And in conclusion............ Jesse Wongs has the best vegetarian meat substitutes. Most places just use tofu and tofu is the worst meat substitute unless you enjoy squishy white blocks. My favorite is Vegetarian Orange Chicken. Its not on the menu, but ask for it.

I thought I had reviewed Jesse Wong's before, as I've visited a few times in the past few years. It never made much of an impression on me.The general consensus in my family was that it was "fine but forgettable". (Hence, my forgetting that I never wrote a review, I guess!) Well, I visited again the other night (thanks Groupon!) and had a memorably good experience. I think it might depend on your order, or maybe they've recently stepped up the game a bit because I have this sneaking feeling we may have ordered the same dishes as we did on our last visit. + Flounder in black bean sauce = super flavorful and yummy. On the saltier side, but it's really savory and good. Just.. really super delicious. Trust me on this, I didn't want it to end. + Singapore noodles were also pretty yummy. My dad was confused by the larger strips of chicken (versus slivers to go with the very thin noodles) but I liked this a lot. + Get a Buddha Feast side. It's $7 and helps add some delicious veg in brown sauce to your meal. Also our server was super helpful. She wasn't the kind of friendly server who stays by the table and chats for a while but still she was nice. She was polite and efficient, though, and I really appreciated that. Not sure if they still do this, but the last time we visited, they had live music on Friday nights!

So my roommate has been raving about this spot, so after racking my brain trying to figure out what to eat, I decided to try it. Upon walking inthe door, a waiter was coming out and said "how are you sir, take out?" and I said no eat in. So I continued walking in and another waiter asks the same thing. While I know they're just trying to be helpful and nice, please let me indicate why I'm here before bombarding me. It came across slightly as a "we hope you're taking out because we're ready to go home," but it was only 9 P.M. with a 10 P.M. closing time. Hold your horses folks! I will say the second waiter who asked me if I were there for takeout was my actual waiter, and he was very nice. He kept my water topped off and kept asking if everything was okay. Now on to the food. I ordered an egg roll, which came out in less than 2 minutes! It was a bit cold and tasted like it had been frozen. Meh. It comes with duck and mustard sauces. I tried the mustard sauce once, but it was strong. I've become a wimp when it comes to mustard. So many choices. I like the vast options for poultry, beef, shrimp, etc. that they have. I decided on the Duke Chicken, which has hot peppers, onions, and peanuts in plum sauce. The chicken was very good, and the peanuts and onions were an interesting yet good combo. I was pleasantly surprised. The only thing I'd recommend is turning up the heat. It was marked as spicy, and it has hot peppers in it. But it wasn't spicy at all. I like "American" spicy, which I know is vastly different from Asian spicy, so I was expecting a little more heat. I'll definitely be back here to try more.

A total disappointment with an expensive tab. Panda Express at the Columbia Mall is better and with the monies left over, you can splurge on cookies & ice-cream, then head on over to Maggiano's for their buy one get one pasta deal. My appetizer, Shrimp dumpling soup, tasted like the standard Chinese Won Ton soup, but with tender, noodle-wrapped shrimp. Nothing special, but enough to stave off my hunger, till the real thing arrived - a slow roasted duck with parslied noodles, at $17.00. Three smallish slices of duck and a leg, tasting faintly of Chinese Five Spice (Jesse's secret ingredient, perhaps?). The skin that lay atop, wasn't even crisp - shame on Jesse! Parsley noodles? Doubt that. More like a mound of ramen, stir-fried in an unappealing soy concoction. And I suppose, to make the plate look more worthy of its $17 price tag, pickled cabbage added an unusual touch to this odd arrangement.

Service was great... I was just disappointed with the food. I expected it to be better than just a typical Chinese take out food. I have the lunch special general tso with wonton soup. The general was ok the wonton was gross. My lunch date had honey chicken it had no favor to it. Very disappointed

The beauty of food Is that everyone enjoys something a little different than the next person. I'm surprised this place hasn't received higher marks. I have ordered here (delivery) 3 times, and each time, the good had been very good, hot, fresh, and delivery fast for a Chinese place. The sweet and sour chicken is not greasy and soaked with oil like many other aces in this area and the sauce is really good, similar to the kind you get in LA. The fried rice is also good and has lots of ingredients and meats (if you eat meat). I like it very much and will continue to order from here in the future. Also, serving sizes are more than adequate for the price.

I have here before the food is very delicious very fresh and everything comes out very very delicious this is the best restaurant outside of PF Changs one of the best restaurants for local Chinese food I highly recommend it the staff are very friendly and they do deliver

The beef with peppers and onions in a "spicy" black bean sauce was bad all the way around. Think soggy, old Chinese food sitting in metal bins at the mall. First off, not even a pinch of spice and no I don't drink hot sauce every day or anything, it's not spicy at all. Four packets of hot mustard later couldn't even help this dish. The beef was chewy, greasy and did not seem of a good quality. The peppers and onions were extremely overcooked and soggy. The rice was ok, my rice cooker at home does better though. The spring roll was nothing special. Staff was friendly enough. Honestly avoid every single asian place in howard county, it's ridiculous how bad they are.

This is a descent take out "asian" food place. They have some creative menu items (always a plus) and the food was there much faster than I expected. We got an order of vegetarian spring roll (one per order, but I didn't try it) and an order of Crab Rangoons. The Rangoons were not bad- sort of fried wonton with a creamy filling - but did not have any crab taste to it at all. Still, for under $5 it was enjoyable, just know what to expect. For dinner, we split to entrees. There was an order of a honey shrimp - kind of coated, not really fried, very large fresh shrimp served with a small salad. It was a light entree, but very tasty, and even for take out - had a nice presentation. The other entree was an order of eggplant. These were great - crispy fried eggplant with a tangy sauce. The thing is, thats all it was - and if I hadn't split it, it would get a bit old before you got to the end. For all this - I handed $40 to the guy at the door including tip. Now - as a heads up on this place. They have two pricing schemes. One is for in house and carry out - the other is for take out. So if you're online, make sure you use the right menu.

I went with a friend at late night, I enjoy the ambiance, they have live music! Good place for gathering. We ordered wonton soup and spring role for appetizer, srping roles are good, wonton soup is normal, taste plain. For entree we ordered Chef Xu's Chicken and Flounder with Pecking Souce, both of them are good, not that salty compare to other Chinese places. Recommend Chef Xu's Chicken.

Even though this place doesn't do weekend buffets anymore which I'm VERY upset about, their food is still top notch. Maybe I'm just lucky every time I go there but from their service to their food, it's been the same; superb. HOWEVER, I don't recommend getting their take out. I'd recommend you eating there, inside. Why? Well first off, the food will be fresh(er) compared to getting take out, driving home, then setting up the food and THEN eating it. Also, I believe in some Chinese restaurants that there is a chef for dining in and a chef for take out. I've eaten in and got carry out from there before and I can tell a difference. What I really like about this place is that they have an extensive menu and some of their dishes are unique to it's counterparts. A dish that has filet mignon? I'm talking about a real filet mignon steak on a dish, not the kind in Chinese sauce. They also have numerous seafood options you can't find anywhere else like Soft Shell Crab and sometimes even Monk Fish! Everything I've had here was either great or amazing, nothing less. Getting take out wasn't the best for me because by the time I came home with the food, the crunchy wasn't crunchy, the flavors were meshed up and the veggies were overcooked to the point where it's nutrition is non-existent. So I only go to eat there and I've never been let down.

They have some great Asian meals!! Service was excellent as always. It's a joy to hear the waiter speak Japanese with my Uncle!!!! I had the boneless brown duck Which came with noodles and slaw which was very tasty. I will try again to make sure it was the duck! Lol

You will not have Asian cuisine in this echelon anywhere else in the area. They have original dishes and long tested favorites with their own twists. Cannot be stressed enough, the dishes are PHENOMENAL. The dining area is relaxing with smooth music, refined decor, and tasteful use of mirrors that visually enlarges the restaurant. The service is classy and attentive. Stepping inside I was instantly greeted along with a feeling of being under dressed. You rarely encounter service of this caliber and you will appreciate it immensely. You will have the Boneless Orange Duck. Duck easily dries out but this was perfectly cooked on a bed of fresh sautéed spinach and sautéed mushroom caps. Delectable!

I was visiting Maryland for the day and my crew wanted to go to an Asian food restaurant that was close by and affordable - and that's exactly what Jesse Wong's Asean Bistro was! Price - The lunch price is very reasonable for the portion that is being served; you won't be disappointed. Service - I've read a couple of the other Yelp reviews about their service and I have to agree with them. The owners and staff were really welcoming and greeted us very warmly. I had a large party with us and had a couple of questions and our waiter was more than happy to answer our questions thoroughly. Service is really important to me so - BIG UPS! Food - I don't remember all the dishes my table ordered but there was a variety and no one dish was horrible enough for me to remember. They all were very flavorful and had a nice presentation. I like the fact that they had the typical Chinese food dishes but also other dishes you won't typically see at any old take out Chinese restaurant. You definitely have to try some of their specialty dishes - you won't regret it. Overall, I can see this place being a go-to restaurant if you want to grab a quick lunch during your lunch break. The food is filling and at an affordable price! I would definitely return again.

Asean Bistro is what the game's been missing! What's the game?! ...American Chinese food!!! No mystery meats here. I've been a highly satisfied customer for the past 10 years and can assure you that if you're craving Chinese, AB is where to indulge. I've had many favorites over the years and most if not all of the many selections here are worth trying. Right now I am in love w the beef and peppers in black bean sauce (pepper steak). The beef (flank steak) is tender, the sauce delicious, the peppers and onions fresh and never overcooked. Carry out or dine-in the meals do not waver in quality. The lunch specials are generous portions; there will be leftovers! I enjoy the hot & sour soup with mine. Definitely the best American Chinese around.

So I've been here a few times now and you know what... the food is damn tasty. During our most recent visit I ordered the Kowoon shrimp (I think I misspelled that), which is by far the best dish I've had here. Succulent shrimp, ground pork, scallions, red peppers and broccoli.. all dressed in a light and savory brown sauce. mmm tasty! My girlfriend ordered her usual dish, the XO chicken in plum sauce. And as always, we ordered a few soups, all of which are fantastic.... especially the sub gum wonton soup (I misspelled that too). The only major issue I have with Jesse Wong's Asean Bistro is the interior. The place itself is old, probably one of the oldest restaurants in Columbia. And because the owners haven't really done any remodeling (or at least that's what I assume).. the restaurant is dull and dim. The middle of the restaurant is darker than an underground bat cave. And I have no idea why there isn't better lighting all around. Plus, the tables and chairs are definitely just ugly. Some kind of green leather with wood bordering. Finally there's this wall that circles most of the restaurant, leaving tables outside this wall isolated from the main dining area. Its just a weird setup. However, besides the actual look of the restaurant, the food is always fresh, well prepared and seasoned. The menu is definitely not your traditional Chinese fare and everything is always consistent, which means the chef hasn't changed.. .and that's a good thing. The restaurant is always peaceful, relaxing and quiet which I love because I'm kind of a hermit. And the servers are always professional and courteous. By the way, if you go... you MUST get the Mai Thai cocktail!! I could easily down 3-4 of those tasty beverages and call it a day. Yep, I'm an alcoholic.

A friend and I came here to use a $30 Groupon and were none too impressed. We ordered the deep-fried calamari as an appetizer, which was overdone to the point of the squid being tough and chewy. We also ordered two entrees: 1) Deep-fried Szechuan fish. The waitress came out with a large vat of sauce and a separate plate of deep-fried fish and green beans. To our surprise, the waitress pulled a lighter out from nowhere and promptly whipped flames onto the vat of sauce. We were so shocked at the flaming spectacle that we were rendered speechless. Only when the waitress said, "look, it's on fire!" did we start laughing. The entree itself was not super tasty, and the food had been over-fried to the point of being too tough -- similar to the aforementioned calamari. 2) Hunan beef over broccoli. This dish was a lot better than the others. The beef was very tender, and left us both ooo-ing and aaah-ing over how succulent it was. The sauce, however, tasted a lot like Magi sauce. I think I could just make this at home. Despite the food being subpar overall, service was excellent and portions were large. If it weren't for a Groupon deal, I don't think I would come here again, though.

My boyfriend and I just recently moved to the area. This was our second time ordering take out. The first time we ordered from here, about a month ago, everything was outstanding. We thought we had found our go-to Chinese restaurant. This time, I have never been so disgusted. I had a craving for something sweet so I decided to order a slice of chocolate cake. Much to my surprise I got some mold on it free of charge. Needless to say it has now tainted my opinion on the rest of the food. Do you not throw away spoiled food? This will be the last time I order from this place.

My new favorite Asian restaurant! The vegetables were fresh and they offer many vegetarian options. The general Xu chicken was not too bready and the fish we ordered was seasoned just right.

This is my go-to chinese place in the area, especially for lunch. The lunch specials are great deals, soups and egg rolls are great, and if you catch it on the right day, the vegetable bar is great. For dinner, its a little pricier and I dont think the portions are much bigger than lunch and they dont have the vegetable bar. Solid 4 stars for lunch, 3 stars for dinner.

I used to order food from here many years ago; I don't recall what I ordered back then, so I just read the reviews and made a few selections! The XO rice is literally THE BEST fried rice I have ever had in my life, SERIOUSLY, no exaggeration! I was not too impressed with the beef and broccoli. There was something different with their brown sauce that left an odd after taste, but the manager was extremely pleasant and allowed us to exchange it for sesame chicken, which was tasty! My husband had the chicken lettuce wraps and he said they were good as well. I would definitely go back; even if I want back just for the rice!!!

Awful! I got a delivery order from carryout menu from here and it was disgusting. Seriously, the food tasted like it was totally rotten. Avoid at all costs.

Nothing we ordered was good.... Egg rolls only has vegetables and no chicken or shrimp, soups were average, pork appetizer was dry and our main dishes were disappointing. We threw it all out. Sticking to china village for carry out.

I'm extremely disappointed with my take out order I just picked up. After a workout I wanted to load up on my protien so I ordered a steamed chicken and broccoli. It came out to 10 bucks. I get home and find that it's mostly all broccoli and a few normal pieces of chicken all covering a bunch of little scrap pieces of chicken. I mean come on man. I didn't order broccoli with a side of chicken. This kind of stuff makes me livid. I've been ordering steamed chicken and broccoli for years and never was it this bad. Sorry 10 bucks is too expensive for a tub of broccoli.

Came here pretty late on a Friday night. Maybe around 10 PM or so. Of course the restaurant was completely dead. They seemed pretty inviting. Got a crispy beef dish that can be a bit difficult to eat through b/c it had a caramel-type of sauce. I can't knock it down b/c that's what it's supposed to be. Very yummy. I probably wouldn't get it if you just got dental work done. Also got their pan fried noodles which was huge and had a lot of seafood and veggies. Given that we were the only patrons in there, I thought they would try to be either extra pushy to try to make a last big sale or completely ignore us b/c they're tired but neither happened.

The owners and staff are very nice, but their food is a little strange. I like the atmosphere there, not sure why, it just seems friendly and convivial. I've had a few fried rice and noodles dishes, they seem overpriced at dinner, and they aren't that special. I got a special last time, fried grouper in spicy thai sauce. It was OK, just way too greasy and heavy. The steamed rice was not sticky, because it wasn't the right type for thai or chinese food. Reminded my of Uncle Ben's quality. I enjoyed myself, but will probably just stick to the takeout place on Route 40, to the west of here from now on. Keep Yelping my brothers and sisters.

A couple women from work and I had planned to go here for dinner for weeks. I was very excited.. I had heard fabulous things from others that I work with and had studied the menu. The menu is huge! Our party dwindled down to three, so when we arrived they still sat us at the table of 5 that we had made reservations for. I was the second to arrive. When our third got there we sat there for about 15 minutes chit-chatting before we realized no one had come over to our table. (Not even to take drink orders or bring water.) It was about 5:30 and the place was empty, aside from a few 4-tops scattered throughout the restaurant. Finally my friend jumped up waving her arms which finally got us some attention. Not direct, of course but they must have told a waiter because about 3 minutes later our very..pleasant..waiter came to our table. This guy seemed so angry to be working! We ordered beers and I asked for water for the table. He came back with the beer, no water. I had to ask 3 times before we received it. Two of us ordered soup and an appetizer. One ordered an entrée. My coworker received her entrée the same time we got our soup. Which I found odd, but whatever. When the wonton soup arrived my coworker asked if they served any "crispy noodles". He said, "I'm sorry, we do not serve those with the soup." She said, "That's fine, can I order a side of them?" to which he replied. "It's against our policy to give them with your soup." Even if we paid. Yes, are you scratching your head. We were too. The soup was bland, which was expected since it's wonton. But.. Still not great. I ordered Veggie Steamed Dumplings and also Shrimp ones. The "Dumpling" was the most disgusting texture it was jellied and thick and slimy. Not what I'm used to at all. They had the tiniest piece of shrimp in each. Not a fan. No one was impressed with the food they ordered either. (Lettuce Wraps.. Pork dumplings.. Chicken and Vegetables..) I will not be going back - Hopefully this isn't how the service is all the time because I've never heard BAD things about this place and was very disappointed by everything.

After the disaster with our previous "usual" Chinese joint, we decided to give this place a try. Turns out, it was a pretty good idea! The staff were friendly, the order was correct, and the food was pretty good. Now, I haven't eaten inside as we've only ordered carry-out and delivery. Their delivery range is small (only 7.5 miles) but that's OK seeing as we're literally just down the street from them. The man on the phone/at the counter was friendly and made sure we had the right order several times before we left. When we ordered delivery, we were given a 40 minute wait time but it was there within 15-20 minutes. The food itself is decent, with no problems at all. The Crab Rangoon is a little less garlic-y than I'm used to, but cooked correctly. My wife and I have had the Pork in Plum sauce and that is really tasty. I love the Cold Sesame Peanut Noodles which are a favorite and a huge portion for an appetizer. My Pad Thai has a nice sweet and sour tang to it even if it spicier than I usually get. Overall, I think this place is definitely a great choice in our area!

    (4)
  • Saif A.

The pad thai was just plain not good. Not awful just not a pad thai. I know its not a thai place but thats what I was in the mood for. The shrimp with asparagus and Hunan shrimp were very sub par. Only good thing we ate was the coconut flan but for $7 its just way too much.

I wish I could say something great about this place but I just cant. It was just ok at best. We had the calamari appetitzer...just okay. Then I had the basil chicken...no taste at all not even basil taste. My bf got the seafood combination and in the middle of his meal a random server came running up to the table and took his food. "what was that all about?" she couldnt speak english to explain why she took the food and then our server said he didnt know what happened.... Obviously he wasnt that concerned about how this may affect his tip... Overall....i couldnt bare to go back.

Diaapointed again..... :-( The Honey Sesame Chicken was over fried and had a dirty, kind of nasty taste. It was too chewy and nothing tender about it. The sweet and sour soup was too strong or too much flavor... :-/ . It just seems like the Chef or Cook they have now isnt as good as the Chef/Cook before. Based on my efforts to eat here and wanting it to be good, I would NOT recommend this place anymore, it's just OK at best and usually you will be disappointed. It's a shame cause I live 1 mile from it.... oh well, I'm off to search for a new Chinese restaraunt in Columbia. One that doesn't ruin its food or has a decent Chef. PS - Dont bother with the GroupOn or other offers - they are dine in only and they are very picky about it. Their website has a 2 yr old coupon that doesnt work either. Service is good though...

I don't understand the low reviews! All of the food that I've had here is excellent - personally recommend the orange duck, asparagus chicken, chicken lettuce wraps, satay, szechuan string beans . . . on and on. Was just there tonight and experienced wonderful service from our waitress.

3.5 stars if I could. Standard Chinese food with some tasty hits. There's no "fusion" in the food itsself, but I guess it earns this classification from the Americanized plating, random steaks and Thai dishes on the menu, and lack of chopsticks. Oh, and ask for hot tea and you get *one* cup and tea in a coffee pot. Soup, among other things, is overpriced. Staples like corn soup and hot and sour come in small bowls at $2.50, while dumpling soups (only 3 small hargaos and a teeeeeeny sprinkle of fresh shitake) are $5. Avoid the steamed dumplings. Duck was tasty, sauce was missing the sweet factor. Chicken was the favorite protein of the night--get the honey sesame, or basil chickens. Hawaiian steak was surprisingly well flavored and seared for a Chinese restaurant. There was a live jazz band in the background, which added a nice touch to the ambiance. What really made me like this place was the nice service. The waiters were very, very fast in all our requests (despite being a party of 10 and having many alcohol-related needs), and manager adorably came out to check on the timing of our drinks and cake. He even had a band member sing "Happy Birthday" to our lucky girl. Overall, Asean's friendly, accommodating service really set them apart from being just another Chinese restaurant. If they were to lower their prices a smidgen and condense the menu, it'd rate a lot higher. **FYI--Coupon on their website for non-weekend trips!**

This place is more like a 3.5....1 star for the service but 4 for the food. First time we went there was a Friday and they were fairly busy. We had a very nice young gentleman for our waiter, but unfortunately, he was as nice as he was slow. He kept forgetting to get utensils and my husband's drink orders. We ordered the General Xu's Chicken and Shrimp Curry--both were super delish! For an appetizer we had the dumplings in red sauce and for that order alone, definitely 5-stars for flavor! Just the right amount of spicy with lots of crunchy toasted garlic on top..and that sauce... we kept it after eating all the dumplings were consumed just to dip whatever into it. We've also tasted their pork with mango curry--awesome flavors and will definitely order again--and the pork with lemongrass--also quite unique flavors super yummy. Second and third time we went, we had the same grumpy, just worst attitude waiter of all time: *Never smiled or greeted us after we were seated. *Asked for our drink order, but never asked if we wanted any appetizers to start. *Never came back to check on us to see if we needed anything *Never asked if wanted desserts ***WORST OF ALL*** When he grabbed our tab, he counted the cash out loud and was doing the math in front of us and was actually counting to see how much his tip was!*** AWFUL WAITER ETIQUETTE*** Definitely needs WAITSTAFF training. Though the saving grace was the Manager who was there on a Saturday evening, he was the most polite and most accomodating. He was the one that checked up on our food and made sure we got the brown rice we ordered. He needs to pass on his good service skills to his waistaff. Here's to ordering their yummy food.....FOR PICK UP!

This was a solid 3.5 dining experience. I've been wanting to check out this restaurant for months and last night I did so with a friend for dinner. We arrived around 6:30 and were seated immediately. The restaurant is located in a shopping park with Royal Farms, Baskin Robbins, barber shops and a UPS store but step inside and your greeted with soft lighting, simple modern Asian decor and live jazz music. (which seemed a little out of place but enjoyable). Our server was awesome, she answered all of our questions thoroughly and kept us happy with refills and drinks. I started with the Baby Lamb Chops (7.95), marinated in roasted garlic and olive oil they were very tender and delicious. Reluctantly I shared with my friend, when they say baby they mean it, three bites and it was done.I could have eaten three easily. My friend had the Fried Calamari (7.50), it was OK, I was surprised by the paltry portion as there were more or as much battered and fried pieces of red and green pepper as pieces of calamari. For our entree's my dinner companion went with a chicken dish (about 13.00) which I did not try but he said it was good. It was a healthy portion and looked great. I decided on the Hawiian Steak (24.00), nice, very nice. A healthy 16oz NY strip Marinated overnight in pineapple and spices served with Asian veggies, it melted in my mouth. The sweet marinade combined with the caramelized grilling sent me into food orgasm, I'll go back for this one. And for desert my friend had chocolate mousse cake (not my first choice dining in an Asian restaurant but my friend is chocoholic) and I dared to try the Mango Sorbet, a frozen 1/2 mango scooped out and filled with mango sorbet. It was great. the mango was smooth and refreshing. With drinks the check came to 90+ bucks, expensive for casual dining, and they could bump the portions up a notch but very good food and great service. Asian fusion has won me over. Two thumbs up For Jesse Wong's Asean Bistro !

Horrendous service. The server/waiter came to take our order after 30 minutes, and that too after we made a point to wave him over. And this was on an afternoon and the weekend rush just hadn't arrived yet. The order took longer to get to the table and we were hardly noticed/looked after during the meal. As for the food, it was very disappointing and was way too fusion [read Americanized] for our taste. I guess I thought Asean meant Asian. Never going back there again, even for a free meal!

Jesse Wong's Asean Bistro is an occasional takeout destination for my team at work, though sometimes we choose to eat in the restaurant because of their extra lunch buffet. If you order a lunch special ($5-7), it comes with soup, and also allows you to grab a plate from the small hot buffet of vegetable dishes. This time, we had the options of sauteed cauliflower and baby corn, sweet and sour tofu, and creamy sauteed cabbage. Her plate: General Tso's chicken lunch special, with wonton soup The wonton soup broth is practically flavorless, and the wontons don't really make up for it. Two of my three wontons were noodle only, no filling. The chicken is better than some, but not all that great. The chunks of dark meat are nicely cleaned, but a little overcooked and not tender enough. There seems to be a little too much batter used, though it does stay on nicely. In all, not one of my favorites - though service is good and the menu is extensive.

The food is really good. I had combinations fried rice. I love their rolls over there. The place is nice inside.

Updated my review to 4 stars. Hubby and I got a groupon and used it on Friday night. There were a lot of diners and only had a few tables open. But they also had a good amount of servers. Our server was AWESOME! He was very friendly and very attentive. There was a live jazz band playing that night and they were very good. We tried the squid on the griddle appetizer and it was sooo delicious. Better substitution for fried calamari. The entree portions are huge and we ordered the same ones that we had last time. We didn't get to finished our food so we took it home and such a nice surprise that our waiter packed us rice to go with our leftover food.

I can't say enough about the Jesse Wong's Asean Bistro in Columbia. In my experience, many restaurants in Columbia seemed to be dumbed-down in order to cater to families and more bland palettes. Thankfully, Jesse Wong's Bistro doesn't uphold this negative stigma. I have dined here many times and have yet to have a bad meal. The hot and sour soup is the best I have had to date. There are the usual Chinese classics on the menu, as well as many less conventional dishes: such as the Kowloon shrimp. This shrimp dish incorporates colossal sized shrimp, with ground pork, thrown in a fragrant chili sauce - amazing. Another staple is the duke chicken, Wong's rendering of a kung pao dish with a thick hoison-plum sauce. The scallion cake with chicken and string beans is perfect. Usually scallion cake is overly greasy and mushy, but Jesse Wong's does it right. One of the noodle dishes I tried was very bland but I am just not able to remember which one it was. It may have been the Malacca noodles, but I will do a follow-up review to confirm my suspicions. Also noteworthy is that on most Friday nights there is a live jazz trio performing at the restaurant as well.

My first impression was the typical tacky decor that seems prevalent in many asian restaurants. Second, I noticed that the prices were slightly higher than most asian restaurants. The food was pretty good but, not outstanding. The service was fair

I hate that I can't write a positive review, but I have dined at this restaurant for over a decade. My last trip terrible. In the beginning they had the best Asian food in Howard County, but now it is clear they don't care as much as much anymore. My kids staple dish is Sesame Chicken, they love it usually, but this time it was awful. The sauce was very dark with almost a burned taste, pad thai was bad, our Crispy eggplant wasn't right and neither was our boneless chicken hunan style. I am usually adventurous in ordering, but at this restaurant we order the same thing for 10 years. I was really disappointed when our waitress just ignored my concerns the whole time too. She seemed to think I was making it up or just pretended she didn't understand me. Unfortunately, I will be trying other Asian Restaurants now. Hopefully they can fix the problem.

Don't know about menu items, but if the Sunday champagne brunch is any indication, they must be amazing. My wife and I love this place on Sunday mornings. The offerings are diverse and tasty. This is not your typical Chinese buffet. The pastry table has no less than twenty selections. Be sure to get there early. The line to get in grows very quickly. I don't think they take reservations, but I've never tried.

This review is based on what I think were some poor food choices on our part. We saw other dishes coming out that would have us coming back to try, but anyway, here's the review of what we had. Atmosphere - Love the Jazz music on weekends. The place is clean and decorated well. Service - Very good for an Asian restaurant. Very attentive to refilling your glass and meeting any special requests (more lettuce for the wraps, please!) Food - Based on what we ordered = typical Chinese take out. Which was disappointing because if that's what I was in the mood for, I would've gone to my local hole in the wall and gotten the same food for literally half the price (plus gotten soup AND an egg roll!) Chicken Lettuce Wrap Appetizer - Decent, but the sauce in the filling was too heavy/syrupy. Hubby actually made the comment that he preferred PF Chang's and I agree. Chang's is lighter and you taste more of the chicken and vegetables. Supreme Crispy Eggplant - Ordered based on a friend's recommendation. In fact, this is the reason we chose to come here. Huge, huge, huge disappointment. I expected lightly coated (hence, crispy) chunks of eggplant. What I received was a heavy batter (think sweet and sour chicken) covering thin slivers of eggplant. The batter was at least half an inch thick covering a paper thin slice of eggplant. I couldn't even taste the eggplant. I was very unhappy and felt very bloated after only 5 or so pieces... Honey Sesame Chicken - Surprisingly the lightest dish of our meal (and it was expected to be the heaviest). Lightly dusted chicken chunks in a typical sesame sauce. Chicken was crispy, but not battered so you knew you were eating chicken. It was very good but not good enough to order again. With all this being said, you'd think I'd give the place 1 star. However, the dishes we saw going to other tables looked delicious and more on par with the quality of food we expected. The shrimp dishes had generous portions of very large shrimp, the vegetables all looked fresh and colorful. We plan to come back and make better choices at some point. Hopefully then I can update this with a higher rating.

I work around the corner and finally placed an order for carryout today to try Asean Bistro. Very underwhelming. I ordered the salmon in ginger and scallion sauce and a side of garlic spinach with brown rice (I am trying to eat healthy, or else I probably would have ordered something else). The salmon came in a huge portion with several small filets in a mediocre sauce. The salmon did not seem fresh or good quality at all, and tasted OKAY. That was $16 bucks right there wasted in my opinion. The garlic spinach was pretty good, but that is hard to mess up. I was not impressed at all. And since I spent $25 bucks on this huge amount of disappointing food, I refused to waste it and had to eat it for dinner too :( Hopefully their other dishes are a little better. Maybe I will try the lo mein one day, but doubtful.

I've ordered from Asean Bistro for several years and they have a huge menu and some great dishes. * Egg Rolls * Shrimp Toast * Malaysian BBQ Ribs * Crab & Asparagus Soup (to die for) * Chef Xu's (think General Tso's) And some pretty bad dishes as well. * Crab Puffs * Steamed Dumplings * Crab Rangoons * Any of their beef dishes (to be expected from an Asian restaurant) We've chosen Asean Bistro for many years because of the staple dishes and the consistent food. Unfortunately, given the hit or miss results from their dishes it's important that you learn the menu and expect to get some bad with the good. Recently, we ordered two Crab & Asparagus Soups (with our regular dinner order). The soups were extremely salty. So, we had to throw them out (note: I like really salty food). Given our consistent loyalty to the restaurant, I decided to call and inform them of the problem. Unfortunately, I had a terrible experience with the manager who took the call, he refused to give us credit ($10.00) for the two soups because we didn't save the product. I explained that was doing him a favor by calling in the first place (we never complained about other mediocre or bad dishes) and that we were regular customers spending around $40 per delivery order. He was insistent that if only we would have saved the soups he would have been happy to give us credit. Now, out of principle (and much to the chagrin of my wife), we've decided to forego one of our favorite restaurants. Anyone have a good Asian restaurant suggestion in the Columbia/Ellicott City area?

Aww... well, we've been here a couple of times and it's usually pretty good. So I think this place is really a 3.5. However, this time around, we were just a little disappointed with the meal we had. We ordered peking duck, shrimp and scallops fried rice, and duke chicken. The first two was pretty good... but the third one, not really up to par to what I've had here before. The peking duck was really good though, crunchy skin, and moist duck meat. Very good =) The fried rice was ok. Nothing really bad about it... but nothing that stood out. The duke chicken was a little disappointing in that it didn't have much flavor really. Lots of peanuts and hot sauce... but I guess we were expecting the taste of the chicken to come out even more and it didn't. The service wasn't too great this time around... the food didn't come until about half an hour after we ordered it. Maybe that's normal and we were just hungry? I don't know. Anyways, the peking duck is good. So will definitely come back here for that. I just know what not to order next time =)

Hit or miss depending on what you order, but overall I'm a big fan. Their pan-fried noodles is awesome and pretty authentic to how my dad makes it. Side of string beans (with the garlic sauce) is also super tasty - crisp, but very saucy with a healthy amount of garlic. Egg roll and wonton soup are bleh, especially for the prices. Sesame chicken is passable, but not my favorite. Service is also hit or miss, but I come here for the food.

For an extremely well-done and surprisingly inexpensive fusion-chinese lunch in Columbia, you can't really do better than the Asean Bistro. Believe me, I've tried. There are several lunch specials, each around $7 with soup. My personal favorite is the chicken with garlic sauce, extra spicy. The General Tso's and Orange Chicken are also very well done. But don't stop with the lunch specials -- most of the rest of the menu clocks in at $6-$9 and there are some more "homestyle" favorites on there (dry crispy beef? Yay!) Also, if you order an entree (including the lunch specials) the chef has thoughtfully prepared three additional dishes that sit, sort of like a mini-buffet, at the entrance. It's almost always tofu in a brown sauce (good), some sort of vegetable-salady thing, and spicy fried eggplant, which will completely stun you. In fact, if it's not on the buffet, I recommend ordering it -- it's knock-your-socks-off good. Anybody who's been unfortunate enough to get between me and a plate of fried dumplings will tell you that I judge any Asian cuisine by the quality of their dumplings -- and I pronounce the ones at Asean Bistro "good". The Dumpling Judge has spoken. If you can't escape the cubicle farm for lunch, try it for dinner. The ambiance is great -- it's quiet, cozy, and a good place for more intimacy than is possible at most Chinese places. The wine selection is great, just like the food. The tables are generally screened from each other, so you don't feel like you're in a big open space. The staff is very friendly and will get to you very very soon now.

I'm from NY, and so my standards for Chinese food are very high. Since coming to Baltimore 13 years ago, my ability to find a good Chinese joint had always been difficult. I stumbled upon this gem about 10 years ago, while visiting my accountant in the area. It's in a strip mall, but so are most good places in NY when it comes to Chinese. The inside of the restaurant is very pleasant and inviting. The waitstaff are universally friendly and efficient. I have tried nearly every selection on the menu, and regularly get the specials. My favorite dishes are the crispy beef(perfect crust, good sweetness, not chewy), the leek chicken, chicken in black bean sauce, the double pan fried noodles, the XO fried rice. All are consistently excellent. The general shrimp is another favorite on occasion, as is the peking duck, when it is in. This is my go to spot for Chinese in Maryland, and quite frankly, anywhere. We have been here over 100 times, and I would put it up against my favorite places in NY as well.

We came here because we had a Groupon and thought we'd check it out. The decor was nice and so we were encouraged. However, it was downhill from there. The egg rolls we ordered were gross. They were greasy and essentially ALL cabbage. I was trying to pick out the bits of shrimp and chicken to feed my 1.5 year old and it wasn't easy to find the miniscule pieces. Our main courses were a bit salty and greasy, but at least had some meat in them! The kicker though was when we got home... A couple hours later, my husband's and my stomachs weren't feeling great and our son started vomiting. He continued for half of the night. I can't prove that it was due to the food, but considering everything else we ate that day was eaten by other people who had no trouble, we personally will not be returning to Jesse Wong's Asean Bistro...

I just started working down the street from this location, and have been told by multiple co-workers this is the best place in the area to grab take out during lunch. I started going last week, and I'm definitely hooked. The lunch special price at 6.95 includes a decent sized entree, and your choice of soup, egg roll, and soda. I've tried half the stuff on the lunch menu which is all pretty standard americanized chinese takeout (fried rice, lo mein, etc.). The thing I noticed that wasn't so americanized was the wonton soup; which used traditional chinese wonton wrappers, instead of those super thick durable wrappers that cheap chinese restaurants use when preparing wontons because they can leave them in soup all day. I definitely like the wonton soup, it reminds me of mom's. It's too bad they only give you two pieces with the lunch special.

Food is fresh and delicious. My new go to spot for Chinese. Been here twice and each time the food was delicious. My only grip, they charged me for switching out tofu instead of meat, no where have they ever charged me for this. The food though is great, I just hope these folks don't let the recent reviews in the local magazines and newspapers go to their head, as the manager was not helpful in helping me with the tofu issue. (Trying to get over it.) Keep in mind this restaurant is not near the Columbia waterfront, they moved. I found out the hard way!

This is Fusion? Is that what drives their prices up? Or is it the pretentiousness of this place which sits in a small plaza that includes Royal Farms, Subway, and Dunkin Donuts. Many of their dishes are like the word Asean. Slightly tinkered with so that it looks different, but in essence, still pronounced the same way. For example, the wonton soup came out green. Of course, that demanded a closer quizzical look. It turns out that the soup got its hue from the chinese broccoli floating around. Upon a careful sip, it was tasty. It tasted like, well, wonton soup! Is it creative, innovative, or improved? Does it justify the price? No, its wonton soup with chinese broccoli. Asian or Asean, it still sounds the same. I give it a regular 3 starrs (-see what I did there). You can add an extra starr if you like the fancy get up and disguise.

I have been to this place twice now and my most recent experience was last night. It seems trendy these days for a restaurant that wants to be different and unique to blend various different kinds of ethic Asian foods and put them all on to their menu. I have no problem with Asian Fusion but if you are going to do it, then do it right and be good at it as well. The dining room is spacious, the live music makes it inviting and the wait staff is friendly and attentive. However, the taste of the dishes in my opinion do not warrant the high prices. If you are looking for cheap Asian food then don't stop here to eat. Keep driving to the mall to grab something at the food court because this place has some of the most expensive dishes I have seen at a casual dining restaurant serving Asian food. I had a Vietnamese spring roll, a bowl of won ton soup, an order of chicken fried rice, an order spicy crispy beef, and an order of the shrimp with black bean sauce. The spring roll was okay. I mean, I have had Vietnamese spring rolls at Vietnamese restaurants as well as other restaurants that weren't Vietnamese and their rolls had a little bit more flavor than this place. The won ton soup, this was pretty good. I liked this soup and it was different in that it had some Chinese broccoli leaves floating within the broth. I had to add a little hot sauce to give it some kick but over all, I liked this soup. The spicy crispy beef wasn't very spicy and it was way too sweet for my tastes. I find that at Asian restaurants these days a lot of their dishes are either too sweet or too salty. This was no exception, the beef was sweet and I could feel it sticking to my teeth. I ate it though because for that price, I was going to eat it all. The chicken fried rice and the shrimp with black bean sauce were the best two dishes I had. The fried rice was cooked perfectly, not underdone and not over done where the rice is tough and chewy. It was well seasoned and it did not taste too salty. The shrimp with black bean sauce was excellent. I have never really liked black bean sauce but this dish made me think about trying more items that use black bean as a sauce. The shrimp were large enough that I had to use a fork and knife, the vegetables that were mixed in with the shrimp weren't over cooked and had a little bit of crunch to them, which I definitely like. In my opinion, this place tries it's best at Asian Fusion. Some of the dishes turn out great while others are not very tasty. It's a nice place to bring someone or a group of people if you are into looks and somewhat high menu prices but taste wise....well, give it a try and make up your own mind.

I tried to full size peking duck today and I have to say it is really really good. You get 10 pancakes and a very tender and juicy piece of duck with really crispy skin. This is the closest place to my house that I've found with good peking duck and I will come back here again. I also tried the chicken with broccoli which is just ok. The pad thai chicken is also so so because it tastes different from the pad thai i've had in more authentic thai restaurants. For lunch, they also have a couple veggie dishes that are complimentary which is also an added bonus. I really liked their broccoli with some light sauce and mapo tofu which was free. The salmon dish with black bean sauce was also pretty good.

I have to respectfully disagree and say "Yes!" to Jesse Wong's Asean Bistro. NOTE: JW has two restaurants in Columbia. This one, and Jesse Wong's Hong Kong. "Yelp" has it listed twice; this is the correct address for JWAB; the other JWAB reviewed here shows the address for JWHK, so reviews might be confused as well. I said it all in my review under the other listing, but to be brief, I was sick to death of Chinese food, having had my fill of greasy, overly sweet slop. JWAB renewed my faith!

Usually, I love this place. However, Brunch is a NO GO! Eggs? What eggs? Champagne? We weren't offered Champagne. We weren't even offered water..Correction. 40 minutes into our meal. I asked for water. Speaking of asking, get what you want early because you won't see your waiter again until "bill" time. This is more like a buffet. I would love to go to a buffet on a Sunday, if I know it's a buffet. However, brunch indicates...Eggs or some type of Omelets?? The food was not tasty; It reminded me of day old bread. I have had softer noodles straight out of a Ramen Noodle package. The rice wasn't from last night, but from several nights prior. I will give credit and say that the fruit and dessert were good. Stick with the weekday meals and you will have a 3.5 experience.

This has been our "go to" Chinese restaurant for a long long time. The service is always excellent. Dishes are usually good to great. There are a few "misses" but they are few and far between. Whether we are getting carryout, or dining in, when we have a hankering for a chinese food in Columbia, this is where you'll find us.

I used to live right next to this place in some of the neighboring apartments. I would have liked to eat there more often than I did but it was very good. It's the sister place to Jesse Wong's Hong Kong which has now closed but had amazing dim sum! It's a great place that is a little more upscale than the average chinese restaurant. It's not fancy by any means but definitely delicious! It's been so long that I don't remember what I ate there but I do remember it was delish. Also, I'm pretty picky about my egg-drop soup and I remember that the soup here was great!

Authentic, fresh, and delicious food. We started with the vietnemese spring roll, Shrimp dumplings and Crab puffs. We had to wait 15 minutes but didn't mind because they are made fresh. The spring roll was flavorful and had the flakiest wrapper. For dinner we shared a Peking Duck and Double Pan Fried Noodles with beef. The Noodles came first. It was a huge portion perfect for sharing. The snow peas and other veggies were crispy but not raw; perfectly cooked. The beef was fresh, well portioned and tasty. The Duck was tender and good, skin was crispy and cleaned of excess fat. Best plum sauce in a generous sized bowl wrapped in light pancakes. Overall excellent experience. Can't wait to go back and try other menu offerings. Huge portions allowed for leftovers. Atmosphere was nice. Recommend.

Shlepped over to Columbia in search of edible "Chinese" food, based on high Yelp ratings. We arrived around 6p on a Sat. night. Place nicely decorated and empty. Seated quickly. Pleasant waiter brought menus, water, etc. Chose some std. starters (Hot & Sour Soup, Penang Won Ton soup, shrimp toast, fried pork dumplings), ordered what we thought was going to be std. Orange Beef. Waiter asked how we wanted our beef cooked. Alarm bells went off. Usually Orange Beef is breaded flank steak. Not here. It is $30 Filet Mignon. We quickly scanned the menu for a replacement made w/ the usual flank steak. Settled on Beef w/ Broccoli, extra spicy. The soups were okay . . .light on the premium goodies (wonton, meat, etc.). Shrimp toast was greasy, heavy, and not good. Pork dumplings were greasy, thick tasteless skin, and off-tasting filling. Beef w/ Broccoli was inedible. Beef tasted like rotten liver (we all know how rotten liver tastes!). Waiter was called over. Waiter called manager over. Manager replaced the Rotten Liver w/ Broccoli w/ std. Moo Shu Pork. Moo Shu was okay. Kid had overpriced chocolate mouse for dessert. Wife had overpriced glass of wine. Great service, lousy food. Mgmt. should have deducted Rotten Liver dish from bill, only replaced the dish. BIG dissapointment. Save your gas.

I have been coming to Asean Bistro for 5? years now. I can honestly say they are the nicest, most hospitable people in the restaurant business that I know! I have never had a bad dish here! If its not on the menu, ask and they can usually make what you want ( or something similar) My bf orders steamed chicken and broccoli with a side of black bean sauce...not on the menu but they are happy to make it. If you had a bad experience I advise you to go back, and give them another chance! (for you with the cold soup, sorry out of the 50 times i've been here the soup has arrived STEEEEEEEMING hot! and for the dessert, you can't expect everything, they are an asian restaurant after all, try the mousse!) My favorite dishes: *Sasha Noodles (sometimes they are made really spicy so watch out) *Duke chicken or BEEF * The fried rice (i foget the name of the special one but it is white w/o the soy sauce) * Peeking duck with plum sauce * Hot and sour soup and the Crab soup * Spare rib appetizer * CRAB RAGOON!! * Shrimp Bradley (I like it with rice or chow fun noodles) * cold sesame peanut noodles * crispy beef * the Chow fun * mousse dessert! My chinese friend's favorite is the Singapore noodles, she is CRAZY about them! (they are made with curry) Also they have a lovely piano player that gives great ambiance! The atmosphere is really cute! People, this is not your ordinary asian restaurant., and it is a little more expensive then most asian places in the area (just a warning) I think it is totally worth it though. They have specials and a buffet on Sunday? I think... I have come here with just my bf, and with parties of up to 20! Every time it has been just wonderful! definitely I may think it is a little more expensive because we always get an appetizer, soup and a few dishes to share (and definitely some to take home) Also no MSG, tell em!

I have eaten here 5 times. Most recent was last night. What a difference from previous visits. The server spoke so little English that we had to point to the menu. It took quite awhile to get food once the order was placed. I prefer a leisurely meal to the typical rush at most restaurants but this was a long wait. The Noodles with Peanut Sauce was served with angel hair pasta and not soba noodles. The Vegetarian Spring Roll had an odd taste, like the oil it was fried in was old. Main dishes were okay, plenty of food. The server rarely checked on us even though I only saw him working 2 other tables. Generally, the service is commendable. Unfortunately, I will think twice about returning for another meal.

Underwhelmed. Service was slow. Chef Chou's shrimp had too much sugar . Shredded pork in garlic sauce had no garlic. The prices in the restaurant are 2-4 dollars more than the carry out..... Unclear if the portions are larger. Water was nice and cold.

No, no, no, no, no, no, no. In addition to the extremely dry noodles I ordered (Singapore something noodle dish), my soup came out lukewarm and I could have bought the exact dessert I ordered at Trader Joe's for 1/4 the cost. I'd rather go to a completely Americanized Chinese place. Asian fusion just does not work. And during prime dining hours on a Thursday night, my friend and I were one out of 3 other groups of diners there. Please don't go here.

Jesse gets 5 stars from me for one dish alone: crispy eggplant. There is nothing else like it. It's delicious. The other food we've had from there is very good also but it could be awful and I'd still give it 5 stars for that delightfully crispy, spicy, saucy eggplant.

We were disappointed by our experience. We went out to dinner with certain expectations that weren't met. We wanted great fun drinks, interesting appetizers, green curry and pad thai. And we were with our friend from the Midwest who can't get these things in KS. I'll start with the drinks, I was looking for a good yummy fun possibly blue drink, something that warranted an umbrella and a pineapple slice. Their drink list was 1. uninteresting, 2. lacked descriptions 3. Just wrong, Since I didn't know what was in the other drinks on the menu (because it didn't say) I ordered a Mai Tai, I know what a Mai Tai is, what it should taste and look like. They brought me something that WAS NOT a MAI TAI. It almost looked like a shaken Mai Tai (all brown instead of brown on top of yellow). It tasted like rum, sour and sprite yuck. I sent it back and had to settle for wine. And I am not usually a send back kind of girl, I'll choke down most booze, but this was undrinkable. The rest of the menu was a mix of different Asian dishes, Malaysian, Thai, Chinese, and maybe some Japanese in there too. I was hoping for interesting appetizers like I've had in many Thai places, but there was not really anything very exciting. We had egg rolls and bacon shrimp. They were ok.... just ok. We were hoping for OMG wow these are amazing. No such luck. After disappointing drinks and appetizers, our main dishes ranged from alright to terrible. I had Pad Thai, it was basic, it was fine. My friend had their version of Green curry which was terrible...she said it tasted like green bean juice, not curry, coconut and basil. A lot of people seem to like this, perhaps it depends on your expectations and what is ordered. We will not likely be back.

I used to order food from this restaurant all the time because I thought their food was decent. Don't get me wrong--their food is alright, BUT DO NOT GO THERE FOR A WEEKEND BRUNCH! THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!!! We had a party of 6 including a 3 year old toddler (so 5 adults and 1 toddler). We went on Sunday around brunch time and saw that they serve Buffet. They charged $15.99(something like that) per adult and $7.95 for 3 year old toddler. And they added 18% automatic graituity for paty of 6 or more. Isn't that crazy? First, they charge $7.95 for a 3 year old girl whose stomach is like 1/10 of an adult. Oh well, if that's what we have to pay, we'll pay that. But listen to next one. Second, they charged 18% gratuity automatically for a BUFFET because we had a party of 6 including a 3 year old toddler who they already overcharged. When we saw the tip on our bill, we argued, 'isn't this Buffet?' and they said this was their policy and looked at us as if we're WEIRD people. We argued that we never pay automatic gratuity when we are at a buffet where we have to server our own food. Then they said, 'well, we served drinks' ..... so the waither stopped by our table once during our whole stay to serve 4 waters and 1 coke, and he forgot to refill the coke when we asked him to. My husband argued that it didn't make sense, and they asked 'then how are we supposed to make money?' So you guys are just going to rip your customers off. That's great. Since when a tip became a requirement? Tip is supposed to be a voluntary thing. I understand the restaurants have automatic tip policy for a big party, but c'mon we had 6 people including one toddler. And it was a buffet, we brought our own food. Don't me wrong, we leave tips at a buffet, but it just feels wrong that restaurant is FORCING us to pay it. It's the principle that bothers us. Anways, they didn't seem to be apologetic at all, and made us feel stupid about it. They just justified it saying that it's their policy. No way I'm going back to that restaurant.

Mediocre food and abyssmal service makes for a terrible experience. If you are considering Sunday brunch forget it. The selection is limited and rarlely refreshed. They open at noon, we got there at 12:30 and the Sushi was never refreshed, even after we asked about it. The server was clueless and when we had an issue and had to speak to the manager he was rude. Avoid this place...there are plenty of other asian food options in the area.

the best dim sum in columbia, howard county. one may argue what about the place in silver spring (sorry, i dont know name), yah yah i like this place cause it is next to the columbia mall (nordstrom), lake ()nice view, really) and most importantly good amount of people in and out. which can only mean it is good delicious or cheap. it is not dirt cheap. but it is good food. last fathers day we went and had to wait more than 30 min by then i got tired of waiting and resolved to a place in baltimore. anyhow, go try it!!!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
