The most note worthy characteristic David's has is the view. We have come here for drinks, bar fare, breakfast and dinner. The only complaint we have is the call ahead/reservation/seating method is not consistent or reliable. We called to get on their "call ahead" list at 6:45 on Friday evening and were told the wait was 2 hours and 45 minutes. We decided to walk over to the restaurant since we were staying quite close. We were told about 30-40 minutes for a table. This was 5 minutes later. We have never been disappointed by the food. For dinner my husband ordered lobster Mac and I ordered Scallops and Shrimp on a skewer. We started with Muscles and both had cocktails. The food runner brought out the incorrect dish for my husband but quickly returned with the correct one. He simply grabbed the wrong plate. For breakfast we both had buttermilk pancakes and shared a side order of sausage. The coffee was pretty good as well. The Cocktails are always just right and the service attentive.

Awesome happy hour, really good food and service at the bar . Loved the potstickers, cheese plate and mushroom bruschetta but no parking for non hotel guest = no 5 stars !! At least that is what the valet guy told us.

Good location, over priced food that is sometimes good. We used to be loyal customers, but the place has really gone downhill as of recent. Their text system is ridiculous too! We arrived 4 minutes late (having only 15 minutes to get there after being told the wait was up to 2 hours and texted 45 minutes later) and were rudely told by the hostess that we were at the bottom of the list. There are plenty of better restaurants in KPT than David's!

Stopped in for a light lunch and a beer so sat at the bar. The two attendants were very friendly and helpful with suggestions. I ordered a bowl of David's Chowder. It was fabulous. Diced but firm potatoes, clam bits, thick and tasty broth, just a tad too much rosemary for my liking, thus the 4 stars. The chowder was served with bread and a dipping oil. Yum! My wife got a chicken salad sandwich, served on a nice roll with pickles, tomatoes and red onion on the side. She really liked it a lot. She ordered a bloody mary with her sandwich. It was very good and topped with a HUGE shrimp, a meal in itself. The drink was made with Titos, not just any vodka. Well done! I'd go back in a minute to try some other menu items.

Really nice lunch with a nice Sauvignon blanco and Gruner veltliner. The mussels and smoked salmon and scallop cakes were delicious especially the latter with a Fresh tomato, roasted corn and red onion with some champagne vinaigrette. We followed it up with the thai salad with calamari and a nice Green salad with perfectly cooked tenderloin. We also had the good fortune of meeting the Chef David who kindly came over and described the process of making the salmon and scallop cakes. Definitely recommend David's and would absolutely come back again for lunch or dinner.

This place was good. We came here right after getting into town. We had fish and chips and a burger; both were good. Looks like they have a good happy hour, though we weren't there for that.

I was looking for a restaurant with great outdoor dining or a great view that also had delicious food. We certainly found it here! I loved the atmosphere, very clean, modern and had a wrap-around porch for outdoor dining right on the Kennebunk River. The inside dining would have been nice as well as the windows stretched almost floor to ceiling along the deck to give you the same outdoor feel. The wait was longer than quoted, but there are three bars for waiting and they have the great cell app to let you know how things are progressing with your table. Chowder was very good and I was happy with the lobster Mac n cheese as well. Only negative would probably be the restroom maintenance wasn't great- when I went in they were out of toilet paper and it was overall a mess. Not what you would expect for a high-end restaurant. Will definitely return!

After hearing from a friend how great the food and view are here, we thought we'd try it for dinner. Upon entering we we not greated, but instead stared at by the hostess & no, there was nothing unusual or inappropriate about us to stare at. When I inquired about the menu offered at that time, the hostess only responded in a very negative and rude manner. It was most certainly not welcoming. We turned and left, only to have an excellent dinner and friendly service at another lovely restaurant close by. Divine intervention!

We had oysters on the half shell drinks and dessert. All were excellent and the waitress was exceptionally friendly and such a hard worker. Always attending to our needs. They have a few different bars throughout the restaurant which was nice and seating all with great views of the docks.

Great happy hour. The raw bar is great there as well. Sit outside on the porch. Wines on the happy hour not so good. Great staff and very nice valet dudes from Jamaica.

I went there this week and was really disappointed. Two years ago I had the lobster ravioli, which was good...then. Our waitress recommended it this time too, but this time it was just plain bad. Our server made us feel she was doing us a favor. Expensive, with mediocre service and food is a bad combination. They need an intervention.

Last week, after having dinner at Mabel's, we stopped at David's for a nightcap. I asked the very nice hostess if we could get a glass of champagne at the bar and then sit at one of the empty tables in the dining room, overlooking the water. The dining room was empty except for one table. She informed me that the dining room was only for those eating dinner and if we wanted just a drink, we had to sit at the bar. I really did not want to sit at the bar and asked if she could make an exception. I was even prepared to tip the dining room waitress if necessary. She said that she could not go against David's rules. It appeared as if she was actually afraid to go and ask a manager if it would be ok to bend this rule a bit. Reluctantly, we sat at the bar. I find this policy to be quite inhospitable, especially when the dining room was almost empty. I travel to Kennebunkport on a regular basis but , safe to say, I will not return to David's. I do not know of another restaurant in the town which would invoke such a ridiculous policy. George Howard, Manchester, VT

We ate in this fabulous restaurant last weekend. The service was wonderful, as was the waitress. The food was cooked perfectly, I had open faced ravioli,it was served as stated with freshly made pasta, cheese and seafood so fresh you would think they just caught it. It had a cream type sauce that was light and delicious. Followed by a mango coconut cheesecake. I would most certainly return here.

Whenever I come visit my family in Maine one of our usual spots to dine is at David's. My mom told me that gram liked the steak lunch so I decided to take her out for something I knew she would like. We ended up arriving a bit early (11:15am). I figured we could sit at the bar as there was a woman with a laptop at the bar but we were instructed to sit in the low seats by the hotel entrance. I mention low seats as my grandmother is elderly and had both knees replaced. No biggie but was annoying as I don't see the harm in being seated and just enjoying the view for 15 minutes without ordering. As 11:30 came we didn't hear anything. I guess I should have prefaced this review us both being ready to eat! After 11:30, two young women were standing at the reception desk for the restaurant looking clueless. By this time, another couple was sitting on another set of chairs. After some point, I and the other party got up and approached the reception to be seated. I mean, what did these women think we were waiting for? I requested we be seated outside under an open umbrella as the 4 on the patio were closed. I was informed they didn't have umbrellas to which I simply asked the woman, "What do you call those big blue things?" She replied with some story about how they are adding on a new section and how great it would be. This did not answer my question so I had to inquire as to why one of the umbrellas could not be open. To be honest, I don't exactly recall her reply but it was something along the lines that they can't. It should be noted these umbrellas were on the side of the deck that construction was not taking place and could have easily been open. Anyway, we were seated and we certainly knew what we were going to order as we had plenty of time to peruse the menu. We order everything at once. I ordered 2 large shrimp cocktail, gram had the steak, and I ordered a salad with steak. I asked for both steaks medium rare, pink all the way through (as gram and I like them). I should mention that it was quite hot out and our glasses of water and a beer had so much condensation that there were small pools of water all over the table in a mater of minutes. Out come the shrimp on chopped ice in a shallow dish. As you might imagine, trying to cut shrimp on watery ice cause the ice to spill onto the table creating more of a water issue. The shrimp should not have been displayed this way as they were so watery that the cocktail sauce could not get enough traction to stay on the shrimp. Our steaks came out. I started cutting gram's steak with the butter knife available; however, it was so difficult to cut I called the waitress over that I needed a steak knife. I was informed the restaurant does not have any steak knives. To say I was shocked would be an understatement. The waitress then mentioned that the steak was so tender that it did not need a steak knife. At this point I was pissed and said, "Oh really?!", as I reach for the fork and knife and physically tried sawing through the steak, "I don't know, we don't have any steak knives," was her reply and left. We were starving but in hindsight I should have known something was wrong. I spend considerable muscle and energy sawing her steak so she could eat it. Then it was time to hack through my steak for my salad. My knuckles hurt! If the waitress knew that the steak was so tender you didn't need a steak knife and she saw that this steak clearly wasn't tender and needed a butcher knife, why didn't she inquire with the kitchen as to what had happened? Shit, wasn't there a sharp knife in the kitchen? All I knew is my gram liked this steak so I took her hear and figured this is what she liked. Both of our steaks did not have great flavor. More red inside vs. pink. I should mention my salad came with the wrong dressing, which the waitress fixed and apologized for. I could care less about the dressing. How about the lack of steak knives and poor meat? Once finished I asked for everything to be taking away and that the table be wiped up. At this point water was everywhere. I did not want to stay here but I knew my gram loved the mash in (or something along those lines) for dessert. We ordered that and she loved it. This experience was so annoying that I will not go back. I went home and told my mom what happened and she was shocked. She said she never had to saw through the meat and that the waitress should have taken it back. I figured it was a cheap meal so you get cheap steak. Perhaps if we weren't so hungry I would have at least been thinking a bit clearer. I eat steak a lot. The steak is $50 and everything is a la cart. And trust me, this steak is so tender you only kneed to put mild pressure on your fork and it will cut; however, you are given one hell of a steak knife regardless. It's just what you do people!

Stay away, Touris trap Maybe the dinner and the lunch is good (we'll never know), but the Brunch on Sunday was pitiful. My omelette was so burned and dry I couldn't get a fork through it, the potatoes were ice cold, as well as the coffee. My husband, on the other hand, had eggs that were so undercooked and runny they slid off the plate. The sausage on his plate could have been used for a hockey puck. The place itself is beautiful, but the food is way over rated. I hate to complain especially since the waitress had a chip on her shoulder, so I just asked to order a piece of the blueberry coffee cake. There was no taste, it was mushy, and the blueberries could not have come from Maine. There was nothing redeemable in either meal. Unfortunately, we paid for it and left. Believe me when I tell you the local places in town have tremendous breakfasts, better service and half the price. The one star is for the view and the location. David needs to rethink his cranky staff and terrible brunch.....

Had a late lunch again here at the back bar. The place was crazy because of prelude and even had controlled seating at the bar. Kim waited on us and did an outstanding job. We had a few dark n stormys, some shrimp cocktail, count necks, mushroom bruschetta and topped it off with a lobster and steak pizza. The highlight was when Kim came out with two huge shrimp for us in addition to the ones we ordered. She thought the shrimp we got looked small (easily U13s) and brought our more to make sure we were pleased. It was a great meal with great service. Job well done once again on the busiest day of the year.

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner on the deck at David's! The special arancini appetizer with brie and chorizo was divine and the lobster rolls with butter were melt in your mouth delicious. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. This was a great way to end a really great trip to Kennebunkport. We'll absolutely go back the next time we are in town.

I attended their soft opening and I was blown away. I was with a group of 4 and we sat at the bar. First off the place has a great decor and relaxed classy feel. The views out the huge wrap around windows are great. Diana the bar manager was our bartender and she is amazing. Prompt service, perfect drinks, and a great smile! The food was to die for. We met chef David and could not compliment him enough. I had great neck clams for an appetizer and the duck sliders! My main course was pepper crusted ahi tuna sushi style with a pasta that had thai peanut sauce! For desert I had a warm chocolate chip cookie! Everything was perfect. My friends had the calamari and lobster ravioli and I tasted both which were equally excellent. So not "officially open" yet however this place was packed and I have a feeling they are going to be the new spot in Kenebunkport!

This place is outstanding! The food is excellent. We had amazing lobster bisque to start. Also you must have the garlic knots (they are with the bread brought to the table). I had lobster ravioli that was amazing. Everyone in our party loved the food.

I have a summer home in KBK and have been to all the restaurants in the area but hadn't yet been to David's and I was so excited. Luckily, since they do not take reservations for parties of 4, we walked right in and were able to get a seat out on the patio overlooking the water. I will make this point short and sweet. The food was excellent. I had the tuna and it was perfect. However, one of my companions had ordered the Haddock w/ Crab that came with white clam cream, roasted garlic-potato, and spinach. When her meal arrived she expressed concern to the waiter that the menu did not specify mashed. When reading "Roasted- Garlic Potato" one does not assume mashed. She was happy to eat the meal but the real problem was the way the server handled her issue. He was very rude and arrogant. I would expect much better service in an establishment of this nature. To be sure that the faux pas was not on our end, I have since asked countless people how they would interpret the menu. No one thought it would be mashed as roasted is a preparation. Bottom line is that they should make that more clear. Side note: I had ordered a wine to have with my meal. He finally got around to bringing it over 20 minutes later after I had finished. Needless to say due to the lack of courteousness I will not be back and will also let others know how poorly we were treated.

I have been here for cocktails a few times but decided to try lunch today. We sat at a high top in the bar and ended up moving to the dining room because no one ever came to the table. Waitress service was prompt but lunch was a disappointment. I had Caeser salad with grilled tuna and it was so over dressed I could barely eat it. My husband had the tuna sushi which was decent but not outstanding. All in all it was underwhelming. I think Ill stick to the cocktails only.

Not as advertised. Over price under cooked steak and mediocre plates. Priced for tourists. Beware if you order meat; seems like the chef doesn't get how to cook meat at the proper temperatures.

David's was highly recommended by some friends and it was our first two to Kennebunkport, so we were excited to give it a try. First off, the location is beautiful. Very scenic spot on the water and we were able to catch the sunset. Our waitress was amazing. Super friendly, helpful and attentive. We ordered cocktails and they were delicious. Started our meal with the mussels which were very good. It was a unique combination of garlic and peepers you don't usually see with mussels, but it worked really well. Our entree's came out quickly. We were barely 1/2 way through the mussels when the entree's arrived. This felt rushed. My wife ordered the lobster ravioli, more of a seafood ravioli and absolutely loved it. I ordered the mixed grill and was disappointed. The "Portland" sirloin was a tough little cut of meat. I ordered the sirloin medium rare and the first order came out medium well. I sent it back and quickly a new plate came out. This was a little better, but still slightly overlooked. The shrimp and scallop skewers were a nice touch. For dessert we tried the Smush In. It was an incredible brownie sundae with Bailey's. Save room for this when you go. It is worth the trip just for the dessert.

The food was good and the drinks were also. Our waitress was very nice. The only reason I gave it 3 stars instead of 4 was the hostess. She was clueless and we almost left w/o bothering to get a table because of her.

We had a beautiful lunch on the deck one beautiful day in July. We were thrilled to find such a nice restaurant with a drop-dead beautiful view that was, frankly, pretty reasonable! I was in the mood to "be bad" and had a burger - which was superb. That dish comes with a choice of fries or fresh fruit. The fruit option was beautiful! My partner had a light and healthy fish dish that was super. The cocktails were cold, fruity and yummy! The valet parking makes this destination a win all around!

We had the most amazing time on New Years Eve! Aside from the incredibly friendly and helpful staff, the food was top notch! Duck sliders, scallops wrapped in bacon, giant shrimp cocktail... It was truly delicious. We even got the chance to toast the new year with David himself. We can't wait to stay at the Boathouse again and enjoy Davids KPT !

This was my first visit to David's, and it won't be the last. There was a long wait, but worth it! We sat at a comfy table, 2 chairs, seated booth. The Sauvignon blanc was tasty and light. We started with some calamari and a small lobster & steak pizza. The calamari was decent. I enjoyed the extras they threw in with the squid. The pizza was amazing - mainly the crust! But my meal is what had me... The open lobster ravioli. Sheets of pasta with lobster, shrimp, scallops and ricotta with a delicious brandy cream. Most amazing meal I've had in the area. I shared the dessert special - chocolate torte with sea salt caramel ice cream.. Great! I will definitely be returning.

My wife and I stopped in to Davids on a Saturday evening and asked if a table was available. The staff said there was a long wait so we asked if bar spaces were available and they kindly checked which there was not. The hostess gave us a card and recommended to call ahead next time. We did the next day and their call ahead system was great. The restaurant is modern and comfortable and they sat us right next to the window which had a nice view. The staff was great and attentive. Wine, bread and yummy garlic knots came out first; this was getting good! My wife and I shared the Tuna Tartare too which was fantastic. We ran out of knots and the waiter offered to get more which we accepted. Wine refills... check... but no knots yet. Then dinner came. The Mixed Grill and Open Face Lobster Ravioli. Everything was cooked to perfection. I'm very picky with how scallops are cooked and they nailed it. The steak was so tender. My wife was full three quarters through the Ravioli, but had to finish it was that good... but still no knots. We gave up on the idea of more yummy knots and opted for dessert. The options are great, better than the standard Creme Brûlée and chocolate cake you find elsewhere. I ordered the Chefs Smooshed Ice Cream (name was something like that) and it was amazing, ice cream, brownie bits, dark chocolate wafer, Kalaua and Baileys; I'd go back to Davids just for this! Although we missed out on our extra knots the food and service at Davids was fantastic. We plan on going back on our next trip to ME and have already recommended Davids to our friends who vacation in Maine!

Tourist trap. It had the worst clam chowder we had in our visit to New England. The lobster roll was ok, but it is rather deceptive. The full size sandwich only means double (or so they say) the lobster, but the same amount of bread! We chose the larger, thinking it would be easier to share because it would be a bigger sandwich. While there is more lobster, the sandwich itself size is the same. It is the most expensive sandwich we have ever purchased. Ambience is very nice. We might have had a new waitress as we asked which way the ocean was because we were watching a boat leave. She didn't know! We found that rather humorous.

My husband & I chose this restaurant for our one child-free meal of our summer vacation. It was the perfect spot for dining on excellent food and enjoying a neat view. Our meals were excellent and the dessert special of blueberry bread pudding was outstanding! The deck was nice, though be sure to bring sunglasses and a hat as shade is scarce (and moved quickly away from our table during lunch).

Beautiful surroundings, awesome ambience and great decor. I know they are new but the service has been mixed. Cocktails have been great, food pretty good, happy hour is awesome in the off season. I will keep trying I know they are very busy which may be why the service has been mixed. Worth the stop while you're in town based on ambience.

Update to my earlier review: they seem to have sorted out the issue with the front of the house. My experience in July of 2014 confirms that they were very gracious and friendly. Great to see how well yelp works! They really got the message!

Fabulous view, horrible service. Went in on a Saturday night for drinks with another couple. After waiting at the semi empty bar for over 10 minutes, we were finally waited on. When we asked to transfer our tab from the bar to a table in the bar area, we were given attitude, with the response" um yeah the tables are part of our area..." Like we all worked there and knew which tables the bartenders also serviced in the restaurant. We were ignored multiple times through out our hour an a half stay, with the bartender forgetting to make out drinks at one point. For being dead at the end of the night, the service should have been more on point. Drinks were actually really made well, but the lack of customer service from the bartenders will result in the four of us not returning for a late night drink again.

  • Tyler S.

I'm giving 2 stars... 1 for the bartender and 1 for the beautiful decor / set up. Other than that. The service sucked and the apps were gross. I was there last weekend for happy hour with some family and we got a nice seat on the deck. The waitress took forever to come over and continued with really slow service the entire time. The bartender was actually reaching out the back window to give us our drinks because she was taking so long. The calamari was wayyyyyy over cooked, you couldn't even taste any actual calamari just batter. This was by far the worst part of our experience...Our bill came and was about 67, we left 80 in cash, 4 20's.. We were walking out through the parking lot and all of a sudden the waitress an another were waving us down and shouting that we didn't cover the bill...She takes a moment, looks down and realizes she has the wrong check and then just says "oh sorry wrong check" and runs away. like WOW come on. RUDE.

Went for dinner on a rainy Tuesday - July 4th week. Not impressed. Had a short wait at the bar for a table for two - bar drink a very light pour of my Ketel-rocks. For dinner ordered some of the small plates - my lobster bisque came "broken" - you know when an emulsion breaks - and you've got oil floating around in the bowl?! Well that was my bisque. Also tried the lobster cakes. Not very flavorful - and mostly filler. My goat cheese salad was just "ok". My partner enjoyed her lobster pasta dish immensely - even taking home the left over sauce. We split the chocolate nut torte dessert - and that was good, but my cappuccino was anything but - a weak coffee with a little milk mixed in - served in a breakfast coffee mug. Really?! Oh did I mention the water was heavily chlorinated?! Experienced that no where else on our dining excursions in and around KPT this particular week. What's up with that?! Pass on this one.

The food in this restaurant was phenomenal and the staff was great. We weren't really hungry but we wanted to check out the restaurant and it was our last night in Maine. We split an order of the duck and got a few drinks at the bar as well. The food is very expensive but it did taste amazing so we think it's worth it. I would also recommend getting a reservation at this restaurant even in the winter time it was pretty full. The other nice part is the complimentary valet parking they offer as parking in Kennebunkport is extremely limited.

    (4)
  • Steven J.

Went last night for Happy Hour, was not disappointed by the food or the prices, everything was excellent. The only problem came with the valet service. In order to park in the David's KPT lot, you need to use their free valet service. This, in and of itself, is not a bad thing. The problem I had was that a wallet I left in the car (hidden in the center console) was opened and a $100 bill was stolen while I was in the restaurant. I realized this when in the car, returning home to Massachusetts, and called the restaurant. I spoke with the GM, Jef Fightmaster, who said that his employees would never steal anything, and essentially said that it was too bad for me. I turned the car around and returned to the restaurant, where I spoke with him in person, again he stated that it was my choice to park in their lot and that he isn't responsible for what his employees do on his property or for what happens to the vehicles in their care. The lack of empathy and attempt to resolve the issue was appalling, and that is what really irks me. To say "too bad for you" to a customer who was wronged by your staff is unacceptable. I called the Kennebunkport police department, and they are launching an investigation into the matter. We will see what this investigation turns up.

I went to David's KPT twice last weekend to take advantage of their daily Happy Hour (a luxory I am not allowed in Massachusetts). My girlfriend and I were really just hoping to have a couple drinks, maybe a snack, and then head over somewhere else for dinner. The first day we were there, we ended up having a lot more food than we thought. We mostly drank some beer ($3.50 drafts), but ordered the steak tartar, potsticks, duck sliders, oysters, and truffle fries. All of the food was very tasty. The all-star was probably the tartar. It was a small bite but loaded with flavor. The service was amazing that day. The crew behind the bar never let someone go without a drink ready, always checked up on us and were very friendly. We had some time to kill before a wedding the following day, so we stopped back over for a little lunch (and late enough to catch Happy Hour again). This time we ordered a jerk chicken pizza off the lunch menu, and a similar scattering of bar bites, but trying the calamari for the first time. The entire place was pretty packed, and the bar was slightly understaffed which caused a back up. We ordered water & the pizza first, but it ended up taking us closer to 20 minutes to actually place a drink order. Service picked up towards the end of the visit, but it definitely wasn't the same as the previous day. A quick note about the duck sliders: They are very good - the second day we ordered them though, they came without the cranberry apple gastrique. That part of the dish added a lot of flavor so it kind of stunk to see if left off the second day. Overall we had a pretty good time. The happy hour deals are good with great food. It appears service can be hit or miss and the kitchen is a little inconsistent. I would definitely come back though - you really can't beat the decor and feel of the restaurant, especially since it's right on the water.

Beautiful location, beautiful inside, food is good, great wines, then why 3 stars? The hostesses are rude, the wait time is ridiculous, and they can not make a mixed drink to save their lives. We have been there many times for the food and outside dining, but we have to take a deep breath when speaking to the teen hostesses. The are unapologetic about the wait and literally shrug you off and giggle if you say that 2 hours is too long to wait. One time the wait was over 2 hours at 9pm, when we said we could not wait, the hostess smirked and sarcastically waved to us with a rude "bye bye"! We could not believe it. Not sure why people put up with that when there are lots of great restaurants in the area. I often wonder if the owner realizes this is going on. It is not a one time thing. Too bad, could be a great place!

Great dinner experience!!! We came here on a Friday night without a reservation and didn't have any issues getting a table. Drinks were delicious, service was friendly/ attentive and the food was delicious! We ordered the lobster roll, clam chowder, baked oysters and open faced lobster "ravioli". Honestly every single one of the dishes was soooo delicious!!! The baked oysters are to die for and the open faced lobster ravioli was a seriously out of this world. I am not sure that this restaurant warrants the one or two star reviews as per other yelpers. Great dining experience!

Went here for happy hour. Food was good and well priced. Giving this a 4 star because my duck sliders were pretty mediocre. When you read " Magret breast, foie gras butter, cranberry apple gastrique" you expect amazing.

david's kpt is a great place with lovely views and delicious food. the menu is not cheap, but honestly worth it for a special night out. the bruschetta appetizer is unique and sooo yummy. i am going to try to recreate it at home. even the garlic knots and dip you get as you're waiting for your meal is awesome. i got the shrimp/scallop skewers....so good. portions are not huge but the food is high quality. atmosphere is wonderful.

Best restaurant in Kennebunkport. That's not a huge statement, but this is an excellent restaurant, and would be considered such in any city or town. Great menu, great setting and great service. Go early, or plan to wait in line for a while to sit. Brought my kids (ages 8 & 10) and they were very pleased with the options as well - both on the adult and kids' menus.

This was my 3rd visit, and the food continues to be excellent. We sat in the bar and sampled several appetizers. The steak tartare was outstanding, as was the tuna tartare and the vegetarian pizza. We also tried the duck sliders, which were tasty but a bit too much bread for the small amount of filling, the mushroom bruschetta, and the pot stickers. Everyone was very happy with the food. That said, the bar service was lackluster at best and at its worst was sloppy or non-existant. There are two bars in this restaurant, one near the front and the other further back in the dining room. We sat out front. When we first arrived the bar was busy but not crazy busy. It took the bartender a good 15 minutes to acknowledge us and get the mess from previous customers cleaned up. From there things picked up a bit; we were given menus and our drink order was taken in a timely manner. Why the drinks were not served all together was a mystery; one of our party had to wait at least 10 minutes longer than the rest of us for a simple martini. We had ordered several apps and were happy with the timing of the first few dishes; however one of our party did not get anything she had ordered and after a good 30 minutes passed we tried to flag down the bartender to see what was going on. This was a futile effort as she was engaged in what appeared to be a personal conversation with a friend who was sitting at the bar and was oblivious to the needs of her other customers. One of our party finally got up and walked to the other end of the bar to get her attention, at which point she admitted she had forgotten to place part of our order. This appeared to be an unfortunate pattern as we noticed her throughout the evening apologizing to many other customers for making mistakes with their food or drink orders. Throughout the night we also heard several customers request wines or liquors that were not carried by the bar; instead of suggesting other options they were simply told "No, we don't have that". The impression one was left with was that the bartender was doing us all a big favor by serving us. While we did have an enjoyable evening, the quality of our experience was definitely impacted by the ineptness of our bartender. One of our party is employed as a bartender nearby at very popular and busy bar & restaurant and was totally appalled by what was going on behind this bar. In a high end, fairly expensive restaurant, this is not what a patron expects nor deserves.

Excellent! The filet mignon in avocado purée with a panzanella salad was delicious! And fried calamari was tasty - a few steps above the usual fried calamari with spicy aioli served elsewhere.

Had a great experience here after losing a reservation someplace else due to a power outage of all things! Had a party of three. We shared the bruschetta app, and all ordered different items. The sushi-like rare tuna was spectacular. Pepper crusted and perfectly cooked. My companions loved their meals. For such a sophisticated place, the prices were better than we anticipated. I highly recommend it and we will be returning for sure.

So I decided to take a little trip to Kennebunkport for the day with my Mom and Niece who was celebrating her birthday. It was beautiful sunny day and we arrived early and requested outside seating. Now were were seated by a table with an umbrella so we indirectly received some shade from said umbrella but it was ungodly sunny and since we are New englanders decided to tough it out and eat with sun in our eyes. The odd thing about there outside seating was, I believe only two tables had umbrellas and at one point the wind literally knocked the umbrella portion over the railing (it basically just turned on its pole and was shading the area over the water). This scared me as I could envision the umbrella near us just sliding down and knocking into us. So the table we were now at which officially had the umbrella created an awkward situation. A party was seated at another table and requested the umbrella table and were told they could not sit there because another party was waiting for that table. Another party then sat themselves and were asked to leave. A third party then sat and got up and moved inside. It was a revolving door of eaters and frankly it was quite annoying. So, but for the fact we were being entertained by a constant stream of diners next to us we were greeted by the waitress who was friendly. We ordered the Clam Chowder. I hate when restaurants take a classic like clam chowder and decide that they can do better and in this case adding bacon and rosemary I believe. The flavors were overwhelming especially when you just want a good cup of chowder. Oh the bread which I forgot to mention was quite good. So my mom and I decided on the 1/2 lobster roll which was $18 (the full lobster roll was $31). It was confusing as it wasn't really 1/2 a sandwich but smaller quantity of meat on the sandwich. The Sandwich consisted of a focacia roll with lobster meat with a dollop of mayo on top like the lobster salad was deconstructed. Again lobster rolls are summer New England classics. It was not what i had in mind when I ordered a lobster roll and was disappointing. My niece decided on a steamed lobster which she was looking forward to all day. So the lobster comes out and 1) NO LOBSTER BIBS (so enjoy the experience of cracking lobster and having lobster juice all over you or perhaps a little melted butter and 2) NO BOWL TO PLACE THE LOBSTER SHELLS (so your options are throw em in the water or put em in the bread basket which we did. Are these items too Plebeian for this fine dining establishment? I was told we could have extra napkins though. I just wasn't impressed and for almost $90 for a lackluster meal with haphazard service I left feeling like I made a bad dining decision. Oh and I find it really annoying being served diet soda when I've ordered regular. I know this is picky but is it really that hard,

Wow, OMG, ats, this place is great. Just left Federal Jack (huge disappointment) and found this place . I saw it from Jack's cold deck and saw this place across the water. The deck here is in the sun, the servers are friendly and supper helpful. Nice Raw Bar with a great menu. The decor is cool, kind of "new Hyannis" makes you feel like you are getting ready to get on your yacht for day day of sailing , without feeling like you don't belong at "Bushwood" (caddyshack reference) Hopefully this place will not turn into a typical tourist trap.

Went for lunch recently, and was impressed by a terrific lunch menu, reasonable prices and chic but comfortable décor. My friend started with the special fresh tomato soup, which was outstanding, then we each had the scallop and shrimp grill - perfectly cooked, with a wonderfully flavorful sauce. For dessert we had a chocolate torte - incredibly rich. Why not 5 stars? The food does warrant it. But the service, while friendly, was a bit rushed, and the server tried to "upsell" at every course, asking if we'd like sparkling water or "just tap" (I know this is ubiquitous now), doing a hard sell on the soup of the day, then at the end of the meal, when told we'd like to split a dessert , he said we really should each get one, and not split. My friend's entree plate was cleared while I was still eating, and as soon as I put down my fork he whisked my plate away. Hopefully, the service will be brought up to a standard that reflects the high quality of the food. But, that said, I would still recommend. We will return to try the outside seating, weather did not cooperate on this first visit.

Wish my maiden voyage had been better. No air conditioning. Bartenders way more interested in talking to each other and fiddling with cash registers than serving the many customers (including me) whose drinks sat empty. Cool airport hotel bar vibe. Friends like it and I'll be back for food but first impression wasn't great.

It was a beautiful fall afternoon and we sat on the patio. The atmosphere was fantastic right in the water. We ordered the tartar salad and clam chowder to start and both were amazing. The salad had a great combination of ingredients with mozzarella and tuna and the chips in top were a great addition for the salty flavor! The chowder was not creamy with plenty of clams and an interesting smoky bacon flavor. Delish! And then came the lobster... As a Cali girl I don't get to eat much fresh lobster and this was great. The only negative was the service. We (thought) we ordered one lobster but the waitress brought out two. I thought we were clear... But we ate everything anyway:)

I have been here twice..first time was great!! Service was wonderful and food great...a bit pricey but overall a great experience. The second time...not so good. Bread and oil never served...ended up asking for it when the meals were served. My salmon was VERY rare and had to wait forever for them to re-cook my salmon. Dessert was great. For the price, not sure that I will return.

On the suggestion of the bartender at our hotel bar, we came here for dinner on our one night in Kennebunkport (and the last night of our honeymoon). We came just after the big rush and they were able to quickly set a table for us. When the hostess asked why we were in town, we told her it was our honeymoon and she really lit up. A manager brought over two complimentary glasses of bubbly just after we were seated, and our waitress was so friendly. The space feels very cool and modern and the crowd all looked like they were having a good time. We had Caesar salads and the 1/2 lobster rolls, which were awesome- and for Maine prices, pretty reasonable! The roll was thick and soft, the lobster was tender and delicious, and the sandwich came with a side of truffle fries which were amazing. The waitress was so nice, checked on us often and offered us dessert on the house to cap off our meal. We tried the daily cheesecake for dessert and cleaned the plate even though we were stuffed. They made the last night of our big trip special, and their generosity was really touching. I would say even if you're not celebrating a big night, I'd still give David's 5 stars. It is upscale without being stuffy, the prices are in line with any nice restaurant we visited in Maine and the service was fantastic.

Don't go here! There are so many great places to dine in Kennebunkport but I would not recommend this one to anyone. I never write reviews but the awful service I received here compelled me to warn others. I waited 25 minutes and didn't even manage to get a glass of water from the servers or eek out a hello. They were too busy talking to one another to serve others and do their job. When I got up to leave since it was obvious they had no intentions of serving my party, I told the hostess that we were never had an opportunity to order. I Barely got an apology, just a "oh were you at the table near the water?" Yes, oddly the tables you chose not to acknowledge. With all the wonderful restaurants and servers in Kennebunkport, save yourself time and money ... Avoid this one.

Went there for the first time in May 2013, soon after it opened. Service was friendly and efficient. Returned yesterday (September 2013) and was severely disappointed. Server was curt and rude. Service was slow. Bartender (with the exception of Sean) was rude and arrogant. Manager was no better. Will not return.

Awful, the hostess lacked customer service and was sarcastic once we asked to be moved from the heat outside to inside. The food though presented well was cold and mediocre. The food and service does not match the decor.

Beware that they do not accept reservations so waiting times on the weekends average over 2 hours. Wonderfully decorated with amazing views. Great food and also a happy hour. Remember to ask what drinks are included for the happy hour as all are not. A very welcome addition to the port. Try eating at the bar since getting a table is nearly impossible

This was my first time visiting David's in KPT. I have always enjoyed the one in portland so I was looking forward to trying it. The atmosphere and view is wonderful but other then that I was not impressed. The service was okay. Nothing amazing and I thought the server was kind of slow and not attentive which I was surprised since it was a slow night. My biggest problem was the food. It was so bland that I had to season all the food at my table and even then it was only okay. The worse was the calamari appetizer which after two bites I couldn't bare to eat anymore because of the bland flavor and greasiness. The warm spinach and bacon salad was boring and flavorless. The salad had a ton of dressing which made everything soggy. My husband got the lobster Mac and cheese. The pasta was a little overlooked and again lacked flavor. I probably won't go there again and just stick with the one in portland. Overall I was disappointed.

Can't understand the low scores? Ate there on a beautiful Saturday night on the deck. Had the special salad and we split a pizza and some of the biggest (and best) shrimp cocktail if ever had outside of Florida. Atmosphere was great. It was certainly the nicet meal I've had in downtown KPT in 10 yrs. PS - drinks were a little weak.

Kennebunkport has a very vibrant dinning scene and David's is a very good example of what's going on there. The restaurant is very nice inside and has a great selection of wines, appetizers, and main courses. The servers are friendly and attentive. The only problem I had with the place is that its really not set up for larger parties. If you are more than 4 adults, this place is not well set up. There is also no place for coat storage. A problem we had on a below zero night.

Horrid dining experience. Though the decor is beautiful, the staff are not knowledgable or professional enough to justify it. First of all, we asked to be seated outside. Quickly we realized it was a bad decision, as it quickly got hot. We asked the waiter if he could open the large fancy umbrella on the porch. He looked non-plused. He said he wasn't sure if be could open it, meaning he needed permission, so he went into ask. He came out frustrated and then attempted to open it, having no idea how. He asked for my help. We could not figure it out so I said we would just move inside. Again, he looked non-plused. He said we'd have to ask the hostess. He actually expected ME to go back to the hostess. Finally, he went to get her and came back saying the hostess was presently seating somebody else and would be back in a minute. I watched her seat two other parties and still she did not return. I got up and asked her why we were waiting so long. She said it would be another few minutes. We waited again. I went back to see her finally and asked her what the hold up was. She still said there were people ahead of us. Then I got mad. I told her we had been waiting for approximately fifteen minutes and it was hot and we wanted to be seated. We all got up to leave and finally she said she would seat us. Incredibly rude. Now for the food: seafood Benedict served at best lukewarm with cold hash browns. The hollandaise sauce had congealed. Waitress service was so-so. Will never go back.

I've been to David's KPT 3 times now and would have given it 4-5 stars, had it not been for my last visit. The first 2 times I went to David's we sat out on the deck and ordered a few drinks and appetizers. I immediately fell in love with the atmosphere, strawberry basil mojito, and duck sliders. As a server myself for several years in both casual and upscale restaurants in Charleston, SC and Boston, I understand how a restaurant runs and can appreciate the need for patience, especially when a new restaurant is working out kinks and when its a busy summer afternoon in Kennebunkport. Our servers both times were lovely, got us our food and drinks in a timely manner, and our visits when off without a hitch. I recently went back to David's this weekend with my Aunt and Uncle, who live within walking distance and are very familiar with the staff and menu. We were so disappointed with our entire experience. We initially sat down on the L-shaped couch for a pre-dinner cocktail and our server hurried our order and seemed annoyed she had to get us drinks. In the mean time we were seated at our table, so when our drinks came she was visible annoyed that we had moved and thought she wasn't going to get our check. Being in the service industry we of course offered to close out our tab with her, which we did and moved along to dinner. Unfortunately, I think we should have stayed with out original server. It being after Labor Day weekend and a chilly September night assumed our service would improve from the hurried summer season at David's, but we were sadly mistaken. The restaurant was still busy inside and fairly busy out on the deck, but it was no excuse for our poor service. Our server started the meal by informing us she would not accept our appetizer order unless we were ready to order everything. I can understand it's harder for the Expo and server to time the meal when everything isn't on the same ticket, but she didn't have to be so blunt about it. Once we were prepared to order our whole meal she reappeared and took the order with a scowl on her face. We started with the duck sliders (of course), truffled fries, caesar salad, and bruscetta, all delicious. For dinner we ordered open-faced lobster ravioli, jerk chicken pizza, lobster roll, and tuna. Everything was wonderful, even the garlic knots and dipping oil they give for bread service. We ordered another round of drinks during our appetizer course, which we then had to ask for during dinner. We also needed an extra plate for sharing, shame on us for asking for that! I was disappointed she never came back to ask how everything was, during either course, and we had to ask for our drinks about 15 minutes after ordering them. Even after the meal she left a bad taste in our mouth when she dropped the check without offering dessert, we asked for a menu, but decided to skip it because we felt rushed. I'm disappointed that my third visit to David's was tainted by such rude service. I will certainly be back to David's, as the food is wonderful, and hope I don't get stuck with bad servers again. Although, I thank those ladies for reminding me to do my job well even on a bad day, because we as servers affect the experiences at a restaurant as much as the food.

I loved the look of this restaurant. It has a very modern, hip look and vibe and yet still feels New England seaside. The reference to Gilligan's Island in the bathroom made me chuckle...but that was all within the first few minutes and the fun stopped there. We arrived just as the restaurant was opening on a weekend around lunch time and asked to sit outside on the deck. We ordered drinks and then realized it was uncomfortably sunny. First we asked for one of the many umbrellas to be put up but our waiter told us "he would need to check" if that could be done. He came back and began struggling with the umbrella and asked us if we could help him. We tried and could not work it either, so we asked to be moved inside. He replied "you will need to speak to the hostess". I asked if HE could please get her. The hostess told us we would need to wait of a few moments. I watched her travel in and out of the restaurant and seat two parties so I got up, went to the front and asked to move...again I was told "you will need to wait". I was furious but we were finally seated inside by the now, very icy hostess. I was ready for a good meal but our food was very sub standard. Eggs and hashbrowns arrived cold.....My lobster roll arrived with crappy potato chips....Later in the day we ate at the famous Clam Shack. Perfect clams. Perfect lemonade. Perfect service. Stay away from this place!

I had great dinner with my wife on the outside deck, which was beautiful. The service was prompt, the garlic bites were delectable, and the lobster roll was plentiful and delicious. Although, I feel like the meat could have been a little warmer, but maybe I'm a lobster roll rookie. Go with the lobster ravioli, which actually has shrimp and scallops as well. We were suggested to this place by a coworker, and it was definitely a great suggestion.

I loved David's! Right on the marina in Kennebunkport, great views, great atmosphere and great service. The food was amazing. Oysters are fresh, truffle fries are to die for, "the meat" pizza was delicious! Sat at the bar and had two great servers - looking forward to going back next time I'm in Kennebunkport!

This is by far one of the best meals that I have had in a very long time. We were up at the beach for the weekend for some fishing. Our fishing charter captain recommend David's and boy are we glad we took his advice. We quickly valet parked, walked right in and sat immediately despite how busy they were (Saturday night). The wait staff is fenominal. Our waitress was promt, got our order in quickly and correctly. The food: unbelievable. We started with the local Maine oysters which were fresh and very clean. I had the blackened sword fish which was tasty and we also shared the open face lobster ravioli. I could go on and but you will have to try it yourself to fully understand.

An excellent location could not over come the horrible service and poorly prepared food. My husband and I went out for our anniversary - but the sever wouldn't even engage in minimal social conversation, so he wouldn't know it was a special night out for us. He was rude and abrupt at best. I was leaning in to talk to my husband while waiting for our entrees to come and he literally dropped my fork and knife on the table in front of me. I ordered a mixed drink and had a glass of water. Our server never refilled my water glass - even when I set it on the edge of the table for 10 minutes. Mark's (our waiter) answers were short, no meal recommendations, and he didn't bother to share the specials with us - he spent a lot of time staring out the window to the tables on the deck (but all of his tables were inside). The food was hit or miss. I had the tomato avocado caprese salad and it was phenomenal, however I ordered the "sushi" tuna as my entree. The tuna was fine, but nothing special. However, the noodles that were part of the entree were horribly over cooked...it was mush on a plate. My husband ordered a steak and the portion was small, but well-cooked. It was very amusing to watch him try to cut it with the butter knife since our server didn't bother to give him a steak knife. It's a shame that the server was so unpleasant - because a little engagement and personality would have made me overlook the problems with the food (or could have easily been fixed). Final thought - if you get seated in Mark's section...ask to move because the food isn't good enough to forgive how unpleasant he is. (I started watching our server towards the end of our meal to see if it was just us and noted he was equally as rude to his other tables, so I think he's just a rude individual by default)

The restaurant location is right on the water overlooking the bay with indoor and outdoor seating. The wait was about 1.2 hours but I'm not going to complain on the wait because the area is flooded with Canadians and your going to wait everywhere. I stuck out like a sore thing in gym shorts and boat shoes as everyone else was dressed to the tee. Got in and sat right down and the waiter took our drink orders and brought them right out. The waiting game continued when the waiter took about 15 minutes to come back and take our orders. Although they were busy, this is a little long in my opinion. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on this because it was busy. Menu prices are on the higher side but David's is considered upscale so it's expected, I ordered the Portland sirloin (27$) medium well and it came with mashed potatoes. When the actual plate came in; in my mind I was like "What is this?". Baby sized steak with 1/3 of a potato mashed up but I said okay I won't judge on appearance. Cut into the steak and it was very well done. If your gonna sell a 27$ steak at least make it a good size if it's going to be cooked bad, I expected a very tasty steak when I saw it was so small. People around have very similar complains on there meat being unevenly cooked. Waitress kept coming to refill our glasses which is a big deal for me especially because it was so busy, I can appreciate good service! Overall: Food 1/5, Service 4/5

The Quick: On the water, very classy and upscale with fantastic 3-6 happy hour everyday. Food and drink specials. The house made truffle chips are addicting, the $8 cheese platter is fantastic, and the truffle steak tartare is mouth watering. Overall home run.

We started off bad waiting for a waitress for 15 minutes. Once we got started the Taunton oysters were fantastic, followed by a mouthwatering Ceasar salad. Our entrees were Portland Sirloin steak with garlic mashed potato and Yellowfin Tuna caught by the owner today. Both entrees get an A+. Steak was perfectly cooked with an savory flavor. The tuna plate was a special of the day and you should hope they have it again. My husband and I loved the experience.

We ended up here based on a suggestion from two women outside Sweet Pea's ice cream in Ogunquit. David's doesn't take reservations so be prepared to wait or eat at the bar. We lucked out with a window table overlooking the bridge, and a beautiful view of the sunset. Ambiance and appearance were perfect. We started with Mussels in garlic sauce and a Cheese Plate sampler. The mussels were a healthy serving and delicious. The cheeses were a great combination of blue, Brie and a New York cheese that was similar to a Romano, all served with a Strawberry Compote that had strong overtones of nutmeg. We both chose seafood for dinner. The lobster ravioli was amazing, with shrimp, lobster and clams in a great sauce. The pepper-seared tuna was a bit heavy on the pepper but the dipping sauce toned it down nicely. After such a great dinner, we weren't going to get dessert but they put a "warm chocolate chip oatmeal cookie" on the menu. I couldn't resist, and I should have. It was over cooked and crunchy instead of soft and gooey, the only bad thing we had all night. The cookie cost them the 5th star.

Came here for happy hour and sat outside on the deck overlooking the water. Beautiful view and great prices on glasses of wine ($6), all draft beers ($4.50) and well drinks ($6 for mixed drinks, $6.50 for rocks and martinis). FYI, they no longer offer the oysters on happy hour, which is why we had originally come here. Still, it was a nice setup and a good spot to relax with a drink by the water.

Ate at the bar. Bartender was excellent, very attentive dispite how busy he was. My wife had the blacken swordfish which was quite good. She swapped out the cold side with mashed potatoes which was a good decision. I had the mixed grill which was very underwelming. Two shrimp, two scallop, and the smallest piece of chewy beef I have ever seen served. My meal was pretty disappointing, but overall experience was ok. Had I chosen better, off the menu, it could have been better.

Beautiful spot right in the heart of downtown. Fantastic views overlooking the inlet harbor. Ice cold oysters served at one of the two bars with capable bartenders and waitstaff. No price break on the oysters here, but its not that kind of place. This is upscale, but with a casual feel. Take a date and enjoy.

Had dinner with my family the other day. We arrived at 5 PM and there was an hour and a half wait for outside, but no wait for inside. Everything we ordered was delicious! The mixed grill and fish and chips were especially good. What was weird though was that the people who were valet parking cars were putting the keys right on the wheels of the cars. I don't usually go to places with valet parking, so maybe I'm wrong and that's normal procedure, but walking past BMWs and Porsches with the keys sitting right there unattended didn't seem safe... I would not feel comfortable valet parking there!

Nice meal with the family tonight. Lots of flavor in the steak and seafood. My son's fries were also excellent. View from the deck was great. Had to wait about 30 minutes for an outside table, but shopped in town while waiting cell-phone notification. No complaints.

Our appetizers arrived after an hour of waiting, which was completely ridiculous. After the food came I experienced the least impressive streak I've ever had. I'm not trying to be a hater, but it was SUPER tough to chew. No steak knife provided. Just a butter knife and gnawing at length to get through the fat. Terrible cut of meat. This was seriously a rough experience, and the wait to get there was excruciating. So many better experiences in Kennebunkport to choose from.

Sat at the bar during happy hour and enjoyed a few dishes such as the duck sliders, smoked scallop cakes (yum!), tuna tartare and lobster roll. Everything was great even though the lobster roll is bit overpriced for what we found elsewhere in town but I suppose you have to cover the overhead somehow. Bill and Brian the bartenders were super attentive and another reason to go back!

Location is great and wine list is pretty good. Tuna tartar was very good. The meat could have been diced smaller, but had bold flavors and was well balanced. The small waffle cut chips were still very crisp; however, more than two small chips were needed for the app. My wife ordered the grilled Portland sirloin which was perfect. Great flavor, seasoning, temperature! The house steak sauce paired with it was fantastic. The "open faced" ravioli was mediocre at best. Why not just make real ravioli?! The noodles were sheets of pasta folded over herbed and seasoned ricotta cheese in a soupy cream broth. Chunks of lobster claw were strewn about in the dish with two unseasoned shrimp and scallops. I would not recommend this dish to anyone. Ravioli is easy to make, just do it right. The chef was trying to reinvent ravioli, but there was nothing exciting about this creation.

The food was pretty good, but expect a wait. Although they have a kids menu, I would not say it is the most kid-likable. The dishes are very upscale, and not something you would expect on a kids menu. The service is often very slow, and they are very strict on their menu offerings. For example, if you ask for a substitution they often say no, or I have to ask the kitchen only to find out that it is not doable for them. Their excuse if always that they can't have a guy in the kitchen get confused during busy hours! You're kidding! The restaurant is very appealing, but the service is not up to par. Also, although it is on the river the view is nothing to write home about from the deck. Would I return, probably not. But give it a try if you so please, everyone has their own opinions.

Bill and Dan are the best bartenders ever! Always come back to this place because of them. Very friendly restaurant. The inside is very up to date love sitti nh at the very back bar.. The food is amazing. I got one of the Pizzas it was very good! And my husband got the Sirloin. Little pricey but was amazing!!!!! You can cut it with a butter knife! Make sure to ask Dan the bar tender for the drink called "Prison Bitch". Amazing!

We have been to David's many times over the past year. The food is great and the views spectacular. They consistently have the worst service from the hostess to the wait staff. The hostess smiles but has no personality. The waitstaff has to be reminded of anything you ask for. At some point the good food will not be enough for me to return.

Love this place, especially happy hour outside. Food is good, but a bit pricey. Service has always been excellent.

Ridiculous double text system that forces you to race to a reservation you may or may not have. Inexperienced waiter and awful raw duck entree served and sent back without so much as an offer for something edible, a manager's concern or even a desert to put in my empty stomach. Not a fan. Classy place with no class.

Three stars at best! 5 stars for the atmosphere and service. 2 stars for the food. Don't have a steak at this place. They have no clue how to cook a steak! Medium rare was well well done. Portions are average to below average.

Great location and the food is pretty good and well priced for the port. Staff is friendly but unseasoned. Menu is basic but has something for everyone.

Great almost Florida feel on the Maine coast Love the atmosphere. Wine is generous. Had the scallop & shrimp skewer perfectly cooked very lightly sauced. Caesar salad was average. Have been many times still love it.

Went here on a whim to meet a friend for dinner. I had heard good things but also try to stay away from the "tourist trap" restaurants. We arrived just in time to get the last table before there was an hour wait. Yay! To start, we didn't have drinks as my friend is expecting so club soda and cranberry kept us hydrated. We each ordered a first course: Farm Salad for her and the Mussels for me. The mussels change daily but were cooked in lots of cream, fennel, leeks, and fresh herbs. Very fresh and full flavors. If I'd had her salad it may have left me desiring a bit more, but she was happy with it. Second course was the lamb special for myself (I went out on a limb here) and the filet mignon with panzanella salad for my friend. The lamb was so much more than I had anticipated. It was perfectly cooked with beautiful english pea puree, carrots, and hand made (in-house) tortellini. I heard the filet was good as well, but couldn't be dragged away from my lamb.... Dessert was a kitchen creation of cardamom panna cotta, braised lemons, candied thyme, blueberry reduction, and white chocolate crumbles. Quite possibly one of the better desserts I've ever had. The server was extremely attentive, despite being very busy, and everything was timed well. Our table was inside, overlooking the deck and the harbor. We also a direct line to catch some glimpses of what was going on in the kitchen and bar area- my favorite. Valet parking is a nice touch, as well- although after waiting for a while to have my car parked (they were slammed!) I eventually found street parking close by.

Fantastic! Great location and ambience. Sat in the dock section and had a great view. Loved the lobster bisque and clam chowder. The bread knots were excellent, and the lobster ravioli was fantastic. Service was great too--very prompt and friendly. We might go back tonight!

Beautiful view and great decor, good food too. But some big problems: first they haven't put up an awning for the season so the sun was blinding for half our party. Very uncomfortable having to wear sunglasses inside. Also, my glass of wine was dirty; it had lipstick on it, and it wasn't my lipstick! When I pointed it out to the waitress she just brought me another one! A nice establishment would be horrified and would offer a free drink as an apology. And finally, we told the waitress we were celebrating my moms birthday. Did she bring a small dessert or even put a candle in the dessert we ordered? Nope. Bad service all around.

Lunch at David's was our favorite meal while we were in Kennebunkport! We sat out on the back deck on a beautiful Saturday and sipped delicious sangria and enjoyed the sun. The garlic knots were awesome! I got the salmon which was flavorful, sweet, and yummy! My husband got the lobster ravioli which he said was the most delicious thing he ate all week. This was a great find that was recommended to us by our hotel staff and several other colleagues of ours that were staying in town as well!

I am a really big fan of David's KPT. I have been here twice since they opened and their food is awesome. I have sat both inside and outside, in the winter and in the summer, and both dinners were fantastic.

Wednesday night-pizza night. $9.99 small vegetarian pizza was fantastic. $5.50 Geary's (Portland, ME) Winter Brew was delicious. Mushroom Pappardelle was mind blowing. Cranberry margarita was perfect. And we paid $15 to split the best caesar salad of our lives and the berry-apple crumble which was scrumptious. The service was quick and attentive, beautiful view of the harbor.

Stopped in for lunch Friday late afternoon with my wife and toddler son. Staff was very accommodating and I like how they all wear Sperrys. We started with a few white sangria which were really good. All the food was great, including my tuna sashimi in the picture. Son got the grill cheese that came on a nice thick bread. My wife got the steak sandwich that to me, tasted great, however a little too much salt in the maranade.

Three out of our four meals were great. Lobster mac and cheese, pepper crusted ahi tuna and braised pork osso buca were all delicious. The sirloin was so tough it couldn't be cut. When a steak knife was requested, our server told us that the restaurant did not have steak knives. The server was snippy all evening. She never asked if anyone wanted another drink and whisked away our leftovers without offering a take home container. She even went so far as to open the check portfolio right in front of us and look inside to make sure we had paid after we told her it was all set. I wish we had left even less of a tip than we did. We will not be back.

We loved the ambiance, the menu, the food, the cocktails, the rolls and the wonderful service from Naomi. Met my parents for lunch and they were very accommodating to my mother's allergies. Such a beautiful deck and view we didn't want to leave. We are thrilled to have stopped here for lunch on this beautiful Sunday afternoon and will surely be back.

For the price we paid the food was just so-so. The shrimp and scallops were smothered in too much lemon and the burger was undercooked. We also got charged for a "miscellaneous food item" which I believe was a side order of vegetables but we were not told beforehand they were extra, the waitress just offered. The waitress herself was not very friendly as well. We had a much better experience at Allison's and Federal Jacks.
