What a great find. We were expecting a very small, hidden away spot. Ok, the hidden away bit we got right, but it's a rather large, bustling road house kind of place. Very friendly, professional staff. We started out with a craft beer (nice selection) and a very refreshing mixed drink, a lemonade and vodka mix that was very nice. For an appetizer we tried the naked chicken wings. Very well done, not the typical over sauced wings you get at a chain restaurant. Nice char, bit of heat, with a smokey hint. Nice arranges of sauces on the table if you want to jazz it up a bit. The main courses we tried were the smoked friend chicken and a pulled pork sandwich. Sides, Mac and Cheese, collards and roasted brussels sprouts. All very well executed. Lots of smokey flavour to the chicken, melt in your mouth pulled pork, great sides. The Mac and Cheese had a lightness to it that was unexpected. First visit, but will not be our last.

Awesome food! Just go! I am so glad to have a good place to go dine. Try the wings and brisket. You will not be disappointed!

My wife and I ordered takeout from here and I'm really, really pleased with the outcome! Luckily, we received a mailer that this place had been renovated and opened under new management, and it stated that if we brought the mailer in, we'd get 10% off, so we figured why not? I ordered the Hideaway Burger. It was cooked perfectly and had great, great flavor. I got Hideaway Fries with it. They weren't the best fries in the world, but they were good enough. My wife ordered the Ultimate, a pulled pork sandwich. She scarfed it down so fast I didn't even get to try it! She got the hushpuppies with honey cinnamon butter as the side, and they were really, really good! I definitely can't wait until we can go back and actually sit down at the restaurant and try more of the menu. I didn't get to see the beer list, but I've read it's a little stingy. After we experience the atmosphere, I'll definitely update my review. If it's as good as their food, they'll have earned that 5th star!

For the location, price, and food/bar selections this place is a real winner. I had the occasion to try both the pulled pork sandwich and the brisket sandwich. No, this is not the best BBQ I've ever had, but it is the best BBQ I've ever had in Maryland. We aren't going to get it like Texas, Georgia, or Tennessee, but this stuff is still really good. For the sides, I went with some hush puppies. Very different than most hush puppies I've had. They were pretty dense, but not in a bad way and had real corn flavor to them. They are served with honey butter, a requirement in my opinion. For starters I've tried the pulled pork jalapeño queso. This is more like pulled pork nachos with cheese and jalapeños but even though the description is misleading I was not disappointed that I ordered them. Very big though so have people with you for sharing. I've also gotten to try the smoked fried chicken and the wings. Both are very good. The smoked fried chicken is not your traditional fried chicken by any means (it's not breaded) but it is juicy and crisp with great flavor on the rub. The wings are much the same. Get them naked with sauce on the side you won't regret it and you may not even end up needing the sauce. For brunch one day I went with the breakfast burger, classic bacon cheese burger topped with an egg. Nothing special, but it doesn't need to be since this isn't a burger joint. If you're at the bar, try something new off of their craft beer menu. They have a pretty good selection of local beers too which is nice. Even the whiskey options are commendable. Stay clear of the cocktails though, they are much like you would get in an average college town strong but uninspired.

It's a good place for groups and our office will typically come here once a month to socialize after the work week. The food is good. Everyone raves about the wings and they're ok to me. I like smoked meats and the wings meet that expectation. This is a much better place now that it has new owners and was remodeled. The beer selection is good too. It can get pretty loud and that is a turnoff for me. I was debating whether or not to give it four stars but to be honest I'll only come here with coworkers and wouldn't go out of my way to come here just for the food or beverages. That is pretty much my litmus test as to how I rate places I visit.

The food is good. Great, actually. The staff is friendly and my mom and I have gone there twice. The only downside is that they use a pecan grill and peanut oil. I'm allergic to both so I have to take Benadryl beforehand. The burgers are worth it though, so is the homemade ice cream. If I didn't have the allergies I would be going there all the time!

Everything is amazing. From brisket to wings. Sides are awesome too. I could take a bath in their beans. Oh my. Brussel sprouts on point as well. I live two hours away and will make that drive over and over for this food!!!

My boyfriend and I had dinner at The Hideaway last night. I was skeptical because the parking lot was packed. Turns out that Thursday night is a painting party night in one of the rooms. The place is very large with multiple rooms, so don't let a crowded lot discourage you. I had the smoked fried chicken with Mac and cheese and the Brussel sprouts. Delicious! The chicken was sweet and moist! The Mac was wonderful. The sprouts are fried and topped with bacon, goat cheese, and pecans! Oh my!! My boyfriend has the pulled pork with the Mac and the collards. Best collards I have had outside my kitchen. I tend to be very picky about greens. These were wonderfully flavored. The beer selection is great! Mostly bottled as the draught list is short but good and includes a cider. We both had dessert. His peanut butter cheesecake was delicious! I had the lemon squares as I just wanted something small and sweet. They were good but his was better. It's a bit off the beaten track but worth looking for!

Pretty good place to dine for bbq. Decent portion size. We try the pork & brisket, both were delicious. Hidden away in some neighborhood. Never been to the old Jim hideaway. But we're glad to see new owner turn it into a bbq restaurant in much needed odenton area. Will definitely come back ...

Came in today when our work trip got cancelled, and I'm glad we did! I didn't try any food, but they had a great craft beer selection along with great prices on them as well!! Damien, our bartender, was really nice and attentive. I don't live in the area, but will make it a point to stop by when I am!

Overall, fantastic experience each time and I've been three times since they opened. Alright so. Hands down the BEST wings I have ever had. Get them naked, you won't regret it. Big, juicy and full of flavor. I've gotten an order every time I've come. It's almost a meal in itself they are so big. I've also had the pulled pork and brisket. Delicious! The sides were good as well. Good selection of sauces too. I like the classic BBQ and the sweet thai sauce. The atmosphere of the place is that of a neighborhood watering hole where everyone tends to know everyone but The Hideaway has achieved something few places can do: Create a neighborhood place that also has delicious food that steps outside the box - great BBQ with a modern twist but that pays homage to its roots - and a sizable craft beer selection. They've got old reliables like Yuengling and Boh, but they have a bunch of bottled imports and local craft brews. I'm happy with being able to get Hofbrau and some local favorites like Flying Dog and Evolution with my wings. Wish they carried Union Craft, but maybe they'll add more beer in the future! Been to two karaoke nights, one with Juanita on Thursday and Kelley on Tuesday. Both KJs were fun and engaged the crowd. Little more laid back on Tuesday than Thursday but both nights were a good time. I think Kelley's night will be moved to Fridays. A new favorite place of mine. My parents were old regulars of the original Jims back in the 80s. I'm happy to see this place restored and with dedicated new owners taking it in an exciting new direction but still remembering its past. Looking forward to my next visit.

We made our second trip to the Hideaway. Here are our observations: Wings are very good, but if you get ranch dressing it is very watery. Brisket is excellent. Pasta in the Mac and Cheese was way overcooked and mushy. Chili is excellent. Frito Pie is good. Crab dip had very little crab. Hot dogs are good (but drain the sauerkraut it made the bun too soggy). Parking was hard to find, but restaurant was not that full. Could be a deal breaker. Wait staff was very friendly and go out of their way to be helpful, but disappeared at times for long periods. Bob the owner stopped at our table and was a joy to talk with. Lots of potential, this could be a regular place to go, or another local spot that falls short.

The food is outstanding at The Hideaway! The menu has great selection of BBQ items: Texas brisket, Memphis pulled pork, Carolina Ribs. We had the pulled pork - succulent and the Texas Brisket - smoky and juicy. The sides - to die for! Best collards I've ever had. Great atomsphere and not crowded on a Friday nite.

Maryland just upped its BBQ game up...way up! I'm an Okie Army spouse who's lived all over. I've had BBQ from Georgia to Kansas City to Memphis and all across Texas. We've eaten some of the best most renowned BBQ joints in the country...like the Salt Lick outside of Austin and Texas Pride outside San Antonio. So, we are picky. This is the third BBQ place we have tried since moving to Maryland since last summer. Hands down, the best! My husband had the Ultimate pulled pork sandwich and I had the smoked brisket sandwich. Both were so tender and awesome. Not a bad bite! Three different sauces for you to choose from to dress it, from sweet to spicy and smokey. And the sides! The fresh cut fries with truffle oil, Parmesan and a garlic aioli dipping sauce...yum! Roasted brussel sprouts with bacon and goat cheese. Yes please! Oh, and the beer...lots of local brews to choose from. I had the Flying Dog Blood Orange IPA. Delicious. And the owner, Bob, stopped by to chat and check on us. Nice. It was a Tuesday night, but the service was lightening fast.

The place is called The Hideway for a reason,it is not near a main road.I had the wings and the pulled pork sandwich. Both were amazing. The pork was smoked perfectly and the wings were nice and crisp. The service was horrible, not the server fault she was the bartender server to our 12 top and server to a bunch of other tables. They need more people on staff. The server knew she sucked and said sorry many times.really was not her fault management needs to step up.That said I will go back to try the bacon cheeseburger between two grilled cheese sandwiches sounds amazing. And I wish they would sell shirts because the slogan is great

For as much hype as was generated over the grand re-opening, we came in with pretty high expectations. Unfortunately, I can't say our visit was anything exceptional. The parking lot is still all gravel and potholes, although it looks like some of the biggest have been filled in. The inside, on the bar side, has been partially redone, by things like the original, patched and rough-looking concrete floors are a stark contrast to the newer additions. It is chilly inside, so bring a jacket or sweater if you get cold easily. The service was friendly, but slow, slooooooowwwww, which was surprising, given the number of staff that were on the floor. They seemed pretty confused a good part of the time and kept gathering in groups to sort out orders repeatedly sent to the wrong tables. Our drinks were served in small mason jars, which ties into the southern theme. I would have personally preferred a larger glass or a more attentive server, because they went empty pretty quickly and sat empty for more than 20 minutes, before we were finally able to flag someone down. Hopefully, it's because they just opened and their servers will get better with time. Food-wise, we ordered two different types of wings - Naked and Old Bay, and the tomato soup. The soup was mediocre. The Old Bay wings were extremely salty and the Naked wings had decent seasoning, but about half the batch had very dry meat. We declined to order an entree, after trying the appetizers, because at almost $20 per plate, it didn't seem worth it when taking in to consideration the wait times and that the food we had already had being more miss than hit. The karaoke was pretty awesome, made better with the flat screen televisions and stage. We definitely miss the activities that used to be available here, like the pool tables, because the acoustics of the place make it really hard to carry on a conversation over the music, and there isn't really anything else to do. All in all, we will be back for karaoke, as long as Juanita is the KJ, but we will probably pass on the food. -EDIT-: I unfortunately had to further add to this, because our sever decided to leave his number on the check for one of the girls at our table and YELLED AT HER on the way out, to make sure she got it. This after he sat down at our booth and tried to make small talk, in the middle of our visit, and had told that it wasn't okay that he did so. Majorly unprofessional and inappropriate.

So after a very long drawn out wait of 'we're gonna open' then, 'nope, not yet,' The Hideaway is FINALLY open. Lots of oohs and aahs about the up and coming menu, but in all honesty, it wasn't as good as it was set out to be. My wings were super salty. As in, my tongue wonders what the hell I ever did to it to deserve the sodium abrasion it was dealt. And I love salty food, so that says something. Furthermore, was NOT expecting the price to be nearly $20 per person for food. Eek! I mean, it's not a ritzy place by any means of the imagination. The menu seems to be a bit parallel to Mission BBQ, as in a lot of things are smoked for hours on end before cooked, braised, broiled, baked or whatever else you fancy. But the price is right? No. No it's not. Now karaoke...that's where you can have some good juju come from this establishment. I came here on a Thursday night, and Karaoke by Juanita was killing it! It turns out, there is quite the crowd that follows her, and they are loyal to her, no matter how badly the price doesn't match the over-zealously seasoned dishes. I'd come back just for the karaoke for sure. But--will I eat here again? MAYBE. As in maybe after I down pint after pint after sweet 16 fluid and very vulnerable ounces of brew. But it will only to satisfy a hunger only a drunk man could conjure up.

Place is a bit off the beaten path. Down the road from the Odenton MARC station and worth it to drive an extra few blocks off the main drag. You can tell they put a decent amount of money into the renovation as the place hits all the right notes for a bbq restaurant / sports bar . Ordered "the Ultimate" - pulled pork sandwich, with cole slaw, on a brioche roll tonight. According to my bartender (at the small front bar) they smoke the pork for 14 hours and I do believe her as the pork was very tender. No short cuts taken here. Delicious all the way around. Mashed potatoes were pretty darn good as well. Could have been a larger quantity side as I was still a little hungry afterwards. Also ordered a Lagunitas IPA on tap. Beer is mighty tasty if you like IPAs. Didn't get a chance to ask how many ounces my glass (a smallish mason jar) held but it seemed for a $5 beer that it was a little on the petit side...maybe my eyes were deceiving me as I didn't have my reading glasses on me. ;) Bartender was very friendly and attentive. Only thing that does keep this place from getting the coveted 5 star rating is that I think they could knock about a dollar or two off the menu prices (on most of the items) as it is a little bit more than I'd typically care to spend on bbq. A bit cheaper and I'd probably be stopping here once a week as I live in the area! Give it a shot and I bet you'll enjoy it. Odenton needs more places like this. Good food, great place to watch the big game and I hear they have karaoke on Thursday and Friday nights, bands on Saturdays as well as a Brunch on Sunday mornings. I wish the new owners of the Hideaway the best of luck! Welcome to Odenton!

This place was pretty good. All the food came out quick and hot. I got the Brisket Entree. It was really tender and flavored well. The mac and cheese is white cheese and has really good flavor. Don't get the green beans, I didn't taste it but everyone else at my table did and nobody liked it. There is a long list of beers to choose from, unfortunately when we went they were out of a few. They have a lot of seasonal beers so it's not surprising that they would be out of some. If you don't know, they meat comes out dry and the BBQ sauces are at the table so you just apply your own. I would suggest getting an appetizer like the fries and trying out all the BBQ sauces first. They have a molasses one and one called Knocked Up that is real good. I would definitely come back again. The menu is varied so there are different choices to make each time. I'm excited to try some of their other option.

Great service, awesome food. Grabbed some take-out. 1/2 rack ribs with the sauce of my choice. Ridiculously tender, easily separated from the bone. Hush puppies were great, potato salad awesome. Will definitely return!

Brisket was excellent, menu was temporary but Bob (the owner) greeted every table and had a copy of the full menu that will be a treat. I will be back service was great. Server(Autumn) was awesome, she rocks. I also had the wings, hideaway salad, all excellent. This place is going to be a great time. I highly recommend you check it out.

We went here last night after seeing a link on Facebook. You would never know this place is here unless you see an ad or someone tells you about it. Even as I turned onto the street I was left wondering 'Wait, there's a restaurant back here?" This BBQ place has something none of the others around have figured out.....the sauces. Every sauce I tried was fantastic, and all have their place. In addition, the side dishes were the best I've had anywhere around. Full of flavor, and everything is house made. The bbq beans have a ton of meat in them, and the collared greens were one of the best around. As far as the meat, it all tasted really good. Their rub is absolutely fantastic, the best around by far, but their actual smoking methods didn't live up to Mission or Kloby's. The ribs were falling off the bone, which some people really like, but I prefer a nice smoke ring, and a little pull. The texture was that of a boiled rib. The pulled pork was a bigger success in this area. And the smoked fried chicken was the best thing we had by far. Perfect smokiness throughout, and fried to give the skin a perfect crispness and a bit of char. The full menu wasn't available yet, but I'm excited to come back and see what else they are offering (I'm hoping smoked turkey makes an appearance, it's my bbq standby). Also the hush puppies are still on their way (they don't have enough fryer space to keep up with the chicken and wings and other fried foods, and have enough room to make hush puppies for every order). We tried the pecan pie for dessert, and while good, was pretty heavy on the rum. I don't think I'd get it again. We'll definitely be back soon to sample some more. This place is off to a great start. Tip to the management.... work on training your staff a bit more. Service was friendly, but didn't seem well informed when we asked questions.

I gave the Hideaway three stars for several reasons that will be included in my review. It is located in Odenton opposite the Marc train station In did like the location as the name is fitting. I took a few guests and we were seated immediately, which was a good start. At the time service was a little slow but they had a constant crowd so I initially gave them the benefit of doubt but that passed as I saw employees watching television and chatting with each other instead of taking care of orders. I ordered two appetizers which were both awesome. The crab dip is excellent and the smoked wings are a force to be reckoned with. My group seemed to like the food as well but then it took another 40 minutes to get the entrée. We were having fun but I was not because I ordered the Fatty Melt which was unique being a hamburger between two grilled cheese sandwiches. Mine was cold but I did not send it back because I was hungry. The waitress told us the wait came from the kitchen being slammed with to go orders but really. I guess she assumed that I never bullshit but my lie would have been better. The sweet tea is some of the best I have had in this area but the mac and cheese I ordered is just noodles and watered down sauce. My group all ordered smoked fried chicken and loved it and the baked beans. I think I will order to go next time. BBQ sauce for me was the Knocked Up and Pomegranate. Awesome sauce!

This place used to be a dive bar, but they have really improved. The staff is fantastic, they have a great bar selection, and they have brisket. Being from Texas that is always a great thing.

The food was good, I recommend the wings, but they were the only hot food we were served. Cold fries, cold Mac and cheese, cold ribs, you get the idea....

The naked wings are the best wings I've ever had. Must go back soon! The pulled pork sandwich was moist and tasty. The fries are nice too. The chef stopped by our table during our lunch visit to check in on the food. All of the staff is super friendly.

  • G K.

Excellent food and great service! The wings and hushpuppies are awesome. I mean REALLY good. Probably the best I've every tasted in my life. Brisket and ribs had just the right amount of tenderness...delicious. I didn't taste the fries but the kiddos loved them. The greens were tasty. Potato salad was good. Bourbon sauce is interesting. There's a nice kids menu for children with take-home cups. The portions were good and the prices are decent. Great place to bring friends from out of town.

This was our second night in a row coming here. I do not write reviews very often but I felt like this place definitely deserved one. It is about a 25 minute drive for us to come out here but well worth it. The atmosphere is awesome. Nice big flat screen tvs, amazing food, great service. I will be back very soon!

We waited for them to really get up and running before we went. Great decision. Service was great, friendly and casual. 2 sided extensive beer list including some on closeout! Crab dip, I swear they stole my favorite recipe . Old bay wings, smoked and fried WOW just WOW! Even the blue cheese was good not the typical out of a tub, it tasted like a nice buttermilk dressing. My son had a fatty melt, basically a burger served between two grilled cheese sandwiches. Hubby did the sampler, he travels and eats all over the country, says it was some of the best BBQ he's eaten. I had ribs, dry rubbed like I like them, fall of the bone good. Sides were all so tasty! Potato salad like my mom's. Collards with just the right sour taste and shaved smoked meat. Hush puppies were normal but the honey butter they come with makes it a tasty treat! Prices all fair for the serving size. Can't wait to go back and try the fried chicken, smoked and battered sounds yummy.

Very happy to find such a neat place so close to Columbia! We stopped in and ordered lots of things to try. The pierogis stuffed with pulled pork were to die for as well as the best wings around! Hubby loved the wings the best and said they were perfect naked. I loved them too but the 3 different BBQ sauces on the table made them even better for me. Our entrees were delivered hot and we were pleasantly surprised. Hubby got the beef brisket and said it was great and I loved the tender pulled pork sandwich. Fries were crispy and awesome with Parmesan cheese and truffle oil but my favorite side was the grilled Brussel sprouts with bacon and goat cheese! Our waitress was wonderful and Bob the owner/ Master griller made us feel right at home. Glad to find such a gold mine. We will be back again but next time with all the kids too.

This out of the way place tucked into 'somewhere in Odenton' Maryland is a true hidden gem. The Hideaway is a bit difficult to find but it is well worth the search. The food is excellent, the staff extremely friendly and helpful, and the prices are very reasonable. I only wish we lived closer so that we could make this our 'home' restaurant.

Got the ribs. They were perfect. The wings are awesome. But you have to get smoked fried chicken.

    (5)
  • Marc C.

Pretty disappointing. The ribs were dry and the sides were exceedingly small. Ordered a rack and a half of ribs and an order of brisket. Also some fries. Came with six sides. The sides were shockingly small. The best description of the fries is cold and dead. Yuck. The brisket portion was very small and pretty fatty. The ribs were mostly bone. For around $75, not remotely worth it. It wasnt terrible, just not very good, especially in light of the price and really small portion sizes. For all the good reviews, we just didnt get it. Might come back to try the wings since everyone raves about them, but the rest was definitely not a repeat. On the positive side, the staff was very friendly and the place was neat and appeared well maintained. Too bad. Expected much more from the food and was definitely disappointed.

Very good. Nice char in the wings with several sauces to accompany. Pulled pork sandwich was excellent and great beer selection. First visit and will return.

Excellent BBQ. The brisket is tender and falls apart. It has a great bark. The pulled pork falls apart and is juicy. The ribs and wings are also very good. The most surprising part were the Brussels sprouts. Delicious and I am hard to please when it comes to veggies. The dry rub makes it so no sauce was necessary. The Mac and cheese was not great but not bad either. Overall it's a great atmosphere with great food and I'll definitely be back!

After seeing the ad for this establishment for some time now in the base newspaper, I decided to give it a try. Glad I did. I had the sampler which provided a serving of chicken, ribs, pulled pork and brisket. For sides I had the collard greens and baked beans. The ribs and chicken were absolutely delicious. The pork and brisket were fairly good too but just could not stand up to the ribs and chicken. The baked beans were average. But those collard greens were the best I've ever had outside my mother's kitchen. I could eat them everyday! It's a nice spot tucked away near the Odenton train station. Lots of seating. I think I've found a new favorite spot in Odenton.

Not run of the mill barbeque. Excellent food with unexpected added touches - the roasted Brussels sprout appetizer is really good. Fast attentive service at a very reasonable price.

Very good BBQ joint for the area. Excellent service and very nice ambiance. Needs to serve up a more traditional style of menu (no plates, family style, white bread and pickles) if its going to serve as a MD substitute for the known BBQ joints in the South. Very good place with a whole lot of potential that's worth a look if you're in the area.

First time going here sine the remodel and name change. I have to say it was much needed and for the better. The decor is average, sports bar/karaoke/live music...trying to be a lot of things. However, it is clean, well laid out and not as dark as it once was. That said, let's get to why you should really go here. THE FOOD. Menu has been revamped to be based on BBQ. In word, the BBQ is really good.....smoked for many hours over pecan wood in the smokers affectionately named "Jack and Diane". I had the pulled pork today with one of their in house made sauces and it was money. Throw in the fries with truffle oil sprinkled with fresh Parmesan cheese and you have a winner. Glad to find a contender against Mission BBQ closer to home. If you remember the former place, "Jim's Hideaway", forget it; it's gone. So if you never heard of it, put the address in the GPS and get over there.

Got off the Odenton MARC stop and was hungry. Cortana said this was close and awesome so I stopped by. Such a hidden gem. Great atmosphere, great service, and really good food. Prices are good only because the food is as well. Well off the beaten path, you need to make the trip to check this place out. They're supposed to get outdoor seating and seafood soon too!

I really didn't want to go out to dinner this night but my wife convinced me to go. Every so often the wife is right. I love good BBQ and have eaten it in almost every state. I also have two BBQs. A ceramic for smoking and regular grill. Of course I always use natural briquettes. I do know about good BBQ and this is it! The wings are the absolute best I have ever had. We had them naked and I don't think anything would make them better. They were so good I ordered 2 more to give to neighbors. They agreed. I did the sampler to check out everything. Ribs great. Pulled pork fantastic. Brisket was only thing that was not great. It was little dry and I did not see the smoke ring. My wife had the California devil wiener and said it was great. Tasted mother in laws tomato soup with grilled cheese croutons and thought good. Sides of red skinned potato salad and hush puppies very good. I will definitely be going here often. I have lived in Maryland for 20 years and have finally found my go-to restaurant.

They have put a ton of work into the renovation - 2 bars, lots of TV's and karaoke a few nights a week and GREAT BBQ! It was REALLY good and very, very busy but service was fast and friendly with a smile! Don had brisket and I had pulled pork. Sides were fries, mac n cheese, brussels sprouts with bacon + feta cheese (yum!!!) & cole slaw. Dessert for me was home made key lime pie. Yum! BBQ sauces are made in house, too (choice of honey, smokey or a horseradish based white BBQ sauce). Check out this new hidden jem in Odenton. Website isn't quite up yet but the FB is working - facebook.com/TheHideaway…

Took the parents there tonight so there were 6 of us total - aged 9 to 64. Everyone left happy! On our plates were the sampler, tomato soup with grilled cheese croutons, pork sliders, brisket sandwich and pork sandwich - all really, really good! The brisket was so tender it just fell apart. The only thing that wasn't a "hit" was the mashed potatoes. We won't order them as a side again, but all of our other sides were great. Nice to have a local place here in Odenton. We will definitely be back again!! And, we met the owner, Bob, and he was so kind and gracious - nice to have that small-town feel!

Went here with my family and was seated very quickly in the middle section of the restaurant. At least 5 tables were seated after us and placed their orders after us. They all received their drinks, appetizers, meal and desserts and left. We were still waiting on our food and we did not order any appetizers. Between the 3 of us, we ordered the smoked fried chicken, brussel sprouts, mac n cheese, greens, mashed potatoes. Black bottom cheese cake and apple pie. The chicken was good although they forgot to add the seasoning to my other 2 pieces so that was frustrating. My daughter ordered a chili dog and fries. The chili dog was too spicy for her so we shared our food with her because we were all starving after waiting so long. The greens were way too salty and vinegary. The mashed potatoes and gravy were decent. The brussels sprouts were dry and awful. The cheesecake was decent but nothing you couldn't find in any grocery store. The apple pie was not good, was hard and tasted like that weird refrigeration taste where the aromas of other food sinks into your food when it's uncovered. We just ate what we could and left the rest. A male manager came and went to every single table in a full room 2 or 3 times except ours. He chatted and joked with everyone and asked how they were doing but never once came to our table. He just kept stepping around us. We had been waiting over 1 1/2 hours for our food. Although we tried to get his attention, he just kept walking past us and paid us no mind. Since we were pretty much the only black folks in the room, we couldn't help but feel we had stumbled into the wrong place. We asked our waitress and one of the servers if a manager could come and speak with us. Finally a female manager came out and didn't give much of an explanation and only offered us free desserts which by the way took another half hour so we just asked our waitress if she could pack it to go. It just felt like the female manager was trying to minimize this unacceptable service. I wouldn't have thought much of it if it weren't for so many others who came in after us and left. I wanted to leave after the first hour of waiting but my husband decided we should wait since we had traveled so far to try this place out but being in the food business ourselves, we treat all of our customers with the utmost kindness and respect. Never returning again to this place and I shared my experience with my co-workers only to find out we were not the only one's treated this way.

Excellent food, very clean and super friendly staff! The fatty melt cheeseburger and fried Brussels sprouts were amazing! Our server, Jennifer, was so friendly and accommodating. The pitmaster even came around and check on our food order. Definitely will be going back!

This place doesn't look big from outside but very spacious inside and packed on Friday night! Second time here in a week already! Their food is addictive! Smoked in house, fabulous sauces on the side, generous in portion, my favorite is tied between the ribs and smoked chicken. The brisket is very good, and I usually don't like briskest. Pulled pork is the best I have had. The sides are also gourmet, I love their fried-to-crisp Brussels sprouts! Can't wait to come back to try more of their dishes!

Newly opened BBQ place. I had the wings( naked) and they were great. They have there own BBQ sauces and they are some of the best I have tasted. I will definitely be back.

We were long time and loyal customers of the original Jim's Hideaway. We were sad to see it sold and the menu change. We decided to check it out though. Despite plenty of seating in the main restaurant area we were led to the (clearly unfinished) bar for our FAMILY to eat in. We didn't have a waitress. We had a bartender, who made it known he was not a waiter (and there were plenty of wait staff to help us). Our appetizer was unimpressive ("nachos" that were actually waffle fries). Sides are a la carte, and ours didn't come until AFTER we were finished our main meal. The Frito pie was JUST that. A shallow soup bowl full of fritos and MAYBE 1 TB of meat and cheese on the bottom. I never got my baked beans, which is unfortunate since I was starved, since my meal was so small. I realize they just opened and have a lot of kinks to iron out, but it's a LOT of kinks. From unfinished decor, to untrained staff, missing food items and small, cheap portioned food items... But, hey, the dessert case looked good. (We didn't have any money left to try it though, since the small portioned meal was so expensive.)

The service was good. The meats were yummy but the sides were a little off. Overall pretty good place, nice and cozy I just thought the food would be a little better.

What a metamorphosis, a true caterpillar to butterfly story. We visited today and my memory of the old Jim's Hideaway lingered in my mind and how it had declined in recent years. But I told my wife to keep an open mind as we arrived. The same old dirt parking lot was there as well as a number of aspects of the old building. "BUT!!!" Then we went inside. I was shocked for a moment. It is nothing like the old Jim's. It is new, open, fresh, and clean. We were greeted by a staff that excelled at friendliness. Jenna, our waitress, was exceptional in all aspects of customer service and took the time to tell us part of the metamorphosis story of the restaurant, Bob's (the owner) story and his year of training in South Carolina with pit masters, his love of his trade, the home made desserts and breads, the top-of-the-line pit, and much more. For our meals I got the Texas Brisket Sandwich with sides of Brussels sprouts and collard greens. My wife got the pulled pork sandwich with a side of homemade, fresh cut fries minus the final toss in the truffle oil and such. The sandwiches were excellent on the brioche bread. The brisket passed the pull test and there was enough bark (burn ends) to lend to the overall flavor profile. The bread was soft allowing a decent bite without squishing out all the contents. I think next time I will get the slaw on the side. It was a little to running for my personal preference. My wife's sandwich was equally favorable as she said upon or leaving, "I think that was one of the best pulled pork sandwiches I have in a while." The Brussels sprouts are gaining a reputation. They are nothing like you've had before and the collard greens are flavored like nothing I've had before. I was born and lived in Georgia a long time and I've had many a bowl of collard greens. I do think I tasted butter in them, but I'm not for sure. If you are looking for a side of greens or veggies to help cut calories, these two might not be the ones to choose, but the serving is not so large that it really matters. They are sides after all, right? Make sure you ask for ALL the sauces. Our table had a six-pack cardboard carton with three of the sauces in it, but Jenna let us know there was three more to choose from. Speaking of the carton, I do not like that. It is rather a tall carton and you can only get the sauce bottles out by grabbing them at the top. This means a number of hands could have grabbed the top over the course of a day. Also, in the carton was the salt and pepper. We thought it odd that no table had salt and pepper, until we discovered by the end of our meal that they were also in the carton but totally out of view. Also there are no labels (at least on ours) on the sauce bottles so knowing what sauce you were trying could be a mystery. I just squeezed small samples onto my side plate to taste them all. I am not a big sweet sauce fan so I preferred the Carolina vinegar based as well as the Louisiana hot sauce. My wife is a sweet sauce fan and loved the Bourbon Maple I think it was. The Hideaway is also modern in the way your order is taken and your bill is paid. An electronic tablet is used to put in the order and then to swipe your card to pay. It is quick and efficient. Any special request are also easily serviced such as my wife asking for her coleslaw to be on the side. We don't drink alcohol, but the bar area was very nice looking. The display of beverages was back-lite and modern looking. We did not get a chance to browse the desserts display but passed it on the way in. From what I saw of it the desserts looked like something I will be exploring in the future. I did catch a cheese cake positioned temptingly in the front. The Hideaway is poised to be a 5 star in my opinion. There a only a couple of small things keeping me from giving it a 5 such as the sauce carton situation, lack of labels on the sauce bottles, a coleslaw a little to thin for my liking, and music that was a tad to loud (not excessively) just a little. These are all minor details and should not distract you from coming. Please do, and spread the word to all those old time Odenton/Severn citizens .... Jim's has been reborn. I hope to see Groupon or LivingSocial deals for this place soon as well as the sauces available for purchase and home use.

Excellent all around! Dinner, drinks and dessert for four and they didn't miss a beat. We will be returning to try their chili dogs but this time around opted for the pit beef in its many variations. The craft beer was also really great, with selections ranging from PA to England and Germany. Don't miss out on the peanut butter cheesecake, it comes with reeses cups in it and even the gelato orderer in our group knew it was the right choice. 5 stars!

Wanted to love this place! In all fairness I've heard nothing but rave reviews which had my expectations high upon arrival. Seated promptly, waitress friendly, and the menu was very intriguing. We got the queso appetizer which was fine, but not something I'd order again. Queso was served nacho style with the cheese poured on top which made it soggy quickly. Flavor was good but cheese was heavily smoked which was just not my cup of tea. If you like smoked cheese, it may be yours :) Hubby and I both got pulled pork, and my 9 year old got chicken sliders from the kids menu. Our pork sandwiches came out on rolls that were so hard on the bottom, you couldn't bite them. Dissapointing as they looked fresh and inviting. We were offered another roll when the waitress came back to check on us, but we had already eaten more than half the meat and didn't want to wait for new rolls. It was offered to be corrected to their credit. Brussel sprout side was really good and different. Slaw was ok flavor, but slightly warm. The pork was tender and delicious but we both ate it without the roll which made it less filling. In house sauces were great and took the meat over the edge. I would come back just for the spicy sweet pomegranate bbq sauce. The kids sliders were really good and I was a little jealous of my daughters $5 meal which seemed to surpass ours. They had a great dessert case we spied walking in. Since we both were left a little hungry, we asked about the selection. "What don't we have?" was the answer, and we were directed to get up and go take a look in the case. A dessert list with prices would be a nice addition. We got a slice of Pina colada cake, a slice of cheesecake and a Gelato to go. Upon receiving our bill, I found out the Pina colada cake was $8.95 which was the same price as the pulled pork with sides. The cake was ok, but the price was offputting. Again, my daughter fared the best with the flavorful gelato. Staff very friendly and we would love to give it another shot. Some opening kinks are still being worked out I'm sure. The plusses and few bright spots of the meal would have me give it another go in the future to try the wings and brisket which I continue to hear are out of this world.

My order was to go so this review is on the food only. The flavor of the Texas Brisket and bake beans were great, the red potato salad could have used more flavor (maybe some sweet relish and mustard?) for my palate. Staff seemed welcoming and friendly.

The bbq meats are AWESOME. Period. Hands down. That is what keeps me recommending this place. Sides are uniformly delish. Tried Frito Pie the first time and it was terrific; the 2nd time it was watery and both appetizers (Frito pie & French fries) took 25+ mins to come out of the kitchen with the fries being stone cold. Meh.... The "front house" staff (hostesses) are definitely jv. They don't seem to know where empty tables are, they don't ask what kind of table the customers want (booth, table, patio, inside, bar), this past Sunday the hostess didn't tell us that ONLY brunch was being served. The place veritably screams for some consistent, experienced, pleasant, adult leadership at the hostess stand. I'm all for giving young people a chance but these young people's inexperience is seriously off-putting. And that has been consistent at every visit to The Hideaway so far. Did I mention that the bbq meats are out of this world??? Bob knows his way with smoking meats but why make it difficult to become loyal to the place when the hostessing is so messed up?? Back of the house - awesome!!! Front of the house - good luck!!

The Hideaway is an appropriate name. It is tucked away, but follow your nose it will lead you right to it. Hands down the best black bean burger. I would suggest a veggie sampler. I LOVE the Brussel Sprouts, fries and baked beans. I wish there was a way to get a plate of two or three veggies as a platter. Julius rocks!!!! If you are lucky enough to get him as a waiter, get ready to laugh and be pampered! Ohhh and I can not forget karaoke on Friday and Saturday nights. Get some food and drinks, bring some good friends and sing your favorite songs.

First of all, excellent customer service. My husband and I were looking somewhere close to where we lived to have a simple meal and had been told about this place from a couple of friends. It was just around 5pm-ish when we got there and there was only one other couple inside the bar area. We decided to sit outside on the patio because the weather was beautiful. Meisha was our server and she was completely great. We told her it was our first time there and she immediately introduced us to the menus and the popular items on the menu. She even brought us out some sauces to try. OH, and last but not least, she always came to check on us and make sure our drinks were full throughout our time there. Okay, so these Hideaway Pulled Pork Nachos are so FREAKING FANTASTIC. Personally, I will remove the beans at the bottom next time, but besides that, still a freaking 5/5 on how good they were. Now, mind you, they use waffle fries and not actual nachos, but it is served nacho style with cheddar cheese, pico de gallo, and guacamole, sour cream, jalapeno slices, and pulled pork on top. Get a bit of everything in ONE bite, you will not regret it. The serving is huge, my husband and I barely got through it. We ALSO ordered the Hideaway Sampler that had wings, pulled pork, brisket, and ribs (definitely couldn't finish that, but we sampled it all and it was just too yummy). After that, I can't imagine any of their menu items being less than awesome. They have really great drink specials and happy hour as well! Come to the hideaway! You might lose cell phone service, but it will make you focus on this little hidden gem in Odenton that much more!

I remember when this place was called Jim's hideaway. . I heard about it though my coworkers but never had a chance to try it out. Then l assume under new management it became just the hideaway. . Which name fits the establishment well. Ok I'm going to just put it out there. After a day full of over indulging at the beer festival it was suggested let's go have some dinner at the hideaway and I was all for it. We arrived around 4:30pm and was acknowledged and seated right away. Our waitress was there within minutes offering water in the mason jars. How cute, at least I thought so. It's definitely different and l love different! I really was not feeling beer because we had just left from a beer festival. So l wanted something different so l tried the drink that had fresh strawberries in it and vodka. Don't start me a lieing. Hey l can't remember. Because of the beer festival. Hahaha it was a lemonade drink. and l must say it was refreshing and the strawberries was very good. Next was the appetizer which was the old bay wings which came with carrots and celery and blue cheese dressing. I poured some of that knock up sauce on it and wowee. Next was the main course meal. I was really hungry so l decided to try the hideaway Sampler which was very good and topped off with that knock up sauce l have to say it was Delicious! ! The food was plentiful and all i could do was sample little by little. It was very filling and l couldn't finish it all so l took some home. The GREEN'S was AWESOME! The red potato salad was Awesome! I was really surprised because l'm really picky about my potato salad but it was pleasantly good. I will definitely be returning to this place to try out some of their other dishes. See you soon! Last but l haven't forgotten to acknowledge that our waitress stayed on top of things and was very attentive to our needs and she also recommended her favorite sauce was the knocked up. I have to agree with her on that.

I went to the hideaway after reading the reviews on yelp. This place really is hidden away. I swore the GPS was tripping but of course we found it. It is a casual spot with a bar area to watch sports. It's very dim in there but it wasn't a bother. Now on to the important stuff: 1) Nisha (sp?) was our waitress and she was outstanding. Very informative and attentive. She picked our drinks for us as we were indecisive and gave us suggestions on our food which we went with. 2) the Crab dip is AMAZING. Idk but that thing's main ingredient is deliciousness and heaven. The Crab dip set the bar real high. Oh and the bread was so flaky and soft and perfect. 3) Our main dish: the Hideaway Sampler. Which should be renamed to: Meat Heaven Platter because it showcased how DELICIOUSLY WELL this place can make meat. Absolutely amazing. 4) Our sides and salad were pretty good as well. I will be going back and I definitely recommend this place for dinner. And Crab dip. Get the Crab dip.

Over the last two months I've made four trips to the new 'Hideaway'. Each trip was excellent and better than the previous one. The inside has been completely redesigned, opened up, and everything looks great. A new dessert area was added and the Bar was cleaned up, too. For appetizers you should start out with either the 'Award Winning Wings' or the 'Pulled Pork Pierogies'. The wings have a great smokey flavor and are fabulous. And, if your feeling brave, check out the Armadillo Eggs! These are HUGE jalapeños filled pulled brisket and cheese, battered and fried. And when I say HUGE, I mean it's enough for three people. There are several salads offered but the only one I've tried is "Feel the Beet" and with everything else I've ordered at the 'Hideaway', Fabulous! The "Memphis Pulled-Pork", "Hideaway Sampler", and "Smoked Fried Chicken" are all excellent items to try. I've also had the "BBQ Half Chicken" but this one isn't what one would expect with the name 'BBQ' ... this is a smoked Chicken, not a BBQ Chicken. But the one entree that stands out among all the choices is the "Off-the-Hook Whiskey Salmon". Fiery sweet and makes you want more. Don't forget the sides ... M-m-mac n' cheese, Red potato salad, Brussels sprouts and Collard greens. Try them all as you won't regret it. Finally there is dessert ... stop over at the Dessert area and say 'hi' to Mike. Mike has great offerings to include Ice Cream and speciality coffees. So go check out the new 'Hideaway'.

This was truly a tucked away, hidden gem. We kind of pigged out when we went. We ordered the Fatty Melt (!!!!!), brussles, the smoke fried chicken, and a brownie with a scoop of chocolate bacon ice cream. YES, BACON. The desserts are freshly made. The scoop was perfect. This is one of the few places that actually give you a good size of ice cream for the amount of brownie. Actually, they gave us a huge scoop. We made it worth while by splitting the meal in half so we both could try a piece of the goodness. ATMOSPHERE This was a nice quite place with indoor and outdoor seating. The only downfall outside was the bugs, but what do you expect. The indoor restaurant seemed like three restaruants rolled in one. They had two bars and each area had a different theme. One of the nights, I noticed they do a Country & Rock night with a live band if I'm not mistaken. This place is well worth the visit. If you go, let me know your thoughts!

This place is literally in the cut! If you don't know about it...you won't know! My friend lives in the area and suggested we go here for dinner. I was surprised that my newbie yelper tingly senses didn't detect this spot! Onto the review! Parking: Plenty of parking...there's even an area for motorcycles... or maybe they just parked there(?) Service: We were acknowledged and greeted by the hostess who seated us immediately. Then, we waited...and waited for our waiter to arrive. He took so long that the hostess noticed so she came over and took our drink orders. We waited some more, THEN our waiter came by. This was his theme for the night...absenteeism. lol Food: We had the naked wings for an appetizer. These wings were seasoned so well! What do they use?! Seasoned well, and crispy around the edges just how I like them. My friend also ordered the tomato soup which comes with cut up pieces of a grilled cheese sandwich instead of the regular croutons. WIN!! I ordered the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. The chicken was seasoned and fried like the appetizer wings were. They aren't battered like the down home southern fried chicken. No ma'am...these are different. They had that crispy skin and the flavor made its way through to the bone! The mashed potatoes with gravy...yumm!!! I was expecting the mac and cheese to have an elevated flavor profile, but it was bland. But hey... the chicken made up for it. Random tid bit: There was a stage in the back of the room that we were in for live music. I also heard that they have karaoke nights. All in all, I'd say that this is one of those down-home feeling neighborhood spots that I'd definitely come back to. The service we had wasn't the greatest, but not a deal breaker.

Service was exemplary, food was not and wow - like night and day, from my previous review. How can this be? Did their Chef call out sick? Was this a new cook in training? On a positive and forgiving note, my original entrée was comped, dessert was free and 10% was deducted from the bill (a special thanks to the restaurant manager). Our waiter, Freddie, did everything possible to ensure that my dining experience was a pleasurable one and this alone, deserves mention. Off to the food. An appetizer of "Award Winning Wings," were good. Char-grilled, savory/sweet rub, perfectly cooked - tasty, indeed. From there, we go downhill and fast. A nice-sized portion of half a rack of ribs arrived, accompanied by my requested mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. From the first bite on, I could not eat the ribs. The meat was extremely dry. It was as if I was eating a slab of beef jerky, heavily spiced and slathered in a thick, overly spiced rub. And what happened to those lovely mashed potatoes? Perhaps my memory is fading (which I'll admit if that's the case), but I didn't recall the tang in them, previously. I remember a mash that one gets during a holiday dinner - milk, butter, more butter, potatoes and lumps. This is not what was laid before me. Too much sour cream, buttermilk - who knows? And those brussel sprouts were barely cooked, stir-fried. They were so bitter and nearly raw. My entrée and sprouts left the table and were replaced by my burnt burger. With a mound of ketchup, it was then edible.

We gave it a 2nd shot tonight. Got the ribs again, green beans and brussel sprouts for sides. Wife got the chicken with baked beans and mac and cheese . Kids loved the mac and cheese; wife loved the appetizer wings . Ribs were definitely fall off the bone this time.

Great place for stuff that probably isn't that good for you. We need more places like this. We were a group of 8, ages ranging from 3 to 69, and they satisfied all of us. They use pecan wood for smoking the meats. The owner (and pitmaster) actually took me back where the wood is stored to show me the stacks of pecan. Superb flavor! There is a lot to choose from on the menu, so after much thought I picked the St. Louis ribs, fries, and green beans. The ribs were tender and full of smoky, spicy flavor. The fries are unique and delicious. Even the green beans were special. The group had a variety of dishes ranging from mac and cheese to smoked and fried chicken. Everyone was pleased with their order. Desserts were delicious. Eddie, our server, was outstanding. It was a really busy night, but Eddie never missed a step, seeing to our every request. The owner stopped by twice to make sure everything was going well. Parking is a bit of an issue if you don't get there a bit early. This place is apparently very popular. I highly recommend The Hideaway to all who love smoked meats and stuff that isn't that good for you.

Overall this place has a lot of potential! Great vibe, lots of TVs and some good dishes that just need some tweaking here and there to make the dishes stand out. It was hard to figure out if I should give this place 2 or 3 stars but when I considered that the bad outweighed the good and I won't be coming back...I decided two stars it is since I don't like it enough to come back. ###The Good### We had the Hideaway burger and Texas Brisket Burger both came with 1 side. We chose hush puppies (on the sweet side) and brussel sprouts (yummy). I really enjoyed the Hideaway Burger which I ordered medium well. It was very juicy, and went well with their Knock Out sauce. The Texas Brisket was okay. Not pleasing and a bit Dissapointing but maybe because I'm Texan. We also ordered the Smore Brownie Sundae. If you have a sweet tooth, this will satisfy it! Super sweet, fudgy and marshmellow-ey topped with a vanilla bean scoop of icecream! ###The Bad### Service was not good. We went around 2pm and we were the ONLY ones in there and yet our waters were not refilled and we were not given enough attention although we counted 9 employees around. We also had some pork pieorgies (spelling?), and it was missing something. Came with three small ones and We didn't like it. ###The Ugly### The checks was over $40 for a measly appetizer, two burgers with side each and 1 dessert. Water for drinks. When I think about spending basically $20 for what I ate, I am not impressed. Food was not wow and not worth that price in my opinion. I can think of two other bbq places I could have went and been more satisfied. There also was an evasion of flies which made the dinning experience annoying. They were every where.

Great service and great wings!!! My family and I stuck to the smoked/fried wings this visit. They were great as usual. We like them naked although as they offetr multiple sauces, we chose to stay naked. As a quick appetizer, we threw in the boasted crab dip ans we could see what everyone was boasting about. It was pretty large and had lots of crab ontop before i mixed it all in. We got it with the baguette. The bread was grilled and toasted. I also had a nice beverage from the bar which had freashly squeezed orange juice and was delicious. BTW my husband was the DD. All and all very cute place with great wings, great service, and great staff. BUT it definitely needs more lit signage on the main road. Maybe a retro sign with lights and an arrow, lol (seriously it's wat I'd do. This way I could add cathy messages or specials!). Regardless, I'll keep coming back. Bonappetit!!!

The name is befitting of this establishment. It is really tucked away in Odenton near the MARC station. I stopped in during happy hour to get my wing fix and opted for the smoked wings "naked" style. I also had the Old Bay wings and they were pretty good too. There is a collection of barbecue sauces to choose from but the wings were tasty without adding sauce. One of the sauces in particular (Pomegranate bbq) was intriguing with a touch of heat and sweet. It was that kind of sauce that makes you keep tasting it to decompose what ingredients they used. Perfect location if you want to grab a bite to eat prior to getting on the MARC or if you're just getting off from work and would like a frosty adult beverage and some mesquite in yo meat. The inside is pretty spacious. You can dine at the bar or at the three other areas. The happy hour menu has drink and food specials so I'm sure you'll find something to make your stomach say thank you.

I have been here two more times since my original review, and I am sorry to say that I must reduce my "star-age." This most recent time, our waitress, though friendly, was clueless about the beers. If a restaurant sports an impressive beer list, the staff should be trained. "I'm not a beer drinker" is not an excuse for an absence of knowledge on your product. She was inattentive, disappearing for long periods of time; our food was brought out by a runner, and my Cobb Salad's dressing-on-the-side was forgotten. Our waitress did not come by after our food arrived to check if everything came out ok. I had to wait about 10--15 minutes to even see her to flag her down. A minor gripe about my salad, which included pulled chicken, was that the chicken was cold; like, refrigerator cold. Usually salads with chicken on them have warm, fresh chicken on them. The vegetables in the salad were fresh and crisp, however I am fairly certain that avocados are not supposed to be crunchy...The visit before this one, a few months ago, the queso sauce on our pork queso was cold; however, it was quickly remedied. They are still using those awful mason jars for ALL their beverages. Mason jars are NOT APPROPRIATE for craft beer; the beer goes flat quickly. Shaker pints are much preferred. Also, when I got my beer and my mason jar to pour it into, the mason jar smelled strongly of chlorine, as if it was not fully rinsed in the dishwasher. One of these missteps would not warrant a lesser review; however this constant lack of attention to detail on all 3 of our visits leads me to be wary of going back. It's just annoying.

One visit. One good visit. We ate on the patio on a lovely May day, which worked out great. The food was all around good. I had the smoked fried chicken, which was dynamite good, along with collard greens and potato salad. My wife had the (giant) brisket Reuben, which easily made two meals. Very creative idea, and well executed. The rug monkeys had a pulled pork sandwich and a hot dog, respectively -- the hot dog in particular was definitely not Oscar Meyer and looked worth a try, but he ate the darn thing before I could steal a bite. I did manage to borrow a couple of fries, which were likewise well done. The owner (who introduced himself as the "meat guy") stopped by the table, which was nice! He said that they have really tried to make main dishes that you really wouldn't see elsewhere, and seems to have succeeded on that front. Their beer list is kind of stingy at the moment, and could use some tuning. The dessert menu is a little uneven -- the apple pie was really, really good but the banana pudding thing was kind of disappointing. The other selections seemed relatively run of the mill (save the alcoholic root beer float); I think they need to seek out some desserts that are as different as the main dishes. So four stars because they're still shaking some things out, but nothing remotely serious at this point. The staff is friendly and enthusiastic, but seems inexperienced. Minor order mixups and whatnot. I expect that will all fade as they find their stride and become an Odenton fixture once again.

Truly hidden from the main road and the signs can get you lost because it's near the shopping strip and you would thought that when you make a turn, it is located there. BBQ sandwich is regular. But the good thing that they raise their farm for some food supply.

Decided to check this place out with my 19yo son (aka "The Trashcan). He's always up for meat and this place had a decent selection. Contrary to its name, it wasn't hard to find and there was plenty of parking. There was plenty of seating and enough wait staff to make sure you're taken well care of. My son ordered the Nacho waffle fries and the Chili Cheese dog with Mac-n-cheese. I got the Brisket sandwich with a side salad (for a $1 up charge). When the food arrived, the portion sizes seemed average but we couldn't finish the meal. One thing to note: the side salad was surprisingly fresh and concocted of more than lettuce and tomatoes. Nice! Naturally we had to try out dessert too! We ordered Cheescake and Carrot Cake. Both were prettily plated, a surprise given the über casual atmosphere and since my son inhaled his, I assume it was delicious. The Carrot cake was moist with just the right amount of nuts and raisins to not overwhelm. So... We enjoyed it and will likely go back soon with the rest of the family.

My servers were excellent. All service was fast though we didn't come here for food. I really cant speak for the food. The only reason I take points off is because the bathrooms in the back are disgusting. Like they hang fly traps and taxi air fresheners back there. Its really concerning. I'll adjust my review after I try the food. Prices are quite high for alcohol in this area too.

Funny enough, although I'd never heard of them my wife had. So she was surprised when I said, "Hey, let's stop by here. It has good reviews!" Wow, I think I've found a new favorite. The food here is excellent, much better than other BBQ places. I enjoyed the Hideaway Burger (which has bits of BBQ in it) and my wife chose the salmon. We'll be returning for full BBQ, though, plus the Pulled Pork Pierogies. You heard that right... pierogies cooked with pulled pork in them! Soooo good, but there's only three of them; I'd eat them all night if I could. Decor is average, a nicely kept sports bar. Nothing fancy, feels very lived in, but not a dive by any chance. Staff were ~excellent~, with a very attentive and helpful server. Even saw the owner/manager(?) walking around talking to the tables. It was a Thursday, so it was only maybe 1/3 full, but I'd love to see it on a Friday or Saturday night. We will definitely be stopping here again, and bringing others with us!

pulled pork perogies...great fried chicken....lightly fried and not too heavy, delicious flavor and very juicy. A+ Ribs...dry rub with good flavor. Not the best ribs I've ever had but pretty tasty Sides: potato salad...not a fan, tasted so strongly of dill baked beans...average mac n cheese....didn't get to try b/c my boyfriend liked it so much he wouldn't share mashed potatoes...very good Glad this place opened up in Odenton, it needs some new restaurants. Next time I'll save room for dessert because it looks like they had a great dessert counter as well.

Seriously the best wings in the area. Get them naked and possibly sprinkle a little Old Bay on them. These are pecan wood smoked and are so tasty and meaty. Yummy! We also thoroughly enjoyed the veggie burger, which was black bean and corn primarily and had great taste. Certainly tastes house made and on a fresh brioche bun. Also shared a California Dog with fries. Very good beef dog with their uniquely seasoned fries. All of these were priced very reasonably . In fact I was surprised at our total. One app, two meals, one coffee and waters was only like 28.50 for two. Would get any of these again but look forward to trying other items on next trip as this was our first experience. Lastly, they were advertising a Sunday Brunch from 10am-3pm with unlimite or bottomless Mimosas which may appeal to some.

For a barbecue joint, it's pretty solid. Flavorful food, generous portions, reasonable prices, some of Maryland's better local brews and creative combinations (where you can get expertly cooked Brussels sprouts alongside your pulled pork). Service is usually friendly, and I have pleasant chats with the bar staff when I eat there for lunch. The spot is a little less secluded than its name implies, but it certainly fits. I haven't eaten my way through the menu, yet, but it is a consideration.

One of our favorite local spots! Close to home, great barbecue with meats smoked on the premises, delicious sides, and a great selection of beers to wash it all down. The Parmesan truffle fries are a tasty starter. If you like barbecue- good barbecue- then you definitely have to check this place out!

Updating my review. Bumping them up to 3 stars. I'm looking at these 4 and 5 star ratings with a side eye. So I'm assuming most haven't had good BBQ before. So here's my review. So this place is in the cut. Like this is where you hide the stolen car cut. So I guess the name is fitting because it ain't right off the main road. Soooooo I opted out of sitting down and eating there for a few reasons that I don't want to share. The decor is nice after all they just remodeled. But...nah I passed. What did I order? Old Bay wings, and the Smoked Fried Chicken with brusselsprouts and Mac and cheese. So wings were fan damn tastic. PDT PRETTY DAMN TASTY. Sheesh they were great. Only gripe is that my wings were naked and no Old Bay on it. Kind of disappointed. I say sides make or break a restaurant for me. And the sides were terrible. Brusselsprouts were smoked with no seasoning...garlic and sea salt would have brought these to life. The Mac and cheese wasn't Mac and cheese, it was specially Kraft like....no taste at all. I ate less than a spoonful of each. Yuck. They seriously need to get with a chef to help out on these. Or pay me to fix them. I'm cheap to an extent. The smoked fried chicken was good. Skimpy on the sauce but it was juicy. Overall I think this place probably has all good BBQ meats. I might be back on a day when there is no place else to go and I'm in the area...and Rusty's in Gambrills is closed. Oh yeah the prices! I think the price points could be reviewed as some thing were over priced in my opinion. *came back for the second day in a row because the wings are damn awesome. Today I got some old bay wings and teriyaki wings. Also I tried the bbq sauces and all of them are good. I tried the collard greens and they were just plain, after some salt and a squirt of bbq sauce they were perfect. WINGS WINGS WINGS! Best wings in Maryland.

Food took forever! Ordered hideaway salad which as suppose to have pears but didn't arrive with pears. Waitress said they were out of pears. Took three hours for 4 of us. Also ordered "not your fathers" milkshake and was told 15 mins after that they did not have "not your fathers" beer. Then after reviewing bill saw that they overcharged us for the milkshakes by 4$. Took almost 45 mins to correct!!

They are close to 32 and 175 though not visible from either road and you may see some crab restaurant signs pointing you to the same place. They have several large parking lots and I was greeted, waited on, and severed quickly. My waiter was very attentive, made suggestions, and answered all my questions. They have a large selection of beers, many are unique, along with a bar. The alcoholic ginger beer is good as is the side order of corn hush puppies though without any noticeable corn kernels. The brisket sandwich has a very mild smoked flavor and was OK. They have a kids menu and seating in another room for those that want to avoid TV and the bar. They have limited outdoor seating. This place is very convenient to Fort Meade so perhaps I'll be back at lunch time. The brisket Reuben is great as are the green beans.

First visit was great. We were greeted by Bob the owner and pitmaster. The hostess was M.I.A. so Bob showed us the different dining areas and seated us himself. After taking his suggestions for orders, we had some of the best Old Bay wings I've ever tasted. Pulled pork is also incredible. Our waiter Jim was great as well. We will definitely be frequent customers.

Having seen the Facebook ad, or local Gazzette story being shared, we decided to rejoice in the presence of having a new restaurant in our quaint little Odenton, and drop in for dinner. For having just opened a few days ago, the place was pretty packed. The seating area is enormous between all of the rooms, so they could definitely accommodate some large parties. Upon being seated, we were greeting promptly by Jillian and I took her suggestion on a beer to start. Served in a chilled mason jar, it was as delicious and easy-drinking as she suggested. I can appreciate a server having knowledge of the beer list and making an informed suggestion. They were still working with a partial menu, but Bob, the Pitmaster let us sneak a peek at the full menu. We already know what we're ordering next time... and probably the time after that. For appetizer, we ordered the wings. Don't do these a disservice and order them coated in any sauce. Naked is perfect, and maybe dipped in a little of the Carolina sauce or the pomegranate, but these are phenomenal. They are smoked, so they have a nice pinkness to them and an added layer of deliciousness that most places do not. Then they are dusted and quickly fried, so they are just-freakin-amazing. Also, I'm guessing they actually make their own ranch, it was very tangy and different than the goop most places will serve you. I'm a big fan. For dinner, I had the the brisket sandwhich and my wife had the pulled pork sandwich. Both were served on a nicely toasted Brioche bun. Kudos there. I drizzled a little bit of the Carolina sauce on mine, although the more traditional sauce was pretty tasty too. I wasn't a huge fan of the white BBQ sauce, but I think that's more or a niche taste anyway. My wife LOVED the pomergranate sauce.... it was like a sweet chili sauce. I enjoyed it, and something that that normally wouldn't be my thing. Bob told us that they will be trying to have their full menu by Friday, so I'll be looking forward to that. Spoiler alert: a BBQ place with BBQ take on queso, pot pie, hot dogs, pergoies, and even tacos. I'm excited to go back. I also heard a neighbor table raving over the crab dip. I'm not a shellfish fan, myself, but I appreciated her enthusiasm. I also appreciate that one of the managers (forget her name) stopped by our table to check on our meal and the service. Still lots of food to try, but a very encouraging start to new restaurant in town. I'd imagine some little quirks will need to be worked out with opening a new restaurant and all, but I'll tell ya what... I wish I didn't have plans for tomorrow already.

Almost everything I've tried is absolutely delicious! I think the macaroni and green beans are bland and I'm not sure what all the rave is about their naked chicken wings, but everything else is phenomenal. We've had the ribs, brisket, pulled pork, pulled chicken, fatty burger, nachos, naked wings and queso. Just a heads up, the BBQ sauce selection is a little different than your typical BBQ joint. I'm not a huge fan of them...Carolina (but not really mustardy like down south, it's kind of sweet), pomegranate (too sweet to be BBQ), knocked up (sweet with a spicy after kick), bourbon molasses (smoky and sweet). I'd like to see a Kansas City, Memphis, St. Louis style BBQ sauce on the table. We love that the prices are fair, drinks are plentiful, never a wait, and probably the best BBQ around the area.

Much better than the last spot. Has a good "local" joint feel, but has everything you would want at a fancier place! Had the sampler BBQ meal.. Food was awesome. 2 suggestions: larger BBQ portion for the price is needed.. Second where is the corn bread??? This is BBQ right?

Great food and drinks. Service is a bit slow but it is still a bit new. The mgr and waitress made it right. We loved the ribs, Mac and cheese, burgers, and salmon. The table next to us got the wings and I wish we did as well. They seemed to really enjoy them. I will get them next time. The crushes are delish.

So good. Perfect hidden gem in odenton ms. Must haves-old bay wings, smoked fried chicken, fried Brussels sprouts, salmon. I don't have a single complaint. This place is always packed, but we've never had to wait to be seated.

We ate here on the 2nd day or so after the re-opening. They had a limited menu, and even though we didn't LoVe everything, it wasn't so bad that I wouldn't give them another chance. I DO plan on coming back and trying them again. I will update. They were having a little trouble with the ordering system, but we're very friendly and pleasant offering complimentary drinks while we waited. Once we were seated, service was good as well. They said they will be making everything in house so fries weren't available yet. But it's nice to know it's real food were getting here. We ordered: Classic hot wings - the texture was good, didn't come tossed in a traditional buffalo style sauce :( I felt like they tasted a lot like that weird fake BBQ chips flavor. But others at the table (king of wings) said they were ok. 1/2 rack ribs - generous. Tender. Meat actually had flavor beyond BBQ sauce which I thought was impressive. Also meaty. Good. Slider trio - the meats were good, flavored well. Also came with a chicken on waffle. The chicken wasn't breaded to my surprise, but was NOT dry, real chicken. Nice. Bread was little buns made in house fresh. The ONLY thing I would have changed about this was to add a little honey as a possible side. Potato salad - mayo based, also has eggs in it. Pretty good. Collard greens - vinegar based, a little sweeter than salty, has bacon of course. A little oily. Okay but not one of the best collard greens I've had. Brussels sprouts - I didn't like these, but husband did. I guess it's a matter of taste. They were grilled, goat cheese, bacon and nuts (?). (Kids) grilled cheese - a regular grilled cheese. not hot when it arrived at the table. Mashed potato & gravy - nice and hearty. Good brown gravy. Real potatoes, chunky. Good. Overall, a pleasant experience with pretty good food. The meat is well flavored, but everything else good, but not THE BEST (to warrant 4-5*). It was okay. The restaurant is quite large and would be good if you wanted to reserve for a large event, they have enough space for a dance floor. And 2 bars (one in front room, one in back room).

I've been to The Hideaway two times. Both times my food tasted incredible and the staff was extremely friendly. The second visit, I had brought my mom for her birthday. The owner came by to introduce himself unaware it was her birthday. Upon learning of this special occasion, he pulled her aside to choose a dessert to celebrate. I love this little gem in my town.

Good crab dip, tasty wings, and good fries, excellent gelato. Service was quick to greet us and food arrived fast but our waitress disappeared for 20 minutes while we needed ranch dressing, more bread, extra napkins, and drink refills. It then took her 10 more minutes to bring us the ranch. Overall, decent experience.

I'm traumatized. We had a large group of about 25 so maybe that had something to do with it but I just can't risk going back. I just can't. Wife got a soggy hot dog mess - the hot dog was smothered in something that looked like it was out of a scary movie. It also tasted as such. I got the highly-recommended-by-the-waitress fried chicken with brussels and something else neither my wife nor I can remember because apparently our efforts in blocking this experience from our memory has been at least partially successful. I wasn't a fan of the taste of the chicken. One would think it being brined and smoked would result in a flavorful and smoky flavor, but the balance was off and it just left a weird, unappetizing aftertaste in my mouth. So I ate most of the skin which was crispy and quite good. The brussels were also tasty, and the wife chowed on those. So after spending dinner money and eating what amounted to appetizer scraps, we left and ate dinner at Newks on the way home.

Came in a group of five and everybody left happy. I really enjoyed my brisket reuben. I recommend it and would get it again. My issues with this place were that my party were rarely checked on, no drinks were refilled and and when we requested our checks noting that we were in a hurry and might be late to work, we still waited more than 15 minutes to get them... and were late to work. Don't come on a lunch break, but do try it out.

This is one of the best BBQ places I have ever eaten at! I got the smoked St. Louis ribs that were very good. The BBQ baked beans are very yummy that have shredded pork in them. I also tried the smoked fried chicken that had amazing delicious smoke flavor and fried to perfection. I can't think of any other chicken that is more delicious than this one. Fast and friendly service. Bob ( the owner ) came to our table to see if everything was to our satisfaction and it definitely was. He talked with us for a bit. He is very nice and friendly. He makes you feel very comfortable and welcomed. I can't wait to come back here which will be very soon!

The Hideaway has a neat atmosphere, very "out in the country" and almost makes you forget you're in a crowded east coast state. My boyfriend and I decided to try it after getting a flyer in the mail. They served our drinks in mason jars, little touches like that made it fun. However had to give 3 stars for service. Our rather robotic waitress took our order and then we waited for almost 40 minutes for our food and didn't see our waitress at all during that time. A family of four who'd come in 10 mins after us were halfway done eating when we started thinking about finding out where our food was. Waitress finally reappeared 5 mins later. My smoked chicken sandwich with hush puppies were great. My boyfriend said his burger tasted flash cooked and burnt. Makes me think they dropped his food and had to redo it, hence the long wait. Someone could have at least told us. Not a deal breaker so will likely visit again before summer is over and hopefully receive different service!

After being open only one week, I had a wonderful experience! The food is delectable! The wait staff was very attentive, and made sure our dinner was enjoyable. Save room for desserts, it'll be hard with how great the food is, because they are fresh and amazing!!!! We will most certainly be back to The Hideaway!

We went for the karaoke and food, and left with great new friends and Hideaway family. My friends and family had been going to Jims Hideaway for over a decade for karaoke, our home away from home. So when The Hideaway opened up, we jumped at the chance to start a new relationship, and it was worth it! First of all, Bob the owner was so friendly and grateful to meet us all, faces to the names, finally! Second, the service. .. The staff, Especially our waiter , Wes, was nothing short of amazing! Wes made us feel like we were home, took his time with us, joked with us, made us feel like the family we had been missing, and because of Wes, we will definitely be coming back! Thanks for the great experience man! And last but certainly not least, the food....stellar! The Hideaway is never going to be Jims, but as long as we are treated the way we were, it will definitely be another home away from home. Give Bob, Wes and the rest of the staff a shout :-)
