I am really surprised with the positive reviews. I am a native Californian, and I still think that hasn't colored my view that this food and service are sub-par. Mexican is my favorite food, and I wouldn't come here again. Most importantly, the food was not worth the $40 tab. We got the fajita special and the burrito grande. The fajita chicken and vegetables were overcooked, which explains why the order took so long. The burrito was just a huge disappointment. It was a big tortilla, filled with tough/fatty steak, and too little of the fillers. The service was also really slow, considering we arrived at 4.45 pm on a Saturday (after biking112 miles) and were the only ones in the restaurant. We asked for a few minutes to see the menu. Fifteen minutes later, I went to the bar to get the server. The server was actually great after that, though maybe our food stayed too long on the grill or under the lamp.

Beyond horrible. These people have no clue what good Mexican food is. I grew up in Texas, know good Mexican, and this is the polar opposite of good. I have tried this several times and each time find it disgusting.

I really like Plaza Tapatia. The food is great, but I will avoid the Easton location like the plague despite living less than 5 minutes away. The service is always miserable whether they are busy or slow. Our last trip, the waiter walked right by us a handful of times after we were clearly finished eating and our drinks were empty. I attempted to flag him down to no avail and ultimately had to go up to the counter without my check and he tried to ring us up as the wrong table. It's a shame because the service is great at the other locations I've visited (both salisbury locations and Cambridge).

Quick and good. Love the spicy Fajitas. Very nice people. The Margarita's looked good., but I was driving.

I'm always wary of authentic Mexican food as so many restaurants leave me feeling not too great afterward. Fortunately this was not the case. It's pretty typical as far as decor and staff, but the food was hot, fresh, and delicious. Chips were hot and abundant with lots of tasty salsa and guacamole. If I'm ever in the area again I'd go back.

Wonderful staff and great food. The scenery is lovely. Eating here take me back to when I was a little girl that was close to her family. This restaurant is the spot for Hispanic cuisine!

Salsa and chips were excellent. They have carta blanca on tap which is always good. The tacos de carne asada were fantastic and easily craveable. Though, the ground beef was not very good and the beans for nothing to write home about. The decor was nice and the restaurant is large. Service was actually pretty great, which is unique for mexican restaurants. Probably a 3. 6 stars, and definitely a solid food stop along route 50.

I heard that the fish tacos were good. So I went for lunch by myself to try them since my hubby wasn't interested. Well they were not on the lunch menu, so I asked and they brought me a menu with specials on it. They were very good. I enjoyed them thoroughly. $12 for lunch was more than I had planned to pay, but worth it. Next time I'll go for dinner if I can convince my husband to go and try them out.

Great. Get the real mexican here...Mole Ranchero, Carnitas, Tacos de Carne Asada, and their Fajitas come with a lot of meat. A huge plus is that a pitcher of Margaritas is only $15.99 !!

While staying at Hyatt we decided to try out some local restaurants as the food in there was way too expensive and not tasty either. Previous day we went to Jimmy & Sooks and loved that place. Again from the reviews at Yelp decided to to try Plaza Tapatia even though we are not much into Mexican food except Chipotle and Quesadillas. Our family enjoyed the setting, service and food. It surprising to see the food cost very less there as the place looks pretty nice.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the WORLD. Speedy service, nice staff, and the white sauce has a cult following.

Ahh my liberal with five-star rating friends have been at it again - but D Food Snob is here ot bring fair and balanced reviews back to this "Mexican" restaurant. I'm not reviewing this place in great detail - it doesn't really deserve it. If you've ever actually had any real Mexican food you'll know right away this is one of those places that is just a tad up the scale from Taco Bell. Your typical dish here will be a 'combo' which consists of an enchilada, burrito, taco, chile relleno, or tamale with a side of tasteless yellow 'mexican' rice and lard-laden refried beans. I popped in here on a late lunch hour Tuesday on the way back from Ocean City and wanted to try something I hadn't tried before on the way back. I totally forgot there was a new Sonic just down the road a way - I would have opted for that instead believe it or not (D Food Snob does like SOME fast food).... Service was slow - I sat for some time before I even got a menu. Chips were served with a rather average salsa although it was hotter than most typical 'mediums' were. They also came with a white 'sauce' - I never did figure out what it was - clearly sour cream based but it so didn't go with the chips. The food was non-descript - I got one of those lunch combos which will fill you up but really didn't have any actual flavor. A taco and a enchilada with beans. The plate was nuclear hot when it arrived but the server didn't bother to tell me that so my first experience was a burn on my fingertips - I probably should have known but it would have been nice to have been reminded. Everything tasted about the same and needed LOTS of hot sauce to be salvaged. I could have done just as good at Taco Bell for half the cost. Sorry - anyone who gives this place 5 stars should find a new career - food critic isn't one of them I'd consider. There are literally thousands of wanna-be "Mexican" restaurants in this country that are mirror-images of this place - and I'd bet you've already been to a few. I think they have a business model and they buy all their products down to the plates from the same source. Even the plastic mexican hat guy with the blanket over his arm at the front entrance. This one was dirty too - there was a half-drank bottle of water sitting up on the shelf next to my booth - the condensation inside indicating it had been there a long time. Tapatia deserves 2 stars - because if you discriminate at all - you HAVE had better. This place might appeal to the same folks that like getting a fortune cookie with their sweet and sour pork at some strip-mall chinese joint but to D Food Snob it is a total pass. Tapatia might be good for families and is definitely good for those interested in quantity over quality. As for authenticity? It's about as "Mexican" as I am Ethiopian... NOT REMOTELY humbly submitted this day... D. FoodSnob, Ph.D

Ok, D Food Snob PhD must be out of his mind if he only gives Plaza Tapatia 2 stars. Out of a scale of 5 stars I think Plaza is worth 5 on their worst days. The chips are freshly cooked and the salsa and white sauce are different every time I go there proving that they are made in house. You can get as many refills as you want and 9 times out of 10 they will get you a fresh basket without having to ask for it. I've never been to Mexico (and I doubt D Food Snob has either) so I don't exactly know what Mexican food tastes like in Mexico, but this is absolutely authentic Mexican food at its best. The Texas Fajitas are my favorite and they are always perfect. My wife loves the Chimichangas and we don't even need to look at the menu anymore because these two choices are pure perfection. We have been coming to Plaza since it opened 10 years or so ago and it the service and food hasn't changed a bit. Most of the waiters and waitresses are the original staff and the owner is a great guy. We've been bringing our son there since he was a few days old and he loves it! The kids menu is perfect for exposing children to Mexican food without having to worry about it being too spicy. And we celebrate our birthdays there every year it is a tradition that will never end! So please people, completely disregard the two star review that Dr. D-Bag left and try it for yourself. You will not be disappointed and I am sure it will not be the last time you go.

Nice place...good food, and good service. I'm looking forward to returning.

It's basic Mexican food at basic prices. Nothing too extraordinary, but I've never had a bad meal here. If you're a vegetarian, they have good options for you-- spinach, mushroom, or potato fillings for enchiladas, burritos, etc. etc. Service is generally very good.

Although not a real mexican food connoisseur, I would consider this the best mexican food I have eaten. This place is always crowded and I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes. Great for kids (the place is loud) or groups. I've tried the gamut of mexican dishes here and have never been disappointed. They even have potato tacos here which I haven't seen anywhere else. Wait staff is always excellent.

Ahhhhh... Love it! Quick, clean, and tasty! I love their chicken burritos, strawberry margaritas, and that awesome complimentary dip they give you with your chips. Make this place a stop on your trip through!

This is a great tex-mex (a.k.a. mexican) restaurant that I always try to stop at while traveling to or from the beach. They have a vegetarian section on the menu. It is clean and festive; also, the wait staff is quick and responsive. Plus, the food is yummy yummy in my tummy.

My most favorite Mexican restaurant in Maryland! I don't even mind making the drive just for the lunch when I can. Authentic, hot, fresh, delicious food. The staff is so friendly and make you feel right at home. I've never been disappointed!

I love Plaza. Hands down, my favorite Mexican place. The Ranchero dip is awesome. I like the stuffed shrimp app. And I always go with combination platters. You get to pick your main items (I suggest burritos and enchiladas) and still get rice and beans. More than enough to fill you up, and the prices are great. Margaritas are delicious, strong and a good size! They're very well priced, so get that second drink. The only reason they don't get 5 stars is the service. They're polite, but not friendly. And they're not super attentive. I usually am completely out of soda and drinking my husband's before they come back. Check takes a long time to be dropped off. But the food is delicious, fast and cheap. Love it!

First let me say that I was born in Southern California and therefore I have had some of the most amazing Mexican, Peruvian, Cuban, Salvadorian etc... Foods you can find. I mean no disrespect but this place is as authentic as Taco Bell. Everything practically taste the same and bland, there only a few tasty entrees that stand out. I'm sure I'm bias because growing up eating my mothers and families home cooked meals makes for a very harsh critic. The only reason in go to this place is because most of my eastern shore non Latino friends think this place is great! Craziness, I know, it's like telling an Italian that The Olive Garden is great Italian food, BS!!! My recommendation is get some Latino friends in your life if not only for the sole purpose of having their mother or grandmother cook for you. Or try the other Latin American place in downtown Easton which is maybe a little better but still not as good as it gets. As for me I'm on my way to my mothers house to have her rice and beans because I'm spoiled.

OUTSTANDING!!! I cannot say enough good things about this place. Service was outstanding, food was delicious and atmosphere was wonderful. My husband had carnitas - cooked perfectly with a light char on the outside and melt in your mouth. I had the chimichangas, chicken and beef, and they were the best I've ever had! Please, do not pay attention to the bad review of this place, that person obviously has it out for someone who works there or is a rival business owner. The place was crowded but not packed on a Friday night and like I said, service was outstanding. Super kid friendly too!!! I'm so sorry we haven't stopped here before during one of our million trips past. This is absolutely our new go to Mexican restaurant!

This place is HORRIBLE; the food is beyond belief bad. The Margaritas are undrinkable, the salsa is crap, and the chips are stale. This review is not based on a single experience but six visits over a period of 18 months. Just awful food.

This is hands down the BEST Mexican food ever. I don't live near Easton but whenever I'm on the Eastern Shore I make a point to stop in. I'd love to know what the white dip is that they serve with the chips and salsa because it is delicious. Plaza Tapatia is my absolute favorite restaurant. My only complaint is that it's not closer to where I live!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
