They have the crabbiest crab soup this side of Maryland. Outdoor and indoor seating. Cool atmosphere and great food. Not a huge beer selection, but there are other bars right around the corner for that..

Amazing quaint little place in the heart of historical downtown Cumberland. Great service and good food. Eat upstairs, ate there 3-4 times while in town; lunch or dinner. Had the chicken salad over mixed greens for lunch and the crab cakes for dinner. Had a small band playing the last night I was there(Thursday) violin, flute, accordion, & hand held type of drum(I'm not musically inclined nor do I know all the instruments). Worth your time, neat place to have a romantic dinner.

Just had a fresh soft shell crab sandwich for lunch, wow. Fantastic. The fries were excellent as well and customer service was wonderful. Our server was the best! Overall an amazing value too.

Great outdoor seating. My husband had the crispy chicken sandwich and I had the grilled chicken sandwich. Both were seasoned and prepared well. The cream of crab soup was excellent! A little spice and LOTS of crab. Our waitress was wonderful. She was the only server on duty, yet she wAs very attentive. Glad we stopped in while on our way to P A!

Everything was perfect! Perfect service, perfect pace, perfect drinks, perfect food, perfect dessert! Dishes are home made and delicious. Prices for the quality are extremely reasonable compared to big city dining. We sat outside under the awning on a semi raining evening listening to city square rock bands. A perfect evening!

I left this review for the wrong restaurant accidentally! Trying to figure out how to delete it. City Lights outdoor seating did look nice, however:)

We had a great meal outside on a Friday evening while some music played nearby. I had the Grilled Chicken Salad which was great! We didn't have any wine but I might next time. I'm gluten free and they were accommodating and made a note on the order so there was no cross contamination. Would recommend highly.

Stopped here after a graduation. Very good food. French onion soup was very good, and the Mediterranean Chicken was excellent. Great blend of flavors and who doesn't love Feta cheese!

Haven't been here in ages. Menu is upgraded. Did Wine and Cheese Wednesday and Steven had the special, filet wrapped in bacon topped with lump crab in lobster sauce. Limited wine list. But everything was very good. Would be a 5* but for the wine.

I came in town drained from bicycling. This place was upscale, but extremely accomadating to me in no sleeves and shorts. Very congenial. Ate Filet & Shrimp I think, all was great but filet was only 3 oz maybe....other thsn that atmosphere & service great

I was in town on business and checked here on Yelp for dinner recommendations. They do a great meatloaf, and I had a great time sitting at the bar having a chat with others over dinner. The staff were all quite friendly, and interesting. All in all, a most enjoyable evening.

Prices were adequate. Large portions of food. I ordered the chicken Chesapeake and had left overs. The shrimp Middleton was also a great appetizer. The bread umm... Not so much! The bread choice was soft dinner rolls that you can buy from the grocery store. Service was a little slow, but overall not a bad choice at all for dinner. I would go again.

LOCAL REVIEW: I stop in here about twice a year to get dinner and have a few drinks. Overall it is good food downtown that offers outdoor dining on the bricks in the warmer months and an intimate dining experience year round. ATMOSPHERE: First and foremost parking will be an issue. This is located on a pedestrian walkway downtown and even with a parking lot around back, things get crowded downtown during the day. You may have to do a couple of orbits to find a spot or just park on the ground floor of the parking garage downtown for hourly parking. As far as the restaurant it is a great place during warmer months to stop and eat outside on the bricks and enjoy downtown- with plenty of business people stopping for their lunch breaks here. During the winter months things can get crowded during peak hours but it's an intimate spot that has a small bar and decent dining space. (9/10) FOOD : The most important part- and I've had several different items from salads, to steaks, to crab cakes and crab dip. Overall this place is very good. Maybe once or twice I ran into something underprepared or bland- but 9/10 times its done properly. (9/10) SERVICE : The waitresses and bartenders usually are on the friendlier side yet if you get there near the tail end of their operating hours service may be slow. (9/10) PRICE : this would fall under fine dining even with lunch specials and whatnot but it's not outrageous. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO ANYONE VISITING THE AREA OR FROM THE AREA WHO HASNT BEEN BY YET! (9/10)

Decent place...service a little weak at the bar. Food was ok. For Cumberland, it's fine...if it was in DC, place would not last a week

This is the place my family always wants to go for celebrations. They have great food and are always nice and are easily accommodating.

Pleasant little upscale grill in the historic downtown part of Cumberland. Seating outside was nice. Our crab cake on a salad was good. Not too bready so you could enjoy the crab itself. The kids' chicken tenders was standard and their fries quite good. Service was slow tonight (a Tuesday night). My only other complaint is that the bread in the bread basket looked and tasted like giant store bought dinner rolls. Suggestion to owners about the bathroom that opens up to a diners's table (inside): put one of those rounded shower curtain rods with curtains so those unfortunate diners aren't subjected to the sight and smell of the bathroom. Potential diners, avoid being seated here unless this problem has been addressed or you lose your appetite.

My husband and I were driving through Maryland ti see the fall colors. We stopped in Cumberland by chance to stretch for a bit and have lunch. After walking around the downturn area and checking out a local festival, we found City Lights. I wish I could send everyone I know to this place! Delicious homemade soups, wonderful Cobb salad, attractive decor, and attentive, friendly service.

The waitress was great and the outdoor seating was wonderful, the food was horrible. Our crab dip was average taste with little to no crab meat. The crab cake was inedible by both people in my party.

My bf and I had dinner here Saturday night to celebrate an early Valentines Day. I guess I have high standards coming from DC, but I was not overly impressed. We ordered the stuffed shrooms to start- which were fantastic! Spicy and tender sausage in mushrooms with a yummy marinara. I had the raspberry chicken dish for dinner, which came with a side of steamed veggies and choice of starch- loaded or plain baked potato, rice or fries. It would've been nice to have an additional option or advised it came with veggies. It was a large portion but the sauce overpowered/swamped the chicken and it wasn't very good. My bf had their Chesapeake chicken and he said it was good, but overpowered by the melted cheese on top. He had the rice and said it was nothing special. We had their blackberry cobbler for dessert- which had coconut shreds in it. I don't mind because I like coconut, but for some that don't it would've been nice if that was advertised. Overall I guess this was a nice place for Cumberland and limited choices, but I don't think I would go again.

Great food and an attentive waitress at dinner. The prices are a little high for the area, but we had a great evening.

Very nice little surprise in Cumberland, MD. Had the Caesar Salad with Grilled Chicken and a cup of white bean soup. Both were very good. Its small, but with that you get a fair amount of attention. Given the limited options in the area this should be on your list to try if you're passing through.

This pleasant cafe serves standard American fare for lunch (I've not tried dinner here). The service is prompt, attentive and competent. The food, though, is only mediocre. It's inexpensive, but you get what you pay for: the chicken sandwich and burger were served on dry buns, the side dishes were skimpy and simple dishes lacked seasoning. City Lights is adequate for a quick, casual and convenient meal on the pedestrian mall as an alternative to greasy fast food.

    Best crabcake in town.

Really terrific wait staff, nice place for lunch but a little on the pricey side. Best blackberry cobbler around! Average indoor decor but sitting outside on a sunny day in beautiful downtown Cumberland is worth every penny.
