Checked out this place last night. I'm from Chicago, so it is a little hard to impress me with pizza out here. With that being said I gave this place a shot. The pizza wasn't bad but their sauce was way to acidic. They need to cut it with sugar or something. The crust could use some flavor also. Overall not bad , but due to the sauce and my hatred for heartburn I most likely won't be back.

First time trying this place. Reasonably priced. Was take out and ready right on time. Loads of toppings. Homemade crust. Got the godfather and a large cheese pizza. Huge pieces. So big i usually eat 4 pieces but could barely get 2 down. Would def recommend! No military discount, but that's OK. Its always good to ask.

Service can be slow. The pizza is pretty good, as well as the spaghetti. This is a great place if you are looking for a "quick-stop" Italian restaurant.

The pizzas here are tasty and fresh. We love the Margherita (with great flavors of garlic, fresh basil - even in the winter - and creamy mozzarella), Grandma's pizza with a touch of smokiness and their veggie pizza which is loaded so high you have to use a fork to eat it. Their house salad has great greens and romaine and the house dressing is tasty and unique. I only wish they had a coal fired oven to add that special taste. The carry out line can get long but it's with it!

The guys running 1978 are Legit Italian, I'm pretty sure. The garlic knots are super tasty! The pizza is good, but GREASYYYY! It's pretty limp when you lift it up, but it's tasty! The wings that we had were way overcooked. **Updated 9/2015** We've since ordered out and dined in a few more times and they really are great for pizza! It's truly reminiscent of NYC pizza pies! Still greasy, but super good!

Excellent pizza. I have one piece of pizza a month and I try to buy it here! I feel like this business is the best place for pizza and Italian dishes. I heard all their food is excellent.

It's a sad day.. 1978 has already jumped the shark. Do NOT order from here if Ciro isn't working. You will get the leavings and horribly overcooked pizza. The guy in the ball cap who works the front can not be any more rude. Ignores customers, my wife and I flip a coin to see who has to call because we're afraid he's going to answer. It was fun while it lasted... RIP 1978

Best pizza in the area. The ingredients are fresh and well proportioned and the crust is crispy enough to hold together well. If you want the cheapest, just go to Little Caesars or some such and don't bitch about the prices here. You get what you pay for.

uuuuuummmmm... Im not sure where to start. Except :-( , it just wasnt what I was expecting. I guess that's what I get for having expectations. Right? I had read some reviews here but also lots folks from Facebook, pumped this place up. Ok! So let get to the nitty! gritty! Tiny pizza joint in the Dirty Dena, looked promising but I was disapointed. I ordered 3 slices of pizza to go . I had intended on sharing with my honey. I got 2 pep and 1 margherita . I love authentic new york style pizza... thin crust and thin layer of sauce. So where it went bad for me it could be better for you. The crust is way to thick and heavy, the sauce is was toooo much on the peperoni. the other pizza that I ordered was NOT I repeat NOT a margherita. YUCKoooo it was so much . it had clumps of cheese not fresh mozerella + a garlicky white sauce ewe. Maybe, just maybe they gave me the wrong pizza. Another thing they put all my pizza in one small box stacked on top one another separeted with wax paper. Hot + wax paper+ 15 minute ride home = a hot damn mess.

I was somewhat hesitant to enter this business on Yelp simply because I selfishly didn't want it to get too busy and interfere with my enjoyment! I have only had a select few things on the menu; however those things have been fantastic and long overdue for this area. The pizza is truly great. High quality ingredients are where it's at. Good quality tomato sauce with fresh basil (yes fresh, not dried) really makes it exceptional. The owner takes pride in his product and it shows. Also, the garlic knots are a must if you're in the mood for a garlicky, buttery, carbo-delicous experience. I've had a few of the salads and they're good, but not exceptional. They're pretty much what you would expect from a place like this. I haven't tried any of the pasta dishes mainly because I tend to be a pizza junky so if I'm planning on a visit to 1978 NY Pizza I usually get pizza. Oh, and the calzone/stromboli offerings are very good as well. It's all about the sauce.

The lunch special at 1978 can't be beat. For 5.99 you get: slice of pie, salad, and a soda. I had a slice of the White Pizza. It was the best White Pizza I have ever had.

i ate at this place. the pizza behind the glass looked old and disgusting so we got subs. they were disgusting as well! i wouldn't recommend this place. we shouldn't have even paid for the garbage they served us! also the employees were rude and stared at us the whole time and no thank you when we were leaving.

Friendly customer service and interesting menu. Tried the meat lovers and margarita pizza slice. They were really tasty! The dough could have been saltier but overall liked everything! The shop is small but clean and enjoyed the art. Would like to try some of the subs next time!

I was on a quest for the best NY style pizza in, and around Baltimore. Out of the many recommendations on Facebook, this place struck my curiosity the most. On my first visit the owner hooked me up with a few of his signature garlic rolls (knots) along with my slice of meat lover's and slice of Hawaiian. Everything was ON POINT! Make this place a priority if you've never been. You won't be disappointed!!

Lots of different options for dinner. Please keep in mind we didn't try the pizza but heard great things. I ordered chicken wings and a Greek salad. The wings were nice and crunchy. I like them cooked a little longer. We ordered my daughter the chicken parmesan. It was huge!! If you have two kiddos, they can share. It was good, I had a few bites. My husband ordered the supreme cheese steak. The bread was delish. It tasted so fresh. Great sandwich. Prices were very reasonable. We will be returning to try the pizza and the highly recommended garlic knots. Great family owned business.

Family owned pizza place. Such a great staff very warm and inviting. Excellent food and so much to chose from. Pizza, Cold Cuts, Pastas, Calzones, Sandwiches, Fries and their addictive Garlic Knots. Everything made from scratch. Made that day. Hot out of the oven. You can carry out or dine in. Nice little hidden place in Pasadena Maryland.

AS A CHEF&foodie,I appreciate great food made from scratch. My focal point was on the sub rolls great flour& old school baking techniques, will always turnout amazing bread. It elevated my sub experience. I will be back in a week. Normally I run to philly,pa just to get cheesesteak, but this runs 2nd best.

Love this place. Cold cut, pizza, garlic knots is some of the best I've had anywhere. Great little sub shop I. Pasadena

I like how this place tries, but it still falls short on a few things. The plain cheese slice I ordered had cheese getting ready to slide off. Therefore, the sauce to cheese ratio could have used less sauce. I also ordered a chicken parmesan hero (sub). The bread was too large for the components within the sandwich (cheese and chicken). It was also kind of lazily put together - the marinara didn't have any depth in flavor, and the cheese hadn't melted to seep into the crevices of the pieces of chicken. The cheese was still one glob - perhaps if I went in later rather than when they opened, this may have been different? I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

I received 5 star service and quality from the moment I entered this restaurant . The owner asked if it was my first time there and with my reply of yes he offered me an order of the garlic knots!!! Let me just say they are delicious . I was uncertain about what I wanted for lunch but I knew it would be from here. How could one not return such kindness! I ordered a cheesesteak. He asked me to take a seat and brought the food out to me. I was prepared to pay and he said "pay after you are done" wow!!! It's a small restaurant but there is truly nothing small about the quality of food or the service. Go there and eat well!!! Bon Appetit'

1978 Pizza simply has the best pizza you will find in the Pasadena area. My husband, son and I love to get a large cheese pizza on Friday nights. The price is excellent and the quality of the food is impeccable. We've also enjoyed subs and appetizers from 1978 and we absolutely love their fresh baked bread. The gentlemen that run this establishment have excellent customer service.

I must update my review from a few days ago, from my most recent experience. After my last experience, I had high exceptions about ordering my favorite toppings on a pizza from here, I just wish I really wasn't [that] disappointed. My favorite pizza has a combination of thinly sliced Italian sausage, green peppers and mushrooms ( it might be a little strange for some people, but it's nothing too outside the norm). At $1.59 for each ingredient I was pleasantly surprised when I got my pizza and it was loaded with a ton of stuff, awesome value once again. Here's the rub (lol), when you went to pick a slice up it was worst than the BP oil spill under the WHOLE pizza. It was nearly impossible to pick up because everything slide right off. The amount of grease was disgusting and i could barley eat one piece. I think I'll be thinking twice about ordering my favorite pizza from here; as for the other pizza I have had it was good and IMO some of the best pizza in the area, until I had that disaster.

This is the best pizza is Pasadena. My family and I have pizza on Wednesday nights and at 1978, it's wing Wednesday. You get free wings with the pizza, which my husband loves! He gets the Chesapeake wings and we order a cheese or pepperoni pizza. Both are very good. We have also ordered the garlic knots, Mediterranean salad, and mozzarella sticks on several occasions and it's all good. The service is always great, even when it's busy. Orders are ready in 15 minutes. 1978 will continue to get my business.

This place is amazing! I had the fettuccini alfredo which was excellent. Both the garlic bread and garlic knots were the best that I've ever had. The service was fast and the owner was super nice. I would definitely go back and highly recommend it!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
