They have the best pupusas in the world!!!!!! I come here only for pupusas! I haven't tried anything else from here because their pupusas are just that good! I give this place a 5 for that because I'm sure everything else they serve taste just as well as the pupusas

It was an okay experience. I guess I was looking for a more Mexican experience and not Latin America. Next time, I will get a steak dinner. I saw plenty of those being prepared and sold. I had a steak taco and that was the best part of my meal. The steak is superb!

This is a sweet place. I had the fried fish dinner and a pupusa. Both were excellent. I got a whole fish and it was perfectly cooked. The horchata was very tasty. The service was very attentive, and not in a bad way. The prices are super affordable. I would have given it five stars, but the bathroom needs cleaning.

It's a humble establishment with delicious food, good portion sizes, and great pricing! If you like Salvadorian food I definitely suggest you try it. They have quite a few dishes to choose from, and my favorite is their sea food soup. The "popusas locas" are also very popular because of their size; they are big! I got full with one and it was so good! The only downside (for some) is that they don't serve any alcohol, but that's okay. Who drinks in the day anyways?

I absolutely love this place ! I always order the Carne Esada with rice and a side of salad. They cook and season the meat perfectly every single time ! Overall, the place is always clean and the workers are very polite ! I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a tasty meal at a reasonable price !

Very clean location and the staff is attentive. The food came out quick and was very tasty and flavorful. My burrito was good and filled nicely. My only complaint (it really isn't anything to truly complain about) is the soft drinks are in a bottle so be prepared for no free refills. The chicken is great (my main reason for going). But a nice spot for q quick meal.

2.5 stars. Don't understand the good reviews. This place was cheap, and service fast, but the food was slightly below average quality and portions were small. Had a chicken burrito--bland, with pieces of chicken bone inside of it. Wife had the refried beans and rice--beans were incredibly salty. And they don't serve any beer?? At a burrito/taco place? Really? I've been on a Mexican/Salvadorian kick lately and had El Rinconcito in downtown DC yesterday where my burrito was far better than this place, and even with an hour wait and twice the price, I'd go to El Rinconcito before returning to Emerita's again.

I really like Emerita's & eat there frequently. This humble restaurant always boast good fresh food prepared to order. One of my favorite dishes is a seafood mix in heavy cream. By far one of the best reasons to go is the lovely couple who owns the restaurant & goes out of the way to make sure that you are pleased & wish to return. If you don't feel like cooking & want something hot & fresh give them a chance, you won't be disappointed.

I enjoy eating Salvadorian food, and even though I've lived in Brentwood MD all my life, I never tried this place until about a week ago! The food is very good, and the prices are even better. I ordered the half chicken, Spanish rice, and salad with a side order of yuca. It was nice and hot, tasted fresh, and only cost me $10! I had enough to eat a full meal the next day. I also tried their pork and cheese pupusa today (only $1.50 each!) and I will admit, it was very delicious. I'd say it's worth the money, and you should definitely try it if you like Mexican or Salvadorian cuisine!

The only thing I have to say is EXCELLANT!! This place have absolutely amazing charbroiled rotisserie chicken that taste wonderfully delicious but also good for u. You wont regret it especially the portion for the price. I order the whole chicken with rice and salad for $13.25..Wow what a deal!

This was my second lunch trip to Emerita's and I enjoyed my meal each time. Though mainly Salvadoran food, there were a variety of menu options. I went for the pupusas and one of the soups. The pupusas were excellent, charred just right on the outside and stuffed generously with chicharron and cheese. The tortillas that came with the soup were also pupusa-like, sans filling. The mondongo (tripe) soup was also very tasty, a bit different than the Mexican menudo I've had elsewhere, more veggies inside the soup - cabbage, corn on the cob, plantain - still very satisfying. The wait staff was very kind and courteous. As a previous reviewer mentioned, knowing Spanish is a plus - the specials are in Spanish, for example - but English is spoken as well. The place gets a steady business, and there were many folks in there enjoying their meals. Large plates seemed to be the norm. There was ample seating either in front of the counter or in the restaurant portion next door. There are multiple TVs but they are set to a reasonable volume. The decor is simple and it is bright and spacious inside.

Not sure why the other reviewers gave this place such high marks. I felt it was mediocre, at best. This was a great disappointment, after seeing other yelpers give it their blessing. I even considered giving it two stars, but the employees & manager (owner?) were very friendly and sincere. So, +1 bonus for them. I'm torn. Part of me wants this mom&pop style restaurant to survive the perpetual barrage by fast-food joints in the neighborhood; yet, part of me knows I'll probably never come back here.

There's a sign on the front door at Emerita's that says "PUPUSAS LOCAS." Crazy pupusas? I had to look it up and find out that pupusas locas are just really big (plate-sized) pupusas. Met with my husband after work to see what it's all about. Well, for one thing, I didn't see pupusas locas on the menu, but I bet they would have made me one if I asked. There was a whole lot of other stuff on the menu, though--Tex-Mex and Salvadoran dishes at very reasonable prices. Our waitress didn't happen to speak English (though some of the other staff does) and we got to test our Spanish skills when we ordered our food. I consider this a plus. Also a plus is the availability of horchata ("con hielo?" means "with ice?" and I was ashamed that I did not remember the word "hielo"). The (regular old cheese) pupusas were great, rounded out with a well-balanced helping of yuca con chicharrones and all the fixins. Too much greasy goodness for us to finish. Guess we'll have to come back and try something different! Maybe I'll go for the pupusa loca after all.
