future trip and order a pie.

Delish pizza. Forgot a salad and slow service. Also no Parmesan cheese. Yeah, it's one of THOSE places.

We recently visited Portland and were looking for a good slice of pizza. We got more than we bargained for at OTTO! The bartender that took care of us was great, very attentive and super friendly. we order 3 small pizza to get a feel for what the place had to offer with hopes of having some left overs. Well let me tell you the dough was so fresh and crispy on all 3 pizzas and the toppings were so good that we left with 2 small slices of leftovers! If i had to give one recommendation I'd have to say we liked the pulled pork and mango pizza the best!

Went for dinner while visiting Portland this weekend. Menu is limited to salads and pizza. Ordered a couple small and one large pies. Fed 5 of us with none to spare. Pizzas are thin crust, not thick like NY. Red sauce made the pie. We were a bit taken back when we asked for some extra red sauce for dipping and were told by the server that they could not do that. Against policy. Not very good customer service.

Otto pizza is the best, especially the eggplant, ricotta, and basil. As an aside, if leaving a cash tip and paying by credit card: be sure to put a line through the "tip" space on the receipt, and re-write the subtotal in the "total" space. just sayin'. OH, and if you're paying cash - count your change. Have had a few "issues" at the east end location.....

Delicious, fresh, crunchy. Some of the best pizza we've tried. Very reasonable prices, friendly and fast service. We had the Ricotta & Basil - lots more basil than expected, but delicious ricotta balanced it perfectly.

I've never been a Pizza girl - until Otto's! Just love that little, casual place. I prefer the restaurant on Munjoy Hill and usually go at "odd hours" to avoid crowds. In my opinion they make a wonderful pizza crust and add great, fresh toppings. I always choose my own set of toppings. (my staple: spinach, olives, mushroom). When it's 2 of us, we order salad and share 1 large Pizza. (always have a slice or 2 left over) They serve beer and wine. If you want a drink before, next-door is Snug, an Irish bar.

For flatbread pizza, this is pretty good. Don't get a plain pie, waste of time and money. Don't go anytime you think families with small kids will be there, unless you don't care, or are a family with kids. Packed Fri. & Sat. night. A good choice is actually off hours at the bar. Good spot to start an early night. Usually good mix of local folks, good beer selection, and bartenders are nice. Kinda pricey for pizza any way you slice it. A grandmother or parent from out of town might scoff at the price, beware. Two twelve incher's will feed two guys and two girls. Yeah I said it. Nicely done decor. PS - there are a bunch of these around so is growing into a chain and they are making money hand over fist, so if you don't care that much about getting pizza somewhere else, and wanna give local, head on out.

Get pulled pork and mashed potato. It's sick gnarly. You'll never want anything else. Pulled pork and mashed potato is literally orgasmic. Also the waiting staff is really good and the place has a cool feel. But no joke. Pulled pork and mashed potato. Pulled pork and mashed potato.

This is a review for the new Otto's location up on the hill, where North Star Music Cafe used to be. The biggest distinction between this place and the downtown spot is the ability to sit with table service, which is very exciting. The interior is suberbly well done, with a row of booths made from old pianos (you sit astride the old piano innards, and it looks very cool). The service, however, could use a little work. When we came in with a group of five, I asked (just out of curiosity) if they take reservations, and the hostess said "not really." There were several big tables open but she said they had been reserved for other groups (really?) so we waited at the bar. At the bar, we were totally ignored by the 4 people behind the bar, even though we were all quietly staring at them and waiting patiently to be acknowledged. It's not a huge bar, so it was a bit strange. Then when we finally got to order some drinks, only two people in our crew got to order them and the rest of us remained ignored. Luckily, just as I was about to say something, our table was ready--and it was one of the previously "reserved" ones. Not sure what happened there. Luckily, our waitress made all the unpleasantness go away. She was very friendly and enagaging and made us feel comfortable and welcomed, unlike the bar staff. Good save. I was a little bummed that there was no wine list to look at, but our waitress had it memorized and I was able to pick from her verbal list. Again, good save. We had 5 different pizzas and they were all to die for, as usual. My head was spinning with the deliciousness, but with Otto's that always happens. In conclusion, I think that once they get a few service-related kinks worked out, this new arm of Otto is going to be a go-to spot for me and my friends and family. I just hope it's sooner than later because I could go there literally every single weekend.

If you love a thin crust, like I do, you'll be happy here. We have been a few times now, and it is always a solid B. Despite the rave reviews about the potato and bacon pizza, I don't get the appeal. It tastes exactly like it sounds...smashed potatoes instead of sauce with bacon pieces on top. It's on the dry side and it needs a vegetable or a sauce. The pulled pork and mango is quite good, yet also dry which is a common thread among the white pizzas. While the pork is super tasty, it's clumped into sparse piles so that only maybe every 4th bite includes pork, and the mango pieces are few and hard to find. The waitstaff can be a bit snotty, and the place gets Very Loud. All that said, I think it's just this side of better than most other pizza joints in Portland.

We got the 12" sausage and onion pizza. Tasty. The crust was crispy, but it didn't have any chewy parts like some pizzas in NY. The sausage, sauce, and cheese were all tasty.

I just don't understand all the hubub for overpriced pizza? Its pizza?! Flatbread, Pats, Brunos, Espos and PHOP are all acceptable substitutes and if I am having people over to watch sports, we're shelling out for Pizza Joint...... not this. The mash potato pizza was fun for about three bites, yeah i said it.

I appreciate the quality toppings but am not sure what all the fuss is about, other than the extreme flavor combos they offer. I'd heard so many good things about Otto's that I couldn't wait to give 'em a try. Turns out they're good - but I must admit the pizza didn't knock my socks off. Good but I wouldn't go out of my way for it - but then again, I only ordered the basics - sausage and onion, etc. Again, not bad. But not crazy great either.

A friend recommended Otto's since it recently opened up in Cambridge and ironically I made it to one of the Otto's up in Portland before the one in my own city. After trying some pizza from this place, I will definitely be hitting up the one in Harvard Square. It was just starting to get busy when we walked in so we wandered over to the bar area and grabbed a drink while we waited for a table. Living in Boston, I found the beer prices to be good - $4 a pint and a small, but good selection. They also have several options for wine. We ended up getting 2 small pizzas to share (3 hungry people). We tried the special, pot roast, and the butternut squash. Both pizzas were good. I found the pot roast pizza a little salty, but the butternut squash pizza was delicious. I loved the presentation of the pizzas - they were so nicely put together and not very messy. Such a pretty pizza!. I appreciate some artistry when it comes to pizza making.

Olio and Mozza aside, this is the best pizza that I've ever had. They spend three days prepping the dough so that it is crunchy but not dry. That might sound insignificant but you'll appreciate the effort the moment you bite. The mashed potato, spicy pulled pork and three cheese were our favorites.

Try the mashed potato bacon and scallion slice - house special and you will not be disappointed. They have 2 locations in Portland Maine that are fairly convenient. Whether you just want to duck in for a slice or chill and have a slice and a beer this place is super. My son and I were here this week and we both loved it. I even convinced him to try the mashed potato and bacon scallion pizza. They have some very creative pizzas here with a very thin crust. It's kind of new york style but far more creative. The also just got Allagash White on tap which is one of the areas best local beers and is very easy with dinner. So if you are in Portland and you love good pizza check this place out!

I heart you Otto's Pizza and I am so so excited to hear you are opening another storefront in Brookline! The pizza is so good, the toppings creative, and the beer tasty. Who knew potatoes on pizza would be so good? Yay!

Think Brooklyn - old style atmosphere, good Italian wine served in water glasses, and tasty, creative pizza pies. That's Otto's. Expect the pizza to be on the crispy side and the wait staff to be casual but not inattentive. If you arrive without pre-conceived expectations, you will be pleasantly surprised. My only suggestion would be to forget the paper plates. This pizza deserves better. Not to be missed.

Pizza is so good, it warrants my first yelp review! Great thin crust, creative toppings (but not too crazy), and cool atmosphere. Worth a stop for a slice!

This is the best pizza I've ever had. So far, no one I've brought has disagreed with me, even those who have toured Italy extensively. The four cheese is great, as is the one that essentially sounds like it's built using potato skin ingredients. My favorite is the cheese tortelini--nothing like two meals in one! The beer list is also pretty good and I love the setting. The restaurant is small, however, so plan what time you visit accordingly.

Pizza is really good but service marginal. Watch your bill bc sometimes (more than once) we've been over charged for drinks. Also waitress didn't check in to ask if food was good after a few bites. Our eggplant was undercooked and we would have liked to throw the pizza in oven again for min or something but just ate it anyways b/c she never came back to the table until our beers were gone (hmmm curious timing) to ask if we wanted more and ask about dessert. Also annoying that they can't do half pizza toppings so you all have to agree on one kind-again seems like a way to up the bill. C'mon how hard is it to do halves if it improves your customers' experience?

Get the bacon, vidalia onion, mushroom pizza. You will not regret it. The sauce is so fresh and you can buy by the slice. Delicious, delicious pizza. What more could you want!

Friendly, and nice unusual flavors available by the slice so that you can drop by for a quick lunch and get something out of the ordinary. I had the spinach ricotta, and it was tasty.

The best pizza in Portland, hands down. Fun atmosphere for a casual dinner. Usually very busy, but they handle it well.

There is so much potential here, but so many off-putting elements that you're better off avoiding Otto's. The staff so avoids confronting the parents of the many children present that the place resembles a madhouse during daytime hours. Even potentially dangerous misbehavior (running around with sharp edges everywhere or standing on furniture and screaming) gets not a word--for either the feelings of adults trying to eat in peace or out of concern for the liability issues involving the establishment itself. The lack of carpet (not a bad thing in itself) ensures that your ears will bleed after enduring the screams and yells of tots whose parents feel no obligation to quiet their offspring. Great pizza, but not good enough under these conditions.

Before today, my favorite pizza was in Staten Island, NY. Now, I have a new favorite pizzeria and it's significantly closer! Otto's thin crust pizza is fantastic! I highly recommend this place. Besides the best pizza (in my opinion), the atmosphere is very friendly and comfortable. A generously large slice of pizza is only $3.

I was soooo happy when I learned there was another Otto's on the hill, as parking can definitely be a hassle at the in town location. Otto's is one of my go-to places, whether it's to sit down for a warm pie or take a few slices to go. The staff is always nice, and although the place is usually busy, the pies are served up really quickly (even on a Friday night)! When ordering a pie, I tend to get the sausage and vidalia onion. Note: you can order some of the pies with red sauce or white sauce. When I go for a slice, I tend to order a plain cheese or a margarita. If the booths are all filled, definitely sit at the bar if you can- you can order slices, drink a glass of house red, and chat with the friendly waitstaff. Rock on, Otto's!

Went to Otto after hearing about it for months... My husband wanted to try it by the slice to sample the variety. Our first slices took one half hour to be reheated and brought to us. The bottom of mine was completely burnt and when I show our waiter, he said "Well if you want one less done I can bring you another one. I had to order another slice in the meantime because they had to make a completely new pizza...my eggplant pizza finally came and I could not even see the eggplant! While still eating a waitress came to our table and wanted to take our water bottle to another table because they were low on bottles!! My advice is not to expect good service and maybe you will at least enjoy the thin crust!

Maybe I caught them on a bad night. Poor service, lackluster pizza. I so wanted this to match up with Yelp reviews. I have had better pizza and six or seven more places in town. Sorry, Otto. Time to put the hammer down on your people who are riding the wave of fame. Very disappointing.

Yum. Pizza of the day was sausage with polenta. Not heavy at all. Excellent, crisp crust. Sat at bar excellent service and good value 2 beers, a glass of wine, large pizza was $34 plus tip . One disappointment -paper plates!

Pizza's good, service is terrible. The guy serving up the slices and taking orders was totally rude- he didn't greet us, then acted as if we were troubling him by asking what they had for slices. We went next door to eat, where I ordered a water with lemon; the girl behind the bar told me, "I don't have one cut up right now, so it'll be plain water." Really? You can't slice a lemon? This girl's doing nothing but handing out slices and getting drinks, and she's can't slice a lemon? Eesh. She must not work for tips alone! Then, I noticed the girl making the pizza next door (you can see right in there) is doing so with no gloves on and her long hair hanging over the dough and cheese- no net, no hairtie, not pulled back in any manner- just dangling over the food. I asked the waitress if health codes required one to wear gloves while preparing food. She looked at me like I had 8 heads, said, "No," as if it were an insane question, and promptly went back to talk shit to the girl.... HELLOOOOO- we can see you, lol. Needless to say, we left a $2 tip on $25, and we will not be back. Gross, rude, ugly people, who obviously have no idea how important treating one's customers is.
