I don't usually bother to review chain restaurants, but I was very impressed with this particular Ruby Tuesdays. My sister and I were in Hagerstown for the Antietam Illumination, and this was the only familiar looking place to eat, and I was really craving their salad bar. The wait was over 30 minutes, which I found odd for a place like this, but it also seemed like the only decent place to eat in the area. It was worth the wait because everything was so great. Our server was super-nice, and the managers were great. We ordered medium rare burgers, and for once, they came out that way! Our mango teas were always full - no "they come from the bar" excuses. Great service and great food. If more chain places were like this, they wouldn't get a bad rep. We were so impressed, we asked to speak to the manager to let her know. She was surprised that we were complimenting and not complaining. It felt good to let her know we were impressed with the place. This is a good choice when you're looking for a meal in the area.

Excellent service-super nice waitress (Tina). Great food as usual. Ordered the sirloin. New grilled salmon also good. Vegetables not overcooked either.

I agree that this is a great chain. The food and service is consistent across the nation, and there really are some good veggie alternatives. The salad bar is the best I've encountered. They even have edamame! Hagerstown offers several other great veggie options as well. Red Curry serves a wide variety of menu, and customizable Thai, Chinese and other Asian fare. Delicious and always fresh tasting. Panera and Sakura are other regular stops. For really unique and local/organic veggie (and other) options, drive to Shepardstown, WV for a meal at Stone Soup Bistro, or try 3 Onions or The Press Room. Both will offer a couple veggie veggie options, as well as customizing others.

I'm sorry, our experience at this Ruby Tuesday was not so good. For starters: we were seated and our waitress brought drinks, took our order and our food was delivered, but we had no silverware to eat it with until several minutes after our food arrived when she came back and ask if everything was ok.........Hello!! NO silverware. Another couple was seated next to us later and they too were never brought any silverware. The guy had to go get it for him and his companion. What is wrong with the staff there!? Our waitress was inattentive and lost in space. I had to call to her to get a refill on my tea. Most Ruby Tuesday's I have been to are very nice, but....pass this place up until they get the staff trained.

Great service and food on a busy Valentines day. I made a reservation and they had a nice tent card with our names on it at the table when we arrived. We ate steaks that evening and they were sone perfectly - medium well and medium. Broccoli was steamed perfectly. Mashed cauliflower was good but a bit milky, needs less moisture. Food was served promptly; environment was perfect. Finally. My girl would be disappointed if I didn't say that the salad bar at RT is the best around. Everything is fresh. Neatly organized and always clean. Excellent dining experience.

Small portions of food. Unlike other Ruby Tuesdays I have been to. Waited long for a table and not a big line before us. Took a long time to take our order. Never took our salad plates away. And our food seemed to take forever. Bills came to the table and they were priced wrong and orders were put on wrong bills. Food was good. All in all it wasn't a great visit. Taking this specific Tuesdays off my visit list. This is the first bad review I have ever given for a Ruby Tuesday.

No wonder the Red Lobster next door is packed with an hour wait because the food here sucks. I ordered ribeye and believe me I can cook better than what they served me. My wife ordered a seafood trio - crab cake, lobster tail and shrimps. The crabcake looked flat, the lobster tail and shrimps didn't look fresh. Even the sides were terrible. The 5 other reviews are very deceiving. Never again.

Normally, I hate chain restaurants and usually trash them. Most are an evil blight on planet earth but sometimes you have to make exceptions. Born and raised in Hagerstown and now living in Portland, OR, I visit sometimes twice a year to see family. As a vegetarian, this is virtually the only place I can eat in the whole town. Why? Because it's the only place with a salad bar, or at least a salad bar worth visiting. For that alone they get kudos. The service has always been great and the best part... Are you ready? NO SMOKING! So, good service, good salad bar, no smoking. Yup, I'm there. 12/6/2008: Visited family for Thanksgiving and yes, I ate at Ruby's. Excellent salad bar, as usual. Rob and Ashley (servers), you rock!!

I asked for the least expensive meal (about $11), receiving a small steak that I wanted to have cooked 'medium'. It was not. In fact, it was more 'well done' ! I finished the meal, but pointed out the issue. They offered to compensate me with a dessert or another glass of wine. I didn't need that, just a meal cooked as requested. RT is okay, generally, but this was a mistake.

Two stars for our waitress Tanya who knows the food sucks, that the manager could care less about the demoralized staff or his customers, and comes to work anyway because she needs the money but goes home miserable after listening to customers like me who tell her what they really think when she politely asks if everything is ok. No, Tanya, it's not ok. First. The restaurant is attractive. The fixtures are colorful, the vaulted wood ceilings are a great accent, and the booth we sat in was quite comfortable. Things go down hill from here. As soon as I sat down, I hear this buzz coming from the ceiling? WTF? It sounded like the emergency broadcast signal, but not as loud. I got up and started hunting for the origin. I asked the hostess if she heard it and she said that it was coming from the salad bar. Sure enough, the exhaust fan from the salad bar cooling unit was putting out the sound which apparently bounced off the vaulted wood ceiling which does not absorb sound, but acts like an amplifier. So, after driving 400 miles immediately before arriving at the restaurant, I was tired, hungry and on the cranky side, and the manager on duty was going to hear that this was a legitimate concern that could be very impactful in a negative way if left in its current state. I asked the hostess to please get the manager, and after several minutes the manager did not appear. F it. If the manager can't be "found" to speak with me, that speaks volumes. So back to my table I went to join my dad and we placed our order with Tanya. Dad had a chicken and pasta dish and salad bar, I ordered Bourbon salmon with mashed potatoes and broccoli. The orders come and mine is missing the broccoli. I tell Tanya and she goes off to take care of it. No worries. I put fork in mashed potatoes and I'm instantly grossed out. They tasted like what I imagined mash potatoes made with sour milk would taste like. So now the salmon. I ate it because I needed to eat something, but it was crusty, dry and ick. I have had it before at another Ruby Tuesday and it was really good. Anyway, Tanya comes by and tells me the broccoli is on its way, I really thought they had to go harvest it it was taking so long, but alas when the few sad florets arrived, they were lukewarm. I ate them anyway, because they did not taste bad, they were just not even near serving temperature. Poor Tanya comes by and asks if everything is ok and I asked her if she wanted the truth. She said she did and I blurted out what she has probably heard several times before: the food sucks! Ok, to be fair, my Coke tasted pretty good. That's usually tough to screw up. Tanya comped my meal, and the adjusted bill came to $16 and Change + tax. I added $5 for her and we went merrily on our way. Hagerstown, what's up with this place? Do you tolerate mediocrity like this? Actually, it was not even mediocre, it was abysmal and if you decide to go here, be seated in the bar area where the salad bar hum can't bother you because the ceiling is flat with acoustic absorbing tiles. The General Manager is John Cosenza. John, am I exaggerating? If I was the GM of this restaurant, I would take this review seriously because I can guarantee that this restaurant is hemorrhaging customers, quality staff, and hard earned dollars, and if you run this formula long enough there won't be a Ruby Tuesday in Hagerstown to visit. Thank you. Larry Ross Sharon, MA Delray Beach, FL

Have always enjoyed the service and atmosphere here. It's best to go for lunch or early dinner during the week; as at times they've been known to be understaffed during their busiest times. But that's a management issue not a service issue. Love the grape martini.
