Wag's gets the trophy for the cheapest bar in town with $2.50 rail drinks (poured surprisingly stiff), and similarly cheap Yuengling on draft. Happy hour compounds the value with those prices cut in half, bringing prices mind-blowingly low. Simply put, $5-10 will REALLY set you straight if you show up between 4-7 on a weekday night. The only catch (if you can really call it that after saving so much money on booze), are the food prices. While the food is a perennial favorite for the "Best In Frederick" awards, prices have been climbing steadily for years. Expect to spend $8 on a burger about the size of a Mcdouble, $10 on hot roast beef sandwich, both served with a handful of chips (the famous fries can come close to doubling the price of a meal). The cheapest thing on the menu is a grilled cheese sandwich at $5, an item that I have ordered multiples of during extended visits over the years. Again, it's hard to complain about these slightly above average prices when alcohol is so close to free, but as someone who used to visit wags out of financial necessity, I have spent many nights drunkenly perusing this large menu hoping to see something to spend my remaining $4 on. All in all, Wag's is an institution, and a pub in its truest form. Wag's has seen many first dates, many last dates, many plans for world domination, and many many good times. I worry about global warming, I worry about the health of my loved ones, and I worry about Wag's staying in business.

This is definitely one of those places that is worth the drive just to grab a bite. I came here randomly on my first visit to Frederick Maryland, and have been coming here ever since. Candice, one of the hardest workers I've seen, takes excellent care and converses with you and still runs the floor with ease. And that chief....amazing!! It'll be a long while until I visit the Frederick again for work, so I'll have to go here again before I leave.

Came here with the boyfriend looking for a nice, but cheap early evening meal. We were told that we could pick our own table and sat down, where we were greeted by a very friendly waiter. Throughout our meal she was very prompt and clearly on the ball. Boyfriend ordered the roast beef ranch sandwich and I ordered the bacon cheeseburger. We ordered a large order of the fries to split. The food came out pretty quickly but was definitely cooked properly. The cheese on my burger was melted over the bacon, which is awesome because the cheese helped the bacon stay in place and not fall all over the table. The lettuce on this burger was pretty cool, it was like a finely shredded lettuce that I really enjoyed. Boyfriend really enjoyed his sandwich as well. The fries were delicious!!! They were like the boardwalk fries that you can get on the OC or Delaware boardwalk. They were a bit hot when we first got them, which is fine, except that you want these so badly because they smell amazing that you burn your tongue because you can't possibly let them wait a few minutes to cool. Next time I want to try the fries with cheese and/or bacon bits on them. For what you get, the food is pretty cheap too. Our order came out to be only $22 for two sandwiches and a large order of fries. Most of the items on the menu were priced very reasonable as well.

This is a nice place to grab a burger and a beer. They have a complete bar and some good happy hour specials. On your first visit, I would definitely order one of their burgers. If you decide to go with fries instead of chips, I would ask for their BBQ sauce as a condiment. It is great for dipping their fries in. I will definitely go back, since there are many things on the menu to try.

Excellent. Not much more to say. Happy hour .75 drafts and 2 for 1 rail drinks. Great place all around.

Wags reputation is definitely for their burgers, and it is not misplaced. Their reubens are also awesome. This isn't your place if you have a gluten allergy (can you get some gluten free bread please?)The place is kinda divey, and the happy hour is mucho cheapo. Overall, I just want them to get gf bread so I can enjoy eating there.

A little hole in the wall place in Frederick. It's tiny, dark, and delicious. It's a great place to grab a small dinner and a drink with a friend or date. I wouldn't suggest bringing a big group- you'll never fit. The grilled cheese was so good. And the fries. Mmm.

Best place in Frederick for a good, cheap happy hour. The burgers are usually great! I had a delicious medium rare burger last night. Last night was a little weird because our waitress asked me and my friend how we would like our burgers cooked but didn't ask my husband. He eats his burgers rare and coming from France he doesn't always think to ask specifically to have a burger rare or medium rare since that's the norm in France. Long story short, still a great place in Frederick to go on a Friday night. Dinner for 3 including 3 drinks each came to $40. Can't beat that :)

It's a nice, small joint to grab a burger and fries. Honestly, their burgers and fries remind me of the way Five Guys cook theirs' and it almost tastes exactly like Five Guys, too. The waitress was friendly and we got our meals within 5 minutes. Overall, fast and friendly service!

I think you have to be specifically looking for Wags to actually go there. I saw them on Yelp so, when we were downtown last week, we opted to pop in for lunch. Turns out we have passed this place numerous times without noticing it. I guess we just never looked down. It's very dark inside and definitely has the bar vibe. Their menu has pretty much any type of sandwich variation you could want. I went with the cheesesteak and got my son a basic ham and cheese wrap. I thought each was pretty good but was not digging the fries. They were light and not greasy at all, which was nice, but they were also lacking any real flavor and were almost spongy. Maybe the trick is to get a topping on them or something. Overall, I liked the ambiance and the staff was pleasant. I think this could prove to be a solid place to grab a quick sandwich, wrap or burger. They were decently busy for lunch on a Monday so I would say other people agree. We will be back in the near future to give some more menu items a try.

Anytime I'm in downtown Frederick I stop at Wags for a bowl of soup. Really hits the spot!

LOVE WAGS! Friday happy hours are 2 for 1; which means you get get a quick buzz and not break the bank. The drinks are decent, and service is great. A little hole in the wall place but if you are from Frederick, you love those places!

Came here again after a few months and the food was delicious as always. I am writing an update because I started off with a bowl of chili this time around, which in this fall weather, was perfect. It was hearty, filled with delicious kidney beans, chunks of ground beef, along with green peppers. You know it's good chili when there is barely any broth, and this was that exactly. We had ordered a small batch of those awesome boardwalk style fries and threw some in with the chili. I will definitely order the fries with chili on top from here on out because the combo was on point. I had a couple bites of my friend's Bacon Steakin' sub and wow is all I can say. Try it with some of the side potato chips on top and you have yourself an award winning bite, especially when the chips get a little soggy from the steak juice. I had the reuben which I liked because the bites were manageable. I have had my share of Reubens where it was like looking at a meat wall sandwiched in between two pieces of rye, it's just too much to be able to take a bite of and get all the perfect ratios of thousand island, sauerkraut, and corned beef. This sandwich was like they put it in a press to really merge all the delicious components together, and the bread was toasted to perfection. Wags is a gem, you must stop by!

Went to wags for dinner and drinks, definitely not disappointed! It was super packed and the restaurant is really small, but we grabbed a table as soon as someone left. I had the tuna salad sandwich and it was great. The only problem my friend had is that there are very few options if you don't eat red meat. He ended up with a grilled cheese and was still very happy. I recommend getting there early because it's always packed in there. Ordered a lot of the 75cent yuengling on draft during happy hour! Awesome deal!

Decided to stop in Frederick on our return trip home for some shopping and lunch. Found Wags on our walk and stopped in. So glad we did! I love the atmosphere, downstairs, dark and inviting. Menu options and specials make selections fun. Burgers ordered came quickly and done exactly as requested. Service is topnotch. Also, cannot beat the prices. As almost everyone else has mentioned, we will happily return on our next sojourn to Frederick.

I love this place! This is always my #1 recommendation for visiting friends/co-workers. Very local, great atmosphere, and I love how the staff will sass back ;) I always feel like I'm visiting a long-time friend or close family member when I come here. Can't wait to be back in Frederick just to come back here! My friends and I already established this is the place we're hitting on our first night back in town.

Stopped here for lunch on way to beach. It very much reminded me of the real Cheers in Boston. Tuna melt - wife gave it a thumbs up Wag Burger - good hand made patty - decent burger Chili - good (not great - my homemade is better - sorry) Fries - a must - fresh cut spuds were really good Cute town...well worth the stop

You know how people are always raving about some hole in the wall restaurant? Well, Wags is a hole in the floor. It's in a dark and dank basement that somehow comes off as local and charming. We had the Reuben burger and the Philly burger with some fries. The burgers were pretty good for a blue collar burger, nothing special about the soft untoasted white bun and chopped up lettuce. Heavier on the sauce, patty soft and juicy. The fries were incredibly underwhelming for a joint who boasts the best burgers in Frederick. What is a burger without fries, anyway? The fries were strangely dark colored, as if the frying oil was already burnt. On top of that they were soggy and not seasoned well. Limp potato soaked in grease. We doused in ketchup to satisfy our stomachs screaming for fried potato.

My wife and I went for lunch based on the Yelp reviews and we were not disappointed. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and opted for the fries. The fries were plentiful thank goodness because they were delicious. The burger was packed full of onions lettuce and mayo. Loved it! The meat was thinner than I normally get at a restaurant but it sure was tasty. The staff was super nice. And the place is not a dive. I thought it was great. I highly recommend.

Perfect, little, below ground, downtown, local hole in the wall. Very casual. Burgers, cheese fries, wraps, cheesesteaks, soups, all kinds of things. And a great wait staff! Bar too. Parking In the garage behind is so convenient. Heart of Downtown Frederick!

Great burgers. Went last night with 3 teenagers and not a bit of any burger was left. Huge bacon cheese fries.

My gyro was delicious. We ordered the "big batch" of fries and it was HUGE. I think it is enough for like 4-5 people. Dive bar. Nice people.

I was somewhat underwhelmed by Wags burger and fries. I had a chilli cheese burger, and I was hard pressed to find the chilli. I am used to CCB's looking like a sloppy joe on top of a patty, but not the one I had a Wags. The fries were so so as well. Too much salt was put on them before being served to me. I will probably give this place another try sometime in the future, but for now I consider it just average.

This is my go-to place in downtown Frederick for cheap beer and hot soup. Compared to the other restaurants here it is nothing special, but for the "hole-in-the-wall" bar experience this place can't be beat. There is only one beer on tap (Yuengling) and if you come between 4 and 7 Monday or Tuesday they're $0.75 a mug! The rest of the days have a 2 for 1 domestic beer happy hour. Also they always have chili and a soup of the day, neither of which have disappointed me yet (you may need to add some salt on occasion). They boast the "best burger in Frederick" but I don't see how that's possible. Don't get me wrong, they aren't bad... I would say they are exactly what you would expect from looking at this place. The crowd is typically the local working class and there is always a story to listen to, whether you want to hear it or not. This makes for an inviting atmosphere if you're going out for a drink alone, but may be distracting if you are with other people. I would (and frequently do) recommend this place to my friends that are coming to the area. Definitely worth checking out.

I feel a little biased giving Wag's a 5 Star after my first visit. However it is totally due to my complete obsessiveness of food places that I think can totally be featured on Diner's, Drive-In's and Dives! And this literal "Hole In The Wall" place deff deserves it. On a Monday evening, my adventurous palette and my boyfriend's anti-big chain restaurant taste led us here through Yelp... Good one, Yelper's I personally thank you all! We GPS'd our way through one-way streets downtown to end up in the garage and walked around the corner to Wags... Crazy to think of how many times in my past 10 years in Frederick have I passed by this place without giving it so much as a thought... Where have I been for the last ten years?!?! We walk down the quaint stairs into a dungeon-like corridor feeling almost like we had to be specially invited here because its so cozy and intimate. After an awkward 30 seconds of not knowing this place we seated ourselves and got served right away. Our waitress was super friendly, very consistent with all we asked for and filled our drinks quick (5 star service right there.) I ordered a Chili Cheese Burger and my boyfriend got the Philly Burger and a big batch of fries which ended up being TOO big along side our chips and burgers but yes, other Yelper's were right.. Fries so good, to ask for ketchup is almost a sin. My Chili Cheese Burger was OUT OF THIS WORLD GOOD... HOLY COW. The chili was literally PERFECT... I can't even describe it... You gotta go try it yourself to believe it!!!! My boyfriend loved his burger so much he compared it to the scene from Once Upon A Time In Mexico where the guy had to shoot every chef he had a great meal from to "give a sense of balance to things." LOL yes... That good. Will deff be one of my go-to spots and a place I reccomend to all my clients at work!

Came here for drinks. The bartenders are rude and pretend like you don't exist. The drinks are way too strong and poorly balanced. Not coming here again.

I had the bacon cheese burger with chili cheese fries. Like most of the reviews say the fries are hit or miss, I got a hit. Everything was great!! Yes, it's under ground and a little dark, but was very clean! I will be back the next time I'm in town.

Love their burgers and fries!! Service is sub-par.

  • Jason C.

Have been here twice and both times have been disappointed. First time the food seemed way to greasy. The second time I sat at the bar ordered a beer and waited at least 15mins after my beer was gone for the bartender to come back to us on a relatively slow night. Rather then get another beer and some food we got the check and probably won't be back.

I'm new to Frederick and my husband and I came across this place in downtown thanks to yelp! They have amazing hamburgers here! And the service is great! Our waitress was very consistent. Also a great atmosphere! We went on a Monday and they had a good amount of people at the bar so that tells you a lot about the place. It is just a great place to eat and to hang out.

This place is very dark and on the small side, however, they have an awesome patty melt and fries!

  • Alexi F.

Unimaginably rude. My friend left an 11.1% tip based on crappy service directly adjacent to the bar. Server hassled us, we complained to the bartender. They chased us out over $1.75. Insane. Never going back. Patronize if you want condescending, motherly advice about leaving appropriate tips.

Visited Wags after being recommended there by a local business owner. I had looked over photos of the sign so, I knew what to look for when trying to locate the restaurant and it was easy to find. The restaurant is fairly dark inside, but it wasn't loud or overcrowded when visiting. My husband and I went there on a Tuesday evening and we were delighted to find it was happy hour (4-7) and there were 75 cent drafts of Yingling. I ordered the Wags burger and he had a bacon cheeseburger. We both thought the burgers were fresh and we enjoyed the fries. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Great customer service! Overall, we will definitely be back again and we recommend this place to anyone in town who is looking for a local eatery, full of local characters and a pub type atmosphere.

Stopped by for a late lunch. Matt C's tip about the chili cheese burger convinced me. I had mine with cheddar and a pile of fries. Food was great, burger cooked perfectly, the fries reminded me of home made, just like I like them. It wasn't crowded and the service was great. The restaurant is in the basement and has kind of an old bar charm about it. I will be back, though I doubt if a cardiologist would recommend it.

Great lunch time spot in downtown. Hard to find but food is great! Gyro was great. They make their cucumber sauce on site.

Great dive basement bar with excellent burgers. This place is great to grab a cheap bite to eat- everything I have ever had there has been delicious- and they make great drinks. It is a great value. We always sit at the tables so I can't comment about the bartenders, but the table service is usually excellent. I wish they would upgrade their bathroom sinks because it is hard to wash your hands in the old time sink- the faucet is so close to the wall of the sink and the water is always freezing. Otherwise it is perfection!

    (4)
  • Andrew M.

Very straightforward menu - burgers, fries, subs. I got the ham and cheeseburger with a side of chili cheese fries. Very solid homemade chili, and it's refreshing to know and taste that they bake their own sub rolls in house. Pretty generic and mediocre beer selection. Small town ambiance with friendly and attentive service. Open late so I'd recommend this as a cheap, post-drinking soak up the booze meal with friends. Good but not great burgers.

Wag's is a tiny little dive in the basement that serves up great freshly ground beef(fresh ground daily) burgers. They are 1/4 lb patty burgers that are tender and juicy . Our burgers were cooked perfectly and the fixings were also very fresh. This place even has a signature condiment (Wag's sauce) .Also try the fries. Skin on crispy fries that are especially good with a dousing of malt vinegar. We also lucked out that they were offering 2 for 1 on domestic beers on Saturday 4-6. This place appears to be a local haunt frequented by regulars

all I can say is WOW! stopped in here during a bar crawl (before I started drinking ;) ) and got the most awesome bacon burger I've ever had in my life!! For a "dive" looking place- they have the best food! Our waitress was awesome, the prices were low and service was fast. I would definitely recommend this to my friends!

Love Wags and their BOGO drinks promo. It is 100% my favorite burger and they also have great fries. It has a lot of history and it's fun going somewhere that my dad used to go when he was younger.

This is the number one thing that I miss about living in Frederick. "Wag's Sauce" is a sort of pizza sauce that comes on the Wag Burger. It sounds simple- but it really isn't just that... it's amazing. I order extra for the fries too (which don't really need ANY sauce, because they're that good). It looks a little shady from the street, but the food and service are very good, and on the cheap.

When I first moved to Frederick, this was the place everyone told me I "had to go" for burgers. At first, I didn't really "get it." The burgers seemed good enough, but I wasn't blown away. But the more I've gone, the more I realize how great this place is. We went over the weekend and had some drinks, burgers, and fries. I just got the regular cheeseburger, but it was fantastic. The burger patties are somewhat thin, but they have a good flavor and I tend to like toppings as much as the meat itself, so I was alright with it. The fries were awesome. Actually, even before I fully appreciated this restaurant, I loved the fries. I recommend sprinkling them with some of the vinegar that's out on the table. And I had a couple Jack and Cokes that were fantastic; not that it takes much to mix two liquids together, but it was one of the best J&C's I've ever had (that's a weird thing to type). We'll be going back soon for the $.75 Yuengling drafts. That's got to be one of the best happy hour deals in Frederick.

  • Marie Z.

This place is in the basement, how good could it be? Don't let that fool you, this is a first class lunch spot. My favorite is the lil fat Jack and the fries. The wait staff is a little slow and sometimes it takes a while to find a seat but it is worth the wait. If you want to have some fun, go check out the bathroom. You will get it when you see them.

Basement Dive. Beer and burgers. Whats not to like? Small bar, dark atmosphere and was surprisingly full for a Saturday afternoon. The beer was reasonable. They dont have many on tap but Flying Dog is there in bottles. The burger was awesome!

  • Elisabeth H.

Tiny little dive-ish looking bar that has a great atmosphere. Drinks were great service was a little slow but the bartenders were hustling it just seemed that certain people did receive better service. Which is understandable as it seems like the type of place with regulars. The only thing we tried was an order of cheese fries with bacon and they were loaded! Fun place!

  • Dylan K.

I'm a big Wags fan. Is it a little divey with low ceilings in a basement? Yes. However, the bartenders are great, the owner is really great, and the drinks are cheap, good quality, and quick. I always go there from 10-12 on Fridays to get the 2 for 1 drinks, but I end up staying there for a while. If you want somewhere that doesnt suck like Old Towne, Canal, or Griffs, but is cheaper than Firestones, Brewers and The Cellar Door, come to Wags. The food is pretty solid too.

After reading all the reviews, I really went in to Wags with pretty high expectations, possibly too high. My first impression was that, while no one was actually smoking when we walked in, I couldn't help but think that this place had possibly hosted some chain smoker convention in the not too distant past. I have nothing against smokers, but the place could use aired out. My wife and I split the Wags burger and an order of fries. The burger was smaller than I expected, and I really didn't care for the wags sauce. It seemed very much out of place and in my opinion, took away from the burger. I have seen it described as a 'pizza sauce, but for a burger', and that's accurate to a point, it was tomato based, and possibly oregano, but it was hard to tell, as the flavor was very pungent and overwhelming. Had I not had the sauce, the burger would have been fine. Nothing special, but a decent average. The fries were a boardwalk style, and good. They would have been above average, however, they basically plate them in a heap, in a bowl so that after you have gotten past the top layer, the rest are soggy from condensation. Something that allowed better air circulation would help, because they were good. Overall the service was fine. I rate three stars because, while I didn't enjoy the was sauce, I don't feel it's something that would alienate everyone, just know its...potent. At least ours was. I would like to give some of the other items on he menu a try though before I went as far as to write the place off.

Burgers are decently priced(most are about $7) and taste pretty good. The Fries are not worth the price, especially given their taste. Come during happy hour and get $.75 Yuengling Draft. Friendly waitstaff. Decor is ok. Overall, good deal when you are in the mood for a burger. Would definitely recommend.

We went here with friends when passing through on a Saturday night. Luckily the wait for a table wasn't long (which is one of the reasons we went here with our toddler), but the wait for food was quite a while. The waitress was able to provide some crackers for our little one right away, which quelled the brewing storm.. But then once the food did come out? It turns out our compassionate waitress had somehow forgotten to put in the little one's grilled cheese order. Seriously? Luckily our daughter is big enough she was able to get by with some of our fries to start out. Speaking of the fries. They were pretty darn good. We got one big order for our table of four and a half to share, and they came out as a perfect appetizer just shortly before our burgers. All in all, it isn't somewhere we would've found if we weren't with locals, but it was a good time - glad there was someone to show us the way! Oh, and P.S.? Boys are Pointers and Girls are Setters, if you need to use the restroom...

One of my favorite burger joints. Love downstairs bar atmosphere and $0.75 Yuengling drafts mon & tues 4-7 is too good to pass up. The fries are also worth the trip. Boardwalk style. Great with vinegar (if you like that), with ketchup or straight out of the basket.

In my opinion, the best burger in Frederick, MD and in my top 5 of all time. Wags is a very unassuming place. It's on the basement floor of a building on Market St. in downtown Frederick (you have to walk down stairs to get to the front door). The dining room is very narrow and includes a roughly ten seat bar that only serves Yuengling lager on draft (as a Pennsylvanian this was wonderful) and a couple popular bottles. There are maybe 12 - 16 tables - not many - so it is consistently filled. This may bother many, but I personally find it cozy. Just grab a beer there or down the street and come back, no big deal. The food is top notch. The burgers are of a good size and cooked perfectly. Their roast beef and pork subs are also excellent and are slow roasted in house. I personally recommend the blue cheese on anything.. The fries are a favorite as well. Order a big batch and ask for their BBQ sauce...good stuff. Also, the wait staff are very friendly. It's nice to have a friendly conversation while having a meal - it creates a nice atmosphere. So if you want a very laid back, "local bar and restaurant" (which Maryland has little of), Wags is one of the best out there. Really, the burgers are some of the best in the area and eating there is much better than some of the stuffy places that are throughout Market St.

Nice, cozy little bar. Fries and chips were very good. The food looks great. I got the Philly Cheese Steak and was disappointed. It didnt have much flavor and I think the steak was cut too thick. This is too bad because the rest of the food was so good and the staff was so friendly.

My family and I went here for an early dinner. I am a Frederick native, but haven't lived here or been to Wags for several years. The service was great and we really liked our waitress. The fries were as good as I remember and they had a great beer special that was pointed out to me by the waitress. At this point we were having a good experience. My wife had the Wags Burger and I had a Patty Melt. We both felt the same way about our burgers, they were just OK... not bad, just not good. It is the only aspect where they fell flat, but the entree is a pretty important piece of these reviews. Add it all up and it was a pretty good experience. I would go back again for the atmosphere alone and I would recommend it to my friends.

I actually think Wag's deserves 4 stars...but glass half full im giving them 5. The food, without a doubt, is 5 stars. Best burger in Frederick and one of the best atmospheres. The only reason I would consider it lower is I would like to have a bit more beer tap selection. Dont get me wrong I like Yuengling but I like other beers as well. I'm a peacock Wags! you gotta let me fly! Service is also very good.

I go here almost every Friday for lunch and love it! I can't get enough! The staff there is always really friendly, and it has a warm cozy feeling. It's borderline dive, but still manages to be a great place to go. I came here with my girlfriend before our Valentines dinner, and it was awesome to have a few drinks here. If you are from out of town and want a place where the locals hang out for a beer and a burger, you've found the place.

My husband and I discovered this place only a year or two ago even though we have lived in Frederick for 10 years. We usually eat the same thing, but it is always delicious. The fries are not always the best, but when they are, they are awesome. Staff has always been friendly. Wait time for food is average. We try to avoid coming during happy hour because it is often really crowded and some of the guests can get really loud and rowdy. Even though we are young, we feel the space is just too small during happy hour when it is crowded. You get lots of food for the money. We will definitely visit again!

I have found my perfect burger! We moved from Austin and I've been bummed because we left Fran's and Sandy's behind, but this place is seriously amazing. I give their burgers 5 stars, but I really... really hate their fries, so I have to give them four stars. They gave us plenty, but they were kind of mushy and gross. I'll definitely go back for burgers, but I'll keep the chips instead of upgrading to the fries. :)

Phenomenal Hamburgers, great atmosphere, and a friendly staff. This is truly a great find. I highly recommend the Phili Burger.

The fries are super tasty, the burgers are alright, and, of course, there is plenty of beer. This isn't my favorite bar in Frederick, but you can have a nice standard beer and burger night here for a good price.

Great food at great prices. I just wish their french fries were as good as their burgers. Nice happy hour specials and daily food specials too. One of the best places for lunch around.

If you are looking for a burger joint, go here. Me and a group of friends go here for "Wag Burgers" and 2 for 1 domestic bottled beer special. We all go, have a burger with fries and 2for1 beers (yes, two bottles for the price of one!) for quite a few rounds. Its cheap, its delicious, its that hole in the wall gem just like you would see on DDD on food network. You walk down a set of steps into a small, long bar corridor, bar on the right, tables on the left, you think...wow a dive, great but once you get your hands on one of the burgers, you will be quite comfortable with yourself sitting there. The burgers are delicious, I like a bacon and bleu, and the drink special goes hand in hand with the meal, i believe it is on fridays. Give it a try for a cheap, fun night with friends, its worth it to start off a night in downtown frederick. The waiters are also very friendly, mine even bought me a special shot she wanted me to try, i was very thankful :)

First time out there was last night. Loved the small town atmosphere and of course, the Reuben Burger and fries! Pair it with a pitcher of Yuengling and you're good to go!

Had the "Porky the Dairy Bull" (steak and cheese with thin sliced ham) today. Almost sounded silly asking for it and fries....awesome Baby! Great deal for under $15 with ice tea and a tip!

Went here with the wife recently and loved it. We had cheeseburgers, beers, and a pile o' fries for about twenty bucks. Not bad if you ask me. It's even better now that there is no smoking. The place is dungeon'esque and the smoke really used to hang around. Not sure if I would bring the kids here for dinner though because it is also a full service bar. Even at 7:30 there were already a couple bleary eyed, stumbling, drunks, making repeated trips to the bathrooms (labeled pointers and setters) to empty beer filled bladders.

This is a little tiny place with lots of atmosphere. The burger are fantastic. We ordered fries and shared them because the portion is large. This place is really affordable too.

I only visited this place because of the reviews on Yelp. The place wasn't busy and the two servers were watching the TV at the bar. The service was passable but not great. Why wasn't it great? The TV viewing should not have kept them from serving us. We both ordered burgers with the fries as was suggested. The menu said "fresh kaiser roll". They were neither fresh nor Kaiser. It was nothing more than a crumbly old hamburger bunn, thelettuce was "shredded" and the tomato wasn't even local (we're from Jersey). The limp homemade fries were okay but nothing to write home about. A real Kaiser roll would have made all the difference in the world. In NJ we're used to 8 oz burgers for a much lower price on a real kaiser roll. This was a 4 oz burger. For two people including tip it cost us $40 and it was not a great experience. For all the many eating spots in Frederick I think one can do much better. A word to Wag's: Get some decent rolls and don't let customers sit waiting while staff is watching the TV.

Wags is a cramped little bar/restaurant, but they have the best french fries. And the tuna melt is certainly passable. But the real standout is the fries. It ain't fancy, but as long as you aren't looking for that, I'd give it 5 stars.
