Tried Sammys for the first time this weekend, had an order delivered. The person who answered the phone was very friendly, as was the gentleman who delivered my food. AND it was delivered in the time they said. Szechuan combination was nice, esp. for a delivery/carryout place - just spicy enough, lots of beef, chicken, and shrimp, and it had a bit of a smoky flavor which I thought was good. Thankfully the spring rolls weren't greasy as they are at so many other carryouts; taste was so-so. Will try this place again.

I want to piggy back off of another reviewer that said they overcharge. It's very true. We just called to place an order and I told my husband to ask how they are charging. We ordered two combo platters at the same prices. Even with tax added they still over charged us. My husband kept asking why does it cost more and the person wasn't making any sense. I could understand if there was a delivery charge, but the person never said that. So we were being charged $17 for a $15 meal?? No way. We cancelled the ordered. Any time you place an order over the phone, make sure you are being charged correctly. Lesson learned.

Great food, but cheaters. They regularly overcharge you by a dollar. When you call them on it, they say sorry and correct the price. This has happened more than three times. I finally figured out that it's their standard practice. Tally up your food and add the tax, then see if your figure matches the figure they give you before you confirm your order.

Fried wontons were chewy and tough. Shrimp fried rice was fried rice with a few shrimp tossed on the top of the package. Hunan chicken and G.Tso were good, as recommended. The "cheesesteak egg roll" thing was ... funny. Overall, happy with the meal. P.S. Forgot to mention: Everything wasn't quite ready, so they comped the shrimp fried rice. Very nice of them.

Need something cheap, try Sammy's but don't try everything. Stick to the Hunan Chicken and Chicken with Vegetables lunch specials for $5.50 including a soda. Stay away from the Cheese Steak sandwich and General Tsao's Chicken.

I've tried quite a few Chinese restaurants in Hyattsville and this is definitely my favorite and "go to!" The steak & cheese egg roll is a must! Other good dishes - Kung Pao Chicken, Chicken with Cashews, Orange Chicken, Sesame Chicken, and General Tso's Chicken. They don't use MSG by default, so no need to ask, which is nice. There is quite a bit of a language barrier as I always have to spell our street name which is AMERICA, so that is a little annoying, but it's worth being patient to get some good food!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
