I have been going to Shoreline Seafood for years, and the food has always been good. I have never had any crabs from them, but when I buy blocks of frozen whiting or seasonings for the many fish frys I throw for people, the quality of their food is always good, and reasonably priced. I wish they carried all of the House & Autry Breaders. Otherwise, a good catch. Since Jerry's Seafood on 175 closed down, they are the only other place, unless you go down to the DC Wharf. Oh well..they are cool with me.

Since crabs in the Baltimore area are at a premium price this time of the season, we decided to truck on down to Gambrills to Shoreline Seafood. They always have the best crab prices anyway. I got the 3 for $65 medium females and they had a special where l got one dozen free, which was not bad for the price. The seasoning is good and doesn't break me out, like some highly salted and spicy ones can do, but they were a bit stingy with it this time and l had to break out the Old Bay when l got home. The crabs range in size from small females to superior jumbo swampdogs! Shoreline also has an array of other seafood goodies such as shrimp, oysters, clams, all types of fish, crab legs, alligator fillets, conch meat, octopus, frog legs and even muskrat..what ever floats your boat seafood (and swamp) wise. So, if you are in the area, you should stop by.

I've tried their fried fare and was very underwhelmed, but this visit for steamed crabs was completely enjoyable. We ordered a couple of pounds of crabs steamed in old bay seasoning and let me tell ya, they were very tasty. You can only get stuff to go, but that is O.K. with me, because I really don't want any witnesses watching me devour crab meat dipped in lemony butter sauce drip all aver my crab eating clothes. I'll be back on my next trip to MD for some more fresh steamed whole crab!

I generally try not to write a review after just one visit, unless the visit was awesomely good.... or majorly bad. Live and let live I say, but just felt like giving my thoughts anyway, with an out.... I'll give this place another try and then will update. And here's the major reason why. I HATE Old Bay seasoning. Well actually I don't hate it completely but I generally prefer it in VERY small amounts in my seafood. I'm not a native DMVer who I didn't grow up with it. The one thing I always forget when I go to crab spots in this area is that it is generally literally doused onto every single thing. Other than Hot N Juicy Crawfish, most other spots rely heavily on it. For me its just way too salty and in large amounts just completely deadens the taste buds in my mouth. Dramatic I know.... but its true. At my regular spots I always ask for "no seasoning" and its ok for me. Took a chance on Shoreline one random day when I had a taste for crabs but didn't want to hit up my regular spot. I do have to say, the people at the counters were super nice and it wasn't too long of a wait for my crabs. Prices were decent and they had a wide variety of fresh and prepared fish and seafood options staring me right in the face. Ordered a dozen large female crabs and a half dozen male swamp dogs. The large was great size and oh my on the swamp dog size. I'd definitely have plenty of leftovers. Drove the 35 minutes home starving and immediately got to work. The minute I opened the bag I realized my huge mistake. I forgot to tell them to "hold the Old Bay".... I could only get through a few crabs before I gave up. The crabs were literally caked with Old Bay. And honestly, the swamp dog crabs were watery and light. Not a god mix. To be fair, the next day I carefully rinsed the crabs (yes I did!) and reheated them. The female crabs were delicious!!! The swamp dogs.... meh.... I'm not a big crab eater so the food lasted about 3 days and on the 3rd day, the female crabs were still delicious. Since the females were delicious, I'll give them another chance. I didn't try the prepared foods side and I wanna try them again. Next time I'll have to set an alert to HOLD THE OLD BAY!

Been to Shoreline a few times. Food has always been good. I'm allergic to shellfish, so eating backfin crabcakes isn't necessarily the doc's prescription. However, they are good as hell!!! Pop a Benadryl and I'm good. The crabcakes are delicious. When they say baseball sized, they mean it. Crab meat is a mix of lumps & broken pieces & has a nice flavor. The breading adds a decent texture to it. The spices are so good I don't even have to throw hot sauce on em. That's a rarity. LOL. Hush puppies are the best in the area. Fried hard & very flavorful. They sort've take me back to the old Chesapeake Bay Seafood House days. Even as good as they are, nothing comes close to how Chesapeake did em. The sides are cool. I usually get a stuffed baked potato and broccoli. However this time, they forgot my broccoli. That's pretty much the difference between a 3 star rating and higher. You can't forget the sides folks, especially not my favorite vegetable. However when I called back and advised them of the error, they offered me a credit on my next visit. We'll see how that goes. Overall, a good experience as always... minus the missing broccoli.

This is our go to place for great steamed crabs. Each year my company hosts a crab feast for our employees, and today was ours. Picked up five steaming hot bushels, ready at exactly the right time, and of to the park I went. The crabs were the star of the show for sure....heavy, full of sweet meat, and nicely seasoned! We keep coming back year after year, and this is why!

Shoreline Seafood is a family owned business that I absolutely love. They have so much to offer customers each day, including the best crabs around! They are open Sunday through Thursday (closed Tuesdays) from 11am - 8pm. Fridays and Saturdays they stay open later, however, I still feel as if I get the best deals and fastest service on a Wednesday and Thursday. If you want to come in on a weekend for pick-up, make sure you call ahead! As a yelper you are obviously great at maneuvering through the Internet--make sure you download and/or print their coupons from their website! They have new coupons available every month! You can use the coupons for the whole month! Last time I went they had live crabs, live lobster, and live Dungeness crabs for sale in all different sizes. They offer fresh fillet fish, whole fish, steaked fish, shrimp, scallops, Chesapeake Bay oysters, Chincoteague oysters, blue point oysters, and clams (about 6 different kinds). If you're someone who likes to try new things then go ahead and order some frozen frog legs or alligator! If you're not sure how to cook them ask the co-owner Mr. Mike for directions! HE IS THE BEST =) Basically family. *Please note that a lot of people can see the restaurant from the road, however, many always miss the entrance. From the north Shoreline Seafood on the left, in the median between North and South Rt 3, just after the light at Johns Hopkins and Evergreen Roads. From the south Shoreline Seafood is before next traffic light at Johns Hopkins Road. It comes up fast so be prepared--people fly on this road.

Just got home from Shoreline. I purchased some Perch, Tilapia, Spots and some shrimp. Immediately i smelled the Perch but we went ahead and cooked everything up anyway. Needless to say I trashed the Perch and could not stomach the shrimp. Guess I'll try Wegmans.

They need to shut down for two weeks and clean the place. It has gone downhill from when they first opened.

Carryout only: One of the few places where you can get steamed crabs to go all year round. Problem is that the quality is not consistent...sometimes excellent, sometimes terrible. Before ordering crabs ask if they are heavy and when they were cooked. They will sell you reheats and lightweight (big but empty) crabs if don't you talk to them before placing your order. Shoreline uses a "crab shocker" to paralyze their live crabs to keep them from tearing their claws off during steaming.

Everytime I go to buy something, I'm always greeted and served pronto. Jason is the usual guy I asked for. This time however I was greeted by the niece of the owners and was very helpfully given tips on how to buy raw oysters. She took the time to educate me on the difference in taste and how to shuck them on my own. I happily left with 3 pounds of live fresh salmon (on sale) and a dozen bay oysters and an oyster knife. Upon getting home shucking oysters was easier than I thought with a couple of youtube videos on how to shuck them. All in all I'm a happy customer and I shop there whenever I need fresh seafood. PS: Their soups are awesome. (If you're lactose intolerant get the Maryland Crab soup!)

Never been disappointed here! I've had steamed crabs and shrimp from the fresh seafood side and I've ordered broiled crab cakes from the carryout side and everything has been great! Even when it seems like it's super packed in there, the wait is not as long as you would imagine it to be. The prices for crabs are pretty good too. Not to mention, I got super jumbo crabs here over Memorial Day weekend and they were HUGE and delicious! LoL at the reviewer who said "seafood shops should never smell of fish!" Okay, dude.

Never had a bad batch of anything here. Ever. Always delicious. Always fresh. Always quick! My family and I have gone to Shoreline to purchase (mainly) crabs several times and we keep going back because they're consistently excellent. Shoreline's a bit of a drive from where we live, but we pay the extra gas because they're so darn good. In my humble opinion, if a business can be quick and efficient on a busy day WITHOUT sacrificing quality, then I'm a fan. And that's why I'm a fan of Shoreline Seafood Inc. My family loves to get crabs on those days that are typically the worst: i.e. holidays, Sundays after church and late afternoons. Every time I've come to Shoreline it's been one of those busy days. Our latest? Mother's Day 2014. Of course the line was almost out of the door, but guess what? We got in and out in under 30 minutes. How amazing is that? The shop, though not the prettiest or cleanest looking, is staffed with a friendly team of people who don't even show annoyance on super busy days. In fact, I'd say that they enjoy those days more than the regular ones! We always find ourselves chuckling with the staff as they deal with the difficult process of sorting out orders and grabbing money from the hands of hungry humans. Crabs are ALWAYS well seasoned, fresh, and filled with meat. I've had male and females here, both regular size and large and every time it's been superb. Their steamed shrimp is also delicious too. When you up open that bag, prepare for your life to change. LOL. Now let me go ahead and conclude this review, I'm getting hungryyyyy.

Let me start by saying I don't write reviews. Everyone has a bad experience from time to time and it's not worth complaining about. But I feel this time I have to say something. I have been going to Shoreline for years. I even had them cater my wedding of 300 people with their steamed on site crab truck. I buy gift cards from them to give as gifts. I think I'm a loyal customer. Last Sunday I got 2 dozen crabs to go. I picked them up at about 7 at night. I got them home (40 minutes away), set up my table to enjoy my favorite food in the world, steamed crabs. The first crab was skinny, dirty and tasted like chemicals. My kids were eating the crabs and said "momma. These taste like cleaning chemicals". I said "you're right guys. Let's not eat them". So I put 21 crabs in the fridge and threw away the 3 we attempted to eat. I knew they were already closed so didn't call to tell them of the problem. I got busy Monday and forgot to call. I called Tuesday to find out they were closed. I left a message on the crab managers voice mail asking if I should keep them (cause I can see people eating all of them then complaining but we didn't eat one) or throw them away. Trash day is Thursday and I got no response on Wednesday so I threw them away Wednesday night. I stopped by the next Sunday when I was in the area and told the manager of my issue. The manger said he was never given my message. He said to get a refund I needed to bring the unused crabs to them for them to return to the crabber they bought them from. Are you kidding? I was supposed to drive 40 minutes there and 40 minutes back, days after buying a perishable stinky item to get a refund for inedible product after calling and asking what I should do? I spent $60 and threw it in the trash. They lost what I think is a good customer. So remember people. Keep old crabs in your car to show them to get your money back.

found this place via yelp looking to bring some crabs to a friend's house. they have cooked food, fresh seafood and lots of crabs, legs and whole. the price was very good and they steam but they don't season. they also had she crab soup and it was good. I would definitely drive thus commute to get crabs and soup. they even have decent dinner packages.

Excellent crabs usually stop there when in town. However customer service is impossible. Expect to get put on hold for a long time before you talk to anyone. Place your order early because otherwise it will be a wait. Carryout only.

  • Rick U.

Ordered the mahi mahi, and calamari. Mahi was terrible, under cooked, lousy flavor & incredibly small pieces. The calamari tasted like they packed in dirt and old bay. Will never go back!

Best crabs ever. But of course it's mothers day and there's only about a thousand people here. Of course I came the wrong day.

I grew up on the shores of Lake Erie, lived in south Florida, and I've lived in Maryland for 9 years...Shoreline, without question, has the freshest highest quality wholesale seafood I've ever had. 100s of visits to Shoreline, and my family has never been disappointed.

  • Teagan Q.

Warning this is not an eat in establishment. You have to take your food to go and that is perfectly fine with me and my husband. We would rather pay bottom dollar price for top dollar food rather than go to some hyped up place that charges you for the ice in your drink. We got "The Shellfish Lover" plus two crab cakes. That's two 1 1/4 lb lobsters, 12 oysters, 12 clams, 12 mussels, 1lb of shrimp, and two baseball sized blackfin crab cakes. The food was amazingly fresh, came out fast, was a good price, and tasted AMAZING! The nice lady who helped us with our choice of food was so sweet. I see other reviews say that they always have to wait in a line for service, maybe it's the snow but we didn't have to wait to order and even had a conversation about living in FL with the people behind the counter. Over all our experience here was great and I would for sure come back!

  • Ana B.

We ordered the "baseball" backfin crab cake sandwich and it was delicious! Wish they were close to home because I'll eat this sandwich everyday. It's goooooood! Staff here are nice, friendly. The daughter of the owner is behind the carry out section. We ordered cream of crab soup the first time around and it was delicious too. Excellent service each time.

  • Duchess T.

Never disappointed when I get seafood from this place. It's fresh and the staff is friendly, except for the people at the soup counter who act like they really don't want to be there sometimes . I usually get the steamed blue crabs and they're always good. A bit pricey, and sometimes it's questionable whether you're paying a fair price. I always order swamp dogs and sometimes they are humongous bit other times they look like regular large crabs...pfft

Every year for mothers day i get up early and head to Shoreline to grab 8 dozen jumo crabs and 4 lbs of jumbo shrimp. Each and every year they have a 100+ person line waiting to get crabs. Glad i get up early and bring my folding chair out. I was 2nd in line this year and plan to be just as punctual next year. Jumbo crabs are jumbo as stated. Very tasty and seasoned with alot of old bay, just how we like it. Shrimp are HUGE. They are very tasty and you only need a few to get almost filled up. One of the go-to places for fresh steamed crabs in the Wash. DC area.

They used to be good. Maybe like 2 summers ago they started falling off. Summertime--expect long lines. We went this past weekend--my hubby experienced "wishful thinking"--he was wishing they had crabs available. He was itching for some!!! Turned out they did not--so to settle his Old Bay hankering--he opted for some steam shrimp. I noticed they smelled funny when we were almost home. We happened to be driving my car so I was a little pissed--trying to get a bad seafood smell out of a car is nothing to play with. Once we got home they "LIT" my house up like a you-know-what! We instantly trashed them. Well we walked them to a dumpster from the builder next door. They could not stay in my house. They looked fine but the smell was something to wrecken with. I hope Wegman's have crabs this summer!!

  • Eliizabeth E.

Seafood shops should never smell of fish. This shop smells of fish!!! I would not buy fish to eat here. I have bought a fish to use to make a fish print here. They have a nice section of whole fish if you are interested in using for printing fish.

I had never been to this place before...until yesterday. I was in the mood for some seafood and decided to search the Internet to find some place that was somewhat close to where I live. I came across this place and decided to take the 20 mile trip there and back to see what this place was all about. This is a seafood market that offers lunch and dinner platters to go. It is not a sit down restaurant so don't make a trip here if you are thinking of sitting and eating. The market has fish, scallops, clams, oysters, mussels, lobster and an assortment of different crabs. I am a fan of MD blue crab (naturally being an MD native). So I ended up getting the Crab Pot special which was $49.99. It came with a dozen steamed blue crabs, a pound of snow crab clusters, a pound of dungeness crab clusters and a quart of MD crab soup. I also added a pound of their giant steamed shrimp which was steamed with Old Bay seasoning. The crabs were the regular size. Despite being small they were tasty and meaty. The crab clusters were very good. The meat was tender and sweet. The crab soup was excellent. I love a good bowl of MD crab soup. The giant shrimp were spiced just right. If you like seafood, particularly shrimp and crabs, give this place a try. I am pretty sure you will like this place.

One of the better seafood markets/restaurants in the immediate area. They have just about every fish you would want, every shellfish, in addition or other prepared foods. I keep missing the shad roe here but I will get it one of these days. The 1st time I went here I got a few lb of steamed shrimp, these shrimp were not all that good, not sure if they were not as fresh as they should have been or what but the taste was just not right....not bad enough for me to return them or throw them away as I live 35 minutes away from this place...thankfully...I did not get sick. The next few times I went everything was as it should have been bushel of whatever the step down from swamp dogs are, steamed shrimp, and oysters.

I been to Shoreline several times for steamed Blue Crab. They have never left me down. Convenient location. I was unimpressed with their fried fish, but a go to for steamed crab. Also a good assortment of fresh seafood including shellfish.

We got crabs from here twice before and they were good. The third time we got a dozen and at least 4 of them were empty and as a whole they were small. I called to speak with a manager and he said we could bring the empty ones back and would replace them. We had already thrown them in the trash so I told him that and said "just wanted you guys to know the crabs weren't as good and we were disappointed no need to replace them." He responds that "he can't take my word for it and would need to see the crabs for proof." I told him that was ridiculous it's not like I was looking for a refund just wanted you to know the crabs sucked and do better next time. I couldn't even finish my sentence before he rudely interrupts and says it's their policy to see the crabs and before agreeing with me. I was done. I asked for his name and his response was "what's your name" and starts laughing. Worst customer service experience ever. I cannot believe this guy "Snookie" is the manager. He's the rudest, most ignorant person I've dealt with in the food industry. I will never return.

Shoreline Seafood is a local favorite that never disappoints. They consistently have the freshest crabs for the cheapest prices in the area. Why go to a sit-down restaurant and pay more for smaller crabs? I have also noticed that their medium and large crabs run about the same size, so I save some money and order mediums from Shoreline. The "mediums" and shoreline are what you would pay for "larges" anywhere else. My family has ordered crabs from Shoreline for years, and the staff are always friendly and happy to assist with any questions you may have. While their crabs are my favorite thing to order, they also have a huge assortment of fresh fish, shrimp, oysters, lobsters, clams, and more. Shoreline also offers delicious home made soups. Try their cream of crab and you'll never be the same! The bottom line... good service, great value, tasty and fresh seafood. It's a win!

I've been going here for years! My cousin used to get crabs here for us when we visited or they came-out to visit us. Quality has always been consistently good even in the "lean" years. When I do visit, I always make sure to pick-up a bushel of crabs for the ride home to San Diego.

Shoreline catered our crab feast in October 2013. It was the best! Not just because the employees were super professional, but every food item was outstanding. We had serious crab eaters and many said this was the best they had been to. We are having them back October 2014!

I will have to come to their actual restaurant one night because I believe the stand they set up at the piney orchard street festival did them a huge disservice. I got the fried shrimp basket it was overwhelmingly fishy smelling and I just couldn't bring myself to eat it after the first bite. My son got the chicken strip basket. The chicken was so tough and stringy he couldn't chew it. I was completely disappointed by the complete lack of customer service. Not just that but general manners and couth. I understand they were at a festival but shouldn't they take that as an opportunity to wow potential new customers. I basically threw $10 away because we couldn't eat any of it and the line was so long I didn't feel like waiting for a replacement or refund.

I've been going to Shoreline since I moved to the area in 2008. Crabs have never been a disappointment here and the hush puppies are to die for!! Their fried whiting dinner is good as well as the shrimp. My wife likes their crab cake too. If you are in the area, they are worth checking out.

Bad attitude and service. In addition to insult to injury, the crabmeat in my sandwich burned and crumbled!!!

  • C J.

This was my first time visiting Shoreline and I will never go there again. I ordered 1 lb of extra large shrimp and 1 dozen large males. I got a mixture of large, medium and extra large shrimp that were good. I don't appreciate paying for extra large and not getting them. At least half of the crabs were so light I though there would start floating in mid-air! Several of the crabs had a gray looking crab meat inside. Yuk! I paid $58 dollars and I was disappointed. I will never step foot in that place again.

My husband and I stopped into Shoreline after leaving an event in Annapolis. My husband is a diabetic and the before ordering he needed to use the bathroom. There is a handwritten sign of no public restroom, so we left and went to a service station nearby. I really didn't want to return as I believe and I think the health department mandates if you are a food establishment, restrooms should be available. We returned and while the fresh seafood was beautifully displayed, there was a very cold cashier. She was an ice cold person who had no customer service greeting, smile or interface whatsoever. We watched her cold interaction with each customer as we waited for our food. However, I must say an older gentleman came through who worked there and greeted us pleasantly. We agreed we would not be back to this establishment. The fried shrimp was too breaded and the crab cake was not what my husband expected. The hush puppies were not cooked too well. Not an enjoyable experience. So I will spend my money elsewhere.

  • Eric M.

They get three stars because the crabs were great but the fish quality could have been better. Whole Foods fish seems more fresh and higher of quality I don't know maybe it's the cleanliness of the place. The selection is top notch, soups are good but should be covered with a lid if you ask me

Shoreline Seafood is a family run business that offers quality and fresh seafood of all sorts. The place is pretty spacious and offer a variety of seafood dishes that they prepare for you including Dinners for Two that have a combination of different steamed seafood ranging from shrimp, mussels, oysters, lobsters and crab legs. Of course they offer a wide selection of fresh seafood for you to cook at home and will even pack it in ice for you if requested. They often have great deals on Blue Crabs such as buy X dozen and receive 1 dozen free. I do not recommend their Cream of Crab soup at all though (unless you'd like a good crab dip!) and their Maryland Crab Soup is a little too chunky with actual pieces of crab still in it's shell. My husband and I often call ahead to get one of the Dinners and they have always been ready in time and the steamed seafood is cleaner than most (I hate sandy mussels!) Just as an FYI, they are closed on Tuesdays and close relatively early. I strongly recommend visiting their web site to see their menu. They even ship out the delicious Maryland Blue Crabs out to the whole country so if you're missing home or an out-of-stater that's just curious about them, go to Shoreline's web site and you can enjoy them soon!

very very very good sea food, I don't get my seafood from grocery stores any more...I made carb cakes tonight and they where very good..

Shoreline is a very good seafood market and carry out. I've been here many times and decided to finally write a review after having one of their seafood dinners last night. As far as the seafood market section goes, they have one of the largest selections in the area. They offer just about every seafood imaginable on the east coast. Crabs, lobsters, fish, shellfish... it's all here. They will also prep, clean, or steam/cook the items for you if request it. From all of my experiences here, everything has always been very fresh. This is my go to place whenever I'm cooking up something for dinner that calls for fresh seafood. I'll gladly pass by all of the Giants and Safeways and come here when the menu at home calls for fresh seafood. I've bought many different types of fresh items to cook at home and everything has always been great. When we were there last night, we saw a bunch of soft shell crabs out for display and I regret not picking some up. I'll have to go back in the next couple days to get some. They get pretty busy here sometimes and can run out of some items every now and then. For example, last night they were out of mussels and salmon steaks. They did have salmon filets though, so we settled for that. So, you may want to call ahead if you are set on going there to pick up a particular item. They also sell seafood condiments and cooking accessories here along with various pies and bottled drinks. For the carryout section, they have tons of different items to order. I recommend just checking out the menu on their website instead of me trying to list everything here. NOTE: If you are at work and are about to view the website, be sure to have the volume on your speakers turned down or else be prepared to hear 'Under the Sea' blasting out of your computer. There are a number of different seafood combination dinners that are very good. The dinner that we ordered last night, for example, is called 'The Crabpot Lover'. It includes 12 steamed blue crabs, 1lb Dungeness crab clusters, 1lb snow crab clusters, and a quart of MD crab soup...all for a little less than $50. Everything we get from the carry out is always very good. They also have non seafood items like steaks, if you are in the mood. The only thing I don't really care for here is their cream of crab soup. VERY VERY thick and VERY VERY rich. Maybe some like it that way, not me though. This is a carry out only place, so there is no place for seating or all you can eat or anything. Give Shoreline a try for a big selection of fresh seafood and great seafood carry out.

So this is where I picked up salmon for last nights dinner. Its this odd looking building in the middle of Route. 3, which is good because you can get to it from either North or South bound Route 3. Last week we had the snow crab pieces, which is cheaper ($5.99 a lb. ) than the snow crab clusters. If you want to have crabs at home this is the place to go. Plus, they have has some really sweet corn this summer, and cheap to at 50 cents and ear. It really a take-away or carry out place no dining in. I don't like the cream of crab soup here, but it does have its fans. I like the spiced shrimp. And they will steam your seafood for you, which is great. My advice go early in the day, since lines can be long.
