Our last minute gataway to Oxford over the Memorial day weekend was made extra special by the wonderful accomodations at the Nichols house garden cottage. Luann and her husband are most gracious and welcoming hosts. Their cottage, tucked away in a luscious garden in full bloom is a perfect hideaway for two. Tasteful decor, all essential amenities, great location right in town and walking distance to the park, the market and the town beach make Nichols House cottage our Oxford secret hideaway to come back to :)

We went due the positive reviews and we were not disappointed. My wife decided on a meal of appetizers: French Onion Soup, Beet carpaccio, and Fig Ravioli. I had the BLT Salad and Veal Saltimboca. Everything was excellent. We both had Creme Brule for desert, with cappuccino For my wife and espresso for me. The only off note was my espresso, though good, was only warm, not hot. In addition, the service was excellent.
MEMORABLE. I've been sampling the top rated restaurants within 10-15 miles of Easton this summer, and this was the first WOW! experience. Picturesque inn, romantic setting. We chose a table on the porch to watch the sun set over the boats in the harbor, then enjoyed wine and drinks (shaken right at the table), and warm bread. Husband was delighted with the rockfish and asparagus--and gorgeous "architectural" presentation of the succulent, generous portion. I slowly savored the melt-in-your-mouth beef filet and the potato puree filled cannoli (a decorator's twist on mashed potatoes to be sure!) and the best green beans I've had in my life. Seems the chef grows her herbs and veggies right there. Wait staff was friendly and appropriately attentive (without being chummy). After our two capuccinos with dessert, we agreed Pope's was a 9.5. Only thing keeping it from a 10 was a fairly long wait for bread (or something to accompany our drinks), and we noticed that patrons who arrived after us were offered something before us (and the couple before us). A minor point that could easily be fixed. We'll be back.
delicious seasonal food, prepared straightforwardly.

Gorgeous Property, Great Location! My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in the Tuckaway Cottage. The cottage was immaculate, top to bottom, well kept and as quant as can be, so charming! The staff were friendly and delivered the cutest breakfast basket to our room every morning. The property has amazing views of the bay and is simply beautiful! They have lots of nice sitting areas, hammocks and a cute boat house stocked with drinks and snacks! We just loved the location, the surrounding neighborhood and the natural beauty of the this well kept property! Can't wait to visit again!
Beautiful place for some peace and quiet time. If you're looking to relax on the beautiful shore, this is your place. I will say though that it is a case of the room looking better on the website than it really is. We were at the beach view room and despite the beautiful porch with incredible scenery, it could use some renovation, for the shower and some other parts. The place is also more expensive than some other Places in the area and refusing a one night stay guests is not something I appreciate. Having said that, everyone are friendly, the place is beautiful, they give you everything you need to enjoy great time at a beautiful place. Would definitely consider coming back.
Overpriced for an unrenovated inn with 18 rooms and a basket of supermarket bought "breakfast" items. Library and sitting room are dark. Views of the water are fabulous.

Just had Thanksgiving dinner tonight. I am writing the first review ever tonight. I had heard such good things about the chief and the food I was excited to take my wife there. I must say what a surprise. The entire experience was terrible. Service was terrible. At 6:30 they were out of one of 4 entree options. Soup was cold and fried oysters came from the freezer. Turkey dinner was dry and vegetables we under cooked and served cold. Pecan pie was good but was clearly store bought and not homemade. Had to go to the bar top get second glass of wine after waiting 20 minutes for waitress. I don't mind spending $175 for a good meal and great service but we didn't get either one. No one should have to go thru this so read this and be warned!
Anchored off Oxford on a long sailing trip and rowed into town for some food. Stumbled upon the tavern and we decided to go in because there was A/C and it was hot! Had a couple beers and apps at the Bar and they were excellent. The crab bisque had an excellent flavor, a little light on the crab meat, but the flavor more than made up for it. We also had the tuna carpaccio, which had a great light sauce on it, was a huge portion, and had fried goat cheese on top (who can go wrong with fried goat cheese?). I would definitely recommend going, it is a quaint little town and good food, atmosphere, and staff. I will mention our bartender whose name I can't remember but she was a recent transplant from Cali and totally awesome!
Wonderful Venue Our group of 60 ladies had an excellent tea. Fresh baked scones, lemon curd, smith island cake and more. The items were Beautifully presented and delicious. Several in our group required gluten free selections And the inn delivered. Eve the banquet coordinator was knowledgeable and the service was perfect. This is one of our local favorites in beautiful Oxford.

Four stars for doing what a waterfront/marina place should do well. Beer is cold crab cakes are good. We got the salads and added the crab cake for a reasonably priced dinner. The service is really friendly and quick. Drinks are well made and the atmosphere is super casual.
This place isn't bad for what it is-was here a few times last summer and brought lots of people each time, and everyone was satisfied. Went back today and was annoyed- everyone else's meal was fine, but I ordered 6 steamed crabs and two of them were missing their claws- this is BAD crab serving etiquette!! Like serving a pizza with 2 slices missing- plus they are not cheap! When I requested that the waitress exchange them, she blew me off and said it would take 30 minutes to boil new ones. Two days ago I had incredible crab and good service just 7 minutes from Schooners at the Masthead- and that's where I'll be going for meals from now on.
This place is great for drinks and mixing with residents and tourists. After staying in Oxford for two summers, I tried most of the items on the appetizer and light menu (link: schoonersonthecreek.com/… ). I always found myself disappointed and have since only go to meet for a dockside drink. The service is often seemingly needlessly inattentive (few customers), and several times I observed proportion of dish items varied by the hour and day (I was told it depends on who plates the meal... clearly no quality/expectation control established by management). Much of the light and appetizer menu seems to be pre-prepared frozen from Sysco or a like resource.

Great place for weekend brunch! Clean. Good food, good service. Servers were friendly, and made us feel at home. You could tell some of the clientele were locals. We'll be back!
I ordered the chicken and waffles, which this being the Eastern Shore expectations were high. The waffles were frozen out of a box. I know this because they were obviously stamped out and in fact were cold. Not room temperature but cold. The chicken was a cut up chicken tender. Our server was friendly so she was the highlight. Otherwise there are far better options nearby. Skip this place.
I spent several months in Oxford the last two summers. Given the town has a population of around 640 people -- many of whom live elsewhere off season -- it seems to me that the restaurant is a tribute to the town. The owner has provided a range of menus and seating arrangements to meet the desire of any resident or visitor. Informal seating at the bar, and access to bar dinners ($8-$15), provide opportunities for everyone in town to meet or catch up. More formal settings with tablecloth and fireplace are available for those seeking an intimate night out. The menu provided at tables is available as half orders...again providing opportunity to meet everyone's desires, whether financial, diet or simply indecision. Menu changes every two weeks, always giving something new for residents to try (menu link: latitude38.org/menu.pdf ). The prime rib special on Wednesdays is always a winner, as is the seasonal green tomato appetizer. Yes, it is not directly on the water, but why would anyone docking not want to actually SEE this beautiful town through a short stroll down the road. The one drawback.... after trying several desserts I feel it is best head to Highland for ice cream.

Contrary to previous postings, we found the food here excellent and the Sunset beautiful. The staff was friendly..service timely and learned the 2 cooks were fairly new. The mussels, steamed crabs and crab cake were excellent. The tuna steak would have rated excellent but was cooked more than desired. The vegetable sides were crisp tender; the roasted potatoes nicely roasted. Both just needed more flavoring which was accomplished with some Old Bay Seasoning . Thoroughly enjoyable evening.
We stopped on here for a cocktail when we got to Oxford. The service was basically non-existent. Nice view, though.
Save your money and go to schooners. This place is terrible. For a seafood place their food sucks. Maryland has tge best seafood in the wirld but this place doesnt. It is overpriced and tge service is terrible. Ordered crabs and had to send them back. The bew owners suck. They need to do another occupation. If you want good seafood go to crab claw in st. Michaels. The food is served cokd and soggy. Theur is definately no manafement. A shame because it has a beautiful view but terrible food.
