Osaka Japanese Hibachi Menu

I eat at Osaka about once a month. The food had always been good for the price. On my last visit it was 90 deg outside. The door was left open. I asked if the AC was broken. The response I got was "no we like it this way." Well you may like it that way. But the 3 customers that were there with me were not happy. NOTE to Owner: Your customers should be your 1st concern. I will go back but if it is a hot day and the door is open forget it!!!

A fast food place that you would normally find in the mall food court. Meh. Double meh.

Had the salmon with broccoli & brown rice. It was very flavorful. Would come back again.

I had high hopes for this place, but the food was generally yuky, and the staff was not in any hurry to make sure our food got to us in a speedy fashion.

I'm sure everyone has had there own experiences with Hibachi type eateries and restaurants. Osaka is not a luxurious class of this genre, but the food does surprise. Me and my wife come here mostly for the sushi (which there Chef behind the bar works wonderfully!) and the fried rice with there own twist on "yummy" sauce. You can come in and sit at the usual "community" Hibachi wraparound tables and enjoy the antics of there usually very colorful and silly chefs, but we tend to sit at the bar and enjoy the sushi and quiet. I wouldn't worry if your seated at the bar, as they can usually bring you anything that is served at the Hibachi tables right at the bar for your enjoyment. The interior is very wood based and warm, and the greeters, servers, bartenders and manager are very friendly and inviting. If you do enjoy sushi, or if you want to sit with other to enjoy the hibachi chefs humor and cooking (you may be recruited for the ever popular flying shrimp mouth catch!!!) you'll love Osaka.

Best hibachi in town! Everything is fresh and cooked to order and I've never had anything on their menu that was bad.

Is this 5 star dining? No. But it is 5 stars for what it is. It is fast food, Japanese style. It's a lot like the Japanese Hibachi places you would find at the mall but SO much better. It's better than most shady Chinese carry outs too. Everything is made to order and they can cook it in front of you. The thing that gets them the 5th star is definitely the people behind the counter. They are always so friendly and they remember what I like to eat! It's crazy. It's a mom and pop type place and I have never seen more than 4 people behind the counter there. My favorite thing there is their Teriyaki Chicken (which comes with rice and vegetables). It hits the spot. I also love the yakisoba there (much like lo mein). My favorite appetizers there are the Egg Rolls (huge and delicious), the Crabmeat Wontons (made with real crabmeat) and they recently started carrying fried oysters (YUMMY). Do NOT leave without the Yummy Sauce. I don't know what they put in it, but it is so good. Japanese Hibachi places have similar creamy sauce like this, but this is much better. The prices here are reasonable for the quantity and quality of food you get. Try this place, it's my hidden treasure in Laurel.

No secret, I work in Laurel. I know, it's glamorous and posh life I lead so you might not believe me when I say get the Yummy Sauce. It is not vegan. Hell, I don't think it is even real, it is that good. The food really is good. They do excellent take away. Which, when you are leading my glamorous on-the-catch a few moments of Bonnie Hunt Show. You will walk away full of Yummy-ness.

Hibachi - invented by the Japanese, adopted and made to be whatever the heck we wanted it to be by the Americans, and made new by noted neologist, Gilbert Arenas. If you're looking for the Hibachi/Teppanyaki show, look elsewhere, e.g., Nichi Bei Kai or Sakura. If you want food in that style for less than half the price, this place is worth a visit. Food - The food here is on the sweeter side, which is puzzling because many of the patrons look like they are probably diabetics, but that's neither here nor there. You can get a Sarku-esque Chicken Teriyaki combo served w/ fried/white rice, veggies (onion, zucchini, cabbage) for $5.25. If you want something more in the style of a Hibachi steakhouse, try the Filet Mignon, Shrimp & Teriyaki Chicken for $13.50. I had the chicken yakisoba once and it was decent for a little over $6. For you lovers of batter (me), the cheese fried wontons are money (4 for $2.10). Or for 60 cents more, you can get them with artificial crab meat in them, though I find that the cream cheese overpowers the crab meat so they only differ in texture. As you may have guessed from my Kenny's review, I love sauce and this place has an aptly named Yummy sauce, similar to the mayo sauce served at Sakura and NBK. They could simply be mayo with paprika and I would still drink them by the barrel, much as I would TGIFriday's Jack Daniel's sauce. Be sure to ask them for the hot sauce as well, which is made of fresh peppers (like Sarku used to do). Service - This place is more of a carryout than a fine dining establishment so nothing to see here. They do cook the food behind glass so that you can see it (see pic), but they're mechanical about it, so no egg rolls or volcano's here, though it may not hurt to ask. Actually, I'd be careful asking them for the egg roll b/c they may just give you a real egg roll. The food is freshly prepared so it does take some time, but typically no more than 5-15 minutes. Location - Located just off B/W Parkway on 197. I've never seen them use A/C in there, so I do not recommend eating there in the summer, *tear* stingy Asians around the world applaud you! It's located in a "shopping" center, but there's really not much to do there, nor is there anything within walking distance, so this is strictly a place to come and get some chow. So if you're tired of having to wait for a few more people to arrive to fill your table or eating uncomfortably close to other diners; if you're tired of being embarrassed when you're the only person at the table that doesn't catch the chicken or if people make seal noises b/c you're the only person to catch the chicken; then give Osaka a shot. Fun Note: Bonus points for no typos on their menu. I am really impressed. No flied shrimp here and they even managed to spell zucchini right.

I'm sorry, but this is not a 4 star, and for sure, not a 5-star place. The food is OK, but nothing special.

I eat at Osaka all the time and I truly enjoy the fact that the food is very tasty, light and delicious. They cook the food in front of you with very little oil and the yummy sauce truly lives up to its name. In addition, I have had the egg rolls, which are full of flavor and not too greasy as are the cheese wontons. I loved the edamame, which was crisp and delicious. I will conitnue to be a fan of the quality food and service at Osaka.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place. I heard about it by word of mouth and I've been hooked ever since. If you like the Japanese Hibachi way of cooking and the food that comes off of the grill, then you should definitely give Osaka a chance. There is a wide variety of food selections (chicken, steak, shrimp, salmon) and its cooked in different ways. The egg rolls are incredibly well cooked - crispy and not too greasy. The Yummy Sauce (Osakas special sauce) is SOOOOOO good. I have no idea of what is in it, but I love it and it goes with everything that comes on your plate. You cannot and will not be disappointed with Osaka. Give it a try!!!

I am not sure of the rule about telling people about their Yelp status. Is it like telling an Amazon lost village about television and the giant silver bird is really the daily party flight to Rio? Well whatever moral code there is I broke it when I told him how "they told me to get the yummy sauce on yelp". Well it was yummy and so was the food. The owner explained he was trying to keep the food healthy. He also explained that he had many luch clients from all the secret government instilations in the area and they like healthy food. I eplained that I prefer to not use my real name there ever again if some of his assasin secret agent friends for some reason had a "job" to do. It was better than sakura without the glitz and I could take the food home and chow down. The egg rolls did need more filling though very large. Ate it anyway with my saketini....see Tony's Liquor review.

1/24/14 I went to to Osaka Japanese Hibachi and ordered four tempura shrimp ($5.95) which were great. For the entree I ordered the White Meat Teriyaki Chicken ($8.95) with onion, zucchini, cabbage and brown rice was an additional ($1.50). I was disappointed that the chicken was sliced very thin and overcooked so it was hard. There were very few vegetable and lot of rice. There was a small amount of chicken. I don't believe the meal was worth $17. Overpriced and low quality. I won't be going back.

Okay, someone please tell me what all the rave reviews are about! There aren't many great places to eat in good old Laurel outside of a couple of food chains. So when I read these reviews I grabbed my husband and promptly went to visit. First the positives, nice employees, clean establishment, magazines available to read while waiting and you can watch them cook the food. We both ordered the terriyaki chicken, and you get what you pay for. How many people have had $6 terriyaki chicken with fried rice? Well I watched them cook the food and when it arrived it looked pretty good. However the terrayki chicken was very sweet actually too sweet to finish, and the fried rice was no more than boiled brown rice drenched with terriyaki sauce. We also ordered the cheese wontons, you get 4 for $2.50. Just a note, that's not cheese in those wontons, I'm not sure what it is, but I quickly put it down. Overall I found the food quality to be low and I couldn't even finish my food. I think this place could be nice for someone who hasn't visited a really good hibachi place such as Kobe's. I defintely will not return, but I think this might be a good place to go for someone who has a taste for hibachi but doesn't want to go through the sit down experience of pay the sit down price.

Okay. I gave this place two tries (mainly by accident, I wouldn't have eaten here again after the first time, but we got it as takeout and my memory failed me). Overall? It is an OK place. It is not someplace that I would expend the effort to go to again and would probably campaign to pick a different place if going out as a group. Life is too short for merely mediocre food.....

This place is bad, local is dirty, food is neither good or bad, and its very expensive. The only good thing about this place is the fried wontons.

Hmm reading the reviews is a mixed bag ............surprising, cause I've never had an issue.........menu is changed a bit, seems they backed down a bit on prices. I normally order after leaving work cause it does take a while, so to give you a real time example, I order when I'm leaving Burtonsville and when I get here order is ready, so I can keep movin down 197. I get for the kids steak, chicken and skrimp ( yes skrimp) DMV folks eat skrimps lol..... If you like wings and mumbo you like skrimps.....cause your old skool....... But getting back to the review..........combo is like 15 with rice and veggies never had an issue with anything being salty or oily or a dirty establishment...... Now food can be slow but they cook it when you order...... Kids love it. I like the egg rolls and now they do bubble tea..... It's ok and reasonably priced......and they give you the little card that they stamp each time you come in, I was eligible for some sort of free appetizer, they happily accommodated my freebie with no muss or fuss.....so that's my story and I'm sticking to it

I should have listened to Joanna P! I'm not sure who wrote these other reviews, but Yelp definitely led me astray this time. I ordered delivery, which took forever...well over an hour (even though the place is only10 minutes away.) I could forgive the wait, but the food was horrible and expensive. I had the crispy shrimp appetizer and the jumbo shrimp/teriyaki chicken combo. It was $26! ??? t/he fried shrimp were tiny but pretty tasty. The "hibachi" wasn't good at all! I'm let down. I do agree with the other yelpers regarding the kindness of the staff. I just wish the food lived up to their reviews. Sorry, Joanna...I should have listened!

Wow I can't believe this got good reviews. My bf and I wanted a place to get a quick bite to eat and stretch our legs while on the way to Colonial Williamsburg. I'm spoiled when it comes to food because we live in NY but this was absolutely disgusting. It was completely in edible. My bf and I both got chicken teriyaki. It was so expensive and literally took a half hour, and the place was empty. The chicken was dark, fatty and hard and looked like it was laying there The vegetables were salty and the rice was hard and bland. We threw our meals straight in the garbage after tasting them and now both of our stomachs are paying for it. Avoid this place like the plague!

Had the steak and teriyaki chicken... Great food at an unbeatable price for hibachi. The staff was also very nice. Little bit of a diamond in the rough but worth checking out if you want some fast japanese food.

My favorite hibachi restaurant EVER. I've been coming here since I was 13 and my mom before me. The couple who owns the place even remembered me after I had been away at school for a year. The crab wontons are the best I've had around, the hibachi is spot on and their yummy sauce is fantastic. I always get the filet mignon with the teriyaki chicken. Very large portions, I always get about 2-3 meals out of it depending on how hungry I am. The place can get packed around lunchtime so if you're in a rush it's a good idea to call and order ahead of time.
