Amazing family friendly diner in Chevy Chase. The chocolate pancakes are delicious. Excellent service and reasonable prices.
I went back yesterday. Same thing: it is like pulling teeth to get silverware from these otherwise nice people; as for napkins, you had just as well ask for dollar bills. They are extremely tight with the napkins. Yesterday I was given exactly ONE paper napkin. I probably could have made an issue abd gotten two :-) but figured it was swimming upstream at that point. My message to the owner would be: give more napkins and include silverware with every order. That really isnt asking much, and would keep your customers from getting aggravated. Thanks
Don't be fooled by the name "coffee shop." The Olympia offers a full breakfast and lunch menu, plus pastries, and a great selection of coffee. This place is a "must stop" for me whenever I visit Chevy Chase, and the prices can't be beat. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and there is always the feeling that everyone knows one another. I normally visit for breakfast, and it starts my day off with a great feeling. Give it a try and you won't be disappointed.

When I worked in Bethesda, we used to go this joint at least once a week for lunch. It's pretty damn good, greasy fare. The Special steak and cheese is good and sloppy, and tastes great. Good fries, too.
What a dump. No amount of perceived charm, accumulated grease, orange formica, or barely comprehensible conversation can make you forget how lousy the food is, limited the menu is, or how everything is coated in a film of bacon and oil. You have to ask for napkins, ask for plastic cutlery, ask for ketchup (which is warm - its kept next to the deep fryer), and dont get me started on the bathroom. I just hope there is soap in the dispenser where the kitchen staff go. Can i give it zero stars?

I work in this building so I frequent this starbucks weekly, if not daily. Everyone that works here is professional and friendly. It is a busy location, so they have to know what they are doing. I've never had an unpleasant experience here and the one or two times (out of hundreds) that my food was mistakenly not rung up with my drink, it was immediately prepared and given to me for free without question. There are only two drawbacks I can imagine. One, it is true that this location doesn't have a lot of cozy chairs like some starbucks, so if that was your goal to snuggle up with your drink for a while it may not be the best choice. And two, it is extremely busy at peak hours. I can't nail down a time frame for you but probably about the same as rush hr traffic you may want to avoid. 8am and 12-12:30pm you might hit a line. However, even if you do, they move very quickly here so it has never taken me more than 5-10 minutes of waiting (even if the line goes to the door). Side note: Nice, clean, big restrooms. Would be very convenient if you needed to change clothes while you were there!
When the guys run the coffee shop things are a bit slower- sometimes I get the wrong order and it can so busy so I don't want to say my drink is off- Like I purchased a salad and I wasn't given a knife with my meal? I love when the women run the afternoon -making a true cappuccino is not filled with a lot of milk. This is. Latte yeks
This Starbucks location is awesome. The coffee is strong and the baristas are friendly.

I'm a little undecided about this place. 3.5 stars rounding to 4. To break it down.. FOOD: Lobster Roll Appetizer - This was definitely the highlight. Lobster meat is perfectly cooked without too much filler or mayo. You get 2 per order and it comes with a side of chips. Our server said it was a special so I'm hoping they still have it next time we go. Crabcake & Corn - Crabcake was good; it had jumbo lump crabmeat and not too much filler but it wasn't GREAT. Corn was really (really!) good though. Rack of Lamb - Loved the pecan crust but the meat itself lacked the gamey-ness that is expected of lamb. Maybe the sweet demi glace sauce overpowered it. I guess it's good if you don't like gamey flavors. Portions are large so be prepared. Thursday nights are also half-priced wine nights. SERVICE/AMBIANCE: Overall very good. Our server was very nice but a bit chattery. Clientele is a bit on the older conservative side. The menu looks really good so I'm curious to see what else the restaurant has on the plate. There's also a Sunset Dining Tasting Dinner offered on certain days/times of 3 courses for $30.
I've never had a bad meal there. Their early bird special is among the best in town. I'd never thought I'd say this, but their chicken liver pate is pretty tasty. It's a quaint little local restaurant. Among the best in the burbs... definitely a good place to go with another couple to share some wine. Commenting on the previous comment regarding reservations... a restaurant generally wants your name when you tell them you have a reservation so they don't end up holding a table that'll never be filled. It's common sense.
This was our first time here and I've heard many good things about this little cozy spot in Bethesda. Being that it was restaurant week, it told me to finally check this place out. Restaurant week wasn't even needed to get their special going on now, which is a 3-course meal, Sunday through Wednesday for $30. My assumption is they still serve their full menu, just that the portions might be a little smaller. When we arrived for dinner, which was just after they opened, the restaurant was empty and they sat us between two other tables in the middle of the "aisle." We felt as if were smashed between tables. Initially it was fine, but as our dinner went on, we felt kind of uncomfortable and the volume just got louder in the restaurant, due to the many conversations going on at once. The server came by and spoke about their specials and what their menu had to offer. Out came their bread and chicken liver pate spread. I didn't expect this, but it had a very interesting taste. Our water glasses were always topped off and the server always checked back on us. My meal consisted of: steak tartare w/ quail egg, pecan crusted rack of lamb, and a chocolate cream pie martini (as they called it). Steak tartare - I've had better. Each bite I took with the piece of toast it was served with, I lost the steak taste. I felt like it was a tad under seasoned and could've been better. Lamb - I enjoyed this dish and the lamb was cooked perfectly. Best of all, it was not game and I typically don't order lamb (but what the heck this time). The demi glace was a decent. I really enjoyed the potato au gratin it was served with. Chocolate cream pie (or whatever it was called) - This was basically chocolate pudding, served with delicious crumbled crackers of some sort, sitting on top was whipped (stiff) cream. Tasted pretty good, the crumbliness meshed well with each bite. The wife had the crab cake, served with bacon mashed potatoes, and a roasted corn mixture. The crab cake was a little bland and I took a bite of the bacon mashed potatoes and I couldn't taste any bacon. So I tried again, still couldn't find that taste. I did enjoy the roasted corn mix. Another companion started off with the braised short rib. This was excellent and I recommend this dish. Real tender and the meat was seasoned very well. Overall, a solid 3.5* in my books. I would visit this place again, as their special for $30 is a pretty darn good deal for what you get (don't know how long it'll last though). Service was good, couldn't complain and the food was presented nicely. Recommended if you're in the area.

Cabin Fever! That's what you get when it snows 25" in your neighborhood! My neighbor needed an espresso and I had nothing better to do than watch The View, so I decided to keep her company (and check out how bad the roads really were). This location is really a neighborhood hot spot. It was busy (every table taken), but there was no wait for our beverages. The barista was friendly and quick - he had a great attitude for such a blustery day it was. They have WiFi, but I think it is only free for two hours if you have a registered Starbucks card. No problem for me. As a teacher it's the number one card I get from parents of students, so I have about five totaling $75.00. Many people don't like their coffee, but their specialty drinks, you know, the high calorie ones, are great. Their hot chocolate with whipped cream is perfect on a cold day. Perhaps my favorite thing about this location is that I can walk my dog here in the nicer weather and hang out on the patio with all the other canine toting coffee connoisseurs.
Overall, Starbucks is not my favorite. But you know what you're going to get when you visit a Starbucks. The quality is always the same no matter what the location. There is definitely something to be said for that. Everyone recognizes the branding and they are popular for a reason. This Starbucks is excellent though because they have an incredible outdoor seating area. When the weather is nice, this is definitely the place where you want to hang out with your laptop (free WiFi!), sip some coffee, and get some work done. It's also very close to the 495 exit for Connecticut Ave, so it's easy to meet up with people here.
Regular old Starbucks. Gets busy but I always find a place to sit and plug in. Lots of outdoor seating too. Wifi is fast. Service is fast. Staff aren't always jubilant but they're super chill so it's fine.

Beautiful decor, usually decent food but not always.
Went to La Ferme this past Saturday, 9/21/13 for my father-in-law's 80th birthday and felt compelled to write. La Ferme has well above average food and a waitstaff that is near excellent in both quality of service and attentiveness. We dined with folks aged 80-10 and everyone went away happy. Three persons (including myself) ordered the Filet Mignot Au Poivre and I personally found it to be fantastic and perfectly cooked medium. My 10-year old son also ordered it and asked for it to be a plain piece of meat (only salt and pepper) and cooked medium. They complied perfectly and even put his au poivre sauce on the side in case he wanted to experiment. They also accommodated his request for a salad with just lettuce leaves and nothing else. Again, they put all the salad ingredients on the side for his to pick and choose .... without us asking. My wife's dish (something with snails and risotto) was said to be delicious and my father-in-law also had something that he quite liked. I regret not ordering the Chocolate Souffle. I wasn't sure I'd have the room for it after a big meal, and after discovering I did, went with the Creme' Brulee instead, which was just great. Finally, we really appreciated the waitstaff waiting for my mother-in-law to finish her meal before taking away all the plates. I'm not exaggerating that in the time it takes her to eat 1 bite, most everyone at the table is near the end of their meal. The cons: 1. There is a kinda cheesy piano player taking requests all night. The man is clearly talented, but a little past his prime playing popular standards from the 1970's. It was actually a little embarrassing. The big tip jar on his piano was equally off-putting, but we put in our $10 which seemed to be the obligatory donation for hearing Billy Joel's "Piano Man" (which I really didn't want to hear). 2. The price. Don't get me wrong, the food was really quite good. But not $450 good for 5 people ($90/person). Food - 4 stars Service - 5 stars Ambiance - 3 stars (would be 4 stars without the piano player) Value - 2 stars.
This has become our Christmas Eve dinner tradition. So delicious and the ambiance is perfect for a winter holiday dinner. Looking forward to doing it again this year.

This place is great. I have been several times and each and every time I leave very happy. The food is great. the price it on point for the portions you get....did I mention they are to much for one person? My foodie friend and I each order one entree and share with one another and still have enough left over for a third meal to take home! The staff always take care of you with out being in your face all the time. I really do crave this place, thankfully I don't live next door to it or I would be 3 billion pounds, give or take a pound! If your in the area, stop by they will take care of your Asian food needs!
I was here on Sunday of Memorial Day weekend around 12:30. I wasn't expecting to meet my friend until 2:00 so I thought I had time. I ordered a glass of Kendall Jackson Chardonnay as my beverage sine I thought I had time. I wasn't hungry enough for a big meal so I ordered two appetizers. The cold sesame noodles and the vegetarian spring rolls. By that point I had found out my friend was waiting for me where I was staying (an hour and half early) which was why i ordered the vegetarian stuff in case he joined me while the food came. He was there before the food arrived and I offered to split what I ordered already but he decided not to take my food and order something for himself. The service was very good. Given the restaurant was pretty empty we could have easily been forgotten but we weren't
Piss poor. So my colleagues decided that we we're going to have a team lunch to close a successful week. TERRIBLE! First off they were not trying to accept the company card. A little frustrating but we ended up putting it on someone's personal card. Next while eating one of my colleagues found a random wire in her fried rice when she was eating. Like where the heck did it come from?? Strictly food wise: just okay to be honest. I got general tso's the sauce was good however no broccoli. In the end I would never return, the service was not up to par, especially considering the Chevy Chase area and all the options we could have chosen.

Wow, I can't believe the negative reviews on this Chipotle. First of all, my husband and I go here almost every single day. We live on Willard Avenue just about a block from it, so it is very convenient. Everyday my husband and I split a chicken bowl. For the people who say they skimp, I literally can't imagine what you're talking about. Nearly every Chipotle I've been to puts a least 2-3 servings of food in every bowl--there is no way one human being needs to eat that much food! That is just greedy! We split a chicken bowl and normally can't even finish it. This location is clean, fast, and has very friendly customer service. I highly recommend!
Usually I am very satisfied by this establishment, but whenever the manager is there, I seem to leave feeling a little bit cheated. She is very rude. I usually like to have my burrito mixed up so that I don't get a huge clump of cheese, and every time that I ask her to mix it she glares at me and gives me some speech about how they don't normally do it. The last time I checked it really doesn't take that long to do. Then as of more recently, I have noticed that they have started to skimp on the meat whenever she is there. Usually it is a very good experience, but they need to change a few things starting with the manager.
One and a half stars. Plenty of seating inside and out. They're facing the same carnitas drought of late. Smaller portions than other locations. Also, I really hope that was a stray fragment of corn husk in my burrito bowl and not the corner of an employee's fingernail.

Potomac Pizza

Reviews:
I always found Potomac Pizza to be the best pizza! I am now on the West Coast and missing it. Haven't found anything that compares. However, my only complaint that is holding me from giving 5 stars is the customer service. The employees really need to try and be a bit more friendly and welcoming. I know it can be hard when your super busy and overwhelmed with orders but that's one of the most important factors in a successful business.
I went here for lunch and got the lunch special - two slices of pizza and a salad. The pizza was practically raw, the cheese on it just barely melted. I also had Canadian bacon topping on the pizza and since it was practically raw I wasn't sure if they cooked the meat to the right temperature, so had to pick all the meat off just to be safe. The pizza without the canadian bacon on it was ok. The salad was wilted and brown. I don't even eat that brown of salad leaves at home, so I don't know why they would think it's acceptable to serve that bad of lettuce when someone is paying for it. They were incredibly busy for lunch and I did receive my order quickly. However I'd rather it take a little longer and be a fresh salad and cooked pizza than just slamming out poor quality food. I don't plan to go back.
Order took 2 hours to deliver to Bethesda metro office building. Pizza was cold, not even close to being fresh. The box was obviously turned on its side back when it WAS hot, since the toppings of cheese and pepperoni were in the corner of the box, congealed. I am outraged. This is terrible and unacceptable. Edit: The owner called me personally and apologized for the pizza mess, and gave me a full refund and additional credit to make the situation right. As angry as I was in the moment, I do look forward to ordering pizza in the future since I do think it tastes great!
