My fiance and I were looking for a good brunch spot on a Sunday morning and we were not about to wait 45minutes to get into Bintliffs. Enter BiBo Madd Apple. When we arrived there were numerous empty tables and several groups in front of us. A group of 6 and a group of 4 were turned away because they did not have a reservation....mind boggling to me since there were literally only 2 tables with customers. Thankfully we were seated without much of a problem. There were several more groups that were turned away while we were there, but there were plenty of open tables. I just didn't get it. Onto the food. We started with the Pastry basket and it was yummy! Nutella, banana, and coconut sticky rolls were the treat of the day and were very good! We split a roll and brought the rest home for a snack for later. I ordered a sausage and goat cheese omelette and for my fiance the salmon eggs Benedict. My omelette was good, but the eggs benedict were perfection. A very generous portion of salmon went perfect with the creamy hollandaise. Overall a very good brunch, but they lose a star because they turned so many people away who didn't have a reservation. A word to the wise, reservations are key here!

Stopped in for breakfast after a blizzard a few weeks back and was not disappointed. Longer wait due to a limited number of places being open, but well worth it. We had french toast and eggs Benedict which were both well put together, fresh offerings. What is all the fuss about? Why the high ratings? One of our only opportunities to eat out for lunch in Portland and this place didn't live up to its yelp hype. We made a reservation because we were warned by other yelpers, only to arrive on a Thursday at lunch time to find the place near empty. The waiter tried to place us in a dark empty room closer to the kitchen, but when we asked is we could sit in the brighter room in the front, he obliged but didn't seem to happy about it. The place was nearly empty and for most of the time we were there only with one other twosome. Maybe he wanted to shorten his steps to the kitchen. The food was fine, but not amazing. But really impacted this rating was that the food took over 25 minutes to arrive and it was a glorified grilled cheese and salad. With the place nearly empty, we couldn't imagine what took so long. I don't know if I would say that the waiter had 'attitude' but he sure didn't seem to be interested in providing us with a good dining experience. It was quite a disappointing dining experience.

Sunday brunch and we wanted to try someplace different so we ran to Yelp and found reviews for Madd Apple. Why not??? There was no crowd, thought it was a little difficult to find, but worth it. Shrimp Benedict with a delicious Hollindase on top was a wonderful choise. And the eggs were cooked just right. Also lightly cooked mixture of potatoes and sweet potatoes also were perfect......... I think we found a new favorite Sunday brunch place!!!!!

Great service, everything was home made with an awesome changing menu. For years (yes, YEARS) I was under the misconception that Bibo's was overpriced and unfriendly. I had a few bad pick-up experiences that led me to feel unwelcome and generally unsatisfied with my experience here, and so I didn't go back. On a recent particularly cold and windy day, Bibo's came up in a search for nearby breakfast spots. After checking out some photos of what they had to offer, and deciding that the two-block walk was about as far as we wanted to travel in the blustery weather, I decided to give Bibo's another shot. And by this I mean that, after looking at Yelp photos, I decided that their food looked so good that my mind was made up and there was no changing it. When we walked in shortly after their opening time of 10AM there was only one other table seated, and we were greeted and then promptly asked if we had a reservation. I got a brief feeling of dread that we'd be scolded for not calling ahead, despite the empty room, but we actually got a cheerful "No problem!" and were seated right away. In hindsight, we should have asked to be seated in the interior room, as our seat by the window was chilly - something to keep in mind if you're visiting in the winter. Our waitress was friendly, patient with my terrible decision making skills, and delivered our food promptly. We started with Apple Fritters ($5.95) and they were absolutely the highlight of my meal. Huge slices of apple slathered in fried dough-like batter, topped with cinnamon sugar and maple syrup, and delightfully crispy with a warm apple center. I would return here solely for a plate (or two) of these. We choose two different Eggs Benedict dishes: Smoked Salmon ($8.95) and Lobster Crab Cake ($12.95). The crab cake was lacking in lobster, but still pretty tasty. Salmon was perfectly smokey and salty. Hash browns were deliciously spiced and perfect when drenched in what seemed to be house-made hot sauce. Bloody Mary's are reasonably priced ($4.95) and bubbly breakfast drinks are a little more expensive. Prices were, overall, reasonable for brunch. I'd like to try out dinner, although it seems like some of their items are on the pricier side for the somewhat casual, whimsical environment of the place. Give it a shot, you might be pleasantly surprised.

You want a great deal on a delicious, huge breakfast, Bibo's is the place! I had a wonderful breakfast at Bibo's this past Sunday. I ordered the omelet, a side of bacon and a Bloody Mary, which was only $4.75. I'm pretty sure there are places you can't even order a beer for $4.75. My bill, with a 20% tip, was around $15. The food was fresh, the portions were huge. We apologized for not finishing all of our food. The waitress said that people rarely consume everything. The atmosphere was pleasant. Not too noisy. The temperature was a little cold, and left me wishing I had brought a sweater. Definitely a good place to hit up if you are looking for a nice, reasonably price Portland breakfast/brunch.

We stopped by while on a long memorial day weekend for brunch and so glad we did. I ordered a bloody marry to start off and it was very delicious... A few moments later our pastry basket came out with our strawberry rubarb muffins with fresh butter and jam. I took one look and I couldnt believe how huge and delicious they looked! That didn't even compare to the taste though... These were some of the best muffins I've ever had... I could have just ended with those but I also ordered the lobster crabcake eggs benedict. My plate came out and it was piled on with 2 gigantic lobster crabcakes and a heap of spicy potatoes! Every last bite was savory and delicious like the last... And I even managed to get a bite in of my fiancès bowl of home made yogurt with fresh barries. Needless to say we left stuffed and with a great taste in your mouths. We will absolutely be back for brunch when we head back up to one of our favorite new england cities!

My wife and I were in town from Chicago for the Maine marathon and waited too long booking our pre-race dinner to score a reasonable time at an Italian venue (traditional choice for a pre-race meal). After scouring OpenTable for restaurants that had availability and appeared to have a nice, interesting menu that would work as a pre-race meal (i.e. not comprised of largely overly rich or fried foods), Bibo's seemed to be the best available choice. Bibo's has a small space but a pleasant ambiance with very funky, artsy decor (fitting since it is located in Portland's art district and next door to a theater). Tables are adequately spaced so that despite the small interior there is plenty of personal space and an upscale and intimate atmosphere. We arrived soon after opening on a Saturday evening but by the time we left all but a couple of two-tops were filled. Bibo's menu is rather eclectic - for example as appetizers you can choose from bar type food (chips and dip), Mediterranean food (sesame chickpea fritters), Asian food (Vietnamese spring rolls), local food (Maine crab cakes) and more. The entrees are a bit more focused (with a seafood emphasis featuring American cuisine with some Mediterranean influence). Prior to our appetizers we were served some garlic bread with a cool, funky presentation inside a flower pot. It is accompanied by dukka (an Egyptian condiment consisting of crushed nuts, herbs and spices). The bread and dukka was tasty but we were a bit surprised it was served room temperature (my wife and I both had expected it to be hot). Our appetizers and entrees overall were quite good. As my appetizer I opted for the Vietnamese spring rolls that were filled with veggies and some pork belly and accompanied by a spicy peanut sauce. These were excellent. My father ordered the Satanic Eggs (deviled eggs with a filling-of-the-day which on this occasion was a curry based filling). He was extremely pleased with his appetizer. My wife went with the chips and dip; while the French onion dip was excellent some of the chips were soggy and there was not enough dip for the amount of chips. My father and I both had fish for our entrees (haddock and salmon respectfully) and both were great; the fish tasted fresh, was cooked well and I loved the marinade on the salmon (tamari lime). The zucchini noodles (spaghetti like appearance and consistency) served atop the fish were fun and tasty as well and the jasmine rice soaked up the sauce from the fish and was delicious. My wife had the slow roasted chicken with pesto tossed angel hair pasta and arugula salad. Her dish was fair with the main negative being that some portions of the chicken were dry. The only real negative of the night was the desserts. My father ordered the chocolate pot de creme and it looked and tasted nothing like pot de creme - it was more like a dense, disc shaped flourless chocolate cake on top of a plate with no mousse like consistency; there were some blobs of sauce off to the side. Perhaps they were attempting a deconstructed pot de creme, this may have been the case as the venue is a tad eccentric (just look at how they spell "mad" in the name of the restaurant ) but if so this should have been explained when the course was ordered or at least when it was presented. If it was a deconstruction it did not work; while my father found it edible, it was not particularly good. I wanted something light (since I had the race the next morning) and ordered gelato. They had interesting flavors (it was a duo with a blueberry/lemon and a mead) but the quality and consistency was poor. Not a lot of flavor and it was way over frozen with lots of ice crystals. My wife did not find any of the desserts appealing and took a pass. I am not sure if this was an off night for desserts or if this is just not their forte. Aside from the poor desserts the rest of the meal was overall quite good and we enjoyed the ambiance; service was fairly friendly and attentive as well. Pricing is reasonable (appetizers run $5 to $11 and entrees $17 to $20) and portion sizes fairly generous. There appeared to be a rather nice (and also reasonably priced) wine list, but we had to take a pass (with my wife and I having the race the next morning; my father did opt for a glass of wine and was pleased with the one our server recommended). As I looked at Bibo's website they also have a nice brunch menu and periodically hold some wine dinners; if I lived in the area I definitely would come in for brunch and book a wine dinner. Bibo's is worth checking out; definitely make reservations as it is such a small venue.

The sign on the bench outside quotes Dave Barry: "A person who is nice to you but rude to the waiter is not a nice person." A restaurant that lets a line form for thirty minutes and then when they open announces that they're booked for hours can't be that good of a restaurant. The staff could see us through the huge windows; there really was no excuse.

We have been to this place about 6 times over the last couple years and have experienced consistently rude staff, ontop of that they make you feel very unwelcomed. Don't even dare "walk in" to this place without a reservation- we were scoled and turned away the last two times we tried to go. Finally, my husband said he's had enough and we will not be going there again. There are way too many tasty restaurants in this town to settle for bad service and rude waitstaff.

We showed up in a group of 8 at Bibo's at 11 on a Sunday and were more than pleased when we left - we were raving and groaning about how much delicious food we ate! Friendly waitstaff, yummy bloody mary's, and food that truly hit the spot. If Dukka is on the menu, GET IT! We all enjoyed the vegetable hash, frittatas, seared scallop special, and fresh muffin basket. This place is a hidden gem in Portland - make a point to go the next time you're in town!

In a sea of donuts, cronuts, and lobster eggs benedict (ran out of rhymes), APPLE FRITTERS sounded like a refreshing new start! I originally stopped by Bibo's with Steff D. a couple months ago, only to realize that they only serve this delightful treat during Sunday brunch! :( I happened to be up early on a recent Sunday, so a few friends and I went to try again. If you had any questions about the size of the dish, it's the size of a large apple. How simple, right?? They slice up an apple, coat it in some delicious coating, and fry the um... life out of it. Don't worry, it still retains a wonderful crunch! It's typically served like a shared appetizer, but I wasn't too hungry so I didn't order anything else. It was plenty tasty and filling for my tiny breakfast-time stomach, and I also enjoyed a bottle of their home-brewed ginger soda. If I were more hungry... I would've liked to try their satanic eggs! It looked like a fun play on deviled eggs, and their fillings change. The menu was adorable with the daily (I think) specials which consisted of the different egg fillings and specialty waffles, among other things. Unfortunately they ran out of the eggs the morning I was there. :( The interior is definitely quirky! There is a wall with windows that separates the front from the back, and it's definitely a cute place for a small private meal.

Enjoyed a lovely brunch here this morning. Started with the muffins- cinnamon raisin. They were so good and paired with the butter and jam that accompany them- they were fantastic! I ordered a Bloody Mary. Nice mix and tasty olive! My boyfriend ordered The Bee-Mosa (orange juice, mead, prosecco). I didn't like that one as much because I felt the mead overpowered the taste of the drink. He liked it though! We ordered the two specials for brunch. His was a skillet with home fries, eggs, bacon, and lots of cheese. It came with homemade toast and some more of the lovely jam and butter! I ordered scallop and bacon eggs benedict. Dare I say this was the best eggs benedict that I've ever had! The hollandaise was light, the home fries were savory, the scallops were cooked to perfection, the eggs burst to reveal beautiful runny yolks, and all of this was sitting atop homemade English muffins! The English muffins were dense but chewy. They were unbelievable. I didn't care for the bacon because it was too crisp for my liking. But I barely noticed because I was too busy with the rest of this dish! I can't believe this was our first time here but we will absolutely be back!

We arrived here probably around 12pm this past Sunday for brunch, any later and we would have ended up waiting for quite a while, this place filled up quick! A cute cafe with a funky slightly granola feel, but sunny and comfortable. Pros: $5 bloody mary's. You heard me. Actually they're $4.95. So good! Just the right amount of spice and zest. A pastry basket for $4. You get two moist and fluffy blueberry muffins and a homemade biscuit paired with butter, jam, and a lemon curd. Also, delicious and only $4. Cons: I was really bummed out about my smoked salmon benedict and the squeeze's lobster crabcake benedict. The smoke salmon tasted exactly like the smoked salmon trimmings that you can buy at Hannaford for $1.95, kinda greasy and fatty. There wasn't enough hollandaise sauce to cover the benedict, and as delicious as their homemade english muffins were, my meal was sooo dry as a result. Obviously the lobster crabcakes are probably made the night prior and refrigerated/frozen, but the squeeze said they tasted frozen. Again, not a lot of hollandaise sauce so his meal was also dry. Not worth the $13 he said. We'd go back for the bargain prices, but would definitely get something else for brunch.

Summary: Satanic Eggs are deviled eggs with flavored fillings that you must eat; given that I know of no other place selling Satanic Eggs in a super comfy setting, I encourage you to eat Satanic Eggs (and other stuff) at Bibo's. My 9yo and I ate brunch here last weekend after a quick visit to the art museum. This is a super cute place with a very comfortable, cozy layout. It was the day after Spock's death, and they'd cleverly created Spock-related dish names. The bleu cheese and bacon Satanic Eggs were absolutely phenomenal...and my Vulcan Nerve Pinch sandwich (egg, pulled pork, avocado, black beans) was dope as hell. No AmEx is annoying - but understandable, especially for a smaller place like this one. Will return, regardless.

Bibo's Madd Apple Cafe is easily my favorite brunch spot in Portland, and quite possibly my favorite in all of New England. Let me count the reasons why: 1) The food - Inspired, delicious, and ever-changing. Finding out what's included in the rotating pastry basket is almost as exciting as reaching into your stocking at Christmas. And the eggs Benedict is among the best I've had anywhere. 2) The service - Casual, efficient, and impossibly friendly, what more could you ask for on a lazy Sunday? 3) The price - A recent brunch consisting of coffee, the pastry basket (split), lobster and crabcake eggs Benedict, and the Wonut (a waffle fried like a donut--you heard me right), cost me a mere $30, tax and tip included. When you realize that I actually ate enough food for two people (maybe even three), you'll understand what a good deal it is. In short, don't come here. I don't want to have to fight you for a table every time I come to Portland.

This place wins for best overall meal we had in Portland. Considering quality of food, cost, and complexity of what was prepared, this place gets 5 stars in all categories. We had the apple cinnamon buns - on special. They were incredible: fluffy and apple-filled and sticky and glorious. No frosting necessary. We followed by splitting the lobster crab cake Benedict. In-sane. Comes with a reasonable portion size of their superbly excellent hash: sweet potato and peppers and white potato and onions. Pair that with coffee, tea, and a couple mimosas, and you get the best meal we had in Portland - and also one of the cheapest. If you're not hitting this place for Sunday brunch, you're missing out.

I finally got back to Bibbo's for brunch this weekend and it was fantastic. Our whole group enjoyed the satanic eggs and lemon buttermilk biscuit basket. A falafel wrap, eggs benedict, smoked salmon and mimosas flowed all around. The staff and atmosphere were both great and the menu is full of fantastic items for around $10 and under. Between the food quality, service, atmosphere, and prices, this should be your go to for a great Portland breakfast or lunch, as now it's mine.

My husband and I really enjoyed our dinner at Bibo's on a Saturday evening. Best part - the restaurant was wonderfully quiet. We like our fun, trendy restaurant visits as much as the next guy but sometimes you just want good food in a calm atmosphere. That's what Bibo's was for us. While in Portland for a weekend wedding, Bibo's jumped out at my husband and me through consistent Yelp results for Sunday brunch. We liked that the brunch hours were from 10-2, and that Bibo's accepts Open Table reservations. We were also very intrigued to try the apple fritters that everybody raves about, which are only available on Sunday. Although we had a reservation, it was surprisingly quiet inside the restaurant at about 11 AM on a Sunday morning. We were seated in the charming and quaint front part of the building, which has a nice view of the street scape outside.We noticed the "no cell phones" sign, so I had to do my Yelping covertly lest I get a tongue lashing! We started with the apple fritters, which were a cool take on normally non-apple-y grocery store fritters. Bibo's fritters were actual pieces of apple, coated in lightly sweet breading, sitting in a shallow pool of lightly sweet sauce. Give them a try! Being that we were tourists in Portland, I had to order the lobster crabcake eggs Benedict. I had the Hollandaise left off so as to completely taste and enjoy the lobster and crab. The serving was large, the price was very reasonable, and the eggs were perfectly poached. Apparently, the English muffins are homemade, which added to the charm of this dish. Let me not forget the fact that Bibo wooed me with the homemade hot sauce that was served in the baby-sized squeeze bottle. It was a nice touch of heat (might be very spicy to some) to add to our Bendict and omelet! My husband had the omelet with some deliciously crispy bacon, plus a side of their homemade pastry - not a crumb remained. Fortunately, he shared his fruit garnish with me. Prices were really inexpensive, and our waitress was pleasant, prompt, and took great care of us.

Brunch struck again in Portland, ME. Next stop was to Bibo's Madd Apple Cafe in the Art District. The restaurant has a very relaxed, casual feel, with a bit of a quirky side. Art is found throughout the place and the pictures on the walls are all for sale. Service was a little slow-going to start, but things picked up and we were on our way to Brunchtown, USA. For my entree, I ordered the Belgian Waffle Of The Day: Coffee and Spice Wonut (cross between a waffle and donut with maple glaze, fruit and whipped cream). I didn't know a Wonut existed, but I'm damn glad that Bibo's made one. It truly was a well executed hybrid, incorporating the lightness of a waffle, but also the denser, cakiness of a donut. The flavor was amazing, a delightful spiced richness where you could get some waves of coffee essence, and the glaze was just the cherry on top. Well, glaze on top.

Stopped here on the way to baahaabaa. Made a reservation for 3 but ended up an hour earlier. They seated us as there were a few spits open. We ordered : French toast of the day, crabcakes and brunch sandwich. My friends really liked what they ordered. I had the French toast and though I really likes the taste I hate it when my French toast is soggy. I don't mind if the whipped cream and butter comes on the side as long as the French toast is crispy. I requested that my french toast was made extra crispy but it came heaped with melting creams and butter settled right in the middle so that most of it felt really gross and mushed up. If you are ok with mushy French toast then you'll love this. Coffee was good.

My boyfriend and I had brunch here late-afternoon on a Sunday. While the food was pretty good, it wasn't enough to compensate for the poor service. We only saw our waitress when we ordered, received our food, and asked for the check. I was out of water for most of the time we were at the restaurant. I struggle posting about hidden gems only to add them to the list of places you can't get a reservation to. However, the foodie in me prevails over the hipster. Excellent service and casual ambience. They represent the local craft beer scene offering drafts of Banded Horn from Biddeford, ME. The Pilsner was a hit amongst my group. House made bread served with olive oil and dukka (Mediterranean/N African seasoning) started the meal off on the right foot. We ordered 4 appetizers (chickpea fritters, satanic eggs, crab and lobster cakes and calamari), all divine. My favorite was the crab and lobster cake with the calamari being a close second. I've never had balsamic marinated calamari with a Parmesan topping - it resembled an al dente pasta with more depth. Other favorites for entrees were the chicken under a brick, homemade fettuccine and line-caught haddock. All fresh and perfectly prepared. Luckily, we live just a couple blocks away and plan on making this a regular dinner spot!

I don't even know what to say...I was almost speechless when I got the food. First off, wowza at the portions! They're HUMONGOUS!! I swear the pancakes were as big as my head (possibly bigger). Secondly, the food was so scrumptious. I'm smacking my mouth and drooling a little bit, just thinking about it. I ordered the apple fritters which were not overly sweet (unless you deliberately drench them in the sweet syrup) and light. I also ordered the lobster crab cake eggs benedict. It was wonderful in every way. The hollandaise sauce was made superbly. The english muffin was toasted and homemade. The cake was perfectly seasoned and fell apart in the most delicious way. And the egg was poached flawlessly. Seriously, everything about our brunch was the epitome of perfection. The service was good and the decor of the restaurant was a bit quirky and funky. Loved it and will definitely come back if I'm ever in the Portland area again!

This was one of my favorite weekend breakfast experiences anywhere! It hit the good eats trifecta of awesome service, food and price. Plus they serve adult beverages! Cute, kinda kitschy place with smaller tables. Adorable bottles of hot sauce and sugar cubes! Love! Our server was so kind and friendly and full of helpful information. We got the special espresso Belgian waffles which were heavenly, a breakfast sandwich and eggs Benny. All food was delicious and nothing was too greasy like at a lot of breakfast places. Easter Sunday Brunch - wow! I had the sauteed vegetable hash (they seemed like roasted vegetables - so good!) and my hubs had the lamb eggs benedict. The food here is imaginative and very well prepared. Drink list is also fun; my bloody mary was perfection and my husband had the honey mead mimosa that was delish. Service was attentive without being pushy and we never felt rushed despite the 'big holiday'. Glad we made reservations as they were turning people away from the door.

My husbad and I came here on our last morning in Portland. He had the mimosa and I got a coffee. Yum!! We shared the satanic eggs (deviled eggs) and a pastry of the day which were both big hits. First off, I don't write a lot of reviews but I had to for this awesome place. We went to here for Sunday brunch and instantly loved this place. The decor is awesome and the service was really friendly. You've got to try the muffin basket which includes three banana chocolate peanut butter chip muffins. Those where amazing and only $4. I got a egg white omelette with spinach, sausage, and peppers. That was a phenomenal omelette. We also got the breakfast quesadilla. The quesadilla had eggs, spinach, salsa, cheese, and sausage. It was really awesome. All of this food was only like $20. Go there. You won't regret it.

We arrived for our 10 o'clock reservation (love that they take reservations and are on opentable) several minutes early and the woman inside, possibly the owner, told us we were free to come in and wait inside even though they weren't open yet. The food was yummy- I got the eggs Benedict with crispy Brussels sprouts and bacon. I just wish it were a little bit hotter and I hadn't realized I wasn't crazy about hollandaise sauce in general. The English muffin seemed very local (maybe even baked there) and was quite yummy. Really solid place and major brownie points for taking reservations for brunch!

Brunch is not typically a meal that's memorable...Bibo's is one of few exceptions. Every single dish was delicious, satisfying and very generously served. The ambiance and staff were also top notch. We got the muffin (home made, so so delicious - fluffy and also a little bit cake a little bit cornbread), a delicious take on deviled eggs (satanic eggs - with avocado instead of yolk), and shared the eggs Benedict over crab cakes with lobster. Everything was fresh and delicious. This is a must for anyone searching for a relaxed brunch place in Portland.

We were having difficulty making reservations for dinner in Portland and I found this restaurant with very good reviews so thought we should give it a try. I should have wondered why there were open tables but figured being off the beaten path it would indeed be a gem. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The restaurant was nearly empty and with good reason. Our waitress seated us in the front room right next to the only other two tables occupied. It's a small area so it was a bit close. Our waitress was oddly attentive, hard to explain but she made all four in our party uncomfortable. The water poured was warm without ice. The "special" board consisted of wines and beers. I asked for her recommendation of a white off the special list and she choose one off the menu. The food was nothing special, I had the coconut shrimp. The shrimp was overcooked to my taste but more unforgivable was that my shrimp and my daughters had not been properly cleaned. Honestly I would have sent it back but the waitress was so odd and a bit creepy so we just wanted to finish and get out. My husbands BBQ pork was nothing special and a bit dry.. The cuisines and favors seemed oddly mixed- Mediterranean, Vietnamese , southern, Thai etc. it didn't really work. I would not return. My advise is, if visiting during a busy time, make your dinner reservations well in advance and skip this restaurant.

I always forget about Bobo's and remembered to check it out when I was in Portland this weekend for brunch. I am so happy we swung by--it was awesome! I had the egg sandwich with homefries and a little side of greens. The portions were generous--and a side of bacon, of course. It was perfect and went well with the smooth but strong cup of coffee. They serve up little brown lumps of sugar with the coffee, which was a big win for me! My friends Dawn and Mike got Bloodies. While they looked good, Dawn mentioned the use of Old Bay seasoning, which I agree, takes away from a good bloody. Dawn got the breakfast quesadilla, again, large portion, and everything looked really fresh. Mike got a turkey BLT.... which was HUGE, and the thick white bread was a little dry--but did not ruin the whole experience. Everything was really clean, even the small hot sauce bottle they give you with the homefries. My water glass was never empty. I loved the decor--and it wasn't too loud or crowded in there (which is good when you are a little fuzzy headed with a hangover). The space is smallish which gives it an intimate feel. I absolutely would love to check this place out for dinner sometime. It seems like it would be a great date spot. Can't wait to go back!

this is one of the consistently outstanding restaurants in Portland. Family owned, the owners are on site and the staff always attentive. We had the cedar plank roasted atlantic salmon as entree and the grilled pears for an appetizer. Absolutely delicious. The bed of risotto roasted with almonds was delightful and helped fill me up but not so much so that I couldn't indulge in the bread with Ducca - Ducca is apparently a middle eastern style mix of seasonings and spices. strong; a bit peppery, but oh so good with bread dipped in olive oil. Too much bread, too much olive oil too much weight gain but they generously refilled my dish till my ducca runneth over.

What a great find! Spotted it on the street after the Maine Half-Marathon in October and six of us stopped in for breakfast. The place is very cool inside, with nice artwork and a great layout. And the food was incredible. One member of our group got the Lobster Crabcake Benedict -- superb. My skillet was great. The apple pancake and other egg dishes were very good as well. Service was fantastic and she kept the coffee and water coming -- something tired half-marathoners needed. Would love to go back. And if I run that race again, I will.

We were in town visiting some friends & family in the Portland area and decided to check this place out with another couple based on their recommendation. We were seated quickly on a Saturday night even though the small dining room was full. The waitress was attentive & friendly. The food was absolutely delicious. I got a gourmet salad as an appetizer (mixed greens with native apples & goat cheese, craisins, toasted pumpkin seeds and a champagne vinegarette) which I was very happy about. I then got a pork loin with mashed potatoes & autumn squash that was out of this world. The sauces this chef adds to the dishes make the entire meal. The rest of the people at the table ordered a fried chicken special that I sampled and agreed was also fantastic. I would definitely go back to this place when I am in town again.

Walking into this cute cafe for Friday brunch kinda of gave me the creeps... old-timey tunes were floating out from the back, and there was only one other table and one sole elderly waiter, who I half expected to be all, "...I've always been here...". I suspect this joint is hopping on weekends though, so our solitary experience probably isn't normal for this place. That aside, I found the food solid: their veggie hash was really tasty and hit the spot, and their homemade falafel was excellent (had some sort of sesame seed crusty exterior). Lots of other great menu options as well that would tempt me to return when I'm next in the area. Solid choice for brunch/lunch.

Most amazing brunch I have ever had. Make a reservation and enjoy. Our group started with satanic eggs and apple fritters. Then we moved on to the eggs Benedict with crispy Brussels sprouts, goat cheese, and bacon, the breakfast burrito, The Mediterranean frittata, and some wicked good hash. My fiance and I were looking for a good brunch spot on a Sunday morning and we were not about to wait 45minutes to get into Bintliffs. Enter BiBo Madd Apple. When we arrived there were numerous empty tables and several groups in front of us. A group of 6 and a group of 4 were turned away because they did not have a reservation....mind boggling to me since there were literally only 2 tables with customers. Thankfully we were seated without much of a problem. There were several more groups that were turned away while we were there, but there were plenty of open tables. I just didn't get it. Onto the food. We started with the Pastry basket and it was yummy! Nutella, banana, and coconut sticky rolls were the treat of the day and were very good! We split a roll and brought the rest home for a snack for later. I ordered a sausage and goat cheese omelette and for my fiance the salmon eggs Benedict. My omelette was good, but the eggs benedict were perfection. A very generous portion of salmon went perfect with the creamy hollandaise. Overall a very good brunch, but they lose a star because they turned so many people away who didn't have a reservation. A word to the wise, reservations are key here!

Most of the reviews were about the brunch, but I can personally attest that the dinner dishes were just as amazing. We shared several appetizers -- the crab and lobster cakes, the calamari, satan eggs with goat cheese, a green salad -- and all were delicious. The service was excellent too and they have a good wine list. As an added bonus, there is a nice big parking lot across the streets, and believe me on a Friday night, parking is a big deal in this part of Portland. The décor was nice, and the place has a relaxed feel.

What is all the fuss about? Why the high ratings? One of our only opportunities to eat out for lunch in Portland and this place didn't live up to its yelp hype. We made a reservation because we were warned by other yelpers, only to arrive on a Thursday at lunch time to find the place near empty. The waiter tried to place us in a dark empty room closer to the kitchen, but when we asked is we could sit in the brighter room in the front, he obliged but didn't seem to happy about it. The place was nearly empty and for most of the time we were there only with one other twosome. Maybe he wanted to shorten his steps to the kitchen. The food was fine, but not amazing. But really impacted this rating was that the food took over 25 minutes to arrive and it was a glorified grilled cheese and salad. With the place nearly empty, we couldn't imagine what took so long. I don't know if I would say that the waiter had 'attitude' but he sure didn't seem to be interested in providing us with a good dining experience. It was quite a disappointing dining experience.

Sunday brunch and we wanted to try someplace different so we ran to Yelp and found reviews for Madd Apple. Why not??? There was no crowd, thought it was a little difficult to find, but worth it. Shrimp Benedict with a delicious Hollindase on top was a wonderful choise. And the eggs were cooked just right. Also lightly cooked mixture of potatoes and sweet potatoes also were perfect......... I think we found a new favorite Sunday brunch place!!!!!

Great service, everything was home made with an awesome changing menu. For years (yes, YEARS) I was under the misconception that Bibo's was overpriced and unfriendly. I had a few bad pick-up experiences that led me to feel unwelcome and generally unsatisfied with my experience here, and so I didn't go back. On a recent particularly cold and windy day, Bibo's came up in a search for nearby breakfast spots. After checking out some photos of what they had to offer, and deciding that the two-block walk was about as far as we wanted to travel in the blustery weather, I decided to give Bibo's another shot. And by this I mean that, after looking at Yelp photos, I decided that their food looked so good that my mind was made up and there was no changing it. When we walked in shortly after their opening time of 10AM there was only one other table seated, and we were greeted and then promptly asked if we had a reservation. I got a brief feeling of dread that we'd be scolded for not calling ahead, despite the empty room, but we actually got a cheerful "No problem!" and were seated right away. In hindsight, we should have asked to be seated in the interior room, as our seat by the window was chilly - something to keep in mind if you're visiting in the winter. Our waitress was friendly, patient with my terrible decision making skills, and delivered our food promptly. We started with Apple Fritters ($5.95) and they were absolutely the highlight of my meal. Huge slices of apple slathered in fried dough-like batter, topped with cinnamon sugar and maple syrup, and delightfully crispy with a warm apple center. I would return here solely for a plate (or two) of these. We choose two different Eggs Benedict dishes: Smoked Salmon ($8.95) and Lobster Crab Cake ($12.95). The crab cake was lacking in lobster, but still pretty tasty. Salmon was perfectly smokey and salty. Hash browns were deliciously spiced and perfect when drenched in what seemed to be house-made hot sauce. Bloody Mary's are reasonably priced ($4.95) and bubbly breakfast drinks are a little more expensive. Prices were, overall, reasonable for brunch. I'd like to try out dinner, although it seems like some of their items are on the pricier side for the somewhat casual, whimsical environment of the place. Give it a shot, you might be pleasantly surprised.

You want a great deal on a delicious, huge breakfast, Bibo's is the place! I had a wonderful breakfast at Bibo's this past Sunday. I ordered the omelet, a side of bacon and a Bloody Mary, which was only $4.75. I'm pretty sure there are places you can't even order a beer for $4.75. My bill, with a 20% tip, was around $15. The food was fresh, the portions were huge. We apologized for not finishing all of our food. The waitress said that people rarely consume everything. The atmosphere was pleasant. Not too noisy. The temperature was a little cold, and left me wishing I had brought a sweater. Definitely a good place to hit up if you are looking for a nice, reasonably price Portland breakfast/brunch.

We stopped by while on a long memorial day weekend for brunch and so glad we did. I ordered a bloody marry to start off and it was very delicious... A few moments later our pastry basket came out with our strawberry rubarb muffins with fresh butter and jam. I took one look and I couldnt believe how huge and delicious they looked! That didn't even compare to the taste though... These were some of the best muffins I've ever had... I could have just ended with those but I also ordered the lobster crabcake eggs benedict. My plate came out and it was piled on with 2 gigantic lobster crabcakes and a heap of spicy potatoes! Every last bite was savory and delicious like the last... And I even managed to get a bite in of my fiancès bowl of home made yogurt with fresh barries. Needless to say we left stuffed and with a great taste in your mouths. We will absolutely be back for brunch when we head back up to one of our favorite new england cities!

My wife and I were in town from Chicago for the Maine marathon and waited too long booking our pre-race dinner to score a reasonable time at an Italian venue (traditional choice for a pre-race meal). After scouring OpenTable for restaurants that had availability and appeared to have a nice, interesting menu that would work as a pre-race meal (i.e. not comprised of largely overly rich or fried foods), Bibo's seemed to be the best available choice. Bibo's has a small space but a pleasant ambiance with very funky, artsy decor (fitting since it is located in Portland's art district and next door to a theater). Tables are adequately spaced so that despite the small interior there is plenty of personal space and an upscale and intimate atmosphere. We arrived soon after opening on a Saturday evening but by the time we left all but a couple of two-tops were filled. Bibo's menu is rather eclectic - for example as appetizers you can choose from bar type food (chips and dip), Mediterranean food (sesame chickpea fritters), Asian food (Vietnamese spring rolls), local food (Maine crab cakes) and more. The entrees are a bit more focused (with a seafood emphasis featuring American cuisine with some Mediterranean influence). Prior to our appetizers we were served some garlic bread with a cool, funky presentation inside a flower pot. It is accompanied by dukka (an Egyptian condiment consisting of crushed nuts, herbs and spices). The bread and dukka was tasty but we were a bit surprised it was served room temperature (my wife and I both had expected it to be hot). Our appetizers and entrees overall were quite good. As my appetizer I opted for the Vietnamese spring rolls that were filled with veggies and some pork belly and accompanied by a spicy peanut sauce. These were excellent. My father ordered the Satanic Eggs (deviled eggs with a filling-of-the-day which on this occasion was a curry based filling). He was extremely pleased with his appetizer. My wife went with the chips and dip; while the French onion dip was excellent some of the chips were soggy and there was not enough dip for the amount of chips. My father and I both had fish for our entrees (haddock and salmon respectfully) and both were great; the fish tasted fresh, was cooked well and I loved the marinade on the salmon (tamari lime). The zucchini noodles (spaghetti like appearance and consistency) served atop the fish were fun and tasty as well and the jasmine rice soaked up the sauce from the fish and was delicious. My wife had the slow roasted chicken with pesto tossed angel hair pasta and arugula salad. Her dish was fair with the main negative being that some portions of the chicken were dry. The only real negative of the night was the desserts. My father ordered the chocolate pot de creme and it looked and tasted nothing like pot de creme - it was more like a dense, disc shaped flourless chocolate cake on top of a plate with no mousse like consistency; there were some blobs of sauce off to the side. Perhaps they were attempting a deconstructed pot de creme, this may have been the case as the venue is a tad eccentric (just look at how they spell "mad" in the name of the restaurant ) but if so this should have been explained when the course was ordered or at least when it was presented. If it was a deconstruction it did not work; while my father found it edible, it was not particularly good. I wanted something light (since I had the race the next morning) and ordered gelato. They had interesting flavors (it was a duo with a blueberry/lemon and a mead) but the quality and consistency was poor. Not a lot of flavor and it was way over frozen with lots of ice crystals. My wife did not find any of the desserts appealing and took a pass. I am not sure if this was an off night for desserts or if this is just not their forte. Aside from the poor desserts the rest of the meal was overall quite good and we enjoyed the ambiance; service was fairly friendly and attentive as well. Pricing is reasonable (appetizers run $5 to $11 and entrees $17 to $20) and portion sizes fairly generous. There appeared to be a rather nice (and also reasonably priced) wine list, but we had to take a pass (with my wife and I having the race the next morning; my father did opt for a glass of wine and was pleased with the one our server recommended). As I looked at Bibo's website they also have a nice brunch menu and periodically hold some wine dinners; if I lived in the area I definitely would come in for brunch and book a wine dinner. Bibo's is worth checking out; definitely make reservations as it is such a small venue.

The sign on the bench outside quotes Dave Barry: "A person who is nice to you but rude to the waiter is not a nice person." A restaurant that lets a line form for thirty minutes and then when they open announces that they're booked for hours can't be that good of a restaurant. The staff could see us through the huge windows; there really was no excuse.

We have been to this place about 6 times over the last couple years and have experienced consistently rude staff, ontop of that they make you feel very unwelcomed. Don't even dare "walk in" to this place without a reservation- we were scoled and turned away the last two times we tried to go. Finally, my husband said he's had enough and we will not be going there again. There are way too many tasty restaurants in this town to settle for bad service and rude waitstaff.

Friendly waitstaff, yummy bloody mary's, and food that truly hit the spot. If Dukka is on the menu, GET IT! We all enjoyed the vegetable hash, frittatas, seared scallop special, and fresh muffin basket. This place is a hidden gem in Portland - make a point to go the next time you're in town!

I originally stopped by Bibo's with Steff D. a couple months ago, only to realize that they only serve this delightful treat during Sunday brunch! :( I happened to be up early on a recent Sunday, so a few friends and I went to try again. If you had any questions about the size of the dish, it's the size of a large apple. How simple, right?? They slice up an apple, coat it in some delicious coating, and fry the um... life out of it. Don't worry, it still retains a wonderful crunch! It's typically served like a shared appetizer, but I wasn't too hungry so I didn't order anything else. It was plenty tasty and filling for my tiny breakfast-time stomach, and I also enjoyed a bottle of their home-brewed ginger soda. If I were more hungry... I would've liked to try their satanic eggs! It looked like a fun play on deviled eggs, and their fillings change. The menu was adorable with the daily (I think) specials which consisted of the different egg fillings and specialty waffles, among other things. Unfortunately they ran out of the eggs the morning I was there. :( The interior is definitely quirky! There is a wall with windows that separates the front from the back, and it's definitely a cute place for a small private meal.

Enjoyed a lovely brunch here this morning. Started with the muffins- cinnamon raisin. They were so good and paired with the butter and jam that accompany them- they were fantastic! I ordered a Bloody Mary. Nice mix and tasty olive! My boyfriend ordered The Bee-Mosa (orange juice, mead, prosecco). I didn't like that one as much because I felt the mead overpowered the taste of the drink. He liked it though! We ordered the two specials for brunch. His was a skillet with home fries, eggs, bacon, and lots of cheese. It came with homemade toast and some more of the lovely jam and butter! I ordered scallop and bacon eggs benedict. Dare I say this was the best eggs benedict that I've ever had! The hollandaise was light, the home fries were savory, the scallops were cooked to perfection, the eggs burst to reveal beautiful runny yolks, and all of this was sitting atop homemade English muffins! The English muffins were dense but chewy. They were unbelievable. I didn't care for the bacon because it was too crisp for my liking. But I barely noticed because I was too busy with the rest of this dish! I can't believe this was our first time here but we will absolutely be back!

we had two different varieties of benedict (salmon and fried haddock), both were awesome. very friendly staff and a great spot for brunch. some interesting mead based drinks would like to try next time!

We arrived here probably around 12pm this past Sunday for brunch, any later and we would have ended up waiting for quite a while, this place filled up quick! A cute cafe with a funky slightly granola feel, but sunny and comfortable. Pros: $5 bloody mary's. You heard me. Actually they're $4.95. So good! Just the right amount of spice and zest. A pastry basket for $4. You get two moist and fluffy blueberry muffins and a homemade biscuit paired with butter, jam, and a lemon curd. Also, delicious and only $4. Cons: I was really bummed out about my smoked salmon benedict and the squeeze's lobster crabcake benedict. The smoke salmon tasted exactly like the smoked salmon trimmings that you can buy at Hannaford for $1.95, kinda greasy and fatty. There wasn't enough hollandaise sauce to cover the benedict, and as delicious as their homemade english muffins were, my meal was sooo dry as a result. Obviously the lobster crabcakes are probably made the night prior and refrigerated/frozen, but the squeeze said they tasted frozen. Again, not a lot of hollandaise sauce so his meal was also dry. Not worth the $13 he said. We'd go back for the bargain prices, but would definitely get something else for brunch.

Summary: Satanic Eggs are deviled eggs with flavored fillings that you must eat; given that I know of no other place selling Satanic Eggs in a super comfy setting, I encourage you to eat Satanic Eggs (and other stuff) at Bibo's. My 9yo and I ate brunch here last weekend after a quick visit to the art museum. This is a super cute place with a very comfortable, cozy layout. It was the day after Spock's death, and they'd cleverly created Spock-related dish names. The bleu cheese and bacon Satanic Eggs were absolutely phenomenal...and my Vulcan Nerve Pinch sandwich (egg, pulled pork, avocado, black beans) was dope as hell. No AmEx is annoying - but understandable, especially for a smaller place like this one. Will return, regardless.

Bibo's Madd Apple Cafe is easily my favorite brunch spot in Portland, and quite possibly my favorite in all of New England. Let me count the reasons why: 1) The food - Inspired, delicious, and ever-changing. Finding out what's included in the rotating pastry basket is almost as exciting as reaching into your stocking at Christmas. And the eggs Benedict is among the best I've had anywhere. 2) The service - Casual, efficient, and impossibly friendly, what more could you ask for on a lazy Sunday? 3) The price - A recent brunch consisting of coffee, the pastry basket (split), lobster and crabcake eggs Benedict, and the Wonut (a waffle fried like a donut--you heard me right), cost me a mere $30, tax and tip included. When you realize that I actually ate enough food for two people (maybe even three), you'll understand what a good deal it is. In short, don't come here. I don't want to have to fight you for a table every time I come to Portland.

This place wins for best overall meal we had in Portland. Considering quality of food, cost, and complexity of what was prepared, this place gets 5 stars in all categories. We had the apple cinnamon buns - on special. They were incredible: fluffy and apple-filled and sticky and glorious. No frosting necessary. We followed by splitting the lobster crab cake Benedict. In-sane. Comes with a reasonable portion size of their superbly excellent hash: sweet potato and peppers and white potato and onions. Pair that with coffee, tea, and a couple mimosas, and you get the best meal we had in Portland - and also one of the cheapest. If you're not hitting this place for Sunday brunch, you're missing out.

I finally got back to Bibbo's for brunch this weekend and it was fantastic. Our whole group enjoyed the satanic eggs and lemon buttermilk biscuit basket. A falafel wrap, eggs benedict, smoked salmon and mimosas flowed all around. The staff and atmosphere were both great and the menu is full of fantastic items for around $10 and under. Between the food quality, service, atmosphere, and prices, this should be your go to for a great Portland breakfast or lunch, as now it's mine.

My husband and I really enjoyed our dinner at Bibo's on a Saturday evening. Best part - the restaurant was wonderfully quiet. We like our fun, trendy restaurant visits as much as the next guy but sometimes you just want good food in a calm atmosphere. That's what Bibo's was for us. We decided to get both the Satanic Eggs (the evening's ingredients were avocado, ricotta and pesto - yum!) and the chickpea fritters to start and then share the haddock for dinner. All was delicious and fresh. The waitress was great and paced the meal perfectly. Highly recommended for dinner.

While in Portland for a weekend wedding, Bibo's jumped out at my husband and me through consistent Yelp results for Sunday brunch. We liked that the brunch hours were from 10-2, and that Bibo's accepts Open Table reservations. We were also very intrigued to try the apple fritters that everybody raves about, which are only available on Sunday. Although we had a reservation, it was surprisingly quiet inside the restaurant at about 11 AM on a Sunday morning. We were seated in the charming and quaint front part of the building, which has a nice view of the street scape outside.We noticed the "no cell phones" sign, so I had to do my Yelping covertly lest I get a tongue lashing! We started with the apple fritters, which were a cool take on normally non-apple-y grocery store fritters. Bibo's fritters were actual pieces of apple, coated in lightly sweet breading, sitting in a shallow pool of lightly sweet sauce. Give them a try! Being that we were tourists in Portland, I had to order the lobster crabcake eggs Benedict. I had the Hollandaise left off so as to completely taste and enjoy the lobster and crab. The serving was large, the price was very reasonable, and the eggs were perfectly poached. Apparently, the English muffins are homemade, which added to the charm of this dish. Let me not forget the fact that Bibo wooed me with the homemade hot sauce that was served in the baby-sized squeeze bottle. It was a nice touch of heat (might be very spicy to some) to add to our Bendict and omelet! My husband had the omelet with some deliciously crispy bacon, plus a side of their homemade pastry - not a crumb remained. Fortunately, he shared his fruit garnish with me. Prices were really inexpensive, and our waitress was pleasant, prompt, and took great care of us.

Brunch struck again in Portland, ME. Next stop was to Bibo's Madd Apple Cafe in the Art District. The restaurant has a very relaxed, casual feel, with a bit of a quirky side. Art is found throughout the place and the pictures on the walls are all for sale. Service was a little slow-going to start, but things picked up and we were on our way to Brunchtown, USA. For my entree, I ordered the Belgian Waffle Of The Day: Coffee and Spice Wonut (cross between a waffle and donut with maple glaze, fruit and whipped cream). I didn't know a Wonut existed, but I'm damn glad that Bibo's made one. It truly was a well executed hybrid, incorporating the lightness of a waffle, but also the denser, cakiness of a donut. The flavor was amazing, a delightful spiced richness where you could get some waves of coffee essence, and the glaze was just the cherry on top. Well, glaze on top.

Stopped here on the way to baahaabaa. Made a reservation for 3 but ended up an hour earlier. They seated us as there were a few spits open. We ordered : French toast of the day, crabcakes and brunch sandwich. My friends really liked what they ordered. I had the French toast and though I really likes the taste I hate it when my French toast is soggy. I don't mind if the whipped cream and butter comes on the side as long as the French toast is crispy. I requested that my french toast was made extra crispy but it came heaped with melting creams and butter settled right in the middle so that most of it felt really gross and mushed up. If you are ok with mushy French toast then you'll love this. Coffee was good.

My boyfriend and I had brunch here late-afternoon on a Sunday. While the food was pretty good, it wasn't enough to compensate for the poor service. We only saw our waitress when we ordered, received our food, and asked for the check. I was out of water for most of the time we were at the restaurant. Also, they were extremely slow, which the lack of attention and communication really exacerbated. We will not be returning.

I struggle posting about hidden gems only to add them to the list of places you can't get a reservation to. However, the foodie in me prevails over the hipster. Excellent service and casual ambience. They represent the local craft beer scene offering drafts of Banded Horn from Biddeford, ME. The Pilsner was a hit amongst my group. House made bread served with olive oil and dukka (Mediterranean/N African seasoning) started the meal off on the right foot. We ordered 4 appetizers (chickpea fritters, satanic eggs, crab and lobster cakes and calamari), all divine. My favorite was the crab and lobster cake with the calamari being a close second. I've never had balsamic marinated calamari with a Parmesan topping - it resembled an al dente pasta with more depth. Other favorites for entrees were the chicken under a brick, homemade fettuccine and line-caught haddock. All fresh and perfectly prepared. Luckily, we live just a couple blocks away and plan on making this a regular dinner spot!

I don't even know what to say...I was almost speechless when I got the food. First off, wowza at the portions! They're HUMONGOUS!! I swear the pancakes were as big as my head (possibly bigger). Secondly, the food was so scrumptious. I'm smacking my mouth and drooling a little bit, just thinking about it. I ordered the apple fritters which were not overly sweet (unless you deliberately drench them in the sweet syrup) and light. I also ordered the lobster crab cake eggs benedict. It was wonderful in every way. The hollandaise sauce was made superbly. The english muffin was toasted and homemade. The cake was perfectly seasoned and fell apart in the most delicious way. And the egg was poached flawlessly. Seriously, everything about our brunch was the epitome of perfection. The service was good and the decor of the restaurant was a bit quirky and funky. Loved it and will definitely come back if I'm ever in the Portland area again!

This was one of my favorite weekend breakfast experiences anywhere! It hit the good eats trifecta of awesome service, food and price. Plus they serve adult beverages! Cute, kinda kitschy place with smaller tables. Adorable bottles of hot sauce and sugar cubes! Love! Our server was so kind and friendly and full of helpful information. We got the special espresso Belgian waffles which were heavenly, a breakfast sandwich and eggs Benny. All food was delicious and nothing was too greasy like at a lot of breakfast places. The prices were very fair for the area. Overall, the entire experience was just super pleasant and we left on a cloud9 of gluttony and good service.

Easter Sunday Brunch - wow! I had the sauteed vegetable hash (they seemed like roasted vegetables - so good!) and my hubs had the lamb eggs benedict. The food here is imaginative and very well prepared. Drink list is also fun; my bloody mary was perfection and my husband had the honey mead mimosa that was delish. Service was attentive without being pushy and we never felt rushed despite the 'big holiday'. Glad we made reservations as they were turning people away from the door.

My husbad and I came here on our last morning in Portland. He had the mimosa and I got a coffee. Yum!! We shared the satanic eggs (deviled eggs) and a pastry of the day which were both big hits. First off, I don't write a lot of reviews but I had to for this awesome place. We went to here for Sunday brunch and instantly loved this place. The decor is awesome and the service was really friendly. You've got to try the muffin basket which includes three banana chocolate peanut butter chip muffins. Those where amazing and only $4. I got a egg white omelette with spinach, sausage, and peppers. That was a phenomenal omelette. We also got the breakfast quesadilla. The quesadilla had eggs, spinach, salsa, cheese, and sausage. It was really awesome. All of this food was only like $20. Go there. You won't regret it.

We arrived for our 10 o'clock reservation (love that they take reservations and are on opentable) several minutes early and the woman inside, possibly the owner, told us we were free to come in and wait inside even though they weren't open yet. The food was yummy- I got the eggs Benedict with crispy Brussels sprouts and bacon. I just wish it were a little bit hotter and I hadn't realized I wasn't crazy about hollandaise sauce in general. The English muffin seemed very local (maybe even baked there) and was quite yummy. Really solid place and major brownie points for taking reservations for brunch!

I had the Benedict with spinach, tomato, and avocado without the muffin since I am gluten free with potatoes - it was a good deal of food for the price. Brunch is not typically a meal that's memorable...Bibo's is one of few exceptions. Every single dish was delicious, satisfying and very generously served. The ambiance and staff were also top notch. We got the muffin (home made, so so delicious - fluffy and also a little bit cake a little bit cornbread), a delicious take on deviled eggs (satanic eggs - with avocado instead of yolk), and shared the eggs Benedict over crab cakes with lobster. Everything was fresh and delicious. This is a must for anyone searching for a relaxed brunch place in Portland.

We were having difficulty making reservations for dinner in Portland and I found this restaurant with very good reviews so thought we should give it a try. I should have wondered why there were open tables but figured being off the beaten path it would indeed be a gem. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The restaurant was nearly empty and with good reason. Our waitress seated us in the front room right next to the only other two tables occupied. It's a small area so it was a bit close. Our waitress was oddly attentive, hard to explain but she made all four in our party uncomfortable. The water poured was warm without ice. The "special" board consisted of wines and beers. I asked for her recommendation of a white off the special list and she choose one off the menu. The food was nothing special, I had the coconut shrimp. The shrimp was overcooked to my taste but more unforgivable was that my shrimp and my daughters had not been properly cleaned. Honestly I would have sent it back but the waitress was so odd and a bit creepy so we just wanted to finish and get out. My husbands BBQ pork was nothing special and a bit dry.. The cuisines and favors seemed oddly mixed- Mediterranean, Vietnamese , southern, Thai etc. it didn't really work. I would not return. My advise is, if visiting during a busy time, make your dinner reservations well in advance and skip this restaurant.

I always forget about Bobo's and remembered to check it out when I was in Portland this weekend for brunch. I am so happy we swung by--it was awesome! I had the egg sandwich with homefries and a little side of greens. The portions were generous--and a side of bacon, of course. It was perfect and went well with the smooth but strong cup of coffee. They serve up little brown lumps of sugar with the coffee, which was a big win for me! My friends Dawn and Mike got Bloodies. While they looked good, Dawn mentioned the use of Old Bay seasoning, which I agree, takes away from a good bloody. Dawn got the breakfast quesadilla, again, large portion, and everything looked really fresh. Mike got a turkey BLT.... which was HUGE, and the thick white bread was a little dry--but did not ruin the whole experience. Everything was really clean, even the small hot sauce bottle they give you with the homefries. My water glass was never empty. I loved the decor--and it wasn't too loud or crowded in there (which is good when you are a little fuzzy headed with a hangover). The space is smallish which gives it an intimate feel. I absolutely would love to check this place out for dinner sometime. It seems like it would be a great date spot. Can't wait to go back!

this is one of the consistently outstanding restaurants in Portland. Family owned, the owners are on site and the staff always attentive. We had the cedar plank roasted atlantic salmon as entree and the grilled pears for an appetizer. Absolutely delicious. The bed of risotto roasted with almonds was delightful and helped fill me up but not so much so that I couldn't indulge in the bread with Ducca - Ducca is apparently a middle eastern style mix of seasonings and spices. strong; a bit peppery, but oh so good with bread dipped in olive oil. Too much bread, too much olive oil too much weight gain but they generously refilled my dish till my ducca runneth over.

What a great find! Spotted it on the street after the Maine Half-Marathon in October and six of us stopped in for breakfast. The place is very cool inside, with nice artwork and a great layout. And the food was incredible. One member of our group got the Lobster Crabcake Benedict -- superb. My skillet was great. The apple pancake and other egg dishes were very good as well. Service was fantastic and she kept the coffee and water coming -- something tired half-marathoners needed. Would love to go back. And if I run that race again, I will.

We were in town visiting some friends & family in the Portland area and decided to check this place out with another couple based on their recommendation. We were seated quickly on a Saturday night even though the small dining room was full. The waitress was attentive & friendly. The food was absolutely delicious. I got a gourmet salad as an appetizer (mixed greens with native apples & goat cheese, craisins, toasted pumpkin seeds and a champagne vinegarette) which I was very happy about. I then got a pork loin with mashed potatoes & autumn squash that was out of this world. The sauces this chef adds to the dishes make the entire meal. The rest of the people at the table ordered a fried chicken special that I sampled and agreed was also fantastic. I would definitely go back to this place when I am in town again.

Walking into this cute cafe for Friday brunch kinda of gave me the creeps... old-timey tunes were floating out from the back, and there was only one other table and one sole elderly waiter, who I half expected to be all, "...I've always been here...". I suspect this joint is hopping on weekends though, so our solitary experience probably isn't normal for this place. That aside, I found the food solid: their veggie hash was really tasty and hit the spot, and their homemade falafel was excellent (had some sort of sesame seed crusty exterior). Lots of other great menu options as well that would tempt me to return when I'm next in the area. Solid choice for brunch/lunch.

Most amazing brunch I have ever had. Make a reservation and enjoy. Our group started with satanic eggs and apple fritters. Then we moved on to the eggs Benedict with crispy Brussels sprouts, goat cheese, and bacon, the breakfast burrito, The Mediterranean frittata, and some wicked good hash. We finished off brunch with a mocha wonut, you won't be disappointed. Awesome service from Ed and lots of bubble from the bar :) next time we are in portland we will be back YUM!
