Frank’s Diner Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

I love diners. So when I found I had been driving by Franks Diner frequently and had yet to stop in because I am apparently somewhat dense and not very observant, I had to fix that (well, eating at Franks, I can;t really fix my being dense so easily). I was looking for breakfast at lunch, and figured a diner would at least get me that. The exterior looks awesome, as a matter of fact the exterior was an old diner from somewhere in NJ that the owner picked up and moved back in 94 or something. And while it is a mish-mash of styles, as noted by many others, it still definitely feels like a diner when you get in. The menu has a little bit of everything, but as mentioned I was there for breakfast fare. The breakfast was fantastic. I was especially fond of the western omelet I ordered. It was perfectly formed, perfectly cooked. Eggs light and fluffy and a tad moist with slight browning on the outside, which is as I like it. The wait staff was a tad slow - not really their fault, they hustled, they just had too few for the customers - but very accommodating and friendly. Being in a very low carb diet at the moment, I was substituting all over the place and the got me what I wanted and didn't charge me a lot of extra fees as other places have done.

Coconut cake, tuna melt, and soup were all delicious!! Staff were personable. Great find off of I-95! I would have tried all of the cakes if I had had a big enough stomach!

I often pick up take out orders for my work, the food is always fantastic. We have only ordered breakfast items, so that's what I'm basing it on. I like diners and I like this place. I wouldn't recommend going on the weekend during "breakfast" hours, since it seemed to take forever. But it was expected as well, so no real complaints. I will be back. The prices are reasonable and we are all fans of their french toast. :) Also, I LOVE their cake! Especially the coconut one.

Dull Diner I love diners so I was totally dissapointed when stopping here for a meal on the way home from a road trip. The place was totally dim and dingy - and cold to boot. Not good when it is a cold and rainy day out. The service, to be fair, was very good. The food was very basic - nothing was overly yummy- just sustenance and nothing more. Not bad if you just need a cup of coffee but if you are hungry and want to unwind before heading back out on the road, there are many better places. Parking lot in front.

Old time greasy spoon diner. Going to Frank's is like stepping in a time warp. It let's you know that before I95 was built, route 1 was a pretty traveled road. Somehow it has stood the test of time and is a rememberance of what was. I always to breakfast. Sometimes the seniors (which they let me order). The biscuits and gravy are made the way they should be, rich, creamy and meaty. What I think I like most about Frank's is it doesn't pretend to be what it's not.

Excellent sweet potato pancakes. Bacon was not real quality an overcooked. Reasonable price. Very easy off and on the highway.

The interior of Frank's is pretty retro and not on purpose, lol. Hubby and I rolled in there around 8ish and little did we know that they closed at 9pm.. You think they would be open 24/7 but per the owner, hard to get wait staff to work there.. We didn't feel rushed by our waitress, which was a plus. I can see how some people would feel uncomfortable in there..so for you foodie snobs who can't tolerate customers close to you swearing up a storm, some crumbs on the seats, a little outdated furniture, LEAVE THIS PLACE NOW. Frank's kinda had some weird old-b-movie atmosphere, but it was all good. Cute, dusty, little old mini jukeboxes at every table. Still worked because someone paid to listen to Al Green, which probably added to my dining experience there, which was good. We sat in front of a couple who's conversation included, "no effing way dude" or "no effing sh*t" or "effing believe it man" or "no way dude, I'm effing serious!" and the guy who was saying that was no sailor (ha ha get it, swear like a sailor, okay? hehe hubby's in the navy) and lets just say his character added to the atmosphere of Frank's Diner. Anyways, waitress hands us a menu, oh wait, excuse me, a book. That's right. I like restaurants that have menus in plastic spiral binding. Means more options, right? Well, if you haven't read any of my reviews, I'm a certified cupcake/cake whore and wasn't interested in the food... Well, I mean I was, but seemed to be distracted by some lovely cakes on the counter.. Actually salivating. drooling.. You know how you see a drop dead, gorgeous, sexy guy or woman, and you have these racy thoughts.. well you know what I'm talking about (how strange of me to compare food to beautiful people).. Well, lets just say I like looking at yummy mile high cakes on the counter! Ok, getting back to my review... Hubby ordered chicken dumplings - I would have reviewed it but hubby eats fast and he's not really a here-taste-this-you're-gonna-love-this kinda guy. If I offer a piece of steak to him, sometimes he'll say, "If I wanted to taste that, I would've ordered it" but I think that's part of the I'm-effing-hungry-wtf-don't-mess-with-me-until-I-eat-a-couple-bites disorder. He and my sis share the same disorder. After a couple bites of their own food they are back to normal. Sorry, Adult ADD got the best of me...I ordered a half baked chicken (who the heck orders that at a diner?? I know that's what you're thinking) but I wanted to be healthy. Well, that had to cancel, the mac and cheese, the garlic toast, collard greens, salad, and of course a piece of that yummy cake that I was eyeing earlier. LOTSA food, and good, tasty food. Collard greens were not at all bitter, in fact, it was perfect. Mac anc cheese, seemed authentic and not cheese whiz'ish. Chicken was fresh, yummy. Of course the piece of cake to go was no duncan hines mix, people. It's huge and lasted me 2 days. Now that I don't share with NO ONE. I ordered the yellow cake with caramel frosting. TO DIE FOR. I noticed that there was a strawberry cake on the counter after I ordered the caramel frosting cake.. That will be the next cake I order. Eat there, you wont be disappointed if you like Cracker Barrel or Country Pride. 4 stars for food and service.. I will go back for the breakfast items and the strawberry cake. and the coconut cake...

3.5 stars Frank's has a sign off of I-95 but it's still kinda out of the way. They have a typical diner menu but the food is above average. Service is friendly as can be. We came for breakfast and despite being tempted by the sausage gravy and various egg dishes I was in a cream chipped beef mood. Food came out and it was all quite large. And the quality was better than most greasy spoon diners, and certainly better than I would've expected at such an out of the way location. There was so much chipped beef on there and the biscuits were great. Our side of potatoes was good too but we couldn't come close to finishing. They also have GIANT pieces of cake that all looked wonderful, but of course there was no way I could eat that after my pile of chipped beef and biscuits. One concern, and cause for a docked star, is that I overheard the waitress telling patrons that they use a pre-made egg mix instead of fresh cracked eggs. This was a turn-off for me and would probably sway me from ever trying one of the egg dishes. There's just something to be said for the superiority of fresh cracked eggs over that cafeteria-style egg mush that I'm far too familiar with.

Always friendly, great service. Food is solid diner food. Sweet potato pancakes are great, home fries are killer, and french toast is just right. Never liked a chicken fried steak until i had theirs. The omelettes in general are okay, but would prefer the cheese to be inside. Generally one of my favorite diners.

The one star is for customer service, can't rate the food as can't rate what never comes. Years ago we came pretty frequently but then the service/food started to go downhill so we came less and less until we stopped going so hadn't been here for probably 2 years. Today decided lets give it another shot - big mistake. Arrived and it was busy but we were seated quickly. They took our drink order, said the server would be over. Few minutes later waitress came over and told us it wasn't her table but she would take our order - so far so good. Well after about 15 min, the diner had pretty much emptied because most folks had their food when arrived but we didn't have anything yet - no omelet or corned beef hash which is what we ordered so nothing difficult. After a few more min we noted that the guy who walked in with us not only had his food but was done eating and that other folks after us were getting food. Since 30 min had passed we went up to the person who had taken our order (no one had been to the table since) and asked if she could check on the food. She did and came back 5 min later to tell us it will be out shortly. Waited 5 more min and decided at that point we had waited long enough and needed to be somewhere in an hour anyway that we just got up and left. This was their last chance and they failed, unfortunate because we really wanted to like Franks again. Too bad. We only had water but the glasses are very small and noticed later on the menu it's $1.99 with only 1 refill for soda/tea. As small as the glasses are with ice you'd probably only get 12 oz of soda for that price anyway.

I was very skeptical of franks. For starters, we were on a tight schedule to get to a train into philly and i was scared that we would miss it. The GPS had us arriving at the train stop 33 minutes before our train, but i doubted we could have breakfast at a diner in 33 minutes. Well i was wrong! We were immediately met by friendly waitstaff and before we could even fully sit down I had already ordered my coffee. The menu was fairly big so i had a tough time deciding. I opted for the cheese omelet (which started my whole weekend of eating a ridiculous amount of cheese!) which came with potatoes and a buscuit (which you could get toast or hashbrowns... go with the potatoes and buscuits!) The food came out before we could even find a song to order on the jukebox. The omelet was nothing special, the buscuit was good, but the real winner of the meal were the potatoes. They were real potatoes (not packaged!) and well seasoned. YUM. Definitely worth the trip Prices were very reasonable and service was friendly and quick. And we were back in the car, and on our way with the GPS having us arrive 5 minutes before the train. Definitely a great stop on I-95

I just moved a few miles down the road from this place and have been here a couple of times. I don't really like the diner scene but the food here is good homecooked-style fare that is relatively cheap. The serving staff pepper their sentences with 'baby' and 'honey' and are very friendly. My only complaints are that the AC doesn't seem to work well, so the temperature on a hot day is just this side of bearable. Also, some of the sides are pricey ($2.50 for 3 slices of a medium sized tomato, anyone?) but the combo dishes average around $6 to $12. Their over easy eggs are ooey-gooey delicious and cooked perfectly and their BLT and fries dish isn't a greasy mess. My boyfriend ordered the french toast both times we've gone, and he loves them. He likes to drench his pancakes, waffles, and french toasts with syrup and butter, and the french toast at this establishment comes with more than enough of both to satisfy him. I plan on going back periodically to try other things on their menu.

Stumbled upon Frank's for lunch today. I was immediately greeted by a very nice waitress who sat me right away. The inside is very dated but seemed clean. a different waitress waited on me very quickly and she was very nice as well. I ordered a tuna melt but was later told they were out of tuna. She suggested the chicken melt as an alternative so I took her up on her suggestion. The food came out hot and fast and was pretty good too. Over all Frank's was what you would expect from a smaller, old diner. Good food for reasonable prices.

I live near this diner that's pretty close to the intersection of Route 1 and 175. Not a lot of breakfast options right off Rt 1 that's not fast food, so we'll go here when we don't feel like making our own eggs and don't want to drive for more than 10 minutes. I wish the food was fantastic, especially since Frank's appears to have been in the neighborhood for so long. It's just okay. They remodeled recently (which isn't saying much) so it is clean but I've never been bowled over by their food. And they are a tad bit too expensive for what you are getting. Some breakfast entrees pass the $10 mark. I'd rather go to IHOP or Bob Evan's for those kind of prices for mediocre food.

eh. it was okay, at first glace I was COMPLETELY skeptical. As we were getting seated, the place was empty of course but as we ordered our drinks people started walking in and parking their cars. (the parking lot was EMPTY when we rolled in)& the lighting was horrible but the place was pretty outdated anyways. So then we got our drinks, which i mind you.. I don't like being close enough to a waitress to smell her while she's passing the drink to the person next to me. Then we waited a little bit, and ordered our food. There's a LOT of selections but what my sister ordered was the turkey dinner.. now something that really turned me off is when the waitress adressed her that the turkey dinner is not turkey turkey, it's lunch meat. Why would you call it a turkey dinner then? I ordered the cheeseburger and fries (thankfully not the turkey dinner) As we waited for our dinner, it was like if you talked in there it would echo from how silent it was. I could hear the conversations they were having on the other side of the diner! That just bugged me. Now when we were served (yes, i smelled the waitress' cheap perfume once again) I was suprised. The burger I got was actually VERY good. It was greasy, but i expected that so that passed in my book. Overall I give 2.5 stars, my food was great but some of it was what you can say.. deceiving (lunch meat?). The staff was, I don't even know what to think of it... and the place could be renovated, but it's not. So go there if you want the burger, cause i bet you that's the only good thing for lunch/dinner.

The great thing about diners is they make food you could make at home, but a lot less healthy. I would never put that much cheese in a grilled cheese sandwich, nor would I use that much butter, which is why I love diners. My grilled cheese was delicious, with fries and a pickle. The interior was exactly what I want in a diner. Jukeboxes at every table, with only oldies to choose from. A counter lined with dessert options, cakes in a ton of different flavors, all sitting under their individual glass domes. If I found myself in the area again, I would most definitely hit up Frank's Diner for my on the road meal!

Overall an okay place. The prices are reasonable. The wait staff is nice, a little absent minded at times, but usually only when they're slammed, so i let it slide. Never had a problem with my orders, just takes a little time sometimes. Franks doesnt pretend. It's a diner across from a huge distribution center. Lots of semi trucks around. We like to go here for sunday breakfast. My wife is a big fan of the sweet potato pancakes. They are quite delicious. The regular pancakes are good too. I had eggs benedict that was eh. The Hollandaise was too thick and too much of it. Even though I ate it all...ha! If you're a diner junkie like most of us on the east coast, drop in. You'll leave fat n happy.

This place get's three stars for being authentic. I am putting this diner opening mid-fifties, and it hasn't been remodeled since (basing this on the restroom). It's a little off the beaten path (as in Jessup, MD) but worth the detour off I-95 if your on the way to Arundel Mills. I got the biscuits and gravy, with scrambled eggs and a side of bacon. The coffee was standard diner coffee, the scrambled eggs were good and the bacon salty and fatty just like I like. But the biscuits and gravy, just not good. I can't put my finger on it, but the gravy just wasn't up to snuff, I'm not sure but maybe it's because the sausage aspect of it was suspicious. I make mine with actual chunks of sausage, but hey that's just me. My mom got an omelet which looked like a much better choice, my friend the sweet potato pancakes, which she said were excellent.

For a consistent yummy, straight up breakfast with solid service (love ya Lori!) I love going around the corner to Frank's. Ask for the raisin toast ... if Frank remembered to order it it's a nice change of pace.

I tried breakfast at Franks. I had a waffle with strawberry topping, side of bacon, and orange juice for $12. The food was mediocre for the price. I've been to other diner like breakfast places with better food for less. The waffle was a bit undercooked for my tastes. It had no browning or crispness. The strawberry topping was pie filling from a can. I at least expect frozen strawberries and not flavorless pie filling that is more corn syrup that strawberry. The bacon was very thin and mostly fat. I get better from a national grocery store brand. Overall, i was unimpressed. If the meal was only $8 it would have been ok, but $12 before tip was way too much. My friends had scrambled eggs and biscuits and gravy. They didn't say much either way.

As soon as I walked in I expected to see DA hairdos, poodle skirts, packs of Lucky Strikes rolled up in t-shirt sleeves, and doo wop playing on the jukebox. What a trip back in time. Unlike the phony baloney places that pretend to be diners, serve brie and broccoli omelets, and make coffee in the Tassimo, Franks is a real, honest-to-goodness relic of the 50's and 60's. I kept looking around for Richie, Potsy and the Fonz. Oh, yeah...the food: Couldn't resist the sausage gravy and biscuits; one of my breakfast favorites. Absolutely delicious, as were the home fries made with REAL potatoes. And they actually serve tomato juice (try getting that at Bob Evans). Top it all off with freshly-brewed coffee and you've got a winner. I'm kind of a foodie, and really enjoy eating at fine restaurants (Charleston, Trattoria Alberto) featuring 'chefs' and extensive wine lists. This isn't one of those places (I picture a cook in a greasy apron and a cigarette hanging from the corner of his mouth). But it is a great place to get a fine breakfast in an old timey atmosphere (Marvin Gaye on the jukebox). Franks smells of fresh coffee, bacon, and a lingering aroma of cigarette smoke (in a pleasant way). In my mind there were '57 Chevys, '58 Vetts and T-birds parked in the lot, attracting a bevy of pony-tailed beauties in bobby sox and saddle shoes. Aaaah, what a breakfast. Can't wait to make the scene on the flip side, daddy-o!

It started well. Real "diner feel, nice people, reasonable menu. Most of the food was good, with the exception of the greasiest hash browns I have ever seen. However, they lost me when a refill was in fact a second full cost cup. Three stars reluctantly, but I won't be back.

Franks Diner feels like it is stuck in the 50s with retro furnishings, pleasant waitresses and solid diner food. They played some great Motown music in the background which gave it a classic diner feel. We had typical breakfast food of pancakes and eggs over easy. Grilled cheese on sourdough bread as well. Prices were very reasonable as well. Only reason it is not 5 stars is that the bathrooms could be cleaner.

This probably isn't a fair review but I don't care. We made our way over to Frank's around noon needing some grub, it looked pretty small but we figured we'd be ok...clearly these little towns cannot handle huge influxes of own of towners. The place was packed, pretty sure not a seat in the house. No waiting area which isn't a big issue for me, after all it is an old school diner so we decided to turn off the NJ in us for 2 seconds and tried to be patient as we saw a table clearing. Watching the waitresses make multiple trips back and forth to the kitchen carrying 1 item at a time was discouraging for sure. The longer we stood there the more concerned I became--was this going to be a bad meal? I was already slightly hangry and lots of people were sitting without food in front of them....but I was distracted by the homemade cakes that were sitting on the diner counter for a few moments. Then, the one waitress who was ringing people up sealed the deal for us when the only words that were spoken to us the entire time we were there was "can you please move up and close that door? you're letting the heat in." you bet we can we just moved the other way out the door. I get it, it's a mom and pop and not used to a packed house but if she had said "good morning guys we'll be right with you thanks for your patience" we probably would have stayed. I can't tell you if the food was good, I still think about those cakes and wonder what if....but in all seriousness I'll prob never end up there again so oh well.

The food was SO good!! My husband had the pork chop breakfast and I had sausage and eggs.... Delicious!! When we road trip we hate eating at the same ole fast food places -- so glad we gave this place a try! We will add it to our list of places to stop whenever we travel up north!

Sigh. This place used to be a gem with a full house on Saturday and Sunday mornings. And it was awesome. Not so much anymore, for good reason. We were seated at a table that was bare except for two placemats. We were never given any utensils (luckily we ordered food that did not require them) and I had to get up and get some napkins from the counter myself. One sandwich was missing the bacon (as described on menu). Overheard our waitress making a snarky remark to another customer referring to the IHOP down the road. Disinterested staff, so-so food. We won't be back.

Alright. We tried again. This time we asked if they had biscuits and gravy. They did. It wasn't great. Unless you are okay with $8 worth of microwaved frozen biscuits and flavorless gravy. This place may have been a gem once, but save yourself the trouble and go to Hardee's.

Passing through town staying at the hotel next door. Exhausted, we grabbed a turkey club, Reuben and a slice of some delish sweet potato cake. Friendly service, reasonably priced items perfectly executed.

Let's start off when I walked thru the door. As I was walking in there was 1 older waitress, 1 younger waitress, a couple and their child leaving and some man sitting there with the older waitress. So I sat down and asked the younger waitress what would she recommend (While getting nasty stares from the older waitress and the man) and she recommended "The Melts" (Lunch meat and bread thrown on the grill that's all). So I ended up getting a Reuben. I asked for the thousand island and coleslaw on the side. The waitress ended up ringing me up for a whole side of coleslaw, so I'm trying to explain to her I just want a little. The same amount they would put on the sandwich. So as I'm telling her the man turns around and says, "See the thing is we don't do......" I asked him, "Do you work here?" he replied, "I'm the owner".... Well I'll be hot diggity damned! If I'm not looking at the coleslaw taxer myself. My initial thought was.... How $*!&?*!& rude of you to sit there and not even acknowledge your customers not a simple smile, smizing, hand wave or NOTHING! NOTHING AT ALL! And I was THE ONLY CUSTOMER IN THERE!! And to let the older woman go without speaking was even more puzzling to me. To make a long story short I got my sandwich, it was okay and he doesn't make his own corned beef. Coleslaw was brown... When Frank walked to the back he personally scraped the edges of the coleslaw container for that coleslaw. Restaurants like this needs to cut down the bulky menus. Find 1 good chef and a few good sous chef. Buy from local farmers (stop wasting money on instant food) Create a fresher diner menu (maybe I could have gotten some fresh coleslaw and not the jarred stuff). Get the business back going. Upgrade the diner and live a happy life. If Frank could do this maybe he would enjoy seeing his customers more.

This is a flash back to old times. Too dated for me. Service was okay, as well as the food. Nothing that screams to come back. The hash browns were horrible. Coffee was okay too, diner coffee. Best thing was the creamer from home Syracuse, NY. Homesick today.

My girlfriend and I visited Frank's Diner expecting a hole-in-the-wall greasy spoon. What we found was a disappointing, dank, strangely busy diner with mediocre food. Our table was sticky, the coffee cups were dirty, and the food, frankly, wasn't very good. It also was not worth the high price of $24 for two breakfasts, 2 coffees, and 1 side. The pancakes were hard on the bottom and lacked any kind of fluff, the eggs were bland, the sausage gravy didn't taste homemade, and the coffee was bitter. Our waitress, bless her soul, was spread thin. There were only 2 waitresses serving 15-20 tables, and one of them had to run the register, too. Considering that, the service was fine. Looking at the menu before we ordered, we expected we may come back to sample their dinner, but after the actual meal, I don't think we will be returning.

We were planning to hit up the ihop, but saw the sign for Frank's while traveling the interstate. We prefer local eateries so decided to give it a go. So glad we did. The food was fresh, tasty, and cooked perfectly. I had the open-faced hot roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and the hubby had a chicken sandwich with Mac-n-cheese. I don't think anyone had food left on their plates. Each table also has a jukebox and of course we had to play an oldie. I'm so glad we went. It was well worth the drive off the beaten path!

Given the mixed reviews on Yelp, I was a bit apprehensive to try Frank's, but my experience this morning was pleasant so Frank's get 3 stars. Frank's is a no frills dinner. Coffee is served in old school white mugs and the placemats are paper. There are several placemats on which people have drawn pictures hanging on the walls. My friend and I ordered the following, which came to $22 before tip: 3 sweet potato pancakes with 2 eggs and bacon. Side of hash browns. 2 eggs with corned beef hash (served with hash browns). Coffee. The hash browns were under seasoned and mine were a tad over cooked but with the addition of some salt, pepper, and hot sauce they still fulfilled my hash brown craving. The corned beef hash was some of the better that I have had and the amount that is served with the two eggs is about perfect since it is a bit salty. I ordered my eggs poached soft and they were right on the money - too often I end up with over cooked eggs. The stack of sweet potato pancakes was thick and topped with a hearty scoop of whipped butter. The coffee is standard diner coffee - nothing to rave about but it met the caffeine needs of this coffee addict. In conclusion, I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to visit Frank's but both my friend and I said "I'd come back" as we were leaving. Oh and if you are going for breakfast on a Saturday, make sure to go before 11 so that you beat the hangover crowd. When we arrived around 10:45 we were seated right away, but there was a line out the door as we were leaving.

Better than a Waffle House or IHOP, but not as good as a Bob Evans or Perkins. I think that's the most descriptive way I can describe Frank's.

A classic diner with great food and excellent service. I've never had anything that wasn't good and the service is always with a smile. The decor is a little old school but everything is clean.

Just don't. I ordered the cheeseburger, which can only be cooked well done. When I asked why, I was told "Because it says so on the menu." I got a small patty (about the size of a fast food restaurant's) on a dry bun. Fries were ok, but was hoping I cud just slather on ketchup to make it all better. Is the price for Heinz® so much more?

This place is hidden. I'm glad you don't know about it. I am currently here eating a piece of cake surrounded by 3 other customers. I am hoping they do enough business to stay open, but not too much where I have to deal with a bunch of screaming kids and crusty old people killing my buzz. Ask for Heather!

No complaints about this place. It was clean, friendly staff, and good food. I was surprised to see scrapple on the menu, yes I got some along with pancakes and eggs. The pancakes were huge and I'm glad I only got two. It's a nice quiet place I wouldn't mind visiting again.

pretty much one of the few diners in the area that has awesome chicken and waffles. Side note: this diner was transported piece by piece from NJ to Jessup. Pretty cool.

Think diner. I am a road warrior this week, 1000k miles within a 300 mile radius on Atlantic Coast. I literally drive until I can't see straight, have to p, or starving. All three-check. I check into a hotel, tcb, and then FOOD. Frank's looked more appealing then the chains. I am starved so it could bias my views. I ordered a t-bone steak with mash potatoes, and garlic bread and salad. I know the potatoes are out of the box and the gravy out of a pkg., but since I don't normally eat those and hungry, they were food and tasted good, one big ice-cream scoop of potatoes on my plate draped in brown gravy. Garlic bread was half a hot dog bun with garlic and butter. Steak was a fantastic surprise! About 12 ounces with a large filet on side, not steakhouse quality but totally doable for $15 and a small side salad. My waitress was Paris who was very pleasant. I appreciate places that don't try to be be what they're not. They are happy to be a diner and do it quite well. All in all, when I check of this "hotel", I will start the day with breakfast there.

We loveee Frank's diner. We have been coming here every Saturday morning for a little while now and it is always amazing. The sweet potato pancakes are great as is the half smoke breakfast with 2 eggs. Good coffee, nice booths. What's not to love?

Absolutely love this place. Feels like I've stepped back in time. Food is diner style - just as expected. My daughters originally wanted McDonald's (go figure) but at the near end of their dining experience, they told me that they were glad that we didn't go to McDonald's. They were extremely glad to have come here. If you love diners and stepping back into time, this is the place to be. One of the best pancakes around. Excellent chipped beef atop biscuits. So much more! Delicious!

Place looks deserted from the outside, which is probably an indicator of the direction it's headed. I got a simple order of eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and toast. The food was dirty looking, like the grill needed cleaned. The potatoes were hard as plastic, like they'd been sitting in a pan for hours. When the bacon looks foul like this, it's hard to get more than a bite down. In fact, all I ate was the toast and the parts of the egg that looked all right. I got a peek into the kitchen and it looked like something out of a horror movie. I would recommend you avoid Franks Diner until it's been renovated and put under new management.

Staying in Maryland for a few days and this diner is right near our hotel. We got there early so there was no wait and our waitress was very nice. The food was ok. I ordered the bacon/American cheese omelette, hash browns and a biscuit. The omelette was good, the has browns were similar to ihop's and the biscuit was delicious. My boyfriend ordered pancakes, which he wasn't crazy about and scrapple. Note to fellow NYers, look up scrapple in Wikipedia before you order it just cuz it has a cool name!

When you're staying at a hotel in Jessup there aren't really many options for breakfast, this one was super close so we gave it a shot. Glad we did! We ate here a couple of times during our stay, and each time was good. The first time I ordered the Sweet Potato Pancakes and my boyfriend ordered the Sausage Gravy & Biscuits. The Pancakes were just great, very much like the ones I make at home. I tried a bit of his and it was delicious, even for someone who dislikes sausage. He liked it a lot. Our server was pretty decent. The decor was alright, they really need to renovate the seating cushions though as they look like they have been through a lot. The second time he ordered a standard breakfast, and I got the french toast and a side of hash browns. The french toast was pretty good, I would say a bit overcooked. The hash browns were alright as well, a bit undercooked. I wouldn't recommend the hash browns at all. Our server this time was really nice, she was in a word.. awesome. The only real problem I have with this place is that it has a strange smell.. like uh, you walked into an old person's home. And they really need to work on the cleanliness in the bathrooms. But overall, an alright place. We'll probably be going here a lot due to the convenience!

I have no idea why this place was so crowded on a Sunday morning; the food, service, and ambiance were all sub-par. The hash browns were rubbery; my wife normally loves creamed chip beef but she barely ate half of hers. The scrambled eggs were the best part since you can't mess those up too badly. I don't think I'll be back anytime soon.

I was so excited to try a new diner when I was visiting for work from out of town. My go-to is the grilled cheese and chicken noodle... pretty simple right? Well.... the grilled cheese was pretty good but I was very sad about the chicken noodle. It was canned. You can't fool me. I aaalways love diner chicken noodle! :(

I'm not a huge fan of diners, but Frank's was a unanimous win for my group. My group consisted of me and one other person, so take that with a grain of salt if you really must. Admittedly, we went there for breakfast/lunch because it was the only place next to the Red Roof Inn that could feed us copious amounts of food in just 45 minutes. We weren't just classy that day - we were also in a hurry. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed. But don't go in expecting the world. The food is still greasy, simple diner food. But I enjoyed the turkey sandwich immensely. My friend's response to the question "What did you order again?" was "Fuck if I remember. Whatever it was, it was good." Pros: The menu is huge, and it's obviously cheap. THEY HAVE MIMOSAS. This earned a star on its own. Mini jukeboxes at every booth. The staff is really sweet, and at least when I went there, the service was great. Cons: One checkout line makes for kind of a long wait.

Although I couldn't tell if it was open or not, once I was in, I was pleasantly surprised. The food was pretty good. My boyfriend and I had breakfast. The french toast was good and the sausage gravy was above what I expected. This will definitly be my number two breakfast spot. Next trip I must try the cakes :)

We have been going to Frank's diner for years. It was a family tradition to go every Sunday. My only expectation when dinning out is to get good food and friendly service. Unfortunately, to pay money for today's awful experience and anxiety after eating breakfast there is enough for me to never go back. The last couple of times we have visited the food has been mediocre. I continued the family tradition thinking it was a new cook and they would eventually "get it". The final straw was today's breakfast. The usual hostess of 25 years is no longer there and no one greeted us with a friendly "hello." The food took an extremely long time to come out (which is odd considering the place was basically empty). When it did arrive, we all agreed that it had dropped below "mediocre" marker. The waffles were burnt and hallow, literally crumbled when cut, vs. the chicken fried steak was mushy. Since the waffles were uneatable, we requested new ones. The second batch came out burnt and crunchy again, so we requested pancakes. After breakfast we requested the check, waited 10 mins.. no check. My husband decided to go to the cash register to see if he could pay. When he got up there he heard the manager (who also claimed to be the owner) talking about us. "What do they expect, mushy pancakes. I am not taking that off their bill" My husband politely pointed out "they were burnt and hollow." She looks at him and says, "Excuse me, I was not talking to you I was talking to my waitress." I could go on with the story but I am sure you get the point. Less the mediocre food, poor management and unfriendly service. NO THANK YOU FRANK'S DINER!! To pay money for awful experience and anxiety after leaving is enough for me to never go back.

I went for dinner as a second choice, I couldn't find the restaurant I really wanted. The wife liked her meal. Mine was OK but what I didn't like was the waitress (who was quite personable). Who talked us into taking two starches instead of the veggies that I didn't want and then unchanging me a dollar and telling me nobody ever complains. Well not only am I complaining but now I'm not going back for breakfast and I yelped. I hope they see this and learn

Food not cooked to good. First visit my husband ordered calf liver. When it came out blood was pouring out of it. From that we would just order chicken tenders. I another night 2 months later decied to be brave and order my favorite item to order from other places Salmon. When it came out it looked picture perfect. When I ate a bite I had to spit it out on my napkin. The worst tasting Salmon I ever tried. It taste like the fish may had been frozen solid and spoiled a little bit from freezer burn. I could not eat it. The waitress took my complaint. The owners wife came to the table with the attitude I don't know what to tell you will have to pay for it anyway. Then she went on to offer to some melted butter. I agreeded thinking maybe fish was jst overly dry. She sent butter through waitress. I tried it and spit that out. I knew at that time fish was not even close to beening fresh. Then I ended up ordering chicken tenders on the side. When all over waitress took my plate with the uneaten fish to throw away. We packed up the chicken tenders and Franks wife made sure that we paid for every bit of the food. This dinner is very dated and I was always tought not to eat in empty reasturants. If you read this PLEASE DO NOT EAT THERE. Behavior that was displayed by Frank's wife was dated to when blacks and whites where seperated. The waitresses are very nice but the food that the cook serves is not right.

Blech. Good thing prices are cheap b/c the food tastes like wet cardboard and the portions are tiny.

What a find! Arrived to this magnificent find with a simple google search on our way back to NVA from the Baltimore airport. I yelped it and it had decent reviews. It was breakfast time and service was quick and friendly. When the food came it was nicely proportioned and cooked well. Nothing fancy, just right. The French toast was simple, but did the job satisfying my cravings. The decor was cute and the place was very clean. The jukeboxes at each table was a nice touch and the music actually was fun and grabbed my attention a couple times during the visit. I will definitely be back in the future!

OK, so before you go to Frank's you must accept a few things: - Its decor is stuck somewhere between the '50s and '70s - It's dimly lit and fairly cramped - The menu is kind of all over the place BUT The breakfast here is simply great. All the diner classics are present, and are well prepared. My recommendation (for those of you not concerned about things like "fat") is the sausage gravy & biscuits, side of home fries. You'll be a happy camper. They are certainly among the best I've had, and they've been consistently good. Omelets are good as well, and they'll happily mix in whatever meat and veggies you want. They'll do egg whites only if you ask. So if you're a fan of greasy-spoon-diner breakfasts, there isn't another around like Frank's. Just go and enjoy.

Its a basic diner that does things right! Staff is friendly and responsive without being overbearing. They get your order and your food quick and allow you to relax while also keeping your coffee cup full! The waffle is phenomenal. The music is old school and delightful.

We have occasionally stopped at Frank's Diner on our way to or from Washington, DC. A dramatic change has been noticed over the past few years. Service has become poor. The food is hit or miss... last two times definitely a miss. The real issue we have is the cleanliness, or lack thereof. If the front of the house is filthy, just imagine what the back looks like. We won't be back.

The sign on the door says that the diner closes at 9:00 PM. We got there at 8:30 PM and they said they are not taking any more sit-down customers. They said they could only do take-out. We got our take-out food, which took about 20 minutes for them to cook. While we were waiting, another guy came in around 8:40 or 8:45 to order food to-go. They told him that the kitchen's closed and that he could go to the Burger King or McDonalds down the street instead. When we finally tried the food, it was so-so. Not great, but not really bad either. I think the customer service was bad. I don't know who's managing the place, but it doesn't seem good that they aren't taking customers 20 minutes before closing time. I think the workers just wanted to get home as soon as possible, so they just either sent customers away. Very poor business practices.

Ahh this place brings back memories. I used to come very late night when I was around 16 or 17 after having snuck out with friends. I don't remember much about the food, ahh how i miss being young and stupid with nothing better to do!!!

Had breakfast here today with my parents in this small old 50-70's style diner. The outside of this old diner appears to be a step up from having its windows boarded, heh. If you happen to be over 200lb you may have issues sitting at the center booths, very tight fit. Also the center booths don't have juke box access so the diner remained music-less and quiet while we were their. Atleast 3 servers just standing around upfront at any given time (not sure why such a small place with no customers even needs that much wait staff). We ended up having 2 servers when we first sat down and both managed to mess up my moms drink and breakfast order. The servers seemed a bit unsure at times, perhaps they are new or not well trained?? Bacon was tough and chewy, pancakes were dry and plain tasting (but edible), the scrambled eggs were the best thing and they were a bit weird looking (triangle eggs??). Moms biscuits and sausage gravy had no actual sausage in it so she was a bit disapointed especially after reading some of the rave reviews on it here. They don't charge for refils like another person said on here but the drink glasses are small (maybe hold a cup of fluid). I wouldn't recommend this place **1.5 star** (thats me feeling generous), stick with IHOP or something else instead.

I really want there to be a good local diner in the area, so I was excited to try Frank's. Sadly, I have only bad things to say. The exterior was so lifeless we had to go to the door and look in to make sure it was really open. The service wasn't exactly unfriendly, but very slow and mistake-laden - both of our orders were wrong when they came out. The food was all bland and terrible. I didn't like anything that we got, and we ended up paying and leaving without finishing anything. Like I said, I really wanted to like the place, but I guess I'll keep hoping I discover another diner in the area, because this one isn't for me.

I've driven by this place countless times but never tried it. After reading reviews I was a bit skeptical but wanted to give it a try. This is the quintessential greasy spoon diner. Frank's has all the diner classics and they serve beer and wine. The decor is your basic diner decor - a bit dated but it adds to the atmosphere. The air smells faintly of stale coffee and cigarettes, a throwback to times of yore. Everyone in my group enjoyed their food: 2 breakfasts and one sandwich. The sodas are on the small side and you only get one free refill - so be warned! Unfortunately, I don't think this place is open 24/7 anymore (despite what the sign outside says). This would have been a great place to come late-night.

Dear Franks Diner, You looked SO promising from the outside.. You really did. After a night of dancing at Merriweather for Phish my friend and I were looking for a place to get some good diner grub, and a beer for a little hair of the dog. Alas, my GPS leads us to Franks Diner... We entered and were quickly seated. We asked for a beer while looking at the menu the girl looked at my ID, smiled and said thanks. I have a NY state ID so anyone that knows them, they are not like any other ID in terms of material and laminant. The girl returned to tell me she wouldn't serve me but would serve my friend from Colorado, b/c my ID was claimed fake.. um, hello i'm 27.. We politely asked for the manager.. She came whisking thru (I sweaarrr I could here the Wicked Witch of the West theme song following right behind her) She promptly told me again, my ID was fake and that the laminant was fake. She told us she just got her liqour license (which apparently" just" meant 6 months ago).. She refused to serve me, was extremely rude and yelled at us.. her customers!! If she were smart, she would have checked the lovely ID book they give you when you recieve your liquor license that's what they are there for, situations for NEWBIES like her. But she refused... extremely unprofessional... Rude, and unwelcoming. We stood up and left promptly... I probably would have run up your biggest tab that day Franks Diner.. You missed out.. But lucky for us we found a little gem down the street where the bartender laughed at the story bringing out her ID book for the heck of it.. The beers flowed freely, the music was great, and the food was AWESOME.. I guess you did us a favor. Fate has a funny way of filling my belly. Me WINNING! Franks diner i'm sorry to say you FAIL.

Don't let the decor get you down! While most diners go for retro red with chrome, this one features early 90's mauve and dark-wood laminate. To go with the theme it also offers jukeboxes at every table, proudly featuring compact disc technology ;-) Frank's makes standard, decently done diner food. If you like diner fare, you'll like this; if you don't, you won't. The prices are a tad high for the food, but there is a M-F breakfast special for $4.99 that is a great deal. I loved my pancakes, eggs, and bacon (the breakfast special), but the biscuits and hashbrowns on my sweetie's plate were a little `meh.' Nice waitresses, decent coffee. What more could you ask for in a diner?

  • Adria M.

Gross! I'm giving 2 stars and that's because of the friendly service. I ordered scrambled eggs w/cheese and pancakes. The eggs were from a carton and the pancakes should be renamed brickcakes. I could only finish 1/2 of a pancake because they were so heavy and dry. I've heard great things about this place, so I may consider giving Frank's another chance... But for now, no thanks to Frank's

Best sausage gravy ever. Ever. It's a little diner off of 95. If you are craving greasy diner food and can handle driving, go here. If you are craving piles of sausage gravy coating biscuits, drive here faster. Do not expect awesome service...most of the servers are 16 and are obviously way cooler and smarter than you. Just appreciate that they will bring you delicious greasy food and/or gravy. Oh, they also have giant homemade cakes that I never get to try because I'm too full from the gravy pile. Sucks.

It started well. Real "diner feel, nice people, reasonable menu. Most of the food was good, with the exception of the greasiest hash browns I have ever seen. However, they lost me when a refill was in fact a second full cost cup. Three stars reluctantly, but I won't be back.

Alright. We tried again. This time we asked if they had biscuits and gravy. They did. It wasn't great. Unless you are okay with $8 worth of microwaved frozen biscuits and flavorless gravy. This place may have been a gem once, but save yourself the trouble and go to Hardee's.

  • Jill O.

Passing through town staying at the hotel next door. Exhausted, we grabbed a turkey club, Reuben and a slice of some delish sweet potato cake. Friendly service, reasonably priced items perfectly executed.

Stopped for lunch on a 12 hr road trip. Took a minute to find it but worth it. Best tuna melt I ever had! Fries were so so but the staff were very friendly and the place was super clean. Awesome little diner!

  • Gregory O.

Sucks.
