Best Mexican food in Cumberland! Prices are excellent and food is tasty and authentic. Service is always good. It was tricky trying to find the building at first - just look for bright orange.

This place has excellent service and a great ambience! They have a yummy cheese dip. They bring you chips to your table. The food isn't very good, there are not many fresh ingredients and the textures of all the foods are similar and the flavors of all the foods are the same. Their prices are very affordable. I got a combo platter of a cheese enchilada and a chicken tamale and beans and rice for only 6.50! If the food had more variety of flavors I would have give them a better rating. The salsa for the chips is not spicy and taste like tomato sauce.

One of my favorite combinations of restaurant: cheap and delicious! Pretty sketch location but the servers are lovely and the Tuesday two dollar margaritas are top notch.

This place is pretty much like any other Mexican place except for the price. It is super affordable and the staff is friendly. It is our go to place after church. The fajita burrito is my favorite.

Just opened location in Cumberland. Also has a location in Keyser, WV. Very affordable, specials every day. Food is very good as was the service. A nice addition to the Cumberland area.

Oops! My bad! Wrong location. The flavors are good, but not authentic Mexican food. I actually like the no heat salsa they serve with the complementary chips. They have Cholula, Tapatio, Lol Tun habenero, and El Yacateco green habenero sauce so you can dial up the heat as much, or as little as you like. Will return again.

I'm very surprised at the good reviews for this Mexican Restaurant. If this is really a 4 star Mexican place people must be getting food from somewhere else because El Jinete is far from that. For starters the chips were stale, and then re-fried to add a crisp taste absolutely horrible. As for the menu itself go ahead and try to find Pork (Carnitas) anywhere on the menu. Other than Chorizo (Sausage) Pork doesn't exist. I've never been to a Mexican Restaurant anywhere in my travels through America that didn't have Carnitas on the menu... Amazing. Another oddity is the tomatillo sauce.. this is more of a red pepper sauce that I'm not sure even contains a single tomatillo. Which may also go hand in hand with the lack of Carnitas above being they don't actually serve a green sauce. As for the everyday Mexican dishes they are also sub-par. Chewy rice and just plain not good meals. Overall if you really know Mexican food this is not what your looking for. The only positive is friendly service, and decent prices other than that nothing is going to bring me back.

Good food, but vegetarians beware: their beans are NOT vegetarian, even though they are listed with almost every option under the "vegetarian" section of the menu. Which means cheese became my only protein, but, hey: I like cheese. The chips were fresh and the salsa was good, but the queso dip was too much like melted velveeta for our liking. The huevos rancheros were good and my friends enjoyed the fish tacos. My cheese enchiladas hit the spot and I cleaned my plate, but without beans the meal leaves a bit to be desired. I would go back, but I'll try other places in the area first. The staff was friendly, service was fast, and the place is clean, for the record.

For Mexican food, I would say that their food was average. The service was not bad. The prices were very reasonable. The ambience was reasonable for this type of restaurant. Overall, not a bad experience, good place.

Although the building is older, the food is delicious, the staff is friendly, and the service is quick. The tropical fajitas, which are not listed on the written menu, are quite possibly some of the best fajitas I have ever had. Give them a try!!!

Service and ambiance are great. The food is lacking, even considering the price. After living many places across the country, I've had the privilege of having awesome, fresh authentic Mexican food. This place is not that. The staff is very friendly and I really wanted to like this place, but the food makes it really hard to. I guess if you had never really eaten good Mexican food, I can see why you'd think this place was that.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED : Very good prices and authentic Mexican cuisine. LOCATION: Located in a mainly commercial area which is in a residential neighborhood. Overall a good amount of parking and space to get in and out. STAFF: The staff is very friendly and courteous. There is a bit of broken English but just make sure you reiterate your order so there aren't any miscues. The servers are courteous and fun to be around and deal with. FOOD: Food is incredible! I personally am loyal to El Canelo (another Mexican joint in area) but I can agree that the food is great. They have lunch specials.. karaoke on certain nights and plenty of chips and salsa to get you going. Give it a try you won't regret it!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
