    I really want to love McFaul's. Not only is it close by, it stands out in an area full of chain restaurants and dining rooms that could double as retirement homes. I love what management is going for, the space itself is great, with ample outdoor seating and a lively bar. The beer list is great and the menu is varied enough to offer lots of imaginative dishes without being too cluttered. But...my experiences there are hit or miss. Some dishes are spot on, others leave me wanting and scratching my head over why it was so pricey. I think its a great spot for drinks & bites with friends or a quick bite with the family, but I wouldn't make it my destination for a romantic meal out.

    Outstanding service. Particularly Bryan (sp?) who always remembers your drink order, even if it's been weeks since your last visit. Good food. Great atmosphere. Only downside is that it's busy most of the time, but that's to be expected given that it is a great place. Oh. And the ketchup... Definitely need to switch to Heinz or similar.

    What a treat. This place is tucked away in a beautiful wooded setting. If you can find it you will enjoy it. Casual atmosphere but top notch food. Many different choices and price ranges. I can't wait to return.

    Dinner was a very good dining experience. Sitting outside on the deck was pleasant despite the traffic noise. Menu was varied but did have a strong focus on seafood. Soft shell crab sandwich was perfect with large tomatoes and delicious housemate mayo. I had the avocado salad and seafood boat entree. Both were excellent although the boat's portion was a small. One scallop split into 2 pieces and a few jumbo shrimp. The best dish was the tuna tartare. Large chunks of ahi tuna over a bed of drawer salad and a spicy soy-sirachi sauce. Just an excellent dish. As good as the food was, the service could have been better. Server took too long to take our order. Never really checked in or stopped by. Since our table was by the waiter station, she didn't come to our table but instead reach over to give us our check. For a family dinner with young kids it was a good experience and would recommend based on food

    We had dinner here this weekend and really enjoyed our meal. The food was great and this would have been a higher review if the music in the dining room were a little quieter and if our server had been a little more focused. To give him credit, though, he tried hard but seemed to get flustered when his station filled quickly. Overall he did well, but took a long time to bring drink refills and waters. Our party had several appetizers that were huge and really yummy. The cheese plate had a great selection of cheeses and salami and the crab tater tots were relish! Our entrees ended up being sandwiches because we filled up on apps. We'll go back but will skip the appetizers because I really want to try the grilled rockfish, as it sounded really good.

    For those of you who have eaten here when it was called Sanders Corners Restaurant...please be advised: It's nothing like it was! (and that's a great thing). The menu has completely changed...more tasty, upscale options (not just fried sandwiches). I had teriyaki salmon with jasmine rice and asparagus that was out of this world! My ceasar salad was great too! My dining companions had a burger and Sheppard's Pie (both of which also got great reviews!) I found the service to be attentive but not overbearing, the food great, and I hear there is outside dining as well (which we didn't partake of....but I'm definitely going back and will next time!). It's a little out of the way....but well worth the trip if you're interested in trying something different!

    Absolutely love this place. The bar is nice, but you can always have a super nice dinner if you'd like! The servers are all very nice, and their selection of mix drinks is awesome. I wish they'd have a better selection of wine though, however, it's okay because it's not necessarily "fine dining." Think of it more as an upscale-casual restaurant! The food is delicious and it looks great on the plate! Even their pizza is delicious! I would highly recommend going here if you haven't yet. But be careful, it gets busy very quickly because of the locals!

    What a great spot! We had dinner here on Wednesday (1/2 priced bottle of wine night) and loved everything. We started with the cheese plate, which was HUGE for the price. I got a delicious salmon entree and my fiance got the crab cakes. Both came with asparagus which was delicious! We can't wait to come back here again.

    I just went for happy hour on Friday with some work people. Great atmosphere, great deck bar with a tv was perfect since it just got warm. I have to say the pizza is really good at McFauls. Wings were average. There aren't many food specials for happy hour and drinks are a dollar off so happy hour pricing isn't anything great but if you don't care about that then you'll have a good time with good food.

    My first visit here was on St. Paddy's Day weekend. I sat on the heated outdoor deck and enjoyed some delicious appetizers, split a sandwhich with my husband and imbibed in a green Guinness or two. Everything was delicious and the fish pate was exceptional. Had a great time and I'm sure we'll be back.

    Visited the restaurant for lunch during football games on Sunday for a group birthday lunch. Most everyone got sandwiches and a few got appetizers. Everything was prepared and presented superbly. Portions were large and food was excellent. Often with large portions, you try to hide poor food - definitely not the case here!! One member of the group got a pork shank entree which was enormous - could have been shared by 2 people. The restaurant is definitely broken up in different rooms which they seem to use as a good thing. The bar area is great with large screen TVs, high top tables, plenty of bar stools and good sound for the TVs (not so loud that you can not talk to the people you came with). The sound does not really migrate into the other "dining" room areas which is good even though they have TVs in the other rooms. I am looking forward to visiting the restaurant again when the weather is nice so I can enjoy the spacious deck. Definitely recommend this restaurant for the food, the atmosphere, and all around good service.

    Went for a get together with 4 other friends I hadn't seen in awhile so we were all excited. I chose round table off to the side near the front door instead of out on the porch because it was very hot today and they were calling for bad storms. I thought we'd be cool. Needless to say it was so incredibly hot we were all miserable. To the point sweat was dripping down my legs. We asked the server nicely about it and we were told the building had a very old roof with poor insulation but they were finally working on it soon. We even asked if they had any fans it was so hot but nothing. Then server takes drink orders and when he returns with the round tray full of tall glass drinks, 4 being RED sangria, he drops the entire tray and all right at our table. He spilled red sangria on my friends, in her purse & phone, on my friend's pants and shoes and glass everywhere. All he could say was he guesses he didn't have the balance like he thought, but didn't seem overly apologetic or concerned about where all the red drinks landed. A different guy came over to clean. My friend handed him my phone with the light on it and she began helping sweep up all the glass. They had to get up out of the way while the big mess got cleaned. We understand things happen, but no manager came over to apologize and to our shock and surprise, you'd think we'd at least got the new round comped??! Well...nope!! And we were a $167 check +tip was $200! We couldn't believe it. I woulda been mortified had I spilled that and probably would have apologized a million times over. In all, it was an awfully uncomfortable experience. I had 2 drinks, Cobb salad w/lobster & part of a $2 happy hour discounted special crab dip & it cost me $45!! I had been here before and like normal, the people are great. Previously I had a great dinner & drinks here. Even brought out of town family here. Tonight was just bad and none of my other friends had ever been here. I'm not thinking they're coming back now. Shame.

    Great all around. If I suggest one time to visit, make sure it's comfortable outside. They have a wonderful deck, and usually live music. The chef likes to incorporate fresh local ingredients, so the menu is ever evolving. Great game day deals as well at the bar. Top this with good service, in a great backdrop, and it's 5 stars.     We spent an incredible evening at McFaul's Ironhourse Tavern last Saturday. The weather was perfect, so we sat outside on the deck. Our party of 8 was there celebrating a birthday and the waitress made sure our glasses were filled and kept the food coming. I found the service to be layed back and attentive....the perfect combination for a restaurant / bar / tavern. I think we ordered every appetizer on the menu and it was all delicious. There is something for every palate (pizza, hummus, rock fish bites, chicken tenders, ahi tuna, etc). In addition to dining, the large deck has a bar area with a TV. The owner came over several times to check on us which was a nice touch. McFaul's Ironhorse Tavern is our new favorite place to meet up with our friends in the Baltimore area. We cannot wait to return. If you are reading this review because you are headed that way.... enjoy!

    Went there for a light dinner and ordered the "Fish and Chips". It was very, very salty, but I ordered it. When the server brought my check, he noticed that I had only taken about two bits. When I let him know that the fish was salty , he immediately took back the check. He returned with the Fish and Chips removed from my bill. That was a very nice class act and they will get me on a return visit. Ask for Server "Steve". He knew how to describe every dish.

    Had an early dinner here prior to an evening appointment. With our early arrival parking was not an issue, as there were probably only around a dozen-fifteen other patrons. We opted to eat outside on the deck, which has fairly nice views of Cromwell Valley Park and Gunpowder Falls State Park (not to mention the motorcycles and cars that seem to enjoy gunning the accelerator and zooming up Loch Raven Drive!). Any concerns we had about the place becoming fancified were sufficiently quashed by the plastic tables and chairs out on the covered deck! What we saw of the inside was pretty attractive, however, though not at all fancy-stuffy. We shared a small seasonal salad, which was quite good, with its strawberry slices, spinach leaf, goat (or was it Feta?) cheese crumbles, almond slivers, red onion, little orange tomatoes, and strawberry dressing that was reminiscent of a cold/chilled strawberry soup. Wifey got the lobster roll sandwich, which is all lobster (about the amount of a good sized lobster tail!), and not chunks mixed with mayo and other stuff. It came on a folded piece of bread that was alas a tad soggy, and accompanied by melted butter. I opted for the filet tip sandwich, which came on a nice, fresh sesame roll with some greens, a tomato slice, some roasted red peppers and fried onions, and a "manchego cheese and roasted garlic dijon spread" that looked a tad like wasabil and was quite yummy... a little tangy and a little bit of a kick. Both sandwiches came with seasoned housemade chips that are also quite good. Service was plenty attentive, and I was very pleased to see a fairly good number of quality craft ales on tap and in bottles. Now if they'd only get a cask ale engine or have cask ale firkin nights!!! Each beer was a buck off usual prices, thanks to happy hour. The missing star is a result of many dishes being a bit pricey, particularly given that sandwiches only come with chips. If I could score in tenths, I'd probably make it around a 4.2 or 4.3. We'll be back!

    Such a welcome replacement to the space that was formerly Sander's Corner. We've been here THREE times since it opened and have had a GREAT experience each and every time. For starters, the renovations have made a huge difference in the atmosphere. It feels alive, vital, youthful and fun. The bar was packed, drinks were tasty/interesting, and service was spot-on. We tend to favor the bar area, but we've also sat in the front which seems to be a little quieter. The menu is diverse and interesting and the food is prepared right and delivered promptly. If you like interesting food pairings, you'll be happy, and if you like a more classic America fare, they have that also. We haven't had a bad server yet. I'm surprised to see so many lackluster reviews because we're picky about food quality and service and haven't had an issue with either. For a new place, they clearly have the staff to handle the changing crowds and seem to have less of a learning curve of other new establishments. We'll be back, again and again. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

    2nd time here since they opened... Our waitress was awesome and the service was great. She knew the menu well and was able to make recommendations. We were able to try the Fried Green tomatoes and they were good. They def are fried (could have been a little bit more flash fried) but don't get me wrong they tasted pretty darn good. We had the oyster poor boy sliders and rockfish bites. The rockfish bites are awesome, I highly recommend them. My only complaint is I wish that they gave you a few more bites (I think you only get a few strips) but they were fantastic and the oyster poor boy was good. I love the outdoor bar area (the bartender are all super nice) and it is perfect for hanging out on a Friday night and having a few drinks!

    Been meaning to try this place for a while now and boy am I glad I finally did! Went in on a Sunday and sat at the bar with one of my girlfriends. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that this place has a raw bar with a huge variety of oysters. I love me some raw oysters and living in Harford County, the pickins are slim. Bartender Jeremy was great! He told us that all of the food was prepared fresh and hardly anything is frozen ahead of time, which makes sense because the food took about 25-30 minutes to come out....TOTALLY FINE! Food this good is worth the small wait. We got the deconstructed tuna and the lobster mac and cheese. I can't wait to go back and check out the outdoor bar once the weather warms up!

    We visited Mcfauls as part of Baltimore County Restaurant Week - the food and service were both wonderful and the prices for the restaurant week were a great value. The cheesecake was especially delicious for dessert. While normal prices are not cheap, the food is worth it. We were able to watch the Raven's game on a big screen on the wall, but the rest of the decor is simple and pleasant (not a sports bar environment, although the bar section was more boisterous if that's more your style).

    Decent food, some of which is a bit expensive, but it's no worse than what similar downtown restaurants will charge. Seafood & fish entrees are standouts. Beautiful setting, too. I'm glad to see that this place is such an improvement over its predecessor, Sanders' Corner, which held on for years as a mediocre food joint. (I myself hadn't eaten there since the late 1990's when I was served a batch of partially cooked chicken tenders. Bleh.) McFaul's loses a star, however, for the uneven service. This place employs a *lot* of people (sometimes the staff to customer ratio is 3:1). The staff's first priority, however, seems to be either socializing among themselves or watching whatever game is playing on the TV's at the bar. Their second priority is wiping down tables, prepping the raw oyster bar, washing glassware, and walking back and forth through the dining areas. Actual service is pretty low on the totem pole. Every time I've eaten here, the staff goes through all the above before making eye-contact with me, and then their reaction is always, "Oh, did you want something?" Um yes, I was hoping to get some lunch/dinner! I would come here far more often if it weren't for the service.

    We had dinner at McFaul's this week. They have an extensive bar selection, but we found it funny that although there was a mirror on the wall advertising Kilkenny Ale, it was no where to be found behind the bar! They get a fail on the iced tea, though. I prefer brewed iced tea, and what they serve is out of the gun - YUCK! To me, that is what I expect to find at a fast food joint, not at an upscale, casual dining place. I was tempted to order a hot tea and a glass of ice! Hubby was pleased with the selection of scotches and bourbons. For food, we started with the fried mozzarella and the chicken tenders. The fried mozzarella was very tasty, but the marinara sauce needs work. It tasted like spaghetti sauce to me, and lacked the chunkiness and depth that you usually find in a marinara. On the other hand, the chicken tenders were great! Obviously homemade and very tasty. We ordered the crab pizza and the fish tacos for our main course. The pizza crust was very good, but I felt like the topping lacked flavor. Maybe a bit of tomato sauce and some gruyere cheese would compliment the pizza. It needed more flavor and maybe a some creaminess. The fish tacos were good, but also could have used more sauce to add some flavor. We were hesitant on dessert (there were only 3 choices), but finally decided on the Key Lime pie, and we were not disappointed! It was very tart, but tasty! Definitley worth going back for! Service was mostly attentive. We sat at the bar, and were there through shift change. The first bartender we had was obviously experienced and friendly. The second bartender was also friendly, but obviously has not been doing this long. They were in the weeds often, but always bounced back with a smile! I found it curious that the person manning the oyster bar stood behind the bar for almost the entire time we were there with a blank stare on their face, without much to do. Occasionally, they would add more ice to the bar, or perhaps clear a plate or two, but the majority of the time (90%), they stood still with nothing to do! Seemed like a waste of a paycheck to me! We are looking forward to going back, and seeing how they progress.

    Good food, good atmosphere! Went on a Tuesday night for dinner. Our waiter, Steve, was great. We had the fish bites and Maryland crab soup,both were very tasty. Enjoyed the crab cake sandwich & chicken sandwich. Overall pleasant experience. We will be coming back.

    Wanted to check out the Tavern having passed by a few times since the opening. We were pleased with the valet parking as it is a tough spot to park. Our Hostess Molly was pleasant and quickly seated us without a reservation on a Friday night. The waitress was also attentive without being over the top. The deep fried Rockfish appetizer was very good. Does anything deep fried ever taste bad? The entrees were ok, Mahi Mahi Fish Tacos and a Panini. The only negative was being seated in the side room, very noisy and a bit drafty. Next time we will try the main dining room for a little more ambiance. Willing to give it another try.

    Was excited that a new place was opening up. Went with my wife and another couple last week. Unfortunately the entire evening was a disappointment. The good news is the place looks great and we sat on the back deck which was really nice. The food is another story. Ordered the wings, I figured that's a bar staple and a good yard stick to measure. They came out barely covered in any sauce. Basically it was just a bunch of flavorless fried chicken wings. I had also ordered the filet tip sandwich which sounded great on the menu. Too bad it didn't taste as good. I guess the one positive was that the meat was tender. Other than that it had no flavor at all. I couldn't taste any of the ingredients listed in the description. Basically tasted like meat on a bun. I'm certainly not an overly picky person so they had to really go out of their way to fall short. Just seems like nothing was seasoned right or had any sauce or anything. Lastly, we were there on a slow night and were still enjoying drinks around 10:30 when the waitress came up to our table and said can I get your check for you? I've never had that happen in any place before. It was basically a nice way of saying, we want to go home early and you're keeping us here. Not exactly the best way of getting repeat business. I'll give it another shot sometime in the future to see if they get any better but as of now it's a very rocky start.

    We live in the city but were introduced to this place meeting friends from the county after taking our daughter to the Towson Merritt pool. Now it's a stop after every trip. Normally a late afternoon visit, so we recommend the sandwiches and apps. Dinner entrees look good as well but haven't tried any yet. Also, best kids chicken tenders and applesauce we've had to date.

    Thank you for the response. The valet told me at the ( just about empty ) back lot that the only available parking was across the street on the small lot, which was full. Some friends of mine have left when they saw valet, so I'll let them know about the option.

    Went there for Restaurant Week and it was very tasty. Loved the feel of the place, the staff and the food. I just wish that my restaurant week dessert was bigger. The size of the rest of the portions was massive, so why skimp on the ice cream? The chimichurri steak was perfectly done, as was the asparagus. Nice place.

    Hmmm. Where to begin. So we go there for a Father's Day Brunch. Made reservations and they were understanding that we were 3 minutes late due to traffic, so there's a plus . . . the only plus. First thing, drinks. Most ordered sodas, two ordered iced tea. Sodas were flat. When questioned about it, the wait staff said it was fine to them, then when pressed, stood firm saying it was fizzy when it was poured and they don't know why it was flat. Check the Co2 cans. Then two of our party order burgers and three of us order the Eggs Benedict Chesapeake (meaning crab meat instead of ham), supposedly one of the best items on their menu (and one of the priciest). I also ordered a side of white toast. 40 minutes later the food arrives. Hollandaise sauce appeared and tasted like butter that had old bay sprinkled in it, a gumball size portion of crab scattered around the tip of an egg "puff". When you cut into that egg, instead of a nice, fluid poached egg, you have hard yellow yolk that is in that spongy, chalky stage. Now a Benedict Egg is not the easiest to make, but if they are saying its one of their signatures, then get it right. English muffins were hard. The side of hash browns were a mix of greasy and burnt. The toast, when I snapped it in half, and I mean literally snapped, it was so hard it shattered into 8 pieces across the table. Plus when it was delivered, no spreads of any kind (butter, jelly, etc). My fiancee did think the fired Green Tomatoes were good so i will mention that in fairness. Now couple this bad food and drink service with the ambiance. We sat outside on the patio, which does give you a slightly unobstructed view of the Gunpowder River . . . punctuated with a steady stream of people blasting by on the motorcycles, which appears to be a pastime because it happened more than 15 times. But at least outside, the strong scent of spilled beer, liquor and what I can only describe as vinegar wasn't as strong. Bottom line to me is while the staff seemed like nice people, I will not be going back there and I will not recommend this joint to anyone I know.

    Great spot, with a really good crowd. I've not been that there wasn't a good crew of imbibers in there, the food is creative and tasty, the deck is nice. No 5 stars because the parking is a bit of a mess on a crowded night, but that's the only draw back.

    Although a great menu, they have unfortunately fallen prey to food for the masses. The beer is really cold so that helped a lot! DON'T EAT JUST DRINK! We tried the place 10 months ago, probably wont' go back again - 3rd and done.

    I was visiting from Boston and we ended up here. I had been here many years ago before they remodeled and rebranded. We were pleasantly surprised and loved it. The atmosphere is very lively, the waitstaff was great and the food was really good. I had the Turkey Pot Pie and it was spectacular. (And I wouldn't normally order anything like pot pie - just not usually my thing.) Loaded with turkey, moist, seasoned to perfection. Loved it. My sister had the pork shank and it too was very moist and fell off the bone. My brother had the Butcher's Secret Steak which was a bit chewy, but the waiter warned him of that. Still - it was tasty and he enjoyed it. Don't get the crab soup though - lots of crab in it - but in general it didn't have any flavor. I would definitely return here, wish there was something like that near me in Massachusetts.

    We tried Mcfauls Iron Horse Tavern today for lunch and were not disappointed. The food was awesome. We sat out on the patio/outdoor deck, which was really nice and was screened in. I got the salmon BLT with fries. The plates come with chips or pasta but you can substitute fries for a dollar more. They originally brought it out with chips but as they gave it to me they said the fires were coming so it wasn't a problems. I tried the chips and they were actually good and homemade. Most places that serve chips as a side usually suck but there were awesome and so were the fries. The ketchup they use tastes homemade and is sweet, better than bottled ketchup. The salmon BLT was DELICIOUS! you must use the citrus aoili it comes with! My boyfriend got the create your own sandwich (choices are burger, chicken, or fish of the day). He got the fish of the day which was mahi mahi. It was kind of expensive because everything you might want added onto the sandwich was 1/2/3 dollars extra plus the fish of the day was at market price. His total sandwich came to 19.50 and he only got cheese and avocado on it, but it was good. We also got a dozen steamed clams for $10 and they were awesome. Our total bill for 2 sandwiches and an appetizer was around $45. Kind of pricey but reasonable for the seafood and large portions and awesome taste. The food did take a little while to come out though. I will be going back because this place is awesome!

    I just finished brunch at McFauls... We showed up right at 10 am and were the first people in... We enjoyed a gorgeous day on the deck (not a fan of the plastic seating) and had grapefruit crushes and screw drivers ;). My friend and I shared the shrimp and grits which had great flavor and was a giant portion for $17. We also shared a biscuit with sausage gravy which was also amazing! Reduced onions and just enough sausage with a perfect consistancy. This was the first weekend they offered brunch and everything was perfect. We watched the other food coming out, it looked great and everyone around us seemed happy too... I will definitely return for brunch... Oh and very kid friendly it seems everyone under the age of fifty brought at least one.

    I have been here several times. The food is pretty good, prices are average. The main complaint I have is the service. The staff in general is not very attentive. The wait for lunch was supposed to be 15-20 minutes and turned out being about 25-30 minutes. I am not sure why there was any wait, There were several open tables. Everytime I come here, there are always tables that are not used. I am not sure why this happens especially when people are waiting for seats Waiter not very attentive and the food took a long time to be served. The servers are not aware of who ordered what. On 2 different occasions the food server has come to the wrong table and asked if this is what was ordered and it is the order for another table. Once food was cleared, we were not asked if we would like anything else; we were handed the check, Maybe I wanted a coffee or dessert. The staff could use some improvement in the area of organization and attentiveness. Food is decent but the restaurant could be run better.

    I can only comment on the atmosphere and drinks as I did not eat during my visit, but I thought the beer selection was pretty good and I really liked the atmosphere. It was a Friday night and fairly loud on the bar side, but there was some good live music and I think that's to be expected in any bar with live music on a Friday evening. My only complaint was that I thought the beers were a little pricey for the area, but I'll go back.

    Great, friendly service. Daily specials are awesome (1/2 price bottles of wine on Tuesdays!). The prices are reasonable for the quality of food. The menu has a wide variety of options to choose from and tastes delicious. Sat out on the patio out back with some friends and had a wonderful evening. Will definitely return!

    We couldn't have picked a better spot for our Christmas Eve dinner. We were seated by their cozy fireplace and were treated to exceptionally good service. The most difficult task of the evening was picking out our meals from their extensive and tempting menu. I had the chicken tenders which were lightly batter dipped and excellent. I also had their spinach and pear salad and they were most accommodating in switching the blue cheese for a creamy goat cheese. Served with a tasty apple vinegar dressing, it was delicious! Two of our party had the very tender lamb shank and both took pictures for their Instagram. The fish and chips were also highly rated by all, but it was the mussels that my sister could not stop raving about. Tender and very tasty served with some crusty bread to soak up the juices. She was in heaven. Not only was our server attentive, but another male waiter jumped to our table to help us with a spilled drink and we couldn't have been more delighted with the team atmosphere. Outstanding meal; so much so that we were all trying to take credit for choosing Mcfauls for our dinner.

    I have been excited for this place to open and finally this time I was in Maryland I was able to stop by and check it out. First off, what they have done to the place is incredible! Beautiful bar, amazing outside deck, top notch all around. I went outside to the deck bar and joined some friends for drinks. I'm sort of a wine snob and I wasn't floored by the wine selection but they did a have a few good selections...but they are not a wine bar so I won't fault them. The beer selections is very good and the bartenders were on top of keeping everyone refreshed. I gave the menu a look over, looked good so I decided to try the wings and a dozen oysters. Oyster pricing alone was damn good! And when they arrived, they didn't disappoint. The wings were okay. Nothing special, could have been better. The buffalo sauce needs a lot of work but Old Bay was alright. I'm looking forward to going back and trying more of the menu. I see this place being great for Raven's games and live music in the summer on the deck. Parking I heard was an issue, but I pulled right up and got a spot so hopefully no worries there. These guys seem to know what they are doing and I plan to fully support this place when I'm in town.

    Disappointed with my Reuben sandwich the other night. Bread was tough as if it was stale . Cornbeef was very dry. I have had better. Maybe their to busy. Waiter not very attentive. Mother's Day buffet was so much better. Hope it's not going down hill.

    I've now been twice and both times I've really enjoyed my meals here. I just recently moved into the Parkville area, and this place is making a strong argument to becoming my go-to local bar/food place. Location: Its located in the woods near Loch Raven Reservoir, so its a bit of the hike from the city, but from Towson and Parkville its only a few minutes drive. They also have three parking lots, one right off the main road, and another two hidden behind the restaurant. Service: Service was great both times. Friendly and attentive staff. Atmosphere: I like the feel of the space, and they even have an amazing outdoor patio/deck that is covered. Plus you can watch the bartenders shuck oyesters, which is always an awesome sight to see when ordering fresh seasfood. The first time I came, I split an order of chicken tenders and crab tater tots. I also took advantage of the happy hour special (which I learned they have multiple deals every day, so its worth checking back for more). The drinks were solid, but the food was the star. The chicken tenders were clearly homemade, beer battered friend pieces of deliciousness. The tater tots were even better. Before ordering, I pictured a plate of little pre-frozen tater tots, but what arrived were a plate of semi-large potato croquettes with crab and siracha mayo on them. They were awesome. On my second trip I had a cobb salad, which was great, but the real star were the oysters. We ordered a dozen and asked to be surprised with what we got. Somehow we ended up with 16 oysters (which is a good problem), and they were all divine. No shell pieces, fresh and clean taste. The price was right too, and they even do a 1/2 off happy hour some nights (which I'll definitely be back for). The menu has some really interesting dishes that I am hoping to try in the future, but I may never get to them because I'll just have to order oysters for every future visit.

    This was our first visit to McFaul's, as it was recommended by a friend. The setting is beautiful and it was easy to get to. Parking was fine and we appreciated the valet service, but would have parked our own car if there had been space available. Let me start by saying that the food was really good. We started with some great oysters and they were wonderful! Fresh and cold. Our entrees were really good, the duck burger and the scallop dinner. For the food alone, we'd probably go back. The real killers were the temperature in the restaurant. It was actually cooler outside once we left the place. Didn't ask if something was wrong with their a/c because it wouldn't have made any difference to our experience. So warm and humid in the restaurant that it really tainted our visit. The other negative was the service. Our server rarely came by our table. It took forever to make our order and we had to ask twice just to get refills on water. Reading the other reviews made me realize that we were never told about food or drink specials either. Didn't even know they had them! Had to wait again for the check and by this time, the heat and lack of service were real deal breakers. As I said, the food was great, but we'd probably go try something else before returning to this tavern.

    Went here for book club and to eat lunch with 5 friends. It is in such a random location! I kind of like that. You almost drive off the road looking for it. And yet it is always busy, and with valet parking(!) on a Sunday lunch. Our waiter was super distracted and a bit clueless, but maybe she was just Off that day. Who knows. It's a casual place where service doesn't really matter much! I didn't care. I had a salmon BLT and it was pretty awesome. I was happy with how I spent my sandwich money, and I like a good sandwich. A friend had a bacon bloody mary that was $10. Lots of "fixies" here with their families; a good place to bring parents when they visit from out of town. We sat out on the back porch and it was pretty busy; they were on a wait when we left. I will go back! A secret restaurant that everyone seems to know about.

    The bar was very busy but our server was very attentive and the food and drink was great. We meandered out to the deck and it was very nice atmosphere. My wife and I read some previous reviews that said parking was a bear but we had no trouble at all zipping in and out in a timely manner. We will certainly visit again.

    So this Kristin lady, who seems to take care of yelp complaints, etc. told me to go to their website and put in my complaint, according to my prior review. So, I went to their website and put in my yelp review, thinking that I would get a response in my email within a few days/weeks. Nope. Nothing. Considering the horrible food that they couldn't fix for the third time during our dining experience, and now someone who can't reach out to us after following her directions below, this place will be off the list for good. What complete incompetent idiots that work here, even what seems to be the management too.

    The good prices, great food, and authentic tavern vibe is the definition of the perfect even out. The service is always attentive and super friendly; even when they are crazy busy the servers always at least acknowledge your existence and assure that they are going to be with you ASAP. I appreciate that as much as good service. I love when in the midst of chaos a great team will still be able to make each customer feel important. This place really earns these five stars. If you haven't checked them out yet, it should be an absolutely must! We cannot wait to return for another fantastic experience.

    I have driven by this place frequently since I was 18, that was 20 years ago. Fast forward to past saturday, finally had a chance to visit this place. Saturday during lunch hours, actually, 1:30pm. The inside was very empty, since the weather was nice, a bit humid and hot. We requested outside, deck seating. It was a pleasant table; however, there were about 6 dead bugs on the table. They didn't bother to mop it off?? The waitress was nice and worked really hard, since she covers 10 tables by herself. I thought that is a bit strange. The menu wasn't exactly large as I thought. My g/f had a turkey wrap, while I had a salmon sandwich, 6 oz, I believe. It took about 50 mins for the food to come out. The salmon was small, but very thick. My g/f said her wrap is merely ok. While I thought my salmon sandwich could have a bit more flavor. Overall, the food is decent, but the wait time and unclean table kinda turned me off a bit.

    Below is my previous review. I had given 4 stars as well... I recently visited Mc'Fouls again anticipating a great time with great service. However, I was mistaken. The bartender, Phillip was a joke. He was UN-attentive, mildly rude ,and was taking shots while working. By all means, I have no issue with a bartender drinking and enjoying himself with the patrons or employees. However, when you cant even provide decent service to the ones who you are waiting on you.. maybe that's a problem. there was a huge lack of professionalism and we did not feel welcomed at all. even asking for water was a hassle for him. he was busy pouring himself a shot, I had to ask another employee who looked like he was doing the brunt of the work. barback possibly? Come on Iron Horse.. I really liked you.. It was pretty busy however the service was still great. I've been two times and have eaten once. The grilled romaine salad was great and drinks were served both times to perfection. Outside deck area was nice even in the evening and on a Sunday afternoon.

    Second visit here, first visit was probably close to a year and a half ago. I do remember the first time we came here, parking was a bit difficult since it was so crowded and you can't really park on the street in that area since its out in the sticks. Today? Parking was a cinch. The restaurant is in a large house-type building. It has a bar with multiple TVs, dining area, and an outside deck. Ordered the crab tater tots as an appetizer. Not what I expected, but that is a good thing. Maybe a bit too much of the siracha aioli on those, but otherwise, these were delicious. I ordered the reuben and it was pretty much the best reuben I've had in Baltimore. I chose a side of potato salad - this was good, but it needed a bit of salt and maybe just a little bit more mustard. That's just my opinion. My boyfriend ordered the lamb burger. It came on a Pita that was cut in half instead of a bun. It was pretty messy and would probably work out better if they just made it into a wrap instead of trying to use a pita like a bun. He liked it other than the mess factor. He chose the homemade Old Bay chips to go with his burger and while they were good, they had way too much Old Bay. They were practically encrusted with Old Bay, making them way too salty. Beer selection was nice. A lot to pick from. Nice variety of cocktails. Had the Strawberry Mule on my previous visit and it was delicious. No complaints about the service. Everything seemed to come out at a decent pace. Waiter was friendly and attentive. Will return.

    I've been here a few times & each time there is one notable standard - a long list of what they DON'T have. I don't know who does the ordering for this place, but they need to know that when your establishment is offering specials, the last thing that patrons want to hear is that the majority of them are unavailable. This has been the case every time I've been here & I'm sick of giving this place another chance. The food that is available is pretty standard bar fare which means it's also pretty forgettable - think Glory Days or Bill Batemans. Don't expect much & you won't be disappointed. The service is equally lacking & typically involves young servers, more intent on chatting among themselves or pecking away at their smart phones instead of paying attention to tables full of empty glasses. Oh, and the best time to clean & disinfect the bar's ice bin is after hours & not while people are bellied up & eating - a management issue. I think I'm done with the Iron Horse.

    I've driven by this place a few times and never thought anything of it until I pulled it up on Yelp and saw the number of high ratings. At that point, we had to give it a try. The place is quite nice inside - spacious deck, decent sized bar with a section for their raw oysters, and a dining room complete with fireplace and large flat screen showing gorgeous flyovers of various points along the Chesapeake. Kudos for the atmosphere. I was excited by the menu - the sheer number of offerings of various mixed drinks, selection from the raw bar, rotating seasonal items, etc. was impressive and most sounded very appealing. I have to admit I was thrilled at my prospects. I opted for the Rockfish Tacos (grilled) and my husband ordered the Cassidy's Caesar Burger (per our waitress' recommendation over the Fish and Chips.) Sadly, the tacos were as bland as bland could get. I'm not quite sure how that happened considering all the toppings piled on, but everything could have used some salt and then some. There was no smoke from the "roasted pineapple-mango salsa" and no hint of heat from the "jalapeno-cucumber yogurt sauce." The one distinct flavor was raw green pepper from the massive chucks of it that were tossed on. The sides were basically throwaways - both the rice and beans lacked flavor as well; but at least the beans were soft enough to mash and feed to our little one. I had a bite of the Caesar burger, it was fine. It was cooked to temperature and was well-seasoned. I did think the bun to burger ratio was a bit off (far too much excess bread), but that's minor. Overall, I'm not ready to write this place off - I look forward to giving it another try sometime.

    Last night a group of 8 of us went to McFauls for my fathers birthday. Parking is a HUGE issue. It took us 20 minutes to find a spot. When we got inside I went into the ladies room and was instantly hit with a ammonia/urine smell- it was making my eyes water. The bathroom was gross. I asked our server, "do you have bread?" The answer was simply "yes." Well that bread cost $4. I'm not too concerned over $4 but how about a warning. We then ordered Maryland Crap soup. It was pretty funny to watch as everyone took a first bite and looked at each other. It was terrible. Our entrees were delivered in waves over a 15 minute span- one of my biggest pet peeves. Entrees were nothing special- I expected much more considering the prices. It's nice that they have a gluten free menu but $28 for 4 medium to small scallops over pesto with a few little quarter sized slivers of potato? Come on, give the poor person some vegetables or something to fill their belly. My favorite part of the whole meal was dessert. I asked our server to bring out a few deserts, one with a candle since we were celebrating a birthday. About 20 minutes later she came out and put the desserts on the table (no candle) and walked away. Never said happy birthday- nothing. Everyone was very confused until I started singing. All things considered I will not be back. I would rather go somewhere with better food/service for that kind of money.

    I've always been hesitant to eat here. The location is what's always lured me. Right on the reservoir and outside seating! The parking on the other hand can be scary. Especially when they always have a valet booth set up. To me that screams extra charge. The parking is always ridiculous. Yet this must mean there's something good inside. We were brave enough to ask and to our surprise its complimentary. This was a nice start till we got into a 45 minute wait. Holy crap wasn't the best reaction but what the heck. Surprised again. It was totally worth the wait. Ahi tacos were beautifully done. I'm not a pizza fan. Never guessed Id order pizza to "try something new". The prosciutto and fig jam pizza was out of this world. I may have to get that every time I go. My only complaint is the pricing on the alcoholic drinks.

    Stopped in last weekend for lunch, ordered the "Striper Bites", loved them the last time they were on the menu. It was a nice sized portion. When they came out, there were 5 pieces, 2 were the size of peanuts. This should have never left the kitchen and I should have sent it back but didn't. The real kicker was when the bill came, it was $15, on the menu it's marked as "market price". They used to be $11. Come on McFaul's, you can do better then this. I keep coming back and keep being disappointed.

    We stopped here today for brunch after driving past this place a few times. We were very happy we did. I had the turkey panini which was good with real roasted turkey. I had the cran-Apple chutney on the side which I was glad about because it was good but I liked having the ability to only use a little. My fiancé had the steak and eggs which also came with hash browns and toast. It was a very good sized portion and he enjoyed his meal as well. We will definitely go back and eat in a different room since each room seemed to have a different feel.

    Excellent food and drink in a lovely location. Can't beat sitting on the deck looking out over the park. Decent wine list and menu elevated above the typical bar food. There is plenty of "sports bar" going on here, with several TVs on - but not so much that it bothers me (I am def not a sportbar person). Gets too crowded for comfort on weekends but valet parking helps with the small lot situation.

    Had a nice dinner on the back patio. Very nice wooded area with a creek out back. This place makes you feel like you have escaped Baltimore for a few hours. I had the bison burger and it was great. She had the salmon BLT and enjoyed it as well. The server could have been a bit more keyed in on her specials and her menu knowledge but we had a great experience here.

    McFaul's Tavern is overall good! I've been here twice and each time the food was great. I did not have trouble with parking and it may be because we came during an early lunch on a Saturday. We also made reservations (we had a party of 6) so seating was not an issue. I ordered the salmon dish with mac & cheese and my bf ordered the crab cake pizza. For appetizers we shared mozzarella sticks. The food was fresh, seasoned perfectly, and arrived timely. That marina sauce for the mozzarella sticks was really good. Not the standard sauce. The drinks were decent and our waitress was attentive enough. We are definitely planning to come back, especially for the mac and cheese. My advice is to call ahead, if possible, to see how busy they are. McFaul's has 2 parking lots and the park has one that is a very short walk away.

    McFaul's is an awesome little local hideout! Quick back story on this place: I was trying to find my way back to a main road when I became completely lost. Turned down this little street and ended up right in McFaul's parking lot. Finally, two years later, I found my way back here. This place is fantastic- great food, nice staff...I will definitely return very soon! =)

    Had dinner lastnight with a couple of my gals and it was great. The guy who waited on us- Steve was awesome. He was attentive and gave good suggestions . Now to the food.. As an appetizer - The crab dip.. One of the best I've had.. Has a slight kick to it which I liked. As for entree- I got Ma's Meatloaf which was excellent! Wrapped in bacon and deliciousness. I highly recommend this place if you've never been.

    Stopped by on a Thursday evening during the summer for dinner. Parking was hard to come by, and while there were a few seats inside, there were no seats available outside on the deck. Great spot along the Cromwell Valley. Food was good, we started with the crab dip and had the burger special. Burgers were well-sized and cooked to order. Added sweet potato fries, which were lightly coated with cinnamon sugar. Overall, great summer spot, I'll definitely stop back again soon.

    My first visit here - we came for brunch. Pretty location and rooms. The food was eh. I got the Creme brûlée french toast with whipped cream and berries. So much potential but missing love. The French toast was undercooked, hardly any whipped cream or berries and a tiny plastic cup of syrup. Our server seemed underwhelmed to be with us - even drink refills seemed like a chore. Can't say I'm rushing to come back.

    Great food and outdoor seating is beautiful and relaxing. Great for a date or hanging out with friends. Unfortunately.. it was a busy night so it took us two hours to receive our entrees. Thankfully, they were still warm and delicious. The three stars is simply because of the wait time and because the waiter didn't keep us informed about why there was a delay not did he actively check if we needed more drinks. Food Order the prosciutto and fig jam pizza which was wonderful! Their dough is very flaky and the combination of ricotta, fig and prosciutto was wonderful! My boyfriend ordered the BLT Oyster Po' Boy sliders with potato salad. I tried and they were great! Their slider bread was great with a hunt of sweetness and their oysters were fried fresh. I ordered the Salmon BLT with sweet fries. Salmon was moist but not raw and their bacon was sweet and crunchy! Fries were also good but didn't think the sauces paired too well. Would go again... with the hesitation about the wait.

    I have been coming here about once a week since my friend introduced me to McFauls last year. I have been working my way through the menu. Some things were great others fair. The service and ambience always over came any lacking in flavor. I had always felt that overall the menu was well put together and portions were a good value. The last couple of times it seems that the value just wasn't there. The place is very busy and popular so maybe they feel that they can scale back on the portions.

    A great local place. Good food. I usually get the fish tacos. Problems: NO PARKING. This is an issue that a going to cost them business. Because they're on the Loch Raven watershed they cannot expand. There is ' valet parking. But they basically just move your car around. If you can't find a place then tough luck. Small Kitchen. We had to wait an hour then got seated on the VERY noisy outdoor patio. Waitress said that they have to space people out due to their small kitchen, which can't handle the volume.

    McFaul's has been a destination for many years--since its days as Sander's Corner, where they served the very best ice cream. Located in a wonderful bucolic setting, but not too far off the beaten path, McFaul's current ownership continues that legacy of top-notch hospitality. My last visit was on a Friday night, and it was definitely date night! The demographic covered ages 25-65, with the crowd here to have a good time. Not too many kids when I was here, but there is a kid's menu, so maybe daytime or early evening. There are several rooms/dining areas, and each has its own charms. The front room offers an intimate setting with a fireplace and cozy seating, while the bar and heated enclosed deck were less formal. The back room offers terrific seating as well. The drink program is very good, with several house-made infusions, multiple micro-brew draft options, all the in vogue selections you'd expect. The theme here is a looser farm-to-table idea with a focus on originality and quality. Food is off the charts good. Burgers are great, mozzarella app was awesome, crab dip yummilicious, the chicken tenders are gigantic. Try the lobster mac and cheese. Seared sushi-grade tuna is tadiefa! Bison chili--woohoo! But I'm neglecting the real reason I came here-the oysters. If you follow my reviews, you know I live for the bivalves! McFaul's had eight (count 'em) varieties the night I was here, which the staff tells me is the usual number. All on the ice, all top quality. Blue points? Got 'em. Chincoteagues? Got 'em. Salt Ponds? Check. Tillman Islands? Ditto--and on and on. It seems I have found my new favorite oyster bar! Staff is amazing-energetic and accommodating. I've read some neg reviews concerning parking, but with three lots, I didn't have a problem. I will def be bahck---looking forward to new oyster offerings in a really nice setting! This is a casual but high quality establishment.

    Good atmosphere, even though the Baltimore Room was a bit loud. Drinks were well worth the price. Three of us had burger special ($7 Thurs). Two of us had Oyster stew, a little meager for $8. Everybody's meal was great. The only problem was my burger. I asked for medium and when it arrived I cut it in half and most of the inside was raw. I took one bite and couldn't eat it. The waitress never came back to check on us! At the end of the meal I showed it to her and asked if that was what they considered medium. She said "Oh No...would you like me to have it grilled more". I said "too late...check please...and no take home box for me!" We'll go back though.

    (09/09/2012) Was pleasantly surprised by our dining experience. While I loved Sanders Corner for what it was (the food was "homey"), it was not high on our list of places for good food. This incarnation exceeded expectations (although, I did set the bar somewhat low). Love that they pay attention to seasonal and local foods, and that care shines through the food. All the dishes seemed very fresh and were well-prepared. Started with 2 side salads, which, when they came to the table, it was remarked that they were "very good" (and who says that about a side salad?); grape tomatoes were ripe and greens were crisp and bright. A Raven Caprese came with 4 thick slices of ripe, juicy, locally grown tomato topped with creamy and tart Cherry Glen Farms goat cheese, fresh basil, and balsamic vinaigrette; nice end of summer combo. The Striper Bites were a hit, fresh thick fingers of locally caught rockfish in a crisp, light Harp batter served with Old Bay scented aioli. House-smoked bluefish pate also well done, smokey, fishy, slightly tangy, creamy, accented with briny capers. A soft shell sandwich special (ordered without the bun) was sauteed rather than the usual deep-fried and fairly well-sized. Fish and Chips were more of that great batter around substantial pieces of Atlantic cod; "chips" were rather wan potato fries, lacked crispness. The housemade potato chips are excellent; thick and crunchy, kettle cooked, dusted with Old Bay, forgo the fries if you need a potato. BLT Oyster Po' Boy Sliders were 2 potato dinner rolls with 3 cornmeal-crusted, darkly deep-fried, Tilghman Island oysters (overfrying left the oysters too firm and lacked liquor), with spicy chipotle mayo, ripe tomato, romaine leaf, and crisp thick-cut bacon; flavors right on, needed less cook time. The Jerk Chicken Pizza (of the Day) was the least successful; rather bland and chalky crust, commercial tasting sauce (too sweet), and mildly flavored jerk chicken breast bits. Desserts are sourced from a local bakery, Sasscer's Cheesecakes, as well; cheesecake was the whipped, grainy kind, flavors a little on the overwhelming side (Orange Creamsicle was a little too much like the real manufactured thing), and unfortunately ruined with a dollop out of the Dairy-Whip can. Prigel Family Creamery supplies the excellent full-fat, luscious ice cream (peanut butter and chocolate is like a frozen Reese's!). Service is like being served by your clueless teenage family members, but is earnest; they're trying but the restaurant should think about hiring some adults. The place was packed at 6pm on a Sunday; I think there's not much out this way, and McFaul's strives to be everything to everyone, sports bar (there is a TV and sometimes multiples in every single room), a family restaurant, and a special occasion place, and they seem to be making it work.

    Been here a couple of times and every time the food has been great! The surroundings are very nice and peaceful. Would recommend to anyone who was looking for a really nice place to eat. Raw oysters have always been really good and fresh as well.

    Nice place. Used to be sanders corner and was kinda getting run down. Now it's a nicely designed bar/restaurant. Sometimes they have live music and it can get crowded on a nice day with the patio. Food is slightly above bar food quality.

    I finally had a chance to visit this place. I liked the atmosphere and the set up. They have a good beer selection and I sampled a brew from Colorado I've never had before: Left Hand Stranger Pale Ale. The menu is very diverse with nice diverse selection. I opted for the Grilled Pork Chop and it was excellent. (One of the best I have had in recent memory.) The service was very attentive with two people dedicated to the area I was in. Overall the first experience was a good one and I will be back in the future.

    Great place with great food. We randomly found this place after a hike in Gunpowder State Park. The lobster dip was an amazing appetizer and their selection of local wine was great too. Service was super friendly and overall the atmosphere was superb.

    A group of us were here for Sunday brunch. It is a very local pub like place. Nice outside deck. We heard parking was tough but we did not have a problem. The service was good and we were seated quickly. However, those were the highlights. We were informed that they ran out of coffee. Coffee? on a Sunday morning? After ordering we were told no white bread for toast because of heavy demand for their soft crabs the NIGHT BEFORE. We were told this happens somewhat frequently. Now I have never owned a restaurant but I would have had somebody/any employee go to the nearby shopping centers and buy bread and coffee. Just unbelievable! I think between us we had one of everything on the limited brunch menu. The food arrived in groups and the kitchen forgot one order completely. I think the consensus of the table was the food was okay and nothing special with some dishes a little greasy.. However, 3 people who had similar dishes all had stomach problems later in the day which I just learned. The place looks like it would be good for a fun bar. We did not sample the normal menu which may be good. However, I would not go back for brunch or lunch.

    Since McFaul's opened, we have probably gone there more than any other restaurant. It is family friendly and the food is good. With that said, we went in on Saturday night with 2 other couples and had a terrible experience. I am a very easy going diner and never review on yelp but it was that bad. We ordered both apps and entree's except everything came out at once. There was literally no room for the food to be put down. When I asked why everything came out at once the manager told me, very rudely "You have 2 choices, We can take your entree's back and put it under a heat lamp or we can leave them out". All he had to do was acknowledge the mistake and apologize for the mix up but he instead was rude and obnoxious. If I weren't in a group, I would have told him that I have a 3rd option - get up and leave. On top of that, the restaurant week entree (Rock fish filet) according to the three in our party that had it, was terrible. Next time, how about an apology for the terrible service and offering us a drink.
