Diabetics at TGI Friday

If you're a diabetic, then you must be extra careful while dining at TGI Friday. Try the salad menu at TGI Friday to keep your sugar and sodium intake in check. Soups are great to keep you full and satisfied without munching on the unhealthy greased meat-based dishes on TGI Friday menu.

Foods to Avoid at TGI Friday for Diabetics:

Sugar and sodium intake are crucial if you have diabetes. While the salads are the best option for you at TGI Friday, it is recommended to avoid the Pecan-Crusted Chicken Salad containing over 1000 calories and 1,650mg sodium. Also, skip Warm Pretzels with Craft Beer-Cheese dipping sauce as it contains more than 3000mg sodium. It is wise to skip the dessert for diabetics, especially the Brownie Obsession topped with Vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, and pecans.

You should make smart choices while dining at TGI Friday if you have cholesterol issues.

Foods to Avoid at TGI Friday for High Cholesterol

Friday's is a place that has not adjusted to other bars in the area, and whose indifferent staff just doesn't cross the finish line. Food - Pub food, burgers and a few specialty dishes. Example: The Korean tacos? Clearly designed by Kim Jong Un with the hidden 'where's the beef' meat. Best value is probably the unlimited soup and salad. Service - I used to frequent the bar, where previously, veteran talent and service made the difference. Alas, the vets are gone, and their replacements are sadly not up to speed. Example: I waited 25 minutes in a nearly empty (4 other bar patrons) for a burger, and further watched the blonde bartender chat up some other patrons in lieu of serving customers. Location: Good, right off of 95. Protip: Try not to fuel up at the world's most expensive Exxon up the street, and if hitting HH, be mindful of the county's finest trolling to waylay you after a sip or two.. Other: Good HH times. Fridays and Saturday nights, mind the thumping at the bar as the quasi hip-hop DJing begins. Mianly younger crowd. If you are looking for chain pub fare, there's the Greene Turtle (younger), Applebee's (yuck, not my style), Frisco Burrito (good beer selection, but expensive), and Victoria's up the street (slightly older crowd, little more expensive).

I actually had a really good experience here. The waitress was kind and thoughtful. Always had a smile. Food came out and was hot and tasted fresh. When I asked for a box to go, she even threw in some extra bleu cheese dressing which I like. The only thing that was off were the fries just didn't look very fresh, not the waitresses fault. Overall, I would return.

Service sucks. The food is horrible and the waitress are jerks. They also have flies....disgusting!!

The food here is just gross. What can I say? It's just not my style at all. Even the salads are fattening. The appetizers aren't good also (and I had high hopes for the fried green bean thingys). There are just much much better places in Columbia (try Akbar, Sushi Sono...)

If Robert Irvine and the Restaurant Impossible crew visited chain restaurants, this place would be a prime candidate. It's obvious the management is severely lacking. A feedback session filled with verbal thrashings in a British accent may be exactly what this place needs. The food is decent, but the service is just horrendous. It should never take 30 minutes to bring a kid's drink at 3:30PM when the place is dead. I know the deal, the bartender makes certain kids drinks. Seeing staff members (to include the manager) walk in from an obvious extended smoke break while our appetizers arrive without the kids meal or drinks really set me off. I wanted to get up and leave but the wife needed her Korean steak taco fix (which were skimpy on the steak). She's also had poor experiences with the to-go service facing long waits during off peak hours. It seems like the kitchen has it together, but the front is...how should I put this...WACK! Bottomline, it would take a serious coupon to get me to visit here ever again.

Fridays used to be our go to place, but no more. The food is ok or less. Actually the biggest issue is that it is never hot. It used to be at this location 7 days a week you had to wait for a table. Now its always half empty. we try it every few months and are always ok with taste, not great, for most of it. But it comes out luke warm. keeps doing that. Our servers have been sweet and attentive, but the food is not hot. we should send it back but fear it being over cooked. soup should be steaming so you have to blow on it instead of being able to eat it fast. moz sticks should take some getting used to. wings shojld be hot (temperature). none of these things have happened in the last year. again, another place we may not go back to -along with what seems to be a lot of columbia. most places have lines, not here. for a reason. its a shame.

I'm giving this 3 stars because the food was really good. That's about as far as that goes. I went out with my boyfriend and roommate. It was a special occasion and we rarely go out and eat good. The waiter basically ignored us. My boyfriend was dehydrated from working at the tire shop all day and needed lots of fluids. The waiter did not come by once to ask if he needed a refill. Then he reported that the bathroom was disgusting. These casual dining places really need to do better. Come on really. They weren't even crowded.

Today is my husband's birthday. We were scheduled to go to another restaurant in the area where we were poorly treated so we left and found this TGI Friday's on Benson Road, Columbia. As soon as we walked through the door the greeter smiled warmly and escorted us to our table. It wasn't long before our friendly server, Mike, arrived. He kidded with us and took our drink orders leaving us to mull over the menu choices. Ed's celebratory Long Island ice tea happy juice and my New Belgium Brewing Fat Tire Ale arrived. Then Mike took our dinner orders. Ed loved his Bruschetta Chicken Pasta, the salad was a standard garden salad that was nothing to write home about. I had a medium-rare 6 ounce sirloin cooked to perfection, steamed broccoli and tomato mozzarella salad. Yummy!! Ed got his Tennessee Whiskey cake for dessert and I had the Vanilla Bean Cheesecake. Our meal was wonderful. Our server checked on us from time to time not too much and not too little. So did the manager. Everyone was friendly, good humored and helpful. You can't get better than that. We recommend this TGI Friday's on Benson Road. We will be coming back. Thanks for a great time and a happy birthday.

Was pretty good svc for a Wed night. There was no hostess when we walked in and we stood there awkwardly for 5 min. Had to flag down a waitress to be seated. Other then that our waiter was great and the food was good.

I was really shocked at the service we got. The man who served us was really busy which I understood. But the worse you treat me the more you are hurting your own pockets. The food was cold. Had to take back an order cause it tasted like pure butter. My friends burger was not good. I would not come back here

So let me understand this-we are having 15 people tonight to celebrate a graduation so we're spending about $400 but you can't hold a graduation cake for me when it's 85 degrees outside. Got it

At this particular location the food is usually good. The issue comes with the staffing. It always takes a long time get waited on in this Fridays. I'm not sure if it's a payroll issue or if they just can't keep staff. There was no host at the door and someone had to go fetch him. He came speeding back up but not without words to his Co worker about only being one person. The plus to all of this is that the waiters and waitresses are very polite. It seems like they understand their flaws and they are very apologetic. I'm sitting in the restaurant right now and it's not busy on a Saturday evening. It feels weird.

Since Friday's has a mojito, martini, and Long Island ice tea deal on Thursdays I decided to go and check it out. Our waiter was very friendly and made the beverages quickly. I ordered the Jack Daniels Chicken and Shrimp with French fries and spinach. The shrimp was okay the Jack Daniels sauce definitely made it more flavorful however, the grilled chicken was very dry and not as flavorful even with the addition of Jack Daniels sauce. The French fries were just regular French fries while the spinach was pretty tasty. All in all; I gave it three stars because of the okay chicken.

That moment when your neighbor says "Sorry about that awful, awful experience." as you're about to exit the car and trudge the last few steps to the culinary refuge that is your home - that was this afternoon's lunch experience. We arrived at 12:15pm on a Monday afternoon. There were three adults in our party and a reasonably adorable 7 month old girl who was not going to perusing the menu. There were about 6 other parties seated in the restaurant. After 7 minutes or so, a server approached us. He took our order and then the nightmare spiral began. This was easily the worst dining experience I've had out in the past three years. Now, to be honest, the following is all the whiny bitching of a comfortably well off person. But if you're considering going here - be warned. The following rant should be read in the tone of the guy at the gas station who warns the carload of partying teenagers NOT TO GO TO THE OLD WITHERS' PLACE!!! My friends ordered an appetizer - it took 30 minutes for the appetizer to show up. As it was a relatively hot and humid day in Maryland where being outside is the rough equivalent of being on the roof of a panting dog's mouth, our drinks were already either going or gone. It took another 35 minutes for the entrees to show up. At some point in between sad emoticon 1 and sad emoticon 2, the server noticed that our drinks were flatlined and said he'd get us refills. Sadly, that was not to be. Now, a moment here for those of you who don't have the experience of dining with even the most likable of infants - your meal is literally a race against time before the smiling cherub next to you turns into a Game of Thrones tyrant. If we'd been able to eat and roll, this review wouldn't ever see the light of day. But our time there to grab a quick lunch ran to two hours, with us reduced to gulping down the soggy ice cubes so that dehydration didn't claim us whilst trying desperately to keep our youngest member appeased. After we were done, it was another 15 minutes before we even saw our server. To be fair, at some point the number of other parties went up as high as 10 tables, but it looked like only one server was handling the entire dining room area. Never saw a manager, or you can believe that I would have said something, as one member of our group had to work an evening shift and wanted to grab a quick meal and nap before her 4pm shift. The food was fine, although why it'd take a minimally occupied kitchen an hour to crank out two burgers and a chicken strip meal is not something I can explain. In short - TURN BACK!!! THERE'S STILL TIME TO GO SOMEWHERE, ANYWHERE ELSE!!!

This is one of the worst Fridays I have visited. First, we arrived at lunch. There were only a couple of tables occupied, but no host/hostess in site. After standing there for a solid five minutes, someone came out to seat us. The service was sub-par and the food unremarkable. Besides that, the restaurant itself was dirty and dingy. The booth cushions were ripped and stained. I think this place needs a serious overhaul. By the time we left, the place still only had maybe 4 tables occupied, on a nice day, during lunch hour. That tells me something.

I have ordered to go 3 times. Every time there is something wrong with my order. They either take an additional 30 minutes from the time they say my order was ready or it has been missing something or BOTH. Dining in is much worse. The seats in the bar area are ripped up and the servers are RUDE. I WOULD NEVER recommend this location.

    (1)
  • Stan M.

This place was priced like an upscale place which it is not in anyway shape or form. Service was absolutely horrible. Apps arrived with no silverware, no napkins, no small plates. Burgers arrived raw after being ordered medium well. The buns were so soaked with bloody juice they were falling apart. Had to argue with the server to get them fixed. We should have known better, we only went there because all the other places in Columbia were packed. This place was so barren, we honestly thought they were closed or in the process of closing. My bet is that they will and should be closing for good sometime soon.

  • Darby P.

The food is consistently awful at this location. The icing on the cake was today when I called in an order. Being ill today I really wanted an offer of sesame Jack chicken strips and a wedge salad my boyfriend ordered cajun shrimp and chicken pasta. I picked it up, paid full price and went home only to realize half the order was missing. Dumb on my part I know, but I'm out of it and sick. The food we do have is either greasy or dry. I called and asked to speak to a manager. She was ok but non empathetic. TL;DR Don't eat at this shit hole. Go to the Fridays in hanover md much better.

    (1)
  • Xander S.

It was unfortunately understaffed and it took my group of 5 a long time to be sat and it took over 20 minutes to order. The food was average and bar food, considering we all got endless appetizers. The time in between orders took a while too. None the less, the service was slow but considerate given the situation. The bathroom was pretty gross though, I'll spare the details.

We had good attentive service. Our food was okay and arrived timely. But when it comes to interior set up, it comes down hill with the newly renovated Arundel Mills location.

Worst Tgi Friday's ever. No busboy. The hostess is hardly at the front. When we finally sat down no waitresses came by. We just asked the hostess to do take out. EWW worst experience ever.

Well, this was the first time that I have been here. First of all the server had no knowledge of the menu, I asked her if something was fried and she said "No, not at all" and clearly when it came out to the table it was. On top of that, we had just received our appetizer and she immediately brought out our dinner. We were not even finished with our meals and she came over and said "Are you guys going to just hang out here or are you ready for the check?" She did not wait until we were finished our meals, nor did she offer dessert. I am sorry but I am in the hospitality industry and have been for a long time and that is not how you serve people! I will never go back there!

Mid afternoon lunch on New Years Day. Maybe a dozen or so tables occupied. Wife ordered the California Club. I ordered the Cajun Shrimp and Chicken pasta - please hold the peppers. All went downhill from there. Drinks came - no straws. Had to ask hostess for them. Opened our silverware - my knife looked as if it had bird poo on it (see photo). How could that be missed? Appetizer arrived. Server vanished before we could ask for another knife as well as small plates. Entrees arrived. My pasta was loaded with the peppers. It also had shrimp tails/empty shells mixed in - you know, the part that is supposed to be discarded. Waitress apologized, then proceeded to tell me that the shrimp do have tails in that dish. Wow...... That has been my go to dish here, and I've NEVER found JUST the tail shells and tails in there before. Just overall a very disappointing experience. This makes two in a row - we will probably be phasing out this particular location.

The food service was a bit slow but overall the food was great. We were a party of 4 on a Saturday night so that can be expected. I did like the fact that the server still checked back on us even though the food took a little time to come out. Great food and Great service!!

  • Mike O.

Worst service ever the guy Michael ignored us after taking our order. When the food can out my friend didn't get the honey mustard that was suppose come with the burger. The silverware was dirty and we asked for a new set that came and the new set had food still stuck to it. All around bad experience I won't be eating at this location ever again.

I solicited my girlfriend for comments to add to this review but she was too busy grabbing a few more of the jack Daniel's sesame chicken wings (which I think is an endirsement). Serine was pretty attentive for a change and all food was hot. I gotta go, she's digging into the celery sticks.

  • Cindy J.

I am not a big fan of their food. However, my server was the most respectful, professional individual I have had in a long time. He was able to work a big group by giving us the upmost service. He was a constant. We didn't have to hunt him down. He was awesome.

  • Baron R.

My biggest problem with this place is it smells like they used a sour mop to clean the place. We just went tonight and the smell permeated the place. I did not notice it at first until my lady pointed it out to me. The food is acceptable, but why go back there when it smells like a garbage truck in 90 degree weather. In addition, the hospitality and customer service needs work here, as after requesting to be moved to a different table, the server/ hostess gave us a bit of an attitude. Never going back here.

Food was good but the server was a little overwhelmed she kept bringing the wrong food to the table and not checking back on us. I t wasn't very crowded on a Saturday night which is shocking. The unlimited appetizers for 10.00 we're perfect and the beer was the coldest I've had thus far. I will give another shot because Fridays is 1 of my favorites.

Great service at the bar. I ordered the jack Daniels steak. And the bartender recommended the upgrade from the flat iron to the rib eye. Everything came out quick and hott. I'm typically leary about ordering steaks at chain restaurants, due to ordering most steaks medium rare. It came out perfect. I ordered 2 margaritas they were decent. I will definitely go back.

This is by far the WORST location! We went here over the weekend. It was maybe our 3rd time going here--how quickly I remembered why we avoided this place. There is never a hostess at the front. Once the hostess came back, she infromed us she would see if there were any tables available; otherwise we could sit at the bar. This would be completely understandable IF the restaurant was packed. However, we were standing directly infront where there were atleast 15 free tables all along the center of the restaurant and the right side by the windows. We did not want to sit at the bar and the hostess said, she'd check again if there were available tables; otherwise we'd have to sit at the bar. She did not even offer for us to WAIT for a table. Luckily, a table became available. We sat, looked at the menu and decided what we wanted in about 10 minutes. In that time, no waiter stopped by to even ask our drink order. In fact, we NEVER met our waiter. We waited a good 20 minutes for NOTHING, then got up and left. **TIP TO ALL**: Save your time and headache and do yourself a favor and GO TO THE ONE AT ARUNDEL MILLS! We drove there and recieved superb service!

Went there for dinner at around 6:30pm, it wasn't crowded at all. We got seated right away and waitress got our order right away. Then we waited and waited and waited for our food. She just kept walking past us. Finally I asked the manager to check on our food and he bought it right out. The steak on the skewers was tough and crispy and dry .I think it had been sitting back there a while and dried up. They did not bring my husband all of his order so manager went back and got it. I used the ladies room and it was a mess. water all over, and pieces of pipe had fell on the floor from underneath the sink. The floors throughout the whole place are sticky. This is the second time we have had a bad experience here for dinner. I think they need to stick to happy hour as that is all they are good at. The manager sucks at his job. He should be aware of these things, they are obvious

We went to get some dinner (around 7). We got our beers when seated at the bar and ordered... The place was packed but other people seemed to be getting food - eventually. They were clearly understaffed on the floor and there were about 5 people behind the bar. We waited an HOUR AND A HALF for just the appetizers; no one came to check on us. We watched people in the restaurant area (3) get served their entire meal before we even got an appetizer. The appetizer was soggy and uncooked and they FORGOT the other one! We basically just said forget it, and asked to speak to the manager. He didn't come over to us (from the register because the waitress/bartenders had screwed it up) for at least 20 minutes. "Would you eat this?" We refused to pay and just left. HORRIBLE wait staff and I'd tell you about the food quality (even though it's just a Friday's) but I wouldn't know because I never received mine.

    (1)
  • Tiffani N.

Friday's is an old stand-by. I prefer their drinks over their food. Got a yummy Pomegranate Ultimate Margarita for $5, so wasn't too upset that my BBQ Chicken Wrap was lacking in flavor and freshness. Fries were decent but nothing stood out. For some reason, the staff always seems nicer to one another than to the guests. They're always laughing and joking, which makes me wonder why can't I get some of that love? Just sayin'.... We decided to go here than stick with Applebee's next door. Next time, we're going to Applebee's.

Never order food to go. I truly believe they recycle left overs from other customers plates. Ordered bone in buffalo wings and they had a combination of boneless and some with other sauces that I did not order. Which is utterly disgusting!!! I will never patronize this restaurant again. Another dump that needs to be shut down by the health department.

Went here Friday night after work with the family. Service was decent and the food was ok. It is your average chain sit down place. Nothing special to make it stand out but not the worst place to go get food.

I'm actually ok with this place. I know, the service can be spotty and food isn't spectacular. But hey, they send out coupons and I'm cheap, so I'll keep going here until I get food poisoning. I've been here a few times and I never venture into the odd food, I figure the further you are off the beaten path at a restaurant like this, the worse it gets. So I'll go all normal TGIF fare and I've been satisfied with my experience. Typically we'll start with mozzarella sticks or the potstickers and no problems there. Then I'll usually go with a burger or jack daniels chicken, and again, no problems. The wife usually goes for the dragon fire chicken and she says it is one of the best low fat dishes that she gets. Sure, at times my coke will be replaced with diet coke or our appetizer will come out with our meal, but hey coupons, and I'm cheap, so we'll be back. Until we get food poisoning, and then we probably wouldn't come back...or maybe I just wouldn't bring the wife.

This TGI used to be great, but lately it has been slow and they forgot my order altogether last time. Sad clowns came to town. :(

TGI Fridays in Columbia is a completely average chain restaurant experience. We often go there for happy hour on Fridays as they have half price appetizers. Sometimes the food is good, sometimes not. The service is very hit or miss, depending on which server you get. In all the times we've been there (guessing 30-40) we've never had a manager stop by our table and ask us how the food/service is. Perhaps they just don't practice this courtesy at TGI Fridays, I'm not sure. However, it'd be nice if they did it from time to time. I don't expect to be checked up on every time we are there but there have been times where it would have been nice to rectify a small problem. Biggest complaint I have is that one time I left my take-home food on the table while I went to the bathroom before leaving, I came back and they had thrown it away and didn't offer any sort of compensation. All in all, not a terrible place to go if you want some cheap appetizers during happy hour. Outside of that, bring a coupon (readily available via email) to save a few bucks during non-happy hour times!

Ok, my boyfriend and I might be a needy table at this time in his chemo- but lunch at 3:30pm on a Wed should be slow enough for them to accommodate his nutrional needs (he can't have anything spicey or really cold/hot). We told our waitress this too.So we ordered the pot stickers (which were ok but undercooked) a diet coke for me, a glass of water no ice for him(came out with extra ice) I ordered the chicken tostada salad and he got fish tacos. If you look at the menu it breaks down every single item on the salad and on the tacos. After a few bites he started sweating like crazy and almost threw up.They put jalopenos on his tacos- so we switched. plates. Two bites into the salad he found jalopenos in that too. We told the waitress and she apologized but didn't offer to fix anything. And didn't take anything off the bill even though both plates were completely full and uneaten. Crap service and crap food. Bleh.

About TGI Friday

TGI Friday is a casual dining American restaurant chain founded in 1965. The term “TGI” is an acronym for Thank God It's and together the name of the restaurant is often announced as Thank God It's Friday. Over the years of its existence, the TV commercials and other advertisement streams have also twisted the phrase a bit and used it as Thank Goodness It's Friday. The restaurant serves alcoholic beverages primarily. However, they are also known for their low-carbohydrate and low-fat menu items to promote a healthy lifestyle. TGI Friday also offers gluten-free items on its menu for those with gluten intolerance.

Besides the cool name, TGI Friday also has an interesting background story of its origin. The founder of the restaurant Alan Stillman lived in a New York-based neighbourhood full of a young crowd, especially girls from the airline and fashion industry. He started the first TGI Friday restaurant in New York in the hope of meeting single women as there weren't any such public place for young men and women to meet. He invested $5000 on his own and borrowed another $5000 from his mother to buy a bar named The Good Tavern and renamed the premise to Thank God It's Friday, inspired from an expression during his time at Bucknell University.
