We've been back a handful of times in the past month and have been pleasantly surprised with the service. Not sure if they are hiring better or we are just getting better servers. All prompt and friendly. Food is still pretty good. Ordered carry out one night and that was also very good. The fried pickles even survived the trip home in a good state.

As was said before in other reviews my wife and I waited what seemed like forever for our food. We both got burgers so it was nothing that should take too long. The service was just horrendous and this wasn't the first time this happened either. Despite the bad service the food is pretty good and they do give good size portions. The drinks are of course great. I continue coming back to the Green Turtle, the location is great and the food is good. I just prepare myself for the bad service.

I did not even make it in this place. I go to the one in Towson every now and then and it is alright. I was shocked when the bouncer thug at the front door asked us all for $3 each early on Saturday night. I could understand that if they had a band playing, world famous DJ, or if it was located in the middle of nowhere and could get away with it. But lets get real. There are about 30 decent/similar bars within walking distance, all with no cover. Plus, many people like to crawl and have a couple beers at each spot. If I am going to go in to a place and spend money, to be charged a trivial $3 is stupid, insulting and not worth my time. We moved on.

I have been here several times in the past year and I keep getting disappointed. The service is ok, but the food is overpriced and low quality. The veggie wrap contained no fresh veggies and was full of mayonnaise. I was asked if I wanted to substitute fries for chips and didn't realize that it cost me $3 to do so. Our bill came to about $50 for a party of 3 with appetizers and drinks, and it wasn't even that good! My husband had a crab melt and it tasted terrible. I won't be returning any time soon.

We dined on the patio on a quiet Wednesday night. Service: Slow, but friendly. We had our 2 year old with us, which makes us a little more high maintenance than most. Atmosphere: The patio is really nice. The flies were a bit out of control and bothersome, but that's part of dining outdoors. Food: The southwest chicken salad was good. Nothing special, but satisfying and fresh. Watch out for the pico de gallo. It is a bit spicy (in a good way for me). We started with the pretzels. They were tasty, but nothing I couldn't get from a grocery store. The 'cheese' was just nasty. Everyone else seemed to be enjoying their meals, but no wow factor here. The price is average. We had a family pay for our appetizers and first round of drinks when we dined. I'm looking forward to 'paying it forward'.

The atmosphere is loud but fun, place is clean but nice. However, I always leave disappointed with the food. The menu selection isn't the problem. Everything is dry, over cooked. Last time I had the chicken quesadilla. The chicken was over cooked, the shell was over toasted. It had the moisture equivalent of a cracker. The chicken tenders are not too good mostly breaking and over cooked. My girls ate one each. I try to like it there because it is convenient but food isn't consistent except for being overlooked.

The review that states that The Greene Turtle (fix the spelling kids!) is "OK" sums it up perfectly. I have a friend that lives nearby and I've been here three times - once just for drinks, and twice for a late dinner and drinks. Beer options here are typical of Maryland bars, and almost identical to the nearby Two Rivers. You have the typical NASCAR tap options, plus the usual imports (Guinness, Bass I think), Sam Adams and selections from two of the area's top craft breweries - Clipper/Heavy Seas (Loose Cannon) and Flying Dog (options have varied here, including their pumpkin ale and Raging Bitch). They also have Fat Tire, but the one time I ordered it there it tasted a bit off. It's not the greatest beer selection, but there's at least a couple of options that should suit the palette of beer snobs. Food offering is typical casual sports bar/pub fare. My friend frequently gets the Fleet Street Chicken - chicken breast topped with lump crabmeat. I've had the black & bleu shrimp salad and the fish tacos ... both were acceptable but unmemorable. Service does seem to be lacking here. On my first visit for dinner, I had to grab a manager in order to get served, and when the bartender realized it was her job to handle our table as well, she didn't seem thrilled about it, as if we were troubling her by taking her away from the bar. Second visit was during more of a "prime time" and the server was much nicer, although not always prompt and did not know immediately their on-tap beer selection. (Given that it's so small I'd expect every server to know what they have.) Overall, this is a decent place to grab a drink and a quick casual bite, and I'll continue to stop here if I need to kill some time waiting for my friend to get off of work. But if you're going out just for dinner, or looking for beer options, you can do better elsewhere.

Last trip was disappointing. Football fans who just screamed at each other well before the games even started and annoyed the wait staff by not ordering anything and moving all around and being general asshats sort of ruined it. Also the food was just average.

Bottom Line: Good drinks, ok food, decent service. First and foremost, The Green Turtle is a bar. They have some delicious shots, fun mixed drinks and a decent selection of beers. I can't speak to their wine offerings. This particular location is a decent size. Both the bar and the dining room are a reasonable size. Also, they have a nice large, covered patio out back that is quite enjoyable during good weather. I find the food at The Green Turtle to be average bar food. I wouldn't come here for dinner but I am totally on board for coming here to get buzzed. The beer selection is decent and to mix it up, Pineapple Upside-down Cake shots are yummy. Also, the new 64 oz. Hell-in-a-Shell mixed drink is fun but might knock you, and at least three of your friends (as required by Maryland law), off your a$s. Service in the bar is always good. Overall, TGT in Pasadena is a good enough time that I'll keep coming back here to quaff beer.

Draft beer compressor was broken; menu advertised a Monday-Friday happy hour, but apparently they don't actually honor the happy hour "on Wednesdays;" they were out of the first three bottled beers I tried to order (even though I chose them off of their computer printed list); and then I was charged for one of the one of the beers I ordered and they didn't actually have in stock. Had one overpriced beer and got the hell outta there without actually ordering the food I'd intended to order when I walked in. Yikes.

When you close at 1 AM, you should probably have hostesses at 10:15 PM to seat people. We waited up at the front counter for about ten minutes with no sign of a hostess. When we finally ventured into the restaurant (Thinking perhaps it may be seat yourself, even though there's no sign at the front saying so), we couldn't even find a waitress or waiter to talk to! There were about 30-40 people there, you would think they could at least have one employee walking around. Finally, after looking around, and lingering around the bar area looking for perhaps a bartender, we left out. If you're just looking for food in Pasadena, do yourself a favor and head over to Two Rivers or Texas Roadhouse!

UPDATE: Its been over a year since my first visit and some things have changed: -The service has improved. I am unsure if it was just the first several months of getting a team together -- or whatever; but, the location has definitely changed for the better. Overall the food (ticket times) are turning around a lot faster than before. This making the dining experience better since there is no extended wait for just a simple burger. Also, the music has gotten a lot better. I don't frequent here enough to have heard every artist play; however, in the last several months in which I have each artist get's better than the last. 4 stars.

Been here a few times, my buddy loves it and goes every week. Went last night and the food was good. I ate mussels which were good but a little pricey, $10.99/lb. Then I ate a dessert, monkey bread, recommended by our bartender and that shit was ridiculously good. I could've got diabetes and it would've been worth it. Then I ate the chicken tenders which I've had before and they were delicious. I ordered the hog hammers to go which I've had before also, but they brought it out to eat there and my buddy destroyed them. The hog hammers are divine. Meat just falls right off the bone and the sauce is fantastic. Service was good as usual, although we are turning into regulars which probably helps. Tons of tvs with sports and the tables have little tvs to watch what you want. I've only been to the bar area and the patio outside so I can't attest to the table service. The outside patio has a bar and tvs as well as heat and tables. Plenty of parking also. Def going again.

WARNING: If you are from out of town this place has crazy rules about drivers license format! I am from NC and have a vertical license, and they REFUSED to serve me! I am over the legal drinking age, have a valid license that doesn't expire for 6 years! This is the most ridiculous rule I have ever heard of!! Also they have RUDE MANAGEMENT! Other members of the staff were even shocked that they wouldn't serve me & agreed that it was ridiculous! Our party of 11 (all 21+) took our business elsewhere to a sports bar down the road called Glory Days, friendly staff who had no problem accommodating a VALID LICENSE!

We do enjoy coming here for reasonably priced good food. The atmosphere is a bit loud at times but the servers are very accommodating. Burgers are usually overcooked. Salads are plentiful and good. Wings are ok - decent but not the best I ever had.

The place is okay. It's a nice building, lots of seating inside (booths and tables), bar seating (tables and the bar) and outdoor seating. The wait on the weekends is not really worth it.. 45 minutes for the Greene Turtle? No thanks. The food is okay. Burgers and wings are alright. I've had better but I've also had worse. They do have good wing specials on their wing night, so hit those up if you can! I do like their flatbreads though. Good choices and the turkey one is super yummy. They have trivia and happy hour specials if you're there during the right times and they also do a lot of fundraising for schools/sports teams in the area. Wait staff can be hit or miss (sometimes you get someone really friendly, and sometimes not so much) but generally you can be in and out quickly. Lots and lots of TVs, though getting them to change what is on can be somewhat of a pain. Looking for a nice dinner, you might want to look elsewhere. Looking for a place to watch the game or hang out after work? You found a good place to do it.

Don't ever go here starving as you will have to wait for what seems like forever to get your food. The waiters/waitresses are disorganized and make you seem like you are bothering them by dining here. I have been to this location about 3 times and swear I won't return every. The food is okay.

I went here when they first opened and it was awful. Very disorganzied and slow, not to mention the food was horrible. I am glad to say i finally went back today andthey have improved greaty. The food came out in a timely manor. The service was attentive and the food tasted fine. It is still a chain so the food isn't amazing or anything but you know what you are getting into before you go to one of these places. Big bonus was the fact that today had 44% off if you mentioned the score of the superbowl. You cant beat 44% off!!

    (4)
  • Christine H.

Can't really complain. The food was decent and they had great mixed drinks. It's not crazy expensive and there at TVs to watch the games. Plus it wasn't super packed in there either which is a good thing considering I cant stand crowds.

  • George D.

The food is mediocre and the staff is incompetent and uncaring. We waited an hour before checking why they hadn't called us for a table but they'd called others who came in later. They claimed they'd paged us, but the pager hadn't gone off. Nor had they checked for us. (We were sitting right around the corner from the hostess.) Nor did they test the pager before putting it back in the rack. Obviously they knew they hadn't really paged the right number. The insult was that they acted like it was our fault. The waitress had the good grace to apologize, where the hostesses had not. She told us that the manager would come out and speak with us, but she never did. I think that's indicative of the concern the place has for customers. The hostesses are just following the example set by the manager. The blue cheese burger was made with lousy blue cheese dressing. It tasted like artificial blue cheese. The medium rare burger was over-cooked. My wife's crab melt was overloaded with Old Bay. The waitress tried, but nobody else did. There are better places in the area. Don't bother with this one.

Went last week only to be dragged into a tinyboppers dramma from the hostess as I asked not to sit accross from her friends who had run into me as I sat waiting to be seated.I may add they came in right after us and her freind the hostess sat them first? The hostess then perceeded to tell her friend and expected me to sit there while all her friends looked over the booth edge to see .. really I'm not in HIghschool I don't want this dramma so I told the manager and she then told me she told her to sit us there. So I told her we were leaving .... this was the first and last time I will ever step into a green turtle. they can keep the tinybopper hostess and all her friends I will go where there are adults serving and seating you and not children. I have two at home to take care of I don't go out to take care of other peoples children!
