I've been to Pasha Lounge a few times and wasn't quite sure what to expect the first time I went there. Having never had Moroccan food before, I was a little skeptical, however that went away as soon as I walked through the front door. The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy. A small, dimly lit room with tables close to each other with couch-like seating and well cushioned chairs made me forget that I was in the Kentlands, it's a very cosy place. As soon as we got there, the owner (yes, the owner), sat us at a table of our selecting and introduced us to our waitress, his daughter. Both were very pleasant and easy to talk to. After ordering our drinks (just order their regular tea, it's terrific), the waitress brought out bread and seasoned olives. They were fantastic. Then the fun began. Around the same time that our appetizers came out, a belly dancer began preforming in the open section of the floor. This added a great deal of entertainment and she was very interactive with the customers. It was terrific to have something that different to pay attention to while waiting for food. The food itself was terrific. I ordered the Stewed chicken with Lemon and Olives and my dad ordered the Chicken Kabobs. Both were fantastic and I would order either again in a heartbeat. Each dish is very well seasoned, and tasted as delicious as they smell. Pasha alone has led me to love Moroccan food. For anyone who is nervous about trying something new, go to Pasha, it's good, comfortable, and totally different.

Lesson learned during this dinner: I prefer not to watch a belly dancer while eating. It was 5:30pm on a Friday. I'd spent the afternoon at my work picnic, then bopping around at some stores. A friend and I had plans to meet at the Kentlands. I'd done my research, and we decided to go to Pasha Lounge. We were the only customers when we arrived, and the entire 2,5 hrs we were there, the place never got super busy, which is completely okay with me. Our waitress was very nice, but maybe a little too impatient. My friend and I just wanted to catch up, and were in no hurry. We started with the hummus appetizer, which was good (and I often don't even like hummus) and a rather generous portion, although I would have liked a few more cucumber slices. For entrees we had the chicken bastilla, which is different than anything you've ever eaten -and- very good, and the chicken with almonds and raisins, which I didn't think was that fabulous. (I couldn't help notice that the guy at the table across from ours had the kabob, which was an enormous portion...and he practically licked his plate.) We also had wine with dinner - my friend chose one of the Morrocan ones, and was very pleased. We finished with the baklava, which contained 3 pieces and was delicious. The lowlight was the belly dancer, who began dancing at 8. I really don't need anyone shaking their boobs and hair next to my table while I'm eating. Other than that, Pasha Lounge is a solid choice in the Kentlands. And this was stop #11 on my Summer Resolution Tour.

Aweful! This is not authentic Moroccan cuisine; at best it's a nice attempt of Arabic food and still bad .- it's over priced and the service is awful we witnessed the owner fooling around in front of the customers with the waitress and the good was not cooked properly or the portion size adequate for a party of two for the price - I'd not advise anyone to go here we had the royal feast and the couscous wasn't properly prepared , the hummus was not make accurate and the bastilla was not made well... All I can say is buyer beware!

Delicious food. The Bastille Chicken is absolutely worth running five extra miles. You can order kabobs and rice anywhere else. Find me another Bastille Chicken dish!! We had the place to ourselves... which was nice, as we were celebrating a birthday. I only hope the slow mid-week crowd does not hurt this business. The food and service are worth keeping over most of those chain restaurants filled with customers til late hours mid week. Change it up people, and give this place a try!! You don't know what you're missing!!

I absolutely love this place. I stumbled on it a few weeks ago after a night at the movies. My friend and I ventured in around 10pm and ordered a chicken bastilla and some hummus with lamb. Oh my goodness. The bastilla was fantastic and the owner came over and taught us step by step how to make it. I thought the hummus would have small pieces of lamb, but they were large succulent pieces. So, I came back the next day for lunch since I loved it so much. This time I got the lamb with raisins and almonds and my friend got the lamb with coucous and vegetables. Both were amazing! Best lamb ever! The owner came over to chat and I assured him I would help spread the word, so here I am on yelp supporting the cause:)

I wanted to love Pasha, because I love Moroccan, and I was so excited to find a Moroccan joint so close to me, but I just can't. Perhaps I went on a bad day, but I was so underwhelmed, and there are so many other choices to dine, that I just can't bring myself to come back anytime soon. Unexpectedly, all of our plans were cancelled on a brisk late-fall Sunday afternoon. We head over to the Kentlands for some errands, and while there, feeling hungry, we decide to try Pasha Lounge. It looked pretty, and as I mentioned, we love Moroccan! Facing the Five Guys, Pasha is lovely little restaurant with interesting tilework and beautiful hanging lanterns. The benches that lined the walls were a little uncomfortable but not so much that it kept us from staying there. As this was around 5, it was still early for the dinner rush, but not so early that there was not a full staff around. We sat down, recieved our menus from the hostess. Our waitress stopped by our table to ask if we would like anything to drink (we ordered diet coke and water) and proceeded to wait. And wait. And wait. And wait. Several times we could see our waitress hanging out by the doorway to the kitchen, but she always carefully positioned herself so that she wouldn't ever accidentally make eye contact with us. There was only one other table inside the restaurant, and outside, there were two other tables. All were waited on by different wait-staff, and all seem to be getting better service then we were. Finally, a different server came by to bring us our drinks and some bread. The bread was delicious and wonderful. We inhaled it in a minute flat. At this point, our waitress wanders over to us to take our order. We order the chicken bastille, and one of the lamb dishes...and asked for more bread and a refill on our water We probably should have walked out at this point, as it took nearly 15 minutes before we got a refill on our water, and I don't believe we ever did get more bread. Nearly 40 minutes after we sat down, we finally receive our entree - and again, not from our waitress - a different server brought it to us. The bastille chicken was indeed delicious. Baked in flakey phillo dough, the chicken was tender and moist. The seasonings were rich and fragerant. I felt that the powdered sugar was a little too much (it made the dish too sweet for me), but I liked how the sweetness combined with the spices. My lamb dish was also delicious, however I felt that the lamb was a little tough. I would have liked to see the lamb either cooked a little longer (so that it would be falling apart tender), or perhaps a different cut of lamb - but the spices and the flavorings were spot on! I probably would have enjoyed my meal more, if we ever got our refill on our waters. The sweetness of the bastille chicken, and the spices from the lamb made me incredibly thirsty. I kept trying to catch the attention of our server, but she would either look right past us (which is rather odd, since we were sitting against a wall and I was waving my arms like I was trying to land a 747), or she would be so busy flirting with the bartender that she ignored us the entire time. It was finally another server (or it could have been a busboy), that stopped by our table to get us more water, and brought us our check. While I don't deny that the food was quite tasty, and the decor was very lovely, the terrible service will prevent me from coming back. Although I see that there are other reviews for Pasha where the service is praised, we had such terrible service that this says to me that Pasha may have a problem with consistancy. I know that I may seem harsh to blame an establishment for one bad server, it is my philosphy that a well run establishment would spot these issues immediately, and that it is upon the management team to ensure that each patron gets the same experience. As a sign of how bad the service was - my husband, who is a 20% tipper even when the wait-staff is surly - actually left a 10% tip and felt that it was generous.

Fantastic! I just love great service and this is the place to get it. The food was delicious. I've never had better hummus and the bastille chicken was so so good. We enjoyed the ambiance and who doesn't love sitting on a comfy couch while enjoying great food? I'm so happy this is within walking distance from my house. We'll be back for sure. Support your local family-owned businesses! Tip for non-profits trying to do a fundraiser: We had a little chat with the owner, who explained how he participates in fundraising and it seems he is very generous in his contributions. I would say it's worth talking to him if you're looking to raise some funds. Oh, did I mention the hummus? Yes, I guess I did, but it's worth mentioning again. It was super fresh and I can't wait to have it again.

On 2nd thought... My 2nd visit here was so not even in the same league as my first. But what really pushed me over the edge was the owner (I think? Seemed like it?) being extremely rude to us. He acted all nice, but with that fake condescending attitude. Let me explain.... The restaurant was totally empty, and with the high ceilings and no music even on, it felt cavernous and awkward. And I'm not even a fan of ambient music! The bread that I loved so much the first time was never served this time. The mint tea that came with the lunch special was delicious but a refill was never offered - seems kinda cheap. An easy, inexpensive way to keep your customers happy, and you skimp on it? I don't understand. More importantly - the lunch special says it comes with "soup, salad, and mint tea / soda." I asked the server about the soups and salad, and order the veggie special. We only ever received soup. When I asked about it, they said it means soup OR salad. Which is clearly NOT what the menu said, and the owner refused to apologize for it, honor what the menu said, or even agree that the text should be updated to read correctly. In fact what he said to me was "Well everyone who comes here knows what it means." Ummmmm... no one at our table knew. And it doesn't really look like that many people come there (sadly, as the food is tasty). Left a seriously bad taste in my mouth. On top of that the veggie special is a huge plate of rice and couscous, with a small amount of veggies in the middle. My friend's chicken special looked beautiful, with a more appropriate amount of couscous to chicken/veggie ratio, instead of my plate full of grains and not so much full of the actual dish. I was excited to go back but this was a really sad experience.

This place is a wonderful family owned and run restaurant in Kentlands. The owner served us and gave excellent recommendations for dishes to try. Everything we tried here was very good. The Chicken Bastilla is a unique dish that I haven't seen anywhere else - phyllo dough stuffed with delicious combination of meat, vegetables and seasonings topped with cinnamon. The lamb with raisins and almonds is also top notch. Everything is made by hand by the mother of the family that runs the restaurant. The owner even offered to show us the kitchen to see how clean it is. I took him up on the offer, and I have to say that everything was well organized and clean. The chick peas were in the process of being made into hummus and fresh vegetables were evident in the storeroom.

Perfect place for dinner after the movies. Shared the Royal Kabb kabobs meal with extra salad perfect. Also live music and belly dancing at 8 on Fridays and Saturdays. We'll definitely go back again with friends and the kids. Fun night out.

Very friendly proprietors and staff, delicious food, authentic decor (ask to be seated on the banquette wall), and live entertainment (music and a belly dancer) made for a very enjoyable evening. This restaurant location has been occupied by a few different owners over the past 15 or so years - all of which have served Mediterranean food - but the latest owners seem to have it right. Grab some friends and go enjoy a very good and fun meal!

My husband & I were looking for a different experience, and we love Mediterranean food. We read all the great reviews and decided to drive from Frederick Cty. and give it a try last night. At 8:30 we had no problem getting seated right away. I love the comfy, cushy pillow seating all along the walls in the dining area, the stenciling on the walls, and the varied & beautiful chandeliers. Despite the fact that it wasn't too busy and most other diners were finishing their meals, service was somewhat slow. The hummus platter- fresh quartered pitas, cucumbers, green olives, and olive oil drizzled on top with a sprinkling of paprika, was very good and not too garlicky at all. We both ordered the Chicken Kab'b. It came with two large skewers of grilled chicken, green peppers and onions, & a generous portion of jasmine rice. An unexpected treat was the corn, cucumber, lettuce, olive, tomato & onion salad with a slightly sweet creamy dressing. The meal was very good, well prepared, and seasoned nicely. We have plenty leftover. The only disappointment (besides the belly dancer being out sick), was the house sauce (tziki). It was thick, almost whipped, which I liked, but my husband didn't, and was extremely garlicky -- one dab burned the inside of our mouths. We finished off with the baklava which was obviously freshly homemade, with crushed almonds and honey in soft & flaky phyllo. That and the fresh mint tea was YUM! We will be back to try other dishes and hopefully see the belly dancer!

Very cute atmosphere. Services was excellent. I believe the owner came out and was very friendly. This may have been because it was a Wednesday night and very slow. The food was good. Not the best Moroccan food I've ever had, but good. I had the chicken bastilla....and the chicken couscous....Overall good food and good atmosphere.

I finally visited Pasha Lounge on Tuesday night last week, after lots of hype from a friend who is a frequent customer. I have never been previously, but the new manager seems to be working really hard to change the bad rep the last manager brought to the restaurant. He was extremely friendly and accommodating during our visit. Although this is a Moroccan place, my friend swears by their kabobs, so we ordered the chicken kabobs and the kefta (ground beef kabob). Both were excellent, although I think the Chicken was a little dry. I loved the kefta, it was well seasoned and fairly juicy. The accompanying garlic sauce was an excellent touch for both the meat, and the rice (which i thought was a little bland). For a Tuesday night, there were several people there, but the service was good, considering the lonely waitress bussing all the tables. Will definitely return!

I'll echo what the other reviewers said. We just got back and the place is fantastic. Ample portions and everything was authentic and tasty. The eggplant and hummus appetizers were quite creative. Loved the couscous dishes. They put their own spin on classical Moroccan cuisine. Food seemed very healthy too. The waitress was from Chile, so it's a real multicultural experience. Not cheap but worth what you pay for. Would recommend in a heartbeat.

A little nook tucked in kentlands across from the movie theatre. Went on a Friday night and was greeted by a bellyfancing performance. The place was very intimate, perfect for date night. We ordered a bottle of rouge which complemented our meal as we enjoyed the show. The Moroccan salad was great. The cucumber and tomatoes in the olive oil white wine vinegar dressing was cool and perfect for a warm night. We had the chicken Bastille. It was the first time I've had it and it was yummy. Warm chicken stewed in spices inside an almost phyllo-like pastry topped with powder sugar and nutmeg (or was it cinnamon?). But it was good. I would definitely go back again. The atmosphere was good and the staff was friendly (unless our waitress was hitting on my boyfriend....).

Morrocan in a strip mall? Don't let the locaiton fool you, the decor is outstanding. Getting seated by the owner, waited on by the owner, and chatted up with the owner, you'll be made to feel like family. Great food, a little pricey, but well worth it. You'll leave Pasha's feeling like a million dirhams (is that a lot?)

Went there today for Mother's day dinner. Was so disappointed. Looks like the restaurant is under new management. The last time we were there it was so much better. Today every item was taste less. Even the salad was thrown on the plate with chunky pieces without any proper dressing. The desserts were horrible and miniscule. and this meal was 23.00 /person... what a rip off. Its not any where near Moroccan food. Never again!!!

I went in with a cold, hoping to find something spicy for lunch in order to clear my head. Fortunately, this place had a spicy chicken dish. Between the harissa sauce on the chicken, and the soup appetizer (harira), I feel much better.

Yum! The food was great. I shared a lamb couscous and chicken tagine (stew). It was delicious, even compared to the food I had when I went to Morocco. The owner is really nice too. If I could change one thing it would be the price, so I could eat there more often. Shokran bezzaf for a great meal!

I love this place! A recent discovery - owner Ahmed is warm and makes you feel like you're a celeb. Food is great; lamb & chicken with raisins & almonds is a favourite. The hummus is very good, and the Mint Moroccan Tea is sweet and fragrant and almost better then dessert. I'm addicted to the tea, try it. The decor is nice and makes one feel like they are actually in Morocco. The richly upholstered banquette is romantic, and the white mesh tulle hanging over the corner alcove makes for a very intimate setting. Prices are very, very reasonable.

4.5 stars After reading the rave reviews on Yelp about Pasha Lounge, my boyfriend and I decided to give it a try. Since neither of us had experienced Moroccan food before, we weren't quite sure what it would be like, but boy, were we pleasantly surprised! First when we entered, we noticed all the great decor. There's a bar with 5-6 seats near the entrance. Many of the tables along the edges of the restaurant had a few big plush lounge chairs. Some of the tables are close together, but I think they make pretty good use of the room they have. After looking over the menu, I was intrigued by the chicken bastilla, which is quoted as being a "plate from heaven" by the Washington Post. Who wouldn't want a little slice of heaven? Dang were they right! This dish resembles a pie - it's stuffed with chicken and almonds flavored with a delicious sauce. The bastilla is baked with phyllo, so it has light, crispy layers of pastry that flake off as you cut into it. To top it all off, the phyllo is sprinkled with powdered sugar and cinnamon to make this a savory yet sweet dish. Who needs dessert? I had it for my main course! yelp.com/biz_photos/DNJC… Needless to say, there were no leftovers on my plate. I couldn't put my fork down. We decided to also try the Moroccan mint tea, which was very different from any tea I've ever had. The leaves were jam packed in the pot, so the tea was incredibly strong. It was also quite thick in texture. From what I've read, Moroccan mint tea is supposed to have a generous amount of sugar but what we were served wasn't very sweet. Soon after our food came, the music was turned up and yes, the belly dancer made an appearance! She started at the front of the restaurant and made her way around to many of the tables, dancing closely to the people eating. I think the men enjoyed this, but I must admit it was a little awkward when she came close to our table, making eye contact as we were eating our dinner. I felt to be courteous to her performance, I should pause and give her some attention even though I didn't want to stop eating my yummy pie of heaven. The belly dancer even enticed a few men to get up and dance with her! Many of them were with their wives who were rolling on the floor with delight, watching their husbands as they tried to imitate the dancer. I have to say, the dancer put on an impressive performance - she had the rhythm down with her finger cymbals and even did a balancing act with a tray of lit candles. yelp.com/biz_photos/DNJC… That's some amazing multitasking, if you ask me! I think what made this dining experience so great, besides the delectable bastilla, were some of the little touches: 1. The service was spot on - very friendly waitress, wait staff was filling up our water glasses when they were getting low, the host brought out our dishes. 2. The bread brought out before the meal had a nice soft texture and was hot from the oven - you can tell it hadn't been sitting around getting stale. Olives covered in a spicy yet mildly sweet oil - also good for dipping the bread! 3. The waitress brought out the Moroccan House Salad on the house. It had diced tomatoes and cucumbers with a light seasoned dressing - very simple and tasty. It was a pleasant dining experience all the way around. I'd highly recommend this restaurant if you happen to be in the Kentlands area.

I went with a friend for lunch. We ordered hummus with chicken to start, then she got the lamb couscous and I got the chicken couscous. - Great atmosphere; the decor is just fun! - Great service - Food was good. My favorite item was the hummus with chicken, which admittedly sounds weird, but it was really good. It was shredded chicken (probs from the stewed chicken dishes) with some of its sauce spooned over hummus with warm pita. Yum! The only reason I'm not giving a fifth star is because I thought my chicken couscous plate could've been slightly better. I would've preferred more vegetables and sauce, and my chicken could've been a little moister. As it was, it came with a large slice of potato, large slice of sweet potato, and two slices of carrot. Our total came to about $30. I'd go back!

Restaurant manager refused to honor a restaurant.com coupon that was not expired, claiming they had updated the terms of their arrangement with restaurant.com and therefore did not have to accept our coupon, even though we had purchased it and it was still in good standing. I will never eat here!!! How rude and illegal!!!

Worst service EVER!!!!!! We had to keep flagging down employees for water, our salads, etc. It took 30 minutes to get 6 drinks, and then only 4 came. The last two took another 10 minutes, but we had to ask for them. They forgot to bring the hummus appetizers until we asked. It took 20 minutes just to serve the 8 of us our entrees - they brought a few plates every few minutes.. They brought the wrong one to one in our party and then we had to remind them what the correct order was. The food was very tasty and the entertainment was great, but I will never go back.

We were a party of 6, in which case they have a prix fixe menu, not to be missed. Portions were huge and much too much food. Really delicious and nice Turkish wines at reasonable prices. The Belly dancer was great fun.

The Kentlands Market Square is a pretty eclectic mix of shopping entertainment, (one movie theater) and dining. I make it a point to do business there during my lunch hour. This gives me a chance to feast, while my pooch (for example) is being tortured at PetsMart. This is a review of the Pasha Lounge. Run by a friendly and highly attentive Morrocan, it's a rich treat for anyone that happens to live in or venture to this obscure suburb of the DC Metro region. The decor alludes to traditional Morrocan mosaics though it's merely painted on. But that's to be expected in the Kentlands, which is a faux village anyway. The atmosphere and lighting at high noon are so reminiscent of Morroco, you'll be tempted stay and do some paperwork after eating! In the past I've simply eaten the lunch specials- which are either chicken or lamb with couscous. They were passable and at least a refreshing treat in this neck of the woods. This time I chose the Chicken Bastilla, a Morrocan classic. I found it to be exceptionally well prepared and flavored correctly for this dish. My side of Morrocan salad was excellent and had the desired effect of cleansing my palate between bites of the rich Bastilla. Since Bastilla combines savory with sweet, a dessert is not typically necessary with this meal, so I simply finished off with a tall glass of the house's Morrocan Mint infusion. scented with jasmine and moderately sweet it complements just about anything that you'll eat at the Pasha Lounge. Be careful to specify an infusion or you'll get black tea with mint- a different experience altogether. I've probably been cheating myself as I often find myself dinning alone here, at the wrong time of day on the wrong day of the week- to experience the full force of a fervent belly dance and how it can enhance a Morrocan meal. I highly recommend a reservation on a Belly Dance night- well worth the trip. To the chef's credit, the menu includes a number of non-Morrocan dishes, making it easy to indoctrinate obstinately pedestrian guests into seeing and trying something different cuisine-wise. The mainstream alternatives also makes the Pasha Lounge an excellent place for family meals.

Service was friendly but non-pro. I came alone for lunch. My table had 4 sets of plates and utensiles none of which were cleared when i was seated. I ordered traditional Moroccan soup Harrira. The last time I had it was when i visited Spain a few years ago and it was a real bouquet of flavors. Harrira from Pasha was seriously lacking flavor. When I added salt and pepper the taste improved slightly. Next was a side dish made of couscous mixed with veggies. It was ok but I did not feel any spice and the veggies failed to sufficiently delegate their flavors to couscous. The main entree was Chichen Bastilla. Bastilla is the name of the infamous French prison destroyed in Paris during the French revolution. In this recipe minced chicken is "imprisoned" by phyllo dough making it essentially a pie. Morocco used to be a French colony by the way. The traditional recipe calls for saffron, white and black pepper, ginger, turmeric, cinnamon sticks, butter, olive oil, eggs, almonds, sugar, orange water, cilantro and of course salt. It is supposed to be a Holiday of Flavors and is amazingly delicious when made right. Pasha's version of Bastilla fell flat on my taste buds. I could taste cinnamon on top of phyllo dough and some sugar, a bit of ground almonds and pieces of bland dry white meat boiled chicken. I doubt chicken was boiled in orange water, i felt no orange flavor. Salt was missing completely. Maybe the chef is against salt for the health reasons? But salt like it or not is a necessary ingredient to balance out flavors. The majority of fine diners go out and willing to pay premuim to entertain their taste buds, not to live longer. And imposing personal health views on clients is a dangerous path for a restaurant. This reminds me a famous French chef from California who decided one not so bright day to completely ban salt from his kitchen. He went out of business 5 months later. Apart from that recent research showed that salt is a vital nutrient for brain and heart function and only people with underperforming kidneys need to worry about salt intake. Anyway, was there anything positive that I can say about Pasha? Yes, i like their tea made actually correctly - a green tea infused in rose water with some mint and sugar added, very good and authentic.

Pasha just sort of popped up in front of me last week. Apparently I went only a few days after they opened (last week), which I guess is why the place was sort of empty. Pity- it's really good. They have their act together, from the waiters to the kitchen. First of all, the food. The most important part. The best part. The tastiest, most authentic, don't-know-what-to-get-first part. The couscous, pasta and bastilla (stuffed fillo) have meat and vegetarian options, and there are a lot of fish, lamb and chicken. I do think this is a place for anyone, and a nice introduction to moroccan food if you've never had it. We didn't have time for dessert, but that's the one part of the menu that was lacking- I think I saw tiramisu on there, doesn't really go with the moroccan part of it all (there was tea and baklava too though!). Their liquor license is pending right now, according to the sign in the window. Service was quick and everyone was very nice- I was pretty impressed that, like I said before, their act is totally together. It's not a first week train wreck.

I invited my family out to dinner at pasha because I heard that they have a belly dancer that dances at 8:00 and that they have free salsa dance lessons at 10:30. I called to make reservations, i asked the guy on the phone when would be a good time to come in order to see the belly dancer and have the free salsa lessons and the guy on the phone suggested for us to come at 7:30 to watch the belly dancer. She was great but I do wish I came at 8:00 instead because she did not start till 8:15. When we got there the service was great the hummus appetizer was amazing and dinner was great I ordered the lemon chicken with olives everyone in my family loved there food except my brother he got the the seafood pasta he did not want it because it did not have much seafood in it. He told the waitress that he did not like his food and if he could have something different, the waitress was very nice to him and replaced his food with a kabob dish that he loved. We ended our dinner with a cup of mint tea. The belly dancer was great too my mom, bother, guest from other tables, and I actually got up to dance w her she was very nice there also was a palestinian man with his wife that played music for us while we ate and he was done playing he personally came to every table introduced himself and thanked us for coming out to eat there. We stayed for the salsa lessons and they were fun. I definitely recommend this place to try you will have a great experience.

Pasha was a huge disappointment. Three of us ordered seafood dishes. The shrimp and scallops were the size of a dime and like rubber from overcooking. The spice combination they used overwhelmed any other flavors. Service was very very slow. I ordered a glass of wine and it was 20 min. before I got it. There web site says kids under 6 eat free. When our check arrived our daughter's kids meal was on the check. When I asked about it the manager came over and said people bring kids all the time and have never mentioned that. He did honor it after he sent someone to look at their own website...which took 15 min.

I choose this restaurant because of its high rating. However, I was disappointed overall The service was slow due to kitchen issues Our appetizers were good and hot but they were delivered late and with Maine courses which were cold The falafel and the eggplant appetizer were good and hot. However, the vegetarian kabob was terrible. The rice was cold and cooked by someone who didn't know how to make rice. The vegetables were burned on the grill and didn't have much variety. I am middle eastern and have eaten the vegetarian kabob and rice at many other places. I will not choose this place again.

Found this gem thanks to Yelp, and so glad I did! Came here at 7PM on a Friday evening and was promptly seated and tended to. As we were waiting for our orders, another gentleman (looked to be a manager) came to us and asked if we had already been helped. Plus one for service! My friend and I shared the hummus appetizer while she had the Lamb Stew (not the shank) and I had the Lamb Kabob. All three dishes were fabulous. The hummus- I had never had hummus so perfectly seasoned! Usually, they're too grainy, too thick or too salty, but this one was literally perfect with the perfect amount of olive oil. And pitted olives with cucumbers sealed the deal for me. I'm supposed to eat gluten free, but I decided to sacrifice my sensitivity to fully enjoy the hummus with the pita for tonight. It was that good. My lamb kabob came in a very generous portion and the lamb wasn't tough as I had expected it to be. Nor did the usual lamb flavor overpower my tastebuds. In fact, you could hardly taste the lamb flavor (which I liked). Do note however that the salad comes with a sauce that tastes a bit like mayo (sorry for my ignorance if it isn't mayo) - had I known earlier, I would have asked for it to be on the side, not drizzled. My friend's lamb stew was sooo very tender and legitimately glided and melted about in my mouth. The lamb flavor was a bit stronger here but not distastefully so. The chef came to check on our table twice to ask about the food - I saw him do the same for other tables as well. Another plus one for great service! And the live music and belly dancing? Cherry on top of a delicious sundae. We had a good crowd though as customers willingly stood up to dance with the belly dancer lady (who was beautiful and charming). All in all, a good night!

Alright, so the food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the lamb stew with veggies, and the lamb was oh-so-tender, perfectly cooked, melt-in-your mouth quality, and perfectly seasoned, too. The rice was generous. The root veggies were buttery and smooth. The belly dancer was very charming, and quite entertaining, too. She wowed us with her sword balancing, hip-thrusting magic. I came in a group of 14 people and I had the opportunity to see a quite a few of my friends become thoroughly embarrassed as the dancer swayed a few inches away from their beet-red faces. All in all, it was a great time. Now for the negatives: I had decided on this restaurant as a reunion for my college buddies- we had a reservation for Saturday night, came in at around 6:45, and waited for over an HOUR for food to arrive. The place was pretty much empty when we came in, and by the time food arrived, we were just about the last group in the restaurant to be served. After being seated, it took them around 15 minutes to get our orders. Then, besides the water-pouring lady, everyone else seemed to forget about us. No bread, no updates on the food, no nothing. At around the 50-minute mark, we kept trying to make eye contact with the waiter, and after what seemed like an eternity (according to my stomach), he finally came over and was very impatient, assuring that food is coming. When we asked about bread, he was hesitant and said that if we eat bread, we won't have any room left over for the meal... but I mean, come on. We are 14 voracious young adults after an hour of driving, plus laser tag. Just give us something. I do understand that they were waiting for all the food to come out at once, but there was another group who arrived after us; they seemed to be getting their entrees after we had already waited for half an hour. After dinner, it also took them quite a while (~20 minutes) to process our payments. Also, the live music was entertaining at first, but after some time, the loud acoustics punctured by reverberating cymbals started giving me a headache. It's impossible to have a decent conversation in there. A discussion with my friend: me: "So how has your summer been?" her: "It was..." *CLANG CLANG* "....pretty good. I was doing..." ALLALLOOOOOOOOOLALALA! *CLANG CLANG CLANG* "... and overall, the experience was..." *CLANG* "..onderful." me: "oh." tldr; The place is extremely understaffed, meaning poor service, and music is way too loud. But food is great, and the belly dancer is lovely.

My husband and I are new to the neighborhood, so we thought we'd check out one of the local restaurants, and I am so glad we did! I was a little concerned initially because we were the only people there (granted, it was a weeknight, but still), but my concerns went away once we got our food! I ordered the stewed chicken, which was very tender. I did have some leftovers for lunch about two days later, and I will say that the chicken and rice tasted way saltier than I recalled when the meal was fresh, but maybe that is just what happened after I sat a few days. My husband got the lamb shank, which he said was so good that he forced himself to overeat to finish the whole damned thing and the mountain of rice on top of it. We also had the hummus appetizer, which was good. One last note is that the Moroccan mint tea is amazing. We will definitely be back!

"Call the police and the fireman" Cause this place is hot, hot damn. The Royal Hummus Platter: 4 separate heaps of hummus with chicken on top of one, some delicious stewed meat on top of another, a type of cut up sausage on another, and one with 3 large delicious green olives. All heaps were fantastic (Although I would add just a little more acid if it was me) - and they served it with ALMOST enough pita to go ham on all the hummus. But to be honest... it was so good that after the Pita well ran dry, people were slyly swiping their forks at it like no one else was watching. The Royal Kebab Platter: I didn't actually order this. I just had some pretty tangible food jealously when it came to the table and sat in front of Jessica. 4 large kebabs are piled on top of each other with salad and rice. I believe it is chicken, lamb, kefta, and vegetables. It looked amazing, and I got to try the kefta which was truly top notch. I decided to order the "Chicken Stew" Not as much of a stew as one would think. I think that the chicken was stewed in this sauce, and then they took it out of the stew and put it on the plate. Whatever they did to that chicken "Gimme Gimme More, Gimme More, Gimme Gimme More" The stew was with lemons and olives ( preserved lemons). An ingredient that I hear all too often, but I don't believe have ever tasted. The chicken was fall apart tender, super flavorful and acidic, and paired wonderfully and beautifully the accompanying rice. It was like a little sun landed in front of me when the plate was brought out. The stewed chicken was this deep shimmering yellow which was flanked by this YELLOW out-of-the-box colored crayon rice. The deserts consisted of an almond cream cake #MikeBSealOfApproval and Baklava- The seal follows suit. The mint tea was another deliciously fragrant addition to this meal. #JustGetIt It's worth it, it's delicious, it goes well with everything your gonna have. Service was very friendly but lacked a bit as far as timing was concerned. I wish that after our drinks came, our waiter was a bit more prompt to come back and get our food order. Other than that, quite a perfect meal. The inside is decorated absolutely beautifully, and the jazzy tunes that they had from the keyboardest/flautist that night were nice and not too loud as to hinder conversation. Can't wait to try out more on the menu.

I am sure you have all experienced this: You go to a restaurant and think you are trying something new only to go home and discover that it was the same meal you had on your last visit to the same restaurant. I think I might have start keeping track of this food I am eating here, because if I don't watch it, I am going to end up eating the same thing each visit. It's all good though, as the food was good. I won't go into details on what I had on this visit as it is in my last review. What I will add, so I can remember for my next visit, is that I need to try the Royal Kabob as it has lots of meat and can be shared with someone; eat more of the Royal Hummus, very delicious with the pita bread (psst...message to self: don't share this with anyone on your next visit) and the one that has the lamb chops looks really good too. I am already looking forward to my next visit.

A gold mine in the heart of Gaithersburg. Been living in the neighborhood for years, was very hesitant to try it since I knew it was expensive and I just assumed that it would be "meh" quality. This place exceeded every expectation. The food was awesome. The service was awesome. The ambiance...yep, awesome. The chef even came out and did some corny but sweet magic tricks with my kids. This place can be anything you want it to be. Be it a family night out, or a romantic escapade. I strongly suggest this place. And in of all places.

Appetizer: Humi Merguez - beef & lamb sausage served with hummus. Yum yum yum! The meet is super tender and hummus is amazing too! Entrees: (1) Lamb Shank on a bed of rice - very good. The lamb just falls off the bone with a slight touch with your fork. (2) Seafood Bastillas - even better. This is almost like a calzone, but the outside covering is not as thick. It's light and crispy. There are ALL KINDS of seafood inside. It's pretty fishy as you can imagine with all the seafood, so if you're not a seafood lover, I'd stay away from this one. Drinks: I had a glass of merlot. DO NOT GET IT. It tasted like the bottle was opened weeks ago. If you want to drink wine, get it by the bottle. Decor: The decor is soooo cute but it felt strange because we were the only customers in the whole restaurant. It was 8:15 on a Tuesday night, so maybe the dinner rush had already left?? They forgot to turn on music until we were almost done with dinner, but that was OK. I turned on music from my phone during our meal.

I visited this place with couple of my friends who are essentially foodie and love to try. At first look the place is very inviting. The restaurant is turned into the pub after 11 with disco lights and all which was fun part. I ordered hummus for starter which was yumm but my main course which constituted of Veggie kebob was a big disappointment. The eggplant and zucchini and onions were all raw and there was no marination on them what so ever. The rice on the side were flavorless as well. Only good part was salad. I spent 13$ on main dish and I didn't eat a single morsel of it and left the place hungry. I did try the tea and it was good.

I am SO glad I was able to give Pasha Land another try! I came here for a dinner party, and the group started off in sharing some Royal Hummus - this was a combination of Humi Merguez (sliced beef and lamb sausage, set on top of hummus), Humi Lamb (boneless stewed lamb, served on top of hummus), Humi Chick (shredded roasted chicken, set on top of hummus), and some hummus topped with salty green pitted olives. I wasn't really feeling the merguez, as it was game-y in taste for me, but the stewed lamb was tender and delicious, and the shredded roasted chicken was really yummy. A basket of a generous amount of triangular-shaped pita bread was served (which were more on the thin side). For my main entree, I was able to try the Lamb Chops - these were 4 mini pan-seared lamb chops, served with a side of basmati rice and stewed vegetables (carrots, squash, and potatoes) - the lamb chops were tender and juicy, but I just wished it had more flavor and were a little larger (it was mentioned that the lamb chops have gotten slightly smaller). I tried some of EMMA W.'s Chicken Moroccan Stew, with preserved lemon and olives, and this was quite yummy! The saltiness of the olives, the slight tang of the lemon, and the tender roasted chicken was a great combination; I also noticed some guests ordering the Pasha Steak, which was a T-bone steak that looked to be grilled to perfect, so I am definitely going to check those babies out the next time! :D Everyone enjoyed a cup of mint tea (the pot was never-ending), which was sweetened, minty, and soothing. For dessert, some of us tried the baklava, but I tried the famous Cream of Almond Cake - this was a pleasant surprise, as it was not overly sweet, had a nice almond-y taste throughout in a light, moist, pound cake-like slice; it was also drizzled with chocolate sauce. Service was extremely friendly and kind - you are more than welcome to wave down the waitstaff and control how quickly you'd like your meal time to be; ours was a little long, but I didn't mind too much as we were having a good time just enjoying the food and chit-chatting. I loved the musician, as he was jamming on the keyboard and playing his sax (I wasn't able to catch him before he left, but hopefully, he'll come back!) - they have live music on the weekends, which is great to know! The manager, Mr. Ahmed, came around to make sure that everything was good, which is always a nice touch! I'll be back! :D +Humi Chick +Humi Lamb +Chicken (Moroccan Stew) with preserved lemon and olives +Cream of Almond cake +live music on weekends! :D +friendly and kind staff :D

Super awesome place for vegetarians!!! They have such a vast menu. Everything we tried was really good. When we mentioned to the server about our dietary restrictions, the chef himself attended us. He is also the owner of the place. He told us so much about the Moroccans and about his own restaurant. We had their falafel, hummus, veggie kebabs, Bastilla, couscous and baklava. The chef also got us a special hot sauce, harissa which was soooo good. The portions were very huge. The ambience is very warm. They also have special belly dance performance on Friday and Saturday. Will definitely go back!!

I love this place. The owner is the sweetest man. He taught me how to properly and artfully pour tea so that now I can impress my friends with my sweetened Moroccan mint tea pouring skills. The food is delicious, and there's a champagne drink that's worth the price. There's also one shy server that's taking the sweetness cue from the owner. There's a belly dancing performer on Saturday nights - kids are fascinated with her and try to dance with her, and conversations usually stop! If you're not facing the dancer, it's almost as entertaining to watch the facial expressions on the patrons.

The food here is amazing and the one man service is impeccable. No matter what your entree is (it's going to be delicious by the way), you HAVE to share a pot of the mint tea for the table (I prefer sweetened). Don't let the word mint throw you off -- it doesn't taste like toothpaste at all. It's a very mellow hint of the herb with a delicate sweetness to it. Make sure to top your meal off with some almond cream cake. Buuuut unlike the tea, make sure to keep those darned stray forks off your cake! Dude, that cake is too good to share. I only recommend sharing if you *reaaaally* like your friends. I got the lamb chops cooked medium and they were delicious. I really wish the portion was a little bigger, but they load your plate with rice and veggies (yam, potato, carrot, and squash) so you're full no matter what. My two friends got the chicken stew and salmon -- both were equally good (I'll probably get the lamb stew next time). As for the service, I kid you not, there was ONE waiter for 8 perpetually full tables. I have no idea how he juggled this many tables, but he did it... Food and drinks came out really quickly. At one point we had to flag him down, because he was just that busy, but as soon as we asked for the dessert it came within 5 minutes (he even apologized for the delay). Before we left, he was rushing back into the kitchen to grab another table's food, but not before turning around and wishing us 3 girls a good night. Either we are that spectacular or the guy is just that wonderful... Or both :D. P.S. If you're not a fan of Moroccan, then just come here for the mint tea and almond cream cake. Do iiiit.

I love this place! My first experience with Moroccan food and I love it. We always order the hummus and split the lamb kabobs. They are phenomenal and more than enough to share. I try to stay away from carbs, but their rice is worth every bite. They have a great and reasonably priced wine selection as well. I love to go on Friday nights and watch the belly dancer perform, she is very captivating and entertaining to watch.

I have been to this place many times, and I always have a good experience. The owner has a ton of personality and is always great to talk to! The food is good. The huge hummus platter is good. The kabobs are good. The stews are good.... and be prepared for generous portions. Also the mint tea and almond cream dessert are must tries... I get them every time I go...

I absolutely love this place the food was amazing not too spice and just enough if you are hungry! If not you will have left overs for later. My personal experience: I am new to the area so as usual I yelped and this place came up as something to my liking. So I came at 953pm to be exact the sign on the door read closes at 10pm but there were two guys working who tkld me to come in and eat and OH MY! Did I eat! Ahmed was the cook and come to find out he was in the army just like me he is a retired helicopter pilot! He told since I was new to the area I am family and welcome to anything! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Where to begin! Pasha Land is home to the best service & food I've found in the area! All of the staff are extremely attentive & friendly. They take extreme pride in their restaurant and what they do. I have dined here on multiple occasions, and let me tell you, the food here is DIVINE. A few must have's when visiting Pasha Land: 1) The Royal Hummus Platter - Hummus with Sausage, Lamb, Chicken, & olives. Simply can't be beat! 2) Chicken Bastilla - Nicknamed the "Plate of Heaven" and man does it ever deliver on that name! Phyllo stuffed with marinated chicken, almonds, herbs, onions, and Moroccan spices, topped with powdered sugar & cinnamon (don't knock it until you've tried it!!!). 3) Merguez - (my personal go-to item on the menu) Ground beef & lamb sausage with marinara sauce, served with rice. Has bit of a kick to it, but it's soooo good! 4) Baklava - This is made fresh every time, IN HOUSE, using only the freshest ingredients. You won't find any better anywhere else! 5) Moroccan Mint Tea - This tea is addictive! It is a sweet, hot, mint tea that will keep you coming back for more! My fiance & I recently had our engagement party hosted at Pasha Land, and the owner & staff took extremely good care of us. The food was superb (as always), and the belly dancer was a huge hit!!! I believe there is a belly dancer that comes in on weekend evenings, so be sure to check that out! They were also kind enough to provide a Henna artist for us and our guests. This was extremely unique & nice of them to do. All of our friends & family enjoyed themselves very much, and we will be coming back very soon to dine at Pasha Land again!

Can I give zero stars? I'm giving this place one star for terrible customer service before we even walked in the door. My wife and I had a reservation for valentine's day for six people. Unfortunately we had people cancel on us last minute so we called to change our reservation. We were told they couldn't accommodate us which is ok. I understand that. But being rude about it is unacceptable which was followed by the employee hanging up on my wife. I called back and spoke to the manager informing him of what happened. He denied what happened and then hung up on me. That's some great customer service there lol. Guess we won't be trying this place ever.

My friend Michelle loves to visit new places, particularly when it offers unique cuisine. She's also mad timid. She had a birthday dinner at Pasha Land/Lounge over the summer, where we were entertained with belly dancing and she was even given her own jingly top. It was great fun, especially seeing Michelle be bullied into try out the dance. I returned to Pasha Land for a weekend lunch (my friend chose it because minus the steak, the meats are Zabiha Halal). It was much quieter and fairly vacant. We shared a Humi Chicken (curried chicken mixed in hummus with pita bread). It was decent appetizer for two, though it got cold pretty quick. I ordered a $11 gyro platter. Simple and traditional, four slices of gyro on a bed of salad and a large portion of rice. My friend got lamb couscous, which has exactly what it says, along with these giant pieces of squash and potato. The lamb was very tender, but my friend put it best and said it could use a side of spices or sauce. We ordered tea in the end - a sweet green tea - which I do think is a worthwhile finish. A little under $50 for the entire meal - I was a little caught off guard by this. In short, the food is mediocre, but I do think it's a cuisine that's worth having at least once. Definitely the tea. The setting is nice. When filled up, it might be more than intimate" - in fact, you might be shoulder to shoulder with your neighbor. But on a quiet Saturday, the design, artwork, and trinkets are easy to admire. The server worked solo to attend two tables, so it was a little awkward that our glasses of water were left empty the majority of our stay. But the owner was sweet and came out multiple times to check on our food and experience. I can definitely say that his warmth bumps this grade up a whole star. I give four stars because I think it deserves more traffic to show that it can step up to the plate and be a 5 start restaurant!

Had a fantastic meal and amazing entertainment at Pasha Land last Friday night. Expected something a little out of the ordinary, but was surprised at how much fun and lively this place would be. Friday and Saturday nights they have a belly dancer and a guy that plays live music for her to dance to. It kinda felt like the entire restaurant was dining together. After our meal the owner came by to check on us. The food was spectacular also.

To be honest, I'm a bit disappointed with Pasha Land. The food here's just ok in my opinion. Portion wise, this place does give you plenty of food. Service wise, it's just alright. The best thing about this place's the belly dancer, she's extremely energetic & engaging. Lamb Stew ($17) - Topped with Roasted Almonds & Raisins. This was quite disappointing as this dish was highly recommended by my waiter. The ingredients within the lamb're not enough, it's def lacking flavors. Royal Couscous($24) - Lamb, Chicken, Merguez (beef & lamb sausages) and Veggies. This wasn't half bad. Once again, the lamb & chicken're lacking my flavors. However, the merquez's delicious; They're packing quite the spices & flavors! The couscous was also nicely made. In the future, I'd get just the merquez couscous.

You can find perfection in Pasha Land. The warm and cozy Moroccan decor is warm and inviting. The service was spot on. Our waiter was attentive and quick to make sure our dining experience was delightful. His expertise with the tea service was quite a show. I started with a cocktail that had champagne and a peach liquor. It was exceptional. The house made hummus had a variety of toppings that included lamb, sausage, and olives. It was creamy and well seasoned. I ordered the lamb chops that were perfectly cooked. The meat was juicy and tender. My platter also included basmati rice and cooked vegetables. The rice and the vegetables were flavorful and tender. The seasoning complimented the meat dish, but did not overwhelm the other flavors. Other diners had the lamb stew, a sausage dish, and a chicken dish. Everyone was happy with their meal. The mint tea had a pleasant mint flavor. It was warm and satisfying. The layer cake was the perfect way to end a superb meal. The layers of soft cake and creamy filling satisfied the sweet tooth for each diner. The sweet and crunchy topping added another dimension to the delectable dessert. Located, across from the theatre in the Kentland's shopping center, Pasha Land is a little bit of paradise.

Fair amount of parking in the sprawling plaza. Seating in tables ringed by cozily tall banquettes, with a small bar at front and a patio. Service was sparse but wonderfully good-natured. On recommendation, I went with the harrira soup in my combo over the lentil soup. Smattering of chickpeas amongst lentils, and soft long grain rice swimming in seasoned tomato broth. Lamb shank was tender, but the bed of couscous beneath was bland... herbs would have done wonders in the absence of saucing. I found the accompanying veggies lacking in volume and variety-- a few carrots, squash, and potato cooked until soft. My search for La Kasbah's replacement continues, but I'll be back to try the mint tea, eggplant, lamb with almonds and raisins, royal couscous, and other soups.

This place was wonderful. Beautiful atmosphere and delicious food. The live music and belly dancer was an extra, nice touch. I can see this place being a lot of fun for a large group. We had the humi merguez (amazing), falafel, lamb shank stew, and chicken bastilla. Everything was served fresh, hot, flavorful, and in really, really generous portions. I can't wait to go back to try more.

Overall a solid Moroccan experience with decent dishes, sizable portions. We've had several small and large parties here and the service has been fantastic. The one negative remark I will make is to make sure the terms of your party are crystal clear as they be subject to additional charges when it comes time to settle the bill.

Me and my family went there yesterday for my 22nd birthday dinner and loved it! The chicken basilla was amazing and the hummus. In the end the chef came out to greet us and he was so friendly and let us know that everything is homemade. You can taste that it is! We will be back and we will be letting our friends and family about pasha land!

Great atmosphere, their chicken is the best Ive ever had- falls right off the bone and absolutely delicious. Big portions. Bastilles are an amazing contradiction of sweet and savory. If you go on a Friday or Saturday night there is live morrocan music. Owner and staff are all super friendly and attentive.

I could eat here every day. Had veggie cous cous (excellent) chicken tagine (amazing) and falafel (really, really good). Really nice place to sit down and have a meal, great server, nice atmosphere. One FYI: the place turns into a club after 10pm on Saturdays so if you go for a late meal be prepared for some thumping bass and disco lights while you're finishing up (this didn't bother us at all... just a heads up).

Okay, I have several points on why this is a 5 star type of place. 1. Going out to eat with small children is a pain in the ... well you know. The owner of Pasha Land is AMAZING. Not only is he so sweet with kids but he honestly makes the place so inviting and accommodating for them. Most places seem uncomfortable when you come in with a kid, not Pasha Land. 2. The food is literally TO DIE FOR. I recommend anything with lamb. I LOVE the kabobs and the cous cous with lamb. My husband has tried the vegetarian options several times and raves about those as well. 3. The bar. Not only are the wait staff really good at recommending what will pair nicely with your meal but you get your drink in less than 5 minutes after you order it. 4. The atmosphere. The seating is very cultural feeling and super comfortable. The benches are lined with decorative padding and pillows. Overall, this place is my favorite middle eastern eatery around. The owner has come out every time we visit to check and see how we are doing and if we like our food. He always delights my son and makes us feel very welcome. There are few places that are as impressive as this one.

Always good food. And they have a different belly dancer than I've seen before. I had the vegetable bastilla which was delicious. He had the chicken and rice stew. Very tasty. Our waiter kept asking us every t minutes until our food came if we wete good. But after our food he disappeared. We had a good chuckle. Don't use open table to reserve. They don't seem to pay attention to it. And the older couple who perform are Incredibly talented.

I /really/ wanted to love this place. I really did. I thought the decor was amazing and the menu looked great so I was excited for a good dinner. Despite how much I wanted to try the bastille, I am cutting carbs so opted for a Pasha steak described as a Moroccan spiced t-bone steak served with rice and vegetables. I ordered it rare, and asked for salad instead of rice. The SO and I both ordered the mint tea, expecting the typical unsweetened mint tea found in hookah bars. Instead it was sweetened to death and I was uncomfortable with letting the nearly $5 tea go to waste! When our food came out, disappointment settled in. Just glancing at the steak I know it has been cooked to death. I tried choking down the tough grey chunk of meat which was painfully flavorless. By the way: did I mention it was supposed to be a t-bone? Because there was no bone in sight. The salad was absolutely atrocious as well- you'd think if you're eating a "Moroccan" restaurant, you'd get a Mediterranean style salad. NOPE. This was romaine lettuce doused with CORN, pimento olives (disgusting), and tomatoes topped with RANCH DRESSING. This salad looked like it was built at the Ponderosa salad bar! So my food looked like crap, what about the SO? Well, his vegetarian special was was just a massive mound of rice, with a massive mound of couscous, topped with a mountain of potatoes. A few slices of carrots, and a sad, sad, sad mound of underseasoned prunes sat on top of this carb mountain sprinkled with some slivered almonds. It was painfully bland. As we silently tried to finish our meals and our water glasses sat empty, we counted this place amongst our losses. Now, you're probably wondering why we just didn't send the food back? Having pretty much eaten my way across America my honest opinion is that if everything you send out of the kitchen is crap, sending it back will do you no good. This is what they thought was ok to serve you, you're not going to see much improvement when it's sent back. I guess this is what happens when you drive up-county for ethnic food. We sat there for what seemed like an eternity waiting for our check before we just finally got up to go to the front. Promptly sent back to our seats, we're thinking this might be the worst 50 something dollar meal we've ever had. (10 dollars for a sickly sweet kettle of mint tea for two!) This place essentially caters for people who want to eat at a "pretty" place devoid of actual minorities and flavors. Let's just say this place is like Ponderosa with couscous and better decor!

Lamb with almonds and raisins was very tasty. Fresh baklava for desert. Very friendly owner invited me back for live jazz and some Moroccan tea. Can't wait to bring my family here regularly. Nicely done Ahmed!

We ordered the Pasha Steak and Chicken Bastilla. The wine list was limited, but we had a decent red with dinner. I was skeptical about the Chicken Bastilla as the waiter told us it was popular, and am glad I tried it.

My first time at this restaurant and it was a good meal. I had the Lamb Stew which was a well flavored braise. Interesting wines to complement the cuisine. I will eat here again.

First time coming here for my step fathers birthday would have never came across it, because it's an hour away from where I live. So we get here and the shopping center is a little crowded. Parking here was a little hectic and we had to park a little ways away then walk over. So we go in , the place had one table sitting down so we were immediately helped with a smile , everyone was very welcoming. I thought we had a good table until a little later when everyone started filling in around us and made me realize how small the place really was. But anyway we placed our drink order with the nice friendly waiter , I use that term really strongly because no matter how many times we changed our order he never showed any sign of being annoyed. I checked the menu before we arrived & decided that I wanted a gyro sandwich with fries but was informed that they didn't have any. So I settled for the seafood bastilla , I've never tried it before but I figured I would give it a try. Food took fairly long for us to be the only table waiting at the time. When the food finally arrived it looked really good, ehhh maybe not mines per se but everyone else's at my table did. I cut into it , it spelled good and kind of tasted good. I wouldn't order it again though, I had to ask the waiter did they have any sauce because it was really dry and fishy tasting. He brought out some spicy sauce and a white garlicky sauce that really helped me finish it. I also devoured it because I was starving and hadn't eaten since 1 this afternoon. All in all I would return but like I said I wouldn't order the same thing and I gave this place 4 stars simply because the atmosphere is great and the staff is really nice and attentive.

It is all in the spices. I have been to this place several times but was never in the mood to write a review until now. A group of us went yesterday and my favorite thing to get there is the eggplant salad. There is so much heavy set food during the winter that I needed something light but still flavorful. Yes, I am sure they chill it before they serve it to me but just the act of doing that combine with the spices, it is simply refreshing. Completely wakes up my tastebuds. The royal hummus did not entail different types of hummus, just one type with different toppings. I got the spicy chicken and there is definitely a kick to it. Basically a piece of chicken, with a tomato sauce full of spices and hot pepper and yellow rice. Don't get it unless you have at least a tolerance to Chipotle medium salsa. My other favorite dish is the chicken bastilla, except I don't like the powder sugar on top. I don't like combining entree with dessert, but you can ask for without the sugar. I wonder if they will be willing to add the harissa sauce in the spicy chicken to the chicken bastilla, because that could be legendary. Other ppl got Royal feast, chicken couscous, lamb Kefta, and gyro. Some cleaned their plates, other couldn't because there was so much food. Although the staffs were friendly, they were somewhat inefficient. They looked like they were running around a lot but not fully thinking about the most efficient way to do things. All in all keep up the good work but continue to keep improving.

THEY DON'T TAKE AMEX! Food was ok. Not the best moroccan I've had but pretty tasty. A little too bland--could have used some more flavor. Prices are good though.

Every time I go here, the food is always amazing. Well, I tend to stick with what I know and I know for a FACT that the Egg Plant salad is to die for and the royal couscous is always perfect. I love to try new restaurants all the time, but sometimes I can't help but come here because it's just that darn good. A solid tip for dining here is stick with the Moroccan dishes and avoid the Greek ones.

Arrived early one rainy evening and we were the only customers there. The ambiance is fantastic. I bet it's beautiful at night with many customers. We ordered the sampler-type dish full of meat and rice. It was pricey but good - the meats were all fresh, moist and tasty. Service was good too. The price is the reason for the low rating.

I am going to keep this short and sweet like owner Fatima. :) Went off peak hours on a Sunday afternoon and spent at the bar with one couple outside in the heat on the patio. Got the Kefta $14.95 and it was delicious. Big portion of pieces of chicken veggies and basmati rice nice and fluffy. Mom chef came out and said hi and the menu is soooooooo alluring. The couple got the lamb raisins and almonds special and that looked great too. I need a point of coming here more often as they have been in biz 10 years? and there really only are a handful of good mom and pop places like Vasilis Greek in Kentlands.

I made a reservation for 15 on open table for my friends birthday dinner. We were so excited to try the yummy food and see the belly dancer! We arrive on schedule and a few people cancel last minute. The owner proceeds to throw a tantrum and states that " how rude of you to show up with no shows! Open table charges me per person! Now I have to pay for your people who didn't show!" Umm, wtf? Really? First off, how rude. And secondly, if you dislike something about open table then perhaps you shouldn't do business with them. The rest of the night goes downhill from there! The food took forever to come out. They completely forgot one girls order, as she was the only one sitting there with no food. They then proceed to tell us that it's coming out. 25 mins later they come out and ask her what she ordered. So obviously they did not put in her order. Another 25 mins later and her food finally arrived. The food was ok. Nothing great. The one thing I learned from this is instead of making reservations on open table, I call the restaurant directly as now I am scarred for life. One star for food and service. Two stars only because the belly dancer was great!

3.5 stars for the food, 10 stars for the service! We ordered the Moroccan mint tea pot which was a little too sweet for me, so my bf drank it all. The owner noticed this, so he brought me my own unsweetened teapot! The tea had a very nice taste and aroma. I'd recommend it unsweetened. For the entrees, we ordered the (1) chicken bastilla, (2) lamb with raisins and almonds, and the (3) chicken kabob 1) The owner came out with the bastilla and powdered only half of it with confectioners sugar because he knew I didn't like my food too sweet! Haha wow, talk about reading my mind and catering to my every need without asking. The phyllo dough crust is flaky like baklava and was stuffed with warm, sweet marinated chicken with almonds and other spices. It wasn't the best thing I ever ate, but it's definitely a good side dish to try and share. 2) The lamb with reconstituted raisins was cooked perfectly. The raisins were pump and juicy and were a nice complement to the lamb. The lamb could've used more flavor or spice because it was a tad bit bland to me. I was definitely expecting a nice blend of spices to kick in, but it was more of a sweeter dish because of the raisins. Overall, a nice dish. 3) The chicken kabob platter looked beautiful and was quite large. The dinner platter comes with two kabobs. The crisp salad had a variety of fresh vegetables, and the chicken kabobs were tender and seasoned perfectly. However, the kabobs was charred a little too much--nevertheless, a great platter. I would definitely come here again to try some of the other dishes and for the outstanding service...and maybe for some belly dancing.

We went for lunch today and I have to admit I had forgotten just how wonderful this place is to eat!!! the food was incredible and I can't begin to tell you how great the staff was. I cannot wait to go back. As we quoted "it is heaven on a plate". So fresh and delicious. Thank you and WE WILL BE BACK. You have to stay for dessert and tea. They also told us about the belly dancers (I have been there for this before and it is alway a treat) and Sunday night is jazz night. I cannot tell you enough just how wonderful the food was. Beautiful people and incredible food what more could you ask for!!!

I've been wanting to try this place for years and finally did so! I've had Moroccan food before so I knew what to expect. I was hoping the dining experience was a tad more authentic, but the decor was still nice. Came on a Monday evening and there wasn't much of a crowd when we first arrived. For an appetizer we got the hummus--it was standard, good quality hummus, nothing too special. I ordered the lamb couscous and my partner ordered the Kefta special meatballs. The lamb was perfectly cooked and literally fell off the both. It was a huge portion along with couscous and yummy big chunks of squash, carrots, and sweet potato. While it was delicious, I thought it lacked a lot of flavor and spices one would expect from Moroccan food. My partner in crime loved his meatballs....I tried one and thought they were pretty good, but again, nothing special. Maybe I'm too used to eating the bold flavors of Ethiopian and Indian food, but this place just didn't bring it. Do ask for their garlic sauce though, as it does add a little something. The service was good at first, but it started to get busy and there was only one waiter, so we had to wait forever to get the check. All in all, it was a good experience. I'm still on the hunt for authentic Moroccan food in the DMW!

Great place! Family owned and the owner is awesome! Great service, he cares and the food is quality food prepared with love. The restuarant inside is very nice and cozy! My friend and I had the lamb shank and lamb kabobs which were fantastic! The garlic spread that came with it was amazing!! I would definitely come back here again when I am in the area...thank you to the owner for being so friendly!

Beautiful owner with lovely personality. Loved the royal couscous. It is royal in every sense. I tasted a little bit of my friends chicken bastilla and loved it too. The moroccan kabobs which came with the couscous were very unique. The tea was so refreshing and lightly sweet. can't wait to go there again sooon.

Two words: bastille chicken. Just like the picture, the inside is chicken with something too good to describe, with such a flaky nice skin wrapped around it, powder a-top with sugar -- so mm mmm good!! The couscous with lamb and kabob with rice was also distinctly good. But not as good as the bastille. We went on a Monday night so there was nobody there except for the three groups of people I saw there between 7 to 9 pm, so the service was really fast and good, cus we were the only ones to serve dur. The couches were so nice and comfy (would be really nice during the winter time), and lots of colorful patterns. We be comin back here fa sho.

Oh, what a night! Our family was in from out of town to visit our parents, and my task was to choose a restaurant from afar. Based only on Yelp and Opentable reviews, I picked Pasha Land, and wow did we hit the jackpot. The owner gave us wonderful personal attention - recommending dishes and bringing samples, joking with us and trying to entice my daughter to belly dance. All the service was attentive but not hovering. We ordered one of the special family-style meals - 2 of them for 6 people - and there was more than enough food. For six people that came to $20/person - a steal. More important than quantity, though, the quality was exceptional. The bastilla, especially, is a complex compound of flavors and textures - the light and crisp phyllo, the hot and savory verging on spicy chicken, and the light dusting of powdered sugar countering the filling. (Bastilla goes wonderfully with their Lebanese red wine.) The bastilla was followed by a lemon chicken and a lamb dish, with rice. Both meats were fall-off-the-bone tender and moist, a great pair of flavors to take together, and the pieces of preserved lemon disappeared very quickly. Small (in a good way) and not too heavy Moroccan equivalent of baklava and richly-scented mint tea closed the meal. Noise level inside on belly dancing nights is conversation challenging, but outdoors is delightful and quiet. Pasha Land is inexpensive enough to be go-to weeknight place, but unusual and special enough for a romantic or celebratory meal. Either way, you'll be treated like...a pasha. This will become a regular stop any time we visit our parents!

The Pasha Land restaurant provides Moroccan comfort food at its best. It honestly rivals a home cooked Moroccan meal straight from grandma's kitchen. My favorite dishes at Pasha would consist of the following.. Hot bowl of Harira, (Morocco's famous lentil, tomato and chickpea soup) Zesty stewed lentils with or without meat depending on my mood. Use a spoon if you must, but I prefer to eat lentils as you would a dip - by scooping everything up with crusty Moroccan bread. Seafood or Chicken Bastilla. Bastilla is made by enclosing fully cooked fillings within paper-thin warqa pastry. Pasha does it extremely well & I can't help but order an extra dish of Bastilla to take home with me. Pasha offers a Veggie Bastilla alternative, but I have yet to try it. I hear its great. My favorite Lamb dish is accompanied with Raisins and Almonds & has a perfect balance that's not overwhelmingly sweet or spicy. The Lamb practically falls off the bone. It's extremely tender and doesn't have that strong gamey flavor that you typically find with lamb. Pasha clears out the dining area after 10:00 P.M. on Friday + Saturday night and morphs into a dance club/lounge with a talented DJ at the helm. The bartenders are pretty & drinks are reasonably priced. The comfortable Moroccan style seating arrangements utilize the space perfectly & the authentic Moroccan decor stimulate the senses. I don't usually leave reviews, but this place knocks it out of the park & deserves acclaim.

We went to Pasha Land to celebrate our daughter's 22nd birthday. The mint tea was typical of Morrocco, so soothing and delicious. The hummus was the best ever. The chef informed us that he makes it from scratch. He boils the chick peas and peels them. The soups were all very tasty. We ordered the harira, the lentil soup, and the split pea soup. All three were delicious although I prefer the split pea. For main dishes we ordered the lamb cous cous, chicken barillas, and the salmon. The portions were huge. I prefer the chicken and the lamb dishes to the fish. We brought our own birthday cake. The waiter graciously put it in the fridge for us and then he brought it out with plates and forks. The service was excellent and the chef came out to ask us about our food. He was very kind. He also sent us a complementary piece of cake with a candle. He joined us in singing Happy Birthday. We will have our Christmas party there for sure.

My son and I went there for lunch today after me begging my picky eaters to go try Pasha Land with me for many months. Well, today I was able to coerce my son to go with me. :-) We are so incredibly happy we went there. The food was sooooo delicious. It seems to be a family-owned place (which I always like to support) and both the mom and daughter who welcomed us were so nice. The father (I'm guessing) also stopped to say hello and we felt completely welcomed, as if we truly were guests at their house. According to the daughter, all the food is homemade (and you can certainly taste it) and the harrira soup I ate had been made fresh by the mom. I had the chicken kabob and it was AWESOME! I could have had a gallon of the Tzatziki that came in a little size dish, like a dipping sauce, and the jasmine rice was unbelievable. I have to say that the thing that I appreciated the most is that nothing was too garlicky - many places nowadays drown their food in garlic and then you stink for three days, which I hate. Nothing that I ate there was like that, and I absolutely loved it. Please don't ever change! My son had the grilled chicken breast with couscous. He loved it, which says a lot - he can be super picky, especially when it comes to spices. Evidently, as Pasha Land, they have mastered the perfect use of spices. Everything was super flavorful and not overwhelming; truly perfect. I'll be going back for sure. Next time I want to go on a Friday to see the belly dancing show! Thank you for a lovely meal and for treating us so well!

Every item on this menu is prepared with much love and soul. This makes your tastebuds make a happy dance for every bite you put in your mouth. Hummus sampler - get it. You will be cleaning your plate with the pita bread after that. This place is not very quick, if you are lunching, allow some extra time, but it's all worth it.

Great food, super comfortable cushiony seating with a beautiful ambience and wonderful service. The owner himself comes by to chat and make sure we have everything we need, bringing us little extras. We saw the table next to us, one of whom apparently had complimented the owner on a particular dish, be speechless when he came over again with a warm, wrapped up present of the same dish for her to take home 'on the house'. It was funny to see the lady flabbergasted. He's really that kind and generous! What we dream of always, though, is his one-of-a-kind mint tea. It's to die for!! We think of it multiple times a week as we're making our own tea, and always seeking but never attaining that special and heavenly taste. Yummy.

The service and atmosphere are great in this quaint Moroccan restaurant. I was very pleased with the food. The lamb was fall-off-the-bone tender, and the Chicken Bastille offered a nice, savory flavor perfectly paired with a sweet dusting of powdered sugar. I had a nice pot of mint tea to finish the meal.

Small menu, but things are done right! Watch our YouTube review of Pasha Land here: youtube.com/watch?v=pUlX… Great, intimate ambiance in Kentlands. Humus good - pita was more like pita chips than bread. Ordered the Marinated Chicken with veggies and salad, and the Gyro sandwich with fries. Also had the Pasha juice which was fresh and highly recommended. The marinated chicken was the highlight - tender, juicy, flavorful. Gyro was better than most, and sauce was awesome. Could've done without the fries. Appetizer, salad, one juice, and two entrees came to $34. Great price, authentic food.

(4.5) A while back My husband and I visited Pasha's for the first time and loved it! We wanted to find a place that had Bastilles and/or Moraccan food and stumbled on the yelp reviews... I'm so glad we went here! The Bastille was relish and the hummus was yummy. My chianti was tastey as well. What made our evening though was the excellent live ,music and belly dancing! What a neat little place! After the live music the guy came over rand talked to us and called the owner over & introduced us! We will be going back soon... probably next time ready to dance!! Updated: we've gone back a couple of times now (even brought friends) and have enjoyed each experience.

I love this place. The atmosphere is absolutely perfect. It is a small restaurant in the middle of the Kentlands. The deco inside is so nice. It feels like you are in another world when you walk into Pasha Land. And then the food.... the food is so amazing. I love love the chicken bastilla. That is probably the best thing on the menu. I've had it at other places but it this is the best! And then there is the hummus with the amazing olives. Everything is so fresh. For the entrees you really can't go wrong with any of them. The spicy chicken is so flavorful and intense. They also have chicken with dates and raisins that's really good and the lemon chicken is really unique. Any of the lamb dishes will be good choices too. I really don't feel like you can go wrong. Try the Moroccan mint tea! And don't forget the baklava! I am just a huge fan of everything at Pasha Land!

Living in the suburbs of DC , but tired of having to drive into the Nation's Capital to find dinning worthy of the trip? Look no farther. Whether you're a novice or regular to Moroccan fare, Pasha Lounge in the Kentlands, has a menu that has something for everyone, which after the first bite, will melt your palette and win your heart. The menu is not over-encumbered or complicated, but unique enough that it makes the experience fun. If you're not the adventurous type when it comes to picking from a menu that's foreign to you, fear not! They have a section of pre-picked combinations which take you from the appetizers to desserts, including their delicious after-dinner hot sweet tea. Vegan? No problem according to our friendly waiter Eddie, as the chef will prepare dishes to order for those who are vegetarian, regardless of how strict. If all the stellar reviews from others and various publications aren't enough to sway you, then just peek into Pasha Lounge's window. You know a restaurant is good when it's full of people from the culture the menu represents. The Sunday evening we attended, the majority of tables were married with Middle Easterners. The wine list features not only traditional selections, but also Moroccan, which kept the adventure of the palette fun while the prices reasonable. The ambience, as my wife correctly described it, is out of the Hollywood set of Casablanca. The bar is warm and intimate, as is the entire restaurant. The tables along the wall are paired with cozy and comfortable couches and stocked with pillows. The space is small, and popularity great, therefore, it's recommended you make reservations no later than Thursday for a Friday or Saturday night meal, which at 8PM weekends, features traditional belly dancing. If you're looking for something less hectic, weekday nights are perfect for walk-ins. We're serious foodies, and Pasha Lounge is as good as it gets. Enjoy!

We went for dinner this evening. What a treat! We had the chicken tagine, lamb with almonds and raisins and the seafood bastilla. All were yummy, but he best was the chicken tagine. I had Moroccan coffee after dinner. I think they need to open for coffee in the mornings! The live music was great. The place was packed! We were a bit early for the belly dancer. Next time I will make reservations and be certain to be there for the show. Definitely a Kentlands gem!

Saturday Dinner Review: I was very weary of trying this place based on the mixed reviews, but wanted to go ahead and give it a try. Complimentary bread was small buns topped with sesame seeds and toasted. The bread came with (what looked like stewed prunes) olives and the sauce tasted like the Cava version of Harissa. We ordered the Chicken Bastille (based on all the other yelp reviews) & Chicken Couscous. The Chicken Bastille was marinated chicken wrapped in a phyllo dough and sprinkled with powdered sugar and cinnamon. The chicken inside was slightly dry and I don't enjoy sweet tastes with a "salty dish." The chicken couscous was a marinated wing over a mountain of couscous (it's like rice or quinoa but they're version is seasoned) and very soft vegetables like carrots and squash. I think the seasonings were reminiscent of Indian-style cuisine and since I'm not a fan of heavy spices, I wasn't particularly impressed with the food. It was just ok to me. The menu did not have a huge selection and we walked out (at 2 people) having spent $40, which, considering we both ate a quarter of our plate, felt so dissatisfying. The service was ok when we went but I can see how people would be negatively impacted by the service...the hostess asked twice if we had reservations and seemed unhappy to seat us unreserved guests and the Owner only walked around to greet the couple of guests he knew. I mean, you go to a Morrocan Restaurant and expect fantastic service is like going to a Chinese restaurant expecting great service... -No, I have never had Morrocan food before. -Yes, on this particularly Saturday, they had belly dancing. -The place was pretty packed, nicely lit, and pretty loud with the local mom & pop band playing.

The other reviewers weren't wrong! The husband and I took my parents and his mom out to lunch here, and no one complained. I got the chicken with raisins and almonds and oh my god, was it good. Succulent, spicy, sugary, mmm. Everyone else got kebab and was thoroughly satisfied with their selection. For lunch, it's a pretty good deal...we spent under $100 for 5 people, even with hummus appetizer, which was homemande and was very very delicious. I was trying for baklava afterwards, but it just didn't fit. Service was also very, very friendly.

I am really glad that Batik was packed and we had to find food elsewhere in the G-burg. Going to Pasha was more interesting than hitting up an Ibiza nightclub in the height of tourist season. We arrived here on a rainy night and were quickly seated albeit in a very odd and cramped place. We were in very close proximity to the other couples beside us which irked me since I am not the type of person who likes cuddling with the person next to me as they consume their chicken bastilla. The staff was nice enough but service was very slow. I didn't mind though since this place is highly entertaining. I think part of the reason they take so long is because of their attention to detail. They know how to plate food properly and it comes out nice and hot. Shortly after we were seated I became instantly annoyed because the party behind us was the most raucous crowd of middle aged white woman found outside an Oprah set. They yelled and laughed for a good 15 minutes after we arrived. One woman had a laugh worse than a spider monkey screeching while rubbing his claws against a chalkboard. Seriously they were being so disruptive that they were gaining quite a few glares from the restaurant patrons. Then something magical happened. As if everyone's prayers (or in my case profanities) had been answered an elderly woman sauntered from the back of the kitchen with a flowing robe, black pair of sunglasses, and a scowl. She slowly made her way to to the table that was making the noise and beckoned one of the woman to listen to her. She said a few words and then magically the table was quiet for the rest of the night. I have no idea what she said but she needs to follow up the book "Go the F*** to Sleep" with "Shut the F*** up While Eating". The fun times didn't end there. The whole time we were waiting for our food I was watching a woman in belly dancer attire making her way around the restaurant with crutches. I knew they advertised belly dancing here but I didn't expect this lady to be the one performing. She also disappeared into the kitchen area and emerged a few minutes later sans the crutches and ready to dance. Between the wicked awesome grandma, great food, and regenerative belly dancer Pasha's kitchen could turn into the next great HBO series. Now on to the food. We had the Humi-Chick which was very good. It was hummus topped with shredded house chicken. Pita bread was just ok. I had the Kefta which was the best thing we ate that night. The meatballs were nice and flavorful and the tomato sauce was delicious (I wish I could replicate it). The rice wasn't as good as other places I have been. The sig-o had the Merguez which wasn't quite as unique as the Kefta but worth getting. I am excited this place is within walking distance of our house. Food: 4/5 Service: 3/5 STFU Grandma: 5/5 Thanks for giving me an awesome meal and entertaining time Pasha! I will be back.
