4.5 stars! I've ordered dinner delivery twice here and have been pleased with their food and service. Would give a five but the delivery does take longer than usual however no huge complaints because the food makes up for it. Hot and sour soup - delicious! Tried at many nearby restaurants and this location has it just how I like it. Not watery, lots of tofu and pipping hot General tso chicken - as others mentioned they use white meat which is why it's a higher priced item on the menu. Taste wise it was sweet and barely spicy (which is great for my toddler she loves it!) and my husband likes it too which is surprising as he's a super picky eater Pad Thai chicken - only I liked this dish. Sprouts are cooked with it so that's a plus. It tastes more tomatoe-y than other places. The noodles are a little softer than other places. Peking duck - yes yes yes. after trying numerous local restaurants Peking duck, we've finally found our fix! At first we were upset thinking they forgot the sauce. We thought they gave us soy sauce because it was soooo watery but it just turned out their "hoisin" is on the thin side. Regardless we ate every last drop. Very satisfied and will definitely get it again.

I decided to try this restaurant after reading raving reviews and I wasn't impressed. We ordered For dinner: orange chicken, sesame chicken, General Tso, friend rice and beef egg rolls. The quality of the chicken was great but very dry. Delivery was 30-40 minutes. I live 3 minutes away from the location. The dinner menu is al a carte which I wasnt aware of until I was quoted my total$40. I'll stick to Mickys! I love there food, delivery and prices. Not to mention consistency every time!

I've not eaten Chinese food in awhile so I was excited to order from here when I read the reviews. Well I was super disappointed when I started eating the food. The chicken was so salty and the fried rice looked like white rice with what I'm assuming was alittle bit of brown sauce. Whatever the case I kept trying to eat it because I was hungry but I couldn't. Even though I was disappointed I believe they had some good qualities too.. The presentation was neat and the lady who answered the phone to take my order was also nice.

This was not really a fair test as I ordered "off the menu", choosing an item they did not "have"; Beef in black bean sauce chow fun (big wide flat rice noodles). Tender beef slices, carrots, zucchini, cabbage and onion all mixed in black bean sauce and chow fun. It was good but not great. Needed more black bean paste/salty flavor to be really good. This place is BUSY, lots of take out orders. Free hot tea and regular water too, which I like. Good prices. I'll eat here again next time I am in the area.

My son and I have a bi-weekly tradition that has been going on for 3 years now; great Chinese and a good movie. We moved to the area and had a hard time finding a restaurant that we would say we would order again from. No pulling out the menu; they are on speed dial! Ridiculously good food; made to order.

I treat myself to take out here every now and then. The portions are good and the meals are consistent. I've ordered a lot of Chinese and some have very fatty meats, but don't have that problem here. I also like the fact that have different stuff like Thai curry. Some items are not on their online web site.

This is the worst Chinese restaurant that I have been. They don't even care to make the food look good, and much less to make the food taste good. They even served the food in cheap disposable plates. Terrible place!!!

4 stars for personal bias. Good Chinese food friendly staff.. I play pool next door so it's convenient. Better than most places I've tried. If you want Chinese food in Gaithersburg Germantown area I recommend you stop by here

Excellent Chinese Food! Traveled from Seattle to DC for a vacation and ordered some Chinese food to my hotel room after a 900 mile drive and an overnight in the car. Wow, it was really awesome! It came warm, with forks, and with plates. We got fried rice, lo mein, and sweet & sour chicken. it was all very good. We have a family of 5 people and we will have plenty of left overs for lunch tomorrow. $40 for 2 days worth of food, could even be 3 days, is a good deal for a family of 5! Service was quick and within an hour we had food!

BEST CHICKEN FRIED RICE... EVER!!! This is what I call my HAPPY PLACE :) . The staff is always super friendly and understanding. I've never had a problem with them or their food. It has always been on point!! I recommend this place to everybody because they have NO MSG and use FRESH vegetables. Their prices are reasonable and the food always come out hot and ready at the time that they tell me. Not to mention they deliver!! There is no place like Hunan Cafe, I wish I could give them 100 stars!!

Got the lemon chicken with fried rice delivered. Rice was pretty good but didn't have all the things that normally come In fried rice- it was just brown rice. But that's okay, it was still good. However, I was sad that we got 3 packets of soy sauce and no duck sauce or mustard sauce. I like to use all three, and feel they are staples. The lemon chicken was just bad. Super dry and chewy and tasted like lime. There were limes in the chicken. That's not lemon.

I have driven by this place so many times but never stopped nor even noticed this hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant. Situated in a little strip mall next to a sports bar, a nail salon, a comic book store and an empty storefront where the police substation used to be located. Plenty of parking and an extremely friendly staff. Lucky for me, I was looking for a new Chinese restaurant to review! It is one of those places where you order at the register and they bring the food out to your table. Only disposable plates, cups and utensils but large servings and affordable prices! Traditional Chinese food and some Thai dishes but Hunan Cafe does not use MSG and specializes in "Healthy" cuisine by steaming dishes, offering brown rice ($1 upcharge) and boast all of their dishes can be made Vegan...an excellent choice for my discerning group! Walked in at 8pm on a Friday and the small restaurant (9 tables) was half full and minutes after we ordered, all the tables filled up and the restaurant kept up even though they were busy with carry out and deliver orders. One of my friends is from Boston and grew up with what he calls "Polynesian" Chinese food. As my Grandpa had a Chinese restaurant, I knew exactly what he wanted was a PuPu Platter. Here it came with 2 beef strips, 2 fried wontons, 2 fried shrimps butterflied, 2 BBQ (Cantonese style) spareribs and 2 eggrolls for $9. He was a happy camper. Friend two is vegan. The owner told me they had all the "fake" meats they could use in any dish but I knew she would prefer the fried tofu with veggies in a brown sauce for $8.50. Bean curd Family Style came with broccoli that was perfectly al dente, snow peas, mushrooms, carrots and water-chestnuts. I tried the tofu which was soft inside and you could feel the slight crunch of the tofu under the sauce. I knew she was going to love the dish but I had no idea she would finish off the whole thing AND the generous bowl of brown rice. It was not a little bowl with a scoop of rice...I would guess it was 1.5 cups. She stated that it wasn't greasy at all. Happy Camper #2. Friend three remembers the pan fried noodle dish from last Christmas' dinner party and I told her that the Chef's specialty #126 with the same name had to be the same dish ($12). I was wrong. They pan fried lo mein noodles which were super crunchy and difficult to cut until the brown sauce soften them up. We kept the beef and chicken and 86'ed the shrimp. The broccoli was tender and obviously fresh as it was bright green. Carrots and mushrooms rounded out the veggies. I was told that next time there were even skinnier noodles and I should specifically ask for them. I was surprised that the noodle dish came with a bowl of white rice but it did not go to waste. We are now 3 happy campers out of 3. I decided to pick a dish that my carnivore friends would eat in case the dishes I picked for them did not go over well with the picky eaters. Turns out, I had nothing to worry about (Go Connie!!!) because they enjoyed their food AND America's favorite General Tso's Chicken. As Hunan Cafe only uses white meat for this and their sesame and orange chicken dishes, it runs $10.50. Well worth the price. A very generous plate of sweet chicken with a ring of steamed broccoli around it. A second bowl of white rice and I am over the moon because 4 adults ate with even some leftovers for less than $39 before tax. There are lunch specials from 11am to 3pm and they come with rice and an egg roll for less than $7. You can buy soda by the can but they offer all the hot tea or cold water you can drink. Pictures on the wall depict the different dishes. You get your own drinks and there are zero frills with the paper napkins. If you want to be pampered this is not the place. If you want to be served generous portions and walk out with money left in your pocket, I urge you to give Hunan Cafe a try. I know I will definitely be back and will bring my Parents who are self-professed Chinese food snobs.

I was super excited and had very high expectations after reading all the reviews on yelp. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. My rating is probably a little harsh, the food wasn't terrible, but definitely not as amazing as all the reviews suggest

4/5 stars. Very good place for quick, tasty, inexpensive Chinese delivery (along with a few Thai entrees as well). Normally, my husband and I only ever order from Mr. K's in Germantown, but it is a bit pricey, so we decided to try a new place. We used to order cheap delivery from Tai Shan, but they changed management a few years ago and the food has been terrible since. So after looking up reviews on yelp, I came to the conclusion that Hunan Café is where we need to order from. I called to order a hot and sour soup, beef with mixed vegetables and brown rice, and, for my husband, pad thai. The woman who answered the phone and took my order was very friendly and extremely accurate. I was impressed by the ease of ordering the food! I'm not sure how long it took, it wasn't long. The food was very good. In particular, the little crunchy things that go in the soup were so freaking good. I'm not sure what they're called, but they were fabulous. My beef with mixed vegetables was delicious, lots of beef and vegetables (obviously..... hehe). Paired with the slightly crunchy brown rice, it was really good. I didn't try any of my husband's pad thai, but he said it was "pretty damn good." I'm really very pleased with this place and so glad I decided to try it instead of just paying the extra for Mr. K's. Highly recommended!

I had a friend visiting from out of town last night and decided I'd bring take out over to her hotel for the two of us. I got on Yelp (of course) and searched to find a new Chinese place... I moved to the area in June and have tried several and have been less than impressed with them all. FINALLY. I found the one! The food was absolutely delicious, the restaurant was very clean, very friendly staff, and very affordable! I had called ahead and ordered the Chicken Fried Rice, Shrimp Fried Rice, and two egg rolls. It was hot and ready when I arrived. I was able to get both meals and egg rolls plus a bottle of water for under $20!

BEST in Gaithersburg hands down and surrounding area. Everything is truly fresh and each and every dish is literally a winner. The few Thai dishes are tasty too!!!!! Jessica the main phone counter lady is fantastic and very friendly and well known to regulars. Their white meat dishes are made with REAL quality white meat. I've had delivery too and the drivers are quick and friendly. Just look at the many pics and it is truly hard to decide on a winner!!!!

Absolutely terrible. It was really bad. It lacked flavor. I'm continuing the hunt for a good Chinese delivery place.

Just moved to the area and finding a Chinese spot was #1 on our list. We just happened to move around the corner fromt eh best one ever!!!! So far we have had the General Tso's Chicken, Orange Chicken, Singapore Noodles, Chicken Fried Rice, everything is good! The kitchen is open so you can see everything, it is very clean and everything is amazingly good! They only use white meat, even when I get the orange chicken it is not over breaded. Also they do not use those baby shrimp they use med-large shrimp. I wish they had actual egg rolls they have more of the spring roll. We eat there maybe once a week! They have a small area where you can sit and there is a tv as well but it is not a dine in resturant really I think there are about 8 tables. Dinner is from $9.50-10.50 a meal. I will upload a picture

Best value in the area. Clean, inexpensive, trustworthy and consistent. The food gets 4 stars and the cost and other stuff gets 6 so 5 is the average. Highly recommended for cheap good eats at a friendly neighborhood place you can trust.

Being from New York and having traveled the world, I've had some pretty good Chinese food. However, I haven't been able to find any decent ones on MoCo...until now. The food is fresh, made correctly, and very flavorful. The staff are very friendly and patient. I highly recommend this place. I would rate it four stars but again, I've traveled the world and have had amazing take out.

This place is one of my go-tos for Chinese in the Montgomery Village Area. Always has a fresh taste. Delivery time and take-out time is fast usually within 30 min or less. They have never forgotten food or overcharged me. They're combination fried rice (which just about everyone gets) is good. Full of flavor and doesn't skimp on the meats. Orange Chicken is also great. WAY better than Mickey's.

Fast and friendly service. Absolutely the best Chinese (Americanized) food I've ever had. I found this place out of pure convenience one evening, and now compare every other Chinese restaurant to it-now my "go to". Specifically, I order General Tso's chicken and Shrimp lo-mein. They use all white meat chicken in their dishes, and de-vein their shrimp (important personal preference). Their vegetables in these dishes are always fresh, abundant (in comparison), and still have a snap (texture also important).

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
