I feel every time I travel to this area for dinner it's pouring down rain. Got here about 5:30 on a Tuesday and the place was empty. Fine by me! There was a sweet gentleman at the bar that greeted and sat me immediately. I was the first to arrive so I settled in. The menu is extensive, with many of the usual suspects on the menu. They also have a sushi menu. They had the most interesting thing on a special, sushi nachos. If I hadn't had just had sushi and wanted Chinese, I would have tried it. Someone try them and let me know how they are. We ordered hot tea, a General Tso's and a Shitake Chicken. I asked the waitress to bring my sauce on the side. Which I'm glad I did, because I always like to control how much goes onto my steamed portion. The sauce wasn't that great, goopy without a lot of flavor. The General Tso's tasted good though although I only had a bite. We also ordered two spring rolls. These were my favorite part! VERY flavorful. Normally I opt for egg rolls vs spring but these had just the right amount of filling. Service was lacking, our waitress was very... cold. She didn't' check on us just came to take our order and bring our food/bill. She almost seemed angry at us which made us uncomfortable. I saw more people serve others as we were leaving and the place filled up. There's even a picture of Pat Sajak so clearly, he's a fan. All in all, the food is average but the place is cozy. I'm not from that area so I'm not sure if there are better options but I'd give them another shot.

This place is good and the portions are huge so I usually split or have leftovers. The decor is interesting. It kind of reminds me of other Asian places that try hard. Like it tried hard at one point and now looks dated. The servers are very efficient but are not going to kiss your ass (and considering some of the stupid people I've heard there I don't blame them).

I'm not a Chinese food fanatic, but I'm with people who were really hungry and at that time, Chinese was the only one that is open. It was still a long wait even though the restaurant was not too crowded. The food was okay; nobody got stomach hurt.

My kids and I are vegetarian. We ordered the avocado and cucumber rolls, and the rolls were good. The service was good but I prefer when servers smile. My hubby ordered the east west duck and he seemed to enjoy it. The decor definitely needs a renovation as it looked very '90s.

What a feast! Everyone in the party really enjoyed their meal. We are coming back for sure.

I have to say I have tried to avoid this place because of it's name alone. I was scared of fusion but don't judge it by it's name or strip mall location. I thought I was in for some crappy Chinese takeout but was pleasantly surprised. My husband got the General Tso's Chicken which was the juiciest breast meat ever. I usually don't like it but it was so good!! The Cantonese chow fun would gave been perfect if not for the not so fresh noodles but I still gobbled it up. The prices are fair and with the restaurant.com gift certificate it was definitely worth it. The staff is very attentive and helpful. I will make this our go to for Cantonese cooking in the area.

Do not let the name or location confuse you. This is my go to Chinese / Fusion take out when I am back at my parents house. We have been eating here for years and I have not found chinese takeout anywhere else that stacks up to the quality of East West Bistro Kung Pao Shrimp are always spicy and well sauced. Shrimp taste fresh and cooked perfectly. One of my favorites. Beef Lo Mein is an excellent dish and has better flavor than other places. Also much less greasy than some other cheaper chinese places. General Tso's and Orange chicken are both wonderful too. Large juicy pieces of breast meat chicken. Both are always properly flavored and sauced. Crispy Beef is a favorite of my fathers and also does not disappoint. Ask for extra brown sauce on the side. The prices and portions at East West Bistro are reasonable and fair. The quality of the food they serve is higher than most other chinese establishments in the area. If you are looking for a massive plate of food for $9 you will be disappointed and think the prices are high. If you want some of the best chinese food you will ever eat, you will be thrilled. I have never dined in and always gotten carry-out.

Amazing! They have the freshest and most tantalizing Chinese food- even better than San Francisco! The service is doting and the restaurant is pleasant and clean. I enjoy impressing family and friends with E.W. Bistro.

Two stars for atmosphere and service which were great but the food was disappointing. It did not have too much flavor except my thai style curry noodles which were soaked in Old Bay. I know we are in Maryland and people love Old Bay but it did not work on Asian dish and I would have never expected it to be used in Asian food. Hot and sour soup was just OK, nothing memorable.

Best Chinese food ever! Everything is always so fresh and cooked perfect! I gave it 4 stars because it is a bit pricey.

Wow, I guess we'll have to try it again... our food was just ordinary, although we had been told the place was good from trusted and beloved friends. We even threw away the leftovers. Guess we'll give it ONE more chance.

Tempura veggie appetizer was excellent! Food was good, BUT my wife's orange chicken wasn't really very orange and even though I ordered extra spicy, the food was mild. Service was VERY slow - not sure why. Would give them another try.

I am a vegetarian and my choices at an Asian restaurant often comes down to the same few dishes. So, it's refreshing to encounter something different. I enjoyed the Braised Bean Curd, which had a delightful flavor. I wish the dish was slightly hotter when served. I was with a large group during the middle of the lunch rush, so I make allowances for that. The price was extremely reasonable for the amount of food received. I was very appreciative of a reasonable portion size. It was not overly large but neither was the cost. It's about time we got back to normal-size rather than super-size dishes! Oh, I ordered a pot of the hot tea. It was the best tea I've ever had at a restaurant! I drink tea every day, so I know what I'm talking about. :D I'll need to come back to the restaurant to see if my dish is served a little bit hotter. If so, I will upgrade my review to 5 stars.

Great place to sit down or carry out for Chinese food. Eating in is preferred since there awaits a fancy cloth napkin experience, and a nice dinner environment. Pretty good food too, its way better than typical #2 Chinese kind of places in the area. Also the place has a tiny friendly bar which serves alcohol, and they offer sushi if you like that.

My new, favorite go to place for Chinese! Very relaxing atmosphere, but classy enough for a treat in a romantic date night ambience. We've raved about everything we've gotten here. You won't be disappointed!

The restaurant could be cleaned up a little bit... I saw alot of junk laying around (i.e. stacks of paperwork, vacuum) that really should be out of customer view. But the food was excellent! I had a crab and asparagus soup that I haven't seen on a menu elsewhere. It was sooo good! Will be back for that soup.

I was really disappointed on my visit yesterday to this restaurant. It was my first time, and as soon as I walked in, the decor seemed nice, and I saw a man (later found out he was the owner) behind the sushi bar (which seated no people at the moment. I took a carry out menu and stood there for a while, waiting for someone to take my carryout order. After about 5 minutes, the owner (Albert) himself came to help me. I ordered a whole peking duck, kung po shrimp, and hot & crispy beef. After I ordered, a lady came from the kitchen and told him that they were out of duck, which is understandable because I understand that it's a long process to prepare the duck. I ended up ordering the honey sesame chicken instead. However, I wish the owner had known about what was no longer available on the menu. I had recently acquired a $25 gift card for this restaurant, and the fine print/requirements only told me that I needed a $45 minimum to use the gift card. When I asked Albert if I could use it for my order, he said "no. only for dining in." That also was a huge letdown because it did not specify that requirement on the gift card. He then told me it would be about a 15-20 minute wait and he went back to his sushi bar. The biggest disappointment about this trip was that after about 20 minutes, a lady came out with a carry out bag and left it on one of the tables. She told me that my order would be out shortly. However, after another 10 minutes later, I looked up to see Albert check the bag and then he brought it up to me, telling me it was mine. I didn't think twice to ask if it was mine because there were other people going in and out picking up from phone orders. The food itself was average. I agree with the other reviews that the portions were a bit small for the price. There was not a lot of shrimp in the kung po shrimp, and it was very salty. (I tend to season my food a lot, but even this was too much for me...) I guess one positive was that I did enjoy the crispy beef dish. I exchanged my gift card for somewhere else because I don't think I would return. Maybe they just had a bad day... I'm not too sure.

We enjoyed East West. The decor was ok overall. Our service was great although it wasn't busy at the time we went. The food is what stood out the best. All of the sushi we got was solid and we liked the sunshine roll we got as well. The sushi nachos plate was one of the best appetizers I've gotten in a Chinese/Japanese resturant...very tasty and unique. We also got Lo Mein which was fresh and flavorful. They have a good variety and selection. We will be back.

The point: Food was good but the plates were small for the price!!! I came here with my husband and it was my first time. The place offers sushi and Chinese. We got the dragon and sunshine roll. The sunshine roll was good but the avocados on it weren't fresh since it was brown so I took those off. The dragon roll had too much sauce on it which I had to scrap off as well. We got the Cantonese chow fun and ma pa tofu. They were good but the plates were small especially for the price! Probably wouldn't come back since it's too expensive for what you get.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
