We came in a party of 7 very last minute (10pm), looking for a casual place to dine in with family on a Saturday night in the area. Honestly, I had very low expectations because 1) it would be late and people will probably rush us to get out by 11pm and 2) based on word of mouth, it didn't seem like J&P Pizza had anything special about its menu. I'm glad I came by here! (My personal experience) The server greeted us with a welcoming attitude and I never felt rushed throughout my sit-in at all, even to the checkbook. She got our drinks down with 3 Samuel Adams, 2 Ginger Ales, and 1 water and food orders of: -Leave it to Us Sub -Spaghetti (not sure which) -Meat Lovers Pizza -Hawaiian Pizza -Special Pizza -Calzone Unfortunately, I didn't get to try everything but everyone seemed to enjoy the food for the most part. The Special Pizza was a bit salty and the Calzone is a straight up cheese overload. Apparently, the Meat Lovers' was a favorite. Everything came out in a timely manner. We had Mozzarella Sticks and Calamari Friti as appetizers and I loved the Calamari Friti. I would go back just to get that! The only thing that threw me off was reading their menu because it looked a little bit unorganized, so I didn't even feel like reading through all of it. Maybe re-categorizing or simplifying it will do the trick. Anyways, we obviously didn't finish our late-night dinner so we got everything boxed in its appropriate storage of pizza boxes and sized containers. Thank you J&P!

Owner was friendly, however service was a little inattentive and the waitress seemed to be rushing us. Baked ziti was solid, the sauce is more of a pink sauce versus marinara however. The garlic bread was seriously burnt but still edible. I believe the menu mentioned my entree came with a side salad, never got that salad... Also I didn't see really any options to get pasta with chicken or seafood, etc. My friends fries were cold. Tiramisu definitely came out of a box but it was still decent. $7.50 for rail gin and soda is pricey for Fulton standards. In your in this area, it's probably worth the drive to Pasta Plus instead.

Overall the food is just above average aside from the pizza which is good. All of the food and drink is over priced considering the location, atmosphere and quality.

Went here for the first time for lunch. Picked up lunch for two; Veal Cacciatore and Spaghetti Matriciana. Veal was overcooked and very chewy and tough. The dish itself wasn't too oily and the pasta was decent. More to come after another visit.

Delicious pizza! The staff is very accommodating and friendly. We had the Hawaiian and if was delicious. Tasted like classic pineapple and Canadian bacon with a hint of basil. We ordered it to go and it was made in a timely fashion (not too quick, but definitely not too long). Going back for sure!

The pizza was delicious, but it was slightly slow service. Very kind people, and it was a quiet environment because it was empty at the current time. Price was just alright, just a classic pizza restaurant.

J&P has a Laurel address but I would consider to be Fulton, MD. It is just outside Fulton's Maple Lawn area heading east on Scaggsville Rd. The restaurant is in a very small shopping plaza/mini mall that also has a Subway, Dunkin Donuts, and Beer & Wine. I had stopped by the beer and wine store a couple of times on my way home from work and was excited to try this place. J&P has a take out side where folks seemed to be in and out picking up pizzas and is attached to a large upscale looking restaurant with a nice bar. The inside of J&P is very nice. It is well lit, decorated in an Italian style, with ample comfortable seating. The servers were all friendly and smiled and welcomed me as I entered the restaurant. I creeped them out shortly after when I decided since there weren't any pictures of the inside of the restaurant, I would take some. One of the concerned ladies asked me what I was doing and why I was taking pictures. I thought about messing with/scaring her a bit, but realized she didn't seem like the type that was joking about this so I didn't. I started with a cup of their lentil soup. When it came out, my first thought was how great it looked and hungry I was, but it had no flavor whatsoever. After I added salt it wasn't too bad, and I had no problem finishing it. I ordered a Meatball Parmesan sub for my meal. When the sub arrived it looked perfect. Big meatballs, saucy, and smothered in melted cheese. It was also served with piping hot fries. Just like the soup, I was really let down by the lack of flavor. The meatballs had a good consistency but just didn't taste like anything. They could have used some garlic, herbs, Parmesan, S&P,....something. The cheese on top was not Parmesan like description of the sandwich had me imagine but slice (not fresh) mozzarella instead. The sauce was not bad but just not enough to give you a ton of flavor on the big bland meatballs. The bread was very good. It was perfectly toasted on the edges and warm and soft on the inside. The fries had been pulled straight from the fryer and put on the plate and could see and taste no seasoning. I added salt and pepper to those as well. Overall the place has a lot of potential and if the food was a little more seasoned it could be great. I would rate as follows. Location - 4 Decor - 4 Service - 4 Cleanliness - 5 Presentation - 4 Cooking Execution - 4 Flavor - 2 Meal Satisfaction - 2 Overall - 3

Went there last week with a large group. We called and planned ahead for the dinner. Overall it was a poor experience. For the $ for the pizza, it is completely overpriced. Normally that wouldn't be that bad as long as the service was great... well, it was terrible. The manager complained multiple times that we were too loud. They place is never packed and we brought a lot of business. The wait staff kept forgetting to bring our drinks and we had to re-order. Pizza wasn't bad but like I said before, for the price it wasn't good. On the good note, if you can deal with higher prices, weak wait staff and a grumpy manager, they can host a large party. Just beware that they will complain the whole time.

Been here multiple times. Pizza is great but they've messed up our order several times. Every time we have called to remedy the situation the owner is incredibly hostile. He never apologizes and refuses to take charges off the card without us coming all the way back to the store. We've tried to brush that aside because of the good taste and convenience but it's not worth the frustration of a poor owner with no customer service skills.

First time customer and NOT impressed. Carry-out order: Lg pizza, sausage and pep; fish filet sandwich w/FF; 6 chicken tenders. Pizza was so greasy I had to use a paper towel to blot it before eating. Yuk. Fish sandwich was a disaster: A perfectly square frozen fish filet, slimy lettuce, way too much tarter sauce...all on a soggy bun. Stone cold frozen FF, no seasoning. No, thanks. Chicken tenders were thin, obviously the frozen variety, tasteless, and came with no sauce. Sad. Total price was $34 and change, after a $3 off coupon. This restaurant apparently has no interest in serving fresh, tasty, well-seasoned food. Just bland, greasy, frozen and reheated garbage. I won't be back.

Awesome! We had a bit of all and my only thought is a little less pepperoni on the pizza would have been better.

We went here for lunch today and was very disappointed! Service was super slow and there weren't many people in the restaurant. The food was terrible. I had chicken marsala and the noodles were way over cooked and the chicken and mushrooms had hardly any flavor. My husband ordered wings and fries and the wings were good but the fries weren't. The couple we went with had cheese steak and the pasta combo. The cheese steak received good reviews but they put nacho cheese on the fries and he thought he was getting shredded cheese. The pasta combo was eatable but nothing to brag about. I would never recommend this place to anyone but on the positive side, the place was clean and is a cute restaurant.

Good pizza but WAY too expensive. I've been here a few times for both food and pizza and it's insanely overpriced. I'm not quite sure how they stay in business. I won't be back.

Here we go short and sweet being a kid who grew up in New Jersey I know italian food either restaurant or homemade. We were on our way home from myrtle beach when we needed to stop for one last meal before we got home. To my surprise this place was pretty good. My boyfriend and I shared a house salad and a steak stromboli. The stromboli was amazing!! Steak was cooked perfectly with peppers, onions, mushrooms covered in mozzarella cheese and baked to a nice golden brown. Also served with marina sauce on the side.

The pizza and food are good, but this place is overpriced. This makes J&P far from our first choice when it comes time to order pizza.

I ordered a steak and cheese stromboli to go. When I ordered, I ordered it with mushrooms and onions with sauce on the side. When I got home, 20 min. later, I discovered that they put green peppers on it. While this is what it says on the menu, it is not what I ordered. I called and spoke to the manager/owner. I could bring it in and they would make me another one. Not happening. for a 40 min. drive. Very disappointed in service. It was my fault and I was going to be penalized. It went in the trash. Will NEVER go back!!!

We went to J&P for my mother-in-law's birthday. She is a big fan of Italian food. There were problems throughout the evening - forgotten salads, forgotten silverware, and more. There were 7 of us. We had calamari and white pizza for appetizers. Both were very good. it was downhill from there. My father-in-law ordered Maryland crab soup. It looked and tasted like leftover lentil soup with crab added. I had the Chesapeake chicken which was too greasy to eat with undercooked spaghetti. One of my daughters had the gnocchi. It wasn't very good. My wife had the pasta with clam sauce that was too buttery. (I don't think that butter is supposed to be in it.) The real challenge was with the bill. We had a buy one pasta dish and get a second for half price and two $25 gift cards. The server tried multiple times but could only get one of the cards to be accepted. When I got the check, it did not show the $25 deducted, it only took off for the cheapest of the 5 pasta dishes rather than the second most expensive, and a 20% gratuity was automatically added. I took several attempts to correct the bill and the owner was unwilling to adjust the discount to match the second most expensive pasta dish. Needless to say, I don't plan to return other than to get credit for our second gift card.

I wouldn't exactly call the place very Italian, and the food can be pretty hit or miss. the salads they bring out , each time I've been there, are wilted and not very extravagant. the only thing I love there is there ravioli, but hey, I even love frozen ravioli. other than that their hamburger sub is pretty decent. the wait staff isn't very friendly, and the last time I was there the host didn't even acknowledge us for ten minutes, so we left. good family atmosphere, though. and a lot of kid friendly foods. the pizza is really generous for the price point , and it's a good place to go for a group that wants to hang out a while, because unlike some places they don't tend to hurry you out.

Pretty good pizza and cheesesteaks - the dining room is nice but ALWAYS empty. Good for carryout. You can find coupons in the mail too. I've had the cheese pizza, the veggie eggplant pizza, the j&p special (sausage, pepperoni, etc...) and the capresi salad. All were good for the price, but not spectacular. The pizza size is pretty good - a small pizza will feed 2-3 kids and a large would probably feed my family with a salad on the side. They also have lunch specials for carryout during the week (2 slices + drink or cheesesteak w/ fries + drink).

Not bad...not great. So-so. Pizza is edible. Everything else is hit or miss. Best bet is to order apps & a pizza & a few drinks.

For those of you have not tried New York J&S Pizza you are truly missing out on some of the best pizza in the area. 1 slice with a topping is 3.75, and worth every penny. The slices are huge the toppings are plentiful and the service is very fast. There were a number of tables sat during lunch and everyone seemed to be enjoying all of the food. Did I mention the pizza was actually hot, the crust was actually crispy, and a topping were plentiful. One slice is enough for lunch. A soda was 3.00, but it was refilled multiple times and I never ran out of drink, and the waitress I had offered me one to go.

I keep forgetting to check in to this place because lord knows I am continuously returning to this place. I enjoy their pizza a lot considering it is around the corner from my house. Truth be told, I have not found a NY style pizza place better than Mama Lucia's in Hanover MD. Its a bit disappointing that this place is typically empty because although being seated in a timely fashion is great (especially for a family of 6) a restaurants packed-ness for a lack of a better word provides comfort to my gut too. Perhaps they need a groupon

ok, so J&P added some new items to their menu. I got the spinach salad with salmon. It was really good. Glad I could get something healthy... :-)

My wife and I stopped by this place on the way back from BWI via my office which is not too far from this place. In fact, my office had ordered pizza from this place once for an office party and it was deluxe. The seating is generous with the booths having enough room for a "person of size" such as myself. The ambiance is nice. We were there on a Monday night. It wasn't very crowded so the service was excellent. I had the orange roughy and my wife had the ravioli. My fish was a tad overcooked and the sauce was a little overwhelming but all in all I enjoyed it. My wife really liked her ravioli and the garlic bread was great! Even though it's in a kinda out of the way strip center, I would definitely go back. It's one of those places that surprise you.

Everything about this place is average: price, food quality, decor, service. Certainly not bad at all, but for my money in this area, I can do better. A little extra money spent at facci 5 minutes away up 29 gets you exponentially better everything. The spaghetti carbonara, I thought, was the best dish at this place.

  • Yanira R.

Love, love, love their NY style pizza! I haven't dined it and tried their other options on the menu but I'm sure they're great as well. Staff is very friendly! I crave their pizza at least once a week.

Poor service as well as over-priced food. My girlfriend called before ordering to see if the "sweet peppers" were fresh or not, and was told that the were. Upon getting the pizza, the peppers were not fresh (they were brine soaked and green) two of the kitchen guys came out holding the jar, trying to prove a point that they didn't even understand. They also mis-informed the hostess, who at least seemed to grasp the problem. Their food is priced as if it were restaurant quality, however it is only just takeout quality. Salads are pre-made and seem to sit that way for multiple days. Against my better judgment, I have tried this place twice (thinking I may have been overly harsh), arriving at the same conclusion both times. I won't make that mistake again, and I hope that neither will you.

I love Pasta and specialy when it comes from an Italian Restaurant where you know they won't get it done wrong! My girl Friend and I have been going to J & P Italian Restaurant since last year we always love the Quality of the food, Freshness, Cleanliness and Friendly athmospher.. . we were there last saturday and we enjoyed live music and great food as always my pasta! I highly recommend people to try their Chicken Chesapeake!

Their food is just ok. The Stromboli is very good. Price is a little high for what you get.

  • Melissa B.

I've only done take out here a few times, the pizza is really good! The menu is pretty impressive, but we were told the pizzas are the highlight of this place and they were right! Don't settle for ordinary take out pizza when you've got a place like this to go to!

  • Brian U.

J&P is right near my house which makes it very convenient. My wife and I frequently get carryout. The pizzas pretty good, but it's a little pricey at $20 for an xl cheese pizza. The cheesesteaks are very tasty, both the cheesesteak and chicken cheesesteak and it is reasonable at $9. Overall, pretty good.

  • Hope V.

This restaurant has a lot more options than just pizza. They feature a full Italian menu, and their pizza is delicious. Decent atmosphere and they offer carryout as well.

I went in with very low expectations ... but emerged a pretty big fan. Very solid pizza and good subs. A HUGE dining room was the biggest surprise with a pretty good view of some games. I'm really rooting for this place ... although the service was kinda average with high school girls that really didn't know how to provide good, attentive table service yet.

    (4)
  • Janelle M.

The food is overpriced and boring. That's actually pretty hard to do with Italian food, but they managed. I suppose not being Italian or having anyone even remotely close to italian who works there contributes to that... No desserts are made on premises, you could use the chicken fingers as lethal weapons, the salads are iffy, and I'm pretty sure the majority of the appetizers come pre-made and are kept in the freezer until needed. The wine list is laughable. Kendall Jackson Chardonnay (California, $27/bottle) and McWilliams Shiraz (Australia, $26/bottle) are the only wines listed under ITALIAN wines. The live music is a guy with his guitar and a really hot mic, singing whatever songs he almost knows. Meh. We used to go there because thereONLY because there was a good bartender, but they fired him. We haven't been back, and have no plans to return.

  • Edward S.

My wife and I were just looking for a place to stop and get a decent sub for a decent price. We found both here at J&P. This place isn't an "authentic" italian restaurant, I would think that a good portion of the things on the menu are made ahead of time, heated and brought out. Case in point, our gravy fries, which felt and tasted like they had been under a heat lamp for a day or so. That being said, we both enjoyed our subs. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger and my wife ordered the cheesesteak sub. Now, it is hard to mess those up, so who knows how the other items would fare, but they had a good flavor, they were piled high and the price was reasonable. All in all, we were happy with the experience. I wouldn't go back there for italian dishes, but I could see myself going back to get another sub.

  • Jennifer D.

This meal was great while we were on not all that familiar with the area and just wanted something fast on the road. The pizza was good, but nothing to make me "slap my mama" if you know what I mean. I look for authentic New York style pizza when that is what the name of the restaurant indicates and this was not that type of pizza. It was just...somewhat bland.

    (3)
  • Cathy P.

I live very close by so we order carry out from here frequently. I keep saying "this is the last time" because every time the order is wrong. I have had the order taker repeat the order back to me but I think the kitchen staff does not read/speak English. Tonight really is THE LAST TIME. Finally got my order correct (one item) but quoted me the wrong price when I placed the order and had a different price when I picked up. Owner basically shrugged his shoulders

    (2)
  • Katherine T.

I have been to this place many times and each time I have been unimpressed by the service there. I have also tried take out and it became clear to me that the workers were unfamiliar with the menu as they screwed up both my orders. The food is average and the service stinks.

    (1)
  • Chris L.

The food at this place is decent, but the service is horrible. The first time I went in was for a takeout order, and the two girls who were working the counter both seemed to be in training and took forever to handle even the smallest of special requests (I wanted a sub with extra peppers, for instance). The second time I visited to dine-in and the waiter was rude and incompetent. I would avoid this place.

    (1)
  • David D.

Unfortunately not fresh at all (as other folks mention here). Perhaps for a huge emergency if nothing else in the area is open. Luceros across the street offers food made to order, so there are options in the area, thank god!
