Hidden gem! Excellent food. I am never disappointed. Great customer service and friendly staff. Sometimes you do have to wait a little while for your order(not necessarily a bad thing,as the food is cooked when ordered),I suggest calling ahead. If your looking for ribs on a Sunday,I suggest you get the before the church crowd lol.

I recently tried this venue out for brunch. The establishment is located in a plaza that can be easily missed. The inside of the small restaurant was clean and the staff was nice. The food was just Ok. CrabCake Balls: Very Basic ( not much flavor) Chicken&Waffles: The chicken strips were VERY salty. But the waffle was good. Grilled Chicken: Its a new item and it was pretty good but a tad bit salty. Cabbage: Not my cup of tea. Grilled Shrimp: Very Good This restaurant was nothing to rave over but was decent. The prices were fair and inexpensive.

I normally go to a spot called White Corner for breakfast but, since they are closed on Sunday's I decided to try Simply and I was very pleased, I had the best sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich ever!!! The home fries where on point as well. I would recommend

Had the Shrimp n' Grits for the first time today and they were EVERYTHING. My babygirl had Chicken,n' Waffles, she loved them as well. Will be back soon!

This place is a little hidden in plain sight. Just went there this evening and I got the house salad with fried shrimp - DELISH! I also ordered the turkey meatloaf with rice n gravy and cabbage the sides were tasty the meatloaf you may have to doctor up a lil with some seasoning when you get to your destination. Oh yeah, there are a few tables to eat in but the place was too cold for my taste. I will be back to try the wings and I'm really trying to try the house salad they call surf n turf which includes shrimp n lamb chops but the price is $20 so that's for another splurge day ;-)

If you see a good review it's because they know the owner or the owner is writing his own reviews and snapping his own pictures. The place has no heat, but who needs heat when there's snow on the ground right?

I went there all excited about this place i heard about which was suppose to have really good food but was told that I would have to an hour and a half for my order... I have no idea why such a long wait because there were only a couple of people in there. So i left and went to eat elsewhere. I guess I'll never know what the food taste like.

Just stopped by to order dinner. Told that it would be an hour to an hour and a half for CARRY OUT!?? Tried to call in an order and only received voicemail. In time they may be able to manage the demand, but in my Kevin Hart voice, they wasn't ready!

The food was subpar at best. I called in my order at 11:00 a.m., was told that it would be twenty minutes, when I arrive to pick it up I literally waited for over thirty minutes to the point where I had to ask the cashier who appeared to be very unassuming and casual "would you mind checking on my food" she came back and said its going to be a few more minutes; long story short my cold breakfast was sitting on the other side of the counter waiting to be bagged. Needless to say l will not be returning, time and punctuality is not priority to them.

I found this place by looking on Yelp. I ride by this place often but didn't know it exist. The breakfast was really good. I'm definitely going to bring my kids to try for themselves.

My family ordered breakfast from here and it was really good. Their pancakes are really dense and filling. Their omelets are fluffy and cheesy. And their sausage and waffles are terrific.

A girlfriend of mines recommend this place to me. The smothered chicken wings are to die for, the rice with gravy, and the cabbage is good. The seafood combination is not what I expected. So I will not be ordering that again. The filet fish is fresh and good. I didn't care too much for the Mac & Cheese. There gilled shrimp house sald is very good. Customer service was good and the staff is very friendly. Very clean restaurant. The location of the store is in the cut and can be very easily missed if you are not familiar with the Suitland area. I will return again and again.

Not sure how this hidden gem has stayed off my radar for 2 years, but glad I finally found it. I drove right by it because the strip mall it's located in lies perpendicular to Suitland Road so it was hard to see it. Don't judge a book by it's cover. Discrete looking from the outside, but on the inside this is a nice place. A friendly guy sitting at the table next to us gave us some hot tips on the menu. I ordered his favorite which was the fried chicken tender sub. I also had a small order of wings which were solid. The sub was amazing. My wife had chicken and waffles and that was also a home run. Prices were great and everyone was friendly. Another great lunch spot for my Suitland rotation.

Heard this place had good reviews and decided to give it a try. First I wanted to start by stating that the food is delicious and made to order! One person in our party thoroughly enjoyed his food. Waffles were hot and delicious and so was the chicken (chicken breast strips). Even though I don't want to state the next part of this review, I find it necessary to tell future patrons of this restaurant: When we first drove up, it did not seem like it was open - even though it was late morning - the" Open" sign was only indication that the place was open for business. Once we got inside, it was extremely cold. We sat down to eat and had to sit near the heating lamps placed strategically in the place. When food came out - we were served with to-go containers. I would have preferred to eat off of a plate, drink from a real glass and use real silverware. I would return, since the food was so good, however would only get food to-go in the future.

Sign states that they close at 8 pm, but apparently the kitchen closes earlier. Might want to indicate that on your website! Guess we won't be giving the food a try!

This was my 2nd visit and it will probably be my last. While their jerk chicken tenders are probably their signature dish, the collard greens were horrid. They taste as if they are straight from a can with a gallon of vinegar and no other seasoning added. The Mac-n-cheese? Well let's just say I've had better! For me, greens and Mac are "must-get- rights" of any place calling itself a "SOUL" food spot. I so wish they were better because the location is a convenient after church pickup for Sunday dinner, but I rather take the ride to Carolina Kitchen or cook my own mean greens! Simply missing too much!

Good food, reasonable prices, friendly staff. Finally soul food that is just as good as mine...it comes in handy on days when I don't feel like cooking. Fried fish, shrimp, catfish, crab cakes, cabbage, rice and gravy, mac and cheese, potato salad, waffles, omelets...the list goes on. And all are very delicious!

I had the chicken and waffles and my fiance had the french toast. Everything was great. Good customer service. The homemade lemonade and the sweet tea were great also. Would go there again.

I came from Northern Virginia to visit this place about a month ago. very clean, good customer service, the girl at the counter had a lot of knowledge about the menu. I had the jerk chicken salad, my friend had the grilled tilapia and we share the fried shrimp appetizer. prices are reasonable and it was definitely worth the drive. I totally recommend it.

In surprised they have low reviews. They are pretty good the only reason I give it four stars is because the location in my opinion is the worse. However a there food is quite delicious. I've tried quiet a bit I only did not like the whiting but I don't like whiting anywhere I go. I seem to always go with a group. So I get to try all different stuff. The best thing I've ever tasted was the Jerk Chicken salad.... So good. I try to get them during lunch specials which are five bucks where I usually get the old bay wings with a side of fries and drink. But all in all there a really great positive business. So even if the food was not good I would still support but it is good and always cook to order!

Not sure if i came on a bad day but the food was extremely salty! Fried cabbage was tasteless and it taste like chinese cabbage if that makes sense. Crab balls were only salty as well....nothing really special about this place and unfortunately we won't be back sad to say.....

A friend gave me some food from this place. I went by but at the time I didn't know the hours and plan to visit it again before this week is out. I called but didn't get an answer. I had the crab balls, shrimp & chicken wings. the crab was a winner. I'll update this by Sunday.

This place needs an updated review ..it deserves more than the three stars ... I only really get one thing and that's because it's that good I don't want anything else lol. The bumpin shrimp and a side of fries ... The shrimp are a nice, decent size. You can tell they are always fresh! The seasoning is just right, fried to perfection! The kicker is the sauce! I have no clue what's in this sauce but it's awesome and bumps up the shrimp. They offer other foods to satisfy any soul food craving. The owner seems to be sooo friendly and a positive light for the community. Try this spot! Support local grown businesses

I have only been once but the service was good. The food is cooked to order so it's not fast food. The owner is nice and makes sure your order is hot and fresh. Overall I am curious to try other items on the menu.

I am going to do a good, bad and down right ugly review. GOOD: the bumpin shrimp was fantastic! I am picky so I expected grilled shrimp it was breaded but great and the sauce topping was the kicker. Rice and gravy was nice and hot and also tasty. BAD: the neighborhood. I did not expect to go into an industrial area. It is in the far right back area and I was scared we were going to get held up in the restaurant. DO NOT go hungry cause you will be waiting over 30 mins or more for your food. Order over the phone first then go to eat. They have a few tables inside. No table services. Order at the counter and wait and wait and wait. DOWN RIGHT UGLY: the fried chicken was not cleaned and had hair!! It was hot but way under cooked. See photos. The collard greens were over seasoned. My pressure is sky high. The cole slaw was also over seasoned. I ended by tossing most of my food away. I will not be spending my money there again folks. Sad conclusion and disappointed.

The place was ICE COLD. All of the employees were walking around with their coats on. The cook was cooking with his coat on with his hood over his head. I ordered the crab balls, shrimp, and chicken. The Crab Balls were AWFUL, they taste and smell like AMMONIA when I took the first bite. I told the person working behind the counter about the nasty food. All she could do is give me a blank stare like it wasn't her problem. That food was so nasty I even called the PG Health Department because I hope no one get sick. I will never go back.

Shirley V. I visited this establishment based on a review that was aired on Channel 5 TV. My 3 cousins and I have a luncheon date each month. We each try to select a speciall place. This place is the worst. We never order food because when we walked in it was so cold and that indicated to us no hot water. This place should be closed down. We will never go there again. IT IS THE WORST.

I moved to the area 4 years ago from Texas and came from a family of good cooks, so I'm a lil crititcal with restaurants who consider themselves "soul food". But I will be fair as possible...& Now for the good... The restaurant was clean, cool and with up to date decore. The tea and lemonade mix was good, But no free refills if dining in. The shrimp on my friends po boy was also good. I noticed a lot of people ordering the jerk chicken tenders. Must be the go to item. Too bad I didn't ... Speaking of bad... I ordered the crab po boy, but couldn't finish because the crab balls were big, WAY too salty and with a lot of filling and too many pieces of shell. Ugh. I was expecting the bread to be toasted. Instead it was cold and doughy. And for 14 dollars... Disappointed. My friend ordered smothered pork chops to go and instead of a roll, they gave her a HALF of a slice of bread. WTF lol . And the side Mac N Cheese was bland. You have to get the Mac n Cheese right at ANY soulfood restaurant. The dessert .... A slice of Duncan Hines lemon cake with Duncan Hines icing. So much for home made. :-/ Will I return? Doubt it. They really need to step their game up first. I would love to be able to support a black owned business.

I visited this place for lunch TODAY and it was the worst ever! For starters, when we entered the restaurant the temperature outside was about 35 degrees. The temperature inside was below that. I asked why is it so cold and the young lady behind the counter said we are waiting to get our heat fixed (while she sat with a space heater in front of her face). I ordered the sampler which had chicken, shrimp, crab balls and hushpuppies. Chicken and shrimp was edible, but the crab balls had the smell and taste of ammonia. I could not finish 1 crab ball. Had to throw it all away. I do not recommend, nor will I ever return. Whoever owns this place would do their business some justice by ensuring your customers are comfortable 1st and then making sure that your product (food) is edible. NEVER WILL RETURN!

I have ordered several dinners and my favorite is the turkey wing dinner it's enough for 2 ppl the turkey is seasoned perfectly and the Mac and cheese and greens are tasty.. Perfect place to go for a soul food dinner call in advance to place your order!!!

I just moved to the area from NJ & I've been searching for a good Soulfood restaurant. This place was recommended to me. The collard greens were greatttt. The mac & cheese could have been a little cheesier & I had a lot of burnt pieces. There were also way too many bones in the fish. I couldn't bite into it, I had to pull it apart. But you did get a lot of food for your money. I would give it another try, but definitely won't get the fish again.
