There's some gems and good deals on the menu. Pinto beans are top notch. I think someone's Abuela must be chained to the stove cookin' 'em. They're worth a stop in. Also good margos and the shrimp I had last time grilled up. Yum. Friday night's fun. Music, families, little kids dancing with their moms. And futbol on the teevee.

How do you screw up tortilla chips? Even my seven year old commented on the bad quality. It's also kind of expensive. Try to avoid this place. Ambience is awful too.

Good local dive bar/restaurant. Excellent margaritas, good fried plantains too. Mostly local flavor, but friendly.

Save your money and venture elsewhere! This place was such a disappointment I can't believe we actually ventured in to sit down. Upon arriving during lunchtime the entire restaurant was dark with the TV blaring in Spanish and a single server focused on her computer and not a single soul in the restaurant. That should have been a sign for us but my friend had driven by and wanted to try this restaurant for quite some time. We asked the server if the restaurant was open and she nodded. There was a sign with lunch specials outside the front door which showed some decent prices and pictures. When asked about the lunch specials, the server told us those were only for "carryout" and did not apply if we ate in. When asked to see what the specials were....the server said she didn't have anything to tell us what the items were? Seriously? We ordered off their regular menu and the prices were HIGH. My friend ordered enchiladas with green tomatillo sauce and I ordered crispy beef tacos. As we waited for our food there was no silverware, no salt and pepper or anything on the tables or chips and salsa to nibble on. We also noted that not another person entered the restaurant the entire time we were there. Our food finally came out and it was shocking how bad it was. My friend's enchilada order had no green tomatillo sauce and the little cheese on the enchiladas was not even melted. The rice was cold and refried beans looked like brown mud. My crispy tacos came with tiny packaged taco shells you buy at the supermarket and looked like a child had assembled them carelessly. My rice was cold to the touch and the brown "mud" was also cold. I sent my order back and refrained from ordering anything else while my friend who was starving told the server about the enchiladas and she casually took the order back and returned with a plate with enchiladas and some green tomatillo sauce on them. My friend quickly downed the food so we could leave but was neither satisfied nor impressed at how mediocre the food was. Food, atmosphere and customer service at this restaurant need a complete overhaul. There are way too many choices to spend your hard earned money at and this place is not one of them.

Had worse and had much better. I was looking for a really good tamale. It was plain with no meat and kind of dry. The salsa was ok, but everything was very mediocre. The prices are good and the staff is very friendly. Apparently there is Karoke on Fri, Sat and Sun, but I'm sure its in Spanish. My friend had the enchiladas and was shocked at how much cheese there was baked on top. There is supposed to be cheese on top, but it was a bit too much. His refried beans were a mess; seemed pureed, no beans. Pretty darn authentic and in a Latino part of town. But I would compare their authenticity to say, my boyfriend cooking rice and beans from a box, to something finer like Rio Grande.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
