I contacted European Desserts and More to ask them to bake cakes for my wedding, which was this past weekend. I had become frustrated with other vendors in Cumberland who I found would simply not return my phone calls to discuss baking a wedding cake but still wanted to support a local business owner. I found all of the staff at ED to be very easy to communicate with, very cooperative and welcoming of my ideas (I ended up ordering 7 cakes from them, all 7 were a different flavor), and the cakes were both beautiful and delicious. The shop itself is located on the new Canal Place in Cumberland and I stopped by a few times before the wedding to check out the cakes and Sacsha was very helpful every time. He even gave me a slice of raspberry cheesecake for free and a cannoli for free on two of the occasions. Also, if you do not follow their Facebook page, you really should. They post the most AMAZING and colorful photos of everything they bake every day. The cakes ended up being $371 total or $50 + tax for each which actually is not a bad price considering you can get about 12-16 slices from each cake and they are gourmet and made from scratch. I felt great knowing that I could get my cake from this shop without resorting to buying a $100 trans-fat Walmart wedding cake. Everyone always says that guests at a wedding remember the way a cake looks but not the way it tastes. I am hoping my guests will remember both! In my case, I was able to serve 7 different delicious flavors and I know that some of my family members tried at least 3-4 different types of cake at the reception. Lovely shop and staff members and DELICIOUS cakes. Would very strongly recommend for a birthday, wedding, or other celebration type of cake!!!!

The baklava really was amazing. Super good and sweet. I love sweets and this was sweet overload couldn't finish it by myself and live. I recommend sharing. As far as the cakes, the cake itself was good. I prefer icing though but hey, if you don't like cakes with icing, this is for you!

Very nice family which runs the shop. Decent desserts and lunch items. Right on the start of th C&) Canal towpath to Georgetown, DC. Its worth going in and getting something to eat for no reason other than to support the hard working foreign family which operates it.

This place is in a cool little off shoot of the city. I was put the the task of getting a dessert for a big family dinner and I went down to Desserts and More. I did not know of the advance notice for a whole cake, though I understand why that's necessary. It did not matter though. The owner replaced the slice he had taken out of the cake in order to show it off, re-decorated it and I couldn't even tell! The cake I got was some sort of white cake with a raspberry topping and I am assuming home made whip cream. IT WAS AWESOME! The topping on it was not over done, it was not too sweet (Which is what European desserts are all about) nice and light for an after dinner spring time dessert for the family. The price is a bit surprising for a whole cake, but I'm happy to pay it to have a local dessert shop like this one that uses good ingredients to make a great finished product.

Amazing little café, stopped for a quick snack before taking the train ride to Frostberg. My mother got the spinach Pie, which she very much enjoyed, while I tried the Bosnian Coffee which was thick and delicious. On our way out we decided to get a dessert for the road, and was deliberating on either the raspberry chocolate cake or the peanut butter. We decided on the chocolate, but the owner gave us a sizable free sample of the peanut butter as well! The owner makes all of his own cakes, and they were both so amazing we can't decide what was better. If we are ever in the cumberland area again, we will defiantly come here again (and probably get full size cakes next time ;D ) As an aside, while we were there, a local came by and was buying seven different cakes for his wedding- just a testament to how delicious his cakes are!

Love the sandwiches and desserts! Baklava and tiramisu are faves but cakes and cannoli are awesome too! I always get the portobello sandwich which is large and meaty! Great outside area to enjoy coffee or lunch.
