Diabetics at Village Inn

Village Inn is a tough place for diabetics, and you must be extra cautious while ordering food at the Village Inn, especially if you're a diabetic. The food items low in sodium are high in sugar or cholesterol at Village Inn which makes it difficult for diabetics to choose the right food at the diner.

Foods to Avoid at Village Inn for Diabetics

You must also skip the shakes as well as other juices from the beverage menu. Almost all the dinner items on the menu are high in sodium except Grilled Tilapia and 6 oz. Top Sirloin & Toast. Recently, I was looking for a place, between Rockville and Gaithersburg to have a late breakfast with a friend. I read the reviews and decided to give it a try. It turned out to be one of the WORST dining experiences i've ever had and I have traveled the world. When we arrived we were seated by a server who was cordial. Quickly, our waitress came over and practically flung the menus on the table and came back to get the order before we could blink. She was clearly annoyed that we asked for a minute to decide. The food came promptly and was cooked according to request, so kudos to the cook. However, the waitress didn't respond to any request after that and was on her cell phone constantly ignoring us. She even shot us several side glances that made us very uncomfortable. She brought our check without saying a word and left. When we went to the counter to pay I gently inquired if the waitress was okay that she seemed troubled. I made a point to inquire with a tone of concern not one of complaint. The woman, who appeared to be the manager, responded is a curt manner, "you were taking too long and she had plans for the afternoon". I was shocked and remarked that it was our first time there and we were studying the menu and that she wasn't at all welcoming. I complimented the cook while she ran my credit card. She passed me the receipt and i asked how I could add a tip. She said, "I ran it that way because I figured since you had a complaint that you didn't plan to leave a tip". I said that I wasn't complaining but inquiring. I also told her that I always leave a tip, even is I do have a complaint, because I know that tips are how waitresses make their money and that I would never refuse to tip. She said, "never mind, you came in so late and kept her here past her time and she had plans." I am still stunned that anyone would treat a customer in such a manner! We were actually made to feel as if we had done something wrong! As for the food, it was prepared as requested but nothing remarkable. As for the home fried potatoes, they were below average. If you want a really good meal, friendly service and environment take a trip to Dempsy's of Ashton on the corner of Rt. 108 and 650. Great food and friendly, old-fashioned atmosphere. The breakfasts are fantastic and customers are always welcome, old and new!

The food is alright for the price. It is pretty cheap, brunch for my wife and I works out to ~$20. We've gone here a few times, but the service just isn't that great. We like to support local businesses like this rather than IHOP or Denny's, however the people working here just aren't very friendly and welcoming. The server (it is always the same lady when we go in) always seems pissed off and short with us. The coffee is not very good. I really like the scrapple, it doesn't taste like frozen patties they just throw on the grill (which is how it tastes everywhere else). Some one else mentioned a roach in there review. My wife is scared to death of them and is always on the look out, we've never seen them in the 5 or so times we've gone. The place is pretty clean.

Stopped in while staying in the area on vacation based solely on the five star recommendation here on Yelp.. but, I wasn't as overwhelmed as the previous reviewer. Village Green is your typical greasy spoon diner. They serve tasty and reasonably priced omelettes and our server was friendly, but the parking lot is cramped (at best) and the restaurant lacks any sort of ambience. Overall, great for a quick breakfast if you're in the area and tired of the chain restaurant atmosphere of IHOP, but not worth the drive.

The breakfast was just like mom used to make. And it came quickly, although that may have been in part because we visited when things were slow. But the best part was the waitress. Friendly and efficient. And just the type you think would be working in a place like this...a bit older, experienced, and friendly.

A general rule: if you go to a restaurant and there is more than one table that hasn't been bussed, leave. Although the restaurant wasn't very busy, there were several tables that hadn't been bussed. Rather than taking care of it, the waitress was busying herself behind the counter. I stayed because I love breakfast and am anxious to find a good place to get a home-style breakfast here in Maryland. Unfortunately, Village Green is not the place. I had heard that service can be slow at Village Green, so I waited until 1:00 pm on a Friday to go there. Although there were few customers, service was STILL slow. The waitress wasn't particularly welcoming, and she had an off-putting air of insincerity. When my omelet came, it was okay. The eggs were flat and lifeless. It was certainly not fluffy. The home fries had the dry, tough texture that comes from being cooked much earlier in the day. When I finished and left, some of the same tables had STILL not been bussed. I will not return.

This place is very good... as long as you understand what it is. This is a greasy spoon. They serve basic fare, and it is cheap. The breakfast here is very good. Well cooked hashbrowns (ask for onions on them) simple eggs, bacon, and toast. They have other typical offerings (omelettes, pancakes etc), but I find the best to be the special. On weekday mornings you can get 2 eggs, bacon or sausage, hashbrowns and toast for $4.25. It is plenty to fill the hungriest of morning people, it is very fast, you can be in and out in 15 min, and it tastes great. Know what to expect going in, and you will have a wonderful experience.

On Monday, 19 March 2012 wife & I elected to head toward Sam's Membership Warehouse in Gaithersburg, MD from Bethesda. We thought that while too late for me, regarding parking & crowds, to do a drive-by of Village Green. I try to avoid peek "feeding times" so as to also avoid crowds and parking issues. There are two ONLY parking spaces IFO their door and one was vacant; wow, oh boy, and the like! Very good food, excellent service; "Barbara" I think she was, and better that average food for any price. My wife was a bit taken aback by at least two drug "rehab candidates" and the guy sitting behind her had recently been "counseled" by Police. The waitress asked him about his black eye and facial damage and we heard that he had a confrontation with Police over a traffic-stop that yielded a DUI or CDS issue and was locked-up. He obviously lost that Police counseling session and had no problem is giving our waitress a detailed narrative of the event. Her interrogative skills were super; he said at age 22 (now) that he had priors in other states. So yes, IF I get parking, I WILL be back. Their food, service & really warm hospitably, is refreshing. The men's room was clean but reminded me of what my parent's bathroom might look like after 60 years (and I am not that old).

Still great. The best place in the area for two eggs and toast and you support a local business. What's not to love?

  • Dirk P.

Good solid small diner. Wait staff is attentive and while they get pretty busy they do keep the food coming. The Greek omelet is good and the chipped beef gravy is rich and fluffy. A great place to hear old timers and regulars talk in the morning.

Food is ok, service is a little slow. There was a roach walking around the table and wall while we were eating. Will not be coming back...

I'm a fan! I've only been here for breakfast..and no not always in the morning. They have an awesome menu. Serve you buttered toast with all of your breakfast meals. It's in a very quiet place near Old Town Gaithersburg. The food is delish and waitress are always very friendly. The serve breakfast all day round, but also serve regular food such as sandwiches, and other entrees. I always go for the breakfast and have never been disappointed!

Great portions and tasty breakfast at a decent price. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Service was quick and our coffee cups were kept full.

Eggs Benedict were great! Creamy hollandaise, fluffy poached eggs and savory Canadian bacon, as promised. Add some sautéed peppers and onion for some extra zing. It seems like Gaithersburg has a dearth of breakfast places. A potential opportunity? Anyway, I found this place on Yelp not too far away from my in-laws. As you step in, you enter a time warp and get taken back in time before there was LDL saturated fats and triglycerides. There's nothing posh about this place. As other reviewers have said, "it is what it is." Reasonable prices, delicious food that'll leave you satisfied. Parking is a real problem. We took our chances and parked at the laundromat down the road 20-30 feet. The staff was attentive and gave us great service. Overall, not a bad alternative to IHOP or Panera, minus the ambiance. But you're going for the food anyway, right?

Certainly not bad but this place is too sterile for me. The food is ok but doesn't blow you away. Will you leave hungry? Nope. But William William William ... best no frills breakfast? Pushaw.

Great greasy spoon diner. Staff have been there for years. The place clearly has regulars. No frill but great greasy breakfasts. Parking can be tricky but there seem to be the right number of spots for customers.

This is a diner, synonomous with greasy spoon. Know that going in and everything is going to be quite enjoyable. I give this a four star rating because the Village Green is what it is, and doesn't try to be something else. I eat here 2-3 mornings per week, and venture away from the breakfast special about once a week. The special is a steal: two eggs, meat, toast, and potatoes (although sub grits - more about them in a minute - for the potatoes). $4.25 can't be beat. The coffee is mid-grade and sufferable. And if you don't like the speed of refills, no one is offended if you get up and go to the coffee pot and get some for yourself. Other than the special, I love their omelettes w/ egg beater substituted. I love the Zorba (lamb and feta), as well as the ham and swiss. They brown the ham and dice it before tossing it in the mix. The waffles are great - crispy on the outside and fluffy inside, but I'd pass on the fruit toppings because they are the canned stuff that has it's own gloopy syrup...not worth the sugar calories to me. Lunch for me there is always a tasty meatball sub. They toast it and serve it with these thick and crispy steak fries. The fries are always hot because they cook each batch as they're ordered...that's no small draw for me! I've also eaten the burger (ok), the club (pretty good), and the turkey and dressing special when it's available (pretty good). Now for the grits. Disclaimer: I'm a Southerner from NC. Grits are supposed to have red-eye gravy or be half-butter/half-grits. Neither are healthy options but they taste oh so good that way. The thing is, good grits are nearly impossible to find in this part of the world. I know the Mason-Dixon line is still to the north of me, but the "Grit-Line" is definitely to the South, somewhere about Richmond, VA. The grits at this diner are really blah, so I have to add lots of salt, pepper, and butter. But I crave grits, so I make this adaptation in order to live peaceably in the Land of Mary. If you want fancy atmosphere and waitresses who can discuss politics and economics, go somewhere else. This is a blue-collar joint and a community gathering spot for regulars. Lindsey and Barbara are hard working, and admittedly not always the friendliest. But I go there to have morning work meetings, or to work on my laptop (free wireless), not chat up the waitresses. I find them to be consistent, dependable, and always there. As a regular, I value that.

Food was good, but the service really sucked. The waitress was miserable. She seemed to be acting a little nicer to the 'locals', but she was absolutely miserable to us. Never smiled once, seemed bothered to have to take care of us. Too bad. Would have been a 4 or 5 star if she was just a little pleasant. Maybe she was having a bad day, but i won't be going back to find out.

This place is a very classic diner. The decorations look like something you would see in a 1970's country diner, and the food tastes home-made. Be aware this is not a fast food joint; they take the necessary time to cook the food. I usually get the burger and fries, and the burger is thick and extremely juicy. It's a nice change from the dried meat that Wendy's and Burger King usually uses. I haven't had the breakfast dishes, but just looking at it makes my mouth water.

Good for what it is. Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed (guess that applies to lots of things in life). Bullets: Good: - Fast Service - Reasonable Prices - Generous portions - No BS, fake smiles or greetings (which I personally like. I'd rather have servers be courteous and real rather than sugar-coated friendly. A job is just a job.) - lots of "local regulars", which I like. Shows that on some level, they're doing things right. I'm not part of that group, which is okay with me. - delicious eggs and omelette fillings were well cooked / seasoned. Good balance of eggs to filling. Bad: - tastes like they use margarine rather than butter. I don't like margarine. - pancakes / toast were cold by the time they came out (felt like they were done first and waiting for my omelette to be finished before all were plated and brought out) - the food is exactly what you'd expect...don't know why I was hoping I'd be pleasantly surprised by the hashbrowns, like they'd have some special flavor or ingredient which would blow me away. But they didn't: plain fried potatoes without onions. - pancakes kind of chewy; I don't think pancakes should be chewy. I wouldn't go out of my way for this breakfast....but I don't regret going there. I'd return one day, sure.

First of all... if you're not a fan of diners, why did you come here? Don't give this place a bad review because you don't like diners in general. It's unfair. Okay, now for my opinion on Village Green. I was raised in the midwest, so I have an affinity for 'greasy spoon' diners, so I was extremely excited to try Village Green. My husband and I just moved to Gaithersburg, and I saw this was close to us, so when my mom and stepdad came to visit, it gave us the excuse to eat here. It was SO good that we came back the next day for breakfast, as well. The parking here is not very good. Even when the restaurant is somewhat empty, it's hard to get a spot. On the first visit, we showed up around 10:30 AM on Sunday and nabbed the last parking spot. The second visit wasn't a problem, as we came around the same time on Monday morning. The restaurant itself is older, so yes, it's a little dingy in some spots... because it's old. That's usually a pretty good sign in my opinion. The booths are a little small for tall people, but we squeezed :) Our waitress (I think it was Barbara... she was blonde and awesome - she's been working here for years) took our orders, and before we knew it the food was on the table. My husband had a western omelet, my mom had 2 eggs, toast and sausage, my stepdad had a ham & cheese omelet and I had the Zorba omelet (feta and gyro). We all got the home fries and coffee. Side note: the coffee is fabulous. Perfect. If you are a fan of gyro and feta, I highly recommend the Zorba. It was AWESOME. When we came back the next day, our waitress remembered our drink order (impressive) and had a little more time to chat with us. On the second visit, my husband got an omelet again, as did my stepdad. My mom got the Zorba (and loved it) and I had the Belgian waffle with strawberries and whipped cream - I didn't even need syrup. It was moist and fluffly... so delicious. During our first visit, because the place was so busy, it took a while to get cashed out, but it was no biggie. The second time was easy-peasy. Prices are extremely reasonable for the DC area. I wish I could go every day. I love it. I can't wait to go back and try some more of the menu!

It's a classic breakfast place with a very small front. We almost missed the parking entrance to the back parking lot. The egg Benedict was very good.

I absolutely love this place, and would make it a staple on my weekend plans if I didn't have other obligations. Great diner-style menu and breakfast served anytime. You'll find lots of regulars there and always new people too. Lindsay and Barb have been serving for years and never fail. The breakfast is always cooked just right (I get bacon extra crispy just like I request). Parking can be a challenge, as there are only a handful of spaces and the diner shares them with a store next door. Prepare to have to make tight turns in the back and potentially go to an alternate street parking or lot. Then again, I've gone at 10 on a Saturday and have been one of 3 cars in the back.

  • Donny W.

Nice and simple. I stop for breakfast on occasion, usually coffee and the $3 eggs and toast. The hostess/waitress(/owner?) is friendly and chats up the regulars. I agree with a previous reviewer that this is not a "go out of your way" place, but it's a gem if it's along your commute or nearby.

This place is what a ma&pops place should be, homie. The staffs are welcoming and friendly and the food is delicious. If it's your first time here, I recommend getting the Belgium Waffle with whip cream and fruit!

Village Green or as I've nicknamed it "The Village"...is a hide away spot that I would have never found out about if it wasn't for IHOP being packed one Sunday morning. The first time I went, you enter in and seat yourself. It has a very old school diner feel about it, very home like and definitely a mom & pop spot. I scanned the menu for waffles and noticed the prices which are affordable. I didn't like the syrup, it was kind of watery or as if it had been in the squeeze bottle for a while. The waffles and food presentation was good, at the end of the day that's all that matters. I came back a second time for the waffles with fruit/whip cream topping. I give it 3 stars because the customer service could improve but overall it's definitely a good foodie find.

First time here, so far so good. The hostess wasn't as friendly as i expected but she was nice enough for a good customer service. i ordered the Weekly Special that is $4.95 for two eggs, your choice of meat, toast and potatoes! it was delicious! i got over easy eggs and it came out perfect. i like that they give you four slices of bread, two with butter and two plain for jelly! it's a small hole in the wall place but it's clean, decor is very nostalgia. great price food though! i would recommend it.

Stopped in here while looking for a new place for breakfast. The food was ok, nothing really memorable. I ordered the Belgian waffle with fruit topping (which is fresh strawberries) but the menu doesn't say which kind of fruit topping it is served with. The waffle was fluffy and sweet, but did not hold up to the fruit and whipped cream that was on top, which did cause my waffle to become a soggy and chewy. My husband got the eggs Benedict and home fries, which looked amazing and he said was delicious. There isn't a kids menu here, so my son got 2 pancakes with bacon which was a little too much for a 9 yr old. Unless your child is a big eater, order 1...they are huge! The side of bacon could have been crispier, but they did give him 4 pieces. The server wasn't overly talkative but did come by a few times to check on us. Over all this place was decent with reasonable prices, exactly what was expected. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back, but if I was in the area I'd return.

I have driven past this place once or twice a day since moving into the area. Every time I look over I see dust and fake plants FROM THE STREET and keep driving. Well ....... I stopped in for breakfast and was not impressed. So, I have been to a couple of diners and a couple of greasy spoons, and this one is not a true "east coast" diner. Being a greasy spoon is more than just providing certain foods and not mopping the floors regularly. This place has the latter down, but the food was just OK. Bottom line - I would not recommend this place to friends or enemies, and I am not returning.

Village Green is a reliable, go-to local breakfast spot in Gaithersburg. My wife and I have stopped in to eat on a couple occasions, both were weekdays. The parking lot is located in the back and it's really tight. I can't imagine how tough it is to get a spot on a crowded morning. As for the food, VG makes excellent pancakes and waffles...you can't go wrong with either. While not as memorable, their eggs, bacon and coffee were also pretty good. You'll leave happy because of their prices...including tip, our meal came in around $20. I'm no fortune teller, but I foresee many many visits to Village Green in my future.

Oh please people, stop drinking the Kool-Aid, or whatever you're on these days. This place truly, truly is bad. Even for a greasy spoon this place doesn't even rank close to 1000 little places elsewhere. When I walked in I just set myself at a booth in a very empty place, admittedly on Columbus Day, but I was surprised that there were not a few more regulars. As such all I wanted was some pancakes eggs and some bacon or sausage links. What I got instead was lackluster pancakes eggs that have been cooked in oil that dated back to the Jurassic, and some very questionable meet like substance that had obviously been frozen refrozen several times over. The one thing I can complement them on, deserving of one star, is the gal refilled my coffee cup a couple of times.

***Really a 1.1, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt*** Myself, my wife, and my BIL came to Village Green on Saturday morning on the recommendation of a friend. I love breakfast diners. For me there is no finer time to eat out than for breakfast. As such, it really doesn't take much to get me giddy about anything egg-related. However, despite my love affair with even the most basic of breakfasts Village Green managed to not only frustrate me, but make me question whether I had somehow deeply offended the server. The dining room had maybe 10% capacity filled, and we were led to the back by a less-than-talkative waitress. After having our menus deposited (read: not given to us) on the table the waitress sulked off and returned less than am minute later and demanded our order. We ordered three coffees and asked to hold off on the order until we had our coffee. This clearly broke some untold rule and she huffed off. I remained doe eyed because, as I said, I love breakfast places. When she came back we asked a few questions about the menu, with each question met with an indifferent "I don't know." Eventually she interrupted us and asked if we were going to order or not. Clearly annoyed she walked away. Knowing that there were many other options in the area we decided to leave. I walked up to the register and waited. And waited. And waited. Despite there being three employees literally looking at me I could not get service! I ended up just leaving Mr. Lincoln to his fate and walked out deflated, depressed, and hungry. In fact, I have only walked out of two restaurants in my life. This was the first.

We tried this place out since we were looking for some breakfast/diner food. The parking situation here is a bit difficult. They have a parking lot in the back but it's extremely small. Not sure how people deal with that on a busy day. I ordered the spinach provolone omelette that came with toast and home fries. It was good but nothing I'd be dying to go back for. The staff are not really welcoming but they're not rude. They would come by and check on you every so often. I expect diner food to be fairly cheap but the two of us spend well over $20 for two breakfast entrees and one apple juice. Don't think we'll be going back.

I visit Village Green about once a week for lunch. They know who I am, know my order, and it's always tasty. Sometimes I order the Daily Special such as Grilled Cheese & Chilli, or their Cheeseburger & french fries (served on a real bun, unlike McDonald's buns which never mold), or breakfast, or the Triple-Decker Sandwiches. The employees are not terribly friendly unless you're a regular. It's a relatively small diner and there's a steady stream of senior citizens who hang out there weekday mornings. You get a look when you're not a regular, just like in neighborhood bars in small towns where everyone at the bar knows each other. Village Green is a great alternative to paying $8 to Chipotle for lunch. The food is homemade, fresh, and cheaper than an $8 burrito. I highly recommend the Turkey Triple-Decker sandwich with fries. VG's french fries are thick steak fries and sometimes they sprinkle a bit of Old Bay on them. Very tasty.

One of our favorite Gaithersburg establishments that is known primarily by locals. Great food! Its vintage decor can be interpreted as "old or dirty". Granted they invest in the food quality. If you want fancy- go to a pricey restaurant. Good food, reasonable prices, and home town feel. This is the place.

Difficult parking situation worth the great food and courteous service! Ate there with my 2 small kids and husband at 11am on a Saturday morning and seated right away. The server was incredibly sweet and patient and attentive. All staff makes the atmosphere family like and I couldn't believe how fast our breakfast came. The food was American home cooking comfort food and we barely left any on our plates. I will definitely be back here. Recommend this place to anyone looking for a good and fair priced meal with good portions.

I have been reading about this place for a while in my quest for a great breakfast spot in the Gaithersburg area. I finally stopped in and am glad I did. This is diner done very well. The place has a classic old-school diner feel to it. As mentioned by many other Yelpers, there are a lot of regulars who all seem to know each other. The nice woman behind the counter was friendly and helpful. After stopping in - I can understand why people become regulars. I had eggs (cooked to perfection), sausage patties, home fries (which live up to the hype) and toast. It's also dirt cheap which is a bonus. I don't know that I will ever get to 'regular' status here but I will definitely be back.

I was really torn between 2 and 3 stars, but the place seemed so "homey", I went with the 3. If heard a lot of people eating here for breakfast, so figured I should finally give it a try. It's like a mini-diner inside, with basic seating and decor from a couple decades ago. The menu is typical diner fare, nothing fancy. I ordered eggs, scrapple, & toast, with a side of grits. Side note: Scrapple is such a guilty pleasure of mine, which is found in very few places in the DC area, so when I see it, I gotta have it, even though I'm pretty sure it's on the top 10 worst for you foods in the world. I had a bite of the toast and it was kinda stale and chewy, but I'm not a toast person anyway. The eggs and scrapple were good enough, but the grits were absolutely disgusting. They had a weird gritty- jelly consistency (definitely instant, made with water( with absolutely zero flavor. I tried adding a little butter, salt, & pepper, and still couldn't eat it. My bf got eggs, ham, and a waffle and said it was decent. The good news was, the coffee was really good and our waitress was very friendly. I liked how she knew every single person who walked through the door. There were a lot of carryout orders and a few senior citizens just sitting in there drinking coffee. Cute place, cheap grub, but I don't think I'll be returning.

Eggs Benedict from Heaven! I came here on an off day but they only serve them on weekends and holidays so I came back and it was everything and more! And the blonde lady is as sweet and kind as everyone else has posted including helping an old man out of the booth, down the back hall, and topped it off with a kiss on the cheek to ensure his day would be special!

Parking can be tough but overall a great option for breakfast in Gaithersburg. Local diner feel...you get a good amount of food for the price. Service isn't ultra friendly but it doesn't bother me much. My boyfriend and I do back regularly.

I've lived in Gaithersburg forever but I always drove past this restaurant without thinking or knowing about it. When I joined yelp I saw some reviews for it and decided to try it... Then I forgot about it again until I needed a new tire at Mr Tire next door. So my husband and I went next door at ten am on Sunday feeling pretty depressed about the stupid nail in our tire. But this place cheered us up so much. The inside is simple and nothing spectacular. Service is fine. People were friendly but left us alone mostly which I like. it was the good though that really shined! My mouth is just watering writing this review!! The eggs were fluffy and the pancakes were fluffier. The hubby got a tasty omelet and I got a pancake platter. The sausages were so tasty and the home fries were the best thing there. It was all very home-style and simple but out of this world delicious. Don't go expecting gourmet but do go if you like a tasty home-cooked kinda meal! Oh and it is so cheap and they serve you very quickly.

The best thing about this place is prices. It's a neighborhood greasy spoon, not somewhere I'm likely to come again mostly because of it's distance from where I actually live. It's challenging to park, there's a teeny lot in the back and it's a sharp turn that comes up on you quickly if you don't know where you're going. Also, both directions have to fit down an alley that's only one car wide if cars are parked. The food, fine. Not bad, not fancy. I had a waffle. It came with cold butter and cold syrup. My guest had a basic eggs/meat/toast configuration. The toast was "Still just bread on one side" according to him. The servers are nice ladies. You can tell they are used to the same people coming in regularly. Word to the wise: while it is still cold out, seat yourself away from the door. Fine for walking-distance locals.

I'll break it down... Seems clean even though it's in an old part of Gaithersburg. The location and exterior are unassuming, so it's easy to pass by for 11+ yrs. parking in back mostly. You get a mix of old timers, regulars, etc. it seems alive compared to other diners in the vicinity. Staff is friendly, but not in your face which is good. I've only eaten breakfast here and pancakes, eggs, toast are just fine and arrive as one would expect. The pancakes are thick and fluffy. If you get full easily 1-2 are plenty. The home fries are my favorite of any diner I've been to around here. Seems like others love them too. It's bright enough in here where you don't fall asleep yet not too bright where you are blinded. This is good for non-morning people.

This morning, after being in and around Gaithersburg for 30 years, I finally stopped at Village Green. I've seen it going up and down Frederick Ave. and never knew what it was. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and it wasn't the best I've ever had and it wasn't the worst. I guess I should have known something was up when I was asked if I wanted the eggs done medium. Hmm. Should there ever be a choice? I asked the waitress to describe medium and the said soft yolks. OK, I thought. I'll try them. She also asked if I wanted onions with my home fries and I said yes. Well, when I got the Eggs Benedict and home fries, the eggs looked alright, except I could tell the Hollandaise Sauce had been sitting on the eggs because it was slightly congealed. To me, that was no big deal because I've had Eggs Benedict before where it congeals just after it's applied to the eggs. Any anyway the eggs were warm, as were the bacon and English Muffin. The first egg I got was a little more done than I think of as a poached egg. The yolk wasn't runny and it wasn't hard. It was, as the waitress indicated, medium. The second egg was exactly as I expected. My biggest disappointment was the home fries. There was no seasoning in them. Adding salt and pepper at the my table didn't help. Plus, the onions weren't cooked with the home fries. They were fried, like you'd get on a hot sub, separately and then just tossed on top of the home fries. I didn't spend too much so I'm not wholly disappointed but I love my potatoes and those were such a let down.

This was very small little place. Parking was very small and it's in a street location. The food was okay and good for the price. You could tell there were a lot regulars so felt a little at home. The waiter very friendly. The bacon was done really good

I had read so many great Yelp reviews about this place that I had to find it. It's in a small lonely patch of stores right before the Old Country Buffet and IHOP in Gaithersburg. I have driven past it a billion and a half times and not once noticed the green sign and awning. We walk in, and immediately, I spied the corned beef hash omelets. Now, before you judge, you need to understand something: growing up, we never had American breakfast foods...except for when we went on vacation. Then, my dad would find every greasy spoon diner within driving distance of our hotel to order corned beef hash. To this day, when I hear "corned beef hash", I immediately think I'm on vacation. YET - my ever-dieting fat butt demands that I try to eat semi-healthy (so I can splurge my calories on KBBQ, booze, and Yelp events), so I try to avoid fatty yummies like corned beef hash like the plague. However, omelets are healthy right? Ergo - the fattiness of the hash is negated by the semi-healthiness of an omelet...right? OH MY GOD it was so good. They fried up the hash first, so that it was nice and crispy, before sandwiching it between a fluffy layer of egg. I'm not 100% sure, but I think I didn't even use a fork - my face was just buried in my plate as I scarfed it up like a pig in a troth. Having read the other Yelp reviews for this place, I definitely agree that when ordering the home-fries, definitely ask for it with onions...it adds that extra bit of flavor that makes their home-fries arguably one of the best home-fries I've had in this area. The potatoes were soft, with a nice crisp to it where it was deliciously browned in the skillet. My only two complaints about this place is that 1) the parking sucks serious butt. Yes, there is parking around back of the building - but those spaces fill up fast. And 2) the servers were more interested in chattering with the regulars then pouring us more coffee. Or perhaps they were just horrified by the way I inhaled my corned beef hash omelets. Regardless, this place is definitely going on my list of places to hit up for brekkie...I just can't do it too often, or I may not be able to waddle out the door...

Had breakfast at the Village Green the other morning and was very disappointed. French toast fried in some sort of nasty grease and had an egg shell in it. Waitress not very friendly and a pretty shabby looking place. Would not recommend but it was very cheap.

Village Green is located right next to an IHOP... competition probably sucks quite a bit, but they are still busy as can be. We parked in the shopping center where the IHOP is located, and walked over to Village Green (that's probably not okay... but we did it anyway). I got the Eggs Benedict for about $10, and boyfriend got waffles, plus other stuff. I was originally put off by the price of my meal (only offered on weekends), but the portion was pretty decent. I enjoyed the gooeyness of my poached eggs, and everything else that came with it. Boyfriend was also happy with what he had, though I think I got the better deal. ;) The restaurant was fairly crowded on a Sunday morning, but we did not have to wait.

After we dropped my girlfriend's car off at the dealership for some repairs on Saturday we were driving around in my car trying to think of ways to kill time while they ran it through the paces. We were on our way to Sam's Club when we decided we were both hungry. Upon reading some Yelp! reviews we decided this would be a good place to stop in for a late breakfast/early lunch. The restaurant is very small and it's super easy to miss the turn into the parking lot located in the back. In fact, the driveway was so narrow because of cars that were parked there that we decided to park in a strip mall parking lot around the corner. Don't think it's technically legal but you got to do what you got to do. We sat at a nice (but slightly slanted) table by the window. The waitress was very friendly and seemed to be very on top of things. We both went for breakfast food. I got a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich on a croissant with a side of hash brown. My girlfriend got poached eggs that came with a side of hash browns (she opted for the onions in her hash browns which turned out to be a big mistake). The onions in the hash browns turned out to be about half of the side and were very large sauteed onions. While I like sauteed onions in moderation it was just a little excessive. She also found that one of her poached eggs was overcooked. Other than that I think we both enjoyed the meal. The food was pretty inexpensive. I think my meal was like $3 for the sandwich and and extra $2 for the hash browns. Definitely worth the price. I could see myself being a regular if I lived anywhere close to it but it's not worth the drive up from Bethesda. So if you're in the area and in the mood for breakfast you should definitely go in but I wouldn't make any special trips.

The poor waitress seems to be running a one man show, taking orders, bussing tables, checking out, running back into the kitchen. Yall need to hire some help! Service was slow but that's because she was so overworked so I couldn't be too angry. I got the weekday special. Eggs and toast were decent. Bacon was dry and flavorless. Homefries bland. Eh. For the price it served its purpose of getting food in my tummy but it would not be my first choice.
