Jimmy John's is my favorite sub place. Reason being is that they have the best French bread. It is what separates them from the competition. Potbelly, firehouse, Jersey mikes, subway, quiznos...not even close. Get the #9 Italian Night Club with cucumbers on french bread -- awesome. Jimmy's chips are good too and if you get chips and a drink you usually get a combo price. There is plenty of meat, but sometimes they overload it with lettuce and too much mayo, but you can specify what you want when you order. This JJ's is probably the quickest one I've been to. Shame I live just outside of their delivery radius.

Pretty cool sandwich place. I love the fact that they deliver. My daughter and her friend get delivery all the time and it's always on time. Everyone is very friendly.

I love this place!!! They are so quick yet still do not make mistakes! My favorite is the roast beef sub, which surprisingly doesnt have tubes and chunks, and the cold cut...I eat here often!

I went during lunch on a weekday. The inside seating is fairly small, but there were empty seats, and the many employees standing around the counter looked bored. I wouldn't hold that against the place, but I would expect a little more cheerfulness from the person that waited on us. I got the vegetarian sub and it was lackluster. Some of the reviews pointed out how good the bread is. I found their "world famous bread" (according to the sign in the store) to be tasteless and slightly tough. Any of Subway's breads would taste better, for instance. Perhaps their 7-grain bread would be better, apparently only available if you buy a more expensive sub. The fillings were also bland - including the avocado spread - and it certainly wasn't a stuffed sub with just a minimal amount of each ingredient. I was biting thru tasteless bread, lots of mayo, chilled lettuce, a tasteless tomato, meek provalone cheese, etc. (On a side note: The mayo, according to their website, adds over 200 calories. You might want to skip it and ask for spicy mustard instead - less calories and more taste.) I added the kettle chips which were crunchy and very good. I'd be open to trying more things there, but there isn't much for a vegetarian beyond the one sandwich. Perhaps, this sandwich doesn't show them at their best. But from this one experience, the restaurant boasts style in its signs, offering the appearance of history, uniqueness, and world-famous excellence. The substance fell short.

The fresh baked bread was awesome! I ordered a #9, Italian Cold Cut, with the works. My taste buds are still salivating. The chips were substantial, crunchy and excellent in taste. The chilled dill pickle was just the right compliment to the sandwich. The sweet iced tea is to die for! The preparation speed was incredible. I had my order delivered shortly after I paid for it! Awesome! I would definitely visit this eatery as often as possible! The interior of the store had some very interesting and thought provoking signage. The tables and umbrellas outside were a very nice touch - very European! This restaurant is a winner!

For some reason I always thought that this was a hot dog place. Anyway, it is more like Potbelly's. We order two sandwiches to go. It was prepared very fast, and the food was good. Nothing in particular was great or negative, hence the three stars. Will probably go again.

  • Jennifer H.

Fast, yummy and good. My sandwich came out about 10 seconds after I put the order in. Great service!!!

Jimmy John's has the tastiest bread of any sub chain. This alone makes their subs awesome. It all seems to be high quality ingredients as well. As other mentioned, lightning speed is key.

  • Carina d.

Sandwich prices were low, and the portions were large. Since I was hungry, it hit the spot but wasn't anything spectacular. Service was friendly and lightening fast -- for a Saturday afternoon.

pigs will fly before we come back here. i forgot to mention that i also got a call from corporate but didn't call them back due to the utter stupidity and ignorance of the owner.

Excellent menu, love the Unwich option to lower your carb. It allows you to reduce your carb intake by switching out the bread for lettuce wrap. The prices are reasonable and ingredients are fresh. The staff is very friendly and portions are moderate...great place for lunch. The outdoor seating is nice. Great overall sub shop and experience.

(4.5) Jimmy Johns is pretty strong as far as fast, casual sandwich places go. I love the speed at which you get your order, the staff are always very friendly, and the bread is super fresh. I decided to write an updae because my previous 3 star review didnt quite do JJ justice. My favorite sub here is the "Bootlegger Club", which is turkey, rare roast beef, and provelone. It is super tasty, and won't totally kill you health wise if you eschew the cheese. They have also added a "light" chip to their chip assortment. It is not a baked chip, but it has about 1/2 the fat of their standard kettle chips, but maintain alot of the taste. Good food, good management, reasonable prices. Loses 1/2 star for seating (you have to really be aggressive to snab a table). They do a nice job on catering as well.

  • A K.

Rude, ignorant people that only care about speed. I was contemplating on a sandwich and the man working started to make it before i even told him what i wanted. I was like EXCUSE ME, and he never once looked at me while i ordered. Being younger, i get the rudeness a lot, but i NEVER appreciate it! I will never be back.. horrible experience, horrible customer service! I felt way too rushed, while at subway they let you take your time and choose the toppings on your sub.

This is my "GO TO" place for my office lunch ordering... they are fast, accurate, pleasant and seem to genuinely appreciate my business (which is more rare than you would think these days). I order for large and small groups regularly - everyone loves the food and I love the service.

Great place to get a filling vegetarian sandwich. The price is just right, the service is amazingly fast and the cookies are delicious!

  • Devon S.

Ehhh.... So this place is quick, but probably cause everytime Im there they have 20 people in the back and like no one in the line. ] Overall they are OK. I dont know if it's that I prefer hot subs more then cold, BUT if I am looking for something quick... I might go back to JJ again

  • Joey A.

Fantastic food and fantastic service! Great place for a stop-eat-go kind of day, especially if you are looking for some on-their-game service and great subs!

    (5)
  • Kirk S.

This place is absolutely horrible, there is nothing special about the very small dining room and mediocre service and average sandwiches. I can get the sub at 7-11, or subway which means yes Jimmy Johns is nothing but a fancy mini truck stop sandwich joint....the people that like this crap must not know how to make their own sandwiches in their own kitchen. An 10yr old kid could pile some lunch meat on some dry as loaf....take a trip to philly or nyc it Chicago if you want a real sandwich. Gimme a friggin break.

I have only gotten Jimmy Johns with delivery so this review is for delivery only. Jimmy Johns "so fast you'll freak" motto stands true. For the quality of the food and the price, they will deliver only one sub in about 15-20 minutes. The sandwiches are quality and their online interface is great. I would definitely suggest Jimmy Johns for their subs!

    (4)
  • Arthur K.

The service is quick. I like that the food is ready by the time I get my change from the register. I wouldn't say its even friendly, just quick - which is more than enough for a fast casual restaurant. Despite the quickness of delivery, the food isn't some stale dish that's been sitting around; it's pretty fresh. I've only had the roast beef here. It's meaty and really flavorful. The sub bread that it comes with pairs perfectly with the meat. The bread itself is surprisingly tasty. It's not as hard as a baguette (won't scrape your mouth), but chewy and substantial. The items offered are simple, but tasty. The restaurant itself is clean.

  • Traci P.

Good sandwich, friendly staff. Price is good. The set up is a little odd though. After I order my sandwich (having been there for the first time), I wasn't told where to pick it up or if it will be brought to me or anything. I went to go fill my drink, only I couldn't find any lids. Then I hear someone shout out "#4?!"... I assumed that was me, so I said yes and he handed me the wrapped sandwich. My order was to go and I wasn't offered a bag, which there was a stack right in front of the employee. I reache down and said "May I?" and he said yes. I don't know what exactly what was going on behind the counter, but all of the guys making the sandwiches kept giggling and staring at me... which was weird. I thought I had something on my face or something, but nope. I just smiled and walked out.

Best cold subs in the business, fast, and reasonably-priced. I've eaten at Jimmy Johns in Blacksburg, in Pittsburgh, in Harrisonburg (VA), and in WI before finding this place, and they're all the same: excellent and friendly.

  • Ernest P.

Only tried an 8" Turkey Sub, but other reviewers are correct in that the food is prepared at lightning speed . . . With that said, the French bread the sub was on was delicious. Kicks Subways ass in my opinion. Fillings were fresh and tasty. Enjoyed the Alfalfa sprouts to add an interesting bitter dimension, as well as some hot peppers for some sizzle too. Can't wait to try some of their other offerings as the Turkey Sub was totally satisfying and way better than Subway crap. Who knew.

Ordered from this place tonight for the first time after seeing that it delivers to me. Their commercials don't lie - they are incredibly fast. Exactly 10 minutes after I placed my order the guy was at my door! The sandwich itself was pretty good. Roast beef seemed fresh, condiments were tasty, and the bread was definitely better than the other chain sub/sandwich places I've tried. I wish the menu had a few more options, but they probably keep it simple so they can keep it fast. I'll definitely order from them again.

  • Ravon H.

Good subs and fast service. Their motto is subs so fast you'll freak! I must say they live up to the claims at this location. I order from here time to time when the weather is bad and I don't feel like going out. They always deliver fast and the subs taste pretty good. They are the same as any other jimmy johns.

Good damn, where have you been all my life, Jimmy John? I have been going to Subway and Quiznos. Somebody told me about you and now, I am talking. What sets JJ sub sandwiches apart from other sandwich stations is its bread and the available sprouts for additional fee. The bread has a crust in it and make it delicious. I finished the 8' inches Pepe. But the counter guy at this location who took my order was annoyed me. When I asked to add onions, cucumber, and other free fillers, he repeated the condiments like he wanted me to just get a simple Pepe. It's about time - I will be getting my JJ sandwiches for now on.

  • Andrew K.

I live in the 21045 zip code and they won't deliver here. I'm 6 minutes away according to Google. Where DO they deliver if they won't deliver to a place that close? I love Jimmy John's but the lack of delivery range is not cool.

    (2)
  • Greg M.

Again, couple of orders, items left off. Rude and uncaring delivery drivers, time to wait the extra time and move on to PotBellies. Only reason is the quick delivery, but if they are getting it wrong? WHY BOTHER!

  • Danny C.

This place has the FASTEST delivery I have ever experienced in my LIFE. Now, I know that it's easy to make a sandwich when everything is already available. HOWEVER, the same goes for Chinese food and sometimes it takes forever for my food to come even when it's not busy. As for Jimmy Johns, they have NEVER failed to come later than 30 minutes. Never. Their average times of delivering to me is 20 minutes. Sometimes they would come in 10 minutes, no joke. Yeah it's pretty close to where I am when I order but still, it's been consistent. The food is always on point. The outstanding texture of the bread and it's toughness to hold everything together for a long period of time before slowly succumbing to the juices of whatever sub you get. I usually get the Club Lulu which comes with turkey, bacon, and avocado? Or guacamole? Or neither?! Fresh ingredients, great bread, it beats Subway by miles. You can also get subs there without the bread but instead a lettuce wrap! Kinda like the In N Out protein burgers. Mmmm. :) Definitely a fan!

Got up at 4 AM to get to work today. A friend came over the watch the Kentucky Derby and was craving an Italian Cold Cut sub but neither one of us was wanting to go out (especially me). Jimmy John's saved dinner! Their online ordering system is pretty intuitive which was great because I didn't feel like trying to call in an order. The email confirmation came immediately after I placed the order. The time from placing the order to the delivery person at my door: 19 minutes. Sorry, no pictures of what we ordered. We dug in too fast for that. But it was good. I love their sub rolls. Soft, but no so soft that there is no 'bite' to them, just a little crunch!.

  • Brooke T.

It's a chain, you know the drill. I came in during lunch and let me tell you this place runs like a well oiled machine! I swear people were in and out within minutes after placing their orders. Can't say that the sandwiches are suupper special, I mean I have had better, but for what it is, it's perfectly okay for the price and what you are getting. The staff were cool, efficient but willing to slow it down if you needed assistance. This JJ's delivers which is pretty neat, too bad I don't live anywhere near the delivery area.... Le sigh. I'm trying a new sandwich next time.

  • Angel B.

My company orders from this place on a daily basis. The only issue I have with the service is that they NEVER put a napkin in the delivery bag. Sandwich is always delivered fast. That's the best thing about this place. Food is ok... I would consider pricey for the product.

  • Roger L.

The last time I ate here, they served me hard, stale bread. Really ruined what I like best about JJ, the bread. I wish they would throw out the stale bread and not serve it instead to the customers to get rid of it. Lost my business, I'm headed over the Jersy Mikes, down the street, never had that experience there....

Not impressed. In fact disappointing. Asked for a turkey tom on a wrap also got a drink and chips. Order made pretty quick, went and poured an unsweetened tea. Look for sugar and there is NO sugar. Only sweet & low if you ask for it. No thanks. Also have to request napkins. Found a spot outside to eat and unwrap to find a sub roll no wrap. Had to go back for them to fix and the girl said no wraps only lettuce. Huh? (She didn't speak good English). The guy next to her said you have to ask for that and so I said I did ask and also asked for avocado. So he remade and I went and sat down to eat and again I have a turkey lettuce with NO wrap and no avocado. Not good.

The food is good for the price. The staff all said hello as I came in. My cold cut was ready in a minute, seriously. They have no hot drinks and the doors guarantee you are cold or hot as the weather dictates.

Fast, fresh and easy. It took me longer to write this than to get my ever-delicious sandwich.

    (5)
  • Nelson R.

Quick delivery. A lot of people use them daily at my job so the quality of the food must be good enough for everyone. I personally love the sandwiches due to the quick delivery and simplicity. Prices are cheap too. Some people have complained about missing items in their orders but luckily I haven't had that issue.

  • Andria D.

The staff here is friendly and personable. The veggie sandwich is really good, but kinda pricey. I can get out of there with a veggie sandwich (cut in half!) and a coke for $7.25, or about $6.50 if I just get a sandwich. I really wish there was a vegan cheese option!

This is my most favorite place to eat. We eat here every sunday after the gym!! We still miss the sprouts terribley.

    (5)
  • Patrick B.

Pretty typical Jimmy Johns. Nothing special. I did notice that the place isnt very clean though. The tables were sticky and there was litter all over the floor. Something about Jimmy Johns is that they are super fast at making your sub, but with that comes a sacrifice in quality. The majority of their meats are not fresh cut. They are all cut in the morning and wrapped up.

    (3)
  • Mark P.

They have good sandwiches, they have bad sandwiches. The turkey Tom was a good one, and the bread they use is fantastic. At least 20 different subs to choose from and they are made by the time you get to the register, kinda scary, and you would think they were not carefully made or not much in them, but they are gtg. Not as good as the first one I went to in Denver, but still a nice lunch spot. Glad to see them popping up around Baltimore.

If you ask most... I am a Subway fan til' I die. But that's because there is no Jimmy Johns near my home in Glen Burnie. I discovered Jimmy Johns like 4 years ago while working in Columbia. I literally fell in love with Jimmy and John... or Jimmy John or John Jimmy ! I now work in Silver Spring and I frequently stop in Columbia for a sub for dinner!! The bread is far superior over Subway ( except the flat bread) and Quizno's( bleck, yuck) This is a in out place, not like PB or ABC!! If you don't know what get... step to the side and go over the menu. Because there are lots to choose from. I love the fact that they have sprouts!! Call and order for delivery your food is there with in 15 minutes...not sure if I ever had to wait longer, while I was working in Columbia. Now i will say this.. the lay is confusing... the drink lids, straws and napkins aren't with the soda machine. ... they are where you pic you sandwhich up, they are really bad at telling you your sandwhich comes out on the other side. LOL But whatever, I love JJ's

    (4)
  • Cindie W.

The best part about JJ's is their french roll! It is the BEST bread. It's always fresh, and you can also buy day old rolls for .50 a roll. I always get the Country Club, which is turkey, ham and provolone and comes with LTM. I always get extra mayo. I seriously could eat just a tomato and mayo sandwich on this bread. I have tried the BLT, Tuna, and the Veggie, but I always go back to the Country Club. Their Salt and Vinegar chips are probably my favorite kettle chips. I wish I could buy them in a bigger bag! Their delivery is super fast and also convenient. I used to work in Columbia and on days it was raining it's butt off and I didn't bring lunch, I would go online and order JJ's to deliver. Unfortunately I neither live nor work close enough to a JJ's that will deliver but I will definitely make a special trip just to get me a JJ's!

3 stars for the food 1 star for the service. I got no hello, no smile, no thank you, no interaction whatsoever. The girl taking my order made no secret that she couldn't wait to get done with the tedium of serving me so she could get back to the more important business of sitting in a booth talking to her coworker friend. There were seven, yes I counted, seven employees working at Jimmy Johns that day and not one. Of them exuded a modicum of "I want to be here." Perhaps they were bored? Yes they were busy but I think they could have gotten by with four. I have certainly seen Potbelly do so and they make milkshakes as well as sandwiches. The girl behind the counter was so unwelcoming I actually wamted to say to her, "cheer up. At least you have a job." And I am NOT the type of person to have that sort of interaction with anyone. I am, however, the sort of person who will call up Jimmy Johns corporate headquarters and let them know that the customer service at their columbia, MD location did not meet my expectations. And that is my plan for Monday morning. The sandwich by the wy was fine. The meats (turkey and cheese) were passable and better than average chain sub quality. The roll was crusty and delicious. Its just the mojo at JJ that was off.

It's been over a year since I've been to Jimmy John's in Columbia, so I took a quick drive over there this morning. Nothing much has changed at the Columbia location, and that's good. I can tell you one thing though: this location was packed for a Thursday afternoon. I never had the chance to try out the Totally Tuna, which comes with fresh housemade tuna, mixed with celery, onions, and JJ's sauce; then topped with alfalfa sprouts, cucumber, lettuce, and tomato. I went ordered that to go: a good choice indeed. The tuna fish was prepared well, the bread was soft, and accompanying vegetables played well with the overall sandwich. Employees were friendly, even with the rush of people coming in. It was good coming back to one of my former go-to spots for lunch.

Simple, Fresh, Friendlier than Subway and Cheap! You just crossed all your T's and dotted all your... lower case J's (sorry for the bad Austin Powers reference) when it comes to a good lunch spot for me! I first went into a Jimmy Johns in South Bend, Indiana and called to inquire about franchise opportunities in Maryland and Virginia only to be informed I was tooooo late! Some lucky couple had beaten me to the punch! Well kudos to you you because this place is a gem in this day and age!

I love Jimmy John's cause its the best quality chain Sub restaurant around. Subway sucks, and other places aren't as consistent when it comes to quality.

  • Le B.

Not sure what the hype is here.... Sorry the sandwich was not that good or even decent looking. Staff here was about as knowledgeable as a baby during first period algebraic. Whats strange is I really felt uncomfortable like I was being rushed to the back (if you get my drift) to get my drink and leave. The menu was like scrabble for meats and pickles. However the fountain soda was awesome, they should invest in changing this location to a soda pop joint.

  • Nicole G.

Nothing special. I was extremely excited to eat here. I got a BLT hoping it would be amazing with crispy bacon. Very disappointed to see that it was very thin MICROWAVED bacon. This place might as well be turned into a subway!

  • Frank G.

Jimmy John's sandwiches are made with speed, not love. If you want food fast, this is your place. I don't think they qualify as "gourmet," and their napkins claiming they have "America's favorite sandwich" are nothing but boastful and inaccurate. They seem to have a very high opinion of themselves. I will say that the ingredients are fresh (which should be a given), and I give them credit for having roast beef that is actually rare. The bread, however, is spongy and without an ounce of character. It's better than Subway, but only slightly. They could have a decent sandwich shop going if their bread weren't so terrible. Google Maps tells me that Bon Fresco Sandwich Bakery is two miles away, only a six minute drive. It would be six minutes well-spent.

My favorite Sandwich spot, IT is good fast and cheap. They make your sandwich in 2 mins no lie. It is fast and convient. Never really busy and in a convienant spot, You cant go wrong to me way better than subway. :) Stay Tuned!

  • Jaquisha K.

They didn't deliver my sandwich and the delivery guy lied saying he couldn't find my office. I placed an order a 5:45pm since I was working late. The front office is lit up with signs and everything. At 6:30pm the admin in the office said a car had been sitting out front for 15 mins. I called the restaurant and they explained the guy said he got lost. No he didn't get lost he was too lazy to walk to the door. Delivery means DELIVERY not I walk out of my building to meet you at the car to get my food. Severely disappointing...

Close to the best subs around town. Subway is like McDonalds to me, CRAP. Quiznos is a step up. and Jimmy johns is fast as lightning and is the best!

  • James J.

Great place to eat, they take your order super fast and the sandwiches are made and in your hand literally 60 seconds later. The restaurant is clean and the staff is courteous and FAST. And the bread is so good!! My favorite: #13

  • Jason P.

Tasty and quick. However, they are so set on "crazy fast" service that when ordering you feel rushed - when you tell them you don't want certain things on the sandwich - several times they've rung up the order and given me my total while I'm in the middle of saying, EZ on the lettuce, etc. Slow down on the order taking.

We go to Subway every two weeks on our way up to Baltimore and frankly, I get REALLY tired of it. So this time I was looking for something different. I found Bon Fresco, but alas, they are closed on Sundays. Drat! Jimmy John's sounded like the next best thing, so away we went. All the reviews about the speed of service are absolutely correct. However, I watched what was happening behind the counter and quickly learned the reason they are so speedy is that they have three or four guys doing an assembly line with the sandwiches and everything is pre-packed in paper, so they just slap it on the bread and move to the next guy. I'm sure that saves time during the sandwich making process, but it takes a lot of preparation time and it's a major waste of paper. I did note that when one guy walked away to do something elsewhere, he removed his glove, threw it away and put on a new one when he returned. Huge thumbs up there - I am constantly amazed how many food workers put gloves on to make food, but then take money, wipe their faces, clean counters, etc., with the same gloves on. Yuck! Anyway, our food was prepared very quickly and we were excited to try this new place. We got the reduced fat chips after a quick glance told us they were 130 calories and 5 grams of fat, not bad. We were very disappointed to learn later, when we actually ate our lunch, that there are 2 servings in that small bag, so we were duped into eating 260 calories of chips, which we simply would not have purchased had they not been sneaky like that. I hate that kind of thing. Too bad, as the chips were very yummy and exactly the kind I love, all crunchy, and folded over for extra crunchy goodness. Sigh... So - later that day when we ate our lunch we compared notes and both felt that the sandwiches were passably good, but nothing special. A little bland, perhaps. The meats were bordering on flavorless and there was little about any of it to call memorable. Mine had avocado spread, which I couldn't taste at all, though I did relish the alfalfa sprouts, which were delightful. That was actually the best part of the sandwich, in my opinion. Which is kinda sad... The bread is fairly tasty, but nothing mind-blowing. For those who are interested in this kind of thing, Jimmy John's does have a fantastic nutritional info website - it's set up beautifully. You can choose the meal you want, add or subtract ingredients and get it exactly as you would order it, and it gives you all the info you need to make an informed decision about your nutritional intake. Unfortunately, their diligence and disclosure has also been their downfall as far as we are concerned. The sodium in their bread is sky high, and although they do offer sandwiches made with lettuce rather than bread - good job there! - the sodium content is still sky high. And frankly the taste is just not there - there's no reason to deal with all that sodium for all the calories and sodium. Their sandwiches range from 400-900 calories, with most of them around the 700-800 mark. That's just too high for my taste. And the sodium is off the charts. And for a bland-ish sandwich that was okay, but nothing special it's not really worth it. They get three stars from me because I know I am being very critical and if I had just walked in, sat down and eaten without thinking about the content, I would have though, eh, it's all right. I would have gone back, but not been in a hurry about it. I would have ordered a little differently and been specific about what I wanted and seen if the flavor improved, given them a chance to show me a better taste. So I am rating on that - but I wanted to provide the other information because to me, at least, it's important. I can't be the only one. If it's not to you - hey, go have a sandwich. They're not bad.

Second trip to Jimmy John's, a very memorable tuna sub the first trip and the best try at an Italian cold cut in Columbia I have found yet. Speedy service and a good value, Jimmy John's will make you forget Subway exists. I really enjoy the chips, nice and crunchy. The other reviewer who commented they were too hard needs to start brushing with sensodyne.

Got carry out lunch from here. I got the Beach Club sans mayo. It was ok. The ingredients were of good quality, but there was waaaay too much guacamole on the sandwich and I didn't find anything about it super impressive. I don't know what else I was hoping for, but I was left feeling unsatisfied with my lunch.
