My fiance and I came here for breakfast a couple weeks ago. This place is a lot smaller than other locations I've visited (I'm sure rent isn't cheap here in Crown). I highly recommend the mushroom soup and the tomato bisque. Although quite expensive but it's worry every penny. It costs about $5 for a bowl. I had the Country French Breakfast with bacon. It was pretty good but I wasn't much of a fan of the croissant and you would think at the least they would nail the croissant. I prefer Costco croissants over theirs. My fiance got the Parisien Eggs Benedict and he said the hollandaise sauce didn't taste right and he would not get this dish again.

SATURDAY BREAKFAST SERVICE REVIEW: As new eateries are popping up in the Crown development every month, today was when La Madeline had its turn prior to a film viewing at the Rio AMC Theaters. The largest gripe on existing reviews is the wait time for food delivery. This was not a problem at all for us, as we received both of our orders in less than 10 minutes, and the establishment was 50% populated. Upon walking in, the ambiance is much different from the Virginia locations, as this one is brighter and more welcoming, similar to the Corner Bakery Cafe chain. Similar to a Panera Bread, they have a separate ordering counter for hot drinks/pastries and for made-to-order items. The display case with the pastries is well presented, and includes bite size items as well as whole cakes/pies/tarts to take to-go. Laminated menus are provided at the entrance, but were noticed to have stains on them, which leaves a tad to be desired. At the ordering counter, the service rep was friendly and informative. Coffee orders are handled by providing empty coffee mugs as it is self-serve. You are directed to the coffee bar, which has a Decaf Option, Bold Dark Roast, and a Medium Roast. The only trouble is all of the carafes were empty except for Decaf. With a staff of at least 6 employees on shift, you would expect for the coffee to be more of a priority. There was even one staff member sitting at a table still wearing a winter coat who was taking trays, but maybe she wasn't feeling 100% . Tables all appeared to be cleaned, and they have a GPS pager (non-vibrating) for the food runners to find your location. We both had 3 ingredient omelets (One w/ Egg Whites) and were both pleased. The omelets were flat and small by chain breakfast eatery standards, but the freshness really came through and was a quality start to the day. A butter croissant is the side for the regular egg omelet, with a quarter of a baguette accompanying the egg-white omelet. There was no spread offerings for the breads from what I could see, but they were both fresh and buttery enough to eat on their own. The Potato Gallette is more on the onion flavor side, which I enjoyed but not so much for my breakfast mate. One small pet peeve that was had is none of the Tabasco bottles were even half full, but on the bright side, they did have Tabasco. A strange experience in terms of just little things not adding up, but the food quality was strong enough for a return visit in the near future.

A lovely meal! I came with my dad and stepmom for our weekly Monday night dinner. We had to force our eyes off of the wonderful looking desserts before our eyes upon entrance. I thought the "bon soir"s were endearing, but I was afraid that they wouldn't understand if I responded with anything else. Anyway, on to what really matters: the food! I got a chicken crêpe with pesto sauce. I don't know what the other reviews were talking about, but our food came pretty quickly. And it was GOOD. The presentation was beautiful. Everything tasted just right and melted in my mouth. After my meal, I remembered the irresistible looking pastries and ordered a chocolate raspberry torte (sa-something). It was nice and decadent and ended my meal perfectly. I definitely need to come back here!

This location is super small for the crowds that are expected here during the lunch time. As a result, "order and find a table" model fails miserably, and since it is cold , the plentiful outside seating is of no help. Ordering is very cumbersome: 1. the menu is not laid out well to understand all the options 2. The servers bring just the food, but no one tells you to grab utensils after the order. 3. If there is no seating available, it would be great to know that at the time of the order, as that would determine if I get things to go or for stay. My experience was a minor disaster, and I spent over 30 minuted waiting for my food to arrive, yet bringing this up with the wait staff twice was of no help - I had to go back to the cashier only to discover that they packaged it to go. Instead of making it from scratch, they dumped the food on the plate and tried to serve it to me. We did get a consolation prize of free dessert, but I'd rather had my food on time and had a place to sit. Lastly, please loose the fake french accent - it's tacky.

So I was going to split a meal with my friend. She orders the meal and I ordered the Chardonnay. The cashier looks confused and I just say the white wine and she tries to correct me that it is called Madeline. But on the board all 3 wines there are called Madeline. There is only 3 wines on the menu and you don't know them at all. And there is only one white wine. I let it go but then she rudely reminds me that I didn't ordered any food and I told her I was sharing with my friend that just ordered. Oh and the white wine was room temperature. So we get our food but we have to wait 15 minutes to ask for utensils. The food was good but the service there was pretty bad....it sucks that the one in Rockville closed down and this is the closet one now.

I am a big fan of La Madeleine and was sad that the Rockville location closed. Once I found out about the new Gaithersburg location I headed over the first chance I got. Sitting here now, I have been waiting about an hour for my order (soup & salad). I finally flagged down one of the workers delivering food orders to tables around me asking about my food. I explained that people who ordered after me had received their food already. She gladly looked into things and brought my bowl of piping hot soup and said the salad was coming. About 10 min later, soup mostly consumed, my salad arrived. The worker apologized about the wait, which was kind of her. I would say, unless you are coming during non-meal hours, be prepared to wait. I wish I had heeded other reviewers warnings. In addition, the area in the back of the restaurant was constantly out of silver ware, plates, and the free bread. Maybe they just need to be better staffed? But the service seems consistent, given other reviews. Location: it is a lot smaller than most other locations I have been to, and definitely doesn't have the same vibe. It's just "eh." The food is good and what I expected, but unfortunately that doesn't make up for the overall experience. There are so many other options in this part of Gaithersburg. If they don't get their act together I can't imagine them staying in business for very long.

Second time coming and honestly I love this chain but this particular location is quickly changing my mind. Both times I came here coffee was not hot or not there. Soup was cold first time they had to reheat it. And la Madeline wastes so much plastic. Going to panera next time.

This Downtown Crown location is not large, but does have a good amount of sitting both inside and out. Like most La Madeleine's this location has a cozy fireplace. It's even on in the summer occasionally. Sitting at a table close to the fire allows you the opportunity to warm up if you find the air conditioning a bit much. I love the cappuccino here. Frequently ordering it in the double size and asking that they add whipped cream on top. You can also ask for cinnamon on top. Yum! I have tried the muesli with strawberries (nothing special, basically cereal with fresh cut strawberries, but still good for a light breakfast), oatmeal with blueberries and almonds (you can select two toppings), and the Crepé Romanoff. The Crepé has strawberries, a sauce (I'm guessing vanilla) and cinnamon. It's okay. Not sure if I'll order it again. I mostly come for the cappuccino. The tables outside are nice, close to a fountain, however, they are mostly in the sun. Best for earlier in the day or evening.

This is my first time eating here and my whole table was disappointed. Very disorganized, no room, and the food was not good. My eggs were very undercooked. Myself and another at my table ordered the same thing and both dishes looked totally different. Will not be returning.

Was there on a Sunday morning with my wife. I was at their Rockville location many times before it closed. Don't order anything that has to come from the kitchen. I ordered a coffee and a croissant. That was ready right away. There was almost no half and half for my first coffee, 20 minutes later there was neither half and half or milk for my second cup. My wife ordered a croissant sandwich from the kitchen. It took over 25 minutes to come out, and only after we made the cashiers check on it. The manager just insisted that they were busy and food was coming out in turn. It wasn't. People who didn't even enter the restaurant until after we had ordered and sat down got their food first. This was a busy, but not ridiculous morning. There were some empty tables, and no line at the cashier. My advice is don't order anything that isn't already prepared.

You refused to cook my egg sunnyside up. Why bother asking me how I want my eggs cooked, if you you're going to reply "we don't do that...only over easy." If you can cook it over easy, you can do it sunnyside up! Even though you wouldn't cook my food the way I wanted it, it still tasted OK... But it would have been more enjoyable if the dining room wasn't so cramped. I literally had to move my table so the folks could squeeze in to sit at the table next to me. Edit: this is for the Kingstowne location, but stupid Yelp won't let me edit the location or delete the review.

So glad they are finally open. Unfortunately it is not as great as the former rockville location. Tight. Crowded. Loud!!! No more line and the salads were not fresh! I would never serve fruit with obvious imperfections like I had today!

So glad they are open. Happy helpful staff. Really miss the warm faux French character of other locations. Clean white sterile cafeteria style feel. Miss the real French speaking staff and we have lots in the Gaithersburg area. Nothing of the charm and interesting environs of the old Rockville location, but I miss the water wheel there too. Food was still good, just not a place to stay too long.

Food is great. Always consistent. Expectations are always met. Their pastries are some of the best in the area. 1 star subtracted for service, which could be a little faster.

Got here on a Sunday morning about 10:00am for breakfast. Very crowded... We have a party of three so knew it was gonna be backed up. We were in a hurry so we didn't order that much. 3 cups of coffees, egg Benedict, potato pancake and a crossant. They took our order and it took 30 minutes for this to arrive. Since the person at the register never bother to tell us coffee is self served, it took us 10 minutes to even get our coffees. The croissant is served cold. I asked it to be toasted.. It was another 20 minutes before I saw it again. While we were sitting also saw manager apologizing to other costumers for time and misplaced orders. Our waiter came with our food but literally just stood there at another table for another waitress to finish talking to other costumers to get out of way, whereas an "excuse me " would have solved this in a few secs. The food is ok.waiters are friendly but service horrible and slow. It's a new place and they are still figuring it out but I would say if you are not into frustration and like to get your food on time... Go somewhere else.
