With vegan and gluten free options aplenty available alongside traditionally made bakery fare, this place is a hit! It has a knickknacky vibe similar to that of the paper moon diner in Baltimore, but the kitsch is cute. I came in here the other day for a cupcake and drink with a friend - my pomegranate iced tea was refreshing and tasty, and my cupcake was just delicious. As a baker myself, I wouldn't say that their cupcakes are HOLY GRAIL status or anything - I've had better cupcakes at other bakeries, and even from my own oven (on a good day!) - but they are still delicious, and their flavor combinations are incredibly clever. You've gotta hand it to them, Starry Night is a creative bakery that is certainly worth a visit if you find yourself in westminister!

Hands down the best bakery in town! I don't like typical bakeries and the stuff they produce because it always seems really dry to me. Starry Night is now my go to place for any bakery need. After years of making my own cakes/cupcakes for birthday parties and get togethers, I no longer feel the need to do it myself. I've found someone who does it so much better!

Love the ambience here. It is dark, from the dark walls, but still well lit. Employees are friendly. Haven't had any issues with service. Their specialty coffees are okay. Like other independent coffee shops in the area, it's not my favorite, but I don't come here for coffee. It's all about the baked goods! Their cupcakes, a staple, are decent, not overwhelming. They have unique concoctions and most of them are pretty good. The frostings can be hit or miss, sometimes they taste less like homemade and more like something off a cake at shoppers. But they have a gluten free selection, which is rare for Carroll County--they deserve 5 stars for that alone! I have a groupon that I will be using for my husbands birthday treats, can't beat that!

The cakes look amazing, no doubt about that. The cupcakes don't taste homemade though. I'd be surprised if they didn't come from a box mix and bucket frosting. They have that fake, plain flavor. Not worth $2.50 a piece. Like someone else said, the staff is courteous enough, but certainly not friendly.

Everything we've tried here is excellent (love, love, love the sticky bun!) The coffee is also great (a big plus for us) and the service is always wonderful. Coming here has become our weekly treat since moving to Westminster.

Their specialty cheese cakes are amazing. I love the cannoli flavor and the "turtle" style the best! Sometimes I have gone in to get something for a special occasion and instead of getting one big cake I'll just get several cheese cake bars or cupcakes so then my party can all try something different. The inside of the bakery is decorated and painted so cute! Shannon the owner is so talented and professional and is a great person to have running a small business in town. There is a large parking lot so it's never hard to find a spot.

Starry Night made my wedding cake. We were a little worried about the cake being dry because some of the cupcakes I've had at the Bakery were dry, but this did not turn out to be an issue. Everything was delicious. Our wedding cake experience started out with a complimentary cake tasting. The bakers at Starry Night helped by making suggestions on which cake and filling flavors worked well together. We did not want our cake to be too fancy looking so we picked a simple design. A few weeks before the wedding, I unexpectedly lost my job. The bakers at Starry Night provided options for me to help reduce the cost of my cake. Instead of doing a 3 tier cake, we went with a smaller 2 tier and a half sheet cake. This ended up working out perfectly and we took a large portion of the sheet cake home to enjoy later. It also reduced the cost significantly. I was really impressed by their willingness to work with me to reduce the cost of the cake. They did not have to do it because I had already signed the contract. This is great customer service!

From what realm do the wizards queens behind these cupcakes hail? All nerd-age aside, oh my god the vegan cupcakes here are good. I took a half dozen into my work and the non-vegans exclaimed delight also. I had the chocolate, the red velvet and the vanilla (and there are lemon too, but those were sold out). You get to pick what frosting you want, and there is vegan chocolate ganache that is straight up fudge heaven, and vegan vanilla buttercream that is a pillow for angels to sleep on. This place is a little tricky to find, but for such a gem, who cares that it's a little out of the way? It's not like it's that out of the way - it's just in a cluster of stores off a street. Puh-lease, people who say it's hard to find. And honestly, it feels good to get away from the busy, hectic parking lots of grocery stores and Targets. The service was super friendly, the inside has kickass art all over the walls; it's an eccentric pastry paradise. Try it!

Starry Night recently made a cake and cupcakes for our daughters bridal shower. It was a Wedding dress cake and the cupcakes looked like the bridesmaids dresses. They were absolutly beautiful. Everyone wanted to know who made them. You guys do great work and you should post those pictures on your site. When I posted the shower pictures on Facebook I made sure everyone would know where the cakes came from. Not only did they look teriffic, they tasted amazing. Thanks again. Great work. If I could find a way to post the pictures I took of them I would.

Recently purchased a cake for my Husband with little notice. Left details up to Shannon and she and cake decorator created another masterpiece! Thank you! Also tried their sugar free cupcakes. I have gestational diabetes and quite a treat for a 9 month pregnant lady!!

Will have to go back and try some others but we tried the "Cupcake Wars" flavor and while it had good flavor, it was a bit dry and overly sweet for our tastes.

Starry Night Bakery is a pretty nice coffee house. The outside feel of the place isn't very charming. It's located in a strip mall. The inside is very spacious and relaxing. There are different couches and tables to sit at. I don't recall what kind of music is played, but I do remember thinking that the place was awkwardly silent on a couple of occasions. The smoothies are pretty good. If you ask, they can be made vegan. They almost always have a nice little selection of vegan baked goods, which is rarity in Carroll County, Maryland. Overall, it's a decent place.

I visited this store after hearing rave reviews about this place and after seeing it on Cupcake Wars. Unfortunately, they did not live up to my expectations. The cupcakes I bought (for $2.50 each!) Were a bit dry and stale. The frosting was crusty like they had been sitting out all day! I went back another time and had a cheesecake, which was much better. The employees were courteous, but by no means friendly. The decor is funky and eclectic, which I appreciate most of all. they have open mike nights and those seem fun, but there is very limited seating so when we went there was no place to sit. I have never had any of their drinks so I cannot comment on those. It's just ok, I've definitely been to better coffee shops, but unfortunately none of them are in Westminster. So basically, it's convenient, so it's where I end up when I want a laid back coffee house environment

Made me a decent Americano but I didn't like that they only had a size small or large. Their baked goods are a little pricey but the pumpkin white chocolate muffin I had was excellent. With Starbucks just around the corner though, I'm more likely to head there instead of here.

We needed a last minute cake made for a 40 person party and they nailed it with only 24 hours of warning. We were nervous about the 12 inch square cake being big enough for that many people, but had plenty left over. The cake was moist and delicious. Service was excellent and they have great coffee to boot.

This is the absolute best bakery in the area! From the excellent baked goods, to the quirky decor, everything is great. I have tried multiple flavors of cupcakes from here, and haven't had a bad one yet. The hot chocolate cupcakes and red velvet with chocolate ganache frosting are my favorites. I've taken the cupcakes to parties as well, and they've always been well-received. If you're a coffee fan you need to try a drink from here. The Starry Night drink and the pumpkin spice lattes are both great.

Tried this place out because of a Groupon deal. The signage isn't very good , and even the front door was not labeled or welcoming at all. While I was looking at all of the fancy cupcakes an employee was cleaning the interior of a bakery case by spraying windex directly onto the glass and in the direction of baked goods for sale! I of course chose something out of a different case. I ordered a 12oz latte that allegedly had 4 shots of espresso, but it was not strong at all. Fortunately the baked goods all tasted fine and seemed fresh.

I have gotten several cakes from here and they've always been delicious, but hear me out. The cakes are spectacularly priced and undersized for what they say they serve. I once ordered a custom cake in the shape and flavoring of an eclair and they charged me $65 for it. What it really was, was a cake baked in a rectangular pan, covered in chocolate icing and filled with cream filling. They charged me $65 for a giant turd looking cake and it was probably about 5 inches wide and 9 inches long. I've since stayed away from their fondant and icing work because it's truly uninspiring and mediocre when compared to other cake makers in the area. That being said, the only thing I continue to order from there are their whimsy cakes. They really are adorable and taste good. They hold up well in the fridge and freezer for a number of days. The only down side is that they charge an arm and a leg. Your cake will cost you anywhere between $70 and $150 depending on a (reasonable) size to feed less people than they tell you it will. Overall they make good cakes, have a wide variety of flavors, and if it weren't that they were so damn delicious I wouldn't pay the outrageous prices for them every few years or so.

Starry Night Bakery is, hands down, the BEST place to purchase a cake for special occasions- or to treat yourself with a tasty cupcake. They even have special treats for your four-legged friends! Shannon and her staff are extremely professional and incredibly creative. They will create anything- ANYTHING- for you in cake form to make your event as special as you are. Shannon listens, asks all the right questions and, presto- the most beautiful work of art in cake form you could possibly imagine. I've worked with Starry Night over a number of years and been pleased with every experience from start to finish. Another fantastic aspect of this small business is their support of the Westminster community. Shannon supports local events in the form of donations and participation, generously donating time and products to assure the success of several local non-profits. I will be a customer for life!

Way too much icing on the cakes! Who likes lard and sugar? Is that the only kind of "icing" available up here? Yuck. The staff are also very unfriendly and boring. I tried to have a conversation with the girl ringing me up and I felt like I was talking to a wall.

Had a chocolate eclair and a mini raspberry cheesecake. Eclair was ok but the frosting on top was so thick and heavy that I removed it completely. It was a lot. The mini cheesecake was so overbooked that it was like trying to chew and eat rubber . There was no taste whatsoever. That said the bakery was super cute and looked cozy to hang out in. The young girl that helped me was not pleasant and seemed as if she didn't want to be there to the extent that I felt uncomfortable. I will not be visiting again. Hot mess

Great bakery with an eclectic flair to go with the usual standards. Great coffee too. Prices can be a little steep, but worth it. My fave is the Boston Creme, so thick and high a slice barely fits on a plate! Biggest complaint is they don't make meringue, replacing it with a creme topping instead. It's good but still not meringue. Love supporting local businesses and this place is one of the best in Carroll County!
