I bought a bushel of #2 crabs from Cameron's because they had competitive prices. I was never told they were mixed males and females and didn't realize this until I was home. When you call the store asking for bushel prices, they don't tell you they are mixed.

The owner is kinda a jerk. I don't think he means to be, but he is always very short with me and other customers. The food is awesome and priced well, I'd give this 5 stars if the service was better.

I thought this place is what I thought it would be. What was I thinking? I thought they have huge selections of fishes. But where is it? It's more like salmons and shrimps. That's it. Forget it. I would take a trip to DC and find real fish selections. So no this isn't the place to find many variety of fishes.

Seafood is fresh 9/10 visits. Sometimes I may catch them on their "new shipment" day.. Where they're awaiting the arrival of the amazingly fresh seafood I chance when I'm much more timely. Everything from shellfish, fish filets, whole fishes, lobsters, crab cakes, live male crabs, and even ceviche is served here. Considering this is Frederick and the freshness I agree with the price.. Fresh seafood can be cooked in house while you wait and contemplate... YUMMM sometimes the owner will even take part in negotiating if you try ;-) They also offer meal platters; fish & chips, fried oysters & clams, crab cakes, sandwiches, soups, and all sorts of sides for a reasonable price. Just delicious if you're craving fresh seafood in the area without having to pay outrageous dine in restaurants/crab shack prices.

This place seems to be the place to be on the weekend. We went in to see what it was all about and they have some great food. You can have the seafood cooked to order. This is definitely different and not to bad. The lobster bisque is really good. We tried the seafood sampler and it was great. They give you a lot of food. The fried shrimp seem to be fried a bit to hardddd but other then that everything else tasted gr8.

This placed satisfied a quick steamed crab craving. I ordered a half dozen male crabs when I walked in. While I don't doubt the seafood was fresh, I doubt the freshness of the steaming. I barely sat a minute after paying for the order when they brought out the bag to me. I like them fresh out of the steamer still moist inside and out. :) Regardless, they weren't cold and were still delicious when I got home. I would return again to satisfy a quick craving and when I'm not in the mood to sit in and have them at May's.

Ordered the seafood platter. The shrimp was huge, and crispy, and cooked to perfection. I will definitely be coming back here next time I pass through.

Best seafood place around. Fifteen to twenty bucks will get you a platter so big you will have leftovers, and the seafood is jumbo and fresh, not small little shrimp and scallops like you get at a chain place like Joes or Red Lobster... I highly recommend either the ultimate or supreme broiled or fried platter about 15 to 20 depending on if you want a regular or jumbo lump crabcake... The soft shell crab platter is also a favorite when in season, about 11 bucks for two big meaty soft shells, two sides and a roll... Overall great carryout seafood place... Good crabs too...

This place is awesome. They have a great selection and a huge variety. People that work here are really nice too. I was pleasantly surprised. Will come by again.

Crabs are good but SERVICE is TERRIBLE!!! They post deals on there FB page all the time, I called to CONFIRM the price of crabs because it was " too good to b true" because I didn't wanna drive 20 mins there to get there and hear them say " no that's not true" so I called, some Hispanic man answered the phone, barly knew English, I asked about the deal on there fb page and if that price was the same in the store ( like the website said) he said " what, fb, what?" I repeated myself, Nd he said " OHH ooo fb, yes I know about fb" then I said " I just wanted to confirm that this is the actual price for a dozen crabs, I live 20 mins away and I'm not driving out there if the deal isn't valid" he said " ooooo ok, hold on" and then HUNG UP ON ME.... I was like ..."what!!?!?" So I immediately called back thinking I got axidently disconnected...SAME man answered, I said " I think we got disconnected " and he said " no goodbye" and HUNG UP AGAIN!!! Okay so at that point I'm PISSED all I wanted to know if the fu*king price online was ACTUALLY the same in the store. I got my mother in law to call and she got the same guy, asked the same question, and he said *yelling* " NO NO, NO FB PRICE, THRRE NO FB PRICE" and then she said " well why is it up there for THAT location if you don't honor the price" and he said " NO MORE GOODBYE" and hung up. I checked fb and they TOOK IT OFF THE PAGE!! If you don't know proper English you shouldn't b answering a phone and don't hang up on your customers. I live 20 SOMTHING minutes away and I almost drove there to cuss this guy out, be more respectful!

We were happy to see them open only to be disappointed. Service in this place is horrible at best. Then we find out they raise their prices on the weekends for their crab cakes and other fresh seafood. I don't understand why some places do this.

I was so happy to get crabs on memorial day weekend! Once I got home with my half bushel #1 crabs my excitement soon diminished. The crabs were light and no where near the size of number 1's this Marylander girl was used to! Very sad all the crabs were small and very light. I will never get crabs from them again. As a true Marylander gal this was a huge disappointment. I would rather go without. They did have beautiful spiced shrimp.

I am normally pleased with my food from here (I would say 90% of the time the food is fresh). The fried fish, cold shrimp salad, and spiced shrimp are some of my favorites. While the food isn't the best I've had (I lived in Texas where cajun and seafood were popular and always fresh), the dishes I've tried are still pretty good, especially compared to what I'm used to. The sides leave a bit to be desired but still make good complements to the platters. The guy I see there most often is a nice Filipino fellow (maybe he's the owner?) who is willing to let you taste test some of the dishes before buying and is really helpful with suggestions. He's the one who introduced me to the spiced shrimp and cold shrimp salad, the two dishes I get most often for lunch now. Usually when the spiced shrimp is running out or isn't fresh, he'll let me know he's making me a fresh batch, which I don't mind waiting 5 or so minutes for. I would say this is probably the fastest place to get seafood for lunch if you're craving it and the prices seem reasonable. I haven't gotten any crabs, which seems to be one of the most common things purchased by those giving low reviews, but I can definitely recommend the spiced shrimp, for sure. :)

Sigh, I really had high hopes for this place. While I was working in town a lot of my coworkers would hit this place up right after they opened and everyone seemed to love them. I was a bit miffed looking at the two other yelp reviews on here thinking it could be a fluke, or just personal opinion. I really had high hopes. Personally, I was really debating between two and three stars. I still waver on this. I decided to go with the crab cake platter. Upon opening the box, there was a lot of free room for things to roll around in it which told me right off the back, the amount of fries was pretty light. Sure enough,. I was suppose to have a double order of fries, but they were lgiht on the fries. And while on the subject of fries, they just did nothing for me. First off, seafood fries in Maryland should have old bay, but they didn't, and the crunch to them were not to my taste. Overall, they were to very Maryland'ee. Now for the crab cakes. First impression of them was they were burnt. The breading was overly cooked, dark brown to near black. The inside was cooked well, but still the outward appearance was poor. The taste was not bad, but a tad flat, and the filler was noticeable. Don't get me wrong the crab cakes weer full of crab meat. I'd say about 85%-90% crab 10%-15% filler, so not a bad ratio, not great, but a lot better than a lot of other carry out places. I will admit, the crab cakes were not as great as I would have hoped, but still a lot better than a lot of other places. The cost for the crab cake platter was nearly $13 not too terribly bad, but for the price not that great either. I would not hesitate to stop by Cameron again to try some of their other offerings, and their fresh fish market stocks a lot of variety. I can not speak for their other platters and offerings, again, but as so far as being a fish market, their selection is top notch. (I have not boguht fresh fish from them so I can not state an opinion on the quality) But I would certainly give them a try. Overall, Cameron seems like a decent place, but I'm a pretty fussy seafood aficionado. I eat at crab houses regularly, especially on the eastern shore so my standards are pretty high. For the Frederick are it's not a bad start, but there is work needed to improve the quality of the prepared food. I'll return again at some time and try again.

We got some to-go from here last Friday---it is Lent, after all---and overall we enjoyed the food. I had the fried catfish, which to this Southern Louisiana gal was surprisingly good. Not the best, not even close, but it tasted fresh, didn't have too much breading, and was definitely something I would order again. My husband got the platter, which included a variety of things. The fish in the platter (I'm not sure what it was) did not taste as good as the catfish. The crab cake was very blah and tasteless. The scallops we're too gooey for my liking (although my husband said he didn't mind). The fried shrimp looked ridiculous (like pancakes with tails, I've never seen a fried shrimp like that before). But, the spiced shrimp was very good. It reminded me of a good New Orleans shrimp boil. Very tasty. We called and ordered ahead, which ended up being a very good idea, considering the line of people waiting for their food was rather long and we just walked up, paid, and left. I can see myself ordering from Cameron's again (catfish and spiced shrimp!) and would recommend it to anyone who has a seafood craving but would rather eat at home.

I love their steam crabs and the variety of seafood. Their prawns are huge and great to make walnut shrimp. The service is a little slow but worth the wait in getting your food done right.

Just ok. Nothing at all special. Crab cakes didn't taste like crab. More filler. Not much crab or seasoning. Boiled shrimp were ok

I went there at 8:40 on a weekday evening to buy some fresh fish for dinner the next day. They were open and a 3 or 4 people were waiting for platters. The uncooked fresh seafood area contained covered plastic containers in ice, like they wanted to close up at 9 on the dot. (not sure of their hours...just assuming it was 9). I asked about softshell crabs and they said they had frozen ones for $5.99, but he didn't offer to show any to me when I asked about the size...just mumbled something about them being okay size. I then asked if the fresh seafood area was closed and he said yes. Okay...store is open, there is obviously something in those plastic containers (they were opaque so it was impossible to tell what was in the containers), but, instead of being glad to have a customer, he just acted annoyed that I was there and wasn't willing to show me anything (and another guy in the background wasn't doing anything). I just walked out and doubt I'll bother with the place in the future, although I may try again early in the day if I am in the area (but definately won't make a special trip there).

Had the ultimate seafood platter. Most everything was overcooked. The scallops were decent, though. Find some place else.
