My girlfriend and I found this place on yelp for our last night on a long roadtrip, and it was wonderful. The staff are super friendly, the rooms are expansive and clean, and the breakfast was delicious. We'd definitely stay there again.

This is the picture perfect B&B...the rooms are very nice "LaSalle" room was really nice and has plenty of room for the traveler. The historic inn is very well furnished and decorated tastefully and warm. The lounge has a fireplace and small bar where you are served a nice well prepared meal, and small bar to have a cocktail or glass of wine. There are books and games to keep oneself occupied. Our stay was for three days during a visit to see family and I would highly recommend the Bruce House as a place that has it all, good rooms, food and quality attention by the owner. My only thing I would say be aware of was the very bright sunrise that enters the LaSalle room in the early morning "east facing rooms and windows" that was a beautiful sight, unless you want to sleep in...and sleep well thans Pam

How lucky we were to find this gem of an inn! When last minute plans called for a visit to western Maryland, Yelp led us to this wonderful, charming and spotless inn where Pam, the owner, was as welcoming as a long lost friend. Our room, the George Washington, had a soaring 14 ft ceiling, a super-comfy 4-poster bed, spacious private bathroom and thoughtful amenities that you'd expect to find somewhere charging twice the price (and offering half the ambience). Everything from the soft bathrobes to the towel warmer to the remote controlled ceiling made our stay a delight. The breakfast was ample and delicious, and cheerfully served. I can't wait to find another reason to revisit the Bruce House Inn!

Loved this place, I came in from the trail with my tail dragging between my legs. She turned my neg to a pos. I was physically beat. Lovely room, clean, quite. Owners personality is flexible, congenial, & user freindly. I was a little warm sleeping, & I could not control temp, as I big guy (fat), I likr it when you can see your breath. My plans were in flux when I was there, & she was amenable. Breakfast was outrageously good!

We stayed here after two days of biking down the GAP trail from Pittsburgh. Worn out from a long day, we were bummed to see that the inn is located at the top of a short but steep hill, but it was WORTH IT. We were greeted with local Ruby Port and cheese, had a fantastic shower with amazing water pressure to melt away muscle soreness, and the next morning (before departed for another 70 mile day of riding) we had a wonderful breakfast of homemade muffins, fruit, eggs, pancakes and sausage, with a vegetarian sausage option. Just awesome! Secure bike parking available in their garage.

My husband and I went to Cumberland for a little getaway. We wanted some peace and quiet since we work in the DC metro area. We stayed in the George Washington room, which is located on the second floor (the only room on that floor). There are about I believe five rooms in total, two downstairs, one on the second floor and two more on the top floor. Our room was very spacious as well as the bathroom. The bed was big and spacious which was great for a good nights rest. The breakfast was delicious too, we had french toast drizzled with a raspberry type of syrup on top and bacon. Too bad, we could only stay there one night, since they were booked all up the following night. We will definitely be going back to room here.

We stayed here to celebrate our 2-year anniversary - everything about the place was lovely. We stayed in the "monk's room", which was cozy, and very private. Pam was a delightful hostess, and we would recommend it to everyone!

This is a spectacular bed and breakfast that I would highly recommend. My husband and I spent part of our honeymoon there and it was everything we had hoped for. The breakfasts that Pam cooks are amazing - typically a two course event that is quite delicious. Pam also has a wine and drinks reception every evening at 5pm, which is also quite nice. The room that we got (Monk's room) was awesome: extremely clean, comfortable and spacious. While we did not go on the train ride while we were there, we know that if you are interested, Pam will set you up with a very nice picnic for you to take on your trip. We paid ~$700 for 5 nights, which seemed quite reasonable. We were very impressed with the overall service and would be very happy to go there again.
