(Wheaton Location) I gave it 2 stars because the food was decent. But the service was absolutely horrible. Unless you're a man that's there to get drunk then i wouldn't recommend it. While our waitress was smiley and flirty with the men across from our table who were only drinking, she had the sourest face whenever she approached ours. No one greeted us at the door, the food took nearly an hour, and there was only ONE other table of people there that was eating. She took my husband's beer before he even finished it, never came to ask if we needed anything else, drinks were never refilled, and she looked bothered whenever we would call her over, which we had to do over 4 times. I'd been to this place years ago and enjoyed it. But if this is what the service is like now, then we most definitely will not be returning.

I stopped here after getting lost trying to get to the University. I ate until my hearts content, for about 12 bucks. The food was fresh, flavorful, and nicely presented and the beer was cold. It is pretty far from where I live so I probably would not go out of my way to go back, but if I was in the area, oh yeah!!

OK, similar to my review of Taco Mex, this caters to the local Latin American native. Puente features damn good food, very loud music (Karaoke night will bust your eardrums after 9 on Sat), occasional drunks, and hardly a word of English in the place. Been there a dozen times and can count all the Anglo customers I've ever seen on one hand. Not that it's a bad thing- quite the contrariorerrific thing. The all-waitress service is capable and friendly, though again they're more focused on flirtation with the guys. Go for the food and the feel of being somewhere far from the USA. If you feel uncomfortable sticking out like a sore thumb based on Anglo ethnicity, this is NOT the place for you. If you like damn good Mexican / Salvadoran food, YUM!

I drove about just a little more than an hour to find this restaurant. I had heard some good things about it so I had to check it out. As we walked into the black light lit dining room I could see the Karaoke stage that supposedly starts playing at 9pm on Fridays & Saturdays! We were promptly seated and asked if we care for a beverage. We both ordered Jugo de Tamarindo that usually is very tasty but this one looked like flavored water and tasted worse! I took one sip and put to the side, and ordered me a Stella beer instead :-) I've had Lomo Saltado at La Granja de Oro, El Chalan, & at the Salsa Room so when I saw the menu included a Mariscos Saltados I was excited! When my food arrived, nicely presented it looked a little dull! The potatoes were way too moist; almost to a point of being called mashed potatoes, the Shrimps, the mussels, and the whatever else was included just tasted bland! So No, I don't think I'll order Lomo from this place again! If I ever do make the trip to Maryland again I'll like to come during Karaoke hours because at 3pm there isn't much to look at! Where were them servers that one of the reviewers was talking about? Our server was pretty descent and she seemed to know what she was doing because she did include a 15% tips on our check :-) I did add another 5% in addition just because I always tip 20% or more! I do feel kinda discriminated when they add the tip on my check though but perhaps that is because this place is mostly patronized by people who love the Cerveza and don't tip well! I will comeback but for the Cerveza and the Karaoke music! I hear they have contests and although I cannot sing, I've got some friends that do so I look forward to coming back ;-)

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
