I was running late for work. But I needed some aspirin & sucrets to knock out this cold that was trying to take me down. So. I pulled into CVS. Grabbed the needed items. And then... The neon sign caught my eye. "Open"..."Bakery"..."Desayuno"... Well, old wives say you're supposed to feed a cold, right? Well, Leyla's Bakery fed me well that morning. I marched in & sat at the bar. Got my coffee right away. OMG it was strong & black. In spite of the language difficulty I was experiencing, I managed to order huevos rancheros from (maybe) the owner's 16-year-old daughter before she left for school. I am just getting into soft eggs. This was like my 3rd or 5th one. I loved thishuevos rancheros. I think I loved it so much because there was plenty of other stuff to mix into the runny yolk on the plate. Salsa, rice, beans, avocado, plus tortillas on the side. It was all delicious! It did not break my bank either. I was definitely pleased and will absolutely return. Even if I have to/Especially if I get to order from a HS'er who is willing to let me muddle thru messed up Spanish for a really long time before hitting me with the "I speak English." I'm a fan. 04/07/2012

My lunch at Leyla's had to be the loudest meal I've ever experienced in my life. They were absolutely blasting music from a juke-box. It was made even more jarring by the fact that there were short silent gaps between the songs which only served to make me wish for a more peaceful atmosphere. The other issue was that the kitchen was very slow. It's unfortunate because the food was actually pretty good - not the best, but pretty good. The rice was excellent, however. And no complaints about the price. It was super cheap. I'd be willing to overlook the slow service but since it is so loud I can't come back.

It is difficult to have a decent conversation with yelling to the other person due to the loud music, it's not a family restaurant

Ordered Pollo a la brasa with fries and rice to go,,,should have gone more ethnic but that's what I had a taste for. Sat at the bar to wait for my food, Another customer's fajitas came out smoking hot and smelling and looking very good. My chicken was flavorful, hot and fresh but I don't care for shoe string fries. The rice was pretty good though- mixed vegetables mixed in. The white sauce that comes with the chicken was ok too. I don't care for the green/spicy one. I was thinking as I waited that I would love to bring a large group of friends or family in for some fun and cheap eats- full bar, 3-4 pool tables in an adjacent room. A few guys were having fun with drinks and pool as I waited. The prices are excellent, for $9 got half chicken and two sides- enough for two people. Friendly waitresses

After rushing to make the barbershop before they close, which is in this neighborhood, I usually come past Leyla's. They have friendly service, good food, and reasonable prices. I always get the chicken flautas and chicken tamales. I can't really speak on their baked goods.
