First time ordering the other night, and the food really wasn't bad at all. Neither was the delivery wait. Not sure about customer service as I ordered online through yelp, but our orders were made correctly and were impressively delicious from what I was expecting. Not the best take-out I've had, though. I got the kung pao chicken which the chicken was amazing, however they put more celery in there than anything. a few chuncks of chicken, an entire bowl with cut up celery, and a few peanuts splashed on top. I'd try again to see the consistency with how it's made, but I feel like if I wanted a bowl of celery (with chicken and a peanut) I would've asked for it, you know? My friends seemed to enjoy her meatball sub but for the price, it's still a little questionable to me.

Food is ok, not the best and I'd suggest looking elsewhere. Management could truly care less about any mistakes they make with your order.

This place used to be good. I ordered a 12 inch steak and cheese sub. It cost $10.16 and didn't even come with fries. Plus, a quarter of the sandwich didn't even have meat or cheese in it! It was just bare bun. I won't go back again.

The exact name of this fine Chinese take-out restaurant, as listed on the shop's outdoor sign and also on their menu for at least the past 8 years, is Charley's Restaurant (Chinese and American), and it offers both eat-in and take-out food. And the restaurant is indeed located at 703 Motter Ave. as listed above. In my estimation, this is by far the best Chinese restaurant in the Frederick MD area. The food quality is unbeatable, and best and most important to me, they do not use much MSG at all in their food, unlike almost every other Chinese restaurant in the area. The also do not over-salt their food; this is important as well. One of the owners (an older Chinese woman) has told me in conversation that they make pretty much all of their sauces, gravies and stock on premises from natural sources such as chicken bones, etc. The service at the counter (I usually order take-out) is friendly, although once in a while you may encounter a minor and momentary commmunications snafu due to the language barrier (all of the front counter staff are Chinese), but this is never insurmountable.

Worst customer service ever. Dude at the counter obviously has issues. Asked if i could pay a little extra to get a bottle of grape soda with my meal (ordered a sub with fries and a free can of soda), but dude says no in a rude manner and insists that i have to purchase at full price. I asked if he could simply upcharge me for the bottle instead of the free can of soda and he says no adamantly. Not sure if its because hes racist, but he had rings on every single one of his fingers. I wouldnt trust him with my food. He didnt even give me a receipt, and gives me only $2.00 back when my change was $2.05. He hesitantly gave me a receipt after i asked him for it. This was the first time ordering here and itll definitely be the last time.

They can not deliver on post! They will call you and try to set up on off post meet up, or else try to get you to call grubhub and cancel the order. They obviously don't care about customers. After this order is completed i'll never order from them again

Better than your average carry out. I always order the steak & cheese sub so that's all I can comment on. Not the best cheese steak but its the best from a Chinese joint that delivers. (Double wammy.) One star off because they never separate the fries from the sub so the fries are in edible due to soggy-ness. Good cheap food.

Don't let the outside fool you. Best chinese carryout/delivery food place in town, hands down! I've tried them all and none have as consistently good tasting Chinese food. Another rarity amongst Chinese places is that everything here tastes unique to what it is supposed to be and not like the same sauce rehashed over and over. For one they actually put a little heat into dishes that are supposed to have it, imagine that!! Of course for those that like it you can ask them to kick it up notch and they will gladly oblige. Good steak and cheese too...

I LOVE this place. Delivery may take forever but it is well worth the wait. I have never been disappointed by this place. The food is incredible and so are the prices. Complain all you want, but it will never change my mind about this place.

I can't speak for delivery, but have been taking home carry-out weekly fro, Charlie's for over five years now and have never had a complaint with them. The selection is good, the staff polite, and quality top notch. I'm not sure what's going on with the other commenters, but in all the years I have been ordering from there, I have never had a single issue, neither doesn't appear from any of my co-workers who order regularly either. Aside from the area of town the shop is located, and the horrible parking, I have no complaints about Charlie's. Well, there is one. the menu is almost too large. IT takes forever to decide. I usually get orange chicken or General Tso's during lunch. They tend to get ordered with a side of crab rangoons. Other meals include steak and cheese subs or fish and chips. All are top notch and have no complaints about any of these menu items.

I've been looking everywhere for a Chinese-American Carryout in Frederick. Coming from Baltimore I was on the lookout. I found this place, well they mailed me their menu. Chicken wings w rice/fries are the best thing. I've also had their Cheese Steak sub which is pretty good as well. Service is not the best. On one occasion I called for a pick up/carry out and they didn't even tell me how much it would be, just that it would take 10 minutes and hung up on me before I could even ask them the total amount. I got there and the front desk guy was in the dining area with a customer and i had to stand there by the counter for about 2 minutes before he actually came up to see what I needed. While the service is terrible, the food is actually pretty good. So I'd come back but only for carry out. Haven't tried the delivery yet. I have eaten inside the diner, not really nice but not over the top dangerous either.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
