    We went due the positive reviews and we were not disappointed. My wife decided on a meal of appetizers: French Onion Soup, Beet carpaccio, and Fig Ravioli. I had the BLT Salad and Veal Saltimboca. Everything was excellent. We both had Creme Brule for desert, with cappuccino For my wife and espresso for me. The only off note was my espresso, though good, was only warm, not hot. In addition, the service was excellent.

    MEMORABLE. I've been sampling the top rated restaurants within 10-15 miles of Easton this summer, and this was the first WOW! experience. Picturesque inn, romantic setting. We chose a table on the porch to watch the sun set over the boats in the harbor, then enjoyed wine and drinks (shaken right at the table), and warm bread. Husband was delighted with the rockfish and asparagus--and gorgeous "architectural" presentation of the succulent, generous portion. I slowly savored the melt-in-your-mouth beef filet and the potato puree filled cannoli (a decorator's twist on mashed potatoes to be sure!) and the best green beans I've had in my life. Seems the chef grows her herbs and veggies right there. Wait staff was friendly and appropriately attentive (without being chummy). After our two capuccinos with dessert, we agreed Pope's was a 9.5. Only thing keeping it from a 10 was a fairly long wait for bread (or something to accompany our drinks), and we noticed that patrons who arrived after us were offered something before us (and the couple before us). A minor point that could easily be fixed. We'll be back.

    My wife and I have eaten here in the past - imaginative menu, great food, great service. We stopped by this evening to check the menu and to reserve a table for later - they are only open Thursday to Sunday! The menu looks really basic - hamburgers, chicken, etc. The menu that is on their website was last updated Fall 2014 - much better than what is on their door. I guess if you just want mass quantities and familiar fare, it would be OK. If you are looking for something special, walk down the street to the Robert Morris Inn. That is what we chose to do.

    So happy that we found this place!!! Service was impeccable. Food was outstanding! We were in Oxford on a quick vacation and wanted to stay local. I knew that there would be some constraints considering its winter and its a small town. This place rivals many DC restaurants. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. First, we had oysters which were on special: any style, at $1 a piece!!! We both did half a dozen. His were raw and mine were Pope's(?) style which was their version of Rockefeller. Great flavor. Can't go wrong with cheese and bacon! For the main course, I had the prime rib and my friend had the duck. I sopped up every bit of the sauce I could find. Then it came with a potato cannoli that was cheesy and light. And braised brussel sprouts. First time eating brussel sprouts ever (yea I know). I now love brussel sprouts. We finished with apple pie based on yelp reviews and ya'll didn't steer me wrong. If I'm ever in the area again, I'm definitely making reservations.

    Really good food, great service. I had the chicken and my boyfriend had the crabcakes, and both were delicious. And I highly recommend the apple pie for dessert--probably the best part of the meal!

    We sailed into Oxford Md. late afternoon on a Saturday. Menu looked fresh and creative so we set out on foot. The Yelp directions strangely seemed to stop halfway, but we managed to find it. Make a reservation, 'cos this place is popular! we were seated at the bar. The staff could not have been more pleasant. We ordered cocktails which were perfect. Our starters were squash blossoms stuffed with crab and a BLT salad both excellent choices. My flounder was superb, very fresh, perfectly cooked, moist with a terrific creamy lemon caper sauce with artichokes on a mound of mashed potatoes. Couldn't resist the flourless chocolate cake for dessert. They gave us a large slice and it was super dense, just how I like it. But the best part was meeting the delightful owner Dan and his daughter, when we explained that one person in our party had been sick all day (in fact he hadn't been able to eat) and that we had walked further than we thought, they readily offered to take us back in the "Pope's " mobile, an old taxi. So nice of them,we were very grateful. In fact Dan told us if you are far away and give them a call they will pick you up. Dan said the restaurant "was his wife's idea" and that she was the chef! Hats off to her. Really recommend this restaurant.

    I probably cannot say enough good things about this place. The food was incredible, the staff/service is perfect, and the atmosphere is lovely. The chef has a brilliant touch for what's local and fresh...get whatever the fish or oyster special of the day is and you won't be disappointed. I'm sure the menu changes often, but we enjoyed: oysters on the half-shell, the appetizer with pork and plantains, the flounder, the swordfish and crab-stuffing. The absolute best way to top it all off was the creme brulee cooked to perfection. I would go back to Oxford just to go to this restaurant.

    This restaurant and bar is part of the Oxford Inn at the top of the harbor. We had dinner on the porch. The menu has a good variety of items. The special soup was gazpacho topped with crab meat.

    Seeking someplace special for an anniversary is always a daunting task. We heard about Pope's Tavern and, not having visited Oxford for years, decided to take the leap. Pope's Tavern is a a very attractive venue on the first floor of the Oxford Inn. The room is divided into a dining room located to the left of the bar counter and the bar itself on the right. We didn't know when we booked but it was Restaurant Week in Talbot County. Restaurant Week is generally a mixed blessing but here it was all positive. Escargots for my wife and a goat cheese souffle for me. Monkfish and veal skirt steak with a tomato hollandaise were the main course with the fish accompanied by risotto and the veal by a Parmesan pasta cake. Dessert was creme brule and pineapple bread pudding. The main menu was similarly wonderful. Prices were totally reasonable on the main menu. Not inexpensive but commensurate with the quality of the food. This is a definite go back to place!

    FANTASTIC. This is our first time in Oxford- such a quaint and beautiful town. Arrived late in a Friday and relied on Yelp to guide us to some good food. We were not disappointed! The restaurant staff and /owners are warm and inviting. The atmosphere is comfortable. We started with appetizers- gazpacho with tequila ice cream and beef carpaccio - both fabulous. For entrees we had the filet mignon (meat cooked perfectly and comes with a mashed potato cannoli that is a must try) and the organic chicken with cauliflower rice which satisfies my low carb preference. The chicken was done perfectly. The food is fresh and we will be back again!

    Stopped here for a drink while in Oxford. Bartender was friendly enough. Not a wide selection of beer but the bar was cozy. Not really built for a big crowd but good for couples. Didn't eat here but reviewed the menu. Short list of options to eat.

    A rare treat in a charming town. I joined my parents for their anniversary celebration, along with family and friends. We started with $1 oysters, fried and "Pope's style," half a dozen each. Pope's style were similar to Oysters Rockefeller, except more tasty. They were served with just the right proportions of creamy goodness, bacon, spinach, and a golden-brown Parmesan topping. My dad ordered the Rockefeller stew and reported that it was decent, although perhaps "too creamy," and "not tasty enough..." A small setback in what proved to be a top-notch meal. For dinner, my parents ordered filet mignon served with mashed potato "cannolis." The steaks were delivered the right temperature and color. My brother ordered a bone-in veal chop, which he ranked "among the best" he's ever had. It was unfortunate that my meal was not quite up to par with the rest of the table. I ordered Alsatian-braised pork ribs with sausage, sauerkraut, and brussel sprouts. The concept was interesting but the execution was lacking. The ribs were tough and under-cooked. Braised my left foot. Boiled, maybe. I decided not to send my plate back, since the dining room was bustling with several large dinner parties, and I didn't want to file any complaints during an otherwise pleasurable dining experience. When the check arrived, the waitress noted that she had suspected the ribs were not fully cooked and had comped it on our check. With friendly service and otherwise positive reviews from the rest of our table, I'll be sure to return to Pope's for another meal. A rare treat, indeed.

    We recently purchased a home on nearby Tilghman Island and decided to wander over to Oxford for Easter brunch. Although we had visited the small harbor town before, it was our first experience at Pope's Tavern and we could not have been more pleased. The service was attentive and the ambiance inviting. The restaurant offered a special menu for the holiday, which had traditional items with unique twists - our starter was a crispy shrimp appetizer that consisted of three large shrimp wrapped in angel hair pasta, deep fried, and served with a pesto aioli. After that, my husband had a perfect portion of croissant French toast (nice and eggy, not at all dry) with a generous side of thick cut bacon; I enjoyed an eggs benedict that boasted crispy beef hash (in place of the usual Canadian bacon) over house-made biscuits (rather than an English muffin) and a nice hollandaise. The desserts were tempting, but we were much too full to indulge! The brunch portions were generous and kept us satisfied long after we left. Definitely worth a try, I know we will be returning.

    Bad service: Two of three parties seated after us received their food first (within sight lines). Bad food: The gaspacho appeared to be salsa from a refrigerator, the swordfish was bland, and the succotash was creamy and gross, as though it'd been pre-chewed. Overpriced: Hotel pricing for middling fare. I was much more satisfied by Latitude 38, three blocks away.

    Great service coupled with tremendous food makes for an excellent meal, and that's what we had at Pope's Tavern. The menu may seem small, but the food is top notch by any standard. The menu is imaginative and the servers are friendly without being obtrusive. I would return again.

    Stellar food. My father-in-law proclaims they have the best burger on the Eastern Shore. I had the special: potato wrapped halibut- beautiful presentation, flaky potato baked around a hunk of high quality halibut. The ceviche was so fresh and brightly flavored. My husband ordered the crab cake. (meaty, crispy outside... I only had one bite because it disappeared so quickly). The succotash was my personal favorite. The wait staff is always genuinely friendly- and while I wish they had a high chair- they were patient, accommodating and sweet with our little kids.

    We had ventured to Oxford, MD to check out the award-winning ice cream at the Scottish Creamery but Pope's Tavern will be tops on our reasons why we must return again to this lovely town - and soon. Our server was warm, efficient and fun, with great guidance and suggestions. The food was fantastic. I could have walked out happy on merely the bread and olive oil/roasted garlic combo, but then I would have missed indulging in my series of small plates (salad, gazpacho, fish tacos). We demurred on dessert due to the aforementioned ice cream and had a lovely, sunset stroll from the Inn. A perfect evening.
