I ordered fries and of course a hot dog.. As the waitresses brought the fries to the table she dropped about 5 actually on the table so she goes to grab all the fries she had dropped and continued to put them back on the fries that haven't fell onto the table.. I know this isn't a 5 star restaurant or anything.. But come on. And the hot dog really wasn't that good

Today was shop small business day so we went downtown in Cumberland and went to Barkin' Basement and an antique store close by. Had a great time and walked away with half a dozen very full shopping bags. Once we had taken the bags to the car, we abandoned our ideas about the grille and pub nearby for the Experience of Famous Hotdogs. Good decision! Divey atmosphere and good, cheap food. As others have said CASH ONLY but it's ok since the change in your pocket can buy a good meal. As I show in my pic, I had a Chocolate Rickey for the first time (outside my home and childhood). I usually don't like "chili" on a hotdog but went with the custom and got everything on two. My companion had a fish tail (fish sandwich) and more than three hotdogs. :) We got the sunny booth by the window, which is good in cold weather in Cumberland. Give it a try folks! BTW, I found all the restaurants from this trip with the Yelp App.

While on the return portion of our family vacation, we decided to get out of the family truckster for some hot dogs at Curtis' in Cumberland. Great decision! Here's why: (1) Good hot dogs. They're small. The sauce is good. They're tasty. If you want some kind of gourmet weiner fashioned from Kobe beef and served with an Asian-fusion sauce inspired, in part, by the chef's childhood summers in Nairobi, you are at the wrong place. If you want some crazy-ass old-fashioned hot diggity hot dogs, you're golden. (2) Cheap. I pinch pennies harder than those hand-crank souvenir machines and Curtis' passes inspection. (3) Fun place. The surrounding old downtown neighborhood is cool (although it is capable of baffling your phone's navigation system a little). The restaurant itself crosses into time machine territory. It's got that "lived in, ate in, slept in--all for a long freaking time" vibe about it. Character. (4) Awesome staff. The head hot dog guy in charge was insanely nice. He offered to snap a family portrait outside of the restaurant for us and patiently took multiple photos due to a (potentially intentionally) blinking 5 year old. He was a heckuva nice guy and seemed to actually give a hoot whether or not we were having a good experience even though he knew we were unlikely to ever wander from Kansas to Maryland on a lark to buy a few dogs again. All hail Curtis Famous Weiners.

Cheap hot dogs and buns you buy at grocery store with watery chili on top for way too much money...small thing of fries for way too much money...spent $20 and had to go buy more food at McDonalds to fill up...and had to pay to park in a small Podunk town. Nice people though

A can't-miss and Cumberland tradition! My favorite is a dog with sauce -- a recipe so secret that only owner Geno knows what goes in it. Add onions and mustard if you'd like. Fries are plentiful to share. Eat in to enjoy the old-school booths and waitresses who have worked there forever, or order at the counter for carry out. First visit? Watch at the food prep counter to see a big order of dogs stacked up on a server's arm to learn the reason behind the nickname "sweat dogs."

I would like to know how the health department does not shut this place down. Why do people think it it is okay for the cook to line your hotdogs up on their sweaty arms? Is this the secret sauce? I am sorry, I have been to alot of great hotdog stands around this country, and personally never came across one that allowed this. . To me this place only compares to the real one in name only. - Sorry.

Best hot dogs I've ever eaten. And at 1.65/each, they are a steal. They aren't that large, but I could eat like 10 of them, which would make my meal less than $20! Now that's value! Also, as a randomly lost Canadian at 9 pm on a weekday night, Curtis, the tatooed cool owner is super nice.

Great, local place for a hot dog with pretty close to the real thing - coney sauce. A classic in Cumberland. Not much inside seating - be ready with your order. Be sure to order two hot dogs - one will not be enough.

Same family since 1918, Gino is now the owner, main chef. Wieners with chili...about $1.56 each. Really authentic and fun place. Gino is great...very nice person who works hard for his business. I really think this is the type of place any adventurous person should try. The atmosphere is fun.

This place is quintessential Cumberland. No frills, great food. My only complaint is the hot dogs themselves are a bit on the small side -- but regardless, get 'em with everything and thank me later.

I'm normally not a hot dog lovin kinda guy but a trip to Cumberland without stopping at Coney Island (Curtis' Weiners) is just a big disappointment. Always order the same "three with" and an order of french fries and a large white milk. MMMmmmMMmmmm

Stopped on our way to Pittsburgh at Curtis's Coney Hot Dogs in Cumberland per Yelp reviews. Hot dogs were cheap, but you get what you pay for. Wasn't that impressed with whatever the sauce is that was put on the hot dog, but I did eat the whole thing. Fries were hot and crispy. Everyone was friendly. Should mention for those who care that the rest room needed cleaning.

You don't live in Cumberland and not eat at Curtis'. As long as I can remember I've been going with my family and friends. I don't visit frequently, but if you're in Cumberland, get yourself some dogs. My go to is two without (with sauce and mustard, no onion), fries, and a cherry smash. The staff always makes you feel welcome, and the service is lighting fast.

You absolutely have to stop here whether or not you are a coney dog fan or not. The history alone and atmosphere of this place is just incredible. I am a huge Detroit Coney Island fan, travel all over the country, and never pass up a historic place that serves coneys. You have to stop! Cash only. No credit. If you are anywhere near this historic town do yourself a favor and pull over. Right off the interstate in downtown Cumberland.

I was in town for Delfest over Memorial Day weekend and read about Curtis Famous Wieners and thought I'd give it a try. I'm from NYC but am always intrigued by restaurants like this. Almost 100 years old. I drove over to bring back some weiners for the group I was with. When I got there the place was empty so I immediately got a little nervous. The guy behind the counter said he just had a rush. I went a head and ordered 20 weiners with the special sauce and mustard. The also have chopped raw onions to go on them but we stayed away from the. When I heard they were 1.75 each I upped the order to 30 figuring I'll give some out to all the workers I pass as i drive back into the site. The Weiners are ok

Every time I am in Cumberland and Curtis' is open, I will go in, grab a stool at the counter and order a dog with "sauce" fries and a milkshake all at unbelievably cheap prices! I have ridden the bike trail through Cumberland on several occasions and discovered this place on my first trip. It has become a staple of every bike trip since. Also worth mentioning is the super friendly staff here including Geno the man running the joint who posed for a photo for my bike journal. It is noisy in here, but in a good way. Every time a new pot of chilli is brought up front the man carrying it will shout "SAUCE" at the top of his lungs. A trip to Cumberland is not a trip to Cumberland without a stop at Curtis'

Great wieners! Ma and Pop type restaurant. Great feel. Worth stopping in. Cash only.

Probably the best hot dogs I have ever had. I do not stop in that often, but when I do I order as many as I can possibly eat. I order "without" which is mustard and a chili sauce on it. "With" comes with onions on it also. Wish they still had the cherry smash though. I believe coke discontinued the product they used to make it so it is not their fault. Wish they would still find a way to make it though. Put the meal over the top! The place has been around since I was a kid and it has always been my favorite place for a hot dog. Great "mom and pop" type of place that makes delicious wieners! (Same place as Coney Island Famous Weiners)

My wife grew up with Curtis Coney Island, and for the past ten years it has become an annual ritual to stop when we head west, The past three years I have made a point of taking our school kids from Baltimore when we go on the Fort Cumberland/Emmanuel Episcopal Church tour. Gino and company are simply the best, Hot Dogs with sauce, French Fries, and the milk shake is to die for. There are great restaurants in Cumberland, but Curtis Coney Island is a must for food, and local flavor. Modestly priced and you can feed the whole clan.

Great hot dogs. Awesome price. Nice staff. My daughter didn't know what brown mustard was so they let her try some. Great experience.

For the life of me I can't see why people like this place. The hotdogs are their marquee product and they're tiny, tiny, tiny! Hotdogs tiny and the custom "sauce" is dry and crumbly and flat out doesn't taste that great. Dogs over priced by a long shot for what you get. You can get two hotdogs with good chili sauce and cheese at Sheetz for less than what you would pay for one of Curtis' underwhelming dogs. And they taste better too.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: This place has been around since 1918, and it isn't going anywhere. The owner Geno is always there talking to people, getting'em going and taking care of every detail. Great deli style-big city hotdogs and fries. Try a Chocolate Ricky and make sure you tell them Garrett from the video game store sent you. He gets a kick out of things. The only draw back is it's CASH ONLY! I forgot about that once and Geno let me slide. Like I said this is a town landmark. Stop in.

Great hotdog shop. Reasonably priced. The staff was super cool and very attentive. They had legit Coney Island style hotdogs. The inside is old school and has a hole in the wall feel to it. Ill be back for sure.
