Have been there a couple of times this summer. Both times my wife and I SHARED the club sandwich. It is incredibly good and is plenty enough for us. We bought a dozen assorted doughnuts to go the last time we were there and they were very good too.

Okay so I need to be clear that this is strictly a review of their catering service not the restaurant. I try to be fair in my reviews so I wanted to make sure that fact was clear. The catering is terrible. The food comes and if it is hot they bring nothing to keep it hot. So essentially you have to eat it quick! If you tell them you are feeding 15 people they bring enough food for 14. No extra anything, no seconds. They portion it like a grade school cafeteria! Soda and water come sort of cold and they don't bring ice. The food is decent if you get to eat. Today I didn't. As an instructor, I wanted to make sure the students were fed first. Good thing there is a Subway next door. Oh, and for the money they charge, it is an awful deal. Too bad, because all the restaurant reviews look great, but they'll never see me in there nor will I ever use their catering service again.

Frank's Bake Shop is one of those family owned bakeries that everyone in the area probably grew up with. These businesses are a dying breed with the likes of Dunkin' Donuts and other chains popping up everywhere. But, I love a place that has some history, tradition, and great customer service. Frank's is known for their doughnuts and their daily specials. The donuts are second to none when they come out freshly baked in the morning. The daily specials are very affordable take and bake items such as meatloaf that could feed an entire family. I was lucky enough to come in on a Wednesday to grab a turkey pie that lasted two meals. The flakey crust was amazing and just as good the next day. Scrap spending the entire day cooking the turkey for Thanksgiving this year. Do yourself a favor and just pick up one of the 8 inch turkey pies. The one thing I didn't enjoy was the espresso here. They use Shipwreck Coffee and the latte had either too much milk or the coffee wasn't strong enough. The latte lacked any flavor, but I was enjoying my jelly-filled doughnut too much to complain at the time.

There's something about Frank's that I love and I can't quite put my finger on it. I think it's related to how the shop is run. I love walking in and ordering. I love all the bakery displays. I like sitting down and watching people come in and out. They just do it right as a local business fending off the man. I will usually get a donut and a cocoa, or maybe a day old muffin on sale, nothing fancy but a quality product made with care.

Frank's is a institution in Bangor. Their cakes, doughnuts and tarts are amazing AND they have excellent chicken as turkey pies always in the freezer for take home.

I like to order the club sandwich and then go eat it in the corner so ppl don't judge me while I make love to it with my mouth. Sometimes I feel like I transform into a tyranasauras rex and I don't want to scare off the other customers. When I die I hope I'm reincarnated into a rat that lives in the kitchen. (Don't worry, they don't have rats). Best in Bangor!

I love local, bedrock businesses. Frank's Bake Shop would fit that category, and have been since 1947. I was in Bangor for a funeral. Driving north quite early, by the time we arrived in the Queen City, we were looking for a drive-by breakfast option with a nod to the sweeter side. We found Frank's on Yelp and knew we had to stop. Once we were inside, the smells of pastries, donuts, and other delectable told us we had made a wise choice. Frank's is easy to find; they are up on top of the hill on State Street, headed towards the hospital, with downtown in your rear view mirror. They have plenty of onstreet parking out front, too. Both my wife and I kept it simple. I went with the jelly-filled, which was raspberry, and she selected the glazed donut option. These were heavenly in flavor, obviously homemade, but not overly heavy, either. The jelly-filled was amply infused with a sweet, raspberry filling that was just the right combo of sweet and fruity. Miss Mary's glazed (2 for her) were the bomb, as she let me have a sample. If donuts aren't your thing, Frank's has tarts, coffee rolls, pies, fruit squares, and all manner of other baked goods--they're a bakery!! They also have daily specials like turkey pot pie, spaghetti, and meatloaf to name a few choices off their menu. Another gem that's been around for awhile that I'm just discovering. With places like Frank's and some of Maine's other donut emporiums, I'm done with the chains forever.

You can't drive through Bangor without hearing about Frank's at least a dozen times. It has been a bakery institution in Bangor since 1947 and still maintains the family feel. Need a sugary pick me up? Stop by in the morning for a fresh baked doughnut; hungry for lunch? Try their turkey or chicken pies or one of their deli sandwiches. Husband's birthday? Call a day ahead to have a custom cake made. Need to send cookies with him to work? Drop by in the morning to select some of their freshly made and designed lobsters, moose, birthday or seasonal selections. Their cookies are fabulous and reminded me of my hometown local cookery. I wanted to eat the entire dozen I had purchased in store. Their cakes have the perfect "icing to cake ratio" for those of you who cringe at the thought of too much icing. Their cakes are moist and decadent. You can also pick up pre-made cookie or cake mixes or other small baking supplies ins store as well. Whether you are passing through or staying for good, make sure you make Frank's a part of your Bangor experience.

Frank's is a great place if your family has gluten-free needs. It is a favorite for locals but is a neat place to go for sandwiches, homemade ice cream's, and fresh bake items. The team there is eager to please and the experience overall was great. I would recommend this to my family and friends.

Grew up on Franks Turkey pot pies, my dad would bring one home for supper at least once a month. Great (and cheap) place to get a sandwich on homemade bread, usually handed to you by one of the sweet older ladies on their helpful staff. Please don't come here if you're in a huge rush or are an impatient person...this is a neighborhood bakery and the customers have been coming here for years so service is specialized and staff take their time to please them. Also need to mention the awesome breakfast sandwiches and it's THE place in Bangor for your specialized cakes and freshly baked sweet treats. Only criticism would be to revamp the quality and selection of the coffee...

Had the chance to stop in here for desert. Top notch friendly service from a 65 yr old business started by two brothers. The treats are heaven for a sweet tooth such as mine. Try the cookies and cream rolls.

The bake shop moniker is a misnomer. Yes, they make everything - bagels to wedding cakes. Since I come from the land of the bagels, theirs are OK and I am a hard judge. But they also serve sandwiches (scrambed egg and ham or sausage on a butter roll), coffee (several types) , specialty breads (blueberry is popular, of course 'cause this is Maine) and dessert everything. I was told it has been around a long time and because everything we ate and sampled was delicious, it will be here on my next visit.
